Hot Fun in the Summertime

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood this bright, sunny morn.  Had some wicked weather last night...nice big thunderstorms with power outtages.  We're good to go this morning though.  No breezes at the moment but those lovely seabreezes will kick in later today out of the South at 10-15mph.  Temps will be tapping 90° again mixing up the formula for more unsettled, ugly, stormy weather tonight.  Looks like "ditto" for tomorrow. You've been forewarned.  It'll be hazy, hot and humid today and tomorrow as hot fun in the summertime is had by this intensely populated island.  I'm still trying to get used to that thick, vacationer population after 8 months of quiet island emptiness.  Bring it on I say!  Just PICK UP YOUR TRASH instead of leaving it for the Sea and all its Sea Creatures.  That includes "fudgy-wudgy" wrappers and cigarette butts!  What a combination but it is what it is...food for our sea creatures.

Red Sky in the Morning!

Mornin'!  It's 73° this warm, overcast, quiet morn.  The sky is red and you know what that means. "Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning."  Not a fan of red sky in the morning.  Thunderstorms are in the forecast so hang in there and prepare to hunker down for a bit this early Friday.  Once through the stormy morning period, it'll be hazy, hot and humid today with temps heading to the lo-90's.  Winds will be out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Looking hazy, hot and humid all weekend too and we may just be lucky enough to have that seabreeze to put smiles on our faces as we hang out at the beach:)  Hopefully...clean beaches that we all keep up together!

A Lovely Day

Mornin'!  It's 70° this start to another Lovely Day.  I can just hear Bill Withers singing...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYi7uEvEEmk.  The sun's up, the sky is blue and there's not much of a breeze to write about.  It'll reach the mid-upper 80's today with a westerly breeze at 10-15mph.  Just a lovely day; especially if you're at the Shore!  Tomorrow...warmer and Saturday...even warmer as Martha and the Vandella's will be swimming around in our heads as we enter another Heatwave this weekend.

Happy Hump Day!

Mornin'!  It's 65° this bright, sunny hump day.  It's a lovely morning at the shore.  Temps are going up into the low 80's as a NW breeze will commence at 10-15mph.  Looking like a nice hump day.  Looking like a nice beach day.  Looking like a nice anything day in Wildwood.  It's looking like a nice warm weekend.

Everything's Changed

Mornin'!  It's 62° this breezy, sunny, lovely morning in WW.  Everything's changed since this time yesterday.  Humidity's gone.  The dark, ominous clouds are gone.  Storms and torrents are gone.  The sun just rose and its morning rays along with the cool breezes are coming through all the opened windows.  It's a lovely seashore morning.  Those breezes will continue out of the Northwest all day at 18-21mph.  Temps will be in the comfortable low-mid 70's.  It's going to continue being nice, albeit gradually warmer for each day as the week moves along.

Monday Monday

Mornin'!  It's 72° this gray Monday morn.  Wildwood had absolutely perfect weather this weekend and it all ended in the thick of some major thunderstorms last night.  Strobe lightning, huge thunder blasts, heavy rains and a short power outtage all checked in around 2:30a.m. last night.  Everything's ok now but whew...what great spectrum of weather we had.  You were blessed if you experienced it.  The sunrise has happened already today and is brightening the sky and cloud cover but the sun is pretty much obscured.  It'll be mostly/partly cloudy with some peeks of sun in the mix.  We're more likely to see rain showers or some more thunderstorms today as there's a 45% chance of that occurring.  Temps will be in the low 80's with S-SW winds at 15mph.

First Sunday of Summer

Mornin'!  It's 70°.  The sun is shining brightly this Sunday morning.  There's a faint, northerly, less-humid breeze wifting (I mean wafting) over the island. It'll be mostly sunny today with temperatures in the low-80's. Couple that with low humidity not to mention a seabreeze kicking in this afternoon and this could very well be considered a perfect "10" at the Shore today.  There's a possibility of rain on the overnight.

First Weekend of Summer

Mornin'!  It's 76° this sunny 1st Saturday of Summer.  There's a very light breeze which will hang around coming from the NW at 10-15mph throughout today.  Not much of a seabreeze happening.  I'd pack the "greenhead fly" spray in the beachbag.  It'll be warm and sunny with less humidity as temps climb into the upper 80's.  Looks like pretty much a repeat for tomorrow.  See you at the beach!

