See You Next Year November!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's dry and overcast with some spectacular clouds (big puffy cumulous over cloudy sky) in the early morning darkness.  The Winds are still up to their "little nor'easter" (E-NE) 20-23mph and are hanging around all day.  Rains are coming later this morning/early afternoon this last day of November (50% chance) as temps go up into the low 50s.  Tonight...more breezes (Easterly at 20-26mph) and rain (80% chance) and temps in the low 40s.  And, it looks like on and off rain up until Thursday. Until next year...adios November!

Last Sunday in November

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  Oh...after being spoiled with some perfectly gorgeous Indian Summer weather it's a bit on the dreary side this rainy Sunday morning.  The gorgeous-ness is over. The rain's are coming down at a nice clip.  The winds are doing a little rendition of a mini "nor'easter" off the ocean at N-NE at 15-18mph with some minor gusting.  Looks like a rainy one and it'll probably not even tap 50° today.  Tonight...cloudy with a small chance of sporadic showers and temps in the low 40s with those N-NE breezes continuing at 15-18mph.  We'll probably wake to clouds with more rain coming in by late afternoon tomorrow and again on Tuesday day and night and again on Wednesday day and night.  We may see Ms Sun on Thursday.  She seems to be checked out most of this coming week.  I've got some lovely reflection on this past holiday weekend with my family and of course that perfect summer-like weather we had!  It feels good to be back in the salt air though!

Abundant Sunshine on Thanksgiving Day!

Mornin'!  Happy Thanksgiving!  Many blessings to be thankful for this year.  It's 50° in Wildwood.  I slept in a bit this morning and the blog's a bit late but what a beauty to wake up to!  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  It's quiet with no breezes.  We'll have abundant sunshine today with breezes light and variable out of the W-NW at 3-5mph and temps in the get this...low to mid 60s.  Tonight...clear and moonlit with temps in the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the SW at 10-12mph.  Tomorrow...a repeat of today! I'll be heading up the road a bit for the Feast and will probably take a break from blogging on Black Friday until things settle down. But, today and tomorrow do have almost exact forecasts!  Happy Thanksgiving! Sono Grata!

Thanksgiving Eve - Beaver Full Moon Day

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit and it looks like we'll see another lovely sunrise just about an hour from now.  The breezes are not much to note.  But, there is frost on that pumpkin again.  Actually last night, one of those pumpkins was broke down and baked for the pulp that made what looks and smells like a delicious homemade pumpkin pie for tomorrow.  But since I've mention frost...there is some outside on the surfaces and vehicles.  It's a bit on the wintry side as we kick off Thanksgiving eve and the most highly traveled day.  It's going to be nice along the coast today with Ms Sun shining brightly and breezes light and variable (off the ocean) E-NE at 8-10mph.  Temps will be in the low 50s.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 40s.  Breezes will switch just a bit out of the E-SE at 12-15mph. Keep an eye on an early Full Moon rise as it's rising just about the same time Ms Sun is setting and you might as well keep your other eye on tidal flooding as that Full Moon always seems to bring us higher than average tides.  Be safe if you're one of those traveling today!

Thanksgiving Eve eve

Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood.  Feeling a little like winter out there this morning as there's a little frost the pumpkin!  It's just 28 days until the Winter Solstice (the 1st day of winter and shortest day of the year). Our furnace is once again fired up and heatin' the ol' seashore cottage!
It's clear and starlit with no breezes.  It's very quiet with no breezes to note and you can hear the sounds of the surf crashing six blocks away (not counting our enormous Wildwood beach).  Ah...the crisp, sea air...it never fails to cure what ails ya!
It's going to be fairly nice one today as Ms Sun will be shining down brightly and warming us as the temp taps 50°.  By the way, it looks like Ms Sun is checked in until Saturday as the temps creep up a little each day this week.  Today's Winds will wift (I mean waft) over the island later this morning from the SW at 12-14mph.  Tonight...temps back into the mid-upper 30s with Winds shifting from the North light and variable at around 6-9mph. Full Moon's tomorrow and you know the drill...could be some tidal flooding.

