Partly Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 29° this morning in the Woods.  The sky is clear and brightening as I type.  When I first woke and went on the back porch to check out the weather conditions, the moon and stars were shining brightly overhead with barely a breeze.  Although at the moment looking east, the horizon's looking full of thick clouds as the morning sky around them has begun to turn shades of golds, yellows and ambers.  No doubt that Ms Sun's will be shining on the island soon.  Not sure for how long as all forecasts I've checked say partly sunny to mostly cloudy day today with temps in the low-mid 40s.  Winds are currently light coming out of the NE and will shift from the East and again from the SE by tonight all at 9-12mph.  Guess it's a decent day to take Christmas decoration inventory.  I did a little of that myself yesterday.

The Day Retailers use Black Ink to record profits!

Mornin'!  It's 30° in Wildwood.  It's clear, crisp, quiet and still as well as starlit.  No breezes thankfully to write about.  It'll be cold and clear and sunny today as temps just about tap the 40° mark.  Breezes will wift (I mean waft) in later from the N-NE at 7-10mph.  The weekend's looking 50-50 as we'll see sun and showers (overnight Saturday) as temps stay around the 40s.  Today looks like a perfect day to be in a Mall.  Not!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mornin'!  Happy Thanksgiving!  As usual, I'm thankful for my life and the gifts bestowed me...my very first grandbaby, wonderful husband, awesome family and friends and recent good health reports are my thankful prayer today and everyday.  It's 32° in Wildwood.  Ms. Sun's up and shining brightly.  The winds are freight-train howling all around us at 25+mph from the NW.  It'll be clear and sunny all day with winds staying checked in from the NW but later this afternoon will be toned down a bit at 15-17mph.  Temps will barely hit the mid-30s as it'll feel icy with a chill factor.  All the water along the street curbs is frozen this morning.  A true sign of winter.  The Harbor is still running freely with no signs of ice there yet.  A lot of turkeys are no longer running freely.  Bon Apetit!

Happy Hanukkah!

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood.  Yeah...you read that right.  It'll barely be tapping 60° today too.  However, it's cloudy and windy (S-SW) and oh what a night (in the words of Frankie Valli)!  We had the intense rains and winds happening big time all night long.  But, everything seems to be intact.  The willow is practically naked but still standing.  It's still lightly raining and all forecasts are pointing to periods of rain throughout the afternoon/early evening. This Nor'easter will be pretty much out of here taking the warmer temps (dropping in the 40s) and leaving its winds out of the W-NW at 30-40mph +gusting.  Surf's up with 10-12' waves.  Tonight the temps will drop into the 30s as those intense winds may be blowing out the first Menorah candle for the start of Hanukkah at sundown.  The Sun's going to check in for Thanksgiving tomorrow and stay for a few days.  First time since 1888 that these two holidays overlapped!

It's Wellie Time!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood this early morn.  It's clear with moon and stars shining brightly.  There's a light breeze from the South (8mph).  Everything's going to change though as the day moves along.  Ok...first up...we're preparing for a Nor'easter as we're in the direct path of a huge coastal storm that's impacting the East coast.  It'll begin today with partly sunny, mild conditions as the clouds roll in this morning and the temperature rises (thankfully) to the low-mid 50's.  Breezes will switch up from the South to the SE by late afternoon bringing the Winds from SE at 25-30mph with 40+mph gusts.  The rains are expected around this time too.  The winds and rains will continue all night (heavy at times) as well as right into tomorrow as some forecasts are saying 2" are expected.  By the way...11-12' waves are expected tomorrow.  And, the Tides will be high in the mid-afternoon.  Expect lots of flooding.  Guess it's time for the Wellies!

Bundle up!

Mornin'!  It's 26° this crisp, breezy, starlit morn.  Another day with that bite in the wintry air.  Looks like the horizon is beginning to lighten as Ms. Sun's due up in less than an hour.  There are clouds along the horizon so it could be obscured initially but then rise and shine in the sky.  The clouds do roll in today making it a partly sunny/partly cloudy day.  Temps should just be tapping the 40° mark.  And the breezes (currently out of the NW will shift from the SW by this afternoon) will be evident all day at 18-20mph and calming down by later this afternoon at 10-12mph.  Even with the icy blast yesterday, our little grandson Thomas took the cold and his baptismal ceremony and the celebration after perfectly in his stride.  Just perfection in every way!

