Last of April Mix of Sun and Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  It's another lovely Spring morn this 30th of April.  The seagulls are making their happiness known.  The sky is mostly clear with beautifully colored clouds sprinkled everywhere as Ms Sun's up and doing her best to welcome the day.  The breezes aren't here yet and I can hear the ocean's waves crashing from 6 blocks away which never ceases to amaze me.  It'll be a partly sunny - partly cloudy one today as the breezes commence a little later from the SE at 8-10mph and temps get into the the low 60s.  Things will switch up late this afternoon as the clouds will eventually win this one as a rain system (50% chance) is headed our way.  Most forecasts are saying rain by late evening (bedtime) as winds shift from the NE at 19-21mph. It looks like it'll rain throughout the overnight as we wake to showers and blustery winds tomorrow.  By tomorrow night this system should be all checked out as the weekend's still looking pretty darn nice (Sunday being the nicer of the 2 days) as well as having us a Full Moon. For now...we'll be seeing you next year April!

Pretty Nice Hump Day!

North Wildwood NJ - April 28th's Cumulus Cloud Show
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  We're currently under clear, starlit skies.  Ms Sun's waiting in the wings as she's due to rise in less than an hour.  It's looking like a pretty one today.  All forecasts are unanimous...clear, sunny, mild (temps upper 60s - maybe tapping 70s) with light breezes out of the NW-W at 5-10mph.  Tonight...clear (with some passing clouds), upper 50s, more of those light breezes out of the W-SW at 5-10mph. The weekend's looking good as Sunday's the warmer, sunnier of the two days.  Finally having some real Springtime down the shore as of late!

Tuesday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood.  It's partly cloudy and breezy with winds out of the N-NE at 15-20mph.  Looks like another day with a mix of clouds and sun only today the temps will be tapping 60°.  This afternoon...more clouds (big puffy ones..."cumulus") than sun with winds shifting to the S-SE at 14-16mph.  Tonight...cloudy and back down to 49°.

Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood.  The darkness is beginning to fade. The clouds not so much as they're hanging out waiting for Ms sun. At the horizon it appears clearer and brighter as all this thick cloud cover looks to be in the perfect place for a nice splash of sunrise colors.  Remains to be seen as I said the same thing a week ago and the clouds won out and turned everything dark and gray as it covered any remnants of sunshine.  Today looks like Ms Sun will win out with her rise and shine while painting everything in her path.  It should be mostly sunny and mild today as temps get up into the mid-upper 50s.  Winds are light now but will ramp up a bit from the NW at 14-18mph and even more so tonight from the W-NW at 17-28mph. Temps will drop back into the upper 40s tonight as clouds drift back over our island. Appears we'll have Ms Sun peeking in at least until Thursday. I had a wonderful weekend with a visit from our daughter and grandson (our son-in-law had another commitment).  The weather stepped up and provided us some nice outdoor time. It was "Audubon Day" yesterday and I never got to sit and blog and put up all my years of bird photos.  Maybe next year.  Happy Audubon Day...a day late!

Gray Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 46° in cloudy Wildwood.  Not sure what's happening but I thought we were supposed to wake up to sunshine.  It's overcast and gray and cold.  Has a wintry feel to it today.  The blog's a bit on the late side as the "Babe" is here for the weekend and blueberry pancakes took priority as they seem to be our grandson's favorite.  Hopefully we won't have to bundle him up too much when we take our walk in a little while.  It'll be overcast most of the day with a high of 54-55°.  Winds will be out of the W-SW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...chance of showers including the overnight.  Tomorrow...partly sunny and a tad warmer.

Blustery

Mornin'!  It's 40° in windy Wildwood.  It's a stunner this morning as Ms Sun's rising as the winds are pushing a huge dark mass of clouds right towards her.  Once she's up, that huge cloud cover is going to be lightened and perfectly painted with all kinds of sunrise colors.  I keep smiling as I look out my front windows.  It's cold out though. The NW winds are making their presence known at 27-33mph (staying like that all day).  There's a bite in the morning air as it feels a tad on the wintry side this morning. It's probably the Chill Factor!Geez, I wish it would just get it out of its system and Spring would settle down and begin the prep for Summer.  It seems like it's taking its good ol' time this year.  Anyway...it'll be an okay day once Ms Sun begins to warm things up and the temps rise into the mid-50s.  Breezes are here to stay at least until tonight when they simmer down (NW at 11-15mph). Sorry to report that the temps are dropping into the mid-upper 30s (no typo) tonight.  The weekend's looking "eh" with a little of this and a little of that.  Sun and upper 50s tomorrow day and showers with low 40s tomorrow night.  Sunday...waking up to showers as the sun will peek in by afternoon along with mid-50 temps. We've got the 70s thing happening this weekend to kick off the concert series on the island...  http://www.wildwoodsnj.com/calendar.cfm?Mode=Results&coe_id=1723&KEYWORD=&ANYALL=PHRASE&MonthYearCat=4_2015