November’s full Moon is called the Beaver Moon because it was the time to set beaver traps before the waters froze over. This Moon was also called the Full Frost Moon.
Also, did you know...The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite and rotates on its own axis about once for every 27.3 days as it takes to rotate the Earth? And...The Moon is about 30 times the diameter of the Earth as temperatures on the Moon can drop to 250 degrees below zero.

Abundant Sunshine

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood.  It's still dark but the sky is amazingly starlit and so beautiful.  It's blustery and the winds are howling down the streets (N-NW 24-29mph w/gusting). It's feeling wintry and crisp out there.  Chill factor today too...feeling like 29°! Still no heat on but I just turned the gas fireplace on to take that ol' chill out of the house.  It'll be sunny and cloudless today as temps rise a bit to the low 40s.  The winds are hanging out throughout the day and will simmer down by this evening (N-NW 14-17mph) as the temps head back down a bit into the mid-upper 30s.  Tomorrow...much of same but a tad warmer.

52nd Anniversary of the Assassination of John F. Kennedy

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  Fifty-two years ago today is the first day in my life that I felt terror and collective grief as the loud speaker in my classroom announced that "President Kennedy has been shot and killed and you are all dismissed". It was "major" in every way. And, since that day, I've always somehow made it a point to do reflection on November 22nd.
Onto the weather at the seashore...we've currently got breezes (North at 22-26mph) and cloud cover.  Everything's damp and a bit drippy so my guess is we had us some light rain on the overnight.  It's the kind of moisture that just shades the surfaces outside.  Anyway...it's almost daybreak but I'm going with "no grand entrance over the horizon for Ms Sun" this morning. Weird...as all week I thought we were going to have a nice weekend.  Actually yesterday was mostly very nice on the earlier half of the day as I took a nice long walk on the 99% empty boardwalk (today's photos).  Today's looking very "iffy" though as not one forecast I've researched says "sunshine". In fact, showers are likely, mainly before 1pm.  Looks like it'll be mostly cloudy, with a high near 50° or maybe even upper 40s (temps will drop today). It'll stay breezy, with a NW wind at 16 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. It's looking more and more like "another log on the fireplace" kind of day.
Tonight...the clouds begin to check out and it'll be mostly clear with temps in the low-mid (get this) 30s!  And, I'm serious about a chill factor as it'll be breezy, with a North wind 17 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. I'd get the winter parka handy! Oh, and for what it's worth...blue-sky sunny day tomorrow "and" Thanksgiving day (which looks like a 60+ degree day)!

Partially Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's on the rise and will be crossing the horizon very shortly.  It's breezy and chilly (NE 17-21mph).  A little bite in the salt air this morning!  It'll be a mix of weather today as it'll be mostly clear, brisk and sunny but some clouds are going to slowly filter in as by the afternoon. Winds will have shifted by then from the E-SE at 12-15mph. By tonight and during the overnight...S-SE at 13-18mph with a 40% chance of a shower as temps drop back in the mid-upper 40s.  Tomorrow we may be starting the day with clouds and a leftover shower as Ms Sun tries to break on through and make it a sunny Sunday.  I have to admit this wasn't the forecast I was mentioning this week but weather is sometimes unpredictable and can change very spontaneously.  Looks like a keeper along with a Full Moon for Thanksgiving which will be the focus of my attention this week for sure!

TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood.  It's breezy and crisp as last night's rain clouds are checking out as I type.  The horizon looks like its brightening as the Ms Sun's about to rise and will be shining down all day.  It'll be breezy and chilly today as temps drop down into the low 50s. Winds will be out of the N-NW at 15-25mph.  Tonight...clear with temps just about tapping 40° and breezes out of the North at 14-16 mph.  The weekend...cooler and almost the same as today with a little more cloud cover and even a slight chance of a shower on the overnight Saturday and during the day Sunday (30% chance).  I'm relying on Ms Sun to give us the warmth we need though (my home's heat isn't on yet).  Today though...eh not so bad...another beautiful, brisk Autumn day down the shore!

