Happy Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday and Au Revoir February!

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Mardi Gras! We're dry out there, under cloud cover with very light breezes off the ocean at 3-4mph.  Looks like we're going to have another mild day with temps just barely tapping the 50° mark.  We're supposed to have a mix of sunshine with partly cloudy skies then showers in the afternoon (chance of rain 40%).  Then, later more rain likely (90% chance) with a possibility of a thunderstorm thrown in the mix tonight.  Temps back down into the upper 40s with Southerly breezes at 10-20mph.  Expect some rain tomorrow too.  February was kind to us this year and we're all very appreciative.  Until this time next year...Au Revoir February!

50-50 Monday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  No breezes to note as the sky is clear and starlit.  No Moon (yesterday was the New Moon...forgot to mention that).  I thought the tide was a bit on the high side and forgot all about the New Moon as it draws in the higher tides much like the Full Moon.  It'll be a fairly nice day as the lightly cloud covered blue sky will kick off the week as it stays mostly clear throughout the morning and early afternoon.  Increasing clouds are expected this afternoon.  Temps will tap 50° as breezes are out of the South at 10-20mph.  It looks the island will have cloud cover and be overcast by late this afternoon with showers due in tonight (closer to midnight).  Tonight's temps will be back down into the mid-upper 40s with Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  It looks pretty much a gray, cloudy (possibly rainy) week with sunshine on tap for Thursday and clouds/rain for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  Enjoy this one!

Abundant Sunshine Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  The storms have passed through (last night) and they brought back the cold, brisk, weather.  It's breezy (N-NW 10-15mph) with a little chill factor...35°!  Ms Sun's about to cross the horizon as abundant sunshine is on tap for today as clouds are outta here.  Breezes are staying checked in from the N-NW and will ramp up a bit at 20-25mph.  Temps will make it into the low 40s.  Tonight...clear with still seasonable temps...upper 30s with W-SW breezes at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow...mix of clouds and sun but back up into the 50s!

50/50 Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's bright and sunny with no breezes to note.  It'll stay mostly sunny for awhile but the clouds will drift in by mid-day.  Rain's are not due up until this evening now so the Plungers and Spectators will be good to go at 11a.m.  That is if you call standing on a cold beach (53°) in your bathing suit and running for the 41° ocean "good"!  Anyway...it's still nice down the shore and it'll be a fairly okay early part of the day.  The winds will pick up out of the S-SE first at 10-15mph; then 19-22mph and by tonight switch from the N-NW at 25-35mph with temps dropping into the low-mid 40s as thunderstorms and wild weather with rain showers are on tap beginning around dinner time.  Rain due all night but Ms Sun should be ready for her rise and shine tomorrow morning.  The cold "seasonable" air will be back too (upper 30s/low 40s).

Sunshine this last Friday of February!

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's due up in about 15 minutes and it's clear and perfect for her grand entrance.  Not much in the line of breezes.  It'll be mostly sunny today with temps in the mid-upper 50s and Southerly breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight...some clouds roll in as it'll be partly cloudy with temps in upper 40s / low 50s and breezes still out of the South at 18-21mph.  Tomorrow...begins with clouds with temps in the low-mid 50s and rains checking in by the afternoon.  It should be okay at 11a.m. for the plungers and spectators.  Sunday will be sunny though and much cooler and more seasonable as this past week has been just lovely and far from seasonable!

Cloudy Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  We have cloudy conditions with no breezes to note.  The sounds of the surf are loud and clear due to the clouds insulating the island.  It feels cold but somehow mild.  It'll be a cloudy day with peeks of Ms Sun possible.  A couple forecasts I've checked said no sunshine at all today...clouds right through this evening. Temps will climb up into the low 50s with breezes commencing out of the S-SW at 5-8mph.  Tonight...looks like the clouds will hit the ground surface as Fog's rolling in while temps drop into the mid-40s with breezes out of the S-SW at 12-14mph.  Tomorrow begins with heavy fog as Ms Sun intends to break through it and shine most of the day.  Saturday still looks like rain but not beginning until the afternoon as temps will be in the 50s helping those plungers persevere while standing on the beach in their bikini and bathing suit clad bodies heading for the drink.