Winter's checked in!

Mornin'!  It's 28° in balmy Wildwood!  We've got breezes this morning big time...out of the NW at 35-40mph bringing Winter today.  Chill factor...in the teens.  It'll be partly cloudy with peeks of sun and windy all day providing us our first real Winter blast.  Temps will just about tap the 30° mark.  Tomorrow...a little sunnier with less wind but still cold.  It's officially 4 weeks until Winter, but it's here...trust me it's here in Wildwood.

Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 45° this sunny Saturday.  Slept in a bit, brewed a pot of coffee and got right into those little pumpkins on the deck.  Cut, peeled and shredded them to try out a pumpkin bread recipe.  The warm house has a lovely, spicy aroma as the oven's doing its job.  It's a quiet, bright blue-sky kind of morning down the shore.  Very light breezes which will kick up later from the NW at 18-23mph.  Temps will just about tap the 50° mark and tonight...just about tap the 30° mark.  It'll be mostly sunny all day as well.  Tomorrow...horse of a different color as the 30° temps along with 30-38mph winds will feel like 20°.  We're heading for a true winter blast tomorrow.  Traveling to the Philly area for our baby grandson's Baptism tomorrow and I'm thinking even colder there as this big ol' ocean does keep the island a bit warmer since it's around that 50° mark.  Glad I found those thermals!

TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's a balmy 52° this dark, cloudy morning.  Sounds of the surf can be heard crashing.  It does that when the clouds are insulating the island.  It feels warmer outside than inside the house this morning for some reason.  Sunrise is due in an hour and I'm not too sure how much we'll see with all these clouds.  It'll be mostly cloudy as showers are heading in our direction by tonight.  We just may see a peek or two of sun this morning/early afternoon.   Temps will stay around the mid-upper 50s (maybe tapping 60°) with breezes coming out of the W-SW at 17-25mph.  By the way, the overnight rains will still be here in the morning so prepare to pull the comforter up as you stay cozy and sleep in.  I'm not even gonna touch on Sunday.

Winter's tapping a little harder

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood.  Winter's fast approaching as those morning "bites" in the air are the first thing that you feel when stepping on the back porch for a thermometer check.  It's clear, quiet and no breezes to report.  That moon is still shining brightly even though it's waning (shrinking).  It'll be pretty much a repeat of yesterday as the sun will be trying to shine through those somewhat thick wispy clouds as we'll see a mix of sun and clouds today.  Temps will climb back into the 50s probably reaching the mid-50s.  Winds will be light and out of the E-SE initially then shift to the East at 10-12 mph.  All forecasters are predicting a serious cold front coming in on Sunday...we're talking highs in the 20s.  Sounds like Winter will have approached!  Okay now, where did I put my thermal undies?

Winter's knocking

Sean McDermott's  (NW Rec Dept) Minotaur Rocket Shot!
Mornin'!  It's 35° this very cold start to the day.  Wildwood's got a wintry bite in the air.  It's clear and starlit with the sunrise due up in about an hour.  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun today as temps crawl back up to just about the 50° mark.  Winds will be out of the NE at 10-15mph.  Spent quite awhile on the dark, cold beach last night waiting for the Nasa Minotaur Orbitor Launch.  It was a tad too cold to hang around.  I needed a nice roaring bonfire (next one is the Elks bonfire on 12/7) to ride that wait out.  But, I did get to see the launch within an hour of arriving home.  What an incredible thing to see!

Chill Factors today

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  There's a NW wind barreling down on the island and giving us a chill factor...feels like 36° as it's currently howling over the us freaking out the pup a bit this early morn.  He went to step over the back door threshold to go out and do his duty and immediately stepped back and scampered into the direction of the kitchen when he heard the loud howling of the winds.  The very bright moon and starlit sky is still illuminating everything outside as well as some of the still dark rooms of the house.  It'll be daybreak within the hour as a day of sunshine is on the menu with brilliant blue, cloudless skies.  The winds remain checked in from the N-NW at 25-30mph and will calm down just a bit by mid-afternoon and ramp up again tonight.  Chill factors will stay in place as the temperature is supposed to tap the 50s.  Maybe not so much if sitting in a car parked by the beach as the sun warms the car.  It's my intention today as that's my lunch hour ritual.