Blustery and Wet

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  Those ocean breezes (S-SE 23-30mph) are blowing the slightly opened bedroom window curtains straight out and making me happy this early morn. I can hear the surf!   What a great way to greet the day!  It's cloudy and dry at the moment as we're expecting some morning showers (70% chance) any time now.  Temps will rise just a bit into the mid 60s today as steady rains (100% chance) are headed right for the island.  Winds will be stiff and out of the South at 25-41mph.  I guess it would be remiss of me not to mention tidal flooding.  You know you'll see it with the tides this afternoon especially with the autumn leaves and sea grass reeds clogging up the street drains and back flow. The Full Moon isn't until this time next week so we'll have a bit of a break in that regard.
Tonight...remaining windy shifting from the SW at 24-35mph, low 50s and continued showers. The rains will taper off during the night (early morning). Ms Sun should be at the horizon tomorrow morning!

Sun and Clouds this Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood.  It's still dark and starlit with amazing breezes coming off the ocean (SE at 16-20mph) this morning.  The fragrance is intoxicating as nothing's better than waking to that (unless you like the mountain air). We're going to have a mix today with sunshine to start and clouds to finish this hump day.  Ms Sun's due over the horizon in an hour and she'll have her work cut out for her today as it'll be a partly sunny/partly cloudy day as eventually the clouds win out.  Temps will get into the low 60s and those winds...blustery off the ocean (SE at 18-27 w/gusting) will be ramping up even more so by tonight.  Rain's-are-a-coming as there's a 30% chance of rain showers on the overnight tonight.  By tomorrow it'll be rip-roaring as the winds will be off the chart with rain coming down (100% chance).  Don't fret...Ms Sun's back Friday and it looks like she intends to stay checked in for a week!

Not Quite A Repeat of Yesterday

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood.  Since we're on temperatures...that ol' thermometer won't be getting much higher today as temps are staying in the upper 50s all day today.  It's nice outside as there's a gusty ocean breeze with clear, starlit skies.  After stepping onto the back porch to check the porch thermometer and weather conditions my husband asked "Nice out there huh?"  I couldn't agree more.  I think it's that sea fragrance welcoming the day.   It'll be nice today with mostly sunny skies (some clouds in the mix) and some stiff breezes off the ocean East at 16-22mph (w/gusting) and temps in the upper 50s.  It won't be as warm as yesterday which was an "Indian Summer" day for sure.
Tonight...more of the same with mostly clear (with a bit more clouds in the mix) conditions and temps in the upper 40s/low 50s and breezes out of the East at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...more clouds than sun as rain is on the way tomorrow night and Thursday.  Today's a keeper!

Monday Beauty

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood.  It's still dark but quiet (no breezes to note), clear and starlit.  Ms Sun's waiting her turn as she prepares for her rise and shine.  It looks like a beautiful autumn day down the shore.  Temps will be in the mid 60s as breeze wift (I mean waft) over us from the W-NW at 5-10mph while the sunshine warms us.  Tonight...remaining clear with temps in the mid 50s and breezes shifting later tonight from the W to the NE at 10-12mph.  Looks like repeat for the next couple days as rain isn't due to check in until middle of the night Wednesday.  Enjoy this one!

New Jersey and Montgomery Avenues, Wildwood NJ
Mornin'!  It's 42° in sunny Wildwood and finally quiet again with no breezes to report.  My yard looks like a cyclone went through it as Mother Nature's winds have been doing a  nice pruning on my trees.  The winds will stay mostly quiet today (W-SW at 9-14mph) as Ms Sun shines down brightly and temps tap 60°.  Tonight...remaining quiet with winds out of the West at 10-15mph and temps down into the upper 40s.  Tomorrow...just about the same albeit a tad warmer.

