Here comes the Sun...doobie, doowah...

Currently 45 in WW as the morning drizzle continues right into lunch time. Sometime this afternoon, the sun (remember that?), well it's returning and will be around for at least 6 days and will make for a very nice holiday weekend. The temperature will reach into the high 50's and maybe 60's by days end. The Winds aren't going anywhere sorry to say (up to 25mph gusts) until they simmer down by tonight. It'll be a clear, calm, quiet evening. Could be a nice soak in the hot tub under the stars!

Repeat of yesterday with Coastal Flood Warning still in effect

WW will remain wet and windy today. Rain showers will continue off and on throughout the day and finally diminish by days end. The Coast will remain under a Flood Warning this morning. The Dipper says it will be difficult to determine the difference between run-off flooding and tidal flooding as they will be neck and neck. The full moon makes the flooding that much worse as high tides will be 8-10 a.m. this morning. The winds will gust to 20-25mph creating a bit of sandblasting...refreshing the complexion. As we enjoy our freshly sloughed skin, consider shopping for some sunblock since the upcoming forecast will certainly require it. Summer will give us a sneak peak by the end of the week. It's coming...82 more days until Summer!

Floody Monday

All kinds of flooding taking place in WW today...Tidal, poor drainage, full moon, street flooding, clogged outflow pipes, more beach erosion...you name it and we'll probably see some sort of flooding havoc today throughout sections of the island. There's a Coastal flood advisory out all day today. Temperatures will remain in the mid-50's all day with winds of up to 20mph gusts. Sounds like a "boot & hood-up" kinda day. I have another word to describe this kind of day but it wouldn't be proper to write it. I'll just leave it as "Floody Monday".

Palm Sunday

Happy Palm Sunday! Currently 43 degrees and mostly sunny in WW. There are some clouds though as the blue skies are a bit obscure. (almost has that "white sky" look). Temperature will rise to 55 and an ocean breeze will keep us cool most of the day. Seagulls are making their presence known as they fly around the island laughing out loud. Today's so-so mild weather will stay around until this afternoon when the clouds thicken bringing rain by this evening. Then the damp, raw, chilly feel will be back and continue all day Monday into Tuesday. I'll be watching and keeping track of that next flood advisory. Here we go again.

Sunny Saturday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!

It's so nice to have the warm sun pouring in the windows at daybreak today. WW will be chilly though. It's currently 37 chilly degrees and going to 48. Winds are still apparent with 15mph gusts. Unseasonably chilly for the end of March. Just looks like March is rolling out like a Lion as it rolled in like a Lamb this year. Come on really...did we expect anything else would happen? You have to admit March has been a much gentler month than normal. As we wind down the final days of this month one can only think of those packed WW beach days ahead. Think Beach!!! 85 days until Summer!

Rainy Friday in Wildwood

Yuk today. Rain all day into the late afternoon or early evening in WW. At some points the rains will be heavy and other times...intermittent. The temperature is currently 54 degrees and will drop into the 40's by the afternoon. Oh...there's wind of 15-20 mph gusts all day too. Thus..."yuk" today. It's just not pretty. By the way, for those wondering what the weekend weather brings to the Shore...same exact temperatures and winds, but with Sun!!!!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Sunny morning, Cloudy afternoon, Rainy evening

WW will see all kinds of weather today from sun to rain. The day will begin with a nice sunny morning and turn cloudy by lunchtime and end with rain by evening. Temperatures will remain mild and be in the upper 50's. It'll probably feel much chillier with the night rain though. Sweatshirt and socks might just be the ticket later. 87 days until summer.

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Windy Wednesday

It's feeling a bit chillier in WW today due to the winds. It's currently 46 this morning. There will be wind gusts of 30mph creating a much cooler feel to the day. Sun will be shining brightly in the cloudless sky though which will help warm the island. Temperatures will rise into the high 50's, but the winds will keep us feeling like we need a sweater at the Shore today! (flip flops will work though.) 88 days until summer.

Rain or shine?

