Change in the Forecast

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got plenty of cloud cover at the moment but there's also breaks where blue sky and sunshine is part of the current weather scene.  No breezes. Just quiet and loveliness.  The local neighborhood garden party and rap music finally ended and was still going strong well past 1a.m. this morning. It seems they're all asleep now (wish I had an Air Horn). The original Sunday forecast has changed up a bit as it was supposed to be almost a washout today with rain in the forecast for the entire day. By the looks of all the forecasts I've checked...looking good today but keep your eye on that doppler.  It'll be mostly cloudy this morning becoming sunny.  There's a 20% chance of a scattered thunderstorm passing through late this afternoon and could cause heavy rainfall.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 80 with breezes out of the W-SW at 5-10mph.    Tonight...50% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms.  Temps in the low-mid 70s with breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.

50-50 Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and still (there's a "not-very-noticeable" light breeze though).  We're heating up yet the humidity has dropped and it feels majorly more comfortable than this time last week.  Today's temps will be in the mid-upper 80s with seabreezes (S-SE at 12-13mph) wifting (I mean wafting) over the island today.  There is that ol' 20% chance of a thunderstorm today and by tonight it'll be a 60% chance as some major clouds are expected to float over the island which could cause heavy rainfall.  Temps will head back into the mid 70s and breezes will be out of the SW at 5-10mph. Enjoy as tomorrow's looking much more sketchy with plenty of clouds and moisture in the air. There's 40-50% chance of rain kicking off the day and stay checked in throughout most of the day.  For today though...good one with checking that doppler once in a while.

Unsettled TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and quiet and humid.  Everything's wet from the overnight thunderstorms. There's thick storm clouds in the West and my guess is they're headed this way.  By the looks of things, (I just checked the doppler) looks like a storm is brewing not too far off and got it's eye on Wildwood this early morn.  It's a "keep your eye on the doppler" day for sure.  We've got the possibility of storms popping up all through the day into tonight.  Today's temps...mid 80s.  Breezes...N-NE 12-15mph.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with peeks of sun this afternoon.  Tonight...clearing a bit with some clouds in the mix and a 20% chance of those pop-up thunderstorms, temps in the mid 70s and breezes out of the E-SE at 9-10mph.  Tomorrow looks much better but Sunday looks like today...unsettled (been using that word a lot this week).

Weekly Beach Etiquette tips:
~never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any you see whether it's yours or not.
~don't forgot those cigarette butts...collect and trash them (or just don't smoke and pollute the lovely sea air).
~remember to pack those headphones (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music).
~kindly give others on the beach space when selecting your beach site.  Careful not to plop down too close or on top of your neighbors beach space.  Your beach stuff (blankets, chairs and umbrellas) should not be nearly touching.
~always remind your kids beach etiquette especially not running too close to others and avoid digging up, kicking or throwing sand near those sitting next to you.
~play ball, frisbee, corn hole, kite-flying etc on the back side of the beach and not near beach goers (the beach patrol will usually stop you anyway if your in the wrong area.)
~ no feeding the seagulls (big no-no). And, eat and snack smartly...under your hooded sand chair, or umbrella as these beach vultures are eyeing up each and every beach goer looking for the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth.  Once they get you then the havoc begins as all their gull friends and family beging the attack for your scattered food.
~shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~speaking of "wind direction"...note which way that "spray" sunblock is headed as you apply. That misty spray does hit those around you if the breeze is just right.  And, the hit could be right in someone's eyes or mouth.

Another Hazy, Hot and Humid One

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and at'em.  No breezes to note.  Aromatic humid air from the marshes covers the island.  It's summer at its best.  We'll have a hazy, hot and humid one with temps in the mid-upper 80s with tropical breezes out of the S-SE at 9-11mph.  There's a 30% chance of a passing thunderstorm anytime throughout the day (check your doppler). Tonight...temps in the mid 70s with breezes out of the S-SE at 12-14mph as clouds filter in with a 60% chance of a thunderstorm.  It's kind of an unsettled day again and so is tomorrow.  That's what summer is...mostly unsettled as the heat brings surprises every once in awhile.

Hump Day Mix

Mornin'!  It's 77° this warm and humid morning in Wildwood NJ.  We've got a "red sky" this sunrise and if you don't know..."Red sky in the morning...Sailors take warning."  Just saying.  It'll be another warm one today but not as hot as the last two days...today's temps: low-mid 80s.  There's a very light E-NE breeze at the moment and will shift from the South later at 7-10mph.  We could see a thunderstorm this morning (30% chance) so keep your eye on the doppler.  Looks like a sunny/cloudy mix today.  Tonight...20% chance of precipitation with temps in the low-mid 70s and southerly breezes at 7-10mph.  Looks like tomorrow will have pretty much the same forecast.  In fact, so does Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Another Splendid Beach Day!