Windy Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood.  It's clear as Ms Sun's just waiting for her grand entrance.  It'll be sunny and windy today.  Let's talk about those winds...gusts are the key word today.  The winds will be out of the West at 25-35mph with gusting 40+mph.  Temps will hover around where they are now...mid 50s.  Tonight...gusty winds out of the West 25-35mph with 40+mph gusts as temps drop into the upper 40s.  Tomorrow...same as today...sunny (with some clouds in the mix) and winds...lots and lots of gusty winds.  Sunday...sunny with those winds finally subsiding.

Thursday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood.  We're under some cloud cover again but the sky at the horizon is beginning to brighten and those clouds are making things look absolutely amazing.  Even though it's still mostly dark, parts of the sky are beautifully colored with coral and orange hues.  In fact, it's beginning to turn red.  Red sky we don't want to see (Red sky in the morning; sailors take warning).  Anyway...no breezes (yet).  It's going be a decent start to the day with mostly cloudy conditions.  By noon...the weather will begin to take another shape.  Scattered showers, mainly between noon and 5pm are on the way. For the most part it will be cloudy today with temps in the low-mid 60s. Southeast winds 6 to 11 mph becoming South 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon and by tonight shift from the West at 20-23mph w/gusting. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Tonight, temps drop down into the upper 40s as the clouds clear on out of here. Tomorrow begins a stretch of sunny weather but those winds will be hanging around for a few days!  At least until Sunday.

Thank You Veterans!

Hubby and Compadres
Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood.  We're under some partially ominous cloud cover as daybreak is happening as I type.  Ms Sun's got her work cut out for her.  It's breezy (NW 18-23mph) and it appears these winds are pushing the heavy clouds out to sea.  Most forecasts are saying that the clouds will eventually make way for a sunny day but will check back in later this evening.  There is a 20% chance of a spritz this morning.  Temps will tap 60° as it'll stay breezy. Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the low 50s with North winds 10-15mph.  There's a "new" moon today so we may see some tidal flooding.  It's also "Veterans Day" today and for all those who are serving or have served our country..."thank you".  A tip of the hat while the American flags are furling in your honor today!

FOOTNOTE: It's 10:15a.m. and the sun has yet shine in Wildwood.  In fact there's thick cloud cover with a very light mist (on my windshield) from the ocean spray I guess.  So I'm going with "cloudy day" with possible peeks of sun this 11th of November Veterans Day which is the reason why I'm enjoying a paid day off from work. Thank you again.  I also failed to mention in this morning's blog that rain returns tomorrow (50% chance).

Miserable Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood.  We're in the midst of pouring down rains with windy conditions (E-NE 26-40mph).  This is the perfect day to ignore the alarm clock, pull the comforter up to your chin and roll over for some extra cozy sleep.  Not happening as it's just another work day down the Shore.  We're going to have steady rain today (100% chance) with those intense winds kicking up and gusting throughout the day and evening.  Temps will hover around the low 60s.  Tonight...clouds and rain showers (60% chance) with temps in the low 50s and winds still ramped up out of the E-NE at 25-35mph.  I'm sure we'll see tidal flooding with this heavy down pouring as well as a New Moon peeking around the corner.  A New Moon has the same effect as the Full Moon when it comes to the Tides.  You may want to consider the "wellies" today!

Monday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  We're under some spotty cloud cover and the aroma of fuel is in the air.  I'm not sure what gives but it's pretty intense as it nearly took my breath away it was that strong.  No breezes to note yet this early morn.  The forecasts I've checked all said the same thing...mix of clouds and sun today.  Breezes will wift (I mean "waft") over us a little later from the East at 13-15mph as clouds increase and temps get up into the low 60s.  Tonight...looks like rain (70% chance) closer to midnight as temps head back down into the mid 50s and winds remain out of the East.  Tomorrow...more rain.  Wednesday (Veteran's Day) looks like a keeper though!  Speaking of Wednesday..."new moon" and that always brings higher and lower tides so take heed!

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's almost shining brightly as she pushes through the remaining morning haze left behind by yesterday's clouds and rains.  We never got much rain just light sprinkles and drizzles off and on.  Today though...all that is checking out as it'll be sunny and cool with temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Breezes will be out of the North at 4-8mph.  Tonight...clear and cool as temps head back down into the low 40s and breezes shift from the West at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow...more sun and warmer temps (tapping 60°).

