Keep On Marching March (until next year)!

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood.  It's dark and quiet with clear skies and stiff breezes coming from the South at 17-22mph. It'll be mostly sunny today with winds ramping up from the S-SW at 23-33mph as temps hit the mid-upper 60s.  Tonight...clouds roll in mainly during the overnight bringing a 60% chance of precipitation as temps drop back into the low-mid 50s. Oh...forgot to mention those last of the March winds...Southerly breezes 20-25mph with gusts of 33+mph throughout the evening.  Tomorrow...rain and more stiff breezes.  Saturday...rain (likely before noon) and calmer.  Sunday...Ms Sun returns.  Oh...hey March...don't the let the door hit you in the arse!

Happy Hump Day!

Mornin'! It's the start of the Boardwalk Kennel Club Dog Show in Wildwood today!  http://www.wildwoodsnj.com/calendar.cfm?mode=results&coe_id=809
For the most part the weather will cooperate this year.  It's currently 38° in Wildwood.  It's clear and quiet.  The breezes are barely there for now (whew...what blustery last couple days here).  Ms Sun's behind the horizon waiting for her grand entrance.  We'll have abundant sunshine today as these chilly temps climb up into the low 50s.  Breezes (sorry to say) will ramp up a bit out of the SE at 10-20mph later this afternoon.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the upper 40s and breezes shifting from the South at 15-25mph.  Looks like rain will be developing tomorrow night into April Fool's day and that's no joke!

March Keeps On Kicking!

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  The moon is shining down.  The winds are the main attraction.  They're blowing over the island like a freight train since late yesterday afternoon.  March is making its presence known with intensity as those March winds are out of the NW at 30-35mph w/gusting. They're staying checked in and will continue to wift (waft) all throughout the day into this evening from the NW at 25-30mph.  Speaking of "checking in", Ms Sun's due to check in today as we have a sunny day on tap with temps in the low-mid 50s.  Tonight...low-mid 40s.  The last of March looks "eh" with some major winds and rain coming Thursday night and surely doesn't look like it's going out like a lamb. It'll be great to see March head on out of here!

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  We currently have cloud cover and a very light drizzle coming down.  The sounds of the surf pounding the coast is loud and clear with the help of all this cloud insulation.  The forecasters are saying mostly rain showers today before 11am with patchy fog in the morning and possible light rain showers into the afternoon (40% chance). Speaking of this afternoon, we may see peeks of sun too. Temps will climb near 61. Light and variable winds becoming Westerly at 12 to 17 mph later this morning. Tonight...mostly clear with temps around mid 40s. We're supposed to gets major winds later first out of the W-SW at 10-20mph then, shifting again by tonight from the West at 25-35mph w/gusting. Easter Sunday

Mornin'!  Happy Easter! It's 47° in Wildwood.  We're under some cloud cover at the moment as Ms Sun's up there but having difficulty shining through this Sunday morn.  It's a little breezy (E-NE at 10-12mph). We may see peeks of sun this morning as breezes ramp up a bit from the East at 15-20mph. Rain clouds and with occasional rain showers will be here by this afternoon (40% chance).  Temps should just about tap the 50° mark.  Tonight...rain showers and temps in the upper 40s as Easterly winds 13-17mph will wift (waft) over the island.  Tomorrow...beginning with rain as sun with winds check in!

Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's back!  She's up and shining through some milky clouds.  Those clouds will be checked out soon though as it'll be a sunny Saturday with temps tapping the 50s today.  Breezes are out of the NE at 12-20mph but will simmer down some at 7-12mph.  Looks like a nice one on tap for the Easter Egg Hunt on the beach today.  Tonight...clear with some partial cloud cover, breezes out of the NE at 10-15mph and temps back into the low-mid 40s.  Tomorrow...a bit warmer but breezier with stiff sea breezes coming off the ocean.

Good Friday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  Slept in a bit as we've got us a bonus holiday today as our grandson arrived last night for the weekend!  There's nothing greater than walking down the stairs in the morning and having a beautiful, sweet 2½ year old grandson looking up and saying "Good morning GeeGee (that's his name for me)."  It's gray today; breezy and gray.  No rain but it looks and feels like we could have rain showers at any moment.  Hubby said that all the wet weather is north of us.  With that said...it'll be a gray day with a 20% chance of rain showers.  Winds are stiff out of the SW at 20-25mph.  Temps will head into the mid-upper 60s.  Tonight...clear, back into the 50s with N-NW breezes at 18-25mph.  Tomorrow and Easter still looking sunny and mild!

