Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling much like 37° as there's barely a breeze out of the NW at 3-5mph.  We're under partly cloudy, still dark skies.  Ms Sun's due up in less than an hour.   Happy New Year's Eve!  This is it folks... only hours until 2024. 18 hours to be exact.  It'll be a pleasant day down the shore for the last day and night of 2023.  Expect a partly sunny (clouds in the mix again) day with temps in the mid-40s and breezy W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly clear skies give way to cloudy skies late; temps around 40° with SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunshine in the first half of the day with cloud cover increasing in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 40s with N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tuesday... clear and sunny with temps in the low-mid 40s and N-NW winds at 8-11mph.  As for you December, thanks for being good to us and we'll see you on the other side!  See you all next year!

Last Weekend Of 2023

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 35° with the West winds at 15-20mph.  Ms Sun's working her way over the cloudy horizon with her paint brush. It's a crisp, lovely morning down the Shore.  At the moment, it's mostly cloudy in Wildwood right now but the sun will shine this last Saturday of 2023.  Expect a mainly sunny first half of the day with some clouds in the afternoon as temps only rise into the upper 40s with those pesky West winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s and West winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... intervals of sun and clouds,  temps in the mid-upper 40s and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  For 2024... (I can't believe I'm writing that) it'll be partly to mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 40s and N-NW winds much lighter at 5-10mph.

Two And A Wake Up.

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's 67° in Key West.  It's 45° in St Augustine and 56° in Clearwater Florida.  What is happening?  I know one thing that's happening and that's Ms Sun is shining brightly in Wildwood and into my home right now as brightness and blue skies abound again!  Whew!  It's been quite awhile that warm sunshine surrounded us, but it's here I'm happy to report.  Winds are light out of the West at 3-8mph.  It'll be a beauty today with mostly sunny skies (some clouds are in the mix) as temps get into the low-50s with West winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clouds roll on in again with a 25% chance of rain showers, temps in the upper 30s and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny and windy with winds out of the West at 20-30mph and temps in the upper 40s.  Sunday... mostly sunny, mid-40s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Monday... mix of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-40s with light winds.  We're down to hours now... 64 hours until 2024!

Last Of The Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's misty, gray and raining lightly again.  Winds are out of the W-NW at 10-12mph.  We're in it to win it. We haven't seen a bright, blue sky, sunny day in a week but it's coming.  Last Thursday was a sunny day and that was that.  We've been waiting for the sun to remove that raw, dampness since then.  Thankfully, it hasn't been cold or snowing.  It was raining at a good clip since early last night and continuing throughout the overnight turning to a pounding rain waking me around 3am. It's barely raining now.  Expect an overcast, cloudy day with 30% chance of rain, temps in the low-50s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... overcast, 20% chance of rain, temps in the low-40s and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... I think it's safe to say Ms Sun will be checking in with intervals of sunshine and cloud cover.  Temps will be in the low-50s with West winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday... sunny, temps in the mid-upper 40s and on the blustery side with Sunday being mostly sunny, temps in the mid-40s and less windy.  I ordered a new bathing suit online yesterday for my 2024 beach season and that certainly is helping me out of these dismal, gray doldrums!

Christmas Week Humpday

Happy Kwanzaa
Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray, misty and raining very lightly with winds out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  I was so focused on shopping early yesterday then reporting the weather after, that I forgot to wish everyone who celebrates Kwanzaa a Happy Kwanzaa Season which began yesterday and will be celebrated until the 1st of the New Year.  Happy Kwanzaa!
Today's weather is starting out much like yesterday.  Expect a cloudy, misty day with periods of rain along with the potential for heavy rainfall.  Temps will be in the low-50s with East winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... more rain likely with temps in the upper 40s and East winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain  90%.  That ol' Full Moon we had yesterday is still pulling on the Tides so if we get heavy rainfall during high tide times... be aware of low-lying areas on the island and don't park there or drive through flood waters.  Tomorrow... rain until later in the morning when it becomes a cloudy day and temps in the low-50s and West winds at 10-15mph.  Chance of rain is 30%.  Thursday... still considerably cloudy with possible peeks of sunshine and temps almost tapping 50° with much lighter breezes.   For now the weekend's looking okay.  Saturday will be partly sunny with temps in the mid-40s and very windy.  Sunday... sunny, temps in the mid-40s and less windy.

