New Year's Eve

Mornin'!  This is it...my last entry for 2017!  As I sit here doing a quick reflection of this past year, my first thought is that it gets a thumbs up.  I feel obliged to put something in writing.  Many of you don't know this but my blog allows me to see who's reading my entries.  I can't actually see "who's" reading but I can see "where" the reader is.  I'm happy and proud to say that folks from all over the world check out my weather reports for some reason.   From Steelville Missouri to Portland Oregon; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Rio Grande, New Jersey; Jonesboro, Arkansas to Ottawa, Canada; Australia to Ukraine and so on.  Anyone reading this now...Happy New Year's  Eve!  I'm happy and grateful to report I'm alive and well with no health issues (I've graduated to an annual visit to the oncologist instead of every six months from my bout with breast cancer 5+ years ago).  My hubby and better half  (of 46 years) is alive and "partially" well (with a brand new torn meniscus...could be worse) and with no other health issues. A new grandbaby coming (to our youngest child/our daughter) was announced to us this year (due in March) as our oldest daughter married a wonderful guy this past Spring who is now part of our family extending it even a bit more I'm happy to say.  And, two days ago I left work forever stepping out of the workforce as a retiree.  As the New Year knocks on the front door, I've been keeping the focus on the present (which seems to be putting a smile on my face) because at this moment, the future looks bright, wondrous and mysterious.  Aging only proves that our lives have continued, endless twists and turns in that "Road of Life" and who knows what's next?  Retirement is making me smile but also makes me bite my lip.  I keep wondering what's going to fill my 40 hours a week now and the only answer I'm coming up with is...hunkering down this very very cold weekend.  By hunkering I mean...layered sweats, homemade soup, good music, fireplace on, reading my book, watching the Mummers Parade tomorrow, catching up on movies, bundling up the pooch and taking our walk along the Harbor, and walking around to the local neighborhood dive bar (The ShipNShore) and sit right at the harbor watching the Eagles game with a couple pints this afternoon.  All this happening on a bitter cold pretty much-deserted island down the Shore!  I'll take it. I'll think of retirement Tuesday when I would normally be heading into work.
So speaking of "bitter cold"...it's is 7° wind chill factor as the porch thermometer said 21° this morning.  The wind is howling (both of my heavy wooden rockers were actually moved from where they were by the stiff winds) NW 25-30mph.  It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with those stiff winds hanging on at 15-20mph +constant gusting.  Temps won't get any higher than 23°.  Tonight...mostly clear, low teens (12°) with an extremely dangerous wind chill of -3° as the winds continue out of the NW at 18-20mph +gusting.  Tomorrow...unfortunately it'll be a repeat of today...partly sunny, cold and blustery.  Oh...tomorrow's the "Full Moon" so you'll undoubtedly see higher tides.  Even with the harbor icing up, the tides still push that ice up and down...it's pretty cool (the ice moans as it lifts and lowers).  So I guess I'll see you all next year on the other side. Thanks for taking time to read my words!  Happy and Healthy New Year!

Last Weekend of 2017

Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood NJ.  Every time I hear "25" I don't know why but always think of the movie Jaws as Quint disputes Hooper's announcement of the size of the great white by yelling out "25" after the shark swims alongside the boat.  There's a thin blanket of snow on the island as snow continues to shower down from the overnight.  We're only supposed to get a dusting to an inch as it'll be cloudy today with on and off snow showers at least until later this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the low-mid 30s with breezes currently out of the S-SW at 15-20mph but will be switching from the W-NW at 20-25mph.  Oh...we could see peeks of sun before the sun sets. You never know...it could make for a beautiful sunset.  Tonight...mostly clear with some leftover clouds and dry as this snowy system heads on up the road.  Temps will be where they are now...mid-upper 20s with NW breezes at 30-33mph.  Tomorrow...a mix of clouds and sun and very cold...high in the low 20s.  Monday...sunny but even colder and windier.