Rain or shine remains to be seen today. Forecast is reporting "chance of" today. So with that said it's currently 48 degrees and temps will reach into the high 50's. Chance of rain throughout the day and a chance of cloud cover all day and a chance of periods of sun. Chance of a repeat of yesterday. Your guess is a good as mine for today's forecast. Yesterday turned out to be a nice day in WW as the rains held off until last night when the torrents began. That's all I've got. I've checked the Dipper, the Nat'l Weather Service and weather.com and that's all I'm getting for today..."chance of..." (you could drive North for 40 minutes and do a little gambling in A.C. and take a chance there!)
Footnote:8:45am: Sun's out and it's a beautiful morning at the Shore.

Miserable Monday?

Mondays are tough enough and the gray skies, rain and gusts of wind will make it only tougher. As we crawl out of bed this morning, the misty rain begins and by lunchtime the rains become a bit steadier. Temperatures will be in the 50's with 15mph gusts of wind making a perfectly miserable day...chilly, raw, and damp. Sandals back on the shelf for now as boots will be much more appropriate footwear for this rainy workday.
Footnote~9:30am..sun's out! There seems to be lots and lots of gray clouds around us, but the sun's out above us right now making the weather more interesting to say the least.
Footnote~3:15pm..cloudy and still no rain! I'm scratching my head here.

Gorgeous Sunday Morn!

Mornin! Currently 48 degrees in WW this quiet, sunny Sunday morning. Forecast is pretty much a repeat of the last few days; sunny, warm, mild with island-simmering aromas all around. Temperature will go into the high 60's and may even reach 70. Not much of a breeze until later this afternoon when the island air shifts and turns cooler as the air which flows from the ocean. If you stop and listen the roar of the ocean waves breaking can be heard. (It's not the sound of traffic on an interstate even though the sound is identical!) Sweet Spring is so in the air.
91 days until Summer!

First Day Of Spring...countdown to Summer officially begins!

Today's the First day of Spring...in the Northern Hemisphere that is. In general, the four seasons correspond to the relative position of the sun to the earth. Meteorological determination of spring is calculated according to when the sun passes through the equatorial plane. When going from winter to spring, the sun is moving north; as soon as the sun crosses the equator, we call it spring. Add to that the recent beautiful weather we've had this week and you've got an El-Perfecto day in WW. Windows open today to catch the atmosphere and perfume of the island heating up. It's currently 52 degrees and rising to near 70 today. A great day for a trip to the Shore! Always keep in mind...the ocean is 46 degrees which will create that cool afternoon seabreeze over the island. Bring a light jacket. 92 days until Summer!

Birds are back!

Seems like the countdown to Spring's been going on forever. It's obvious we've made it; especially after surviving last month. Even more especially walking in from work yesterday and seeing my better half out back in an adirondack chair facing the sun and wearing only running shorts and a smile. (I'd post his photo but he won't allow it.) No shirt, no shoes, hands behind his head and happily soaking it up! It was hard to believe that just 33 days ago that adirondack was nowhere to be found in a snow drift. On a warmer note, WW's currently 40 degrees and going to 60+ with sun-a-blazing again and azure skies. Repeat of yesterday as the afternoon seabreeze will bring the temps down to the 50's. Just gorgeous. San Francisco weather baby. ONE MORE DAY UNTIL SPRING!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

2 days until Spring!

It's coming! And, the weather we're having proves it. It's currently 45 degrees in WW. We'll see 60+ today as well. Even though the mainland will see the 70's, the WW's will remain cooler thanks to the ocean temperatures keeping us cooler thermally. Even cooler yet is this afternoon when the air shifts and the seabreeze kicks in and turns our 60+ degrees into the 50's. This weather pattern will repeat itself for the next few days. Anyone visiting WW this weekend should keep in mind...WW doesn't feel quite as summery as everyone else. It's all good though. There's definitely reason to enjoy the Shore as sun, blue cloudless skies and the sea air abound...a feast for the senses!

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The luck of the Irish will turn the current 34 degrees in Wildwood to 60 today! Sun will shine and warm the island. Look for that seabreeze later this afternoon to cool things down a bit!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Partly sunny Or Partly cloudy?