Boxing Day - Full "Cold" Moon

Today's Webcam Shot
Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the E-NE at 8-10mph and the soup's on as it's foggy not only on the island but on the mainland.  I just returned from the store on the mainland as I really needed to take part in "Boxing Day" and hit the after-Christmas ½ price sales.  I haven't done that in several years and the gift boxes, wrapping paper, ribbons, bow and cards needed refreshing big time.  I certainly was dealing with some intense fog all around both on and off the island along with some aggressive shoppers.  I did accomplish what I set out to do and got next year's Christmas supplies!
It'll be another cloudy day once the fog lifts with temps near 50° and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy, fog developing again, temps where they are now (45°) and East winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... looking like a rainy day along with foggy conditions.  Temps will be in the mid-50s with East winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain 70-90% depending on what part of the day it is.  It's the final Full Moon of the year today aka "the Cold Moon" and along with the fog happening at the moment, the extremely high tides are happening right now as well.  Be aware of the high tide times and remember the back side of the island (marsh side) is an hour later than the beach/ocean side. If we get heavy rains tomorrow... be aware of the tides which will still be higher then normal and those low-lying areas on the island could flood.  I had a very nice Christmas and I'm grateful for the gifts that surround me with family, friends, health and happiness.  Much to be thankful for as always. Happy Boxing Day!

Merry Christmas

Freddy from Christmas past
Mornin'!  Merry Christmas! It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, starlit skies as sunrise is less than an hour away.  Breezes are barely there out of the E-NE at 3-5mph.  The minute you step outside into the darkness... thick briny (fishy) air hits your olfactory senses, then your auditory processing kicks in and you can hear the hum of the ocean (very subtly) crashing on the shore. It's a fantastic Christmas morning down the Shore.  It'll be a decent day  starting with areas of patchy fog and some cloudy conditions this morning, becoming a partly sunny / partly cloudy day with temps in the low 50s and E-NE winds at 5-10mph. Tonight... partly cloudy, temps where they are now... low-mid 40s and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy, temps around 50° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Wednesday looks like a rainy, windy day with mild temps in the mid-50s.  Wishing everyone out there reading my weather reports from Wildwood a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve

Sunset Lake - Wildwood Crest

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It was just raining lightly as we're kicking off Christmas eve with a cloudy sky.  There's barely a breeze out of the NE at 2-3mph.  We're going to have light rain on and off this morning, then a cloudy day on tap.  Temps will be near 50° with light and variable winds.  Chance of rain is 80%.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps around 43° with more of those light and variable winds.  For Christmas Day... intervals of sun and clouds, temps in the low-50s and E-NE winds at 5-10mph. Tuesday... cloudy again with mild temps (low 50s) and E-NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Merry Christmas Eve!

12-22-23

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 29° with the windchill due to the NE breeze at 8-11mph.  It's cloudy with Ms Sun over the horizon and making the dark clouds glow with shades of orange and red.  It's cold.  Expect considerable clouds this morning.  It's looking more like a cloudy day than a sunny day but I'm sure there will be peeks of sunshine throughout the day.  For now though... I'd say mostly cloudy.  Today's temps... mid-40s with NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s with light and variable winds.  Tomorrow... cloudy, temps near 50° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps in the low-40s and light winds.  Sunday... partly to mostly cloudy (peeks of sun in the mix too), temps in the low-mid 40s and light winds.  Monday... partly sunny, temps around 53° with light winds.  For sure... not feeling wintry "yet".  Happy Friday!

