Calm before the Storm

Mornin'! It's cloudy and currently 54 mild degrees in Wildwood and will be in the upper 50's today. For now it's dry and somewhat calm, but all hell's gonna break loose later. There's a 50% chance of showers by late morning. There's an 90% chance by this afternoon. With the rain there will be 20-30mph winds out of the southeast; some tidal flooding and we could see thunder and lightning tonight. High tide:2:26p.m.; Low tide:8:22a.m.; Ocean temp:52°. I'm keeping an eye on the weekend; it's still looking seasonably cold and clear.

Frosty Monday

Mornin'! Wildwood's experiencing it's first morning of frost. (It never made it on the pumpkin this year!) It's 31° in WW as darkness seeps slowly into morning. The horizon sky is beginning to show it's rainbow of colors as the sun will be peeking over it within the hour. It's cold and seriously feeling like Winter. Ah...that word. I'm not ready to say "Bring it on" yet. Temps will head into the upper 40's today and with all that sunshine, may reach the 50° mark. There will be a southerly breeze at 5-10mph. High tide:1:19p.m.; Low tide:7:12a.m.; Ocean temp:50° (the island's insulator is dropping big time). It's looking like the frost will melt making way for a clear, crisp, sunny, calm, autumn day in Wildwood.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'! It's chilly in WW this morning before daybreak with a temperature of 37°. The winds have calmed down significantly as it's just a breeze right now at 8-10mph. They'll kick up a bit later from the Northwest at 15-20mph. The temperature will rise into the mid-40's but not much higher than that. The sun's going to stick around the entire day today and tomorrow and that along with the ocean (55°) will keep WW insulated. High tide:11:12a.m.; Low tide:5:55p.m. I'm keeping an eye on the rains that are expected by mid-week. My other eye will be focused on next weekend's forecast as well for those upcoming Christmas events like the Hereford Lighthouse Tree lighting ceremony (photo), the Christmas Parade and of course the Elks annual Christmas beach bonfire. But, for today...a bright, sunny, somewhat calm, seasonable autumn day in Wildwood. I'm getting the lights done!

Windy Weekend!

Mornin'! Looking like a clear sky as it's bright and colorful while the sun's hitting the horizon. It's currently 39° in WW this morning with a westerly breeze of 11mph. All that's changing though. Temps will go the to mid-upper 40's today with plenty of sunshine and stay that way for the next few days. There's a fly in the oinment as hefty winds will be in the mix today, as winds will be prevelant throughout most of the weekend. They'll be out of the West at 15-25mph gusting at 35mph; tough for hanging those Christmas lights or winterizing the boat; good for viewing rooster combs on the ocean waves. High tide:11:14a.m.; Low tide:5:46p.m.; Ocean temp:54°.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mornin'! Boy...we're just moving along this year aren't we? Before you know it...it'll be the middle of next month and you know what that means...the day time will begin to be longer! Love that. It's hard to believe aprons are already on as ovens are being fired up in preparation for today's Feast. It's a perfect weather day to have a nice warm oven on all day...temp is 43 degrees in WW. It may be chilly today as the thermometer stays around the high 40's. It's dry and cloudy right now, but showers will begin by noon and continue all day/overnight into tomorrow morning. There's an offshore breeze at 5-15mph. high tide:9:26a.m.; Low tide:4:08p.m.; Ocean temp:54degrees. Tomorrow's Black Friday will start out wet. It will begin to dry up by around noon as it becomes warmer and more seasonable. The weekend though...sunny and cold. In the 40's for hanging those Christmas Lights. Be thankful and enjoy your Feast whatever it may be!

Pre-Thanksgiving Travel Day!