Windy Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  We've got clear starlit/moonlit skies again.  We've got offshore breezes (16-22mph).  And, basically we've got a lovely Spring morning out there.  It'll be mostly sunny today as temps rise into the upper 60s. It's becoming blustery today as winds will pick up and blast over the island at 25-35mph w/40+mph gusts out of the South.  Tonight...partly cloudy as those stiff winds stay checked in while temps drop down into the low 50s. Tomorrow looks like a typical "Good Friday" as clouds and rains are due in.  The weekend's still looking A-OK but temperatures won't be as high as today.

Full Moon Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  We're under some "Halloween" sky as that Full Moon is trying to shine through the ominous yet brightly lit cloud covered sky.  The sound and aroma of the ocean is loud and clear.  It's breezy with winds out of the SW at 20-30mph.  In about an hour we should be receiving peeks of sunshine as the clouds clear out for Ms Sun's rise.  Breezes will simmer down as today will truly feel spring-like with SW breezes at 10-20mph and temps in the mid-upper 60s as the sun shines down.  Tonight...clear, temps in the mid 50s as breezes shift a bit from the South at 12-15mph. Still looking like rain showers for tomorrow night into Friday.  The weekend's still looking A-OK!

Lovely Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's clear...starlit and moonlit.  It's a little breezy...S-SW 10-12mph.  It's crisp and cold and feels like a winter morning.  We're going to warm up though as Ms Sun's due up in an hour or so.  Temps will rise into the mid-upper 50s as blue, sunny skies will be making a nice Spring day. Winds will stay around where they are until tonight when they ramp up still out of the S-SW at 25-42mph as temps drop into the mid-upper 40s. Tomorrow looks even better as temps will be giving us some real Springtime degrees...mid 60s. As for the holiday weekend...eh...Thursday night into Friday morning looks rainy but Saturday and Easter Sunday looks sunny and much like today...on the cool side.

Spring is here right?

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood. It's snowing lightly.  Happy Spring right?  I'm hoping that March just got all its crap out of its system during this Nor'easter.  Thankfully March will be gone in 10 days.  It's cold and wintry and snow flurries are coming down at a decent clip as I type. It should continue to come down with rain added in the mix during the morning. The streets are wet and the vehicles and other surfaces are covered in an icy/snowy mix. I checked the sidewalk and steps and for the most part they're just wet although some spots are icy. It's breezy (NW 15-25mph) making it feel cold and wintry. By mid-morning a gradual clearing will begin as Ms Sun appears and temps rise into the mid-upper 40s.  Those NW breezes aren't going anywhere soon as it'll feel wintry today.  By tonight this weather system will be out of here as temps drop back down into the upper 30s and breezes continue to wift (waft) over the island from the W-NW at 15-25mph. Tomorrow...sunny and back in the 50s with some Spring-like weather returning.  Wednesday...60s!  There's hope!

Happy Spring!!!

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  Welcome Springtime although it doesn't feel it! We're dry with no rain or snow on the overnight and nothing white as far as the eye can see.  It's windy though...E-NE winds at 20-30mph making for a bit of a wintry chill this morning.  It's feeling blustery and cold.  All the forecasts I've checked are all saying a wet first day of Spring with 80% chance of steady rain and/or wintry mix and 90% chance tonight. One forecaster said peeks of sun this afternoon.  I'm thinking no Ms Sun at all today as it's pretty unanimous (not to mention ominous) that she won't be checking in until Tuesday. Today's temps will hover around where they are now as tonight even chillier and may drop into the mid-upper 30s.  The breezes aren't going anywhere either as we'll have those Nor'easter winds until tomorrow night.  March is giving us what she's good at whether it's the first day of Spring or not!  Hold on to you hats and keep the winter jackets handy as we welcome in a brand new season!

A Nuisance Nor'easter Weekend Storm

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  It clear and Ms Sun will be rising any minute as the "red" sky is over the horizon and we know what "red sky" means.  It's breezy (NE at 15-25mph).  It's aromatic (smell of the sea along with winter).  It's cold and crisp and feels like a winter's morn not Spring (which is tomorrow).  It's March...enough said. Occasional light rain and snow develops later today and continues through Sunday evening. Maybe a little light accumulation. More of a nuisance storm than anything. It'll be sunny to start today but the clouds are coming later this morning which will give way to a rainy afternoon (90% chance). Temps will only get a couple degrees higher. Tonight...temps drop (low 30s) with rain and snow showers into the overnight with winds out of the NE at 23-26mph. We'll wake to rain and/or a wintry mix and winds for the first day of Spring tomorrow. Accumulation is a tough one as all forecast differ but the local weather guy is saying a dusting to an inch of snow. It will be unseasonably cold and breezy so pretty unpleasant to be outside this weekend. Brisk onshore winds will lead to some minor tidal flooding along the shore Sunday but nothing major. We do warm up significantly later next week, as it will feel and look more like spring starting Wednesday.

