Arrivederci May!

The Skipper at Two Mile Landing
Entering Wildwood Crest

Mornin'!  It's 67° this very drippy morn!  Until next year...thank you May for a great month and some of the best weather this year! At the moment, it sounds like it's raining outside as the fog's moisture has soaked everything (tree leaves and branches, canvas awnings, railings etc.) as all is dripping big time this early morn. It'll be the "pick of the week" this last day of May. This dense fog is becoming very bright as the sun's doing its best to brighten things up first thing this morning.  WW will have plenty of sun all day today.  It'll be less humid as winds will wift (I mean waft) over us from the NW first then shift from the South later all at 10-15mph.  Temps will reach the upper 70's.  Just another perfect day in May.  Arrivederci!

Hump Day!

Mornin'!  It's 68° in WW.  Sun's up but the clouds are partially obscuring it.  The sky looks pretty though as it's full of brilliant colors.   Winds are null and void at the moment but will begin blowing a bit later this morning out of the W-NW at 10-15mph then shifting this afternoon from the SE bringing some cooler temperatures.  It's going to feel cooler and less humid (it's humid this morning) and in the mid-upper 70's for most of the day as it'll turn much cooler tonight.  There's a 60% chance of showers into this evening as the clouds are staying checked in.  Not so perfect hump day but perfection is back tomorrow! 21 days until Summer!

Bonus Day!

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood.  Ms. sun just rose.  No leaves are moving on the trees.  It's gonna be another warm one on the island and if you're lucky enough to have an extra day at the seashore...it's your bonus day.  It'll be tapping the 80° mark again and be warm and humid as the winds will be out of the SW (later shifting off-shore) at 10-20mph.  There's a chance of a thunderstorm around sunset.  No airconditioner on yet, but it doesn't mean the thought hasn't crossed my mind more than once.  Another thought that's crossed my mind...if it's this warm Memorial weekend, what the hell is the 4th of July weekend going to be?  High tide: 2:45p.m.; Low tide:8:20a.m.; Ocean temp: 65°; Sunset: 8:19p.m.

Warmest of the Weekend

Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to my hubby today♥! Happy Memorial Day 2012! A tip of the hat to all those who have served our country.  Thank you.  It's 71° this warmish Wildwood morn.  Sun's trying to shine, but clouds are winning out at the moment.  Clouds will eventually lose out as it'll be mostly sunny and the warmest one of the holiday weekend as temps tap the 80° mark.  Winds will be out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Pretty much like yesterday but a wee bit more humid and warmer.  Let the exodus begin.

The Holiday Weekend Loveliness Continues

Mornin'!  It's 68° in WW this morning.  Sun's up and there's not a cloud in the sky as it's another perfectly, lovely day at the Shore.  It'll be a tad on the warmer side but dry and a bit humid as temps could just tap the 80° mark.  That ol' seabreeze continues to cool us off coming more out of the South at 10mph.  Looks pretty much the same for tomorrow but even warmer for the holiday.  There's a chance of a pop-up thunderstorm late today but everywhere I've checked said we're too far south to be affected by them.  Fog could develop tonight which is perfect in my opinion.  Went to the beach yesterday and while sitting relaxing under my umbrella... if I said it once, I said it 15 times, "I can't believe how many people are on this beach today."  It's one thing to see this island completely jammed packed, but the beach and even the ocean was loaded.  It was completely reminiscent of a hot July 4th weekend.  Like someone came to this sleepy, pretty much "dead" town and hit the big, neon switch "Open For Business."  You know..."If you build it; they'll come."  My motto is, "If you can't beat them, join them."  See you at the beach today!  Oh...sunblock...don't forget the sunblock.

It's the Kick Off! Thanks to All who have Served!!!

Mornin'!  It's a perfect 66° in Wildwood as the island stirs.  The sun is up and shining away without a cloud in the sky.  I can hear seagulls laughing, non-stop yapping neighborhood dogs, some neighbors are out on their porches talking and laughing loudly while big SUV's with their boats hitched bumping noisily down the street heading toward the boat ramp. There's giant kites floating over the beach as I gaze toward the sea from my porch.  Memorial Day services are being readied.  We're alive and livin la vida loca baby.  There's a lovely seabreeze wifting (I mean wafting) in all the front windows.  The Wildwood's Memorial weekend is kicking off with some perfectly, gorgeous weather.  It'll hit the mid 70's with Southerly seabreezes taking the steamy edge off all of us all weekend long.  Same for tomorrow.  Same for Monday (albeit warmer).  One word: Sunblock.