WW's currently 41 degrees with mist in the damp air. The temperature will head into the low 50's and a slight breeze will be felt all day. Gray and cloudy this morning with sun heading our way by the afternoon. Once the sun returns, we may not see rain or cloudiness until Sunday! Spring is definitely in the air for the remainder of the week and will be felt today sometime when it becomes partly sunny or partly cloudy. Never could figure that out. Three days until Spring!
Footnote: it's 11:45am and it's "blue skies" out there! Spring warmth has returned.

Ides of March

Ides of March is celebrated each year on the 15th. Modern observances vary, one of which is celebrated by a toga run in Rome at the same location Julius Caesar was killed as this day honors his death. Now that it's daylight savings time, it's back to getting ready for work in the dark. It was a rough weekend with yet another major Nor'easter hitting the East coast and creating havoc with flooding and winds. If the rain was proportioned in snow amounts...around 30inches! It's still raining lightly in WW with a temperature of 46. Predicted rains continuing off and on today with winds picking up later. Gusts could be up to 25mph but nothing like this past Saturday. A flood advisory remains in effect. A raw, rotten day for the start of the week. On a better note...warm, spring-like weather will be in WW by the end of the week. 4 days until Spring!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Showery Sunday

Temperature this morning in WW is 46 degrees and heading to around 50 today. Skies will remain cloudy and periods of light showers will be present all throughout the day and night. Winds have subsided. Fog has lifted. Minor coastal flooding will still be evident in spots. We're currently in daylight sayings time so dinner time won't be as dark out! 4 more days until Spring!

Sandblasting Saturday

Waking to the sounds of freight train winds in WW this morning. It's an absolutely miserable day. One good thing, the temperature is mild thankfully as it's currently 50 degrees and will remain in the 50's all day. The winds will actually meet that number gusting along the coast up to 55mph at times. Couple that with rain and you have an intense dose of sandblasting when stepping outside. There's a coastal flood advisory along with a wind advisory. 2-4 inches of rain are expected and some major flooding will occur in WW during the high tides early this morning and 6:45 this evening. No flooding to report looking outside though this morning. Any surfers who want to take to the sea...15 foot waves today. Just a reminder to "Spring Ahead" tonight before laying you weary head on your pillow...as daylight sayings time begins once again so turn your clocks forward one hour!

A Gray Start to St. Patty's Weekend.

One month ago this weekend little did we know what tomorrow would bring...the beginning of the true test of endurance as the Blizzard of 2010 engulfed the WW's and our lives leaving us powerless for 6 days and nights. Much different story this Irish weekend as a Tidal Flood Advisory posted this Friday with light rains coming down this morning. It's currently 46 degrees in WW and going into the mid-50's once again. Periods of light rain throughout the day today. Winds will pick up significantly as the day proceeds starting with 15-20mph and by the increasing to 60mph gusts. The rains are going to continuing and worsen becoming heavier by tonight into tomorrow making my trek to the Erin Express more challenging.

Sprinkles are coming

WW has clouds today. It's feeling and smelling like rain. Currently 48 degrees and going to mid-50's but the dampness will make things feel chilly and raw. Sprinkles and brief showers are due late tonight and continue overnight. I heard the term "Tidal Flood Threat" recently and that certainly creates a grimace. More to come.
Footnote: 9:45am...sun is shining brightly. Not sure what's going on, but I'll take it.
Footnote: 1:45pm...clouds are back. The disappearance of the sun hasn't made it feel chilly either. It's all good.

Hump Day.

Seems like this hump day is going to be another nice one. Not quite exactly like the two previous days due to more clouds drifting over WW throughout the day. Mild temps as it's 46 degrees this morning and going into the high 50's. No wind (which amazes me as we continue to ease through March and its lack of its customary vigorous behavior). The sun is currently shining but the clouds begin their thickening and by tonight blue skies will only be in the imagination. It'll stay in our imagination for at least four days as the rains are coming! More to come.