1st Half of the 50-50

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood.  It's quiet and still with no breezes to note.  Ms Sun's trying her best to rise and shine but seems to have her work cut out for her as there's major cloud cover trying to obscure any morning sunshine and brightness.  It feels nice out though as it's mild and still and the air is full of the aroma of the ocean. I've blogged all week that the weekend's going to be 50-50 with Sunday being the better of the two days.  It'll be mostly cloudy (although at the moment there are peeks of sun) with occasional drizzles and showers (70%) on today's menu.  Temps are as high as they're going to get at the moment as they'll begin dropping as the day progresses down into the the low 50s and tonight...upper 40s.  Winds will eventually pick up out of the W-NW at 10-15mph and by tonight...ramp up 20-25mph with just a slight chance of a shower.  Tomorrow...clear and sunny with temps in the upper 50s/low 60s.

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  We've got us a mild, quiet (no winds), cloudy, slightly foggy morning on the island.  The fog and clouds are supposed to clear out and give us a partially sunny first half of day with temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the S-SW at 15-20mph.  50% chance of rain showers as the clouds take over tonight.  Temps will be where they are now...low 60s and breezes out of the SW at 20-25mph.  Looks like a "sleep-in" day tomorrow as the clouds and rain greet the day.  Sunday still looks like a sunny one and better of the two weekend days.

Thursday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  It's clear with Ms Sun waiting in the wings to cross the horizon.  There are some scattered clouds in the sky and I'm not sure if they'll have any effect on the morning sunrise.  A couple forecasts I've checked said fog was in the morning forecast but nothing on the island yet this morning.  There are no breezes to note either.  It's a lovely autumn morn.  We do have rain on the forecast today as cloud cover will take over as there's a 40% chance of an occasional scattered shower today (by this afternoon) as temps go into the low 70s.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of a shower and breezes out of the South at 12-14mph with temps in the low 60s. The weekend's still looking 50-50 with Sunday being the better of the two days as Saturday looks like we could be getting rain.

Sunny Hump Day

Mornin'! It's 51° in Wildwood.  Complete normalcy returns today as I head back to work and sit in an office (except for my lunch hour where I'll spend at the beach). At the moment we're under quiet, clear conditions.  It's still dark as the sky is filled with stars and no breezes to note.  It'll be a repeat of yesterday...plenty of sun and warmth with temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes light and variable out of the NE at 6-7mph.  Tonight...some clouds and maybe fog rolling in with temps back into the mid-50s and breezes SE at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow looks like we could get some rain (30% chance).  The weekend's 50-50 as Saturday looks like more rain (50% chance) and Sunday...sunny.

Election Day!

Key West Sunset
Mornin'!  Happy Election Day!  I'm back!  It's 49° in Wildwood.  I just put on my fuzzy robe and slippers and since this little seashore house of mine hasn't had heat on yet this season, it's a bit on the chilly side.  In fact, hubby just fired up the gas fireplace to take the chill out of here. All I can say is thank goodness I have off from work today (due to election day) as we arrived home around 7pm last night after a full day of "up and at'em" and travel from the summery, southern most part of the USA...Key West!  It was right up there with one of the best vacations we ever had as we not only made this a celebration of our 44th wedding anniversary but one of the biggest Halloween (my favorite holiday) parties you could attend!  Today will certainly be more of relaxation and recovery time (I intend to make it to the Polls too of course).  Summer is now officially over for us  as we had near 90° days and low 80° evenings for 10 days!
So, let's get on with Wildwood's weather shall we?  It's a lovely, crisp morning down the shore as Ms Sun's already warming things up.  It'll be a beautiful Fall day with clear skies and sun pouring down all day and temps in the mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the N-NE at 5-6mph.  There are no breezes now as it's a tad different checking on my tree out front for any rustling since all those colorful leaves are now gone.  Tonight...temps down into the low 50s with clear, starlit skies and light and variable winds.  Tomorrow...same as today!