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and dark with starry skies.  We'll start out sunny and lovely but expect some clouds to roll in as it'll be mostly cloudy today with temps in the mid-upper 40s and breezes out of the E-SE at 9-13mph. (Yesterday the temps got up to an amazing 61° along the coast!) Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the low 40s and breezes out of the S-SE at 11-13mph.  The clouds appear to be checking out for tomorrow as Ms Sun's expected to return for Hump Day.  We have another "Plunge" this coming weekend and by the looks of things, the spectators, as well as the plungers will be getting wet. So far...rain on tap for Saturday.

Happy President's Day!

Mornin'!  Happy President's Day!  Our first president George Washington's birthday is actually on the February 22nd.  Many think that since the date falls between Lincoln's birthday (12th) and Washington's (22nd) it's celebrated the 3rd Monday in February for both of them. This long weekend is celebrated in honor of President Washington.  All I know is that it's a good time to buy a new mattress and I'm off from work!  It's 43° in Wildwood, NJ.  It's clear and still (no breezes to note) as Ms Sun's heading over our horizon in less than a half hour. Check out the North Wildwood Webcam under my Personal Favs and click on "Matador" to see her rise and shine! The sky is already beginning to brighten and display beautiful colors. It's been a lovely weather weekend this President's Day Weekend 2017 down the Shore and will continue to do so today.  It'll be sunny today with temps in the low-mid 50s (yesterday...Wildwood got up to the low 60s with warm stillness) and breezes wifting (wafting) over us from the North at 10-12mph.  Tonight...clear and back into the low 40s with breezes out of the N-NE at 12-17mph.  Tomorrow...more clouds in the mix as the temps stay in the 40s.

First Weekend for Sam's

Mornin'!  It's 30° in Wildwood NJ.  It's going to be perfect weather for Sam's Pizza re-opening! We've got a crisp, clear morn with stars and breezes (N-NW 10-15mph).  Baby it's cold outside...wind chill 22°!  Nice lovely winter's day on tap with Ms Sun pouring down and temps in the low 40s with breezes out of the W-NW 15-20mph carrying the aroma of delicious pizza being baked on the boardwalk (I must add that Mack's pizza in my opinion is a tad more delicious). Tonight...clear sky with breezes out of the SW at 7-8mph with temps in the upper 30s/low 40s.  The weekend's still looking 5-star with plentiful sunshine and temps in the low-mid 50s (no typo)!  I must mention that one of my resources did post that a passing shower late Saturday night is a possibility.  But, we're heading into a nice stretch of a taste of Spring!

Gale Warnings Posted

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and windy... W-NW 25-35mph.  The winds are whispering and moaning over the island this early morn.  It'll be another preview of the March winds today with Ms Sun shining down through some cloud cover and with cold, stiff winds along our coast from the NW.  Those Gale Warnings posted mean that operating a Vessel in these gale conditions requires experience with only properly equipped vessels and it's highly recommended only experienced mariners sail and to seek safe harbor to the onset of these gale conditions.  It looks like the warning will be in effect until this evening.  For those of us landlubbers...bad hair day.  It'll be a high of 38° with mostly sunny skies.  Tonight...clear, NW winds 25-35mph w/gusting and temps about where they are now (low-mid 30s). Tomorrow...starts out windy but simmers down by mid-morning as Ms Sun remains with us.  As for the weekend...still looking A-OK...sunny and in the 50s with not much in the line of breezes!

Wet Hump

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ. Happy Hump Day!  Had a lovely Valentine's Day and so blessed to have the same loving man by my side for half a century as we're lifelong, childhood sweethearts.  We celebrated by having a lovely, delicious dinner at the Lobster House in Cape May.  No doubt it's if not the best then one of the best seafood restaurants in these parts. Today's weather...it's raining lightly with no breezes to note.  It'll be raining most of the morning and by late this afternoon the sky will begin to clear.  Temps won't be any higher than the low 40s with breezes out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Winds will pick up by this early evening from the West at 15-20mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps dropping into the low-mid 30s as major winds check in...W-NW at 25-30mph with gusting up to 40mph. Tomorrow...mostly sunny with winds wreaking havoc again.  I'm telling ya...March is peeking in and showing its ugly, windy face.  For those of you that follow my blog know that March is my least favorite of all the months of the year due to the very annoying blustery, cold, relentless, whipping winds.  And, I truly think she's giving us a sneak preview.  Pack an umbrella today.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  Those milky clouds are back as the bright moon and stars are in a haze this early morning.  Ms Sun's due up in less than an hour (6:51a.m.).  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun to start then become mostly cloudy and in the mid 40s.  Breezes (the big winds have checked out) will be out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with some clearing here and there and temps in the upper 30s / low 40s with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow looks like the possibility of rain and Thursday...ugh...the winds are back!

