Pre-Storm Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and overcast with light E-NE breezes at 2-3mph.  It'll be a partly sunny / partly cloudy day with breezes out of the NW at 15-20mph.  Temps will stay hovering around the low 40s feeling like the mid-upper 30s with the wind chill.  Tonight...cloudy with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s with breezes out of the N-NE at 10-16mph making it feel like the upper 20s / low 30s.  Winter just keeps rearing its ugly head. Speaking of Winter (37 days away)...well, tomorrow...rain with 25-40mph winds w/gusting and 34° wind chill.  In fact, this is exactly what NOAA posted today for tomorrow's forecast..."A coastal storm will impact our area with heavy rain and gusty winds Thursday into Friday.  A brief period of wintry mix is possible.  Localized flooding is possible due to heavy rain".

Winds Are Today's Main Attraction

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  That's not a typo.  I was as shocked as the next person when I stepped on to the porch this morning and discovered it wasn't cold out there.  We've been receiving some windy / rainy / nasty weather overnight into this morning but this big ugly weather system is pulling off the coast as I type.  These intense winds (S-SW 20-30mph w/gusting) is pulling the mild temperature right along with it as it will be drawing in the colder air and temperature as today's high looks to be around 49°-50°.  Winds switching out of the NW at 20-25 w/gusting are headed right for us.  There's a 60% chance of rain throughout the day. No sun in today's forecast.  Tonight...mostly cloudy, upper 40s, 20% chance of rain and NW winds at 20-30mph is what we have coming.  Hunker down today!  Tomorrow...mostly cloudy and cold (mid 40s) and not as windy.

Veterans Day Celebrated (again)

Mornin'!  It's 36°  in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Veterans Day (again) as today is the day the country commemorates our Veterans! Once again..."thank you for your service".  We've got "frost" outside today!  It's cloudy, cold and crisp with the vehicles, railings, plants and other surfaces all layered with a white, crispy coating of frost. Mark this as our first autumn "frost" start to the day.  It'll be fairly nice as Ms Sun begins to burn through the morning cloud cover and temps rise into the low-mid 50s with light breezes out of the SE at 5-8mph.  It'll be mostly cloudy by this afternoon.  Tonight...temps will stay in the low 50s as clouds take over completely as rains are in the forecast (100% chance) with winds ramping up out of the E-SW at 15-25mph w/gusting.  Expect rain all day tomorrow too (heavy at times) with a reprieve on Wednesday then back to rain on Thursday.  The stiff winds are hanging out throughout most of this week...keep the hairspray and hair gel close at hand!

Happy Veterans Day!

Mornin'!  Happy Veterans Day!  Today November 11th is the official US holiday honoring veterans.  It initially began as commemorating the end of World War I in 1918.   President Woodrow Wilson chose this day as Armistice Day the following year, corresponding to other countries' adoption of the same.  In 1926 this holiday was recognized by Congress and eventually became a legal holiday.  Thank you Veterans (that includes my hubby) for your service.
It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and calm with hardly a breeze to note.  It's the first real wintry,  icy cold morning this season.  Nothing's frosty or frozen (birdbath, outdoor shower etc.) yet but there's a real bone-chilling bite in the air for sure.  It'll be a pleasant, sunny Sunday with temps in the mid-upper 40s and breezes commencing a little later this morning out of the W-NW at 5-7mph.  Tonight...clear and in the upper 30s with W-NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Bundle up big time for that Eagles Game tonight...it'll be clear, cold and crisp in Philly too.  Although knowing Philly fans (being one myself) as I do, they most likely won't feel the chill while at the game.  Tomorrow...a little bit of cloud cover in the mix but warmer temps (low 50s).  This day (and tomorrow when we commemorate the holiday) is our remembrance to all you Veterans out there!

Blustery Weekend Ahead

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  Wind chill of 40°.  It's clear and windy (W-NW 20-25mph) and will get even windier today W-NW 25-35mph w/gusting.  Temps will be in the low 40s with a wind chill of low 30s.  It'll be the first taste of that ol' wintry feel as Ms Sun shines down on the island trying to keep us warmer.  Keyword today: layer!  It'll be clear and cold tonight (35°) with a wind chill of 30° (NW 18-22mph).  Tomorrow...sunny and a high of 47° and not as blustery as today.  Oh...there's another nasty rainy system heading toward us on Tuesday.  Just an fyi.

TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  The windows are closed and the furnace is fired up again!  It's chilly and blustery this morning.  It's gray and overcast and all forecasts have reported that Ms Sun is not checking in today.  Winds are out of the East at 18-22mph. There's a 50% chance of rain beginning a little later today and 90% chance tonight.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with breezes out of the E-SE at 20-30mph.  Tonight...cloudy with temps in the upper 50s with breezes out of the S-SE at 25-35mph then shift to the SW calming down at 10-15mph.  We'll see Ms Sun on Sunday but not tomorrow as the colder temps (mid-40s) and even stiffer winds will be making it seem more winter-like (the wind chill will feel like the 30's) than autumn-like for sure.  Layer up and get that soup simmering!

