See You In September!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ. September's checking out with a bang! See ya next year and don't let the wet door hit you in the ass! We've got advisory postings today..."hazardous weather advisory", "flash flood watch advisory", "coastal flood advisory", "high rip current risk advisory". Today's "new moon" (or "black moon" which is two new moons in one month) will be creating 1-2 feet higher than usual tides and add to that all this rain that has no where to drain so we're talking awareness of high tide times. Take heed of those flood sirens and move your vehicle to higher ground before it's too late and try not to drive through flood water.  In North Wildwood...Surf Avenue is about as high as you can get and in Wildwood...New Jersey Avenue near the Municipal Building is high ground.  Getting off and on the island could be tricky during high tides as North Wildwood is usually the less flooded and most traversed during flooding.  Ok...enough of the tides and flooding...the joys of island living huh?  It'll be another rainy, windy day today with steady rain this morning and showers this afternoon.  We just might see a peek or two of Ms Sun.  But, I'm not betting on that.  Temps will be in the low 70s.  Winds will be out of the NE at 20-30mph with gusting as high as 40+ mph.  Tonight...scattered showers/thunderstorms with temps in the upper 60s and winds out of the NE at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow...more rain and higher than usual tides with less windy conditions.  Sunday...looking partly sunny!
High tides:8:15a.m. and 8:28p.m.
Low tide:2:05p.m.
Ocean temp:73°
Sunset:6:45p.m.
Rip Current: Red zone (very hazardous surf conditions)
Italian Fest is cancelled by the way and the Mid-Atlantic Police and Fire Survivors weekend looks to be still planned as scheduled.

Coastal Flood Advisory Posted

Mornin'!  It's 67° in windy Wildwood NJ.  We've got some major winds off the ocean from the East at 30-35mph along with rain coming down making for a nasty morning out there!  In fact, at the moment there's some thunder and lightening happening. Prepare for a nasty day with those major stiff winds and rain (thunderstorms too) staying checked in throughout today, tonight and tomorrow.  Temps will be in the low 70s and by tonight be in the mid 60s.  Also keep in mind with this rain system hanging out over the island for the next couple days we're under a "Coastal Flood Advisory" and that's in addition to tomorrow's "new" moon (which is just as effective as a "full" moon) which will be adding inches of sea water to the higher tides.  Avoid driving through any corrosive flood waters.
High tides: 7:34a.m. and 7:48p.m.
Low tide:1:22p.m.
Ocean temp:73°
Sunset:6:46p.m.
Rips Currents: High Risk - Red Zone (dangerous surf conditions...no one should be entering the surf).

Hump day Mix

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and still (no breezes to note).  It's clear and starlit (no clouds to note). It's lovely this early morn.  But, in the words of Edwina from Raising Arizona..."Everything's changed" will be the focus by tonight.  It'll be a mostly sunny morning with periods of clouds filtering in as a chance thunderstorms and/or rain (30% chance) will develop later this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low 70s with breezes out of the E-NE at 16-19mph.  Tonight...temps in the mid-upper 60s with winds out of the East at 28-32mph and 80% chance of rain. Looking like some sort of scattered rain (misty breezes, drizzles, light showers) intermediately tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Low tide:12:36p.m.

Rainy Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and still with light rain coming down and no breezes to note.  It's actually a very nice morning.  The last of the weekenders have left and all the homes surrounding us are once again quiet and empty.  We're really getting into that 8 month stretch of that ghost-town-like feel now.  It'll be a rainy day today with considerable cloudiness and rain showers off and on all throughout the day.  Temps will stay around where they are now...mid-upper 60s.  Breezes will out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...North at 5-10mph with periods of showers and temps in the low 60's.  Tomorrow...breezier and warmer with more rain in the forecast.