Welcome Winter

Wish I Could Take Credit For This Shot
Mornin'!  Happy Winter Solstice!  It's the official first day of Winter the shortest day of the year and the least hours of daylight. It's at 10:27PM tonight for the record.  It's when the Earth's poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the sun (on the Summer Solstice June 20th, its tilt is closest toward the Sun).  And by the way, March 19th is the first day of Spring in 2024.  I might as well get that in there.
Weather today... it's 35° and clear with Ms Sun shining brightly and winds out of the North at 9-11mph.  It'll be another beauty as this week keeps putting out the Solstice hits.  Expect another sunny day with temps in the mid-40s and North winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps in the low-30s and N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy start with a partly cloudy day, temps in the low-40s and NE winds at 5-10mph.  For Saturday... cloudy, temps around 50° with light and variable winds.  And, Sunday... partly sunny, temps around 50° with light and variable winds.  For Christmas Day... partly sunny, temps around 50°.  It'll almost be the Full Moon on Christmas (it's actually Tuesday). Welcome Old Man Winter... please be kind.

Last Day Of Autumn

My Daughter's Nephew from years past

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 22° with the N-NW breezes at 10-15mph.  It's clear with starlit and moonlit skies.  I still wish it were like the old days when I first moved here and not one house had any outdoor lighting shining and interfering with the night sky view.  The stars in the "off season" sky would seem to shine incredibly bright in the clear darkness making for the most breathtaking starlit night sky.  No longer the case as for some reason... all the Shoobies leave their outdoor spotlights and porch lights on 24/7/365 days a year whether here or not making the night sky and stars invisible.  Noise pollution is one thing; but light pollution frustrates me even more as the Seasonal Folk don't have a clue that their lighting choice not only contributes to light pollution, and an unnecessarily higher electric bill, but leaving outdoor lights on day and night can make intruders think no one's home.  I'm finished rambling.
Once daybreak occurs... in about an hour from now, the sky will remain clear as Ms Sun crosses the horizon.  We'll have a sunny day ahead with temps in the mid-40s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps in the low-30s and N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the mid-40s with North winds at 10-15mph.  As for this weekend... Saturday will be cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 40s and Sunday (Christmas Eve)... partly sunny (clouds in the mix) with temps near 50°.  As we bid adieu to the Fall season, tomorrow is the Winter Solstice and the official first day of Winter. The days slowly but surely begin to grow longer as the sun begins setting a bit later with each and every passing day.  This Autumn was lovely here along the Coast.  We had a couple nasty storms, but for the most part, the weather was mild and enjoyable. Who knows what El Nino will be bring this Winter?  Generally winters are mild during El Nino.  Sometimes it's hard to avoid those cold, wet intrusions of moisture and a chance of receiving a mid-Atlantic snowstorms.  But, as for as this part of the country goes... we're currently favored to have temperatures above average this Winter.  It all remains to be seen.  Until next year Autumn... see ya on the other side!

A Little Of This And That Today

This Morning's Webcam - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 30° with the blustery winds out of the W-NW at 17-22mph +gusting.  It's clear above but with a thick line of clouds along the horizon.  Ms Sun's about to rise but may take a minute to get above them.  We're going to have a mix of sun and clouds today with the cloud cover and gusting winds diminishing by late afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-40s with NW winds at 20-30mph most of the day.  Tonight... much clearer skies, temps around 30° with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the mid-upper 40s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Thursday (the first day of Winter) will be a repeat of tomorrow... sunny and mild.  The Full Moon is next Tuesday.

Beginning to Quiet On The Eastern Front

Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  We made it through the worst of it I think with rain still coming down (lightly now) and winds out of the W-NW at 20-25mph.  It's more misty and foggy at the moment.  We still have minor flooding on the island including my backyard.  We're not able to get to our Shed without wearing "wellies" and it looks like the water may have gotten in there.  The plan is to check it out in a little while.  Thankfully, anything important in the Shed is up and off the floor.  We did receive over 3" of rain since yesterday afternoon.  And, we were already nicely watered from last weekend's rains.  There's still a "Flood Watch" and "Coastal Flood Advisory" in effect until later this evening.  We're going to have more rain today (on and off) but nothing like the overnight and early morning.  It'll be gray and damp and misty, temps in the upper 50s and very windy with West winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  We could see peeks of sun by sunset.  Tonight... partly clear/partly cloudy, temps dropping significantly into the low-mid 30s and West winds at 15-25mph+gusting.  Partly sunny, very windy (W-NW at 20-30mph+gusting), temps in the low-40s for tomorrow. Tomorrow night... clear, temps in the low-mid 30s and much less windy.