The Big Chill Continues

Mornin'!  It's 17° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast with a Northerly breeze at 6-8mph and wind chill factor (feels like 8°).  It wasn't easy hitting that back porch with nightgown and slippers! We're staying with the Big Chill a bit longer.  Today's going to start out with cold temps and cloudy skies.  Today's temps will barely get out of the upper 20s with Ms Sun showing up later this morning / early afternoon.  Breezes will be out of the W-NW at 10-12mph.  Tonight...mostly clear, low 20s, Northerly breezes at 10-12mph.  Tomorrow...homemade soup (french onion is being tossed around since we have more onions in the root cellar than we handle) kinda day to go along with the gray skies and snow showers throughout tomorrow's raw, cold weather. Temps will be in the low-mid 30s and Westerly winds 10-20mph.  Don't get too excited about that temperature though as Sunday and Monday have low-mid 20s as a high and that's not including the wind chill.

Sunny and Very Cold

Mornin'!  It's 18° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 7° with the wind chill (winds out of the N-NW 20-25mph).  It's brutally cold out there.  I'll have to be honest...I left no time to stand and soak in the island.  I missed it if there was a nice briny fragrance of the sea as I ran to the back door almost squealing in frigid pain.  I did note the clear sky with stars and almost full moon (Full Moon kicks off the New Year) shining in the cold darkness.  It'll be a bit on the brutally cold side even though Ms Sun's checking in and shining down today and tomorrow.  Not so much on Saturday as we're still supposed to get a full day of snow showers.  Today will be sunny, in the low-mid 20s with winds continuing out of the N-NW at 20-25mph creating that wind chill.  Tonight...clear with temps back down into the upper teens with N-NW winds.

Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast with a light breeze out of the North at 10-15mph.  It'll be overcast and gray throughout the day...well at least until later this afternoon (Ms Sun may peek through) with temps hovering around where they are now.  Breezes...same.  Tonight...clear, temps in the mid 20s with breezes out of the N-NW at 23-26mph.  Tomorrow...sunnier but colder temps.  We're still seeing snow on Saturday's forecast.

Sunny with Some Clouds Thrown In

Mornin'!  It's 30° in Wildwood NJ.  Hope all my readers had a lovely Christmas Day.  Hubby and I did our little road trip Christmas eve to spend the evening along with Christmas Day at our daughter's with the family. I'm very grateful for that lovely holiday weekend. We arrived back on the island last night. As I stepped onto the back porch this morning to check the weather conditions, the first thing I noticed was the quiet.  No sounds of the ocean crashing.  No sounds of any vehicles.  No tree leaves rustling.  Just total dead silence.  There is some milky cloud cover (I could spot a few stars here and there). It's a little breezy (W-NW 18-24mph) and you can feel the winds. No more rustling leaves (this weekend's blustery weather finished off any leaves remaining on the trees). It'll be a cold and breezy day (W-NW 10-20mph) with temps in the mid-30s with a mix of clouds and sun.  Tonight...clear and cold with temps in the mid-upper 20s with a wind chill of 19° as breezes will be out of the West at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...much like today but a tad colder especially tomorrow night...12° is in the forecast.  Friday and Saturday...I'm watching what could be a snowstorm on the island.

Christmas Eve

Mornin'!  Happy Christmas Eve! It's 39° in Wildwood NJ. It's cloudy and breezy (NW 6-12mph).  We may see Ms Sun rise and shine this morning but the clouds aren't going anywhere.  It could make for a beautiful sunrise, but you know...always remains to be seen!  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with temps in the mid-40s and breezes out of the NE at 10-15mph.  Later this afternoon... cloudy and early tonight...the light showers begin as temps drop back down into the mid-30s.  Later tonight...rain into the very early hours of Christmas morning.  Once the rain passes through, the winds will be checking in.  Expect a cold, mostly sunny, blustery day for  Christmas with temps barely tapping 40°.  Merry Christmas everyone!

Gray Saturday

North Wildwood - Christmas in July Shot
Mornin'!  It's 50° in cloudy Wildwood NJ.  It's gray, foggy, misty and drippy.  I'm not sure if it's raining as there are no puddles or standing water but everything's wet and dripping. The rains are supposed to check in but this fog is holding us in its grasp at the moment.  It'll be a cloudy day (one forecast mentioned peeks of sun mid-day) with a 75% chance of rain by late afternoon.  Winds are not much at the moment (Southerly 5-10mph) but they're checking in later (by mid-day).  Temps will be in the upper 50s.  Late this afternoon into this evening expect blustery winds out of the S-SW 20-25mph.  The winds are staying checked in until late tonight (they'll switch from the W-NW) while temps drop back into the low 40s.  Looks partly sunny / partly cloudy and much colder tomorrow and even colder on Chrismas day.

