It's Time To Say Good-bye September

Mornin'! This is it September...Con Te PartirĂ³!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got Ms Sun trying to shine through some morning clouds off the coast.  There are no breezes to note.  It's yet another lovely morning; near perfect if you ask me.  It'll be a repeat of yesterday with just a tiny bit cooler temps (low 70s), plenty of sunshine and breezes out of the E-SE at 5-7mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the mid-60s with S-SE breezes at 4-6mph.  September is leaving with some beautiful weather as October enters with the same!  Until next year!

September's Perfect Weather Goodbye Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  Blog's a bit late...slept in today.  Not to mention, it was a perfect morning to throw a homemade coffee cake in the oven first.  I'm enjoying a cup of coffee while enjoying the aroma of cinnamon.  Oh...and the windows are all wide open!  Today's weather...we've got ourselves a perfectly gorgeous morning.  Ms Sun's-a-blazing in a cloudless, blue sky.  No breezes to note.  And, the air is perfectly cooled.  It'll be a sneak peek to an Indian Summer day.  Research shows that the earliest known reference to "Indian Summer" occurred in an essay written in the US in the 1770s (first published in French) and was perhaps so-called because being first noted in regions inhabited by Native Americans who hunted in warm, hazy conditions.  It'll be a very pleasant day down the Shore with plentiful sunshine, temps in the low-mid 70s, breezes out of the W-NW at 5-7mph.  Tonight...clear, temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the N-NW at 9-11mph.  Tomorrow looks identical but a tad cooler.  This weekend will be perfect Indian Summer weather as we bid farewell to September!

Transitional Friday - Clouds Clearing Out

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover at the moment with humid (83%) and windy conditions (W-NW at 18-22mph +gusting up to 30mph).  The dark, ominous clouds are moving quickly north and clearing out right along the coast as I type.  We had some thunder boomers during the night and got a nice soaking. Everything's been watered nicely from the intense downpours.  Expect mostly cloudy conditions today with a 15% chance of rain this morning as clouds begin to clear out later allowing Ms Sun to begin to peek through by this afternoon. Temps will drop a bit into the low 70s.  Winds will simmer down too and continue to be out of the W-NW at 9-14mph.  Tonight...the clouds begin to clear out completely as we'll see the stars and moon again and feel the upper 60s in temperature with light breezes out of the N-NW at 3-5mph.  The jammed packed island activity weekend is still looking terrific with plenty of sunshine, light breezes and mild autumn temps in the low-mid 70s.

Gray With Wet On The Way

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Autumn's back!  It's cloudy and breezy (northerly winds at 10-12mph).  The clouds aren't going anywhere as it appears like rain showers are likely a little later today as temps rise up into the low 70s.  NE winds are heading toward us at 12-16mph.  Chance of rain is 15% early today and 60% later this afternoon.  Tonight...rain (90% chance) with NW winds at 11-14mph and temps in the mid-60s.  Tomorrow looks like more rain on tap.  Ending on a good note...the weekend's looking A-OK with blue skies, plenty of sunshine and temps in the 70s.  Perfect weather for the upcoming island events...Mid-Atlantic Police and Fire Survivors Weekend, Monster Truck Races, PT Cruisers Wild Thang Cars, Ed's Funcade Treasure Hunt and the WW Italian Fest!  Wildwood's still alive on the weekends here down the Shore!

Hump Day Mix

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly clear and partly cloudy/foggy.  The foggy haze is on the oceanside and the clear sky with the full moon (still shining) is on the bayside.  There's hardly a breeze S-SW at 2mph.  Ms Sun should break through this morning but it'll be partly cloudy and there's a slight chance of a shower this morning.  There's also a slight chance of showers and/or thunderstorms this afternoon (30% chance).  Temps will just about tap the 80° mark.  Breezes will be out of the S-SW at 7-9mph and will be much stronger if we should get a thunderstorm.  Tonight...low 70s, breezes out of the W-SW at 10-13mph and 40% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms.  We could even wake to rain tomorrow.  We're in this "chance of rain" pattern. Although yesterday turned into a beauty with no clouds or rain in sight.