Storm's-A-Brewing

This morning's webcan shot
Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the East at 10-15mph and it feels like 47°.  It's cloudy.  We're dry except for all the outside surfaces which have had the overnight salty dew soak everything. We're a bit briny (which I love) with the thick fishy aroma in the air this morning.  This moring's cloud cover is providing noise insulation of as the sound of the angry ocean crashing onto the beach is loud and clear this morning and that's 6+ blocks away.  Strap in... we're about to have another coastal storm.  There are postings this morning... There's a "Flood Watch" (from tonight at 6pm until tomorrow night at 6pm), a "Wind Advisory" (from 8pm tonight until tomorrow 7am), and a "Coastal Flood Advisory" (today 10am until tomorrow at 4pm).  Expect areas of patchy fog early, then rain showers possibly starting this morning evolving into a more steady, heavy rain by this afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain... 100%.  Tonight... rain (100% chance with 1-2" expected) with windy conditions (SE at 25-35mph) and temps in the low-50s.  Tomorrow... periods of rain early with clouds breaking up by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with West winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s and West winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Don't drive through flood waters.  Know your low-lying areas that always flood.  Be aware of the High Tide times.  Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, trashcans etc. Stay safe.

There's A Storm Heading Our Way Again

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining brightly.  We have some very light, milky cloudy cover but the sunshine is coming through and providing the morning warm up.  There's hardly a breeze out of the North at 3-5mph.  It's the calm before the storm.  Enjoy today as it'll be another pleasant day with plenty of sunshine, temps in the low-50s and NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with areas of patchy fog, temps in the upper 40s with East winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... there's a "Gale Warning" and a "Flood Watch" posted.  It begins tomorrow night and ends Monday night.  Here's how it goes... much like last weekend, the rain and wind will begin Sunday.  We'll probably wake tomorrow with patchy fog and rain beginning sometime in the morning evolving into a steady rain by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 90%.  Tomorrow night... heavy rain and SE winds at 25-35mph +gusting. 1-2 inches of rain is expected.  Monday... morning rain and very windy (W-SW 20-30mph +gusting), temps in the upper 50s with Ms Sun possibly peeking through the clouds in the afternoon and the winds simmering down by sunset. You know the drill... be aware of the high tide times as the flood/rain waters are going to inevitably be all over the island especially the low-lying areas. The backside of the island's high tide is an hour later than the ocean side. Watch where you leave your vehicle parked. Parking is free on the entire island... feel free to move to those higher elevations on the island.  Oh, don't forget about those outdoor decorations, trashcans, flags, etc.  Get that stuff secured today.  Stay safe.

One Week Until Winter

Christmas In July - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling more like 28° with the North winds at 5-10mph.  It's clear and crisp as Ms Sun's up and beginning to turn everything into gold.  Our weather will be much like yesterday and tomorrow with plentiful sunshine.  Today's temps will be in the low-mid 40s.  Tomorrow's temps will be in the low-50s.  Today's winds will be out of the NW at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow's winds will be out of the West at 10-20mph.  As for this weekend... Saturday will be partly to mostly sunny with temps around 50° and Sunday will be gray with rain beginning late morning with  temps in the mid-50s.  We might as well talk about Monday too... could be "homemade soup making day" as we'll see heavy rain all day and night with temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Both Sunday and Monday will be extremely windy (20-30mph winds +gusting).

Another Beauty

Wildwood's Convention Hall Vestibule
Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  No windchill this morning as the breeze is barely there out of the West at  2-4mph.  It's cold out there though.  We're under clear skies with Ms Sun rising just about now and she's coloring the sky and some leftover horizon clouds all sorts of pastels.  It'll be a repeat of yesterday with plentiful sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 40s.  Winds are going to ramp up a bit out of the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear skies for the Geminid Meteor Shower which is peaking tonight, overnight and the early pre-dawn skies tomorrow.  Temps are going to drop down to 30° with N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mainly sunny with some clouds in the mix, temps around 40° and NW winds at 10-15mph.  As for this coming weekend... Saturday: sunny with temps near 50° and Sunday: cloudy with rain beginning after noon and temps in the mid-50s.  Eight days until Winter. Twelve days until Christmas.