A bit of Sunshine / A bit of Clouds Today

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and calm with no breezes to note.  It's aromatic with that lovely, briny, fishy fragrance outside.  It feels cold but not wintry (yet).  It'll be a somewhat pleasant day as Winter unfolds with partly sunny / partly cloudy conditions. Temps will be in the low 50s with breezes commencing from the South at 9-14mph.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers (late), temps in the upper 40s with S-SW breezes at 13-17mph. Tomorrow...showers and Sunday...sunny but blustery.

Winter Solstice

Mornin'!  Happy Winter!  Today's Winter Solstice.  It's the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year.  Beginning tomorrow the days begin to grow longer!  It's currently clear and  35° with a light Northerly breeze at 4-7mph.  It'll be a nice one today with mostly sunny skies, temps in the mid-upper 40s and breezes out of the N-NW at 9-10mph turning West by later this afternoon at 3-5mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 30s and breezes turning direction again from the S-SE at 2-4mph.  It's still looking gray and wet for the weekend with Saturday being the wetter of the two days.

Farewell to Autumn

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and breezy (NW 13-15mph).
It's one of those dark mornings that the cloud cover is insulating sounds so you're able to hear the ocean waves crashing and my home is 6+ blocks away not including our very, very long beach.  It's the last day of Autumn!  Tomorrow's the Winter Solstice.  That's the shortest day of the year and the first day of Winter.  A fun fact is the length of the days will head in the other direction and become longer once the Solstice is here.  And some other fun facts...weather sources (NOAA) is reporting that November 2017 was Earth's fifth warmest November recorded since record-keeping began in 1880...and the 3rd warmest on record says NASA.  Today will be no exception as we have more mild temps up ahead with today's being upper 40s / tapping 50°.  We'll have a mix of clouds and sun (more clouds than sun so says the majority) and winds out of the NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight...clear, low 40s with breezes out of the N-NW at 7-9mph.  Doesn't look like we'll see much of Ms Sun this upcoming holiday weekend either.  In fact...it's looking kind of wet (without the snow).

New Moon Monday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and still (no breezes to note).  That aromatic briny fragrance hits the olfactory glands the minute you walk out the door.  It'll be a keeper today with plentiful sunshine and temps tapping 50°.  Breezes will be out of the W-NW at 8-11mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low 40s and breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...a repeat of today but slightly warmer.  It's the New Moon so you'll probably see much higher than normal tides.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  Blog's a bit late due to a long winter's night, although winter's 4 days away.  It's sunny (thankful for room darkening curtains) with no breezes to note.  It's calm and cold but doesn't feel that wintry out there this morning.  No snow anywhere as we must have had a nice overnight meltdown.  It has that briny aroma outside in the stillness and there are gulls squawking happily in the neighborhood.  Nice way to start the day.  It'll be a pleasant day with a mix of sun and some clouds, some blue sky too and temps in the low-mid 40s.  Not much in breezes...NE 3-4mph.  Tonight...more clouds roll in as temps drop just a bit into the low 40s with E-SE breeze at 2-4mph.  This is the beginning of a brief warmup as temps are supposed to rise into the mid-upper 50s by Tuesday!  New Moon is tomorrow too btw.

Breezy, Partly Sunny Saturday

North Wildwood City Hall
Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, starlit and breezy (W-NW 18-22mph) with the wind chill factor at 20° (that's what it feels like out there).  We had a little snow system pass through yesterday and last evening leaving a light layer of the white stuff everywhere. Along with the chill this morning...it's a bit crisp and crunchy.  I'm hoping Ms Sun will take care of all that today as it'll be mostly sunny (some clouds in the mix) and breezy (West at 20-25mph).  Temps will be tapping the 40° mark.  Tonight...cold and clear with winds out of the W-SW turning W-NW at 20-30mph with temps in the mid-upper 30s.  Tomorrow... a mix of clouds and sun with these winds finally checking out.

Snow's-A-Coming!