High Wind Warning Monday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear (moonlit and starlit) with winds sounding like high-speed trains roaring outside my front door from the NW at 30-40mph w/gusting.  There's a "high wind warning" posted until 6p.m.  That means  there's a great potential for extreme high winds throughout the day into this evening.  Impacts...damaging winds can blow down trees and power lines.  Isolated power outages should be expected.  Travel especially for high profile vehicles could be difficult. 40-50mph gusts can lead to property damage. Precautionary/preparedness should be taken.  I'm just reporting what's posted.  What wasn't posted is that it'll be a major bad-hair day. And, that this is a preview of March on the island. Today's temps should hover around 40° as Ms Sun's checking in at least until Wednesday. I'm guessing quite a chill factor too as sun or no sun...those wicked winds go right through you. If in need of a good facial...head to the beach for some major sloughing of your exposed skin with the biting sand pellets. Tonight... windy (NW 15-25mph) but not as intense as during the day with clear skies and temps in the low 30s.  The winds will be checking in again on Thursday.

"High Wind Watch Sunday"

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  From my back porch we've got darkness with cloud cover, breezes (Easterly 13-15mph), the aroma of the sea and the sound of the waves crashing.  It's all good. In fact it's great to be off from work and enjoy this lovely morning.  It'll be crapola weather today though.  There's rain in the forecast....90% chance.  And, unfortunately with winds.  It'll be mild as temperatures go...high of 48° but add to that the rains and winds and you got a homemade cream of potato soup Sunday.  Actually it was Saturday too as hubby and I put together a yummy cream of potato soup (with bacon) yesterday afternoon.  Tonight... clouds with a 20% chance of rain showers, still in the mid 40s and major non-stop winds W-NW 27-37 sustained with 50-60mph gusts. Key word..."preparedness".  Tomorrow...Ms Sun makes her appearance but with those very pesky winds not going anywhere!

Mostly Gray but Mild Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast and cloudy with a light breeze out of the North at 5-8mph.  For the most part it'll be cloudy and feeling a bit raw and chilly yet in the low 50s.  No rain in today's forecast although there's a 20% chance of rain showers tonight.  One forecast mention Ms Sun taking a peek through later this afternoon.  I'm thinking not.  I'm making a pot of Saturday soup anyway to take away the chill (cream of potato) ...plus we'll have it for tomorrow's rainy/raw day (80% chance).  So, today...mostly cloudy and gray.  Temps in the low 50s and breezes out of the West at 9-14mph.  Tonight...cloudy with rain on the overnight into tomorrow.  Temps back down into the low 40s and breezes out of the SW 6-8mph.  Missed the Full Moon rise last night due to cloud cover and if there's any Full Moon left over we probably will miss it tonight too.

Full Snow Moon or Hunger Moon Friday

Mornin'!  It's 26° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quite an about face from Wednesday's 51° start to the day.  It feels brutal outside as the winds haven't checked out yet and they're out of the NW at 15-25mph and creating a 14° chill factor.  Who needs this crap?  The teasing is the worst...just give me winter or spring...not both!  I must report we got no snow on the island yesterday.  That storm brought major coastal winds and rains and some tidal flooding but for the most part we got missed on that storm system.  Thankfully.  This early morn we've got clouds (big cumulous ones) that are moving quickly out toward the ocean and sporadically covering the stars and brightly lit sky and full moon.  Looks like a Halloween sky with that moon. I'm always up for a Halloween sky whether it's wintry outside or not.  It's going to be cold today with temps in the low-mid 30s with clouds thrown in as well as  plenty of sunshine.  Winds (unfortunately will stick around) will be out of the W-NW at 15-25mph creating a chill factor.  Tonight...clear and moonlit with temps in the mid 30s and winds switching up from the W-SW at 15-25mph.  The weekend...eh...50/50.  Tomorrow looks like mild temps are back (low-mid 50s) with considerable cloudiness and Sunday...rain but still in the 50s.