Mostly Gray Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under cloud cover with stiff breezes out of the S-SE at 15-20mph w/gusting.  It's brighter than it's been as Ms Sun's trying to peek on through.  It feels warmer than it has been the last several days.  It's damp and humid 93% humidity and 71° dewpoint.  I've checked at least four weather reports and no one is on the same page so I'm placing my bets on a mostly cloudy day with peeks of sun and temps in the mid-upper 70s.  Two forecasts mentioned the chance of rain this afternoon (15-20% chance) but I'm not so sure about that as that's a pretty low percentage rate. One even mentioned tidal flooding with our saturated conditions and yesterday's Full Moon.   Everyone's on the same page reporting a breezy day on tap out of the S-SE at 15-20mph.  Tonight...cloudy with a 35-40% chance of a scattered rain shower and/or thunderstorm with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the S-SE at 8-12mph.  We'll probably wake to clouds tomorrow again as there's more of those spotty rain clouds in the weather mix again.

Full Moon Washout

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with breezes out of the E-NE at 20-25mph.  It's miserable.  There's a flood watch for our area today.  It rained all day yesterday and last night and these rains aren't going anywhere.  We're saturated. Plus, the full moon is expected to bring higher tides.  Watch for tidal flooding in low-lying areas and do your best not to drive through those salty, briny waters.  It truly does creepy things to the undercarriage of your vehicle.  It'll be a rainy day with temps barely tapping 70° and winds out of the East at 25-30mph +gusting.  Tonight...more of the same as rains are staying checked in throughout tomorrow.  Tonight's temps slide back to where they are now...mid 60s with those Easterly winds at 20-30mph.  We may see peeks of Sun by Wednesday and again on Saturday but this upcoming week looks pretty much like a gray and damp washout.  I'm calling it a "sweater weather" day.

An Autumn Feel

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  It really feels like Autumn this morning!  We've got the cooler temps, total cloud cover, light rain coming down and breezes out of the NE at 5-8mph.  The Humidity's 91% with a Dewpoint of 63°.  It's cool and refreshing outside (and inside) actually.  It's the kind of morning you feel like rolling over and staying in bed as the rains come down.  It'll be a wet one today with periods of rain (some heavy at times) throughout the day and evening (100% chance).  Temps will only go up a few degrees as I'm doubtful we'll even see the 70s today.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 12-15mph.  Tonight...more cloud cover, rains off and on (some heavy at times), temps in the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the E-NE at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same but windier.  Remember...the Full Moon is tomorrow and the high tides are without a doubt going to be much higher than normal.

Today's the Autumn Equinox!

Mornin'!  Happy Autumn!  Today marks the equinox which means "equal" meaning equal amount of daylight hours and equal amount of night hours (equal 12 hours of day and night today).  The Sun's placement is right above the equator leading to perfectly divided amounts of sunrise and sunset both in the east and west.  It happens twice a year...today and again in the Spring.
It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's peeking through some early morning cloud cover and it feels a bit on the humid side (86% humidity).  Breezes are out of the N-NE at 9-11mph.  The classic cars are lining up on the Boardwalk to display their classic beauty, the Wildwood's Downtown Farm Market is set up for their Fall sale (I'm sure there's still plenty of Jersey tomatoes still available).  The Vendors at the Irish Fest are set up on Old New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood and of course, Wildwood Crest is getting ready for its Seafarers Weekend along Sunset Lake.  Wildwood's happening this weekend with this first day of Fall!  It'll be a partly cloudy start to the day with Ms Sun trying to shine down most of the day.  Temps will be around where they are now...mid 70s with breezes out of the NE at 10-14mph.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with some almost full moon clear spots as temps begin to lower into the mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the E-NE at 10-13mph.  The overnight has 30% chance of rain in the forecast with 60% chance of rain tomorrow.  It's looking like a cool (lower 60s), breezy and wet day tomorrow.  The Full Moon is Monday and tides will be higher than normal.