More Heat Wave

Mornin'!  It's 78° this ever so slightly breezy morn.  Sun's due up any minute and the heat will be back on.  It'll be our 3rd consecutive Heat Wave day.  Temps will be tapping 90° with those hot westerly winds coming right off the land toward the sea at 10-15mph.  You can actually feel the hot wind blowing over the intense hot sand while trying to cool off at the beach.  Had a couple run-ins with green heads (hungry flies) too as those west winds bring those relentess biting creatures.  What's with that?  The seabreeze is supposed to shift around later this afternoon/early evening and try to cool things down a notch, but it'll be competing with a possible thunderstorm (maybe severe) along with heavy rain around the same time.  Words of caution...don't go barefoot while traversing the hot sand.  And if you hear thunder...beat it, pack it up and get off the beach as fast as possible.  As for the weekend...looking nice as we back up to more comfortable temps along with sun and cooler seabreezes.  Ahhh...gotta love summer!

We're having a Heatwave...

Mornin'!  It's 77° this hazy, hot and humid morn in WW.  Even though we're hot here on the island, it's been a "10" as beach days go.  Throughout this heatwave, seems like the only place to be is in airconditioning or on the beach.  Temps will reach the high 80's along the coast again and thankfully that seabreeze will kick in again this afternoon. Right now...no breeze. There is some intense sun shining from this morning's sunrise making for a sticky start to the day.  Looks like tomorrow will be pretty much the same until the weekend when that ol' Heatwave checks out just like Kenny Chesney did.  So far...looking normal for the 1st weekend of Summer.

Happy Summer!

Mornin'!  It's here!  Summer's here!  The Summer Solstice has arrive.  The longest day of 2012.  It's 76° this somewhat early morn.  Slept in on my first vacation day of the Summer.  Had a lovely evening in Philadelphia at the Phillies game last night.  You wanna feel "warm"...go to the big city where the city skyline is in a thick cloud of summer haze.  If not...stick around here and feel the seabreezes.  There's no breeze at the moment as the sun's doing everything in its power to show itself through those patchy morning clouds.  Once it breaks through, we'll see temps in the high 80's and possibly tapping the ol' 90° mark in the thermometer.  Is that perfect for the start of summer or what?!  It'll be Wildwood's first heat wave beginning today that will take us right through to Friday.  Today will be sunny, hot, humid with breezes out of the West at 7-10mph.  By later this afternoon that ol' seabreeze will kick in at 10-15mph cooling us off nicely.  It'll be nice on the beach this evening as well for that free Kenny Chesney concert kickin' up around 9p.m.

Mornin'! It's 66° under cloudy skies with no breezes this early morn.  Temps will rise into the low 70's as clouds give way to sun.  Humidity begins to slowly creep into the mix as winds begin from the South at 10mph.  Looks like it'll be a real nice one at the Shore today.  The stage is set as Chesney's bringing a heat wave with him tomorrow evening.  If you build it, they'll come!

Cool and Comfortable

Mornin'!  It's 59° in WW.  Sun rose and the sky is magnificent!  Everything's so colorful as the splattering of clouds all over are being colored by the sunrise.  The blue background of the sky is speckled everywhere you look with a cloud that's colored in pastels and shades of golds, pinks, corals, purples, grays and on and on. It's just splendid.  Thank ya Lord!  It'll be cool but comfortable today as the sun shines but with lots of cloud cover thrown in the mix.  Much like yesterday.  Temps may not get out of the 60's.  Breezes will be off the sea (E-SE) at 10-15mph.  Overnight: showers possible.  Two more days until summer and with that some summer weather not to mention Kenny Chesny to kick it off.  Enjoy the cool and comfortable and peace and quiet!

Mornin'!  Happy Father's Day!  This one's dedicated to you Dad...miss you everyday.  Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" was playing in my head...now it's playing on my computer getting my foot-a-tapping.  Love that tune.  It's 65° in WW and will just make it to the 70° mark today.  The Sun is trying its best to shine, but we've got some cloud cover in the morning mix and at the moment...overcast.  Today will have a mix of clouds and sun (not as much sun as yesterday) with breezes out of the NE first then shifting from the SE all at 10-15mph w/some minor gusting.  It's going to be dry and pleasant and comfy but just a bit on the cool side albeit a Lovely Father's Day!  Here's to all you Dads.  You know who you are!