Mornin'! It's currently 44 degrees in the ol' Wildwoods this morning and looks much like the other beautiful mornings this week. Just love how that horizon turns into an artist's pallet and begins to show lovely rainbow pastel colors as darkness evaporates. Whew...a bit long winded this early morn...let's get on to the weather...as it will be fairly mild with the temps reaching the low-mid 50's today. Sun will prevail today as you travel to your Feast destination that is if you're traveling today. Winds will be prevalent though coming from the NW at 16-20mph; gusting at 35mph. High tide:7:58a.m.; Low tide:2:34p.m.; Ocean temp:55 degrees. Clouds are filtering in this evening preparing us for rain tomorrow and Friday. Careful traveling!

Unseasonably Warm Autumn Tuesday

Mornin'! It's a tad on the warm side for this time of year. It's currently 55 degrees in WW as the sun's about to do it's daybreak presentation. Sky is lovely with those pastel colors at the horizon. It'll be party sunny through much of the day as the clouds will be entering the mix and showers are predicted (there's that word again) later. Temps will be in the mid-upper 60's and there will be a light breeze out of the SW. High Tide:7:49a.m.; Low Tide:2:36p.m.; Ocean temp: 55 degrees. Today looks rather lovely. Tomorrow begins cooler temps without the rain and it's looking like a possible washout for Thanksgiving. I'll keep an eye on that.

Thanksgiving Week Begins!

Mornin'! It's currently 43 degrees, wet and drippy in WW this morning. Even though the horizon's beginning to turn colors, it's kind of gray and slightly misty out. Not much of a breeze either. All this will change as the morning arrives. The sun is scheduled to appear and hang around all day. Warmer temps are scheduled as well. By late this morning, WW will see a sunny day with temps in the low to mid-60's. SW winds will be blowing it at 10-12mph. High tide:7:44p.m.; Low tide:1:51p.m.; Ocean temp:55 degrees; Moon rise:5:21p.m. Rains are coming late tomorrow and may stick around right through Black Friday. I'm just saying, that's what they're saying.

Sunny Sunday with a Full Moon

Mornin!' Crisp, clear morning in Wildwood as the horizon's turning pink with a hint of purple, yellow and coral. Just lovely as the sunrise is due in less than 10 minutes. It's 41 degrees and a light breeze is wafting over the island (coming from the north today at 5-10mph). It'll be sunny all day and will reach 50 degrees and hovering around that temp most of the day. Full moon today as well and the moonrise is due at 4:31p.m. And, within 10 minutes after the moon rise...the sun sets at 4:40p.m. I'd like to be hovering over the island to catch that one! High tide:7:03p.m.; Low tide:1:10p.m.; Ocean temp:55 degrees.

Saturday, November 20, 2010

It's a beautiful morning...I think I'll go outside for awhile.

Mornin'! I'm feeling a bit lyrical this morning, but there's no denying it is a beautiful morning. The smell of the sea is in the air and I may not be able to see it, but I can hear the ocean. The sun's just about to hit the horizon as there's abundant sunshine going to cover the island today again. Temps are currently 46 degrees but will head to the high 50's and we may even reach the 60's. It'll be breezy as the westerly winds will be around at 15-20mph and have gusts tagging along. The moon is 99% full and will rise today at 3:48p.m. High tide:5:42p.m.; Low tide:11:47a.m.; Ocean temp:55 degrees.

Plenty of Sun today

Mornin'! Love to live so pleasantly; live this life of luxury...lazing on a sunny afternoon. I wish as that tune swirls around in my head this morning. I'll keep it on the back burner for one of those great beach days next year. It's currently 47 degrees in WW as darkness prevails this time of day. The horizon has that light coral color...so Miss Sun is on her way in less than an hour. The temperature will stay in the low-mid 50's today and won't feel quite as warm as the rest of the week has been, but nice just the same. Breezes will continue to be from the NW at 10-15mph. Skies will remain clear and cloud-free. The weekend's looking pretty much the same albeit a tad warmer. There will be a full moon this weekend too so the evenings will be nice and bright. High tide:5:42p.m.; Low tide:11:47a.m.; Ocean temp:54 degrees; Moon rise:3:10p.m.