TGIF! Mack's Pizza Opens Today!

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood.  It's clear (stars are twinkling) and breezy (W-NW 10-12mph). Ms Sun's on her way as I type.  It'll be a nice one (for awhile) as temps climb up tapping 60° and the sun shines down.  Breezes will be out of the West and will ramp up to 18-25mph.  Tonight...clear while temps drop back down into the upper 40s-low 50s with W-NW breezes.  Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday...crapola!  We've got us a Nor'easter who has the coast in its sights! And, it's looking like some rotten weather up ahead...tomorrow looks like rain and wind beginning in the afternoon. Then Sunday more rain with major winds and snow with possible accumulation in the evening.  And to think we just considered putting the car snow scraper and snow shovel away for the year! Ha! March would never go for that!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Top thee mornin' to ye! Happy St. Patty's Day! It's 47° in Wildwood.  We're under clear, starlit skies with no breezes as it's a lovely Spring morn on the island.  Looks like a bit of weather mix today as Ms Sun rises and shines, the clouds and/or fog will roll on in and bring gray skies and a chance of passing rain showers later this afternoon and into this evening (30% chance). Temps will tap 60° as breezes come from the W-SW at 10-12mph and ramp up tonight out of the West at 15-20mph w/gusts as temps drop back into the mid 40s. Tomorrow and Saturday look sunny. Still looking at a wintry mix for the first day of Spring though.

Portland Weather

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  We're currently under clear, starlit skies.  No breezes to note.  It's a crisp Spring morn.  I've checked four forecasts and everyone had a different lineup on the weather menu. I'm stumped. Since it's clear at the moment, I'm going with a clear morning as Ms Sun's waiting to rise and shine (the horizon's already beginning to lighten). It's still dark though. Once she's up, she'll provide some dry-out for this dampness as of late as the temps get into the upper 50s (possibly tapping 60°). Breezes will commence at 5-10mph out of the SE.  Clouds aren't far off and will roll on in a little later and bring back the dampness...fog and rain showers (30% chance). Tonight...20% chance of rain showers and temps down into the mid-upper 40s with NW breezes. Looks like more sunshine though for tomorrow and Friday although Sunday evening still has that wintry mix on the forecast.  Spring is 3 days away!

Play Misty For Me

Mornin'! It's 46° in Wildwood.  We're under overcast skies.  No rain showers at the moment but it's damp out there and everything's wet. There's a 30% chance of rain showers today as the clouds aren't going anywhere.  One forecast did mention "peeks of sun" today but there's no mention of Ms Sun anywhere else. Personally...I'm going with a total "gray" day. Temps will get up into the upper 50s as the North winds wift (waft) over us at 5-8mph.  Tonight...patchy fog and mist and mostly cloudy with temps around where they are now (mid-40s) with light and variable breezes.

Rainy Start to the Week

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  We're in the midst of heavy cloud cover with mist and a lull in the rain (it's coming) but everything's soaked and dripping wet.  The aroma and sound of the sea is heightened with the current conditions. The sound of the surf pounding away at the shore (I'm six+ blocks away) is so loud and distinct that I can hear it inside my house with the windows closed!  It'll be a breezy and wet today as rain is on the forecast up until tomorrow afternoon.  It's basically just misty outside at the moment and will be that way when turning in tonight.  However, during the day...80% chance of rainfall off and on and it will get intense as these gusty winds will add to the annoying downpours. Winds will be strong off the ocean at 28-35mph w/gusting out of the E-NE as temps will get into the low-mid 50s.  Tonight...rain as temps head back into the upper 40s as winds simmer down to 12-15mph out of the NE.

First Day Of Daylight Savings Time

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood.  Welcome Daylight Savings Time!  WooHoo! If you hit the sack last night without any consideration to turning those clocks ahead one hour then you're running late.  It'll be "eh" today.  It's currently cloudy with no moisture (other than the damp saltiness the ocean naturally brings to island) and no breezes although the ocean's roar is making itself known (probably due to all the cloud insulation) and lets not forget the wonderful aromas of the marsh out there this morning.  It'll stay cloudy all day with a couple peeks of sun here and there but mostly it'll be gray and drizzly with 60% chance of occasional rain showers throughout the day.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 12-15mph. By this evening...steady rainfall and becoming very windy (Eastery 20-30mph w/gusting).  Today's temps won't get much higher than the mid 50s.  Tonight...temps drop into low 50s (possibly upper 40s).