Blustery Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood.  The sky is mostly clear as Ms Sun lies in wait ready to rise.  It should be a lovely sunrise too as there's just a sprinkle of clouds to add to the colorful beauty of the morning.  It's breezy making it feel chilly.  The upcoming 5-day forecast has changed from what I've been blogging.  First...it'll be breezy and cool one today.  Winds will be out of the W-NW at 25-35mph and will be teaming up with the clouds trying to cool down the island.  Temps will barely get into the mid-50s.  Tonight...I'm sorry to say temps may go down into the the upper 30s (no typo) with the winds staying checked in not helping matters. No rains predicted for today or tonight. Tomorrow...still gusty winds with lower than norm temps again (50s during the day and 30s at night). And this lovely sunny weekend that everyone's been forecasting seems to be limited to early in the day Saturday only. The rest of the weekend (late Saturday afternoon/evening and Sunday) looks cold, gray and possibly wet.  I'm keeping a close eye on that one as my sweet grandson is coming for the weekend and there's nothing like some sunny, Spring weather to push the little guy on the boards!

Hump "Earth" Day

Mornin'!  Happy Earth Day! http://www.wunderground.com/earth-day/earth-day-history/
It's 48° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's on her way as it's clear and still and a pleasant Spring morn down the Shore.  Get ready for a change as the clouds are waiting in the wings to check in. Rain will develop later this afternoon (90% chance) as the clouds and winds (S-SW at 19-25mph) enter the scene. Temps may just about tap 60° as it rains throughout the afternoon and evening.  Tonight...winds shift to the West at 10-15mph with temps back into the upper 40s as the clouds clear out around bedtime. Once we get through this afternoon and tonight, it'll be smooth sailing up until Tuesday night!

Mix of clouds and sun

Last night's sunset (4/20/15) over the marsh - Wildwood NJ
Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood.  We're under cloudy skies with some breaks in them as Ms Sun's waiting in the wings to rise in a half hour.  My bets are on "not happening" as the clouds will stop her grand entrance at the horizon this morning.  We'll definitely see the sun today though as the clouds will eventually give way.  It's a bit on the breezy side too with winds N-NW and will ramp up a bit at 20-27mph today.  Temps will be in the low 60s.  Tonight...clear, upper 50s again with winds calming down some from the W-SW at 11-12mph.  Tomorrow...back to wetness.  Then the next 5 days appear like sunny ones!

Miserable Monday

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  We're under some stormy weather.  It's pouring down torrential rains at the moment with winds out of the S-SW at 31-50mph (no typo).  An inch or two of rain is expected.  It's majorly crapola this morning.  Typical since Monday's are the worst day of the week for me for some reason.  It'll be gray and rainy all morning.  But, on a bright note, these rains are supposed to cease by the afternoon hours and we may just see enough break in the clouds to catch a glimpse of Ms Sun!  Temps may tap 70° as the winds simmer down later.  Now, as the temps drop tonight...I'm hearing forecasts of thunderstorms...so keep that in your back pocket.  Tuesday's looking like a keeper as the sun will come out tomorrow!

Half of this and Half of that

Mornin'!  It's 52° in windy Wildwood.  The winds came-a-wafting in early this morning from the E-NE at 25-34mph.  We have some cloud cover although Ms Sun's up and atom and giving it her best shot to brighten us up.  She'll eventually give way to mostly cloud cover though as a rain system is heading in our direction. We're going to have a mix of clouds and sun today with temps in the upper 50s.  By this evening...ominous, with showers and winds on the overnight (E 25-40mph) and temps in the low to mid 50s. Could see some flooding with the remnants of yesterday's New Moon. Get out there early if you want to enjoy some the seashore's loveliness. I did a bit of that myself yesterday as the beautiful weather provided us our first beach day of the year and enjoyed a little food for the soul!