Nice Day Up Ahead Today

Mornin'!  It's 52° with light rain showers falling at the moment.  We had extremely heavy rain falling a couple hours ago.  But, forecasts are saying by 8a.m. all this rain will be out of here.   The sun's supposed to shine (heard that one before) as clouds move out and temps reach the low 60's.  The breezes are out of the West today at 20-25mph.  So, expect some of these gray drearies to be replaced by blue skies and sunshine today with mild temps.  I'm cautiously expecting a nice one today!

Mother Nature won this hand

Mornin'!  It's 51° with some heavy fog covering the island.  Love it!  Everything's dripping wet and the aroma of the sea and sounds of the surf hits your senses immediately when you open the backdoor.  It's very still as the morning unfolds.  So much for sunshine or moonshine (except for any cocktails sipped) this weekend as the clouds have checked in and haven't budged.  No blue skies, sunrises or sunsets and no Full moonrise or meteor showers.  Just a blah weekend thanks to cloud cover as it could have been spectacular.  Oh well...Mother Nature always has the trump card.  Today the clouds continue to stick around.  The Fog gives the island a San Francisco and London ambiance.  We may see patches of sun but they'll be few and far between as forecasters say it'll be mostly cloudy.  10% chance of rains showers today and 60% chance tonight.  Temps will be mild going into the mid-60's.  Breezes will be light from the SE-S at 7-10mph and tonight ramping up a bit at 17-20mph.

Full "Beaver" Moon and Leonid Meteor Shower this weekend

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood.  The sun's up but not shining as the cloud cover's pretty thick due to the rains.  It rained overnight and early this morning pretty hard. We currently have light showers.  The sky is brightening though.  Forecasters are saying a mix of clouds and sun today with a 20% chance of light showers off and on today.  Breezes are from the E-NE at 6-8mph.  Temps will just about tap 60° as it'll be on the mild side down the Shore.  A few things to note...today is the Full Beaver Moon so tides will be higher and it's the Leonid Meteor Shower show.  And, if the clouds cooperate, the East coast should see a terrific Meteor shower this weekend.  The Full Moon could provide a big, bright obstacle for viewing due to its brightness and size, but the meteors will be falling and should be visible from the midnight hour on to early morning. Happy viewing!  Happy Weekend!

Clear Now; Cloudy Later

Mornin'!  It's 44° under clear, starlit skies in Wildwood.  Not much of a breeze going on.  It'll be a fairly decent day down the shore.  Clouds are in the mix today as temps climb back up into the mid-upper 50s.  Breezes will commence from the SW at 12-15mph.  Tonight...50% chance of showers as today's clouds will increase throughout the afternoon and evening.  Weekend's looking "iffy" as we may be pulling that comforter up to our chin while listening to the pitter-patter of rain showers in the early morning.  It's not supposed to be a total washout though.  Sunday...looking like more clouds and less rain.  Full "Beaver" Moon tomorrow, but now I'm wondering if we'll even catch a glimpse.  One can only hope!

Warming Trend about to check in!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's quiet with not much in the line of a breeze.  It's clear with not much in the line of cloud cover.  It's brisk and wintry as I think I saw frost on the pumpkins again this morning.  There's a warming trend headed in the direction of our island.  The temps are heading into the mid-upper 50's with mostly sunny skies as the clouds will filter in a bit today.  The winds will be in the mix too as they'll pick up and be out of the W-SW at 18-21mph.  The Moon's been shining brightly and preparing us for it's Full stage this weekend (Saturday's the Full Moon).