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  The sky is clear and starlit with hardly any breezes to note (N-NE 3-5mph).  It'll be a sunny start to the day with clouds rolling in sometime this morning.  Those clouds will stay checked in until late tonight.  They intend to bring moisture providing a winter weather advisory from around 1p.m. until 9p.m..  The temps will be in the low 30s throughout the day.  Expect some snowfall along with a wintry mix right throughout the afternoon and evening.  Accumulation shouldn't equal a total of an inch of the wet, slushy stuff.  Winds will be out of the N-NE until this evening and switch to the W-NW all at 9-12mph.  Tonight's temps in the low 30s.  Tomorrow...clear, sunny and blustery with hopefully a meltdown to whatever covered the island.  Temps will be in the low 40s with West winds checking in at 20-25mph.  Sunday...clouds checking back in.

The Bad Hair Days Keep Comin'

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and windy (W-SW 19-22mph) with a light dusting of snow on some surfaces (vehicles, shrubs, grassy spots etc).  The streets, sidewalks, porch etc are clear.  We had late-nite/overnight snow flurry action going on.  It's cold outside but not biting freezing cold.  It's those winds...they go right through you.  It'll be cold with some sunshine (partly cloudy), temps in the low-mid 40s and unfortunately still very windy (West 30-33mph).  Tonight...clear, windy (NW 20-25mph) and temps in the low 30s.  The winds are taking a break tomorrow but will be back in full force Saturday.  No rain/snow in the forecast until Sunday.

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Mornin'!  It's a balmy 24° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling like 11° due to the wind chill as the winds have been strong and relentless since last night.  They're out of the N-NW at 25-35mph. This house is-a-rocking! The electric must have gone out as our clocks were all blinking and had to be reset first thing. It's mostly clear with some clouds in the mix.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps just about tapping 30° and the winds staying right where they are...W-NW at 30-35mph +gusting.  Tonight...clouds roll in as we may have some snow flurry action going on (40% chance) as temps stay in the upper 20s / low 30s. Breezes will simmer down a bit out of the W-SW at 15-20mph but aren't checking out until Friday and will be returning for a blustery Saturday.  Oh...there's a chance of more snow flurries on Friday night.  Old Man Winter is hovering big time.

A Lot Going On Today

Mornin'!  It's 48° in windy Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and breezy with winds out of the SW at 20-25mph.  It'll be blustery today and the clouds are staying checked in.  Winds will ramp up even more as the day and evening (and tomorrow) unfold.  Firstly...S-SW, then by mid-day...West and by this evening...W-NW all at 20-25mph +gusting.  That's nothing compared to tomorrow as winds will be even stronger as winter air is headed this way.  For today...somewhat mild temps as we could see the thermometer tapping 50° (expect a chill factor though due to the winds) with mostly cloudy conditions with a possibility of peeks of sun earlier in the day and showers by the end of the day.  Tonight...more cloud cover with temps in the upper 20s / low 30s and stiff winds making for a nasty wind chill.  Tomorrow as I said will be another windy day but much colder with a chance of snow showers.  Winter's-a-knocking (9 more days)!

Mostly Sunny Monday

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under hazy, somewhat cloudy skies.  No stars visible and you can barely see the moon up there this drippy morning.  As I stood outside on the back porch taking in the weather, the usually quiet darkness is being controlled by the sound of the island's meltdown of snow.  Anything that held this weekend's snowfall that has yet to be removed is now melting.  The sounds of dripping is almost deafening.  There barely a breeze (NW 2-4mph).  The meltdown will continue today as Ms Sun crosses the horizon in just over an hour and begins to warm things up.  We'll be tapping that 40° mark again.  We'll have some periodic cloud cover as breezes will be out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...clear with S-SW breezes at 5-10mph and temps back down into the upper 30s.  Tomorrow...cloudy and very windy (cold, blustery, bad-hair day).  10 days until Winter!

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly clear with stars and the moon shining down around what clouds are still up there.  It's breezy...W-NW 15-20mph making it feel like 24°.  We had a bit of a wet, wintry day yesterday and even with that white stuff removed from some of the surfaces...porch steps, car, etc., it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas as it's still white outside on most of the surfaces.  I'm expecting that to change today as Ms Sun will be checking it and I'm sure will provide a meltdown.  It'll be sunny today with temps just about tapping 40° with blustery breezes out of the W-NW at 22-26mph.  Tonight...still breezy from the W-SW at 18-22mph with clear skies and temps in the mid-upper 30s.  Tomorrow...a repeat of today.