Turn The Clocks Tonight!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  It's mostly overcast with Ms Sun about to break on through and shine down a bit.  It probably won't be for long as these clouds have no intention of checking out.  So with that said...today's forecast looks like overcast with some sun peeking through when eventually the clouds win out. It's more than likely we're going to have light showers throughout the afternoon and evening (40% chance).  Oh...and that's right into tomorrow.  Breezes (hardly there at the moment) will come in from the NE at 7-10mph and by tonight shift from the South at 12-14mph. Tomorrow...slight chance that we'll wake to rain.  Speaking of tomorrow...you'll want to wake to Daylight Savings Time so turn your clocks ahead one hour ("Spring" ahead; "Fall" behind) before turning in.

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  Yes...61°!  It's still feeling mild and Spring-like out there. We're under cloud cover with no breezes.  We had no rain overnight like the forecasters predicted.  The clouds will hang out this morning for awhile as the sky will eventually show blue as Ms Sun will be peeking through and making for a partly sunny day.  Temps will stay right around where they are now. Breezes will ramp up just a little out of the North at 13-16mph.  Tonight...temps will be in the low 50s with a few leftover clouds hanging around and breezes out of the N-NW at 5-10mph.

Another One for the Lovely Weather Books

Cape May NJ - captured this shot last night as I just missed the sunset
Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood.  Spring is once again in the air.  It's clear and Ms Sun's lighting the early morning sky as she rises. Breezes are light out of the North at 6-8mph.  It smells incredible outside (one of the best things about living on an island and being surrounded by water) is that briny saltiness in the crisp morning seashore air. It's the first thing that wraps itself around you when stepping on the porch. It'll be another beauty today as temps climb into the upper 60s (possibly tapping 70°) with sun shining down. I saw that Philly hit records with 81° yesterday as they got a true taste of Summer (first time that "S" word's been mentioned in my blog this year). Breezes will be out of the W-SW at 10-15mph today.  Tonight...clouds in the mix as there's a 30-40% chance of a shower beginning on the overnight. Temps will drop a bit into the low-mid 50s and SW (becoming West) breezes wift (I mean "waft") over us at 10-20mph. Another 50-50 weekend as Saturday looks much like today as Sunday (daylight savings time) there's a chance of rain.

Hump Day Beauty

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood.  It's clear and quiet and lovely this early morn.  The seagulls are once again awake and happily laughing somewhere in the neighborhood.  Ms Sun's crossing the horizon as I type.  It'll be another lovely Spring-like day as sun pours down, temps climb up into the upper 60s (possibly tapping 70°) and breezes out of the SW at 12-14mph.  Tonight...clear and mild in the upper 50s and breezes out of the S-SW at 5-10mph.  Looks like tomorrow more of the same too! Spring is in the Air!

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood.  It feels amazing outside as Spring is in the air!  There are no breezes and it's clear and quiet except for the seagulls laughing in the distance.  It's going to be a really pleasant day down the shore as temps climb up into the mid-upper 60s (no typo)! Ms Sun's on her way and will shine all day as breezes wift (I mean waft) over the island from the West at 9-11mph.  Tonight...more of the same with clear skies, breezes out of the W-SW at 10-12mph and temps in the upper 50s. And, speaking more of the same...forecasts for tomorrow, Thursday and Friday will be just like today! Our mailman will mostly likely have his shorts on today! 11 days until Spring! Better yet...10 more days until Mack's opens!

Last Week Of Standard Time as a Sneak Preview of Spring Arrives

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood.  We've got some frost out there this crisp morn.  Ms Sun's about to rise and shine and will be shining down today working on that frost and snow that remains here and there.  Temps are going into the mid-upper 50s with breezes 10-15mph out of the S-SW as this week will be our first true taste of Springtime.  It's exciting!  Tonight...clear, upper 40s and SW breezes at 5-10mph.  It's the New Moon today too!