Brilliant Monday

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with Ms Sun in the wings ready to rise and shine.  No breezes to note.  It's on the chilly side but nice without any breezes or winds.  They are coming though.  It'll be the last of the nice days for awhile as September's going out with a bang.  Enjoy today's brilliant blue seashore skies as the rains are coming tonight and sticking around all week.  It'll be sunny today with temps in the low 70s with breezes commencing later this morning from the S-SE at 5-8mph.  They'll begin to ramp up by this afternoon from the S-SE at 15-20mph.  And, by tonight...shift from the S-SW at 18-25mph.  These S-SW winds are bringing the rains (90% chance).  Temps will drop down a bit to the mid-upper 60s.  Every forecast I've checked reports rain from tonight until Friday night.  They were reporting that next weekend would be a washout too, but now that's changed as it's now looking sunny for October's kickoff.  Just saying.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It hasn't been 55° since May 23rd.  Chill in the air this morning...talk about feeling like Autumn.  First morning that I've eyed up the lovely tropical porch plants and thought..."ugh...they've all got to come in the house soon".  The winds (N-NE at 13-15mph) are rustling the crispy edged tree leaves out front and making their noisy presence known in this fall-like breezy morn. Ms Sun's about to rise and shine thankfully as she never once reared her warm face yesterday leaving us with thick, misty cloud cover all day and night.  Not today though as it'll be a perfect autumn Sunday today with plenty of sunshine. Breezes will be out of the North at 8-10mph as temps tap 70°.  Tonight...clear and back down into the upper 50s with breezes out of the S-SE at 8-10mph. Looks like rain is headed our way tomorrow night and again Wednesday night and again Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Quite a s%&@ show for weather this week.

Autumn Weekend down the Shore

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up but the cloud cover is making her work to try and shine through this morning.  In fact, it looks like it'll be a very cloudy day today.  The sun will have peeks on through but the clouds will be a big part of the weather mix no doubt.  The winds are a factor too as it's very breezy at the moment (N-NE at 15-18mph) as these bad hair day breezes will stay checked in right through this evening (N-NE at 18-25mph).  Temps today will just about stay where they are now (tapping the 70s) and tonight....barely tapping the 60s.  Tomorrow...less windy, less cloudy with a high of 70°!  Great weekend for all those Fests I mentioned yesterday!

A Big Season Send Off Weekend All Over The Island!

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with no breezes at the moment.  Ms Sun's due to rise in less than an hour but not sure if we'll see her with these morning clouds.  It'll be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies along with a mix of clouds.  Breezes will wift (waft) over us just a bit later out of the W-NW at 5-10mph as temps barely tap 80°.  Tonight...upper 60s with clear skies and SW breezes at 10-12mph.  The weekend's looking like a keeper with Fall-like conditions...temps tapping 70°, breezy (NE at 15-25mph) and mostly sunny (light sweater weather perhaps).  This island's going to be hopping with all the end of the season ritual festivals...Irish Fest, Classic Car Fest, Morey's October Fest (1st annual) and Wildwood Crest's Seafarers Fest!  Bring it!

Happy First Day of Autumn!

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  Welcome Autumn!  Today is the Autumn Equinox as Fall has officially begun.  The sky is once again clear with stars and leftover remnants of last week's full moon. The gray, overcast sky and dampness is finally out of here! There's a NE breeze at 10-14mph.  Ms Sun will be crossing the horizon in less than an hour.  Last night's heavy cloud cover provided yet another gorgeous sunset as the Fall is the time of year for the most spectacular sunsets especially down the shore. It'll be mostly sunny today with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the E-NE at 10-20mph.  Tonight...clear and mild with temps in the low 70s and E-NE breeze at 8-12mph.  The weekend's looking very nice albeit Fall-like with sunshine and temps barely tapping 70°.

Con Te PartirĂ² Summer

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  Con Te PartirĂ² (Time To Say Goodbye...I can hear Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman singing as I hit the keys) on this last day of summer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWQbuJ24Wzg
We've got light breezes out of the E-NE at 8-12mph.  We've got cloud cover as there's not a star in the sky.  The horizon's brightening with shades of pinks, purples and some reds in those spectacular sunrise clouds.  Looks like an okay day albeit cloudy with some peeks of sun and temps in the mid-upper 70s. Breezes will be out of the NE at 13-15mph. Tonight...more cloud cover with some clearing here and there, breezes out of the E-NE at 5-10mph and temps in the low 70s.  At this time the beginning of Autumn is looking like a keeper. Overcast Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast but Ms Sun's trying her best to peek on through.  Everything's drench from yesterday's rainfall (3.75" according to my friend's yard water collector gauge).  The aroma of wet sand and fishy sea is strong in the air today.  The blog's a little later as I slept in with a vacation day on tap!  It's probably not going to be a beach day but the big rains are out of here and Ms Sun will be peeking in throughout the day.  It'll be a mostly cloudy and overcast day with temps in the mid-upper 70s.  Breezes will stay where they are now...NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...a 20% chance of a stray thunderstorm with temps in the low 70s and breezes staying out of the NE at 8-9mph. Tomorrow looks much like today with the weekend being the star of the onset of Autumn!