Snowy Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 34° in snowy Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and breezy with North winds at 15-20mph and a light wintry mix coming down (I can hear the icy pellets hitting the upstairs skylight and some of my windows) as all the surfaces other than the streets are covered in the white stuff.  The streets are wet and icy looking but they're not...the ground surface is still on the warm side providing instant meltdown when the wet/white/icy stuff hits.   I'd say about 3"  of heavy white snow fell throughout last evening but the sidewalks and streets are clear and visible.  The lawns, trees, bushes, outdoor furniture, cars, railings, etc etc are covered in white though and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  It'll stay like that all day into tonight with gray, cold, snowy conditions.  Temps will hover around where they are now as N-NE winds will be 16-22mph.  Tomorrow...this cold, wet, nasty stuff will probably still be coming down in the early morning but Ms Sun's waiting to melt things down and shine most of the day.  Made 5 different batches of cookie dough last night all waiting to be baked as it's a great day for it (not to mention...this weekend's homemade soup is escarole (Italian wedding).  Last weekend's was beef barley.  Soup season's been excellent this year down the shore.

Winter's About To Pay A Visit to the East Coast

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's breezy (NW at 15-20mph) and hazy as the moon and stars are barely visible through the milky cloud cover.  It's brisk out there this morning as the beginning of our first real preview of winter weather is about to occur.  It'll be mostly cloudy and cold today (there's a possibility of Ms Sun peeking through this morning) with breezes out of the W-NW at 7-10mph but the temps are going to drop (low-mid 30s).  By late this afternoon...50% chance of rain showers and by later tonight...Snow (yes..."snow"...I've said it) Showers.  There's a snowstorm out there with our coast in its sights! Tomorrow...snow all day into the overnight with minor accumulation although 2 forecasts reported 3-5"!  Personally, the ocean's still warm enough to keep the island insulated. The ground surface is warmer than the mainland and I think we'll see no more than a dusting to an inch (I'm saying that with my fingers crossed). Sunday...Ms Sun's back after a gray / snow flurry start but so are the cold, blustery winds - W-NW at 25-30mph.  13 days until the Winter Solstice, but we'll certainly have a sneak preview this weekend beginning tonight that's for sure!  I'm going with a fresh pot of homemade soup (Italian wedding) and Christmas cookie baking tomorrow...as you couldn't have more perfect weather!

Mostly Gray Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and W-NW breezes 15-20mph are wifting (wafting) over the island and making it feel like 38°.  It's feeling cold with a little taste of winter out there.  It'll be mostly cloudy again today with temps in the mid-upper 40s and breezes out of the N-NW at 17-20mph.  There should be some peeks of sun too but don't count on her to warm your bones.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with breezes out of the W-SW at 15-20mph and temps in the upper 30s / low 40s.  Tomorrow's going to feel even colder with the possibility of rain not to mention those winds on tap.  Speaking of "mention" this weekend's forecast...Saturday...cold, wet and a 40% chance of the "S" word as Sunday will be cold with a high of 38° as Ms Sun will be checking back in.

Cold Front is Pushing In

Cape May NJ
Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly and still windy as hell (NW @ 25-35mph).  The winds have been howling all night long. The rains are light and even more like mist but we're wet and cloud covered and will stay that way until at least this afternoon.  We'll be staying much like yesterday and becoming colder...another one of those mostly gray, raw, breezy, damp days.  The rain will actually be done by this morning but the winds and mist will probably hang out throughout the day into tonight. Oh...the temps will be dropping into the low-mid 40s today.  I plan on dressing warmer because unlike yesterday it'll be feeling wintry (I didn't even consider my winter jacket yesterday).  By the way...a couple forecast did mention peeks of sun by this afternoon.  Tonight...mostly cloudy and less windy (Westerly 10-12mph) with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s.  Tomorrow...mostly sunny.  The Weekend...ugh...I hate to say it but that "S" word is still in the forecast.