New Moon 12/12

Hereford Lighthouse - North WW

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 29° with the W-NW breezes at 4-6mph.  It's on the nippy side this morning as Jack Frost paid a visit overnight.  The sky is clear as Ms Sun will have smooth sailing as she rises any moment now.  Winds are light.  The seagulls are enjoying daybreak as they seem to be squawking their delight.  It's going to be a beauty today with plentiful sunshine, temps in the mid-upper 40s and winds out of the W-SW at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear, starlit sky, temps in the upper 30s with W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mix of sun and clouds with windier conditions... temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with W-NW at 10-20mph. It's New Moon Tuesday.  It affects the tides exactly like a Full Moon as our High Tides today will be much higher than normal. We're having no extreme weather to cause any tidal flood postings. This moon is basically invisible and if the sky is cloud-free, the dark sky will provide what potentially will be the best meteor display of the year. It is scheduled to reach its peak tomorrow night into early Thursday morning (Dec 13th-14th).  It's The Geminid Meteor Shower.  The Geminid has a reputation for slow, bright, graceful fireballs as well as faint meteors with medium brightness. The American Meteor Society is predicting 150 meteors per hour. Find a perfectly dark location and you should be good to go.   Intrusive outdoor lighting much like 2 of my neighbors with their obnoxious spotlights left on 24/7 - 365 days certainly won't do it.  You'll need to find a very dark area (like the beach or bay) for the chance to see those shooting stars.  Only 9 days until the Winter Solstice.

Happy Monday

My Grandaughter

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling more like 30° with the winds out of the NW at 22-25mph +gusting.  It's cloudy and gray but dry. There's actually a bright spot in the dark clouds as Ms Sun trying her best to break through and shine.  The rain's been pushed out of here (East and North) as the New England area is getting the storm now.  We had heavy rain and wind beginning late yesterday and into the overnight.  And, it's all over.  It's all good.  In fact, we'll probably see Ms Sun shining brightly this afternoon!  Expect windy conditions with a mix of clouds and sun.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear skies, temps in the low-30s with NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the mid-40s and West winds at 5-10mph.  The New Moon is tomorrow so you can bet that the tides will be much higher than normal during "high tide" times.  For today... the tides will certainly be higher but nothing like yesterday with all that heavy rain.  We've been watered that's for sure.  And, all my secured decorations are still in place! Ten days until Winter. Happy Monday!

Rain-Is-A-Coming

Congress Hall - Cape May
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly cloud covered with just a few breaks for the morning sunshine.  Ms Sun has risen but not sure how much we'll see of her.  Winds are out of the South at 10-15mph.  Today will have some wet and windy weather.  Expect a stormy day (100% chance) with gusty winds at 20-30mph +gusting out of the South.  Temps will be in the upper 50s.  Tonight... more of the same.  Expect rain and wind and a potential for heavy rainfall.  Chance of rain is 100% with 1-2" of rain anticipated.  Temps will drop into the upper 30s with S-SW winds at 25-35mph.  Tomorrow... rain in the first half of the day (50% chance) giving way to sunshine in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with W-NW winds at 25-35mph gusting occasionally over 50mph.  Late tomorrow night the winds will simmer down as the sky is clear and starlit.  Tuesday... clear skies, plentiful sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 40s.  Be aware of this storm and coastal/tidal flooding it will probably bring.  Be aware of the high tides and low-lying areas on the island.  Secure those outdoor decorations!  Be safe.

