Another One Bites the Dust...So Long 2012!!!

Mornin'!  It's 33° in WW.  It's a bit overcast and hazy as the moon is glowing but no stars are visible.  More importantly, the winds have thankfully subsided a bit.  Wildwood had a pretty intense weekend in the wind department.  A couple times I could feel the wind's power pulling the energy from the house; so much for being an airtight home.  Today's wifts (I mean wafts) will still be present and be out of the W-SW at 18-23mph.  Temps will be in the low-40's as it'll be party sunny.  Tonight...the revelers will be having weather exactly like it is at the moment...low-mid 30's with those W-SW winds continuing.  Tomorrow's looking like some clouds may be bringing snow for the commencement of 2013 late in the day.  And, the winds will still be checked in for New Years Day.

Windy, Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood as the sun's shining, the wind's blowing and Winter's making its presence known.  Baby it's cold outside!   Winds are brutal this morning and will be all day coming out of the NW at 30-35mph with 40+ gusts.  The trees are getting a good pruning.  It's going to be  mostly sunny, windy and cold all day.  Tomorrow for New Year's Eve...a bit calmer as the winds diminish but still wintry.

Rainy and Raw Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  It's raining ever so slightly.  It looks like it'll be raining all day and possibly turn to snow and/or wintry mix by tonight when the temperature drops.  Today's temps will stay in the mid-40's as the winds will be out of the SE at 12-15mph, switching to the E-NE; then switching it up again by early evening from the N-NW which will bring the more intense winds at 25-30mph.  We may see up to a ½ an inch of rain but the snow...they're all saying a wintry mix or a dusting if we get it at all.  That ol' ocean at 52° is keeping the ol' island insulated and is keeping that wintry stuff at bay.  Not to mention, this winter storm heading this way is supposed to skirt us and pummel the Boston area and coast.  It was a full moon last night and is still somewhat full under those clouds so keep a watchful eye on the flooding streets...it's sea water...and I wouldn't advise driving through it.

Long Nights Moon

Mornin'!  It's 34° in WW.  It'll be a partly cloudy/partly sunny one today as a winter whitener is bearing down on our coast for tomorrow.  May be our first case of "snow"...yes...I wrote that.  Today...begins clear and sunny as clouds filter in throughout the day and temps stay in the 30's.  Those pesky hair-do destroying winds will be diminishing later and by early evening should be just about outta here.  For now though...20-25mph out of the NW.  It's a Full Moon today also known as the "Long Nights Moon" (called by some Native American Indian tribes) or "Full Cold Moon" (due to the long cold nights)...duh!  Not sure how much of that Moon we'll see tonight with that cloud cover forecasters are predicting.  For the most part, a nice, crisp winters day!  Oh yeah, don't forget about the island's tidewaters...avoid driving through.

Everyone Knows It's Windy

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood under clouds.  Those clouds will give way to sunshine eventually today; probably later this morning after the last of the drizzles head out.  Temps will stay around the mid-40's.  Wave action should be around 7 foot.  Winds...oh those winds haven't stopped making their presence known since yesterday as the howling persisted all throughout the night.  They're now coming from the W-WNW at 30-40mph and won't be checking out until tomorrow.  Lovely.  I'm definitely going with winter parka, half a bottle of hair spray and hood up.

Crapola Day After

Mornin'!  It's 36° in WW under cloud filled skies with not a star out there this early morn.  Temps will be rising into the low 50's today as the rain heads our way.  It'll be a rainy one today...100% chance.  The Winds will be out of control as first they'll be normal out of the E-NE at 15-20mph; then shifting around late afternoon from the East all at...get this...45-50mph and they're talking "sustained"!  Add the rain to that and we're talking a major crapola, rainy, windy, raw day this day after Christmas.  Wave action will be as high as 10'.  Full Moon is Friday as the tide is higher so keep all the above in mind when getting around the island...as I'm sure there will be flood advisories with the rain looming.  Try not to drive through flood waters, sometimes it's easier said than done.  Tomorrow's looking decent before the next crapola weather day descends upon us...on the weekend.

Merry Christmas!

Mornin'!  Merry Christmas to all!  It's 40° under cloudy, dark skies this early morn in Wildwood.  Santa paid his visit and had some wet conditions to travel last evening but nothing he couldn't handle.  It'll dry up this Christmas as we celebrate the day away.  Temps will go into the mid-upper 40's as the sun begins shining by late morning/early afternoon.  Winds will be out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  Overall...nice weather on the island for this Christmas 2012.

Happy Christmas Eve!

