Boatloads of Sunshine today!

Mornin'! It's a joy to be writing about another lovely day's weather as it'll be a perfect Spring day this last day in April. Sun's shining brightly in Wildwood as temps are currently 52° and will rise to the mid-upper 60's by this afternoon. There's not much of a breeze to report now, but the winds will come from the NW at 15mph a bit later. There will be boatloads of sun all day today as sunny skies are sticking around right through the entire weekend. (It's looking likely that tomorrow's breezes will be offshore and cooler.) Today's tides: High: 7:18p.m.; Low:12:44p.m.; Ocean temp:60°. Before you know it, we'll be dippin' in that badboy! 51 days until Summer.

Sun's Shining Again!

Mornin'! It's 57° in Wildwood this bright, sunny, calm (winds WSW at 4mph), beautiful day for a Wedding! Congrats to the Royal couple...Prince William and Princess Catherine! Wildwood's going to see a few days of beautiful Spring weather beginning today. Temps will rise into the upper 60's and may even get to the 70° mark. The brilliant blue skies will have a shift in the winds coming later from the West at 10-20mph bringing afternoon cumulus clouds; could make for a beautiful Sunset (7:49p.m.). There's many, many great sunset spots in the Wildwood area. But, a couple of my favorites is Cape May Point at the sunken ship and of course Sunset Lake in Wildwood Crest. More recently observing the construction of a new Bar/Restaurant called Coconut Cove at 1st and Maryland Avenues...the sunset there...awesome. Tomorrow and Sunday looks like it could be much of the same. Today's tides: High tide:6:40p.m.; Low tide: 12:07p.m.; Ocean Temp:56°. 52 days until Summer!

Thursday Mix

Mornin'! It's 60° in WW this morning. Not much of a sunrise again as Heavy Fog is the man of the hour. We've been in the Soup quite a bit as of late. It's all good. For some reason this weather is hard to dislike. Humidity's high...96%. The Fog will give way to possible clearing and spots of sun later. Clearing may give way to more clouds and thunderstorms arriving early to mid-afternoon today which could be potentially severe. We could get some damaging winds with the storm...over 30mph. Southerly winds are out there now at 15-20mph. Those winds + salty wet fog = filthy storm windows! High tide:5:29p.m.; Low tide:11:09a.m.; Ocean temp: 55°; 53 days until Summer! Had my knee post-op check up and I'm told that it's looking like there's a real good chance I could be dancing by Memorial Weekend!

Repeat Wednesday

Mornin'! Today's going to be a repeat of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The weather's been just lovely here at the Shore. Wildwood's temp is currently 59° with a breeze out of the SSE at 14mph. Sun's up and burning off the haze, fog and clouds. The sun will hang around again too through some more hazy and foggy conditions. The humidity is 93%. Pollen's bad. Allergies are bad. Temps will only be in ithe mid-upper 60's unlike the mainlaind as once again they'll be in the 80's. The ocean's insulated us and keeping the island cooled down with fog early and late in the day. It's the foggy season and I truly enjoy it (as does my former San Franciscan sister); there's something mysterious and fascinating about it. Later, the breezes will pick up out of the SW at 20-25 mph with some gusts. High tide: 4:44p.m.; Low tide: 10:31a.m.; Ocean temp: 55°; 54 days until Summer! Today is the ol' knee's "post-op" check up! Tomorrow the rains return.

Humid Tuesday

Mornin'! It's currently 59° in Wildwood. It's the 1st forecast this year that "humidity" was mentioned in my Blog. It's going to be in the low-mid 60's today with sun and some humidity. The mainland will experience much warmer temps and humid conditions, as the island will have the SW breezes at 15-20mph making us feel much more comfortable. Sounds like a lovely day at the Shore. Tonight, the skies will have more cloud cover than today which could bring along a mini-shower or two...unlikely though...just saying. Sounds like a great day to sit in the backyard with a good read and a leg up as this blogger's still nursing a repaired knee. High tide: 3:53p.m.; Low tide: 9:35p.m.; Ocean temp: 54° and 55 days until Summer!