Mornin'!  It's 77° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  Wildwood unlike surrounding shore towns (mostly north of us) never got the nice watering they did yesterday so...mama had to water the garden first thing this morning. It's already beginning to warm up.  It'll be almost a repeat of yesterday but not quite as hot.  It's probably not even going to be noticeable.  Temps will be in the upper 80s/low 90s with breezes out of the W-NW at 7-9mph (pack the insect repellant just in case those greenhead flies visit you on the beach). There's a 20% chance of a passing rain shower and/or thunderstorm later.  Tonight...breezes shifting from the SW 5-10mph with temps in the mid 70s.  Tomorrow...almost a repeat of today but a tad cooler (mid-upper 80s).

Unsettled Monday

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood.  We've got some weather happening this early morn.  It's warm, humid and breezy (S-SW at 15-20mph) with dark stormy looking skies and thunder in the distance.  The pooch is on high alert as he's a bit on the nervous side with tail down running around the house (he's not a fan of thunder).  We have some Heat Advisories post today as the heat index will feel like 101° once this scattered thunderstorm passes and Ms Sun begins to shine through today's partially cloudy skies.  Temps will be in the low-mid 90s today with breezes out of the S-SW.  There's a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the day into this evening too.  Tonight...possible scattered rain showers and/or thunderstorms (could be severe) and temps in the upper 70s with breezes out of the SW at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow will be another hazy, hot and humid day with mostly sunny conditions!

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 85° in Wildwood NJ.  Blog's a bit late today...company for the weekend and I not only slept in a bit but was provided with a lovely Sunday morning breakfast by hubby for me and our guests.  They're checking out and prepping for the 4+ hr journey home.  What beautiful weather Mother Nature provided them since Thursday.  And, today's no exception.  We're going to have another beach day as Ms Sun pours down with a bit of clouds floating in later with upper 80° temps but less humidity.  Breezes are currently out of the NE at 11-12mph.  Today's breezes will shift later out of the SE at 9-10mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the lo-mid 70s and breezes out of the S-SE at 13-15mph.  Tomorrow...partly sunny/partly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain showers.

Heat Advisory Posted

Mornin'! It's 78° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  It's a warm (not overly humid) morn on the island.  We've got nothing in the line of breezes.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  It'll be a hot one down the shore today with sun shining down and temps in the low 90s with heat indexes in the low 100s.  There's a Heat Advisory posted until tonight. Breezes will be out of the W-SW at 5-10mph.  Anything with "West" in the wind direction poses the threat of "green heads" which are westerly biting flies.  Pack the insect repellant as they're always hungry for humans.  There's a 20% chance of a thunderstorm late this afternoon due to that heat buildup. Tonight...clear but still a chance of those storm clouds passing over us and temps in the upper 70s with breezes out of the S-SW at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...sunny and much more comfortable (mid 80s) with northerly breezes.  Santa will be on the beach today in North Wildwood.  And, the Christmas in July boat parade will be all along the harbors and canals tonight!
More importantly...if beaching...pack the sunblock, umbrella, footwear, a hat and water.

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's just shining through the morning haze and there's a light breeze.  The heat begins to build today with temps just about tapping 90° as the sun shines down. There will be some clouds in the mix too (thankfully giving some shade relief). Breezes will be out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with a 20% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm.  Temps will go back into the mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the S-SW at 18-33mph.  The weekend's looking sunny and hot hot hot with temps in the 90s through Tuesday.  Pack the sunblock, hat, footwear (beach sand will be too hot for bare feet) and plenty of water. Another summery nice one.

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got that hazy, cloud-covered, overcast morn as Ms Sun's trying her best to shine through it all.  It's still and quiet with no breezes.  It's fragrant with "marsh aroma" out there.  It looks like we're squeezing yet another nice one before the heat and humidity begin to build back up and check in for the weekend.  It'll be in the low-80s today with plentiful sunshine and breezes out of the SE at 7-8mph.  Tonight...same...clear and temps in the low 70s with breezes out of the SW at 13-16mph.  Beginning tomorrow...much warmer with humidity.

