Stormy Full Moon Monday The Last Day Of November

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  We're waking to a miserable day.  There's nothing worse than miserable Mondays (unless you're retired and have no where to be)!  It's raining at a decent clip with winds out of the E-SE at 20-25mph +gusting.  It's going to be a stormy, rough weather day along the Coast.  There's a pretty gigantic storm system covering Wildwood as well as Philly down to Virginia at the moment.  We're all getting winds and rains.  We're looking at a high tide within the hour (always remember that the high tides on the back side of the island are an hour later than the ocean side). Be cognizant of where you trek, drive or park today.  Low-lying areas will without a doubt flood.  It's also the Full Moon today and the tides will certainly be much higher than normal.  Expect a very windy day (S-SE at 25-35mph +gusting) with showers and thunderstorms likely.  High of 64°.  Tonight... by dinner time, the rains should be checking out but there's a 20% chance of a shower or two posted.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s with SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... colder, windy with partly sunny / partly cloudy skies and a high near 50°. See ya next year November!

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cold but Ms Sun's up and beginning today's warm-up!  It's clear and brisk with calm breezes out of the W-NW at 2-4mph.  Like yesterday, we're going to have a good deal of sunshine again.  Temps will hover around the mid-50s with SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clouds and winds take over and by midnight... 80% chance of rain developing, temps dropping into the low-50s with SE winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... strap in as another coastal storm is due in.  Expect wet, windy conditions with temps in the low-60s and S-SE winds at 25-35mph+gusting.  Also, tomorrow's the Full Moon so be aware of low-lying areas that flood as we're certain to have Tidal Flooding.  Watch where you park your vehicle and don't drive through flood waters.  By dinner time, the rains will be checking out and taking the warm temps and blustery winds with it.

Partly to Mostly Sunny Saturday

North Wildwood - Hereford Lighthouse Courtyard
Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with no breezes to note.  It's quiet with only the sounds of the ocean crashing on the beach thanks to these clouds. They insulate the sounds of the island.  Living 6+ blocks away from the ocean usually means that only seldom you get to hear the surf and with thick cover and no breezes... it's the perfect setting.  It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps climbing up a bit to the upper 50s.  W-NW winds are due in at about 10-15mph.  It'll be a nice weather day for the Wildwood's Chamber of Commerce presentation of its first Outdoor Holiday Shopping event at the Byrne Plaza in downtown Wildwood from 10:30-4:30.
https://wildwoodsnj.com/event/wildwoods-outdoor-holiday-shopping-village/
Tonight... clear, moonlit skies but much colder.  Temps will be in the upper 30s / low 40s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, high near 55° and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Monday... a strong eastern storm will develop early with soaking rain, wind and thunderstorms possible.  It's a "soaker" meaning "tidal flooding" can be expected especially with the full moon Monday.  Start making a plan.

Black Friday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  The cloudy conditions continue down the Shore.  Not much in breezes to note.  In fact the forecasts I researched said "N-NE at 0-1mph".  It's going to be mild today.  Temps will be in the low-60s.   Expect mostly cloudy skies (some peeks of sun... probably like yesterday; barely there).  Winds will be barely there too... "light and variable" as they call it.  Tonight... still very cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 40s and winds N-NW at 2-4mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun's back with intervals of cloudiness, a high of 56° with NW winds ramping up some at 15-20mph. Sunday looks like a repeat of tomorrow but not so much for Monday.  We're on the schedule for a intense rainy-windy day on Full Moon Monday.  The last day of November could be "get out the wellies" kind of flood-day as it gives the ol' good-bye salute.  I'll be watching and reporting.

Thanksgiving 2020

Mornin'!  Happy Thanksgiving!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with winds out of the S-SW at 15-20mph this Thanksgiving morning.  We've got showers ahead this morning (60% chance) and by mid-day, these rain clouds should be checked out of here.  It'll be a partly to mostly cloudy, windy day beginning this afternoon with temps in the low-60s and SW winds at 15-25mph.  There will be peeks of sunshine which will brighten things up a bit.  There is a 20% chance of a passing shower late this afternoon.  Tonight... a few clouds with still a 20% chance of a shower.  Temps drop to upper 40s and winds N-NW at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny with a high of 57° and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday and Sunday... sunny and temps in the low-mid 50s.  Hubby and I are celebrating our 54th Thanksgiving together (we met as kids in 1966). As we celebrate together without our family surrounding the table this year, we have very much to be thankful for... those wonderful kids of ours, their partners and our grandkids, our health, our love, our little piece of Wildwood and delicious food on our table to celebrate it all today.  Wishing all those who take time to read my daily weather blog... here's to better and less stressful days ahead!  Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Eve