Happy Bird Saturday

Morning'! It's 55° in Wildwood.  It's a lovely morning.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly in a clear, blue sky.  We've got the ol' fishy aromas out there too this bright sunny morn.
No breezes at the moment as it's very still and quiet except for the seagulls and birds as the island's alive with birds this time of year.  Lots and lots of birds on the island as they pass over us in their migration as it's sounding a bit like a Hitchcock movie out there. Did you know that Cape May (approximately 15 minutes south of us) has been a destination point for birds (and bird observers) for over two centuries? Well, we're sure the birds have been in on the secret for longer but bird observers - among them John Audubon, who set out to paint and describe all the birds of North America – have found Cape May, West Cape May, and Cape May Point to be a migratory Mecca for our fine feathered friends. Cape May County has a tremendous variety of habitats for migrating birds: salt marshes, swamp or wet woods, fresh water marshes and ponds, pine forest, saltwater, grasslands and open fields. http://www.capemay.com/activities/birdingincapemay.html#ixzz3XetZEzC6
It's going to a lovely day down the shore and could even possibly be the 1st beach day of the season!  The sun will be shining down all day as temps are supposed to tap 70° as breezes will be light and variable from the S-SE at 4-7mph.  Tonight...a few clouds in the mix as temps go to the mid-60s and breezes pick up at 10-15mph and shift from the S-SW.  Enjoy this perfectly lovely Spring day down the Shore!  Oh...by the way, it's the "new moon" and that's the same as a "full moon" as far as the tides go...higher and lower than usual tides!

Gray Friday - TGIF!

Summer's Coming - 65 days away!
Mornin'! It's 54° in Wildwood. We've got the ol' cloud cover with light rain coming down this morning.  It's looking like we're going to have periods of rain throughout the day as temps climb another 10° with a high of 64° in today's forecast. Ms Sun may make an appearance here and there as well. Winds are out of the SW at 15-17mph. Tonight...more showers possible and then clouds as the showers taper off.Temps back down into the low-mid 50s. Winds simmer down to light and variable. The weekend's looking like a mix of clouds and sun with mild temps and no rain until Sunday night. I'm not banking on it, but tomorrow could be a very slight possibility of a beach day or at least a beach visit for a couple hours!

Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit with a very light breeze.  I still have the furnace turned off and even though it's a little chilly in the house, it's nothing a sweatshirt or robe can't fix.  Bedroom windows are slightly opened too as a little sea air in the bedroom is a perfect accompaniment for a good night's sleep!  It'll be another nice one today albeit a tad cloudier than yesterday.  There's a mix of clouds and sun today as temps get into the low 60s and breezes wift (I mean waft) in from the West at 10-12mph.  Tonight...temps back down into the upper 40s with more clouds and even a slight chance of a late night shower as those "iffy" showers could continue throughout the overnight as we wake up to clouds and dampness while those winds shift from the S-SW at 14-16mph.
The weekend's looking like a "keeper" as sun and mild temps are on the menu (at least until Sunday night).

Perfect Spring Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  The sky is mostly clear as Ms Sun's due up in less than a half hour.  There's hardly a breeze.  Looks like it'll be nice down the shore today as we dry out from last night's downpour show and temps climb up to the mid-upper 60s while the sun shines down most of the day.  There will be some clouds (those wispy ones) in the mix too.  Breezes will be out of the North at 14-16mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps back down into the mid 40s as breezes shift a bit from the NE at 8-10mph.

100% chance of a Rainy Day

The Titantic - Sank today on April 14, 1912
Mornin'! It's 53° in Wildwood. We've got us some major cloud cover and today's bets are on "no lovely sunrise". Oh well, you can't expect to have one everyday or they wouldn't be special.  I can hear the powerful surf crashing though due to those insulating clouds.  And, that's living 6 blocks from the ocean. We're going to have periods of rain today as temps get up to the upper 50s.  Winds are currently out of the S-SW at 12-15mph and will shift by later this morning from the N-NE at 17-22mph. The rain will be ending on the overnight as temps drop into the mid-upper 40s.  Ms Sun is expected to peek in just a bit tomorrow.

Spring's in the sea air!

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood. We're under some cloud cover at the moment which may or may not make for a nice sunrise.  My bets are on a spectacular sunrise as Ms Sun lies in wait coloring the sky shades of pinks, purples and reds this early morn. It'll be mostly cloudy and mild for the most part today as the clouds are hanging out down the Shore.  Temps will climb up into the mid-upper 60s as we'll definitely see peeks of sun.  The breezes (or I should say "winds") will commence this morning at a nice clip from the S-SE at 19-22mph and by this evening shift and ramp up just bit from only the South at 25-29mph as the temps drop into the mid-upper 50s. Turned my furnace off this weekend, planted my garden seeds and baby herb plants, and my canvas awning people paid a visit and did some awning installation this weekend not to mention hubby doned his shorts and flipflops! Looks like Spring has certainly sprung!