Chill Hump

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood.  There's frost on the pumpkins this Hump Day! It's windy and there's a chill factor!  Jeez...we're in it...winter that is as there's a crisp bite in the air.  You know the kind I'm talking about...the kind of cold that fill your nostrils with winter, frosty air.  It's the first day it truly feels like a freezing cold winter's morn.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this as I'm not sure why I'm not grasping this season change.  I've got a friggin' shawl over my shoulders as I type.  I can see outside my window and the horizon's lightening as sunrise is due within the hour.  The sky will be blue with lots of sun today as temps tap the 40's!  Winds will continue to provide a chill factor as they'll be out of the N-NW at 20-25mph w/gusting.  Forecasts are saying sun, less wind and higher temps (back into the 60s) as we head into the weekend thank goodness.

Wintry Mix???

Mornin'!  It's 41° under dark, cloudy skies.  Not much in breezes out there.  Daybreak's within the hour.  That cold front that everyone's talking about hasn't arrived yet, but after checking the live Doppler...it's looming around the corner.  It'll be bringing colder temps and moisture and of course winds from the North at 25-30mph +gusting.  There's a 60% chance of moisture likely...rain and/or snow showers with no accumulation expected.  Temps will go down into the mid-upper 30's for the day.  It's all sounding cold, wet and raw so I'm leaning towards an extra warm sweater and socks and of course boots (my flip flops are still next to my bed).  Jeez...winter's knocking at the front door today and I'm not completely sure I'm ready as one part of me shivers with dreaded anticipation and the other part says "bring it" so we can get this upcoming winter season (39 days away) over with.  Seems the older I get the more I'm not a fan of winter.

Happy Veteran's Day!

Hubby is 2nd Row from Bottom 2nd from Right
Mornin'!  Happy Veteran's Day!  Thank you to all who have served providing us our freedom.  It's 42° in sunny Wildwood.  Slept in a bit this holiday morning as Ms. Sun is doing her thing as she's crossed the horizon shining down on the island.  The sky is blue and there are no breezes.  It's brisk and quiet.  It'll be a nice one as the temps head back into the lo-mid 50s while the breezes will stay at 10-12mph coming from the W-NW.  By tonight though...SW 25-30mph +gusting as a cold front's due in during the overnight...30s (glad I dug out the winter wear this weekend)!  As for this so called upcoming Nor'easter I've been checking on, it's looking like it's heading this way on the overnight tonight as well.  It should be a rain event for the most part with snow showers thrown in the mix as there's a good chance of precipitation with strong winds and low temps.  After that...smooth sailing as the mild Autumn weather is back on the forecast through next weekend.  We're talking sunny conditions and back into the 60s.

Sunny and Blustery

Mornin'!  It's 48° this sunny Sunday.  It's very still and quiet as the bluster's due in any moment.  It'll be clear and sunny with somewhat mild temps (high 50s/tapping60s) today.  It's the gusty winds that will be kicking this one up a notch.  They'll begin from the West and shift from the W-NW at 30-35mph w/gusting of 40mph.  I guess "hold on to your hats" today.  Could be an interesting day for football as field goals could be a tad compromised with Mother Nature's hand thrown in the mix.  As for this "S" event accompanying the Nor'easter that the European Models were calling for this upcoming week, it's looking like a rain event for Tuesday.  It could have some "Snow Showers" in the mix as it'll be a cold one and that's not a frosty mug on tap.

Sunny and Chilly Saturday!

Freddy's new winter coat
Mornin'!  It's 40° this crisp, clear, quiet Saturday morn.  The sun's up as it actually woke me peeking through the closed room darkening drapery while sleeping in a bit; very cozy though. There are no breezes to write about.  It's very quiet as the island has become a sleepy town once again.  It'll be a nice autumn day as well as nice weekend down the Shore.  Sun's forecasted with chilly temps in the high 40s and possibly tapping the 50° mark.  Winds will be initially from the West at 5-7mph but by dinner time, they will have ramped up from the SW at 25-30mph. This long holiday weekend will be pretty much have the same forecast each day.  As for next Wednesday...this Nor'easter is still being forecasted as a rain event by local and national weather service reports.  I'll continue to watch with fingers crossed.  I'm going with a jacket or coat today!

Chill's back!