Advisories Posted

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining hard.  It's thundering and lightning.  Even though we're cloud covered, the sky looks red.  We all know what "red sky in the morning" means. The heavens are bowling big time this early morn. There's stiff breezes out of the SE at 15-20mph but that's nothing compared to what's coming in the line of Winds.  We've got some weather happening at the moment.  First off...advisories posted. Winter Weather Advisory,  Hazardous Weather Advisory, Coastal Flood Advisory, Wind Advisory are all posted this morning.  I realize we're in the midst of another major storm coming up the eastern seaboard which has significant amounts of snow being dumped West and North of us but somehow the immediate coastline doesn't look like we'll have any snow accumulation from this bad boy like everyone else. Remains to be seen though. At the moment our island weather is going through a transition (wind shift, clouds colliding, temperature drop etc) causing these thunderstorms and rains and temperature drop as I type.  We're expected to have heavy rains throughout the day into the early afternoon with sustained winds out of the N-NW at 25-40 +gusting.  By this afternoon we should see the rains begin to taper off as temps drop to the low 30s in the early evening.  With the temps down and clouds above we could see a dusting to 1" of snow later as the storm wraps up due to the cold snap and frigid temps.  Tonight... clouds begin to head away from the coast but those major, annoying, gusty winds (NW 29-34mph) aren't going anywhere.  With all that said...tomorrow's Full Moon isn't helping our island with today's heavy rains as coastal flooding and high tide levels are being enhanced by the man in the moon.  Get the Wellies out!  Keep telling yourself that there's no global warming.

Spring-like Weather

Mornin'!  It's an unbelievable 51° in Wildwood NJ this 8th of February.  Talk about unseasonable temperatures!  The minute you step outside the crazy temp hits you.  There's light breezes (S-SW 5-8mph) and cloud cover.  The crashing ocean waves are loud and clear in the dark, quietness of the early morn.  I can understand hearing the surf if I lived on Ocean Drive but I live 6+ blocks away from the ocean (on the bay side).  I say "+" as the beach at my street is 2-3 blocks deep (in Wildwood) so I'm actually 8+ blocks away from the surf.  Ok...let's get on with today's weather.   It's mild and cloudy with some clear sky in the mix (I can see stars here and there).  We may see morning showers but those clouds should give way to sunshine by late morning / early afternoon. It'll be a very mild winter's day with temps just about tapping 60°. Winds will be out of the W-NW at 10-18mph. Later this afternoon ...partly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain with possible thunderstorms as the weather starts a little turmoil and turnaround as the mild and cold temps compete.  Winter's heading right back over the island tonight as temps drop down into the 30s and winds wift (waft) in switching from the NW at 10-20mph bringing not just the cold, wintry temps but 100% chance of moisture. Winds will continue throughout the night (20-30mph) as rain plus snow is on the forecast and will continue through tomorrow.  It's looking like we could see a coating along the coast as so far all forecasts are saying no accumulation (just a dusting) for us!

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and a bit breezy (wind's off the ocean - Southerly at 9-13mph).  It'll be a mix of weather today as isolated showers are on the forecast this morning.  It'll be mostly cloudy with possible peeks of sunshine this afternoon as temps climb up and tap 50°.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 40s and winds out of the S-SW 15-25mph. A stray shower and/or a thunderstorm could happen on the overnight.

Sunny Monday; Not so much Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's dark with a starlit and moonlit (full moon's this Friday) sky.  No breezes to note.  It'll be mostly clear and sunny with temps in the mid-upper 40s today with sun pouring down and breezes out of the W-NW switching from the South by this afternoon at 8-10mph.  Enjoy Ms Sun as we may not see her again until Friday.  I know.
Tonight...clear sky gives way to cloud cover as temps go back into the upper 30s/low 40s with Southerly breezes kicked up at 17-27mph.  There's a slight chance of rain showers.  There's a 50% chance that we'll wake to rain showers tomorrow morning. But, get this...tomorrow and Wednesday...temps in the 50s!