Partly Sunny Thursday

Mornin'! Looks like a nice start to the day as the sun displays its brilliance crossing the horizon and coloring the sky with the most beautiful colors. It's currently 43 degrees and seasonably chilly in WW this morning. Winds has simmered down to a light westerly breeze of 10mph. Temps will stay in the 50's (probably low 50's) as clouds begin to increase and cover us this afternoon. No rain is predicted...just a cloudy day is predicted. We'll just have to wait and see. You know how WW is...always a bit different from what is predicted. My bets are on seeing lots of sun today. High tide:5:00p.m.; Low tide:11:04a.m.; Ocean temp: 54 degrees. Same as the air! Weekend's looking like today...temps similar with no rain in sight.

Windy and Warm Wednesday in Wildwood

Mornin'! Say that title fast three times! It'll be a mild one today in WW. It's currently 58 degrees even before the sun hits the horizon. There's a breeze (15mph) out there but that will be soon turning into a wind (out of the S-SW) with gusts of 40mph. So much for the beautiful autumn leaves still on the island's trees. Temps will reach the high 60's (we may not see the 60's again until next week) and the sun will keep us comfortable throughout the day. Our hair will take a hit, but hey...you can't have it all. High tide: 10:19a.m.; Low tide: 4:16p.m.; Ocean temp: 56 degrees. Don't forget a hairbrush today!

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Colorful Tuesday

Mornin'! It's a gray, damp, dreary morning in WW today with a temperature of 51 degrees starting out the day. Scattered showers are predicted throughout most of the day. Temperature will be in the 60's. It won't be that kind of day that goes right through you and makes you grab the throw. Breezes will be out of the SW at 10-15mph. I'm thinking it'll be like yesterday without the intense Fog. The colorful leaves will be the only thing brightening up Wildwood today. High tide:3:29p.m.; Low tide:9:29a.m.; Ocean temp: 56 degrees.

Foggy Start to the Day!

Mornin'! Nice to be back home! It's currently 45 degrees in WW and looking out into the darkness is nothing but dense Fog this early morning. It's quiet, still, drippy and intensely fragrant with the sea/salt aromas. The mountain air was great, but this island air is even better. All this fog will burn off later this morning as the sun begins to heat things up. It'll be sunny with a mix of clouds today with highs in the 50's and probably reaching the 60's again. The island is still but the breezes will be gently wafting in later out of the South at 5-7 mph. High tide: 2:39p.m.; Low tide: 8:34a.m.; Ocean temp: 55 degrees. Looks like a good one! Rains are coming tomorrow and Wednesday.

Another Nice Weekend on the Horizon

Mornin'! TGIF as it's going to take us into a beautiful autumn weekend in Wildwood. Today's going to begin a 4 day trend of sunny, clear, crisp Fall weather beginning with 39 degrees this morning. Temperature is heading into the mid-upper 50's today. The weather folk are saying there's a strong possibility that we may even see the 60's today as well as throughout the entire weekend as each day gets a bit warmer. Ocean breezes will tag along though (from the NE) at 10-20 mph making it feel crisp and chillier than the mainland. Could be a good weekend to drydock the boat if you haven't done that yet. Oh...almost forgot...there's been minor tidal flooding on the island this week and we'll continue to see that during the high tides. (Don't drive through tide water!) High tide:11:51a.m.; Low tide:6:39pm; Ocean temp: 56 degrees. No blog tomorrow or Sunday...heading out of town for a couple days. See ya Monday!

Happy Veterans Day!