Sunny Monday

Mornin'! It's 57° and sunny with just a slight breeze (2mph) in WW this beautiful morning. The seagulls are certainly happy as they express their joy by laughing as loud as possible waking Wildwood. It feels invigorating, yet mild outside as the overnight rains soaked and washed the island, and the sun now dries and warms us. Just lovely. It'll be mostly sunny today with temps going into the high 60's/low 70's as an isolated thunderstorm is a possibility later (30% chance) with winds coming later from the SSE at 14mph. High tide:4:23p.m.; Low tide: 9:11a.m.; Ocean temp: 54° and just 56 days until Summer!

Happy Easter!

Mornin'! It's a beauty this morning. As the norm for Easter Sunday...the sun's shining and welcoming the day. It's 59° in Wildwood with a very slight morning breeze coming from the SW at 5-9mph. It's going to reach the 70's today on the island and be a beautiful day to celebrate the holiday. Later though...things could change as winds will shift a bit and a chance thunderstorms are predicted later this afternoon. High tide: 7:53a.m.; Low tide: 1:48p.m.; Ocean temp: 52°. Happy Easter everyone! Happy Spring! 57 days until Summer!

Raw and Rainy Saturday

Mornin'! It's 52° this morning as the rains come down and the winds blow making it a "sleep in" kind of day. It's gonna rain all morning and possibly off and on (although we may see periods of sun along with a chance of thunderstorms) for the rest of the day. Temps will just about hit 60° and will most likely stay in the 50's. Winds are currently out of the SE at 17-20mph and will shift later from the SSE at 20-30mph. Just a raw and rainy day. Good day to get out the Easter baskets and dye the eggs. High tide: 1:15p.m.; Low tide: 7:02p.m.; Ocean temp: 49°.

Good Friday

Mornin'! It's currently 46° in Wildwood. Today begins with sun, cooler temps (mid-upper 50's), and breezes from the NE at 10-15mph. Clouds, stiffer breezes and rain is entering the scene later...late morning/early afternoon...who knows? Rains will continue overnight into tomorrow. Saturday's not looking too good although warmer and Sunday's looking like a decent day with even warmer temps and sun. High tide: 12:15p.m.; Low tide: 6:03p.m.; Ocean temp: 50°. As for the knee surgery...a success I'm happy to report. Pain meds and thoughts of once again dancing at the Wildwood Festivals this summer (60 more days!) is seeing me through the recuperation period!

A Pleasant Thursday

Mornin'! If the birds chirping outside right now are any indication of how nice this day is going to be...then we're heading for a beauty! The birds are chirping like never before this year. Spring is in the air! It's 59° as I blog away this pleasant morning. Sun's just about to appear over the horizon as dawn is fast approaching. Lots of sun all day today as temps rise to the mid-upper 60's. Breezes out of the NW later at 15-20mph. High tide: 11:19a.m.; Low tide:5:07p.m.; Ocean temp: 49°. The day has come...in less than an hour I'll be in the O.R.! More to come...

Hump Day Mix

Mornin'! It's 54° in Wildwood as dawn approaches (half hour or so). The sky is beginning to lighten and looks overcast as it appears as though the fog could be rolling in. The horizon doesn't have the colorful, pastel look as morning arrives; that's how I see it anyway. The ocean's roar is very loud as I always stand outside and give a personal check on the conditions out there before blogging and I'm 6 blocks away. The Mainland will see a very warm Spring day...not so here. The cool ocean will keep the island cool as temps will remain pretty much the same as they have been...in the 60° zone...closer to the high 60's today though. Sun will be shining most of the day until late this afternoon/early evening when things "may" switch to a possibility of rain and/or thunderstorms. Forecasters are saying it's a "possibility" so WW may get passed over just like yesterday. It's currently "still" with not much of a breeze out of the ENE at 5-10mph. Later, those winds will shift from the SSW at 20-30mph. Tides: high:10:26a.m.; low:4:15p.m.; ocean temp: 49°; 62 days until Summer! One day until knee surgery. I blogged way back in the beginning of February that I began Zumba classes and hurt my knee...you know...raise and rest the leg with ice and be careful. Well, after 2 months of dealing with left knee issues (tests, injections, using a cane etc.)...surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I'll be hobbling around getting ready to leave for torn meniscus surgery right about this time tomorrow morning. I'll also be hobbling afterward to get to this computer to continue blogging the weather; hopefully, right away...remains to be seen. Saga continues as it's not over until the fat lady sings.

