It's the last day of Winter! We made it! It's 45° this morning. The sky is mostly clear with Ms Sun working her way over the cloudy horizon (much like yesterday morning). Winds are out of the NW at 15-20mph making it feel more like 40°. We're going to have a sunny/cloudy mix today with temps around 50° and W-NW winds at 10-20mph. Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s and NW winds at 15-25mph. Tomorrow... mostly sunny, some afternoon cloud cover, temps around 50° and W-NW winds at 15-25mph. Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps in the mid-40s and SW winds at 10-20mph. Thanks for being kind to us this year, Winter. We had no snow along our coast this winter (other than a light dusting) and not much to write home about for any flooding, storm or wind damage etc. For that, I'm very grateful. Until next year when those flipflops get stored away, see ya on the other side.
High Tide: 4:04PM
Low Tide: 9:56AM
Ocean Temp: 48°
Sunrise: 7:05AM
Sunset: 7:09PM
Kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15277569202782014540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2747291283718458543.post-70905726620796779982024-03-17T07:33:00.003-04:002024-03-17T08:55:23.511-04:00St. Patrick's Day

Mornin'! It's 59° in Wildwood NJ. We're under cloud cover as Ms Sun is brightening and painting the sky but not quite getting through. Winds are light out of the SW at 10-12mph. It's really nice outside. It's nice to be home and feeling the salty, briny air again. I had a lovely mini-vacation visiting my friend in the beautiful countryside and mountains of Berks County in Hamburg PA (approx 200 miles away). The weather there this week was just perfect with plentiful sunshine and warmer than usual temperatures. I stayed an extra day and almost stayed another extra day! I'm assuming Wildwood enjoyed some of that lovely weather. To put it in perspective, when I left Hamburg/Reading PA area it was 80° and when I arrived home yesterday afternoon (around 4pm) it was a balmy, beautiful 70° here. My hyacinths are blooming! And, I slept with the windows open last night! With it being only 4 days away, Spring is certainly in the air everywhere.
Today will have considerable cloudiness with 40% chance of rain showers by later this afternoon. Temps will be in the upper 60s with W-SW winds at 10-20mph. Tonight... 50% chance of rain showers, temps dropping to the mid-40s and North winds at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... partly sunny with some cloud cover in the mix, temps in the mid-50s and N-NW winds shifting to the South at 10-20mph. Tomorrow night... mostly clear, temps around 50° and winds out of the South at 10-15mph. Sunday... a mix of clouds and sun, temps near 60° and variable winds at 10-15mph. It doesn't look Wildwood will have any rain this St. Patrick's weekend.
High Tide: 12:23PM
Low Tide: 6:23PM
Ocean Temp: 46°
Sunrise: 7:09AM
Sunset: 7:06PM
Kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15277569202782014540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2747291283718458543.post-57158484921684329942024-03-11T07:22:00.007-04:002024-03-11T07:51:38.885-04:00Mild Temps Ahead This Week