Plenty Of Loveliness

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly in the clear, blue sky.  The birds are chirping.  The gulls are laughing.  Other than the birds it's quiet.  There are even no breezes.  It's a lovely start to the day.  It'll stay lovely too.  Temps should just about tap 60° with abundant sunshine and very light and variable breezes out of the SW at 3-5mph beginning later this morning.  Tonight...clear and temps dropping slightly into the low 50s with breezes out of the S-SW at 12-14mph.  A pleasant Spring day down the shore for sure!

Seasonable Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood.  The seagulls seem happy as they seem to be everywhere making their laughter known.  The winds have quieted down and I can hear the sounds of the ocean in the background due to the insulating cloud cover.  These morning clouds are expected to check out as Ms Sun's due up today with temps rising into the mid-upper 50s possibly tapping the 60s.  Breezes will eventually wift (I mean "waft") in later from the NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...clear as temps head down into the low 50s and breezes remain out of the NW at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow...another sunny one with cooler

Repeat of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with warmer temperatures

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  Here we go again...clouds, mist, wetness, drips and a little fog thrown in. Not much wind this morning... yet.  And it looks like the temperature will be the star attraction today as we may just see the thermometer go up 30° to 70°! Don't get too excited though as there's more rain and even thunderstorms in the mix today... as another gray and breezy one is on tap.  It'll start out with clouds and mist followed by scattered showers and by the late afternoon as the warm front moves in... bringing those thunderstorms.  Most forecasts are saying mid-high 60s down the shore but there are some saying possibly tapping 70° with possible peeks of sunshine. Remains to be seen. Breezes are nothing now, but will begin later this morning from the South at 15-25mph.  Tonight...more thunderstorms (80% chance) and then clouds on the overnight as winds shift a bit from the W-SW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow...cooler with intervals of sunshine. Sunday...sunny with weekend temps of just about 60°.

Drearies Continue

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  The clouds are still checked in although it's not raining at the moment.  The island's heavy with dampness from all the wetness we've been receiving this week.  That windy dampness will continue today as there's a slight chance of showers as temps climb up to the upper 40s.  Winds are still out there making it feel cold and raw and will continue throughout the day from the NE at 10-20mph.  This evening ... back into the low 40s with more rain due in as the winds aren't going anywhere anytime soon.  Tomorrow ...the temps are heading back into the 60s but this crapola damp, dreary and windy weather continues through all of Friday night.  Bad week.  Good weekend though.  Gotta take the good with the bad.

April Showers...

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  It's crapola out there this morning.  I'm talking major winds (N-NE at 26-36mph) off the ocean with rain pouring down.  My first thoughts when snuggled in bed after the alarm went off was "Is that rain pounding on the roof"?  Yes... it's rain and wind.  It'll be nasty today with showers and gusty winds and high in the upper 40s (no typo).  Tonight...more showers and winds and low 40s.  Tomorrow... looks like more of the same.  And, Friday... even more of the same. We're getting March winds and April showers together this week.  Shame if you were spending your Easter break at the Jersey Shore. 73 days until Summer!

Spring?

Mornin'!  It's 51° under cloudy skies with a bit of a breeze going on.  Not sure if we'll see Ms Sun today although one forecast mentioned she'll be peeking out here and there.  All other forecasts are calling for a gray and rainy day as showers are due in today and tonight off and on (60% chance).  Temps will get up into the upper 60s.  Breezes will be out of the SW at 15-18mph and shifting tonight from the NE at 20-25mph as temps go down into the upper 40s.  Oh... and those 40s along with those rain showers seem to be checked in all week right up till the weekend.  Maybe Spring hasn't sprung afterall.

Spring's Here!

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  Enjoy this beautiful day about to unfold, especially with the chance of rain beginning tomorrow and lasting the entire week!  We're keeping the focus on today as it'll be a Spring stunner.  Ms Sun will be shining down on a low-mid 60° kind-a-day.  It looks like some clouds will be in the mix but for the most part will be a sunny day.  Breezes are nothing at the moment but will commence later out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight...mostly clear and back into the 50s as it stays breezy but on the overnight...20% chance of rain.