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a bit breezy (S-SW 9-11) and on the hazy side with those milky clouds overhead.  Ms Sun's getting through a little though.  She's been up for awhile now... the blog's a little on the late side due to some food prep first thing this morning.  Cornbread stuffing is getting prepped today and I wanted to get that cornbread in the oven before blogging.  Nothing like the aroma of fresh coffee and cornbread baking!  Anyway... it'll be a partly to mostly cloudy day as any sunshine we do get will probably be this morning as Ms Sun will give way to a cloudy sky today.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... 60% chance of rain, temps in the low 50s and Southerly winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... Turkey Day's looking wet with 80% chance of rain throughout the morning and afternoon.  But, by the evening (around 5-6pm) the rains should shift on out with some cloud cover leftover.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday looking nice with plenty of sunshine and all three days in the 50s (some upper 50s and some lower 50s).  Monday... Full Moon day as we're headed for quite a stormy day.  And, we all know that storms with full moons are very tricky.

Mostly Sunny Today

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear outside with moonlight and starlight filling the pre-dawn sky.  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 10-12mph making it feel like 36°.  It's certainly crisp out there this morning.  We're going to warm up nicely though with mostly sunny skies (some clouds in the mix) and temps around 50° with the N-NW winds at 10-15mph sticking around.  Tonight... clouds roll in and thicken as it'll be partly to mostly cloudy with SE breezes at 5-8mph and temps down into the low-40s.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy day with temps tapping 60° and breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Thanksgiving Day is still looking wet with rain showers likely and a high of 62°.  By that second slice of pie in the evening, the clouds clear out and the stars and moon will begin shining bright in the clear, night sky.  While researching today's weather I read that this year's Winter Solstice's evening sky (December 21st) will be treating the world to something not seen since the Middle Ages in 1226.  Jupiter and Saturn will appear as if they're a double planet on this shortest day of the year. It'll happen in the Western sky just after sunset. From Earth's perspective, it'll appear as though these largest of the world's planets will be touching.  It doesn't last for long as the planets drift below the horizon fairly quickly after sunset.

Gray, Wet Start and Clear, Dry Finish

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with breezes out of the SW at 4-6mph.  It feels mild with these slightly warmer than normal temps but things are expected to change a bit.  The chance of scattered thunderstorms are headed this way.  They'll be all around us.  The winds have their sites on us too.  There's a 60% chance of rain (and storms) this morning along with winds ramping up out of the NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  By late this morning / early afternoon... it'll become partly sunny, then sunny with temps dropping into the low-50s.  Winds will stay put out of the NW at 15-25mph.  Tonight... clear, cold (temps in the low-40s) with continued winds out of the NW at 10-20mph giving us a nice windchill.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with a high of 50° and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  At this time, it looks like Thanksgiving will be wet down the Shore as a rainy day is in the forecast.  Seems like perfect ambiance for roasting a turkey with all the fixins and being with hubby celebrating our good fortune and gratefulness as we enjoy a private feast for two!  Thankful for Zoom!

Not A Real Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got mostly cloud cover at the moment as Ms Sun tries all she can to peek on through those front windows of my house.  It's bright and cheery but not quite sunny.  It is breezy... winds are out of the East at 10-20mph.  We're going to have a 60° day,  mostly cloudy, on the breezy side (South at 10-15mph) with peeks of sun on and off at least until late afternoon.  Then, the clouds will thicken and take over the skies.  Expect rain showers  later this evening (possibly even thunderstorms developing overnight) with temps dropping to around where they are now (low 50s).  Winds will be out of the South at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... waking in the morning to rain showers as the clouds begin to hit stage left around noon.  Winds will be ramped up though out of the W-NW at 20-30mph.  Expect mostly clear skies in the afternoon and evening.  Tuesday will be clear and sunny with temps barely tappin 50°.

A Perfectly Lovely Saturday!