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  Half the sky is cloudy and the other clear. There's hardly a breeze.  Ms Sun's up as she's making her way over the clouds.  It's aromatic with the "marsh fragrance" hovering above.  Looks like a mix today with sun and clouds and a 30% chance of scattered showers and/or thunderstorms on the menu later today (keep the doppler handy).  NE breezes (8-10mph) with low 80° temps making for a mostly comfortable, less humid day. Enjoy it as another heat wave is headed this way beginning tomorrow.  Tonight...partly cloudy, E-SE breezes 8-9mph, low 70s and again the chance of rain and/or thunderstorms are forecasted.  The next heat wave...sunshine and 90°+ temps at least up until this time next week.  The weekend's looking like a scorcher...pack the sunblock and strap in!

Full Thunder Moon / Full Buck Moon / Full Hay Moon

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partially cloud covered out there with very light breezes and Ms Sun's over the horizon trying to break on through the clouds.  The sky is turning beautiful shades of pink and gold just where she's peeking out.  It'll be mostly sunny with a bit of cloud cover in the mix and less humid today.  The temps will be in the upper 80s with breezes out of the N-NW at 8-10mph.  There's is a 20% chance of a passing thunderstorm later.  We had heavy storm last evening giving everything a good watering not to mention winds, thunder and lightning. No storm damage from those scary as hell clouds which began to open up and pour down. Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the SW then becoming North at 5-10mph.  It's the Full Moon (6:59p.m.) so keep your eye on those high tides and don't drive through any tide water.

Moon Name trivia
...July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads with a coating of velvety fur and is why the full moon in July is referred to as the Full Buck Moon.  It was also call the Full Thunder Moon due to all the thunderstorms that occur this time of the year.  Another name is the Full Hay Moon as fields are fragrant with the first cut of hay as well as barns and lofts are filling with fresh baled hay for the winter months to come.

Hazy, Hot, Humid

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  It's humid and hazy with no breezes to write about.  Another hot one's on tap as temps tap the low 90s and the humidity builds.  Once again Ms Sun will be shining down and creating some high UV indexes.  Protection against Ms Sun is needed.  Especially midday between 10-4...take steps to reduce sun exposure.  And, always remember that beach goers get double UV exposure as the white sand and water reflect the sun's rays.  Breezes will be light out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...temps back down into the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the W-SW at 10-20mph.  There's a 20% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm this evening.  Keep the doppler handy.  Tomorrow might start out a bit on the cloudy side but will eventually be a repeat of today. Decent Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet.  No breezes.  No seagulls laughing.  It's hazy.  Ms Sun's due up and she'll be dealing with the morning haze and milky clouds.  Looks like a partly sunny / partly cloudy day as some clouds along with humidity will be checking in. Temps will be in the low-mid 80s with breezes onshore SE at 15-20mph.  Tonight it'll be mostly clear until late tonight when more clouds roll in as there's a 30% chance of a thunderstorm.  Temps will drop back down into the low-mid 70s with breezes out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...almost a repeat of today with warmer temps.  It looks like the weekend's changed up a bit as of this writing there's no rain in sight for Saturday and Sunday!

The Hits Just Keep On Comin'

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun is in the midst of rising and shining as I type. It'll be another beauty today as the humidity's on the low side with temps going into the low 80s.  Some clouds are joining in the mix today with breezes out of the SE at 9-12mph.  Tonight...upper 60s with breezes out of the S-SE at 10-14mph with clear skies.  Tomorrow...more of the same loveliness with clouds filtering over the island in the evening and a possibility of thunderstorms.  So far the weekend's looking "iffy" as at this time there's rain in the weekend forecast with Sunday being the wetter of the two days. Just saying.

Friday Heat Wave

Mornin'! Blog's a bit later this morning...vacation day and I got to sleep in!!!  Not to mention our little (almost 3 year old) grandson, daughter and son-in-law arrived last night for the weekend and life is perfect right now.  It's sunny and warm as the back porch thermometer is saying 80° already.  It'll be a hot one as temps get into the low 90s as humidity is 80% as that will climb too today.  Breezes are nothing to note now but will wift (I mean "waft") in from the W-NW 3-5mph later.  Tonight...low 70s and 20% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.  The weekend's still looking like 50-50 with Sunday being the better of the two days.  (I'm off Monday too!!!)

~kindly give your neighbors space when selecting your beach site.  Careful not to plop down too close or on top of their beach space.
And, eat and snack smartly...under your hooded sand chair, or umbrella as these beach vultures will eye each and every beach goer looking for the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth.  Once they get you then the havoc begins as all the other gulls attack for your scattered food.
~shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~follow posted warnings and pay attention to lifeguards.