Nice Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly and there's not a breeze this crisp, cold, quiet morning. Looks like my forecasters got it wrong as we were supposed to have snow showers overnight into this morning and it's the complete opposite.  I've checked 4 different weather forecasts for today and 2 out of 4 said there's a 20% chance of a shower this Sunday morning.  The other 2 said sunshine to begin the day.  It's your pick.  I'm going with "sunny start" by the looks of the sky and Ms Sun boldly crossing the horizon in the milky (light clouds here and there and could be throughout the day) sky as I type.  It looks like the beginning of a nice weather pattern too as today begins sunshine and more meltdown with temps in the mid-upper 40s and light N-NE breezes at 6-8mph.  Tonight....low 40s, clear and breezes out of the South at 3-4mph.  Tomorrow and Tuesday...low-mid 50s and Wednesday...mid-upper 60s.  It's still March though and one never knows where March could take us.

50-50 Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood.  We had our mushy, wet snowfall of about 4-5" yesterday which is still lying on grassy surfaces and vehicles that missed the "clean-off".  It's a brisk clear morning. Ms Sun's over the horizon and doing her "sunshine" thing.  No breezes to note at the moment.  It'll be clear, sunny and crisp today with temps in the mid-upper 30s and breezes out of the North at 7-9mph.  Clouds will eventually filter in by tonight as temps stay just about where they are now and breezes shift from the South at 11-13mph. There's a chance of snow showers tonight around midnight (40% chance). And, we could wake tomorrow to showers (at least before noon) as Sunday should be mainly sunny. I think Stone Harbor(the island just north of Wildwood) is having their plunge into the ocean today...good luck you crazy plungers!

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood.  We're snow and cloud covered.  It began snowing before midnight and is still coming down. Everything but the ground is white (guess it's a little too warm for it to stick).  I'd say we received a couple inches.  All the vehicles will need dusting off but sidewalks are a-ok. The forecast for today is more snow/wintry mix right into the afternoon.  Another 1-3" is expected.  Chance of precipitation is 100%.  Winds are currently not that bad but they're heading this way for a snowy/windy afternoon (N-NE 20-30mph w/gusts over 40mph).  Temps are only going up into the mid-30s.  Tonight...clouds should begin clearing out as temps drop into the upper 20s and winds simmer down a bit out of the North at 10-20mph. The weekend's looking 50-50 with intervals of sunshine for tomorrow day as clouds take over late in the day. Then another round of wintry mix tomorrow night into Sunday morning.  One good thing by the middle of next week we're going to get a lovely taste of Spring with sunshine and 60+ temps! It's not over yet though...it's March!

March has that ominous look in its eyes

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's about to rise and shine.  It's cold and still with a bite in the crisp, salty air.  It'll be a clear, cold yet sunny start to the day as clouds will eventually roll on through later bringing not only a cloudy afternoon and evening, but occasional snow showers. We might see about an inch of the white stuff.  Temps will stay in the low-mid 30s as breezes out of the E-SE 10-14mph. Sorry to say that all reports say tomorrow as well as most of the weekend will be a cold, very blustery (50+mph winds) and wet (wintry mix).  Key word: blustery. Can't stand March.

First of Five March Hump Days!

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood.  We're under cloud cover with rain pouring down.  Breezes are out of the North at 15-20mph.  It'll continue to rain throughout most of the morning and by mid-afternoon the winds should bring clear skies and colder temps.  As Ms Sun shines down later, we'll drop down into the upper 30's/low 40s as the NW winds wift (I mean "waft") over the island at 30-35mph and pushing the clouds out to sea.  Tonight...temps drop more into the low-mid 30s (maybe even the upper 20s) and NW winds at 25-30mph with gusting will certainly give us a bit of a chill factor.  I'm hearing the "S" word for tomorrow.  Just saying.

March Has Arrived!

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly in the clear blue sky.  The winds haven't ramped up yet and it feels like a typical chilly, calm Spring morning down the Shore.  But it's March and as I've said it before this is my least favorite month of the calendar year.  Reason being...the March winds.  One of the weather people said that it's coming in like a lamb this year.  I don't trust March enough to say that.  It's calm at the moment but the winds are due in today and will probably be here every day for the next 31 days in some form or fashion.  Not to mention...March is on the sneaky side and can bring some powerful snow storms...just saying.  Not today though as the forecast is: sunny with temps in the low-mid 50s.  Winds (when they commence later this morning) will be out of the E at 12-14mph, then shift from the E-SE at 17-21mph, and by tonight Southerly at 22-30mph w/gust as the cloud cover takes over bringing rain (90% chance)tonight and the overnight.  Tomorrow...Ms Sun's back with those gusty winds.  Hang on to your hats March has arrived.