Muggy Monday

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.   It's overcast with a sky full of clouds.  No stars or moon shining down this morning.  It's humid and muggy.  There's a very light breeze out of the S-SW at 6-7mph.  It's looking like an 80-90% chance of a washout today as a rainy weather system with thunderstorms are West and South of us heading toward our island.  It'll be a wet, muggy day with temps tapping 80° and winds out of the S-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...showers likely along with a chance of thunderstorms mainly before 8p.m.  Temps will be down into the upper 60s and breezes out of the East at 6-8mph.  Tomorrow...not as wet but maybe just as cloudy as today.

Full Moon Friday

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  We have a little cloud cover (should make for a terrific sunrise in a half hour).  There's a little breeze (out of the East at 8-10mph).  It's a lovely "fallish" morn down the shore.  We're going to have another "jewel" of a day with temps in the low-mid 70s and plenty of sun pouring down with big white puffy (cumulous) clouds.  Breezes will be out of the East at 14-16mph.  Tonight...full "harvest" moon, clear and starlit, breezes out of the E-SE at 12-14mph and temps in the mid 60s.  Tomorrow...just about the same and Sunday...well, one forecast said Sunshine and another said Rain.  I'm going to keep checking.

Windy Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and windy (NE 20-25mph).  It was a warm one last night as I was lucky enough to enjoy dinner on the beach and stay until sunset with lovely warm weather and an almost full moon rise.  The weather has taken a bit of a turn as the winds and overcast sky is making for a much cooler start to the day.  The clouds will make way for Ms Sun today as it'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the East at 18-20mph.d  Tonight...partly cloudy with breezes out of the East at 9-14mph and temps in the mid-upper 60s.  Tomorrow...more sun; less wind.  Saturday...the same with slight chance of showers at night.  Sunday...warmer (low 80s) with rain in the forecast.

Hump Day Perfection

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly clear with a nearly full moon, stars twinkling above, a light breeze from the SW at 6-8mph and some clouds thrown in.  It's a perfectly lovely morning down the shore.  It'll be a lovely day and evening as well.  We're about to have abundant sunshine pouring down with some clouds in the mix and temps in the low-mid 80s and breezes out of the W-SW at 8-10mph.  Tonight...some extra clouds in the starry, moonlit sky with a 20% chance of a passing shower.  Temps will be around where they are now...low-mid 70s.  Tomorrow...a little cooler, cloudier and breezier. Oh...the Full Harvest Moon is Friday and take note...the high tides are becoming significantly higher (never drive through corrosive salty tide waters). On another note...the weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday being the better of the two days as there's a sunny day on tap for Saturday (80°) and a chance of rain showers on Sunday (for all you firefighters headed this way for the New Jersey State Firefighters Convention and Parade).

Lovely Monday

Mornin'!  The island is quiet again as all the weekenders including the motorcycles have checked out.  All my neighbors have left their island homes.  It does take some getting used to see all my surrounding homes empty after that crowded summer intensity.  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, still dark with star-lit skies.  It's a tad breezy with Northerly breezes at about 13mph.  It much cooler than this weekend as the AC's once again shut off with our windows once open allowing those island breezes inside.  Has a touch of Fall in the air this morning.  It'll be a gorgeous day down the Shore with plentiful sunshine and breezes off the ocean E-SE at 10-15mph.  Temps should be around the mid-upper 70s.  Tonight...clear with temps back into the upper 60s and breezes remaining out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same!  We're gearing up for a full "harvest" moon this week (Friday)! We love our Full Moon!

Happy Anniversary!

Mornin'!  Happy Anniversary to my hubby today.  We've been celebrating for 15 years in the shadow of the 9/11 tragedy but we continue to celebrate our married lives together for many, many more years than that.  And, Happy Anniversary to our daughter and her hubby!  Wishing you a continued life of wedded bliss!
On to the weather...it's 77°, breezy and cloudy this morning in Wildwood NJ.  We're going to have a mix of cloud and sun this morning with breezes out of the W-NW at 15-19mph.  The clouds should give way to sun later this morning, early afternoon as temps tap the low 80s.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 60s-low 70s and breezes out of the NW at 15-22mph.  I guess by tomorrow, the island will be quiet and empty again but for now...noisy Harleys and lots and lots of vehicles parked everywhere!  Off to my anniversary breakfast!

