Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with winds out of the N-NW at 10-15mph making it feel like 28°.  It's a cold morning down the Shore.  It'll be another Spring beauty albeit blustery with plentiful sunshine, temps around 50° and NW at 10-20mph making it feel like 45°.  Tonight... clear with a few passing clouds, temps around 40° and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy in the morning followed by a full-on cloudy day with windy conditions.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 50s with South winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Typical March has to show off one last hurrah.  March wasn't as bad as some years gone by with all her bluster but she'll never be on my "like" list. You can't trust March.  In fact, this weekend will certainly have some leftover March winds for sure. Saturday (which is another Polar Plunge by the way) will be very windy and rainy first half of the day at least until around noon.  Expect clouds and winds in the morning with 70% chance of rain into the early afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-60s with S-SW winds at 20-30mph.  Saturday night, windy with scattered rain and/or thunderstorms (50% chance) in the evening becoming cloudy overnight.  Temps will go into the low-40s with W-NW winds at 25-35mph. Happy Hump Day!  Ms Sun's up without a cloud in the bright blue sky.  Winds are out of the N-NE at 5-10mph making it feel more like 35°.  It'll be a pleasant Spring day with sunny to mostly sunny skies, high near 53° and winds out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear to partly cloudy, temps in the mid-30s and S-SW winds shifting to W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mainly sunny, high around 47° and NW winds at 10-20mph.  As for this coming weekend... 70% chance of rain on Saturday with chances going down to 20-25% by around 1-2pm.  Sunday... sunny, temps around 50° with NW winds blustery until later in the day.  Wildwood was under cloud cover after sunset last night so no Planets on Parade for us here along the coast.  Bummer.

Planets On Parade Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 89% with everything outside wet and covered in that salty, morning dew.  Breezes are barely there out of the NW at 3-6mph.  The sky is mostly clear with some clouds along the horizon on the ocean side and a smattering of clouds along the marsh side.  Ms Sun just rose.  We'll start out with clear conditions to kick off the morning with Ms Sun shining here and there today throughout some cloud cover.  All the forecasts are saying mostly cloudy today.  But, yesterday they said "rain" and the skies were blue and full of sunshine the entire day except for about an hour in the afternoon.  We had no rain as predicted.  Today for what it's worth... mix of clouds and sunshine, high of 52° and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps around 40° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... except for a few afternoon clouds, it'll be a sunny day with temps around 50° and Easterly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight if the sky is clear... right after sunset along the western sky, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, and Uranus will align as an arc with the Moon for an extremely rare astronomical event.  Jupiter, Venus and Mars will be pretty easy to see since they shine pretty brightly.  Venus will be the brightest with Mars close to the moon with a reddish glow.  Mercury and Uranus will be dimmer (greenish glow just above Venus) but you'll probably need binoculars.  We can only hope for a clear sky tonight.

Mostly Gray Monday

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 85% with winds out of the East at 4-8mph.  It's one of the weird skies as Ms Sun is covered by thick clouds yet if you turn and face West... it's blue sky!  I think we've got a system right along the coast.  There doesn't seem to be enough moisture in those clouds to rain down because we're currently dry except for the humidity in the air.  Rain looks to be coming though.  Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies turning to full on rain clouds.  There's about 5-6 hours of rain possible today sometime between 2pm and 8pm (80% chance).  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... 50% chance of rain, partly cloudy late and overnight with temps dropped into the low-mid 40s and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... considerable cloudiness kicking off the day with sun coming through by the afternoon; low-50s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night.... a rare event is going to take place tomorrow right after sunset. Five planets (Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus) will all align as an arc along with the Moon for this extremely rare astronomical event.  It'll all be difficult to see with the naked eye except for Venus.  You can always see Venus up there as she's always bright and showy!

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ. We've got damp, crapola weather ahead beginning today and stretching out ahead until Sunday when the drying out begins. We're currently under a gray sky with light breezes out of the S-SW at 3-5mph.  Just about an hour ago, the sky was bright red as Ms Sun rose over the horizon. And we all know what "Red sky in the morning" means.  It's going to be a mostly gray day with 40% chance of rain showers on and off.  Temps will get up into the low-mid 50s with Southerly winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy. First Day Of Spring 2023