Last Day Of Summer But A Big Weekend In Store

Mornin'!  It's 72° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  We've got a beautiful morning with plentiful sunshine, lower humidity (76%) and breezes off the ocean at S-SE at 10-15mph.  It'll be a lovely Friday and the last day of summer as the weekend has begun here on the island.  This weekend is a "biggie" with lots going on all over the island and already as I type, the classic cars are beginning the line up on the boardwalk for this Classic Car weekend display.  It's also the start to Irish weekend in North Wildwood as the vendors are setting up too.  Tomorrow begins the Seafarers Fest in Wildwood Crest and the Fall Fest in Wildwood. The island's alive (check out the Webcams of the island). You can hear the action from afar.  Today's weather will be mostly sunny with clouds in the mix and temps in the mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the S-SE at 15-20mph.  Tonight...clear, temps down into the low 70s and S-SW winds at 17-25mph.  Tomorrow...some cloud cover due in with partly sunny skies, light breezes and temps basically repeating todays mid 70s.  Sunday...mostly cloudy with rain due in by mid-day.  So until next year...See ya Summer!

Feeling Fallish

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and breezy (E-NE at 10-15mph).  Humidity's down...85% with a dewpoint of 65°.  It'll be a cloudy start to the day although Ms Sun's trying to shine and provide a lovely, colorful display of sunrise colors.  She'll eventually break on through as it's supposed to become partly sunny by this afternoon with temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the E-NE at 10-12mph.  Feeling a bit like Autumn...2 days away!  Speaking of 2 days away...the weekend's weather...we could see some sunshine along with rain showers off and on Saturday (mostly later in the day) as Sunday still looks like more of a washout.  Today though...not too shabby.

Lovely Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies as dawn approaches.  Breezes are very light out of the N-NW at 3-6mph.  Everything's watered and wet outside this morning from yesterday afternoon and last night's watering (we had some torrential, street-flooding rains).  It feels a bit humid as the humidity's 87% with a dewpoint of 67° but according to all the forecasts, that will drop down to more comfortable levels today.  Ms Sun is also due in today and will inevitably dry things out as temps rise near 80°.  Breezes will be out of the N-NW and shift by late this morning/early afternoon from the N-NE at 9-12mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  The weekend's now looking "eh" as a rain system is once again heading our way as we may likely see showers by Saturday night (40% chance) and the rain clouds seem to want to stay checked in right through until Sunday evening.  We may have the Luck of Irish and see no rain at all though!  Who knows?  I do know that it's Full Moon Time again and that's this coming Monday.

Last of the Crapola Days!

Mornin'!  It's 76° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with breezes out of the SW at 10-20mph.  It's humid...94% with a dewpoint of 75°.  Everything's wet and damp and that's including inside my home!  It seems like we've been in the "soup" for quite a while.  I may be turning the AC back on.  The humidity and dampness will continue throughout today as we're looking at a mostly gray, humid and wet day with 80% chance of precipitation (showers and/or thunderstorms beginning later this morning / early afternoon).  Southerly winds will also be on tap at 10-15mph.  Temps will just barely tap 80°.  Tonight...more rain...80% chance.  Temps down to around 70° with West winds at 8-11mph.  It looks like beginning tomorrow some very lovely weather is headed our way as we begin to dry out.  At least until Sunday night.   It's the North Wildwood Irish Fall Festival this coming weekend as well as the Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration and Wildwood Fall Festival and Classic Car Show...as this upcoming lovely weather is holding out for some nice down the shore weekend fun.

Gray Start

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  The blog's a bit later as I decided to do some things before sitting at the computer.  One thing was an early morning bike ride on the boardwalk.  Then, walk the pooch.  Then, collect and put the trash to the curb (trash day).  The bike ride was terrific (not to mention it's my new bike which handles like a charm)!  It seemed like I was the only one on the boardwalk as there was hardly any folk up and about.  Only two stores were open...an eatery and a bike rental (Dunkin Donuts which never closes was CLOSED).  So, I caught a pretty decent sunrise (My Instagram) but it'll definitely be a cloudy start to the week.  It's currently cloudy with humidity hanging around (humidity's 87% with a dewpoint of 74°).  The breezes are light out of the E-SE at 10-13mph.  Just perfect for some wind resistance when bike peddling.  Today will be mostly cloudy and no forecasts are mentioning peeks of sunshine.  In fact, there's a 30% chance of showers by later afternoon / early evening.  Temps may tap 80° with breezes picking up out of the SE at 15-18mph +gusting.  Tonight...cloudy with 60% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms as temps drop back to where they are now...low-mid 70s.  We'll probably see rain overnight and into the start to tomorrow.  So far, no mention of any major remnants of Hurricane Florence.  It appears she's headed Northwest of us.