Cool Tuesday

Mornin'! It's actually pretty nice out...skies are partially clear and starlit, not much of a breeze happening and it's 59° this early morn before dawn...not too shabby. Temps won't get much warmer again as low 60's will be the highest numbers we'll see on the island today. A Frontal Boundary slowly comes by later this morning and stalls right over WW and by early afternoon could be bringing breezes of 5-10mph out of the SSW; then switching it up and coming in from the SSE at 15-20mph w/gusting. Along with this all comes the increased chance of rain and/or thunderstorms sometime this afternoon/early evening; basically sweater weather enjoyed with a bowl of soup. High tide:9:04a.m.; Low tide: 3:02a.m.; Ocean Temp: 48°. 62 days until Summer! Happy Passover as it began last evening at sundown...sorry, forgot to mention that in yesterday's blog.

Monday Monday

Mornin'! I'm not sure why Mama Cass is drifting around in my head while blogging this Monday morning! It's currently 59° in Wildwood this dark, quiet, very still Monday morning. Breezes are minimal out of the SW at 10mph. It seems cloud covered as there are only a few stars visible in the dark sky. Sunrise is due in less than an hour...as the clouds could enhance the show. It won't get much warmer today...lo-mid 60's with breezes shifting to the ENE up to 20mph. Clouds will thicken as we head into the evening and by overnight showers could begin. There's a 50% chance tomorrow will be a washout. April's showers are doing their job as the plants, trees and flowers are coming alive. Today's tides: high: 8:44a.m.; low: 2:36p.m.; ocean temp: 49°; 63 days until Summer.

What a difference a day makes! Happy Palm Sunday and Happy Anniversary Ray & Deb!

Mornin'! Whew...we made it through yesterday's debacle. Flood sirens were raging on the island last evening. Everything was washed away that wasn't hunkered down. Thankfully I was hunkered. Today...horse of a different color...the sun's blazing this early Palm Sunday morn. Right now there's not much of a breeze to report. It's 59° this dry, quiet, bright beautiful Sunday. It'll remain mostly sunny today and reach the lo-mid 60's. Breezes will enter into the mix a little later coming from the SW at 15-25 mph with gusting. Great day for not only a delicious Sunday morning seashore breakfast which is smelling mighty fine as I type, but a perfect day for hanging the sheets out on the clothesline! Looking like a repeat for tomorrow as well. High tide: 7:50p.m.; Low tide:1:30p.m.; Ocean temp: 48°. Morey's Pier missed its grand opening yesterday, but Mariner's Pier will have their grand opening today. And, btw...heard Chickies and Petes are opening on the Boardwalk this year too...right at the ol' Burger King site. Summer's coming...64 more days!

Red Flag Warnings-A-Flying!

Mornin'! What a forecast...as the Red Flags are flapping in the brisk morning sea air! This is what they're saying: "Weather Advisories", "Hazardous Weather Outlook", "Coastal Flood Warning", "Wind Advisory", "Gale Warnings". It's currently 50° in Wildwood this morning. The day is beginning with cloud cover and breezes coming from the East at 20mph. Those clouds are insulating the island and making the ocean sound pretty angry as its roar is loud and clear six blocks away. Now here's what's predicted...the winds are supposed to increase by late this afternoon into evening and we're talking E-SE winds of 30-35mph with gusts of 50mph (secure anything outside you don't want to blow down). Rain will be developing around the same time and become heavy; (we may see thunderstorms) creating flooding due to the intensity of the rainfall (don't drive through it). The Full moon tomorrow isn't helping either as we all know the moon oversees the tides. The very strong gravitational attraction of the full moon causes the ocean to bulge; thus higher than usual tides. High tide: 7:31p.m.; Low tide:12:59p.m.; Ocean temp:49°. Hang in there...65 days until Summer! Oh...tomorrow is back to the sunshine and 60° temps.

Mild, Milky, Mix

Mornin'! It's currently 59° in Wildwood. Skies are clear and still starlit in the early morning darkness. It's quiet and very still and there's no breeze to report. You can barely hear the roar of the ocean this morning. It will be dry and stay mostly clear until the milky clouds appear later taking the sun's warmth away. Something else taking the warmth away as it will only be in the lo-mid 50's is the seabreeze. The cold onshore eastery breeze 15-25mph coming off the ocean will make it a sweater weather day. Eh...it's not that bad today as tomorrow will be a mostly rainy day. Today's tides: high:6:09p.m.; low:11:51a.m.; ocean temp:49°. 66 days until Summer. Full moon is Sunday (which will be sunny and warmer btw).