Last Spring Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood.  We've got bright blue skies; sun's up; breeze is blowing in; salt is in the air and it couldn't be any more lovely this start of yet another (4th consecutive) weekend at the shore.  It'll be sunny just be tapping the 70° mark and a bit breezy again (great "linens-on-the-clothesline" day) coming off the Sea (NE-ENE at 15-20mph with 25+mph gusts).  Remember those winds do cause rip currents so be mindful of where you're dipping and stay near a lifeguard. (read my post from a couple days ago).  Tomorrow for Father's Day it's looking pretty much the same albeit a tad cooler and a few clouds thrown in the mix.  Still a real nice one though.

Last Friday of Spring...TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in WW this lovely morn.  Clouds are out! Sun's back up!  Seagulls are awake! Kenny Chesney's stage is going up. Temps will be up too and get into the low-70's again today. The breezes will be checked in and be staying slightly brisk coming out of the NE-ENE at 15-20mph with 25mph+gusts.  Pretty much a repeat for the next few days as we head into our fourth sunny and dry weekend.  I could be just "cutting and pasting" this entry depending on how my evenings go!  For the weekend events... http://www.wildwoodsnj.com/.

Chilly Flag Day

Mornin'!  It's 66° breezy degrees this early morn.  Temps will rise only several degrees into the low 70's again today.  Clouds are checked in and looks like they plan on hanging out the first half of today.  No sunrise that I can see this morning; just ominous cloud cover.  There's a 20% chance of a shower this morning as well. There will be peeks of sun, but not until tomorrow will be have a true "sunny" day.  It's the breeze that's making today what it is as those Flags will be flying!  Winds will be out of the NE at 15-25mph with gusting and creating a possible "sweater" day not to mention rip currents in the ocean. http://ripcurrents.noaa.gov/overview.shtml You've been forewarned.  I'm gone with a sweater again today.  Oh and by the way...the weekend's looking really good for our Fathers out there; really good!

Still a bit of "duck" and "sweater" weather

Mornin'!  It's 69° this damp, slightly breezy (N-NW at 10mph), gray morning.  Temperatures will increase just a bit to the mid-70's today as it'll stay mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain.  More like "duck weather" today than anything else.  The sun may try to check in beginning this afternoon and by tomorrow...whole different can of worms as it's looking much sunnier.  Winds today will wift (I mean waft) over our island beginning from the North and shift to the Northeast by this afternoon all at 10-20mph.  I'd go with a light sweater again today! This weekend (the last weekend of Spring) is looking pretty nice.  Not as hot as last weekend, but nice just the same.

Change is in the air

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood.  There's a refreshing seabreeze blowing across the island.  The sun's obscured by cloud cover and is amplifying the sound of the surf.  No sunrise to catch this early morn...too many clouds.  It'll stay mostly cloudy today with showers developing sometime this morning or early afternoon.  Just an fyi...we may see some downpours and/or thunderstorms and could get as much as an inch of rain.  (Mother Nature will do all the garden watering today!)  Temps won't get too much higher staying in the low-mid 70 range with that ol' seabreeze kickin' all day out of the SE at 10-20mph.  I'm going with a light sweater for the office today.  You may want to pull out the wet suit if you're hitting the surf.

Another Nice One For the Books

Mornin'!  It's 70° this sunny, slightly breezy morning.  Winds are out of the W-NW at 8-10mph and will shift from the SE and kick up just a bit at 15-20+mph.  It'll be mostly sunny and nice today with temps in the upper 70's as well as that chance of tapping the 80° mark.  Clouds are supposed to roll on in later this afternoon and by later this evening, there's a 20% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm.  Tomorrow that chance goes up to 60% as it's looking like a gray day for Tuesday.  Today though...another nice for the books.  Got to the beach and in the ocean again yesterday.  It's been incredibly nice here at the Shore as of late!  Nice thoughts to carry back to the office today and hopefully carry us through until next weekend!