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining!  Humidity's much lower (84% - dewpoint of 69°) and there's a breeze off the ocean (E-NE at 15-18mph).  It's a perfectly lovely start to the day with seagulls in the neighborhood expressing their pleasure at this beauty of a morning.  It'll be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies (some clouds and haze in the mix) as temps rise just a bit to the mid-70 with E-NE breezes at 17-22mph +gusting.  Tonight...clear, low 70s and E-NE breezes at 10-12mph.  Tomorrow... more clouds in the mix and humidity creeping back up into the 90%.

TGIF

Mornin!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and misty with major winds wifting (wafting) over the island as I type (E-NE 18-22mph w/gusting).  Everything's damp and wet outside not to mention the 96% humidity in the air.  It's now looking like a mostly cloudy/gray weekend with plenty of cloud cover and heavy wind-driven mist and fog.  In fact, we'll probably wake to rain as the clouds probably won't move over until late in the day tomorrow.  Two forecasts I've checked are saying Sunday will actually have a mix of clouds and sun!  Today...heavy clouds with winds out of the E-NE at 20-22mph and add to that 50-60% chance of rain by this afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-70s with humidity in the 90s and dewpoint in the mid-70s.  Tonight...50-60% chance of isolated thunderstorms / rain showers with temps in the low 70s and winds out of the E-NE at 15-22mph.  This week's been real crapola weather and I feel for those vacationing here on the island.  I feel even more empathy for those in the Carolinas who are experience the wrath of Hurricane Florence right now...440,000 are currently without power there.  Prayers for you!

Tropical Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy, wet and damp outside from overnight showers and those still humid conditions (humidity's 97% / dewpoint 74°) covering the island.  We're in "tropical mode" this week and there's no dry end in sight yet. This morning it's breezy with winds out of the E-NE at 12-16mph w/gusts. At least we did have some blue skies with sunshine yesterday (just along the coast) helping to dry us out a bit.  It'll be a gray day (no forecast has the sun shining down or peeking in today in Wildwood) with 20-40% chance of rain showers this afternoon as temps climb up just a bit to the upper 70s.  E-NE breezes will be in the mix today as well at 15-20mph.  Tonight...60% chance of showers with temps back down into the low 70s and breezes out of the E-NE 17-22mph.  Tomorrow looks like a repeat of today but Saturday and Sunday appear to have Ms Sun back shining through some cloud cover!  Oh...and by the way...the Morey's "Beach Jam" as well as "Boots at the Beach" have been cancelled this weekend due to the weather (all the Bars will be open for business though).

Humid Hump

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  It's another repeat of yesterday morning...very still (no breezes) and foggy and drippy outside.  The humidity's way up there at 95% with a dewpoint of 76°.  Cobwebs are coated in moisture beads and displayed everywhere you look in the gardens.  I feel like my entire property is coated in wet, glimmering cobwebs.  Green moss is growing on my deck as I type from all this moisture. All my screens and windows are covered in a film of moisture.  I can't recall the last time we had a dry, crisp morning.  It's just amazing how much humidity we've had as of late.  I guess this is what a tropical rainforest feels like...saturated.  It'll be a humid, warm day with temps just tapping the 80s and partial sunshine / partial cloud cover.  Breezes will be out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...partly clear and humid with temps where they are now (mid-70s) and breezes still out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow could start out with thunderstorms early and then simply repeat today's weather.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday we'll be feeling the effects (winds and rain) from Hurricane Florence.  Preparedness is key...hunker down.  I'm thinking our tidal flooding won't be anything near what we just had last weekend but I'm not ruling out major windy conditions.  I'm keeping a close watch.