Repeat of yesterday

RIP Fred. 11 more days until Spring yet it's already feeling like we're already there today. March is rolling in like a lamb this year. The Dipper's calling it "Sunsational"! WW will be in the mid-50's today and have blue skies with sun shining on the island. Ahh...the smell of the Shore is in the air.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Mild Monday

It's currently 43 degrees in WW and going into the mid 50's again today. Blue skies abound. No wind. Life is good.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Warm Sunday in the Wildwoods!

Well, it's truly the beginning of just a taste of Spring and warmer weather today. The snow mounds are depleting quicker than you can dig out the ol' sandchair. It's currently 43 degrees and predicted to go up into the high 50's. WW could see 55-58 degree temperatures today! Sun will be shining all day with a cloudless brilliant blue sky. These are the kinds of days that the senses are at work taking it all in...the fragrance of the sea and sand is intense; the seabreeze is a bit more welcoming; the gulls are out and about laughing loudly; the sun's rays are amazingly warm and thankfully creating water run-off sounds from the remaining Snowdunes on the island; and JM has shorts on! A cold one...and Senses are fulfilled! Come on Spring...13 more days!

Signs of Spring!

Morning has broken with signs of Spring!
With only 14 days until Spring...WW is going to feel its first truly Spring-like weekend of 2010. It's currently 32 degrees. There will be mild winds from the west but the sun will prevail and bring the temperature up to high 40's and we may even hit the 50's today. KeyWest temps are currently 55! Ahhh...it's coming.

Friday, March 5, 2010

TGIF!

It's looking like a repeat of yesterday. At least that's what The Dipper is saying. It's currently 41 degrees in the WW's. Mostly cloudy with periods of the sun's rays. Those rays seem to be making the seagulls laugh again! Nice sound. Sounds of the season beginning to change. 15 days until Spring!

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Sweetness in the morning air.

Currently 36 degrees with temperatures going up into the mid 40's in the WW. There will be a slight breeze...10mph and peeks of sun today. It'll be a mostly cloudy day with a chance of periods of rain...light rain...drizzle...or the Dipper calls it..."A Sprinkle." As I type this the sun is shining and there's a slightest feel of Spring in the air. Nice to breathe in the island air this morning...smells nice...sweet, clean and fresh! 16 days until Spring.
FOOTNOTE: Went out at lunch and it's beautiful outside! Sunny, blue skies everywhere and feels warm almost to the point of not needing a winter coat. It's currently 41 degrees but the sun is warm and doing the trick...making March seem like a lamb.

Coastal Flood Advisory

Although it's rather an annoying one out there, I think we dodged the bullet on this one. It's currently 35 degrees and raining with significant winds of 30mph with some 40+mph gusts. It's a perfectly rotten day. However, no snow or ice or blizzard like conditions. It's predicted that rains and winds will continue throughout the day today. Hello there March...do your thing! 17 days until Spring.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

In like a lamb huh?

Looking "lambish" for March's arrival I guess as it's predicted to possibly hit 48 degrees today. Winds are minimal at 10mph. Sounds like it's going to be mild. Hmmmmm.....so let's prepare for 1-3 inches of snow overnight shall we? Add some coastal flooding at high tide with a full moon. Mostly cloudy today with mild winds and snow overnight. There it is. 18 days until Spring.

1st day of the most challenging of all the Months!

Happy Monday! Happy March! Here we go..I'm going to try to be as optimistic as I can as we head into March; the month I dread the most. After February's challenging month, it would be really great if March was a mild and an easier month than it's known to be. We can only hope. Anyone reading this who doesn't know what I'm talking about, it's a fact that the coast does not have springtime in March. The cold ocean temperature and fierce March winds keep Wildwood extremely winter-like until April. No hyacinths, no tulips, no tree buds, no azaleas, no dogwoods, no green lawns, no nothing...just cold winds that scream at you while you scream back at the top of your lungs, "STOP"! The WW's however will get up to 46 degrees today with sun all day. The March winds will be present at 30mph. Not too bad. Sun's warm! Could be very good sign although I'm not counting on it. I can certainly handle today though for sure. Optimism is key! 20 days until Spring!