Mornin'!  Took a tiny hiatus from the blog this weekend.  The entire family was checked in this past weekend as holiday celebrations abounded and continues.  It's been a very memorable Christmas celebration so far...and one of my happiest!  So much to be grateful for.   It's 34° in WW.  It's a bit frosty but the sun's just about to rise above the sea and shine a little light on this Christmas Eve.  Temps will rising to the mid 40's as it'll be partly sunny right up until this afternoon.  After that, clear skies give way to clouds and rain as there's an 80% chance of rain beginning and sticking around throughout the night.  (Sun returns for Christmas Day).  Winds are out of the E-NE at 5-8mph and will shift when the rains arrive out of the S-SW at 20-25mph.  (Bundle up for midnight church sevices).  As we head into our last week of December, it's interesting to note that this month has 5-Saturdays, 5-Sundays and 5 Mondays and next time is March 2013!

Today's the "Shortest Day of the Year"

'Sunrise" 12/20/12 from my front porch
Mornin'!  It's 54° in WW.  It's the Winter Solstice today being the shortest day of the year.  After today it all turns around and each day grows longer.  Before you know it...sunset will be at 8:30p.m. with warm evenings sitting on the beach.  At least we can hope as some believe today is doomsday as predicted on the Mayan Calendar.  If that's true...it's been fun and a great ride and there's nothing greater than seeing readers check out my blog from all over the world!
Ok...weather...There's a flood and wind advisory out this morning until noon.  It's raining to beat the band at the moment and it's wind driven with winds coming in from the W-WSW at 30-35mph w/gusting up to 45mph.  Winds will continue throughout the day although most of the rain clouds should be driven off the island by noon.  The Sun will be making it's presence known this morning off and on but there still is a 40% chance of a shower all throughout the day.  Temps are dropping into the mid-40's.  Chilly, bad hair day for doomsday.

Autumn's winding down..."See You In September"

Mornin'!  It's 38° in WW.  The sky is dark, clear, and still starlit.  It's the darkest before the dawn.  Sun's due up over the horizon in about an hour. (Footnote: it's now an hour later and the sky is the most spectacular one I've seen in quite awhile...bright oranges and corals and some reds and purples thrown in the mix...I just get a bit skeptical when the sky's so reddish..."red sky in the morning...sailors take warning"; just saying.)   It'll be a clear and sunny to start to the last day of Autumn.  Sun will eventually give way to clouds as they filter in bringing rain by late/overnite tonight.  The Sun will return tomorrow afternoon for the Solstice and looks like it will hang out the weekend and the holiday.  Surf looks decent tomorrow too as breezes off the land will produce 6' wave action.  Breezes aren't anything to write about at the moment, but they're coming in later from onshore NE; then shifting from the SE at 10-15mph.  Temps will be more seasonable by only getting into the upper 40's and will probably feel cold and raw when the Sun gives it up.  Got any holiday baking left to do...may be a good one to get 'er done.

Mornin'!  It's 49° this morning in WW.  It's overcast with sun peeking through.  It'll stay like this most of the day today.  There doesn't seem to be any rain in the forecast.  Temps will just about tap 50° so we're just about there.  Tonight...back to tapping the 30's.  Breezes will be out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.

Mixed Bag

Sunset Beach, Cape May NJ
Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood.  A mixed bag ahead as the day begins with fog gone and mostly thick cloud cover (at the moment, I can see big dark spots in the white clouds in predawn sky). We're supposed to have morning rain showers and by this afternoon...peeks of sun.  Temps may even hit the 60° mark.  Breezes will be out of the W-WNW at 15-20mph.  Tonight, back into the low 40's with more chance of sprinkles.  Tomorrow..."the pick" of the week.  Three more days until the Winter Solstice...longest day of the year or the end of the world.

London Calling

Mornin'!  It's 52° in foggy Wildwood this early morn.  It's looking alot like London as the heavy fog lies over the island insulating all sounds as the surf crashing is loud and clear from six blocks away.  No breezes at the moment and it looks like there will be hardly a wift (I mean waft) today out of the NE at 5mph.  If not soupy out there, then we'll see rain showers sporadically throughout the day right into the evening hours.  Temps will hover just where they are now.  All forecasts point to sun returning tomorrow for a couple days.  Winter Solstice in 4 more days!

Gray and Rainy

Mornin'!  It's 48° this gray, damp Sunday morn.  Lots of cloud cover at the moment as we head into a gray, wet day.  Everything's wet outside although I don't feel any rain drops.  I hear the ocean roaring loud and clear though.  It looks like it'll continue to rain right into tomorrow and even Tuesday as well.  Temps will be in the mid-50's while we dodge the droplets.  Breezes will be out of the S-SE at 15-20mph.