Mornin'!  Happy Spring!  Today's the day!  It's feeling more like a February morn as Spring was in that month. But, it's coming.  It's coming.  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cold out there.  The birdbath is frozen.  It still with winds barely there out of the N-NW at 2-4mph.  And, good ol' Ms Sun is shining brightly in the cloudless sky welcoming Springtime.  Expect abundant sunshine today as the temps get up into the mid-upper 40s with winds out of the West at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear, starlit skies, with barely a moon as the "New Moon" is tomorrow.  A New Moon is almost invisible but has the same impact on the Tides as a Full Moon does... much higher and lower than normal tides.  Remember too, that the tide times along the ocean side of the island are an hour before the back (marsh) side.  As the ocean's tide begins to recede, the bay and marsh will have one more hour before they peak with that high tide.  Tonight's temps will be in the mid-upper 30s with SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a nice Spring day with plentiful sunshine, temps in the low-mid 50s with W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  93 days until Summer!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Mornin'!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Today's post is dedicated to a girlfriend and former co-worker who passed away last month from cancer.  She made the most incredible Irish Soda Bread and brought a few loaves into City Hall (where her office was) every St. Patty's day and was kind enough to pass along her recipe to me.  In fact, a loaf of that bread is in my oven baking as I type. The aroma in the house is fantastic.  It'll be delicious today with my ham and cabbage.  Thanks Moe. You made the world a better place in more ways than one. I'll never forget you especially on St. Patrick's Day.

Winds-Still-A-Whippin' Wednesday

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  Feels like 23° with the windchill.  We're still in "Gale Warning mode".  It's somewhat sunny with clouds in the mix making for a beautiful, picturesque scene along the beach as Ms Sun rises through it all.  Winds are still intense... NW at 25-35mph +gusting of up to 50mph.  They've been intense for over 24hours now and will continue throughout today into the night.  We got no snow at all.  In fact, yesterday would have been a Spring Beauty if not for those winds.  I took a 2 mile walk fighting those gales and every so often, the winds died down and immediately felt the warmth from the sun's rays.  It lasted only seconds as the intense wind slaps were almost non-stop. Our neighbors up north (Massachusetts) got 3' of the very heavy wet snow with this Nor'easter.  Spring snows are tough because they're so intensely heavy.   Lot's to be grateful for this round as we came out of this ok so far. 
Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with gusty winds (NW 25-35mph + gusting) and temps near 48°.  Tonight... clear skies, temps around 34° feeling like 29° with leftover NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting. Note that today's sunrise and sunset times are the same!  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the low-mid 50s with West winds at normal speeds... 10-15mph.  As for this coming weekend, Saturday looks like we could be waking to rain as it turns partly sunny with temps in the upper 40s and not off-the-chart windy.  Sunday... winds will be blustery, temps barely in the 40s and partly sunny / partly cloudy.  Oh, it's the Ides of March.  The anniversary of the day that Julius Caesar was assassinated.

Mornin'!  Daylight Saving's pulled the rug from under me this year as I'm waking much later than usual. Sorry about the "late-ish" blog recently.   It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 27°.  It's cloudy with Ms Sun peeking out from under the bottom of the line of clouds on the horizon line.  It's windy; very windy, in fact there's currently W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  The clouds are moving so swiftly changing the sky's appearance almost every second.  At the same time, the tops of all the ocean waves are being blown into Spindrifts (cockscombs).   We're right in the midst of missing most of a Nor'easter that's happening all around us.  It really should be considered a half of a Nor'easter.  Don't get me wrong, we're feeling the effects of very wild weather with winds and rough surf, but nothing like surrounding areas like New England. The Coast is going to see Wind Advisories and Gale Fore Winds Warning posted today until 6pm tomorrow.  Everything's on the table... hazardous seas are happening... mariners beware; trees and tree limbs breaking and power outages may result with these sustained, relentless, strong winds.  
It'll be partly cloudy today and very windy (W-NW at 25-40mph +gusting) feeling much colder with the windchill and with those non-stop, March winds as temps will be in the low-40s.  There's also a 25% chance of precipitation (rain or snow flurries depending on our Temps today).  Tonight... decreasing cloudiness, but still very windy.  Temps will drop down to the low-30s with W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  It'll feel like 25°.  Tomorrow... partly sunny and still windy with temps in the upper 40s. Clear tomorrow night.  Did I mention that March really stinks down the Shore?  Did I mention that March is my least favorite month?

Mornin'!  Happy Daylight Savings Time! If you forgot to turn your clocks ahead an hour before turning in, then it's an hour later than you thought. The Sun will set after 7PM today!  It's currently 32° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling more like 29° with the light breeze out of the N-NE at 5-10mph.  Ms Sun's up and there's not a cloud in the deep blue, morning sky.  The weather's going to take a turn today as clouds begin to increase later this morning.  It'll be gray and overcast by this afternoon.  Temps will get into the mid-upper 40s with North winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 60% chance of rain.  Temps will drop down to around 40° with E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... 100% chance of rain with temps around 46° and N-NE winds at 10-15mph ramping up at night at 20-25mph as rain continues into Tuesday's early morning. It'll be very windy on Tuesday with gusts as high as 45mph as this Coastal Storm begins to depart and we might even see peeks of sun in the afternoon.  We're supposed to have a sunny day on Wednesday.  8 more days until Spring.