The Last Of The Decent Days For Awhile

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with hardly a breeze (E-NE 2-4mph).  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with peeks of sun this afternoon and temps still somewhat mild in the upper 50s.  North winds will wift (waft) over the island at 5-12mph later.  Tonight... cloudy with a 30% chance of a shower (beginning during the overnight) as it'll much cooler...low-mid 40s.  Those North winds will stay checked in at 10-15mph.  Looks like we'll have off and on showers tomorrow (90% chance) with Easterly blustery winds at 20-25mph.  Saturday and Sunday still look mostly sunny but colder.  Saturday's a much more blustery day and Sunday's high will only be around 43°. Both are good soup-making days! Yesterday was a New Moon which I forgot to mention and we all know it treats the island much like a Full Moon bringing higher than normal tides and why there's been so much water seeping into the streets via sewer grates as of late.  Make the effort not to drive through those salty, corrosive waters.  I hope today is somewhat  like yesterday as it was a beauty (furnace off and windows open).  I spent much of it outdoors in the fresh sea air...biking the boards, walking the dog, pulling out and cutting down annuals, perennials and veggie plants, also digging out and pulling some nice sized horseradish roots and making a couple jars of fresh horseradish which included clearing out my sinuses!

Perfectly Lovely Autumn Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's back and shining as she just crossed the horizon!  Everything's painted a beautiful shade of gold.  No breezes to note.  Expect some lovely weather today with plenty of sunshine and breezes out of the W-SW at 7-10mph.  Temps will be in the low 60s.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the mid-upper 50s and breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...more sunshine but cooler temps.  The weekend at this point looks much cooler.  Saturday looks cold, gray and windy (homemade soup day) and Sunday looks sunny and brisk.  No rain in the weekend forecast (other than Friday night).

Finally, The Last Of Political Advertising!

Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  We're in the midst of fog and mist as everything's soaked and dripping wet.  Not much in the line of breezes...Southerly 4-6mph.  Don't count on a lovely autumn day today as it'll be a mostly crapola weather day with the possibility of rain showers off and on throughout the day and evening (90% chance). It'll be gray, misty and foggy most of the morning as we head into patches of rain clouds.  Some rain could be in the form of thunderstorms producing gusting winds and heavy rain.  Temps will rise into the mid-upper 60s with breezes ramping up out of the South at 20-25mph with gusting.   Tonight...more chance (40%) of rain showers (before 9p.m.)with the clouds finally clearing on the overnight.  Temps will drop back down into the low 50s with SW winds becoming Westerly late tonight all at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...there's your lovely Autumn humpday...sunny, low-mid 60s and mild breezes!  I'm voting later rain or shine (The Polls are up at the Boardwalk at the Convention Center) and intend to make my vote count!  Happy Election Day...get out and Vote!

Early Sunset Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  Hope you remembered to turn those clocks back an hour!  It's quiet here on the island with no breezes to note.  No seagulls laughing this morning either.  At least not in my neighborhood. It'll be a lovely Autumn day today with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Breezes will commence a bit later out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy, 20% chance of showers, temps in the low 50s and breezes out of the E-SE at 9-13mph.  Tomorrow...the rains and winds are checking in but the temperature looks to be in the 60s. Ms Sun may not be checking back in until Wednesday by the way.

Remember the Clocks Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast and gray with some stiff breeze out of the West at 15-20mph.  Everything's wet and damp and drippy from the overnight rain that came down at a pretty good clip.  We never did get those heavy rain showers yesterday that were forecasted. It was just a gray, misty day with no rainfall until the overnight.  Today...a slight chance of a rain shower this morning with clouds through mid-morning.  Expect a gradual clearing with Ms Sun peeking through as temps stay right about where they are now...upper 50s.  It'll be a partly cloudy (big cumulous clouds) / mostly sunny, breezy day with winds out of the West at 20-25mph with gusting as high as 40mph. We should dry out nicely.  Tonight...mostly clear and much cooler with temps down into the mid-upper 40s and winds out of the West at 12-17mph.  Tomorrow...sunny, low 50s with calmer winds.  Turn the clocks back an hour so you can get an extra hour of sleep tonight and have dinner in the dark beginning tomorrow!  Daylight Savings time returns March 10th (my favorite month of all "NOT").  Have a nice weekend!

A Bad Hair Day On Tap

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  We're going through a mild stretch (I turned the furnace off Wednesday night and began to open some windows again).  Along with that mild temperature, it's blustery out there...winds out of the SW at 20-25mph w/gusting in the 30+mph.  It was raining a little while ago but stopped. At the moment everything appears dry now thanks to the windy conditions.  The weather will develop into a wet day with 80% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the day and 90% this evening.  Add to that S-SW winds at 15-25mph w/gusting and you got yourself a crapola weather day and night. And, there's always the chance of tidal flooding when heavy rain is in the forecast. Try not to drive through flood waters. Temps will climb up only a couple degrees today (upper 60s) and by tonight...low 50s.  We'll probably wake to showers in the morning then a gradual clearing by late morning tomorrow as Ms Sun begins to make her way back to warming the island tomorrow.  It'll still remain very windy tomorrow.  Tomorrow night into Sunday...dry, cooler and less windy.  Just a reminder...turn the clocks back tomorrow night.

Welcome November!

Route 347 (the road to the Shore)
Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  We have breezes out of the SW at 12-14mph with Ms Sun over the horizon and brightly shining on the island.   It's a lovely Autumn morn this first day of November!  It'll be nice all throughout the day with temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the S-SW at 15-18mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps just tapping the 60s and breezes stiff out of the S-SW at 20-25mph.  Tonight's stiff breezes will be bringing tomorrow morning's rain as it'll be a crapola Friday and start to Saturday not to mention Monday.  But, Sunday's looking to be hanging in there with sunshine but cooler temps.  Remember this weekend's the dreaded "turn the clocks back" weekend.