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up.  Breezes are barely there out of the W-NW at 2-4mph.  It's clear and calm with the fragrance of the salty sea in the air.  I can hear seagulls laughing in the distance.  As a matter of fact, I slept with the bedroom window slightly opened and those birds are what woke me.  I wouldn't call that a bad thing that's for sure.  It's one thing I can never get tired of hearing.  Expect a repeat of yesterday's weather today.  It'll be sunny and warmish with temps in the low-mid 60s.  NW breezes at 5-10mph will be wifting (wafting) over the island.  Tonight... a few clouds filter in as temps drop into the upper 40s with NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... a gray day with a 20% chance of scattered rain showers, temps in the upper 50s and Easterly winds at 10-20mph with 70% chance of rain tomorrow night.  I'm thinking chilly and raw tomorrow.  Monday... beginning with rain and by mid-day, peeks of sunshine.

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  No frost on the pumpkin this morning!  I think my leafy greens (parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, chives, oregano and cilantro) are doing very well for the Thanksgiving food prep cutting.  It's feeling a bit mild with temps higher than they have been.  Ms Sun's up and already beginning the warm-up for today.  Breezes are out of the SW at 10-15mph.  It'll be another pleasant autumn day (albeit breezy) with plentiful sunshine, temps in the low-60s and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear sky, temps around where they are now (upper 40s) and W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a repeat of today but with less winds.  Sunday... cloudy day feeling raw with temps in the 50s along with stiff winds.

Pleasant (Breezy) Autumn Day

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining in the clear blue sky.  Breezes are barely there out of the S-SW at 0-2mph.  It's crisp and a bit wintry this morning.  I covered my garden greens (parsley, cilantro and sage) and all is well this slightly frosty morning.  It'll be a pleasant autumn day with plenty of sunshine, temps in the low-mid 50s and S-SW winds (checking in by mid-day) at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the low-mid 40s and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, still windy and temps in the low-60s!!!  The weekend's looking "eh" with Saturday being the nicer of the two days with lots of warm sunshine and temps in the upper 50s but Sunday with mostly cloud cover even with those same temps for sure will change things up a bit.  It will no doubt feel much cooler.

Cold Autumn Day On Tap

The Ol' Marsh Shot - Webcam North Wildwood

5th Avenue Boat Ramp - Webcam North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  We're getting some NW winds at the moment at 15-25mph creating a windchill of 28°.  There goes the remaining garden lettuce and cilantro leaves.  But, then again sometimes those leafy greens hold out until the first frost and we haven't had that yet.  I just researched the last time we woke to temps this cold and it was October 31st.  It was our first preview of Winter.  On  November 13th "2019",  it was 26° with a windchill of 15° and that was last year's first preview of Winter.  I'd say our morning windchill today is no joke at 28°.  I was on the webcams researching and there are people out jogging on the boardwalk.  Too cold for me.  I'll wait until later when Ms Sun's up and beginning her warmup to get my walk in.  Anyway... at the moment, we're clear straight above but clouds are surrounding the island.  There are some clouds over the Marsh and thicker clouds over the horizon.  Ms Sun's on her in about 15 minutes but sunrise will probably be delayed as the clouds obscure her.  Expect a brisk sunny day with temps in the low-mid 40s and N-NW winds at 15-25mph creating a winchill of the low-30s.  Tonight...  clear and cold with a low of 31° and North winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny and warmer with temps in the low-mid 50s.  Those blustery winds are hanging around though.  As for this weekend... looking like a cloudy weekend but temps will be tapping 60°.  Go figure.

Mornin'! It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly cloudy / partly sunny (Ms Sun rose about a half hour ago) with hardly a breeze (SW 2-4mph).  It seems that the cloud cover is over the marsh again as those morning pastels are in the sky again thanks to that beautiful sunrise!  It's cold and crisp and lovely.  Expect a mix of clouds and sun today with temps in the mid-50s along with stiff winds heading our way again.  Winds will be coming from the West at 20-30mph +gusting.  At least we're saving money on hairspray the last week or so.  Oh... there's a 20% chance of rain showers around 2-3mph.  Tonight... mainly clear with a low of 40° and N-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, mid-40s and N-NW winds at 15-25mph.