9-11

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  We're in the soup with heavy fog.  Humidity's 97% with a Dewpoint of 74°.  It feels like you could cut the air and moisture with a knife.  Everything's soaked and dripping wet.  No breezes to note.  It's still and quiet (except for the sound of dripping everywhere).  It'll be partly cloudy (possibly peeks of sun later but I'm not so sure about that) with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the S-SE at 7-9mph.  There's a 30% chance of rain showers this afternoon.  Tonight...partly cloudy with 60% chance of showers, temps in the mid-70s and breezes out of the SE at 4-6mph.  We had no more major tidal flooding yesterday or last night (small amounts along the curbs) thankfully although the flood sirens were blaring notifying those of us left on the island (and it appears hardly any in my neighborhood) to move the vehicles to higher/safer ground.  Tomorrow appears like a full-on sunny day and may be the last one until next week. At this point, any effects from Hurricane Florence (currently heading to the Carolina coast which are undergoing an evacuation as I type) will probably be felt with high surf and winds throughout this coming weekend in Wildwood.  As we remember and commemorate the victims and families of 9/11 today, I also acknowledge and take pride in being married to my wonderful, loving husband of 47 years!  Also, to my daughter and her husband sharing our wedding anniversary and celebrating 8 years of wedded bliss today!

Monday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ. It's raining lightly.  It's still very windy E-NE at 25-35mph. Humidity's 96% with a Dewpoint of 67°.  Jeez what a mess of things out there.  Thanks to this incredible, relentless Nor'easter, I've got my work cut out for me this morning.  We had some serious new-moon, wind-driven flooding in my neck of the woods last night.  I'm talking water in my shed, floating trashcans, storage bins, flower pots, chairs and boogie board with broken branches/leaves etc. all over the yard. My vehicle thankfully made out okay (no water inside as the flood waters were just tapping my hubcaps).  Speaking of "thankfully" after taking outside inventory, we came away basically unscathed.  It's just dirty with sxxx everywhere.  It'll be a cloudy, wet (plenty of rain on tap), windy, damp start to the day but Ms Sun does plan on making an afternoon appearance as temps climb back into the mid-upper 70s.  Winds will calm down as well S-SE 13-20mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the mid-70s and breezes out of the S-SE 9-11mph.  Tomorrow...more sunshine and warmer temps with much less in the "breeze" department.  We're still watching for this ol' Florence who has her sights on the bottom of the North Carolina coast for the end of this week and weekend.

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and misty and windy.  Winds are strong (E-NE) at 25-35mph +gusting.  Humidity's 85% with a Dewpoint of 64°.  When I stepped outside this morning, all my giant zinnias were down for the count and I just secured and tied them all up getting a nice salty sloughing myself.  The Willow is getting a nice pruning too.  It's a bit rough out there.  I can only imagine what the ocean's doing.  It was crashing over the seawall last night as per some videos posted.  Wildwood365 posted videos on Instagram and Facebook if you want to check it out.  It'll be a miserable day with plenty of cloud cover and winds staying ramped up as temps just tap 70°.  Expect periods of rain showers and/or thunderstorms (50-70% chance) all throughout the day and night.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 30-35mph +gusting.  Also, expect tidal flooding and beach erosion as these NE (offshore) winds will relentlessly push the ocean angrily onto the island.  Also, today's a New Moon and along with the Full Moon are the highest tides of the month.  Take precautions if in a flood area.  Move vehicles if in a flood area (the flood sirens have been blaring for your information) and try not to drive through salty tidewater as it's a major corrosive.  Tonight...just about the same forecast as today...temps where they are now, clouds, rains, and very strong winds. Unfortunately, tomorrow looks like more of the same.  This Hurricane (actually it's a tropical storm) "Florence" is still churning in the Atlantic with its sights on the Carolinas (anywhere from Wilmington to Charleston) somewhere near the end of the week (possibly Thursday) may be hitting landfall.  I'm just keeping an eye and an ear on anything that comes in.  Be safe out there today especially all the Bikers who are traversing these windy, wet roads out of here.
High tide:8:14a.m. and 8:31p.m.
Low tide:2:06p.m.