Roar to the Shore

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  Dewpoint 73° and humidity 91%.  At the moment we're having a nice SW breeze at 7-9mph. You can certainly feel the weather out there this early morn.  The sky is clear and starlit.  Must have had a major overnight check-in as the neighborhood is jammed packed with island livin' folk again.  The fun never ends in Wildwood.  It's looking like the weather will cooperate too (to a point).  It'll be a nice sunny start to the day as clouds join in the mix by this afternoon becoming a partly sunny / partly cloudy day.  Temps will be up there...upper 80s (maybe even tapping 90°) with Southerly breezes at 15-20mph (that's a bit breezy for umbrellas staked on the beach...keyword: "bungee").  Tonight...more clouds with a 50% chance of rain and but it's looking like it's on the overnight.  Temps will drop back down into the mid 70s with breezes out of the South at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow...starting out cloudy but there is a mix of forecasts saying that it could be mostly cloudy all day with a chance of a shower but a couple reported...clouds checked out by mid-day with a mostly sunny day.  One thing to keep in mind though...could be Westerly winds tomorrow...you know the drill about the West Winds = Biting Flies!

Summer time for the Bikers

2016 Philly Car Show Harley
Mornin'!  It's 78° in Wildwood NJ.  It's hazy, hot and humid this morning.  We've got lots of cloud cover and no breezes.  It's heavy weather out there!  I couldn't believe it was this warm on the porch thermometer this early.  Its was 81° last night at 10p.m.  We're having a heatwave and it's less than two weeks until the first day of Autumn.  I took a walk on the boards last night and the Harley's are taking over the island!!! I'm sure it'll be the triple the amount as the influx for Roar to the Shore has begun.  Looks like a pretty decent weekend for weather to cooperate too.  Today will be sunny (once these clouds check out) and hot as temps get into the 90s.  Winds will be out of the W-SW at 10-12mph (two words: insect repellent).  Looks like the rain (if we get any) is holding out until late Saturday night (60% chance) and then clear and nice on Sunday.
Overall...nice weekend up ahead.

A Little Warmer Than Yesterday!

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with a faint breeze wifting (wafting) over the island from the N-NW at about 5mph.  It's marshy smelling as that back bay fishy aroma is out there this morning.  We could have a brief thunderstorm or rain shower this morning.  Today we'll have a mix of clouds and sun again but with warmer temps as it's going up into the upper 80s and could possibly hover around that 90° mark.  Breezes will be mostly out of the W-SW at 5-10mph (always pack the insect repellent when you hear any kind of West winds as they bring the biting greenhead flies). Currently there's a rainy weather system just south of us according to the live doppler and the edge of it just might skirt Wildwood this morning (30% chance) but I'm thinking it'll just head out to sea and give us a mostly sunny start to another summer day.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the mid 70s and breezes out of the West at 9-11mph.  Beginning tomorrow the forecast looks like a typical Roar to the Shore weekend as there are chances of rain showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the weekend right up to Saturday night.  It's a "keep your eye on the doppler" kind of weekend but we'll see lots of sunshine as it'll feel like summer with the temps up near 90 for sure.  Friday night and Saturday night still look like the highest chance of rain showers / thunderstorms.

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still dark as Ms Sun won't be getting up for almost another half hour.  At the moment, we've got cloud cover (no stars to note this morning).  We got breezes too...N-NW at a nice clip...13-18mph.  It's a lovely morning.  It'll be a nice warm one today.  Ms Sun will mix with some clouds as the temp climbs up into the mid-upper 80s.  Breezes will remain out of the N-NW (pack insect repellent) and by tonight shift from the W-SW at 5-10mph.  Temps will drop back into the mid-upper 70s as the sky stays clear.  We're looking pretty good for "Roar to the Shore" Biker Weekend up ahead...there's a couple slight possibilities of rain and so far it's looking like overnight events...Thursday night into Friday and again on the overnight Saturday night.  Otherwise...the weekend's looking so far...so good!
High tide:12:52p.m.
Low tide:6:36p.m.
Ocean temp:77°
Sunset:7:20p.m.
UV Index:7-8 (high)
Rip Currents: Moderate - Anyone entering the surf should be very aware of these intense currents...also lifeguards are sporadic and mainly guard on weekends so keep watch for any beach patrol as you might want to check with them before heading into the drink.
As the island's once again empty and quiet (the roar is coming this weekend though) again, it takes a bit of getting used to. As I travel to the office each morning throughout the summer I see the seasonal crowded intensity of cars parked in every nook and cranny particularly on this one street I traverse. Well, yesterday morning...not one vehicle was parked on this street! It actually made me gasp. Amazing what happens here after Labor Day.
But hey... the weather is what's important this time of year...near perfect for the next month or so (aside from Tropical storms or Hurricanes) as we call this time "Our Jewel". Oh...check out a new webcam (great one too)...under my personal favs...North Wildwood Webcam has set it's camera atop the Matador Motel on the north end of the island.