Lovliness Continues

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood.  It's been a perfect weekend as it's a perfect seashore Sunday morn.  There's not a cloud in the sky as the sun is up and shining brightly. There's a very light breeze moving the porch curtains.  The Sun's going to be around all day as temps will be tapping the 80° mark as winds will eventually pick up from the West first then shift later today from the SW; then the South by later this afternoon all at 5-10mph.  No rain in the forecast until possibly late tomorrow.  The beach was a "9" yesterday on a scale of "1-10" as everything was perfect...temperature, breezes, crowds, ocean although the ocean temp could be warmer to suit my needs.  I did go into the ocean and under water and enjoyed a perfect immediate cool-down after a short but satisfying nap on the beach blanket and under the umbrella.  The sunset sail last night was in fact a "10" as the evening couldn't have been more lovely and enjoyable. Yet another...

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood (same as the ocean temp).  Sun along with a blue skies, a light breeze and all my opened windows are welcoming the day.  It's yet another beautiful weekend at the Shore; the third consecutive beautiful weekend as a matter of fact.  It'll be a tad on the warm side and mostly sunny today with breezes out of the W at 10-15mph then shifting later from the SW.  Temps will be in the low-mid 80's.  Tomorrow...pretty much the same albeit a bit cooler on the temp check list.  Guess I'll be seeing you at the beach!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood.  The "dry-out" has begun after some really severe thunderstorms last night.  I thought my skylight was going to crack with the intense torrents pounding on it and my guess is some hail was part of that deal.  Sounded like it anyway.  It's now a perfectly calm, clear, sunny, quiet morn.  I don't hear the seagulls this morning and hope they made it through the night.  I discovered last weekend that some of them nest right out in the open over at the grassy sound.  And, there were plenty of chicks in those nests.  Today's temps will reach the mid-upper 70's with breezes at 10-15mph coming from the NW and shifting later from the SW as the "dry-out" continues all day long (at least everything's watered and watered big time). It'll be the third straight sunny and summery weekend up ahead.  It's looking good at the Shore for the next few days.  High Tide:11:30a.m.; Low Tide:5:30p.m.; Ocean Temp:67°; Sunset:8:25p.m.

June 20th: Kenny Chesney

Mornin'!  It's 60°, calm and dry this lovely seashore morning.  Sun's up and will be present all day as it's supposed to be mostly sunny with a bit of cloud cover here and there.  There's a small chance of a pop-up shower late this afternoon/early evening.  They said the same thing yesterday and nothing.  Winds will be calm and out of the W-SW at 10-15mph and you know the drill...by this afternoon that ol' seabreeze will kick in.  The weekend's looking decent...as forcasters are saying it'll be essentially the same as today but a bit cloudier and warmer.  Did I mention Kenny Chesney's coming to our beach? http://networkedblogs.com/yrR2f

Half and Half

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood.  The sun's up.  It's calm and dry out.  The gulls appear happy.   It seems like a nice one.  Don't be fooled as every forecast I've checked says chance of rain or at least a pop-up shower this afternoon or early evening.  But then again, you know the forecasters.  It'll be half and half with a mix of clouds and sun today with temps heading into the the upper 60's.  Breezes will be calm and coming from the West to start and shifting from the South later all at 10-15mph.  Could still have some remants of tidal flooding with that moon still big and bright although no longer Full.  For the most part...a lovely day at the shore.  At least the gulls think so.

Election Day Mix

Mornin'!  It's...get this...54° in Wildwood!  I'd say things have certainly cooled down a bit.  Temps are only going up into the low-mid 60's today too.  We've got a mix today as it's going to be cool, breezy, and partly sunny/partly cloudy (you decide).  Breezes out of the NE all day at 10-20mph are forecasted.  We may get one of those pop-up showers again although yesterdays pop-up shower turned into torrents and minor flooding.  While speaking of the "f" word...we are in store for more "flooding" today.  It's still full moon time and after last night's flood-sirens wailing and with the water quickly rising over the bulkhead into our streets, hubby made his move and got the ol' waders on (they're still sitting by the front door) and moved our vehicle to higher ground.  Keep in mind we're still in the midst of minor-moderate flooding today so keep watch of the tides and don't drive through flood waters...salt water will have its way with the undercarriage of your vehicle.
