February's Heading Out

Mornin'!  February's about ready to take a bow.  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with breezes out of the North at 7-9.  It's nicely watered out there as we had some major rainfall last night as well as during the overnight.  Lots and lots of heavy, pelting rain. This grayness and dampness will vanish as Ms Sun's going to make an appearance a little later this afternoon as temps hovering around where they are now... mid-upper 40s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear, starlit sky, temps down into the low-mid 30s and North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of sun and clouds with temps in the upper 40s and E-SE at 10-15mph.  Thursday... rain returns but just in the morning with peeks of sun in the afternoon. Friday will be the rainy and blustery day.  I hope I still have some soup left because as February heads out, the departure soup today is Lentil-Vegetable.  Until next year February, you've been good to us in 2023... see you on the other side!  Now, if only March would be as kind.

Mornin'!  Happy Monday! And, Happy Birthday to my sweet granddaughter!  This one's for you today as you celebrate your 5th birthday! Breezes are out of the W-SW at 4-6mph.  Ms Sun's on her way as she's already begun brightening things up.  We have leftover clouds from last night but they'll give way to sunny skies today.  Expect a sunny Sunday (the last Sunday of February).  Temps will be much warmer than yesterday as we get into the low-50s again. Winds will be out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear, starlit skies, temps back into the low-30s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...  partly cloudy in the  morning becoming cloudy and breezy in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-40s with E-NE winds at 10-20mph. Last Weekend Of February - Possible First Snowfall Of The Year

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling like 24° with winds out of the E-NE at 5-10mph.  February's last hurrah I guess as Winter's returning today but only briefly.  It'll be wintry this morning as the sunshine begins checking out (Ms Sun just rose and is shining brightly) as the cloud cover will take over the skies today.  Expect morning sunshine, becoming cloudy later this morning with snow likely by early this afternoon.  Temps will be around 35° with blustery Easterly winds a 10-20mph.  Chance of snow is 90% with not much in accumulation (probably a ½").  Tonight... cloudy with some clearing late and fog settling over the island tonight as temps hover around 32° with winds light and variable.  Tomorrow... starting out cloudy with areas of patchy fog becoming sunny with a high near 50° and SW winds at 10-15mph.

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining through some hazy sky at the moment.  Breezes are out of the NW at 10-15mph.  It's a lovely morning down the Shore.  Happy Friday.  It's hard to believe that it's the last Friday of February already!  Looks like we're going to have a hazy sunny, cloudy mix today.  Temps will get up a few degrees and just about tap the 50° mark.  Winds are going to pick up big time... NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear with some cloudy conditions, temps dropping to the upper 20s with N-NE winds at  10-15mph.  Tomorrow... overcast, possible shower or snow squall (no accumulation), temps in the mid-30s and Easterly breezes at 5-10mph.  Sunday... sunny with temps tapping 50° and and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.

2/23/23 - Spring's In The Air

North Wildwood - Seawall

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with light breezes out of the W-SW at 4-7mph.  Ms Sun is due in some time this morning.  Expect a day with partly sunny skies, high around 60° and that's no typo or April Fools joke (yet).  Breezes will shift from the N-NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear to partly cloudy, temps in the mid-40s and S-SE winds shifting to the West at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy with gusty winds, temps in the low-50s with NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  As for this weekend... Saturday will be cloudy with snow showers developing by the afternoon, temps in the mid-30s and Sunday... partly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 40s.  There's a major Winter Storm named "Olive" that's currently packing a huge punch to the mid-west and parts of the Northeast as I type.  It's snowing along with freezing rain and in some areas the snow combined with strong winds are producing whiteout conditions from the Northern Plains and Great Lakes into portions of the Northeast.  The last report I saw was that over 800,000 are without power.  Even with parts of this storm pummeling upstate New York and New England (approximately 5 hours away), our Jersey coast is experiencing crazy Spring-like conditions.  It's just so weird and unbelievable that we're not in this scathing winter craziness.  Much to be grateful for this week as February continues to give us sneak peeks of Spring (in 25 days).

