Late Friday Night!

My home - The island of Wildwood at dawn
Evenin'!
It's that time again! My annual hiatus from weather blogging is here as it's time for me to join the annual Halloween festivities in Key West Florida.  I've decided to take a backseat from the ol' blog until November 1st.  That will come soon enough as we  all know how quickly vacations fly by. If interested in getting the current or upcoming weather and down the shore updates while I'm sleeping in,  just click on "Wunderground".  It's right on my blog page under My Personal Favs (the last link there) then type in 08260 (Wildwood's zip code) in the Search box at the top right.  In my opinion, it's one of the most accurate Wildwood NJ daily/weekly weather forecasts.  Another very accurate source is "Dippin' Dan the Local Weatherman's" Facebook page.  He's usually spot on.  And just about everything you need for the "down the shore" weather, air temps, tides, sunrises, ocean temp, winds and wind direction etc is right there under my Personal Favs.
See ya in November and thanks to all those who regularly check and follow my weather blog!  I know you are all out there reading my words as it shows on my blog counter. It won't allow me info on who's visiting and checking on Wildwood Weather but I can see general areas where the hits are coming from.  And, they're from all over the country and in some cases the world!  I have many Canadian followers (shout out)! It's so fascinating!
For those who have any interest in trying to find me and hubby in Key West here's the link for the many webcams they provide http://www.floridakeyswebcams.tv/
And, by the way...it's 10p.m. Friday and 68° and cloudy.  We had bit of fog roll in at dusk and it was perfect ambiance for this time of year.  We're supposed to start getting a soaking rain overnight (70% chance).  Then the winds arrive wiping up the rear (N-NW 25-35mph). Saturday will start with those winds and more showers.  The rain will taper off later on Saturday but those stupid winds will get more intense (gusts of 50mph). Sunday...lots of sunshine, around 65° and still windy West 20-30mph.
I'm posting now to have one less thing to do during "get ready" time in the wee hours of the mornin'!
Sayonara!

Friday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Again.  It's been 67° for three mornings in a row.  It's the last one though as we're heading into the autumn temperature zone tonight.  By this time tomorrow it should be in the 50s.  It's currently cloudy with a light breeze out of the SE at 5-7mph.  That's going to change too.  Tomorrow night's big beach bonfire (say that fast 3 times) in North Wildwood has been postponed until November 5th due to tomorrow's extreme winds.  This morning... rain showers could develop from the cloud cover (40% chance) but don't be surprised to see peeks of sun in the mix today.  Temps are heading into the low 70s again with winds out of the SE at 6-9mph.  Tonight...cloud cover, rain showers (60% chance) with winds beginning to pick up first from the South and switching to the NW at 17-22mph.  We could see (or hear) gusting as high as 39mph.  Tomorrow we could wake to rain (30% chance) which should eventually clear out but the winds are the star attraction this weekend.  Tomorrow...NW 28-33 sustained with gusts as high as 46mph.  Sunday...windy (less than Saturday) with a mix of clouds and sun.

Another Good One

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's yet again a nice early morn out there. No breezes to note. The sky is clear, starlit and moonlit.  Clouds are joining the mix today in fact one forecast mentioned a 20% chance of a rain shower sometime in the afternoon.  Temps will get up into the mid 70s (yesterday the high reached the mid 80s).  Breezes will be out of the E-SE at 11-13mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 16-23mph.   Looks like rain tomorrow and Saturday.  But the winds and cooler more fall-like temps are checking in with that rain. Sweater weather!

FOOTNOTE: The fog has encased the island at 10:30 this morning!  Not sure if we'll see Ms Sun again today, but I'm loving this ambiance.

Indian Summer Humpday!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got another nice start to this early morn with clear starlit/moonlit skies and light breezes.  It'll be a continuation of this week's perfect autumn "indian summer" weather with clear blue skies, Ms Sun pouring down, breezes out of the W-SW at 8-10mph and temps possibly tapping 80° (no typo).  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the N-NE at 11-13mph.  The weekend's looking "eh" as Saturday could be rainy (50% chance), much cooler temps and not to mention very windy. Sunday's looking like the better of the two with sunshine, blustery and fall-like temps returning.  Enjoy today!

Weather Perfection

Courtesy of Chris Bakley (Cape May NJ)
Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely pre-dawn morning with mild temps, a sky full of stars, and that moon that continues to light the darkness.  There's a very light breeze out of the North at 3-4mph.  It'll be another gift from the Mother Nature today as Indian Summer continues this week. Look for clear, sunlit skies, temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the S-SW at 11-13mph. Tonight...clear and temps back into the mid 60s with breezes ramped up a bit out of the S-SW at 20-25mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same and even warmer.  Last night's clear sky was brightened by that huge red Hunter's Moon as well as the rocket launch from Wallops Island VA visible from our New Jersey shores.  What a sight to behold.  One that I'll never forget.