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  Yesterday's soup was delicious by the way! We're under some very cool cloud cover with hardly a breeze (E-SE 4-6mph).  It's calm and quiet.  It'll be a decent winter's day with temps in the mid-upper 40s and some sun pouring down with a mix of clouds and breezes out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight...low 40s, clear and westerly breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...much of the same.

Today's Soup...Mushroom/Onion Beef Barley

Summer Saturday Morning - Wildwood Crest NJ
Mornin'!  It's 24° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  It's windy...NW at 25-30mph and the chill factor's (15°)  a killer when you step outside (especially in PJs and slippers).  Slept in a bit today and it was thrilling to wake to Ms Sun trying to peek through those appreciated room-darkening window panels.  We haven't had morning sun in quite awhile.  It's still very wintry and making me long for one of those sunny summer Saturday mornings.  You know...the kind of morning that calls you to a beach day.  Anyway...enough of that for now...it's wintry and will be today (another homemade soup Saturday).
Even though Ms Sun is going to be shining down, temps won't get past the mid 30s and the winds out of the W-NW at 10-20mph...more chill factor I'm afraid. Tonight...clouds filter in over the island as temps hover around the low 30s with Southwest winds coming in at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow more of the same but with mid 40° temps.

First Friday in February - Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It's crisp out there!  No breezes to note (guess it could be a lot crisper).  There's milky cloud cover as I can see some stars in the early morning sky but only faintly and only here and there.  It appears as though it'll be one of those "milky cloud covered sky" kind of days as we've seen a lot of the last few weeks.  We haven't been getting much in the line of bright blue sky, cloudless sunny days.  But I'm not complaining.  I'd rather have this than rain or snow coming down.  So, with all that said...today's weather will be more of the same...milky clouds with Ms Sun peeking out off and on but mostly later this afternoon.  Temps should be in the mid-upper 30s with winds out of the NW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...mostly clear skies with winds out of the NW at 20-26mph and temps in the upper 20s.  The weekend now looks like Ms Sun will be making her presence known for both days as Saturday looks less sunnier and colder in the mid-upper 30s and Sunday...sunny and in the mid-upper 40s.  Both days have brisk breezes wifting (I mean "wafting") over the island.

Groundhog Day! A Mix of Clouds and Sun on Tap

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a repeat of yesterday morning at this time...cloud covered with no breezes to note on the island.  There's one difference from yesterday morning and that's the aroma.  That briny fragrance of the sea or in my case the marshes (I live more on the west side of the island along the harbor /marshland side) is strong and hits the olfactory sensory neurons (looked that one up) the minute you enter the porch this dark, early morn. It's what I love most living here.  Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning...6 more weeks of winter.  With that said...it'll be a partly sunny day today with winds perking up and heading in our direction from the W-NW at 18-25mph.  Temps will rise a bit and stay around the mid-upper 40s.  Tonight...clear with temps back down into the the upper 30s and breezes even stronger from the W-NW at 26-31mph.  At this point, the weekend's looking okay with Saturday being the sunnier of the 2 days.  So far...no moisture in the weekend forecast!

Gray Hump Day this First day of February

February 2010 - "Snowmageddon"
Mornin'!  It's 39° this cloudy and overcast morning.  Welcome February!  February always gives me the eyebrow up kind of skepticism as this month certainly can go both ways as far as Winter goes.  January was kind to us this year but February...eh...could make or break us (like February 2010 when we were without electric for 6 days thanks to "Snowmageddon" which took us way down). A couple good things happened from that historic storm...it pushed us to book our first of many trips to Key West after digging out.  I now look at it as the month that wraps up Winter with my fingers crossed. It's almost over. So welcome February as Spring is just around the corner!  It'll be yet another mostly gray day down the shore with no breezes to note at the moment but they'll wift (waft) in later from the W-SW at 14-18mph.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s.  Tonight...more clouds with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s and breezes out of the West at 12-15mph.  Ms Sun checks back in tomorrow.