Mornin'!  It's 43° in the Woods!  Add to that blustery winds from the NW at 25-30 (+gusting) and you have a slap in the face wake up call this morning...brrrr.  The sky is clear and lightening welcome daybreak as I type.  Ms. Sun should be passing the horizon in just about a half hour.  She'll stay checked in today too as the clouds will be few and far between as those NW winds will unfortunately stick around and provide lots of bad hair-dos as they won't settle down until dinner time.  Temps will barely tap the 50s as high 40s look to be the main number in today's forecast.  The weekend's looking sunny with a temperatures on the warmer (60s) side.  Get this...there's a potential for a Nor'easter and I'm talking the "S" word for the middle of next week.  Remember Sandy?  Duh!  Remember the USA weather projections were predicting a "miss" of that ol' Superstorm and it would barely skirt our coasts?  On the other hand, Great Britain (European) forecasts were predicting a direct hit on our coasts.  Well, guess what?  The European forecasts are currently saying that this upcoming Nor'easter were looking down the barrel at is going to hit our coast and give us 6" of the white stuff (not ready to type the "S" word just yet) next week.  So, you've been warned; enough said for now.  I will continue to keep up on that forecast.  Today, I'd pack the hairspray and an extra sweater, hoodie or jacket.

Thursday Rain

Mornin'!  It's 60° this tranquil, rainy, fragrant, dark morning on the island.  It's not pouring...just a light steady shower.  The bedroom windows were opened slightly and there's something cozy and comforting about the sound of a light rain coming down.  Add to that the soft sounds of the ocean's roar and aroma seeping into the dark room and not much can top that.  Oh well...so much for that lovely, peaceful moment as the daily tasks at hand are fast approaching.  It'll be a rainy Thursday at least until later this afternoon.  The winds (once they begin) will come from the SW and shift from the NW at 20-25mph +gusting bringing with it a cold front and much chillier temps (40s) for this evening and not much higher than 50° for tomorrow.  So far, the weekend's looking sunny and dry and a wee bit on the chilly side.

Mornin'!  It's 55° this lovely, quiet sunny morn in Wildwood. Nice day to be off from work and visit the wall. Breezes are light and will stay that way all day.  They're off the ocean (easterly) at 9-11mph.  It'll be blue sky and sunny (somewhat filtered) throughout the day as the light cloud cover will be checked in here and there.  There's a "new moon" so watch for tidal flooding.  It can be worse than a full moon sometimes.  Note the high tides and don't drive through the flooded streets if you can help it.  It'll stay in the mid-upper 50's all day into this evening.  Looks like a keeper and a lovely day to get out and Vote!!!

Cold start to the week

Mornin'!  It's...get this...36° in Wildwood!  "Brrrrr" is my take on this cold, breezy Monday and "thankful" that I took the rest of my outdoor plants inside this weekend.  Those tropical plants (jasmine, lemon, palm, croton, cane etc) are all inhabiting my home now!  It'll be a chilly one on the island today as temps will climb up into the mid-upper 40's but the winds will hang around from the N-NE at 18-20mph +gusting throughout this clear, sunny Monday.  Wish I was packing for Key West instead of checking out a week ago today!

Daylight Savings Time is Now in Effect!

Mornin'!  It's officially "daylight savings time" as the clocks should have been turned back an hour before turning in.  It's 51 breezy degrees in WW.  The sun's just about over the horizon.  It's looking like a perfectly brisk autumn day up ahead.  The sun will be partly shining throughout the day as winds continue to wift (I mean "waft") in from the N-NW at 15-20mph.  Temps will stick around the low-50's.  Sadly, it'll be dark an hour earlier today.  49 days until the days begin to grow longer as it's the winter solstice then.

Happy November!

Mornin'!  Happy November!  It's 63° in Wildwood under cloudy skies and extremely windy conditions.  No rain at the moment but it's in today's forecast as chance of showers is expected through tonight.  Temps will be in the high 60's.  The winds will be checked in throughout the day as well (out of the S-SW at 25-30mph with 40mph gusts).  We're talking keep the boat docked at the marina not to mention an extremely bad hair day!  The weekend's looking "eh" as the winds will settle down and temps remain in the mid-upper 60's with a touch of sun for Saturday but a chill will arrive with clouds and more breezes by Sunday.  Speaking of the weekend...it's the start of Daylight Savings Time...not a fan!