It's The Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Dawn is unfolding as the sky has begun to brighten..  Ms Sun's due up over the horizon in about a half hour from now.  It's clear as the stars were twinkling brightly a little while ago.  It feels nice outside... you know, not one of those blast of cold air mornings; just a quiet and still morning with barely any breezes out of the S-SW at 3-5mph.  Noticeably "not" a winter morn.  We may see areas of patchy fog this morning with a mostly sunny day ahead.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with S-SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, then becoming cloudy overnight.  Temps will drop to where they are now... 49° with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... rainy and windy.  It should begin by late morning. Temps will be in the upper 50s with South winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 90%.  Heavy rainfall is possible both during the day and night which could produce 1-2 inches.  Monday... a 40% chance of rain before noon.  Temps will be in the upper 40s with West winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  Monday night... this rainy system will clear out and give us starlit skies.  Temps will drop in the low-30s and it'll still be breezy.  Batten down the hatches, decorations, trashcans, outdoor furniture etc.  Know your high tide times. Remember that the ocean's high tide is an hour before the bay/marsh side has high tide.  And, there are two high tides each day.  Be aware of low-lying areas on the island that typically flood as we'll no doubt have flooded streets and intersections during this coming storm and new moon.  Don't drive through damaging flood waters.  Have a nice and safe Weekend!

Happy Friday!

Holly Beach Park - 123 E. Andrews Ave. WW
Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Friday! We've got those milky, wispy clouds this morning but Ms Sun's trying to break on through.  Winds are barely there out of the E-NE at 2-4mph.  Everything's frosty as Ms Sun's warmth is already beginning her drippy meltdown.  Thankfully, it'll be mostly sunny today with a high near 54° and NW breezes at 4-8mph.  Breezes will shift later this afternoon out of the SE.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps in the low-mid 40s and Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-upper 50s and S-SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Sunday... a "strap in" kind of day with wind and rain on the forecast.  Expect showers in the morning becoming windy (Southerly winds at 20-30mph +gusting) with steady rain in the afternoon with temps around 60°.  Sunday night... potential for heavy rain (1-2 inches expected), very windy (West 25-35mph +gusting).  Just an fyi... the "New Moon" is Tuesday the 12th and as this rain system is settling here just 2 days before that invisible moon, you know the drill.  That moon will treat the coast just like a full moon does.  We'll no doubt have coastal flooding with all the rain they're forecasting.  Be familiar with the low-lying / flood-prone areas on the island.  Be cognizant of the high tide times.  And, if need be, move your vehicle.  Don't drive through flood water if you can as it's extremely harmful to the undercarriage of your vehicle.  Also, it looks like it'll be extremely windy so secure those outdoor decorations as well as trash/recycle cans.  Preparedness is key.  Today... the last of the Autumn Beauties... get out and enjoy!

Saturday looks like partly to mostly sunny, temps in the low-mid 50s and light breezes.  Whereas Sunday looks like rain by late morning with temps tapping 60° and blustery with winds out of the South at 20-25mph +gusting. 14 days until the Winter Solstice!

Almost A Repeat Of Yesterday

WW - Convention Hall
Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still on the dark side with Ms Sun just below the horizon coming in fast.  The sky is clear except for a few wispy light clouds creating a pastel sky with blues and pinks. Ms Sun's getting ready for her appearance as she's rising in about a half hour.  I'm fact, the sky is already brightening along the beach.  Winds are light out of the NW at 6-9mph.  It's looking like a repeat of yesterday with a partly sunny morning and clouds filtering in becoming a cloudy afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 40s with NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s and North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-40s and blustery with N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Yesterday was a bright sunny day until around 2pm with clouds began filtering in.  It was a pleasant, lovely warm up after and raw, damp few days.  Enjoy this morning's sunshine.

Possible Peeks Of Sunshine

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the W-NW at 10-12mph. We're under cloudy skies with Ms Sun lying in wait to rise in less than an hour from  now.  I'm not sure how much we'll see of her this morning.  We're going to have a mix of clouds and sun today.  We haven't had any sunshine since Friday morning.  I could use a dose albeit small as we're going to have a mostly cloudy afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-50s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy giving way to clear skies overnight.  Temps will drop into the upper 30s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of sun and clouds, mostly cloudy by late afternoon and temps in the mid-40s with NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps around 40° and winds light and variable.