Ash Wednesday - It's The Start Of Lent

Mornin'! Ash Wednesday today... Remember Man that you are dust and unto dust you shall return!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under some clouds along the horizon but Ms Sun's up and peeking through the bottom of the cloud curtain.  Breezes are barely there out of the E-NE at 2-4mph.  Expect a damp humpday.  We're going to have mostly cloudy conditions with 50% chance of rain showers, temps in the mid-upper 40s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy with a slight chance of rain (25% chance) and temps still in the mid-40s.  Winds will be shifting from the E-NE to the E-SE to the S-SW all at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny and blustery with West winds at 10-20mph but the temps will be around 65° and that's no typo. As for this weekend... Saturday will have much  more seasonable temps with a high of 35° with 40% chance of snow and feeling like mid-20s with blustery winds.  Sunday... partly sunny, high of 50°.  February can't seem to make up its mind this year with all the variety of weather.  Just yesterday a severe storm just 100 miles north of us landed in New Jersey causing major destruction to an entire neighborhood.  They're still investigating whether or not it was a tornado.  Jeez.

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under cloud cover with Ms Sun trying to break through.  We had rain early with winds out of the N-NE at 4-6mph.  It's Mardi Gras!  Or, I guess you can call it Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day, Donut Day, Cake Day, Carnival or just the day before Lent.  Whatever you call it... the party's over tomorrow.  I'm happy to add that I had King Cake ("homemade" as I'm getting better at this confection) with my coffee this morning.  Speaking of this morning... we had rain earlier and it's cloudy,  raw, damp and drippy outside.  It looks like we might be getting some more rain as we head into the afternoon (50% chance).  Temps will be mild... mid-50s with West winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear to partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy day with high of 46° and East winds at 10-15mph.

Mornin'!  Happy President's Day!  It's also the "New Moon".  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up but completely obscured by thick light gray cloud cover.  In fact, I call this kind of sky, "white sky".  Winds are out of the SW at 5-10mph.  It looks like a gray day ahead with unseasonable temps in the mid-upper 50s and W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  There's a chance of sunshine peeking through later today but for the most part, it'll be a cloudy day.  Tonight... partly cloudy with periods of showers (40% chance).  Temps will drop into the low-40s with SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy to start with Ms Sun shining through the clouds by the afternoon, temps in the low-50s and SW winds at 10-20mph. With the New Moon today, the Tides will be much higher than normal and we just may see some minor tidal flooding in those low-lying areas on the island.

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and just beginning to break through the morning  clouds.  There's more clouds on the ocean side of the island than there are on the "blue sky" marsh side. But, they seem to be dissipating as I type.  It's feeling like 38° with the S-SW winds at 15-20mph.   It's a beautiful morning as it doesn't feel really cold and what sunshine is breaking through is certainly brightening up the sky and making the cloud cover quite picturesque.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day as temps climb only a few degrees... 48°.  Winds will ramp up out of the South at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... partly clear, starlit skies becoming overcast overnight.  There's a 15% chance of a passing rain shower.  Temps will go back to where they are now... mid-40s with S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... kicking off President's day with mostly cloudy skies, becoming partly clear with temps in the low-mid 50s and W-SW winds much calmer at 5-10mph.

Winter's In The Air

Mornin'!  Happy President's Day Weekend!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  But, it feels like Winter's back with 22° windchill as the NW winds at 10-15mph are wafting over the island.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  There's a strip of clouds along the horizon but not enough to keep the sunshine away.  It's going to be a sunny day with cooler than we've been accustomed to as of late... a high of 41°. We've been spoiled by the recent unseasonably warmish weather.  Today's winds will become a bit stiffer making it feel like 34° today. That's not too bad. Winds will be out of the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy skies early giving way to cloudy skies later.  Temps will be in the upper 30s with winds out of the SW at 5-10mph making it feel like low-30s.  Tomorrow... cloudy early becoming partly cloudy / partly sunny with temps almost tapping 50° and South winds at 10-20mph.  Monday... cloudy until early afternoon when we may see peeks of sunshine, temps in the low-50s with W-SW winds at 5-10mph.