Gray Day

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover creating some amazing sounds of the ocean waves crashing the shore.  It's an awesome sound especially when you live 6+ blocks away from the beach and don't get to hear it all the time.  There's plenty of winds out of the South at 15-20mph too.  It'll be a gray day with 40% chance of rain and winds blowing across the island out of the South at 25-35mph right through until tomorrow.  Temps may just be tapping 60° (no typo) today and mid-50s tonight.  Winds will be out of the S-SW tonight at 20-30mph.  Tomorrow...still a bit cloudy, colder with peeks of sunshine.  I'm afraid we probably won't see Ms Sun today and if we do it'll probably only be for a peek or two.

Sunny Monday

The Mall - Cape May NJ
Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, still (no breezes to note) and incredibly bright with that fabulous super Moon.  Everything's frosty and glistening in the brightly lit morning pre-dawn. Somehow it's got "winter solstice" written all over it.  It's going to be another "not so wintry" day as Ms Sun's waiting for her turn for center stage as she'll be rising in just over an hour and begin to warm things up a bit.  Expect plenty of sunshine in the first part of the day with clouds filtering in the second part. Temps will be tapping that 50° mark again.  Breezes will commence first from the E-NE at 6-9mph; then SE around 5-10mph by this afternoon.  Temps will drop down tonight to the low-mid 40s with breezes out of the S-SE at 9-13mph.  As for tomorrow...rain is due in.  And, perhaps some of Wednesday.  Oh...the "S" word is in this week's forecast towards the weekend.
Just saying.

Beginning of the Perigee

(Photo from Pinterest - taken by "Dwight")
Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  It's cloudy with no breezes to note.  The horizon is beginning to brighten with some of those beautiful Fall colors on those gray clouds. Ms Sun's actually rising as I type.  Not sure how much we'll see of her.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with plenty of cloud cover as well as periods of sunshine peeking through and temps tapping the 50s with breezes out of the N-NW at 3-5mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low-mid 40s and light, variable breezes out of the North.  Tonight is the beginning of the Special Supermoon Trilogy.  Tonight, January 1st and January 31st all will have a Full Super Moon.  The moon is at its fullest and closest point of its orbit around the earth (perigee).  It'll be especially full and orange and spectacular looking on the moonrise...14% bigger and 30% brighter to be exact.

Tranquil First Saturday in December

Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to our son...this one's for you!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still with no breezes to note. There's frost on all the surfaces as the stars and moon shine down.  Feels like a crisp Winter's morn even though it's still Autumn.  It'll feel cool today as Ms Sun will only be checked in the earlier part of the day as we'll see increasing clouds as the day unfolds.  By this afternoon it'll be cloudy.  Today's temps will barely tap 50° and by late tonight be where they are now.  Breezes will be light all day and evening and will commence from the NE at 3-5mph; switch from the SE at 5-7mph and by tonight come from the South at 5-7mph.  Tomorrow looks much like today but one forecast did mention early morning sprinkles before Ms Sun and the Full Moon check in.

Welcome December!

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy December!  Hopefully, it'll be a month that's as kind to us as November.  You just never know especially when the first day of Winter (the Winter Solstice) is just a measly 20 days away.  We've had both mild as well as bitterly cold Decembers as it all remains to be seen.  But today when I stepped on the porch, it felt cold as those blustery winds (N-NW 15-20mph) went right through me as I grasped the collar of my bathrobe around my neck.  We did have showers overnight and those rain clouds are out of here as that clear, autumn crispness and sky full of stars and of course that nearly full moon was what I noticed next.  The actual Full Moon is Sunday.  It'll be another pleasant day this first day of December with plentiful sunshine, temps in the low 50s and breezes out of the N-NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...clear, temps in the mid-upper 40s with breezes out of the North at 8-10mph.  As for the weekend...much like today but just a tad cooler.  Ms Sun will be shining at least until next Tuesday.  As for that earthquake yesterday afternoon...my story is I was home using the upstairs bathroom when out of the blue things in the bathroom began to shake and quiver.  Next to my bathtub, I have a table with a ceramic planter holding a small palm tree (3') and next to that table stands an old boat oar.  All three (table, ceramic plant w/palm and oar) began moving and shaking.  My first thought was "earthquake" and ran downstairs out the back door and yelled out to my husband who was in the backyard "Did you just feel an earthquake?"  He did not and suggested I check out the computer (social media) or TV for any news and sure enough...we had a 4.4 earthquake in Dover, DE which was felt here.  The excitement just never ends!