Blustery Monday

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 49° with the W-NW winds still ramped up a bit at 15-20mph.  It was quite a blustery day and night yesterday.  We're saturated again with those overnight rains.  But, with Ms Sun (she's been up and is shining on the island as I type) shining today and the winds at 15-25mph today out of the West, we should be drying out nicely.  Today's temps won't rise that much... mid-50s.  Tonight... still a bit breezy with temps in the upper 40s and mostly clear skies.  Winds will be out of the W-NW at 10-13mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy with gusty winds developing by the afternoon (20-30mph) with temps in the low-mid 50s.  There's also a 20% chance of rain tomorrow.

Super New Moon

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and a bit breezy with S-SE winds at 7-11mph.  Ms Sun's on her way in about a half an hour.  The sky has begun to brighten along the horizon with shades of lovely pastels.  Expect a sunny start to the day with clouds rolling in by this afternoon.  Temps will reach the mid-60s with those pesky, annoying, March-like winds checking in a little later this morning... S-SE at 25-35mph +gusting (occasionally at 40+mph).  Tonight... winds "and" rain with a low of 47° and West winds at 25-35mph +gusting over 50mph!  Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns with gusty winds out of the West at 20-30mph +gusting.  Temps will be in the mid-50s.  Today is the "Super New Moon" meaning the moon's orbit is at the closest point to earth... known as the "perigee".  A "New Moon" is the opposite of a Full Moon.  During a Full Moon, we see the side of the Moon that is illuminated by the Sun, giving the Moon its bright glow.  During a New Moon, the moon's orbit around the earth is between the earth and Sun.  From earth, the New Moon looks almost invisible because the illuminated side is facing away from the earth. We see the side of the moon that is not being illuminated which makes the moon blend in with the darkness of the night sky.  Remember though, this New Moon still affects the tides exactly like a Full Moon. The tides are going to be much higher than normal and remember... the high tides are always an hour later on the marsh side of the island than the ocean side.  Take heed if it's raining tonight during that high tide time.  Be aware of those low-lying areas on the island especially where you drive or park your vehicle as tidal flooding is inevitable.

Dry Out Day

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun just rose over the horizon and has begun shining in the (finally) cloudless sky.  Breezes are barely there out of the NW at 3-5mph.  We're still feeling chilled, damp and saturated at the moment but we're going to have a bit of a dry-out today with sunny skies all day, a high of 55° and NW breezes at 10-14mph.  Tonight... clear with some partial cloud cover; back to 43° and NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... the winds check in along with cloud cover and a 60% chance of rain with temps in the mid-60s.  Those blustery winds will be out of the South at 25-35mph +gusting (at times at 50mph).  Strap in!

Friday the 13th

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's Friday the 13th!  The blog's a bit late this morning due to accumulated lost, much needed sleep.  Maybe the weather?  It's dark and gray with that cloudy, damp, raw and a bit ominous feel.  We've been saturated with the recent past couple of days of rainfall.  Plus, the humidity's 91%.  Winds are light out of the NW at 4-6mph.  We're starting out gray and damp with all this cloud cover eventually giving way to partial clearing and peeks of sunshine.  Expect partly sunny / partly cloudy skies with temps just about tapping 60° and NW winds ramping up at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear with a low of 56° and NW winds hanging around still at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... a beautiful blue-sky, sunny day but with a high of 55° and still very breezy.  Sunday... mostly cloudy with a high of 65°.

A Nice Stretch Of Watering!

5th Avenue Dock - North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining at a decent clip.  It's been raining since yesterday afternoon.  My backyard has about 1½" of water in it.  Our drainage once all the homes around us put in their cement driveways and yards especially yards with landscape ground barrier fabric under stones has left us with a constant flood situation when we have these heavy, non-stop rains.  It seems the rain water directs its attention to our yard and skips over everyone around us.  Weird but predictable phenomenon.  The streets around us are good to go... no flooding there.  It's going to rain all day today and tomorrow.  Along with the rain today, temps dropping to the mid-50s.  There are no breezes to note now but they're coming from the North at 10-20mph.  Heavy rainfall is possible.  Tonight... 50% chance of rain with occasional showers after midnight, temps around 50° with NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... more rain, high of 60° with N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  For the weekend... Saturday is sunny but chilly (low-50s) and Sunday is a bit cloudier and warmer (low-60s).