Last Of The Standard Time

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 32° with the blustery winds out of the NW at 15-25mph.  It's cloudy, damp and raw outside.  There's a "Coastal Flood Advisory" tonight beginning at 9PM until 4AM tomorrow.  And, there's currently a "gale warning" in effect until 6pm tonight.  This weekend is celebrating St. Patrick with 10 o'clock Mass at St. Ann's Church with the Parade following (around noon) on 10th and Atlantic Avenue.  You might want to take an umbrella as it's looking pretty dreary out there.  Rain is in the air this morning.  Most of the island's restaurants and bars are celebrating the Irish with parties along with the ol' Erin Express... the bus that takes you from bar to bar in Wildwood as well as North Wildwood.  Good luck finding info on it though.

For today's weather... It'll be cloudy and possibly wet today with a high of 45° and N-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Higher wind gusts possible.  Chance of rain is 50%.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with rain clouds gone and  skies clear into the overnight.  Temps will be in the low-mid 30s with North winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny giving way to mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon with a high of 45° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Monday... a Coastal Storm is checking in with 80% chance of rain with temps in the upper 40s and some intense NE - NW blustery winds.  Don't forget tomorrow kicks off Daylight Savings Time as we turn all our clocks ahead one hour before lowering our heads on the pillow and losing an hour of sleep.  Just go to bed an hour early and you should be good to go.  Tell that to all the infants and pets!

Mornin'! The saying goes... "Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning; red sky at night, sailors delight." It's 37° in Wildwood NJ. Breezes are barely there out of the E-NE at 3-5mph. We've got a blazing Red Sky this morning. Ms Sun's trying to rise and break on through as the clouds are stealing the show making it extremely picturesque that's for sure. Enjoy as the gray skies and rains-are-a-coming today. Expect a mostly cloudy start to the day with possible peeks of sunshine this morning and periods of rain this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the upper 40s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... rain until the overnight when we'll have partial clearing.  Temps will drop down to where they are now... upper 30s with S-SW winds shifting to the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... rain showers in the early morning, remaining cloudy and overcast throughout the day with those March winds hitting us up again out of the N-NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  There's a 50% chance of rain showers tomorrow until around mid-day.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps around 40° and much calmer winds.  Sunday... partly sunny / partly cloudy with a high of 42° and NE winds at 5-10mph.  Monday... waking to rain with rain in the forecast until the wee hours of Tuesday morning.  It'll be raw and windy both days.  Why not?  It is March afterall.

 Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It sunny and bright.  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 10-15mph making it feel like 24°.  It'll be sunny to partly sunny with temps around 50° and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy becoming cloudy after midnight.  Temps will drop into the mid-upper 30s with N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... still looking like rain is coming with 90% chance of periods of rain beginning in the early afternoon, temps around the mid-40s and SE winds at 10-15mph. Tomorrow night... rain overnight into Saturday with temps in the upper 30s and North winds at 10-20mph.  For this weekend (Daylight Savings Time kicks off)... Saturday... rain until mid-day, temps in the low-40s and very blustery winds.  Sunday... partly sunny, temps in the mid-40s and less windy. The rains and winds return Monday and Tuesday.  But, always expect the winds to be predominate in March as its the most blustery of all the months here along the coast so keep a check on that hairspray.

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray, raw and breezy (North winds at 10-20mph) making it feel cold with a windchill of 30°.  It's Full Moon Tuesday!  It's going to be windy today as Ms Sun is making her grand entrance a little later this morning.  Expect a mostly sunny day with temps almost tapping 50° with those NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... some clouds filter in as temps drop into the low-30s and N-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, high around 48° with N-NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  It's looking like a very windy day on Thursday too.  It's that gusty time of year!  Oh... it's still looking like a windy and rainy Saturday.

Lovely Monday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up!  Breezes are light out of the N-NW at 6-8mph.  It's a crisp, bright, beautiful briny morning.  It'll be a beauty this Monday as we'll have plentiful sunshine, temps in the low-mid 50s and W-NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clouds filter into the sky with increasing clouds bringing rain showers after midnight.  Temps will drop down again into the upper 30s with S-SW winds shifting to the NE ramping up at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 70%.  Tomorrow... clearing, with sunshine by late morning along with  the winds which will be developing out of the N-NW at 20-30mph.  Need I remind you that it's March.  Oh... remember, the Full Moon is tomorrow which not only brings bright evening skies, but much higher than normal tides.  It's smart to always be aware of low-lying areas on or around the island. Know high tide times and careful not drive through tide waters or park in areas that you may be wary or less confident.