Roar To The Shore Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover.  We've got wind (NE 18-20mph).  It's humid (90%) with 73° dewpoint but surprisingly more comfortable outside.  It's a typical biker weekend down the Shore.  It'll be mostly cloudy with 30-50% chance of rain showers and/or thunderstorms off and on today with temps just barely tapping the 70s.  Breezes will remain "winds" out of the N-NE at 20-25mph.  We may seek a peek of sun or two but I'm going with full-on cloud cover today.  Tonight...cloudy and windy (E-NE 20-25mph) with temps in the low-mid 70s.  Tomorrow...still gray and even windier (E-NE 30mph sustained) with more rain showers in the forecast (50-70% chance).
High tide:7:22a.m. and 7:41p.m.
Low tide:1:12p.m.
Ocean temp:77°
Sunset:7:21p.m.
UV Index: 5 (low-med)
Rip Currents: Red Zone (High risk) A high risk means dangerous potentially life-threatening conditions exist for anyone entering the surf!
Speaking of "potentially"...there is a new hurricane out in the Atlantic titled "Florence" and she appears to be potentially headed for the east coast of the United States.  It's too far out to determine where she's going to land but we're watching!  We're watching!

TGIF!

Enjoy the sunshine as it looks like it'll be obscured for most of the day beginning a little later this morning.  Most reports coming in are saying it'll be mostly cloudy today once this morning sunshine clears out.  There's a 20-50% chance of scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms throughout the mostly gray day and evening.  Temps will be in the upper 70s possibly tapping the 80s as breezes commence out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...cloudy with a 20-30% chance of rain showers, temps in the mid-70s with breezes out of the NE at 7-9mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same with 50-70% chance of rain.  Sunday...even more of the same (20-30% chance of showers) but add to that 22-28mph winds coming out of the E-NE.  Mostly gray and partially wet weekend (they usually are) for the Bikers.

One More of The Heatwave

Mornin'!  It's 81° in Wildwood NJ.  The Blog's a bit late (almost didn't happen) with extra responsibilities as of late (helping hubby after his knee surgery 11 days ago).  It's sunny and warm and humid.  Humidity's 91% with a Dewpoint of 77°.  No breezes to note.  Took the pooch for a walk after my shower and I'm soaked with sweat already.   It'll be another warm one (appears like the last of the heat wave warm ones according to the forecasts).  Temps will be near 90° with humidity up there. Breezes will begin wifting (wafting) over the island from the South at 9-11mph.  There's a 15% chance of a passing thunderstorm this afternoon.  Tonight...clear with temps in the mid-70s and breezes out of the S-SW at 9-11mph.
High tide:5:46p.m.
Low tide:11:17a.m.
Ocean temp:77°
Sunset:7:24p.m.
UV Index:8-9 high
Rip Currents: Moderate. Dip very carefully in the ocean today as lifeguards will be at designated streets (check Tuesday's blog) and "moderate" current means the waters will pull you.  Swim only where there are lifeguards, never alone and never at night.

Any Hazy Hot And Humid HumpDay!

Mornin'!  It's 79° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and warm and humid when stepping outside this morning.  No breezes to note.  Humidity's still way up there at 91% with a dewpoint of 75°.  It'll be pretty much a repeat of yesterday with Ms Sun pouring down through the haze heating things up with humidity heavy and temps in the upper 80s / low 90s (we hit 94° yesterday in the shade).  Breezes will eventually come and out of the SE (cooler ocean breeze) at 4-6mph.  It's a perfect beach day!  Tonight...clear with temps back into the mid-70s and breezes out of the S-SE at 9-13mph.  Should be a lovely evening to sit out and enjoy the salty air!
It's "Biker Weekend" coming up and the Harley folk will begin arriving soon (today and tomorrow) and this warm, tropical beach weather will begin to fade after tomorrow as cooler, unfortunately, wetter weather is on the menu for the weekend.  Just saying.

Day After Labor Day and The Summer Fun Continues

Mornin'!  It's 78° in Wildwood NJ.  It's hazy, warm and humid with no breezes to note.  Humidity's 93% with a Dewpoint of 76°.  It'll be hazy, hot and humid today as we continue to heat up in this next heatwave.  Temps will tap 90° and may even be in the low 90s as we plug along in the hot soup. The heat index (what it'll feel like) will be 100°.  It'll be mostly sunny (hazy) with some clouds in the mix.  Very light breezes will begin later this morning / early afternoon out of the W-SW at 5-7mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 70s, still humid (93%) and breezes out of the S-SW at 4-6mph.  There's a slight (15%) chance of a passing thunderstorm throughout the day but I'd say tomorrow is more likely as this heat and humid continues to build up.  There are still plenty of folks hanging around today this day after "the season".  It'll be a perfect beach day actually (keep the insect repellent nearby though with those "westerly" breezes) as those who remained here on the island have a lovely tropical day down the Shore.