Partly Sunny - Partly Cloudy

Sunset Lake, Wildwood Crest NJ
Mornin'!  It's 43° in WW.  Sun's trying with all it's might to shine but the clouds are holding 'er back.  Not too much in the line of breezes, but by this afternoon..8-10mph from the E-NE; then by tonight...E-SE at 10-15mph.  Temps will reach the high 40's, maybe even tapping the 50° mark.  It'll be partly sunny/parly cloudy all day.  Looking rainy tomorrow (cookie baking day)?

TGIF!

The Lobby at Congress Hall, Cape May NJ
Mornin'!  It's 31° in WW.  The sky is clear and starlit.  Let's talk about the sky.  The Geminid Meteor Shower which I failed to mention in yesterday's blog was last night and early this morning.  I didn't realize it was going to happen until I saw last night's evening news.  Never in my life have I seen more than one shooting star.  Last night...5!!!  Five meteors within an hour right in front of my eyes from my back yard.  I was so amazed and so enjoyed that.  Of course I had a wish with each one.  This morning though I waited in the very crispy morning for only a few minutes and saw none.  Ok...the weather forecast for today is a nice one at the Shore.  Mild temps as we'll be in the low 50's with lots of sunshine and blue skies.  Breezes will be light out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking like another 50-50 as Saturday's the better of the two days with Sunday bringing back the moisture and that moisture will be once again sticking around all next week.  Oh...this time next week...Winter Solstice!

Clouds giving way today

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  The sky is cloud filled and overcast.  Not a star to be found this early morn.  The ocean's roaring though as you can hear the surf six blocks away with the clouds insulating its sounds.  The cloudier...the noisier when it comes to hearing the sea.  Those clouds are supposed to break and sun should be in the mix and be predominate most of the afternoon.  Remains to be seen as the sun's doing some hiding out as of late.  It'll be high of 48° so...seasonable temps with breezes from the N-NE at 10-15mph should make for a somewhat pleasant day at the Shore.  Don't forget...new moon today so keep an eye open for any tidal flooding...don't drive through the salt water!

12-12-12

The Pool at Congress Hall, Cape May NJ
Mornin'!  It's a snappy 39° on this 12-12-12 early morn.  That's been a long time in coming and I don't mean the snappy 39°.  So, we're back to more seasonable weather today.  At the moment, it's a bit on the chilly, breezy side with clear, starlit skies.  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun today as temps head into the mid-40's.  No rain in the forecast as we begin to dry out.  Breezes will be out of the N at 10-15mph.  1 day until the New Moon (watch for tidal flooding).  Speaking of days...9 days until the winter solstice.  Might as well mention Christmas too...13 days!

Mixed bag - Happy Birthday Frank...this one's for you!

Christmas in July - North Wildwood, NJ
Mornin'!  It's 50° in WW this early morn.  The sky is partially clear as I can actually see something other than dense clouds or fog...stars are shining in the partial clearing.  Those thick clouds are sticking around as there's a chance (30%) of showers throughout the morning.  Today will be a mixed bag of clouds and some clearing later on.  Doesn't look like we'll see much rain after the morning, but all forecasters are saying today will be partly cloudy/partly sunny...your pick.  Winds will out of the N-NW at 15-20mph.  Temps will be in the mid-50's but will be dropping into the 30's tonight.

Drearies Continue

Mornin'!  It's 55° in WW as the start of the week (and my day off) is going to be exactly as how the work week ending on Friday...mild, gray, dreary, misty, periods of rain.  In fact, we may not see the sunshine until Thursday.  Just saying.  Temps are supposed to tap the 60's today so it won't feel raw and nasty.  It will be breezy though as winds will be out of the S-SW at 15-20mph.  Doesn't appear that any peeks of sun are in the forecast. The dreariness won't stop me from my holiday tasks at hand.  In fact the gray weather prompted me to get things done...the pumpkin soup came out delish yesterday; cookie dough got made; some more shopping finished; got some Cape May touring done and most important...stopped by the sea to feed the soul and keep those drearies away!