One More Beauty On Tap

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  It's another lovely start to the day.  We've got some cloud cover (mostly on the marsh side of the island) with clear skies along the ocean horizon.  Ms Sun's due up any moment and if these clouds hold out, she'll be brightening things up.  It's somewhat quiet with barely a breeze to  note. These clouds are an insulator for sound as the roar of the ocean is pronounced 6+ blocks away making the morning even nicer!  Expect a mostly sunny day again with temps in the upper 60s (maybe tapping that 70° mark again) and S-SW breezes at 7-11mph.  Tonight... mainly clear with temps in the low-60s and Southerly breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... beginning with partly cloudy skies, turning to cloudy skies then by late afternoon/early evening periods of rain commence.  Those rains will continue into Thursday and Friday and I'm throwing in Sunday as well.  Saturday's holding out for sunshine.

The Sunny Warmth Of Autumn Continues

Mornin'!  It's 53°  in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining on the island.  Breezes are nothing to note as it's completely still out there.  Humidity's up at 90% and everything outside is covered in dew and moisture.  We've got that marshy fragrance in the air as well.  We could see areas of patchy fog as some cloud cover could be part of the landscape this morning.  But, for the most part it'll be another sunny Fall day with temps in the mid-upper 60s and light  breezes out of the S-SW at 4-7mph.  Tonight... mostly clear skies with again areas of patch fog.  Temps will be in the low-50s with winds light and variable.  Tomorrow... the same as today.

Another Foggy Start And A Sunny Beautiful Day Ahead

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  We're fogged up as dense fog has masked the island once again.  Humidity's 95% as in the pre-dawn stillness and quietness you hear nothing but dripping moisture everywhere.  No breezes to note.  Ms Sun is up there somewhere as this morning's pea soup is holding her at bay until a bit later.  Expect this thick fog to continue this morning becoming sunny this afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 60s with W-SW breezes at 4-7mph.  Tonight... clear with temps back down to the low-50s and winds light and variable.  Tomorrow... a repeat of today.

Mornin'!  Happy Election Day!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 39°.  It's clear and windy (West 25-30mph) as Ms Sun's on her way in less than a half hour from now.  We're headed for a clear, blue-sky, brisk Fall day with mostly sunny skies, high of 57° and W-NW winds still stiff at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... mostly clear, low of 47° and Winds simmering down finally at 3-6mph out of the W-NW.  Tomorrow... mainly sunny with a high of 63° and S-SW breezes at 10-15mph.  The rest of the week looks pretty much the same... not as windy with plenty of sunshine and temps in the low-mid 60s.

Winds Are Whippin'

Webcam Shot - 5th and New York Avenue - North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill temps is 34° as the winds are out of the W-NW at 25-35mph + gusting.  November's making it all about the winds since its return yesterday.  There's a "Gale Warning" and "Wind Advisory" posted as I type.  Ms Sun is shining around the big cumulus clouds and they're moving toward the ocean at a mighty good clip.  Today's weather will be a mix of clouds and sun with gusty winds.  Temps will be a high of 49° with a windchill of upper 30s.  W-NW winds are staying checked in at least until Wednesday.  Today's winds will be what they are now... 25-35mph +gusting (occasionally over 50mph).  Tonight... clear and windy with temps in the low-40s and W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... gusty winds with partial cloud cover (much like today) and temps in the mid-upper 50s.

November's Here And Making Its Presence Known!

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  It's beginning to lighten up outside now that sunrise is an hour earlier and will be up any moment.  If you forgot to turn your clocks back an hour, you might want to start turning.  We're under partial cloud cover with that big Full Moon still coming through the dawn.  Not much in breezes to note... S-SW at 4-6mph.  Enjoy the 1st of November this morning because this lovely, colorful morning will be turning gray and dull beginning around 11am - 12noon.  After Ms Sun rises and paints this autumn, partly cloudy sky into a masterpiece, the cloud cover takes over as it'll become gray and dreary.  Frankly a crapola day is on tap with periods of rain (100% chance), heavy a times with a high of 60° and S-SW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... this fast moving rain event will gust on outta here but we'll still have a 20% chance of rain showers, W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting over 50mph and temps cold around 40°.  Be aware of high tides with this rainfall as there's probably going to be some tidal flooding coming off the Full Moon.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy with very, very gusty winds.  And, Election Day will have Ms Sun battling out those clouds with still blustery conditions.  Strap down.  November is coming in with a really big bang and bringing along with it that dreaded early Sunset.