Gale Warnings - Wind Advisories Posted

Mornin'!  It's 51° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  The winds-are-a-howling! And, the Crests of the waves (aka Spindrifts or Cocks Combs) are rampant on the ocean this morning!  We've got W-NW winds at 25-35mph sustained winds +gusting of up to 40+mph.  You can hear the continual wind gales outside as we're in the thick of this sunny windstorm.  It's bright and sunny feeling like 43°.  It'll be a partly sunny - partly cloudy day with temps staying where they are now and winds howling until this afternoon around 3pm.  Tonight... partly clear skies with temps down into the mid-30s and N-NW winds at 10-15mph  Tomorrow... a beauty with sunny skies, temps in the low-mid 50s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  One more week of Standard time by the way.  It's the last weekend of Standard time as this time next weekend, we'll be turning the clocks ahead an hour for darkness to fall an hour later and give us some extra daylight.  And, 16 days until Spring (March 20th).

A "Gale Warning" and "Coastal Flood Advisory" Is Posted

Mornin'!  Happy Friday! It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny.  It feels like 35° with the NE breezes at 10-15mph.  It's time to grab hold and pocket this sunshine as the clouds and winds are planning to check in this later morning and stay until Sunday morning.  There's a "Gale-Warning" and "Coastal Flood Advisory" posted from tonight at 6pm until at least tomorrow morning.  Here's what's happening... sunny start today with clouds pushing their way in late this morning as it'll be raining by this afternoon near dinner time (70% chance) with rainfall all evening throughout the overnight. Temps will be in the mid-40s.  The relentless March winds out of the E-NE at 20-30mph +gusting will begin pounding the coast tonight early evening right into Sunday morning. Those winds push the waters into our streets.  Strap in, secure your stuff and hunker down.  Be aware of those low-lying areas that invariably flood.  Don't park or drive through flood "salty" waters.  Tonight... 45° with steady rain along with winds out of the S-SE at 25-35mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 100%.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly cloudy with temps in the low-50s and W-NW winds at 25-35mph with gusting up to 50mph.  It appears no rain tomorrow by the way.  Sunday... sunny, calm NW winds at 5-10mph.

A Little Of This and A Little Of That

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 4-6mph.  It's feeling like a perfectly good Spring morning.   Everything's dripping wet with the rain along with all the briny, fishy aroma in the air.  The heavy, wet clouds are obviously keeping the island the best it can be... fragrant.  It'll be a gray, rainy morning as temps get into the 50s.  By this afternoon... it appears by sometime mid-afternoon, the sun will be peeking in as temps get up into the upper 50s.  The West winds will  be blowing at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s with North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy start, rain developing in the afternoon with temps in the upper 40s and here we are the first of the many "March Winds"... 20-30mph +gusting out of the E-NE.

March Is In The House

Mornin'!  March has checked in!  It's back.  If you know me, you know that March is my least favorite month.  There's a couple of reasons but I have to first say that since February was so mild and spring-like this year, I'm hopeful that March will just follow suit and continue to bring that mild, lovely weather.  Ha.  Being a Philly girl, I was raised with weather that was much different than the coast's weather.  Little did I know.  I quickly discovered that along the coast in March, it's usually a rough transition into Spring.  While the big City and mainland for the most part begins to bloom and experience warmish, spring-like weather, the coast experiences extremely blustery, non-stop windy conditions.  I've learned that in March, the ocean's temps averages in the low-mid 40s always bringing very cold, strong, damp air over the island in the form of blustery winter winds almost non-stop while everyone else seems to be getting warmth for their blooms and buds and bulbs.  With all that said, February brought some of that spring-like preview here and there are blooms everywhere here on the island as this wild and crazy winter weather hasn't been much of a winter at all.  With all that said, we can only hope that March is as kind.  On that note, here's the weather...
It's 39° with Ms Sun shining brightly this morning.  Winds are out of the ENE at 6-8mph.  It'll be a partly sunny morning becoming cloudy this afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 40s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... 50% chance of rain (occasional showers) into the overnight.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... rain until the afternoon when we'll see peeks of sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 50s with W-NW winds at 8-10mph.  Friday... rain beginning late morning, temps in the mid-40s and East winds at 15-25mph.  The weekend's looking sunny with temps around 50° and just a tad blustery.