The Drearies Continue

Cape May
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's supposed to rise over the horizon any time now but it's raining pretty hard at the moment.  The island is heavy with rain clouds.  We had some major dense fog last night into the overnight as the clouds release their moisture this morning.  Winds are currently out of the East at 10-15mph.  The roar of the ocean is loud and clear and that's 6+ blocks away from the beach.  The clouds always insulate the sound of the ocean's roar.  It almost sounds like my house is right near an overpass full of speeding traffic.
It looks like another dreary day with no sunshine.  Expect areas of patchy dense fog again with occasional rain showers... mainly this morning and again this evening.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with W-SW winds at 10-15mph+gusting.  Tonight... rain (40% chance) then clearing overnight with temps down to the mid-40s and West winds at 10-15mph+gusting up to 25mph. Tomorrow... mostly sunny as we start to dry out, temps in the low-50s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph with temps dropping to the upper 30s by evening.  Tuesday... partly to mostly sunny, temps near 50° with West winds.  We might see rain again Tuesday overnight into Wednesday.

Gray Weekend Up Ahead

Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to my Son today!  Today's Blog entry is for you as you enjoy your little birthday vacation getaway in Orlando with temps currently 72° going to 84° today!  Lucky you... enjoy!
It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  The air temp is the same as the ocean temp this morning.  There's 100% humidity with the fog out there.  We're under dense fog at the moment as everything's dripping wet.  It doesn't feel cold.  Winds are barely there out of the W-SW at 2-4mph.   We're going to have an overcast day with temps in the upper 50s and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... on and off rain showers (80% chance) with more of a steady rain overnight.  Temps will be around 50° with East winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... beginning with a cloudy day and by the afternoon... rain (70% chance) with temps in the upper 50s and East winds shifting to the S-SW at 10-20mph.

Welcome December!

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  December's arrived.  Old Man Winter is checking in as according to Meteorologists it's the first day of Winter.  But, I'm sticking with 20 more days until the Winter Solstice (the shortest day of the year.. the "real" official day of Winter).  However you look at it... Happy December!
It's actually pretty nice outside.  The sky is cloudy in spots with those wispy clouds that are turning red as Ms Sun is about to rise and has already begun to paint her beautiful seascape.  Breezes are barely there out of the SW at 3-5mph.  The stillness is bringing the heavy, fishy, briny fragrance of the sea into the morning air.  It'll be partly clear this morning as the sky begins to thicken with cloud cover as there's rain coming today.  Expect rain showers by this afternoon (70% chance) with temps in the mid-50s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... light rain early (70% chance), then becoming cloudy with temps dropping into the upper 40s and SW winds at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... a cloudy day with temps in the upper 50s and SW winds at 5-10mph.  There's a 60% chance of rain tomorrow night as temps stay in the low-50s and winds are light out of the SE.  And as for Sunday... cloudy with rain showers throughout the day and evening.  Temps will be mild in the mid-upper 50s with winds at 8-10mph out of various directions (East, E-NE, E-SE, S-SW, West) throughout the day and night.  Here's hoping that December is kind this year as we all know about those wintry weather tricks it keeps up its sleeve!

That's A November Wrap!

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  Not much of windchill this morning with Westerly breezes at 3-5mph.  Ms Sun's up and over the horizon shining brightly.  It's a lovely morning this last day of November making it the official end of Hurricane Season here on the East Coast.  It'll be a beauty today with plentiful sunshine, temps around 50° and SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy skies, temps in the mid-40s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...  cloudy early with afternoon showers (70% chance), temps in the mid-50s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... 40% chance of rain with temps in the upper 40s / low 50s with S-SW winds.  Saturday... a cloudy day with temps in the upper 50s with a slight chance of rain on Saturday night.  Sunday... looks like on and off rain showers throughout the day and into the night with temps in the mid-upper 50s with E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  So, until next year November (you were outstanding this year)... thanks for the lovely weather and see ya on the other side!