The Smell Of Pizza's In The Air

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 93% as rain is in the air but not quite hitting the ground yet.  Everything's damp with all the moisture in the air.  Rain's-A-Coming any minute now!  Winds are currently out of the S-SW at 15-20mph.  Expect a windy, rainy day.  There's 100% chance of rain today at least until early afternoon.  The winds will be blustery out of the W-SW at 20-30mph with higher gusts possible.  Temps will rise up just a bit in the upper 50s.  Tonight... partly cloudy with those relentless winds out of the NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Temps will drop significantly to around 30°.  Tomorrow... mainly sunny, high of 42° and still breezy with W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Sunday... mostly cloudy, high of 48° and not as blustery.  Monday... partly sunny, high of 52° and SW breezes at 10-15mph.  Sam's Pizza opens today at 10:30AM.  And, remember... due to the boardwalk's new construction right in front of Sam's, the dining room "IS" open and can be accessed via the entrance on the Juniper Street ramp.  Takeout orders are being picked up at the side window on the 26th Street ramp.  Bagel-Time and Cool Scoops opens this weekend as well.  The Season's beginning to crack open. What more do you need... pizza, ice cream and bagels!

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a gray morning with lots and lots of overhead clouds.  There's some yellow strips of sunhine peeking through but I don't think Ms Sun's really gonna really break through this thickness until later this morning or even early afternoon.  There's even a slight chance (15%) of a rain shower in the earlier part of the day.  Breezes are out of the South at 8-10mph.  Here's today's forecast... cloudy skies early, partly cloudy this afternoon with peeks of sunshine.  Temps will be in the mid-50s with S-SW winds ramping up at 15-25mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps around where they are now... mid-upper 40s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... starting out cloudy with the possibility of rain coming by the afternoon (50% chance), temps in the low 50s with Southerly winds at 10-20mph.  For the holiday weekend... Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Monday!  I spoke of this many times and Monday was not my day of the week. I never could put my finger on it but it was always my most "dreaded" day of the week and I tried everything to change my mood and energy.  As I'm now enjoying retirement, Mondays are an entirely different story as I feel happy and alive.  Funny how that works out.  It's a bittersweet Monday today as my hometown football team lost the Super Bowl last night.  Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs as they beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 as they all played a tough, tight game.  Knowing Philly fans we all are so appreciative and supportive to the Eagles for such an incredible, fun season. You rock!  On to next year!

Last night's damp, wet weather matched the mood of the Eagles fans no doubt. Here down the shore we had heavy, pelting rains and winds that could blow a front door off before, during and after the game.  All night long, the rain and winds persisted.  It was tough sleeping.  However, today it'll be a 180°.  Even though we're saturated and very damp outside, Ms Sun's doing all she can to break through the leftover cloud cover.  Winds have calmed down as they are currently out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  Expect these morning clouds to check out and give way to a sunny Monday.  Temps will be in the low-50s with W-NW winds a bit blustery at 10-20mph.  Let's talk about the winds.  Here's the schedule for the winds today: now they're out of the N-NW and will switch to W-NW by mid-day then again from the West around dinner time and then again by bedtime from the W-SW.  Most of the day, they'll be around 10-20mph but will calm now and then to 10-15mph.

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got white sky this morning along with a Nor'easter knocking at the door!  It's crossing the Delaware Bay as I type.  No rain yet but it'll be here within an hour or two.  Winds are currently out of the NE at 5-9mph. Everything's about to change here on the island.  Expect periods of rain this morning as it becomes windy.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with 100% chance of rain today and NE winds at 20-30mph +gusting of up to 40mph.  Rainfall will be near a half an inch.  Tonight... windy with rain, temps around 40° and N-NE winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 80% with rainfall around a quarter of an inch.  Winds could be gusting up to 40mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps around 51° and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Happy Super Bowl Sunday!  It's finally happening.  My hometown team is playing and the excitement is fever pitch.  They're playing their old Coach's (Andy Reid) team the Kansas City Chiefs.  You know who I'm betting on!  By the way... A Little Sunshine - A Little Cloud Cover - A Lot Of Wind

Mornin'!  Happy Friday! It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with winds out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  It doesn't come close to feeling like Winter when stepping outside on to the back porch this morning.  It's very strange to be feeling Spring out there this time of year. I keep thinking of that February 9/10th 2010 Storm.

The snow and wind were so intense and immense that we had electric lines break all throughout the area leaving us in the dark and cold for a week.  It was like being in The Shining.  Today's photos are from that weekend. 
On the opposite end of the weather spectrum, today will be partly sunny with temps in the mid-50s and blustery winds out of the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... intervals of sun and clouds with cooler temps in the mid-40s and N-NW at 10-20mph.  Sunday... it's looking like a Nor'easter is checking with with rain showers in the morning with a steady, soaking rain in the afternoon and evening.  There are major winds along with this pelting rain too.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with NE winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  No complaints here... not after looking at these photos from 2010.