Flash Flooding Still Posted

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly.  It's still (no breezes to note).  It's humid.  It's feeling a bit tropical as my outdoor porch plants are happy and can attest to that (croton, palm, jasmine, fern) with fresh new growth.  Those plants live 8 months in the house and are incredibly happy now living in their element.  We had yet another fun holiday weekend as Tim McGraw left his mark in the wet sand with no fireworks display after his historic, rained-on beach concert last night.  Next up...BBQ/Blues Fest this coming weekend (my favorite fest of all) which so far looks to have decent weather.  Today will be warm with a cloudy start as there's a 30% chance of isolated rain showers and even a leftover thunderstorm. It'll turn partly clear later with peeks of  sun as temps climb up into the mid-upper 80s with breezes out of the W-NW at 15-20mph. Tonight...back to the low-mid 70s with clearing conditions and breezes out of the West at 10-12mph.  Safe travels to all those departing the island today!

Happy 4th of July!

Mornin'!  Happy 4th of July! This is where the summer begins to pick up speed and seems to fly by.  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  We still got major cloud cover but no rain or moisture or breezes at the moment.  We lucked out as it turned out to be an overcast, somewhat cool day yesterday with no rain showers.  It is supposed to rain today and tonight though but I guess that also remains to be seen as well.  There is a chance of showers developing this afternoon (60% chance).  Temps will be in the upper 70's with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...more showers (80% chance) with the possibility of a thunderstorm and temps in the upper 60s/low 70s.  Breezes switching out of the SE at 10-15mph.  In the words of Annie..."The sun will come out tomorrow."  It's the New Moon so keep an eye on those high tides!

Gray Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and still (no breezes to note) with the heavy aroma of the ocean (fishy) in the humid air.  It's beginning to drizzle lightly as a nice hefty rain system is on our back doorstep.  It's coming from the West and is heading right for us as I blog. Rain showers are likely all morning (60% chance) as it'll then turn mostly cloudy today with temps in the mid-upper 70s.  Breezes will be light and variable out of the S-SW at 6-8mph. Tonight...cloudy with patchy fog. Temps will drop into the low-mid 60s with southerly breezes at 6-8mph.  Tomorrow there are more showers (and thunderstorms) on the menu (60% chance) and that's right into the evening.  Some of these showers and storms could produce heavy rainfall and stormy conditions so who knows what's happening for all these beach concerts and Fourth of July activities. Keep your eye on the doppler is all I can say!

2016 4th of July Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy 4th of July weekend!  I just put the flag out on the flag bracket! In doing so I noticed that we had many more arrivals during the late night and the streets are jammed packed.  Not a parking spot in sight as Wildwood is swollen to near capacity.  It's a beauty too this morning.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  There's a nice N-NW breeze at 15-17mph wafting over the island.  It'll be a lovely day to kick off the holiday weekend.  We'll have plentiful sunshine today as temps get into the low-mid 80s with breezes out of the West at 5-7mph. Tonight...clear with temps down into the mid 60s and breezes out of the W-SW at 7-9mph.  Things seemed to have changed for the rest of the weekend's weather.  I was surprised to see tomorrow has clouds and rain showers in the forecast (20-40% chance mostly before noon) but they're not calling a total washout as Ms Sun's also in the mix peeking through.  Monday (New Moon) as well will have even more of a chance of rain showers in the forecast (60% chance) after noon into the evening.  Looks like many, many people will be looking for things to do indoors as well as wearing rain ponchos with their cowboy boots for Tim McGraw.

Happy July!

Mornin'!  Welcome July!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under overcast, quiet, very still (no breezes) and very humid conditions.  We had a heavy downpour just before daybreak and we're in the tropics at the moment with all the moisture and humidity over the island.  There's a humid haze over us (90% humidity).  It'll be a mostly cloudy one with occasional breaks of sunshine.  There are scattered thunderstorms in the forecast all day and even a possibility into tonight (50% chance).  Keep your eye on the doppler as they could be severe. (Two forecasts mentioned hail and damaging winds...just saying). Temps will be in the mid-upper 80s, humidity high and breezes out of the South at 10-15mph.  Tonight...mostly clear but still the possibility of those scattered showers and/or those ugly thunderstorms.  Temps back down into the low-mid 70s with breezes out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  The holiday weekend's still looking A-OK other than there's now rain in the forecast Monday night...pack the rain parka for the Tim McGraw beach concert!
