Relief today!
Mornin'! I'm so happy to be writing WW's temp this morning...68 degrees! It's lovely outside this morning. There's relief from the all the storms passing through late yesterday. We were watching the Doppler on the ol' Blackberry while enjoying the beach and saw it coming and got packed up before the huge beach exodus around 4p.m. Today sounds like a nice beach day as it'll be mostly sunny today and warm but with cooler temps...probably staying around the mid-to high 80's. There's a 4mph breeze outside coming from the NW and will switch to a southerly breeze at 10-15mph later. High tide is 8:31A.M./Low tide is 2:23P.M. Ocean temperature:75 degrees. There's a full moon out there today and will rise at 8:27 tonight. Some Native American tribes referred to July’s full Moon as the Full Buck Moon, indicating the time when the bucks began growing new antlers. This full Moon was also known as the Full Thunder Moon, because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month. Sun, moon, sea...whatever your pleasure...we have it here today!

Ho Ho Ho...Bring Back The Snow!
I'm only kidding. I'd rather have the blazing heat than repeat last winter's blizzard. And blazing heat is exactly what we'll have this weekend. Santa's gonna be sweatin' his jollies off today on the beach if he's not wearing a "cool" suit. It's currently 81 this morning in WW. Sun's up and will blaze all day cooking the island at just about 100 degrees. There's a Heat Advisory until 8pm tonight...meaning be careful...stay in air conditioning if possible, hydrate and be aware of elderly, neighbors and pets. The breeze will be 5-9mph out of the WSW (warm breezes). There's no doubt it's a beach day. Keep some things in mind...blazing sun, extremely hot sand, and very warm Santa as North Wildwood celebrates Christmas in July on the beach this afternoon. Water temp will be 78 degrees and high tide is 6:43p.m. tonight. There's a 10% chance of a thunderstorm overnight tonight. Oh...a few important reminders...footwear, sunblock and hydrate. See you on the beach!

Dog Days of Summer
Mornin'! Whew...the heat is still on here in WW. It's truly the dog days of summer and the dog will be hanging around all weekend. It's currently 74 degrees in WW this morning before the sun begins to blaze. Breeze, if you want to call it that is coming from the SSE at 0-5mph. 87% humidity. The temperature will rise into the 90's and keep rising all weekend long. There's a chance (20-30%) of a thunderstorm. If you're hitting the beaches, high tide is 5:56p.m. and the water temperature is 76 degrees. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and don't forget to fill the dog's bowl. By the Way...it's "National Hot Enough For Ya Day."

Dog Days of Summer (thanks Jim)
The dog days of summer, the sultriest time of the year, have undoubtedly arrived.
Some believe that the wicked, mid-summer heat drives dogs mad, hence the expression. But as every pet owner knows, prolonged heat waves do just the opposite. The poor pups pant listlessly in the darkest corners of our homes, hardly lifting a paw.
In fact, the expression has little to do with our canine friends. The dog days (or the dog days of summer) correspond with the rising of Sirius, the Dog Star. In the northern hemisphere, the dog days now fall from July 3 to August 11.
The star Sirius, which means “scorching,” is the brightest star. The ancients believed that Sirius contributed heat to the sun, thus making it the most blistering time of the year.
The dog days were also believed to influence people’s behavior. Feeling tired and listless? Do the dog days have you dragging your feet? Are the plants in your garden wilting? Do as the ancients did. Wait for nightfall and then shake your fist at Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky.