Soupy Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  Soup's on as the fog is weighing down heavily on the coast.  It's been foggy since late yesterday afternoon.  Made for perfect ambiance of an evening of walking around spirit-laden and holiday decorated Cape May last night.  I so enjoyed that.  The  fog and rain showers are sticking around all day.  It's wet and drippy but won't be actually raining until later this morning or early afternoon. (50% chance).  Doubt if we'll see any sun today.  It never showed up yesterday.  This soupy weather's going to stick around until Tuesday.  Glad I kept my  decorative baby pumpkins as they're peeled, seeded and simmering for pumpkin soup that I'm hoping we'll enjoy later.  Breezes will be out of the N-NE at 8-12mph today but there's none at the moment.

Happy Hanukkah!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in WW.  It's cloudy and still.  Those intense, heavy rains from overnight are outta here.  It'll be mild today as the temps rise into the high 50's with breezes out of the SW at 8-10mph.  It's supposed to begin clearing up as the clouds check out and peeks of sun check in by this afternoon.  Cloudiness is returning overnight and should be hanging out throughout the rest of the weekend.  Temps will continue to stay up there as we may even see 60° temps into Monday although it could be raining again by then.  Breezes will shift around too as today's SW direction will shift tomorrow from the E-NE and then again on Monday back to SW.  For the beginning of Hanukkah today, a mild one!  Happy Hanukkah!

D-Day

Hereford Lighthouse - North Wildwood, NJ
Mornin'!  It's 40° under cloudy, dark skies this early morn.  Breezes are an afterthought as there are none at the moment.  The surf sounds and sea air are noticable though.  All forecasts are pointing to periods of rain for the next 4 days or so. (No wonder the arthritis is making its presence known). The weekend's looking wet but not a total washout.  Today...a day that will live in infamy (December 7th) will be overcast with rain showers on and off throughout the day (40% chance). Breezes out of the South will be wifting (I mean wafting) in at 11-16mph.  Temps will be just tapping 50°.  Those "on and off" showers will continue throughout the weekend as Saturday...30% chance of rain (although some forecasts report peeks of sunshine mixed in) and Sunday...back to 40% and might as well mention Monday...20% chance of rain.  Looks like holiday raindrop dodging is more than likely.

The Spring feel is fading fast

Ferris Wheel at Morey's Pier, Wildwood NJ
Mornin'!  It's 58° in WW.  Yep...you read that right as it's a mild morning out there.  The sky looks just like it has all week as the heavy broken clouds are giving that glowing hazy moon, ominous, eerie look.  Today will be the transition day as more of a wintry feel is heading our way by this afternoon.  The NW breezes (20-25mph) will be bringing colder temps as we drop down into the low-50's and 40's tonight and by this time tomorrow back into the more seasonable temps...30's.  It'll be party sunny/partly cloudy today but by late afternoon, the sun will probably take over any lingering clouds.  Tomorrow...colder but sunnier as we head into some rainy weather by the weekend.  Could be a gift wrapping / homemade soup making weekend!

Spring in the air

Spring Evening on the Wildwood Boardwalk
Mornin'!  It's 52° at the Shore.  The sky looks much like yesterday's at this same time...partially cloud cover with the moon filtering through ominously as they move slowly out over the sea; eerie but very cool.  These clouds may possibly bring a light shower or two this early morn.  Behind them comes the sun and a warm front.  We're going to see a Spring-like day in WW.  Temps may hit the 70° mark while hubby deciding if he's wearing shorts or not to work today.  Breezes will be out of the S-SW at 10-15mph with some 20+ gusts.  At the moment...no breezes or capris for me.

A Keeper

Mornin'!  It's 52° in WW.  The island's covered in early morning eerie darkness, as the moon is providing light outside amoungst the broken clouds (much like a halloween-werewolf sky).  No breezes to write about.  It's quiet except for the sound of an occasion vehicle driving over the drawbridge not far from here.  Can't hear the ocean's roar today.  Looks like a keeper as it'll be sunny with the temps in the high 50's and possibly even tapping the 60° mark this start to the week.  Breezes will stay minimal from the N-NW to start and switching it up by late afternoon to the S-SE all at a light 5mph.  Like I said...a keeper.

Tip of the Hat to December!

Mornin'!  It's 41° in WW.  It's bright, sunny, crisp, still and a perfect day to start out the month of the Winter Solstice...21 more days!  Which mean the days will grow a little longer each day.  I love the Winter Solstice.  There's a bit of cloud cover this morning which will hang out with the sun all day.  It's making a nice insulator for the sound of the surf as the roaring ocean can be heard.  Temps will rise into the mid-50's as breezes will be only 5-8mph out of the S-SE and appears to be a perfect December Saturday for outdoor decorating.  Just saying.  Looking good for tonight's beach bonfire too as temps will be in the 40's with breezes out of the S-SW at 5-8mph as well.