Wintry Humpday

Hereford Lighthouse - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 20° with the NW breeze at 8-10mph.  I'm grateful for my furnace this morning.  Winter's on the island although it's not actually checking in for another 22 days.  The Winter Solstice is December 21st; the official first day of winter and shortest day of the year.  We'll still have some 50° days left to enjoy before it arrives thankfully. Not today though.  It's clear and bright this morning.  Ms Sun is up and so is that leftover full Moon.  No clouds to report this morning as hump day unfolds.  We're going to have a cold one with plentiful sunshine today with temps around 40° feeling more like 30° with the West winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly clear / partly cloudy with temps in the low-30s and W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... we're warming back up. Except for a few afternoon clouds, it'll be mainly sunny, temps in the low-50s and SW winds at 10-15mph.  Friday... partly cloudy kicking off the day, becoming cloudy by late morning with periods of rain (70% chance) beginning in the late afternoon, temps in the mid-50s.  It'll be raining Friday night into the wee hours of Saturday morning.  It looks like it'll just be cloudy on Saturday with temps in the mid-upper 50s.  By evening, a 40% chance of rain again.  Sunday... looking wet the entire day with temps in the mid-upper 50s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.

Today's Webcam Shots - North WW - Beach
Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 30° with the windchill.  Winds are out of the West at 15-20mph.  We're under expressive, colorful cloud cover.  Ms Sun's trying to get through it all but so far; no good.  We're going to be mostly to partly cloudy the first half of the day with decreasing cloudiness and peeks of sunshine later.  The winds aren't going anywhere; in fact, look out... bad hair day today.  Winds will out of the W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear and moonlit with a high of 28° and will feel more like 18° (time for the thermals).  Winds will still be stiff providing a nice windchill out of the W-NW at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... sunny and clear, temps around 40° and West winds at 10-15mph.  Thursday... sunny with temps around 50° and calm winds.

Full Beaver Moon

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  It's the Beaver Full Moon today and it's shining on the marsh this early morning.   We've been nicely watered as yesterday was a rainy day down the Shore.  Everything's saturated.  We're still under heavy cloud cover as it's still relatively dark and gray outside.  Expect these clouds to last throughout the morning as they give way to sunshine this afternoon.  I'm not sure how much of a sunrise we'll see.  Today's temps will be in the low-50s with winds ramping up as it becomes gusty... W-NW at 15-25mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps in the low-mid 30s with W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... cold and windy with temps barely tapping 40° and W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight's Full Moon will be rising the same exact time as Ms Sun sets.  It looks like the clouds will be cooperating for that show.

Gray and Wet Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 36° with the dampness and wind (E-NE at 10-15mph).  We've got a gray sky covering the island except right along the beach where Ms Sun just crossed the cloud covered horizon.  She's doing all she can to brighten things up but there's too much cloud cover for her to succeed.  In fact, those dark clouds are turning red and we all know what that means... "Red sky in the morning...".  Expect rain showers by late morning / early afternoon (90% chance) with steady rain later in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-50s with East winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... rain (80% chance) but ending around midnight as temps drop to the mid-40s with W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... back to sunny skies but blustery with winds out of the W-NW at 15-25mph.  Temps will be around 50° but will feel more like 40°.  It's the full moon tomorrow and the tides are already much higher than usual.  In fact, there's a "Coastal Flood" advisory posted. Be aware of any tidal flooding today as today's rainfall won't help matters.  Know your tide times and low-lying areas.  And, make it a point to "not" drive through that salty, corrosive water as it damages the under carriage of your vehicle.  Remember the back of the island gets the high tide an hour later than the ocean side.

Winter's Knocking A Little Louder

Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 25° due to the N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  We're talking a bit of a windchill this morning folks.  Back to that winter chill although it's 26 days away.  Whatever way you look at it, Winter's almost through the seasonal threshold.  Ms Sun's up!  She just crossed over the cloudy horizon with clear skies above.  It'll be mostly sunny today as temps rise into the mid-40s with NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy becoming overcast late with temps dropping into the mid-30s and very light and variable breezes.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain commencing after mid-day and up to 70% chance by evening, temps in the mid-50s with East winds at 5-10mph. Monday... clear and sunny, very breezy (W-NW at 20-25mph) with temps around 50° feeling much colder with the blustery winds.  One month till Christmas!  And, 3 days until the Full Moon.