Mornin'! I sit blogging benefitting from the Veterans as I have the day off from work thanks to them. Thank you to all our Veterans for all the sacrifices you've made for this great United States of America! Thank you to all our past Veterans and grateful prayers go out to you today. It's currently 49 degrees in Wildwood this morning. Cool, brisk, perfect Autumn day here on the island. Sun's just coming over the horizon and the clouds are nowhere to be found on this bright, clear Thursday. It'll stay cool and in the mid-upper 50's today with an ocean breeze (NE) of 15-20mph so keep the hoodie available. Sun will abound today and continue to do so right through the weekend as higher temps appear. High tide:10:57a.m.; Low tide:5:36p.m.; Ocean Temp:55 degrees. Thanks again Veterans! (JM's 2nd row; 2nd from right)

Sunny Finish to this Wednesday

Mornin'! Gray, cloudy and still this morning. It's 48 degrees in Wildwood and will stay rather cloudly most of the day. Temps are heading into the mid-upper 50's. Sun's supposed to peek out later this afternoon; closer to sunset. (Could be a good sunset photo shoot: 4:49p.m.). Winds will pick up to out of the North at 15-25mph. Doesn't sound like a great weather day, but it should be rain-free and will stay rain-free for at least the next 5 days. Weekend's looking like the best bet as temps will be in the high 60's. For today...high tide:10:06a.m.; low tide:4:42p.m.; ocean temp: 56 degrees.

Still Blustery In Wildwood

Mornin'! Brrrr...a wee bit on the chilly side in WW this morning. Those 30mph gusts of wind are doing the trick! It's currently 44 degrees with a N-NW wind blowing across the island at 15-20 mph sustained winds and add in those gusts...you've got blustery. (Keep the hairbrush handy). Sun's just about up this early morn and will stay with us most of the day. If you had rains (WW had only a slight spritz last evening around dinner time), they're outta here. Temps will stay in the mid-upper 50's. High tide: 9:18a.m.; Low tide:3:51p.m.; Ocean temp: (another Brrrr)is 58 degrees and seems to continue to drop each day. That's our insulator which determines how fast the winter chill sets itself in Wildwood.

Windy, Chilly, Monday

Mornin'! It's chilly on the island this morning as the sun peeks over the horizon. Blogging feels a bit different as I'm sitting with daylight surrounding me unlike the dark daylight savings time mornings. It's currently 38 degrees in WW with some stiff winds blowing over the island. (NW-15-25mph/40mph gusts) The Winds have that "metroliner roaring down the street" sound to them. There's a low pressure out over the ocean and hovering along the coast. This low pressure could bring rain off and on today if it hovers close enough to the coast. The Sun is showing itself now though at daybreak. Temps will get into the 50's today. The winds will make it feel chilly though. High tide:8:30a.m.; Low tide:3:00p.m.; Ocean temp: 58 degrees. (There are gale warnings out in the ocean...sailors beware.)

Sunny Sunday!

Mornin'! Notice a much brighter morning? That is...sun was up when sleep ended and that's something to get used to. I had that "I'm late" feeling. Hope you turned the clocks...if not...you can't say I didn't remind you. It's currently 39 degrees in WW. Brrrrr. You can hear the ocean roaring today. And that's from six blocks away. Robe, fuzzy slippers, sunday paper, mug of kona coffee, fireplace roaring all happening this cold, sunny, Sunday morning. There will be plenty of sun in WW today and we'll heat up again into the 50's. A beautiful autumn day on the island for sure. Breezes will be there too out of the N-NW at 15-20mph. High tide:7:43a.m.; Low tide: 2:10p.m.; Ocean temp: 59 degrees. Sunset: 4:53p.m. something else to get used to.

Time to turn your clocks back an hour

Mornin'! As I'm typing "the end of daylight savings time" I feel a bit verklempt. Countdown is on until I'm typing "daylight savings time". Darkness will abound while leaving work or preparing dinner. Evening walks will have a different feel to them. I look at it this way...45 more days and we turn it all around as the days begin to grow a bit longer as 12/21 will be the shortest day of the year. Somehow have to look on the bright side. Whew, very winded today as I'm getting carried away with this shorter day thing. On to today's weather...it's currently sunny and 47 degrees in WW. Theres a light breeze blowing and it's chilly but the sun will be out most of the day (partly sunny they say) and we're heading to the mid-upper 50's. Breezes will be out of the NW at 10-20mph. Definitely sweater/jacket/sweatshirt weather. A great day for a beach walk or bike ride. High tide:7:56a.m.; Low tide:2:20p.m.; Ocean Temp:59 degrees. Haven't written that number for the ocean temperature in a long time. The island's beginning to lose its insulator as that badboy keeps us warm and frostfree. It's up to you now...don't forget the clocks!
P.S. just thought of this...but if you click on the 1st clock, then zoom in, you'll see a neat perspective of WW.

