The Last Of January

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies with light breezes out of the NE at 4-8mph.  The surf is loud and clear and a 10 minute walk away.  The weather will end a lot differently than it began this last day of January.  Expect a mostly to partly sunny morning giving way to a cloudy afternoon.  Temps will get up into the mid-upper 40s with those NE winds sticking around at 5-10mph.  Tonight... heavy clouds with a 60% chance of rain showers as temps go down to the upper 30s / low 40s.  The NE winds will still be checked in at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... starting out with early morning rain showers turning into a mostly cloudy (some peeks of sun), seasonable (mid-40°) day.  Sunday looks like Ms Sun will be checking back in with those temps still in the 40s.  Until next year January!  Thanks for being good to us on the east coast!

Mix Of Sun And Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a windchill of 19° due to the NE winds at 7-10mph.  It's a very crisp winter's morning down the Shore.  The stars are bright and twinkling in the black, clear sky.  Let's not forget the exhilarating "salt" that's in the air!  It's all good!  Sunrise is just about an hour away.  Expect a partly cloudy morning with overcast skies this afternoon.  Temps will barely tap 40° with NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s and NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... almost a repeat of today with intervals of clouds and sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 40s.  The weekend's looking like Saturday morning showers with clear sailing throughout the rest of the day right into Sunday as the forecast is now saying partly sunny instead of a mostly rainy weekend.  At this time, it looks like this weekend coastal storm that's had its sights on us maybe just barely be grazing the shore.

Partly Sunny Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun is up and shining through some cloud cover as she begins warming the island again!  The streets are in normal "winter-mode" again with serenity, quiet (not one helicopter hovering) and parking available as far as the eye can see!
It's a cold, crisp, partly cloudy, partly sunny morning.  Breezes are light out of the NW at 6-8mph.  It'll be a partly cloudy morning giving way to generally sunny skies for the day.  Temps won't get that much warmer... low-mid 40s.  N-NW winds at 10-15mph will be wifting (wafting) over the island today.  It'll feel like the mid-30s.  Tonight... mostly clear skies with temps just in the low-30s with a windchill of upper 20s. North winds will be light a 4-6mph.  Tomorrow... somewhat cloudy, breezy and cold (barely tapping 40° with that windchill in the mix).  Looking like cold, miserable rain for Saturday and the first half of Sunday.

Rally Day

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and overcast with heavy cloud cover.  There is a thin line of clear, bright sky along the horizon as Ms Sun is beginning to show herself way out over the ocean. However, the island is dark and ominous this morning as helicopters once again woke me hovering over my roof just after 6am as it too dealt with the heavy clouds.
It's Rally Day as #45 comes to the Wildwood Convention Center tonight.  The Rally-Folk have been here since Sunday beginning their lineup in the Cattleshoots strategically placed in the Center's parking lot.  I couldn't help but think of how cold they all were throughout the night as I snuggled into my warm, cozy bed last night.  They're actually parking here in my neighborhood (6+ blocks away from the action) as I type. The "no parking zones" are posted everywhere.  There's a 6-block circumference around the Convention Center neighborhoods preventing any cars from parking. Most streets have blockades as well. The frozen folk will be allowed into the Convention Center beginning at 3PM. On a good note... I hear the Protestors are assembling around dinner time (5-6pm) at the Convention Center area.
Today will have a mix of clouds and sun (maybe sunshine) as temps climb up a bit to the mid-40s.  Winds are currently out of the NW at 10-15 and will ramp up to 10-20mph (windchill in the low-mid 30s).  It'll surely feel raw and cold.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s and winds still out of the NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns as well as normalcy and the Winter peace and quiet.  It looks like a mostly sunny day in the low-40s and less wind.

Lovely Last Sunday Of January

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partly clear / partly cloudy skies.  The cloudiness is over the ocean and the clear sky is over the bay and wetlands.  Breezes are very light out of the West at 6-9mph.  We're going to have a lovely winter's day with plenty of sunshine (a light mix of clouds here and there) with temps just about tapping 50° and winds out of the West at 10-12mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s with Westerly breezes at 9-12mph.  Tomorrow... almost a repeat of today.  Expect mostly sunny conditions with temps in the upper 40s and breezes still out of the West.