Blue Skies are checking back in

Mornin'! It's 52° in Wildwood this early morn. From the looks of things right now, it's cloud covered outside, very quiet and still as there's no breeze to report. Today's forecast is clouds will be checking out and blue skies are checking in as it will a mostly sunny day today. Temps will rise into the low-mid 60's. Winds will join in the mix later coming from the NW at 10-15mph and shift by early evening from the east as a seabreeze will waft over us. Not too shabby for a Spring Day. High tide:5:15p.m.; Low tide:11a.m.; Ocean temp:53°. 67 days until summer! 3 more days until the next Full Moon!

San Fran Hump Day

Mornin'! Has a San Francisco feel this morning in Wildwood. It's currently 48° with dense fog as daybreak unfolds. After some major rainfall during the night, outside is heavy with fishy fragrance and noisy with the ocean's roar as the fog and heavy clouds insulate the island. It'll stay pretty much gray and misty throughout most of the day. There's a 30% chance of showers off and on. Temps won't reach past the mid-upper 50's. Breezes start out from the NE at 7mph and will shift from the S at 12mph a bit later. Sun returns tomorrow with a little higher temps; then rain returns Saturday. Today's tides: high:10:04a.m.; low:4:17p.m.; ocean temp:55°; 68 days until Summer!

Last 60° Day for Awhile

Mornin'! It's currently 62° in WW this still dark, dry, and cloudy Tuesday morning. Won't get much warmer today in Wildwood either. Sunrise is not far off...half hour or so and by the looks of the thick clouds which seem to be opening somewhat as some blue sky is visible in spots...could make for a lovely, colorful sunrise. Remains to be seen! It'll be the last day for well over a week that we'll have 60 degree temps. There's a 100% chance of rain today. That chance decreases tonight and tomorrow, but there's still that chance. Sunny days are predicted by the end of the week; however, the weekend's looking 50/50. For today, the rain will be scattered April showers with winds becoming gusty at 20-30mph from the east, plus there's also a chance of thunderstorms. We're talking a cold, raw, wet breeze coming off the ocean, so you may want to rethink the spring outfit. Could be a sock day as well if you know what I mean. High tide:3:12p.m.; Low tide: 9:05a.m.; Ocean temp:51°. 69 days until Summer!

She's back and so is Summer!

Mornin'! Happy Monday! I'm back from Key West after enjoying a week of summer...with sunny, warm, humid and 80° temperatures everyday. I grabbed what I could bring back to our island so it will be sunny today with temps in the mid-70's and a SW breeze as it will be a nice sneak preview of summer and a bit of Key West on our island. S-SW winds will hang around all day and by this afternoon will kick up at 20-25mph. Enjoy this lovely summer-like day as dreary rain and cooler temps (50's) will be back beginning tonight and stick around a couple days. It's currently 54° as sunrise is an hour away and I'm guessing will be lovely as the heavy early morning fog seems to be drifting in and out of here in the darkness. High tide:2:04p.m.; Low tide:7:57a.m.; Ocean temp:51°, Sunset (which is enjoyed and applauded publicly each evening in Key West...the sunset capital of the world) will be:7:32p.m. here tonight in WW and I think I'll go check it out and applaud!

This Blogger's On Vacation

See if you can spot me in Key West!

April Fool's Friday!

Mornin'! I'm sad to say that today's my very last blog. "April Fool's"...just kidding! It will be my last blog for a little while though...like for a week while I'm on vacation. Key West is waiting and I'll be checking in there tomorrow. For now though and through next week...April's not going to disappoint as she brings showers off and on most of the next 6 days for all those May flowers. It's 37° in WW this early morning. Right this moment, it's not raining, but everything's wet and saturated from the overnight downpours. Rains will start back up and continue today all day into the overnight; some of it will be light drizzles and some stray showers or downpours. Tomorrow...rain only beginning the day until Ms. Sun comes back and sticks around thru Sunday. Rains come back Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday until blue skies return Thursday. Every day next week will be around the mid-50's. Today will get a bit breezy later with winds coming out of the NW at 20-25mph with gusting. High tide:7:21p.m.; Low tide:1:09p.m.; Ocean temp:49°. I've covered as much as I'm gonna cover for now! See ya in a week!