Indian Summer Monday

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely start to the day with a clear sky full of stars and of course that Hunter's moon is still up and shining brightly.  Ms Sun's here in less than an hour so things will be changing quickly.  It's going to be heavenly today in the weather department.  We're going to have plentiful sunshine with temps will be in the mid 70s and breezes out of the SW at 6-7mph.  Tonight...clear and moonlit with temps in the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the SW at 12-14mph.  Forecasts are showing the same for tomorrow and Wednesday too!  Last night's rocket launch was postponed until this evening (if all checks out ok)...new time: 7:40p.m.

Sunny Sunday

Crest Pier (great viewing spot)
Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, starlit, moonlit and mostly still (very light breezes to note).  There's a handful of clouds here and there but my guess is they'll make this morning's sunrise better than usual.  It'll be another lovely day down the Shore with temps tapping low 70° and breezes out of the S-SW at 8-10mph.  Tonight...clear and moonlit with temps in the upper 50s and breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Appears to be a good night for the rocket launch from Wallops Island VA. It is amazing how we can actually view a launch in Wildwood NJ that's happening in Virginia but we can! In fact we'll get much more than a rocket launch tonight if you're on the beach as it'll be a Full Moon rise, the International Space Station will fly over the island at 7:33p.m. then a ½ hour later...the rocket launch.  Nighttime fun on the beach this evening!

Hunter's Moon and Fabulous 50's Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and quiet with no breezes.  Ms Sun's rising as I type. She'll be the star attraction today along with the Full Hunter's Moon tonight.  I have some windows open and can here seagulls laughing somewhere in the neighborhood.  I have an apple cake in the oven just because it's that time of year to blend the aroma of apples and sea air. It's going to be a lovely autumn day down the Shore. Today's temps will reach the mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the E-NE at 7-9mph. Tonight...clear and moon lit with temps in the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the S-SE at 9-11mph. Tomorrow...more of the same but a tad warmer. There's just nothing like these Beauties down the Shore when Mother Nature is providing such nice weather. We all know how fickle (not to mention harmful) she can be.

Beautiful Autumn

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood NJ.  The dark sky is clear and starlit as well as moon lit.  The Full Moon is tomorrow but you would think it's now as its so big and brilliant.  I can almost hear howling in the distance.  It's known as the Full Hunter's Moon as it was the time to go hunting in prepartion for winter.  It will rise just after sunset and sets around sunrise. This is the only night of the month when the Moon is in the sky all night long.  It'll be another day much like the rest of the week but with cooler temps.  Plenty of sunshine today with temps in the low-mid 60s.  Breezes will be out of the N-NE at 10-13mph.  Tonight...clear and moonlit with temps in the upper 40's/low 50s and breezes out of the NE at 5-8mph.  The weekend's looking really nice with plenty of sunshine and temps hovering around the 70° mark.

Another Beauty

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit as Ms Sun has just begun the very beginning stages of lightening the horizon.  We should see a brilliant sunrise this morning.  It's still with hardly a breeze.  It's fragrant (some would call it "stinky") with the aroma of the back bay marsh in the heavy salty air.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the W-SW at 9-10mph.  Tonight...clear with temps back into the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the N-NW at 17-25mph.  It's looking A-OK for the weekend as well as right into next week.  Loving this continued fall weather. Full (Hunter's) Moon's this weekend as those high tides should be much higher than normal (watch driving through any tide water seeping onto the island's streets.

Lovely Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit as Ms Sun lies waiting in the wings.  She'll be rising in about an hour.  It'll be another beauty today with plenty of sunshine (some clouds in the mix) and temps in the upper 60s (possibly tapping the 70s like yesterday) with light breezes out of the East at 8-9mph.  Tonight...clear with temps back down into the mid-upper 50s and breezes out of the E-SE at 8-10mph.  Looking good right up until Monday and forecasts are all saying that the weekend is still going to be a lovely one! Full moon this weekend too.

Nice Day On Tap

Cape May - Lighthouse
Cape May - The Ebbit Room
Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit with a light breeze out of the North at around 6mph.  It'll be a lovely bright autumn day down the Shore with Ms Sun pouring down and temps in the low-mid 60s with breezes out of the N-NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...some clouds roll in but mostly clear with temps in the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the E-NE at 5-10mph.  It's becoming brighter at night as the Full Moon (Hunter's Moon) is this weekend! Speaking of weekend, it's looking 100% better than last with no rain in the forecast.  Yet.

Day Off Monday!!!

Mornin'!  Happy Columbus Day!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  That's no typo...we've got a nice chill in the autumn sea air this morning. It hasn't been in the 40s since May 16th! It's breezy adding to the chill...North at 16-20mph.  Ms Sun's up and at'em.  She'll be the most important member of the weather-show today as there's not much in the line of clouds preventing her from shining down and warming us. There hasn't been much warmth around this past weekend with the heavy rains and winds. I'm looking forward to some sun today.  It'll be in the low 60s with breezes out of the N-NW at 15-25mph.  Tonight...clear with temps headed back to the upper 40s-low 50s.  Breezes will be out of the North at 16-18mph.  Tomorrow...less breezy and sunny and warmer.