Today's Webcam - North WW

Mornin'! It's March.
There are Advisories Posted today: Coastal Flood Advisory until noon today. Be aware of the possibility of tidal flooding on the island especially in those low-lying areas as the high tide times as much higher than normal due to today's New Moon, a saturated island and those winds aren't helping. There's a Gale Warning in effect until tomorrow at 6pm creating 6-9' seas as well as hazardous seas for any vessels out there. And, there's also a Wind Advisory until 8PM tomorrow. Use extra caution when driving especially high profile vehicles. It's 43° in Wildwood NJ. It feels like 37° with those Easterly winds at 20-25mph. It's gray and misty but no rain showers yet. They're coming though... expect rain showers this morning (90% chance) with winds out of the E-SE at 20-30mph. Temps will rise into the low-50s with E-SE winds at 20-30mph all day into the evening. In fact, tonight the winds will shift from the West at 25-35mph +gusting. There's a 90% chance of rain tonight with temps in the low-mid 40s. Tomorrow... partly sunny / partly cloudy with temps in the upper 40s and West winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Tomorrow night... partly clear, windy with W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting and temps in the low-40s. Monday... partly clear, temps around 50° with winds still doing their March thing at 25-35mph. Strap in! Yesterday I mentioned those St. Patty's revelers.. oops, that's not until next weekend. But there are plenty of visiting folks here as the weekends always seem more inhabited this time of year. I'm sure that will be true next weekend big time. And, speaking of weekends, next weekend doesn't look too promising but I'm not a fan of weather being accurate a whole week away. Remains to be seen. Here's some reminders... before turning in tonight, turn the clocks forward an hour. Tomorrow's sunrise and sunset will be looking later than normal. We don't seem to be getting the rain as heavy as first forecasted today. The big City and the Jersey towns (Millville, Vineland etc) seem to be getting more of a direct hit with heavy, steady rainfall. Nevertheless, be aware of the high tide times and remember the back of the island (marsh, bayside) is an hour later for high tides than the ocean side. Happy International Women's Day! It's 45° in Wildwood NJ. It feels more like 38° with the windchill as winds are blowing out of the NE at 15-20mph. We've got mostly cloudy skies but Ms Sun has been making her presence known and doing everything she can to break on through. I've had a couple peeks shine through the front windows while typing this. We going to have a day of mostly sunshine and blue sky with clouds mixed in from time to time as temps stay in the upper 40s/low 50s with E-NE winds at 10-20mph. Tonight... more clouds than clear sky with temps in the low-40s and E-SE winds at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... another miserable rainy day on tap (90% chance) with cloudy skies, periods of rain by mid-day, temps in the low-50s and E-SE winds at 15-25mph feeling more like 41°. Tomorrow night... rain, temps around 50° and S-SE winds at 20-25mph +gusting. Don't forget to turn your clocks forward one hour before turning in. Sunday... partly sunny / partly cloudy, temps near 50° and wild West winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Daylight savings time will kick off like the March Lion is supposed to. Keep in mind... the New Moon is Sunday and the tides are already reacting to it but much higher than normal tides. That'll make tomorrow even more miserable with some coastal flooding. Most years, March is brutal with its icy winds. We're last to see Spring and feel its warmth as Philly knows it to be. We'll see dogwoods, azaleas, buds on trees etc... last to bloom. But, we are certainly kicking it off with very decent Winter weather albeit it rainy tomorrow. Grateful for that and fingers crossed.
It's 31° in Wildwood NJ. It's calm and feels like 31° with hardly any breeze... E-NE at 2-4mph. It sunny too. Ms Sun's up and shining brightly over the island in the lovely blue sky. We've got a beautiful, crisp, briny morning. It'll stay sunny until mid-day when the clouds begin to filter in and make it a somewhat partly cloudy afternoon. Temps will get into the mid-40s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph. Tonight... rain clouds check in as periods of rain begin late, temps will be in the low-40s with SW winds at 10-15mph. Chance of rain tonight into the overnight is 100%. Tomorrow... cloudy with periods of rain, temps in the low-50s and SE winds at 15-25mph. Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps in the upper 40s with W-SW winds turning W-NW at 10-15mph. Sunday... partly sunny, temps in the low-50s and N-NW winds at 3-5mph.
High Tide: 10:52AM
Low Tide: 5:01PM
Ocean Temp: 42°
Sunrise: 6:31AM
Sunset: 5:52PM
Kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15277569202782014540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2747291283718458543.post-80693722545000194442024-02-29T08:31:00.005-05:002024-02-29T08:36:23.861-05:00Leap Year Day

Mornin'! Happy Leap Year! It's 37° in Wildwood NJ. It feels like 26° with the windchill from the W-NW winds at 15-20mph. Ms Sun's shining brightly and there's barely a cloud in th sky.
So, Leap Year days are needed to keep our calendar in alignment with the Earth's revolutions around the sun. It takes the Earth approximately 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds to circle once around the sun and is called a tropical year. Without an extra (intercalary) day on the 2/29 every four years, we would lose almost six hours every year. By the way... Julius Caesar implemented the first leap year day in 45BC and every four years it's been on the calendar.
It'll be a sunny Leap Year Day. Temps will be in the low-40s with W-NW winds at 15-25mph+gusting. Tonight... mostly clear, temps in the low 30s and NW winds calmed down to 5-10mph. Tomorrow... mix of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-40s and E-SE winds at 5-10mph. Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps in the low-40s with SE winds at 5-10mph. As for the weekend... rain on Saturday, temps around 50° and E-SE winds at 10-15mph. Sunday... partly cloudy with peeks of sun, temps in the low-50s and light and variable winds. And, as I bid adieu to February... I have to give thanks for being kind to Wildwood this year. We had an unusually mild February in 2024 and for that I'm very grateful. Until next year... see you on the other side! Now, where are those straps that we'll need to strap in for March?
High Tide: 10:12AM
Low Tide: 4:20PM
Ocean Temp: 42°
Sunrise: 6:32AM
Sunset: 5:51PM
Kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15277569202782014540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2747291283718458543.post-21509237290241110082024-02-28T07:44:00.005-05:002024-02-28T07:47:23.307-05:00Wet And Windy Wednesday

Mornin'!