Tuesday Mix and the Start of the "Jewel"

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, starlit skies.  We've got hefty NW winds at 20-30mph (the opposite direction of what we've been having).  Looks like a windy one today with a mix of clouds and sun.  Temps will get up into the low 80s as the winds stay checked in all day and night. By this evening, the clouds will take over while the winds switch from the N-NW (25-35mph) bringing the possibility of some much needed rain showers (50% chance) with temps headed back into the low 70s / upper 60s.  Ms Hermine only left beach erosion in her wake...no rain or street flooding.
High tide:12:08p.m.
Low tide:5:51p.m.
Ocean temp: 77°
Sunset:7:23p.m.
UV Index: 7 (on the high side)
Rip Currents: "Red" still posted (dangerous surf conditions) and anyone entering the surf must take the warnings very seriously.  As for guarded beaches, I'm sure there will be patrolling on the beaches but you won't see much in the line of lifeguards after Labor Day.
This is officially the beginning of the jewel season as everyone's packed up and gone home as the island's empty and quiet again. The weather should be near perfect for the next month or so as we call this time "the Jewel". Oh...I've added a new webcam (great one too)...under my personal favs...North Wildwood Webcam!

Happy Labor Day and "Bye" Hermine!

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  Windows are open and the lovely stiff breezes are flowing in and pushing all the window curtains in this lovely (feels like Autumn) morning.  Now classified as a post-tropcial storm, Hermine (she could have been a lot "meaner") is expected to remain powerful as it moves slowly northwestward off the Mid-Atlantic coast through at least Tuesday.  High surf, gale force winds, storm-surging flooding and dangerous rip currents could occur through Tuesday but that's not our coastline I'm happy to report (it's the New York and Massachusettes coastline).
Today...our barrier island will have it's share of beach erosion (rough surf) and some tidal flooding (some storm surge push) but thankfully Hermine's really turning away from us.  Today will be partly sunny/partly cloudy (the clouds and sun are battling it out as I type) and windy (N-NW at 15-25mph) with temps tapping the low 80s.  Tonight...upper 60s, clouds checking in with a 20% chance of a shower or two and NW winds at 10-20mph.  These winds and high tides aren't going anywhere at least until tomorrow.  Just watch for any tidal/street flooding during the high tide times but I think we're good to go.  Oh...never drive through tide water (corrosive salt water out to destroy undercarriages of vehicles). I walked the boards yesterday (a very bad hair day I might add) and the beach had its share of holiday beach goers.  The smart folk made their beach campsites along the dunes protected from the intense breezes and sloughing sands.  You could sit on the beach but the ocean was "closed".  Same for today. And again...sit by the dunes and expect "no ocean dipping" and you should be good to go.  Oh well, so much for a perfect Labor Day Weekend!  We had the trifecta this year...Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day...all crapola washouts!  The Jewel's upon us though and life is good!
High tides:11:26a.m. and 11:36p.m.
Low tide:5:11p.m.
Ocean temp:77°
Sunset:7:24p.m.
UV Index: moderate (5-6)
Rip Currents: Red Zone (High) 1-2' above tides.

Lots of Hype and out of the Woods!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly sunny and breezy!  There are some clouds up there but Ms Sun's winning out this morning.  We're still hunkered down and ready for this mysterious Hermine to get finished with us. Yesterday turned into an okay day with just some very windy conditions and hardly a drop of rain and no tidal flooding in the streets.  We even had some peeks of sunshine in the afternoon.  I did retrieve my vehicle and took a ride around and it appeared that the beaches were closed yet some surfers couldn't be swayed.  It seems like lots of folks stayed around by the looks of those curious like myself.  The focus is on today...Ms Hermine is much further off our coast (thankfully) and she doesn't appear to want to stall out there and create any major problems for us now. We should expect winds (N-NE 20-30mph with 40+mph gusts) with some cloud cover and a 30% chance of showers today. Temps...mid-upper 70s. Tonight...mostly clear and windy (North 25-35mph and more gusting) with rain showers (40% chance), with temps in the upper 60s.  Tomorrow...more of those intense winds with sunshine and temps tapping 80°. With all this said, there will still be beach erosion with the winds and dangerous surf but the heavy rains and tidal flooding are not supposed to take over the barrier islands like what was projected. I'm keeping my eye on the tides though just in case those high tide times bring the sea into the streets...not likely but for the next 24-48 hours (Monday late morning high tide should be the worst)...keep vigilant.  Looks like the Wildwoods made it out of the Woods!
High tide:10:44a.m. and 10:54p.m.
Low tide:4:32p.m.
Ocean temp:77°

Storms-A-Brewing!