Crapola Saturday And Last Weekend of January

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  Rain is coming down as the E-SE winds are hammering the island already at 18-23mph.  It's been loud outside (since last evening) as the ocean's roaring like a lion and can be heard loud and clear (inside a closed up house) 6+ blocks away.  It's supposed to be a 50-50 kind of weather day.  Expect a windy, rainy first half of the day.  There's a 100% chance of rain and at times heavy and torrential.  Winds will be out of the SE at 20-30mph.  Temps will tap 50°.  By this afternoon... this crapola weather will quickly head out to sea as clouds and winds push away and decrease as this system exits.  Then this afternoon into tonight... mostly clear with some peeks of sunshine, temps dropping to mid-upper 30s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, breezy with temps in the upper 40s. Be aware of the high tides and tidal flooding today (the New Moon was yesterday).  Don't drive through flooding sea water (even when mixed with rain water)!

TGIF - New Moon Friday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  There's an E-NE breeze at 10-15mph.  It's a New Moon today.  Expect a mix of clouds and sun as temps just about tap 50°!  Those E-NE winds will ramp up even more at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with showers developing overnight.  Temps will hover around the low-mid 40s with winds checking in.  East winds will wift (waft) over the island at 20-30mph.  Chance of rain is 50%.  Tomorrow... rain likely and very windy.  Temps will be in the low-50s but it'll be very wet, windy and my guess is miserable.  Sunday... not so much as it will be sunny,  less windy with mild temps (mid-upper 40s) sticking around.  Keep in mind... the New Moon today will provide much higher than normal tides.  The Tide on the back side (marsh/bay side) of the island is an hour later than the beach/ocean side.  We could possibly see tidal flooding tomorrow with the rain along with the leftover New Moon pull.

Sunny Start - Cloudy Finish

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with horizon clouds painting a beautiful sunrise as Ms Sun has begun to glow over the island.  Breezes are out of the NE at 3-6mph.  It's a lovely cold, crisp morning down the Shore.  The fragrance of the briny waters surrounding us can be inhaled the moment you step outside!  It'll be a lovely winter's day with lots of sunshine in the first half of the day.  Clouds will roll in early this afternoon as it'll be a mostly cloudy second half of the day.  Temps will climb into the low-mid 40s.  Breezes will remain light out of the E-NE at 3-5mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy as temps drop into the mid-30s with E-NE breezes at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly cloudy as we may tap 50°.  The weekend remains 50-50 with rain on Saturday and sunshine on Sunday.  The New Moon is tomorrow.  Whether a "New" moon or "Full" moon... the tides will be much higher than usual and Saturday's rain could help in creating some tidal flooding.  Just an FYI!

Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under clear skies as Ms Sun's on her way any time now.  Breezes are light out of the North at 4-7mph.  Expect abundant sunshine today as temps tap the 40s!  Breezes will be out of the North at 5-10mph.  Tonight... mostly clear and starlit with temps dropping back into the upper 20s and winds light and variable (East to E-NE at 2-4mph).  Tomorrow... just about the same with a bit more clouds in the sky and a tad breezier.  The weekend's looking 50-50.  Saturday's a washout with plenty of rain temps in the 50s.  And, Sunday's looking partly sunny with temps in the 40s.

Martin Luther King Day

Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a breeze out of the N-NW at 14-18mph making a windchill of 14°.  Winter's been checked in the last few days and this morning's no exception.  Winter's getting nice and comfy here giving my bones reason to ache.  We've got a very cold, crisp, clear morning as Ms Sun's on her way over the horizon.  Expect sunny skies today with temps in the mid-30s.  Breezes out of the N-NW are staying checked in at 10-20mph making for a low-20 windchill today.  Tonight... clear and cold with temps in the upper-20s and winds out of the North at 10-15mph making for a windchill in the teens.  Tomorrow... more of the same but not quite as breezy.  It will still feel icy.

The Dogs Are Heading This Way

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  The stiff N-NW 20-25mph winds are making it feel like 20° outside this morning.  Winter's rearing it's head once again!  It's still dark and clear with starlit skies as Ms Sun lies in wait.  She's arriving in less than an hour.  Expect sunny, blue skies today with temps in the low-mid 30s with a windchill of low-mid 20s.  These blustery N-NW winds will simmer down somewhat to 15-20mph by later this afternoon. By this evening, they'll be down to 7-10mph out of the North.  Temps will drop down as well to around 20° but it'll feel like we're in the teens I'm sorry to report.  The fun weather is over for a few days.
Tomorrow, as the Kennel Club Dog Show begins, (https://wildwoodsnj.com/event/boardwalk-kennel-club-all-breed-dog-show/ ) it will be mostly cloudy as rain and snow showers are due to arrive around late morning / noon.  We're not supposed to receive any accumulation of snow like the big city.  It'll rain into the evening with winds whipping though.  Sunday... partly sunny, winds blustery with temps up in the 40s.