The beaches will have limited lifeguard services now that Labor Day is over.  Here are some of the schedules...
The Wildwood Beach Patrol will be guarded throughout 9/4-9/9 at the following streets: Hildreth to Hand, Andrew to Baker, Garfield to Lincoln and Pine to Poplar.  All beaches are guarded on the upcoming weekends. There will no longer be beach patrols on duty after 9/11.  Call 911 in the event of an emergency.  It's not wise to swim when the beaches are not guarded.
The North Wildwood Beach Patrol has limited coverage after Labor Day with 5th, 10th, 15th, 18th and 22nd Avenues only having guarded beaches.  Ocean and Surf Avenues will NOT have any lifeguards or be protected.  A response team will be available for emergency calls on the weekends 9/15 and 9/22 (609-522-7500).
The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol will have lifeguards on Buttercup-Lavender, Rosemary-ForgetMeNot, Stockton-Stanton, Toldedo-Denver and Trenton-Neward Avenues.  Lifeguard coverage concludes on 9/9/18. Response teams will be available on the weekends of 9/15 and 9/22 by calling 609-522-3825.
All beach patrols urge everyone to swim only near lifeguards, never alone, never a night.

Happy Labor Day!

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Labor Day!  We've got plenty of sunshine this morning with lots of humidity thrown in (92% and a dewpoint of 75°).  It's still with hardly a breeze (SW 2-4mph).  It'll be mostly sunny, warm and humid today with temps in the mid-upper 80s and S-SW breezes at 4-7mph switching later this afternoon from the SE at 9-11mph.  There is a slight chance (15%) of a passing scattered thunderstorm this afternoon.  Tonight...clear with temps back into the mid-70s and Southerly breezes at 7-10mph.  This is it!  The "official" end of Summer is today.  The weather feels like Summer's staying checked in but all the roads leading out of here (and all the Shore points) will be packed to the gills all throughout the day and evening as the Summer folk (Shoobies) pack it all in and head home for the Fall, Winter and Spring.  Safe travels and until next June...au revoir!

Mostly Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny!  We just had a cluster of cloudy days with rain (heavy at times), thunderstorms and even some decent flooding in the streets yesterday.  It's drying out as Ms Sun's doing her thing.  No breezes to note.  It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps just tapping 80° and breezes commencing from the E-SE at 9-11mph.  There's is a 15-25% chance of a passing shower later this morning and early afternoon.  Tonight...mostly clear, temps in the mid-70s with breezes out of the S-SE at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same.  The season's definitely closing down.  It's packed on the island as parking spaces are scarce.  Late last night as I sat alone on my back porch, the neighborhood had quieted down but I could hear the island all around me.  I heard the screams on the rides and various sounds of music everywhere in the distance.  There was a lot of foot traffic and laughing and folks just enjoying the vacation scene.  I began to realize that this will be all gone in only hours.  Labor Day usually marks the end of the summer vacation season.  It's not over though as the lovely warm weather will continue for at least another month.  It's basically down to weekend crowds after Labor Day.  But those choosing this time of year for their R and R, it's considered "The Jewel" and it'll be just that this upcoming week.  Happy Labor Day Weekend!

September's Arrived!

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy September!  The "Jewel" has arrived.  Sun's up but not shining down this morning.  I don't think she's even attempting to shine down.   At the moment, it's ominous and gray with the sounds of thunder in the distance.  It's very breezy with Easterly (off the ocean) breezes at 15-20mph.  Humidity's at 95% with a Dewpoint of 72°.  Expect a little variety of weather this weekend.  Today's the less sunny and mostly cloudy day of the weekend.  It'll be cloudy with peeks of sun by late afternoon.  There's a 30-40% chance of thunderstorms and/or showers throughout entire the day.  Temps should hover around where they are now (mid-upper 70s) with E-SE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy, humid with 20-30% chance of rain, temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the SE at 9-11mph.  Tomorrow looks mostly sunny and warm but there's still a chance of some cloud cover and a passing thunderstorm. Monday...we're in the clear as the blue sky belongs to Ms Sun with another heatwave beginning to build up for next week when everybody's back home and island really kicks off The Jewel!