2015-Jonas
Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's dry.  It's gray and cloudy.  It's extremely windy (N-NE at 35-40mph).  Tropical Storm Hermine has its sites on our coast as it makes its way northeastward from the Carolina coast today.  It'll crawl offshore throughout the Labor Day weekend regaining strength.  Heavy rains and flooding in its path.  We should expect significant storm surge, high, intense surf, high winds and beach erosion throughout the entire weekend into Monday.  Tropical Storm warnings are in effect as far north as Sandy Hook NJ.  Rains should begin later this morning / early afternoon and continue to ramp up as we go.  Steady rains are predicted to commence this evening and go non-stop until Monday morning.  Add to that the storm surge (high ocean and back bay waves created by the storm's intense, non-stop winds) which will inundate the island.  Some of the meteorologists have mentioned Hermine packing as much punch as Jonas.  I'm signing off today and beginning preparations to hunker down.  We're moving our vehicles to high ground (for me it's City Hall's municipal parking lot in Wildwood), then removing all porch furniture, plants and whatever else we can remove and tie down.  Been there done this before and it's no joke.  What's amazing is how crowded Wildwood is at the moment.  It doesn't seem that anyone took heed on the warnings and stayed home as everywhere you look, the island is jammed packed with vehicles and people.
God help us all!
High tide:10:02a.m. and 10:15p.m.
Low tide:3:53p.m.
Ocean temp:75°

Possibility of Tropical Storm Conditions

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  Now I know why the air conditioner never went on last night...the thermostat's set on 75°!  Time to open the windows again!  But then again...I'd like to keep the winds and rain that are on the weekend holiday weather menu outside and the dry, quietness on the inside.  It's looking like a repeat of July 4th weekend with a rainy-windy-tropical stormy situation for the Labor Day weekend.  Today looks like the last of the nice weather days for awhile.  At least until next Tuesday.  Okay...here we go.  It's clear and windy (N-NE 18-21mph) with Ms Sun rising and shining as I type. It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps barely tapping 80° and stiff breezes and gusting out of the N-NE staying checked in all day into tonight while focusing on the tropics.  Tonight, the clouds will take completely over as temps drop down to around 70° and winds (E-NE) ramp up to 20-30mph (sustained). No rain on tap for today.  Saturday (rain begins in the afternoon), Sunday and Monday = rain and extreme winds.  Check https://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Wildwood%2C+NJ
for amazingly accurate current weather conditions for Wildwood.  In a nut shell... a major crapola weather Labor Day weekend down the shore.
Footnote: at 3p.m. on Friday reports are coming in that tropical storm Hermine will travel up the eastern shore/coast and possibly rotate in a "stuck" position off our coast.  One way or another, this storm will have a huge impact on our weather conditions.  Without a doubt, this barrier island will be battered with very heavy winds and storm surge/flooding beginning Saturday evening into Sunday evening and possibly Monday.  A couple meterologists have mentioned equating this storm to Jonas and Sandy with regard to record breaking tidal flooding and beach erosion.  Just saying.  I'll continue to report.
High tide:9:22a.m.
Low tide:3:12p.m.
Ocean temp:75°
Sunset:7:28p.m.
UV Index: 6 (low)
Rip Currents: Moderate Risk
I'm not even bothering with my Friday Beach Etiquette Tips.

Welcome September!

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ as we kick off the Jewel of all the Seasons.  September's not entering the stage on a sparkle though as we're under cloudy skies as it's raining lightly.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with 60% chance of light showers off and on throughout the day with the possibility of thunderstorms.  Temps should be just tapping the low 80s.  We might see peeks of Ms Sun throughout the afternoon.  Breezes are nothing to note at the moment but will wift (waft) over the island from the North at 5-10mph later.  Tonight...30% chance of showers then gradually clearing with temps in the mid-upper 60s. Look for Northerly breezes at 8-13mph.  As of this writing the holiday weekend's looking pretty grim.  Both Saturday and Sunday have "tropical storm conditions" posted...rain, humidity and very windy. Lots of tree pruning this upcoming weekend. One forecast said Monday's looking good and A-OK, but all the rest are posting that Labor Day looks a lot like the weekend...wet and windy.