Delaware Bay - Sunken Concrete Ship - Cape May - Sunset Point Beach
Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with winds out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  Expect a mix of clouds and sun today with temps tapping 50° again.  It'll be mild but extremely windy and I'm sure feeling much colder.  Winds will begin later this morning out of the W-NW at 20-25mph +gusting at 35mph or higher.  We're talking a major "bad hair day".  Tonight... clear and windy with  temps in the mid-upper 30s and a windchill of 25° due to the 25-30mph NW winds. Tomorrow... sunny and colder with temps in the mid-30s. Winds will be a bit lighter (15-25mph).  The weekend's looking 50/50 with Saturday getting some rain showers in the afternoon and Sunday being partly sunny.

Mornin'!  It's 44° in misty, slightly foggy Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover again with damp, gray conditions.  Breezes are relatively light out of the NW at 5-10mph.  We're going to have areas of fog early, then partly cloudy skies with sunshine returning this late morning / early afternoon.  Temps will probably hit 50°.  Those NW winds will be all over the place as they switch to the West then again to the South and again to the S-SW all at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloud cover returns as temps drop to the low 40s with S-SW breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny / partly cloudy and very windy (W-NW at 25-35mph).  Those stiff winds will be bringing Winter back to the island as temps drop into the 20s by nighttime.

Gray Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover at the moment with hardly any breezes to note (East at 3-5mph).   It feels mild and damp when stepping outside... almost like a dewy March or April morning.   The balminess heightens the aroma of the briny, salty, waters surrounding the island.  I can hear the pounding surf thanks to the cloud cover insulating us (6+ blocks away).  Expect gray skies again today with rain showers at times (60% chance).  Temps will hover around where they are now... mid-upper 40s with Easterly winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 20% chance of rain, temps in the low-40s and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns as we reach the 50s again.

Where are you Winter?

Live Webcam Shot - North Wildwood - 5th Avenue Boat Ramp
Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  That's not a typo.  It's amazingly Spring-like this morning when stepping outside.  Breezes are out of the SW at 12-16mph.  We're under partially clear skies with heavy cloud cover all around us.  We're supposed to have a shower or two any time now and even a thunderstorm is possible (40% chance) this morning.  Today... temps will get into the low-60s today as most of the clouds clear out and provide us a partly cloudy / partly sunny day with winds out of the West and switching to the W-NW later at 16-22mph.  Tonight... mostly clear with N-NE winds at 10-15mph as temps drop down into the low-mid 40s.  Winter?  Where's Winter?

Somewhat Cloudy and Windy Plunge Day

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under hazy skies.  I can see the moon in the haze as the sky is far from clear and not allowing the twinkling stars to be seen.  It's breezy... winds out of the S-SW at 13-17mph.  I can hear the roar of the surf quite a few blocks away thanks to all those clouds above.  I live on the marsh side of the island and don't always get to hear the ocean.  We've got the Polar Plunge in Wildwood today!  It's 1PM at the Convention Center beach.  I know it's for the Special Olympics and all but those running into the drink are of unsound mind in my opinion.  I don't even want to imagine what that feels like.  Keep in mind these shivering, bathing suit-clad (and costumed) folk are walking from their vehicles to the beach (a fairly long walk for those undressed) and then stand there for at least 20 minutes jumping up and down waiting for the gun to go off so they can run as fast as possible to the 42° ocean.  Then, their soaking wet bodies must get back to that vehicle.  Another thing to keep in mind... Wildwood's beach at the Convention Center is about 4 football fields deep.  It is something to witness everyone excitedly heading to the ocean. It's quite a strange phenomenon.  If you can't make it, there's another in North Wildwood on February 22nd. That fund raiser is for our Fallen Heroes.
For today's weather... the plungers have much to be grateful for as it'll continue to be unseasonably mild. Expect mostly cloudy  skies (some sun peeking in), with temps in the upper 50's. Those annoying winds out of the S-SW will ramp up to 20-25mph keeping things feeling quite cold if you're wet. Tonight... mostly cloudy and even windier. Temps will drop to the upper 40s / low 50s with S-SW winds at 25-35mph gusting at times to 50mph.  There's a 60% chance of rain beginning tonight as well.  Sunday... it's looking like rain and winds on the overnight tonight as we wake to any rain leftover tomorrow morning.  For the most part though, it looks like a mostly sunny, mild day with temps in the low-60s (I can't believe I'm typing that) with winds simmered down.