Mornin'!  Happy Easter!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun is up and shining brightly in a clear, blue sky.  The birds are chirping.  The breezes have stopped (for the moment).  The bulbs have all peeked through the garden.  It's a perfect Easter Sunday morning.  It'll be pleasant today as the sun pours down and temps just about tap 60°.  Winds will begin to ramp up (I think March left some its winds behind) later from the SW at 17-19mph.  Tonight... clear with temps dropping down into the mid-50s with winds out of the S-SW at 19-26mph. Season Opener - Easter Weekend

Photo taken by Doug Ford, Director of Bldgs,Parks,Grounds
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  The sky is clearing and brightening as Ms Sun's winning the battle with the clouds.  It's windy.  The winds are coming over the island from the NW at 28-39mph w/40+mph gusts as temps will rise just a bit to the upper 50s and Ms Sun shines down most of the day. Wildwood celebrates Easter Weekend with a visit from the Easter Bunny.  Not only that, Arcades are open and Piers with rides open as it's the official kick-off of the "season-opener" here down the Shore. Check it out...  http://www.gwcoc.com/events.php
Tonight...clear with temps back down into the low 40s as those pesky winds simmer down from the W at 10-15mph.  It's a Full Moon today so it'll be bright tonight!

Full Moon - Lunar Eclipse

Tomorrow's (Saturday's) Full Moon will be eclipsed.  We may have a shot at seeing it if it's not too cloudy. The moon will first begin passing through the outermost portion of the Earth's shadow (what's known as the penumbral stage) at 5:01 a.m. EDT, and viewers will notice a subtle dimming. It is when the Moon gets to the dark, inner (umbral) shadow that stargazers will see a distinctive darkness spread across the moon around 6:15 a.m. EDT.
This total eclipse will be known for its brevity, as the blood moon portion will last a little less than five minutes, making this the shortest total eclipse this century, Edelman said. From 7:58 a.m. EDT to 8:02 a.m. EDT is when those who crave celestial sightings will want to look to the sky to view the red moon.
Enjoy!

Good Friday / Passover

Hereford Lighthouse
Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood.  We're under partly cloudy skies.  There are some openings in the clouds and Ms Sun is giving all she's got to shine on down and just as I'm about to finish today's blog, she's shining over the island brightly! Don't get too excited as the clouds will eventually win this morning's battle in the sky. 100% chance of rain showers are due up for today so the sun doesn't have much chance of brightening things much longer. It's going to be warmish (compared to the rest of this past year) as temps are climbing up into the mid-upper 60s. These temps added to the rain equals some unsettled weather as thunder's in the mix while the rain comes down beginning some time this morning. For now winds have simmered down from last night's intensity but it'll be a tad breezy today (S-SW at 10-20mph w/gusting during the heavy rains). Tonight...low 50s with 60% chance of showers and winds ramped up again (20-30mph). Ms Sun is checking in for Easter Weekend beginning late tomorrow morning!  Happy Passover at sundown tonight!

Holy Thursday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood.  We're under starlit skies and light breezes.  The horizon's lightening as birds are chirping everywhere wakening the neighborhood.  It's the first morning the birds were so loud and immediately noticeable when I stepped onto the back porch.  It'll be a breezy one (Southerly 20-30mph w/gusting) today as we'll have a mix of clouds and mostly sun with temps up in the mid-upper 50s perhaps tapping 60°. Tonight...clouds take over as there's a 30% chance of showers after midnight with those breezes sticking around.  Looks like gray and rainy tomorrow but it's always dark and dreary on Good Friday.  The weekend's looking good though.

April Hump Day!

Mornin'!  Welcome April!  She's usually the "wet" month with all the showers she brings. March somewhat did back off on its usual winds this year so I guess April's upcoming rainy season truly remains to be seen.  So, it's snowing out there and we've got almost a slushy inch from all the heavy snowfall from the middle of the night! Just kidding...April fools!  It's 36° under clear, starry skies in Wildwood. The horizon's brightening as I type and it should be a spectacular sunrise this morning.  It's a tad breezy at the moment with winds out of the N-NW at 19-23mph.  They'll simmer down by this afternoon (NW at 12-13mph).  Ms Sun will be provide plentiful sunshine all day as temps tap the low 50s. I noticed all my spring bulbs have broken through the garden soil.  Spring's certainly in the air.  Tonight...Mr Moonlight will be shining brightly (Full Moon's this Saturday)as temps drop down into the upper 30s/low 40s. Overall...looking pretty nice for April's kickoff!  81 days until Summer and that's no April Fools joke!