Drab Friday

Mornin'! Dull, dreary, gloomy, bleak, murky Friday up ahead. How's that to set the mood this morning? Oh...it'll be alright...the weekend's coming and so is the Sun. It's currently 51 degrees in WW. There's not much of a breeze on this fragrant, misty, dark, chilly, damp morning but the breezes will be here later today out of the WNW at 10-15mph. It'll be drizzly and gray and damp right up until a gradual clearing begins late this afternoon/early evening when clouds begin to clear out and give us some peeks of sun and stars to gaze at tonight. For now...clouds and drizzles abound. Temps will hit the mid-upper 50's today. Oh...did I mention flooding...there will be flooding during high tide so take heed and don't drive through flood waters as it's salt water and will do damage to the underside of your vehicle. I had to do a u-turn twice yesterday to get to the office...ahh...island living! High tide: 7:05a.m. AND 7:30p.m.; Low tide: 1:27p.m.; Ocean temp: 60 degrees. Weekend's looking good. Long range is looking even better! Now...where did I put my book?

New Moon Drearies

Mornin'! It's a New Moon today and I'm not talking about the book by Stephenie Meyer although that was a good read. But New Moon in WW means flooding...it's right up there with Full Moon. Add rain all day in the mix...you're talking flooding during the high tides. It's currently 54 degrees and raining. At the moment it's just drizzling, but the experts are predicting periods of steady rainfall all throughout the day today. It's the dark and drearies today. Winds will be blowing in from the NE at 10-20mph. Temps will be in the 60's. High tide:6:39p.m.; Low tide:12:42p.m.; Ocean temp: 60 degrees. It's sounding more and more like a perfect day to curl up with a good book!

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Wednesday

Mornin'! It's 42 degrees in WW with clear star-lit skies before the sun hits that horizon. No breeze to speak of either so it's not feeling that cold outside. The sun will bring warmth as temps go into the 50's. Breezes later from the SE at 10mph. High tide:5:46p.m.; Low tide:10:40a.m.; Ocean temp: 60 degrees. If you haven't switched the clothes yet...it's time. It's sweater weather and a good day for a beach walk or bike ride! Get out there...rains are coming tomorrow and I could be stoking the ol' fireplace to warm the ol' bones.

Happy All Souls Day and Election Day!

Mornin'! It's time to celebrate the ending of the vindictive political television commercials and vote for your favorite political officials. Also, don't forget to take time today to celebrate your favorite Souls on their feastday!!! "Celebrate the Soul" I say. It's currently get this...39 degrees in WW!!! You read that right...39 degrees. That's what my trusty outside porch thermometer says, although the weather forecasters are saying it's 41. I'm going with 39 and I can't believe that it's that freezing cold. But, it is. The air feels almost frosty. I'm serious. I was checking out my herb garden of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme while shivering and it's still green and looking okay, but if these temperatures continue, it'll be a blessing if they keep until the Thanksgiving stuffing is made. It'll be sunny all day and that will surely help to warm things back up. Sunny blue skies in WW along with temps in the 50's. Winds from the N-NE at 5-10 mph. High tide:4:49p.m.; Low tide:10:40a.m.; Ocean temp: 61 degrees...and beginning to get cold but still keeping this island warmly insulated unlike the mainland. For now...staying focused...it's still Autumn. Today's blog is in honor of all the Souls...this one's for you! Bless you all!