Full Moon Friday

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got light breezes out of the South at 6-8mph.  We've also got some thick cloud cover as the ocean's wave action along the beach is loud and clear from my back porch 6+ blocks away.  The cloud cover does it all the time and insulates the sound of the surf very nicely.  The full moon just set over the horizon as it was illuminating the island all night long.  It seems that we're going to get considerable cloudiness today along with peeks of sunshine.  Temps will climb up to the low-mid 50s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly to mostly cloudy with temps dropping to the mid-upper 40s and those S-SW winds staying checked in at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... expect mostly cloud cover, stiff breezes (18-22mph) and mild temps (mid-upper 50s) for the Polar Plunge. Sunday begins with rain and very stiff winds but will settle down by late afternoon as temps reach 60°.  The Full "Wolf" Moon is today.  The Native American Indians were the record keepers of time as well as naming the Moons.  The reason for the "Wolf" moon is the increase of howling by the wolves this time of year.  Remember, the tides will be much higher and lower with the Full Moon and the streets may flood a bit.  Avoid taking the vehicle into the briny, salty flood water seeping into the streets.  Oh... and remember... the back bay and marsh side of the island has high tide an hour later than the ocean side.

A Stretch Of Unseasonably Warm Weather On Its Way

Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, still dark and moonlit (the Full Moon is tomorrow).  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 9-11mph creating a 20° wind chill.  It's nippy out there!  Things will begin warming up a bit later this morning as Ms Sun rises (any time now) and begins to do her thing.  We're starting a stretch of a warm up with temps tapping 40°, plentiful sunshine, and breezes out of the NE switching this afternoon to the E-SE all at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow... we're expected to hit the low-mid 50s, Saturday... the upper 50s and Sunday... maybe tapping 60°!  Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 30s and breezes out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.

Blustery Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun up and just broke through the morning clouds along the horizon.  She's struggling though as the clouds seem to be taking over more often than not.  Breezes are out of the W-SW at 15-20mph.  It feels like 30° with the wind chill.  Expect a mix of clouds and sun today as we'll have partly cloudy skies in the first half and partly sunny skies in the second half.  Don't forget the gusty winds (W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting) all day into tonight.  Temps will reach the mid-40s but with a wind chill of mid-30s.  Tonight... clear and windy.  Temps will hover around 30° with a wind chill of 20° due to those NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... looking sunny and cold (30s) with some afternoon clouds.  Saturday (Polar Plunge) is still looking mild (mid-upper 50s) but cloudy and windy.

Tuesday... Nice Start - Crapola Ending

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partly cloudy skies with no breezes to note.  These cloudy skies will give way to sunshine this morning and rain by this late afternoon (100% chance).  Temps will head up into the mid-upper 40s with East winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy and damp with light rain along with the possibility of a snowy mix in the early part of the evening. Temps will drop to the mid-30s.  Winds will switch from the NW at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... A bad hair day as that rain system is out of here. It'll be partly cloudy and big time windy (West winds at 25-35mph +gusting).  Friday of this week is the Full Moon. And, this coming Saturday is the Polar Bear plunge in Wildwood and the weather is looking balmy with temps in the mid-50s but windy.

Blustery And Sunny

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  The winds are packing a punch and hammering the island out of the NW at 20-30mph.  It sounds like a high-speed train roaring down the street.  In fact, it's what woke me this early morning.  The wind chill is 29°.  We're still under some thick heavy clouds as the recent cloud mass that's been covering us for the last few days is now slipping away and heading out to sea.  Parts of the sky are clear and preparing to welcome Ms Sun. Expect very windy conditions today with mostly sunny skies.  Temps will stay where they are now (low-40s) with a wind chill in the low-30s.  Winds will stay out of the NW at 30-40mph +gusting.  Tonight... a few clouds, temps near the mid-30s and winds calmed down out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 40s with winds out of the W-NW at 12-17mph.

Mostly Sunny Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 33° in sunny Wildwood NJ.   We've got plenty of sunshine along with frost.  Everything's covered in a frosty glaze.  Not much in breezes (S-SW at 2-4mph) and it's feeling cold out there.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps in the low 50s with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clouds roll on in with rain coming on the overnight.  Temps will drop into the mid-40s with S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Rain is expected to continue tomorrow until almost mid-day and then again tomorrow night.  The weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday looking like a washout and Sunday becoming sunny. Happy New Year!!!

Mornin'!  Happy New Year!  Happy 2020!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's crisp and clear (except for a huge cloud mass in my northerly sight of vision) and sunny.  It's heading Northeast and seems not to be bothering the island at the moment as bright sunshine is radiating into the front of my home quite nicely.  There's a breeze out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  The new year begins with a sunny, blue sky kind of day.  Expect plenty of sunshine, temps in the low-40s (feeling like mid-30s with the windchill) and breezes out of the W-NW at 18-23mph.  Tonight... clear, upper 30s and W-NW winds at 8-11mph.  Tomorrow... more sunshine, not as breezy and almost 50°!  Seems the new year's starting out okay in the weather department!