Great Weekend to work on my Halloween Costume!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a bit overcast but Ms Sun was doing her best to brighten things up and shine on through the cloud cover.  It's a little breezy out of E-NEwith 9-11mph winds. It'll be mostly cloudy and becoming totally cloudy with periods of rain by this afternoon (80% chance).Temps will just about tap 70° as the E-NE winds stick around as well.  Tonight...rain (100% chance) with temps back into the low-mid 60s and winds out of the N-NE at 10-20mph.  Sorry to report but tomorrow looks like a washout as well with increased, heavy winds. Monday's looking like it's Ms Sun's day to rise and shine! Oh...rain or shine...Wildwood's annual Seafood Fest in on!

Looks like the weekend could have lots of cloud cover with 50-60% chance of rain showers in the forecast. Sunday will have some sun beginning later in the morning but with lots of wind. Once again...thoughts and prayers are constant for our Floridian neighbors.

A Pleasant Day Down The Shore

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  It's currently cloudy with a light breeze wifting (wafting) over the island from the NE.  We never had the pleasure of Ms Sun yesterday as it was a gray, blustery, chilly day down the shore.  Today...horse of a different color as Ms Sun's due up (in just over an hour) and scheduled to shine down brightly today.  Temps will tap 70° with breezes out of the NE at 10-20mph.
Tonight...mostly clear with temps down into the low 60s and breezes out of the E-NE at 15-17mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same.  Saturday...a washout.  Sunday...back to sunshine but with major winds.  It would be remiss of me not to mention Hurricane Matthew.  This storm is expected to approach our Florida coast as a major hurricane tonight. It's expected to churn northward along Florida's central Atlantic coast tomorrow.  Our eyes, thoughts and prayers are with our Floridian folk.
Thankfully, Matthew could care less about the Jersey coast.

Fair Hump day

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with a very light breeze.  Ms Sun's supposed to rise and shine as it'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps in the mid 60s.  Winds will be out of the NE at 15-25mph. Tonight...partly cloudy, temps in the upper 50s and breezes out of the NE at 10-20mph.  As for Hurricane Matthew...looks like we're missing the bullet on this one as the effects for our Jersey shore will be Saturday and Saturday night with heavy rain and winds.  All forecasts seem to indicating that this bad boy will be well offshore to have any scary or devastating effects other than the usual beach erosion and tidal flooding. I'm still watching it though.

Mostly Cloudy / Mostly Windy

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit with barely a breeze. It'll be a clear, sunny start to the day but will become cloudy later this morning.  Temps will barely tap 70° as winds wift (waft) over the island from the NE at 20-30mph. There's a very slight chance (20%) of a rain shower this afternoon. Tonight...cloudy with NE winds at 15-25mph and temps barely tapping 60°.  Tomorrow looks much like today.  And, shall we talk weather for this weekend? Well, Hurricane Matthew is hitting Haiti and Cuba at the moment and has yet to set its sights on the Jersey shore yet but I haven't taken my eyes off of it.  One things certain...we will somehow feel its effects by the weekend.  Both Saturday and Sunday look like very wet and extremely windy days.  How wet and how windy has yet to be determined.  For today...a mostly cloudy - somewhat bad hair day is the special on today's weather menu.

Sunny Sunday maybe next week

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  We're still under cloud cover and misty/foggy conditions.  Everything's wet and dripping.  Breezes are out of the North at 8mph. It's supposed to change up a bit today as even with all the cloudiness and 20% chance of a passing shower, we just may see Ms Sun peek in.  Remember her?  Today's temps will be in the low 70s with breezes out of the NE at 5-13mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with a possibility of a passing shower, temps down into the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the North at 7-10mph.  Tomorrow...partly sunny!!!!

More Coastal Flood Advisories Posted today

Photo taken by North Wildwood Recreation Dept
Mornin'!  Happy October! It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  Current conditions are windy (E-NE 20-24mph), gray, misty and some fog.  No rain pouring down at the moment but the forecasts are saying periods of scattered rain (including the possibility of thundershowers) throughout the day.  Temps will get up a bit higher and just tap 70° with stiff winds continuing into the evening.  Tonight...temps back down into the upper 60s with more misty rain and/or showers with winds out of the SE at 12-18mph.  We've been getting nailed with this huge nor'easter storm that won't release us out of its grasp.  It's been pummeling our coast relentlessly for a couple of days now and it'll continue to do so today. Coastal Flooding should be expected again. The ocean keeps taking back our beach! It's also looking like tomorrow could be the day that Ms Sun's going to check back in!  Yay!  Wildwood's Italian Fest has been cancelled. Nothing's been posted on the Police and Fire Survivors Weekend so it looks like it's still happening