Happy Memorial Weekend

Mornin'!  Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  Let's keep all those who've served this country on the forefront of our minds as this weekend's really all about them.  Thanks to you all.  Even though it's the Friday of Memorial Weekend, the party has started as the island's beginning to bulge ever so slightly plus Keenan's is serving up eggs while tapping their kegs as I type. I'm making today the official start to the holiday weekend.  It's going to be a beauty too.  Today...ditto on yesterday and pretty much the same for Sunday.  That is...each day will begin with mid-60's temps, temps reaching the low-mid 70s's, patchy morning fog, mix of clouds and sun, chance of a pop-up thunderstorms, breezes off the sea (SE) at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow will be a bit different albeit more pleasant with warmer temps and less clouds and more sun (don't forget sunblock) and no rain.  It's all good.  There's so much going on in Wildwood this weekend...you'll have to check it out yourself.  http://www.wildwoodsnj.com/ and http://www.capemaycountyherald.com/ is chock full of event coverage.  Be safe and have fun everyone!

Ditto

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  Sun's up but the sky and horizon are overcast with a bunch of clouds so it's looking a tad on the gray side for yet another start to the day.  The morning will continue to have patchy fog and as Ms. Sun does her best to burn it off, there will be periods of hazy sunshine.  I'm thinking more ditto of yesterday as it'll be mainly dry, partly cloudy and/or partly sunny today with a 30% chance of a rain shower/pop-up thunderstorm. Seabreezes will be out of the SE at 10-15mph as temps just tap 70°.  It'll be "ditto" for tomorrow too.  But, Saturday...still looking like a nice one; the nicest of Memorial Weekend 2012!

Staying Unsettled

Mornin'!  It's 62° in WW.  Happy Hump Day!  Happy "World Turtle Day"  It's going to start out with morning patchy fog and begin to clear as the day progresses.  Breaks of clouds will provide some peeks of sunshine.  It'll be more dry than wet however, there's a 30% chance of rain showers or afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Temps will tap the 70° mark.  Winds will be out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  Weekend's beginning to look a bit unsettled as well.  Saturday's looking like the most pleastant of the Holiday weekend.  I'm still on it.

Get your turtle costumes or jewelry out today to support the tortoises of the world! "World Turtle" day was created as an annual observance to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world. World Turtle Day was started to increase respect and knowledge for the world’s oldest creatures.  (I just found out that a Turtle I know savors "red leaf" lettuce.) These gentle animals have been around for about 200 million years, yet they are rapidly disappearing as a result of the exotic food industry, habitat destruction and the cruel pet trade. Each of us can just be aware and do a few small things that can help to save turtles and tortoises for the next generation. Never buy a turtle or tortoise from a pet shop as it increases demand from the wild. Never remove turtles or tortoises from the wild unless they are sick or injured. If a tortoise is crossing a road or street, pick it up and send it in the same direction it was going – if you try to make it go back, it will turn right around again.  Sounds like some people I know.

More Gray Today

Mornin'!  It's 62° under drizzly skies this gray, very wet morning.  Temps will get a few degrees higher (upper 60°s today) as the drizzlies continue (50% chance).  Speaking of chances...thunderstorms could make their presence known after lunchtime.  There's an off-shore breeze at the moment from the E-NE at 10mph and will shift up a bit this afternoon from the E-SE.  The rest of the week isn't looking as gray and ominous, but will have its rainy moments.  On a good note...the weekend continues to look brighter and brighter.  Yay!

Staying gray today

Mornin'!  It's 61° this overcast, dark, damp, and dreary morning in WW.  It's another one of the damp bed linen days.  Even though it's not raining at the moment, everything outside (including some things inside) is wet with sea air and the overnight fog.  Temps will get a bit higher into the upper 60's but it'll stay gray today.  95% chance of showers throughout the day as well as a possibility of thunderstorms right into this evening.  Winds will persist out of the East at 15-20mph.  More crapola day than a beach day that's for sure.  I'm keeping watch for the weekend weather...which is looking ½ + ½ and I'm not talking creamer.

Brisk Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood this breezy, brisk, gray morning.  Not sure about the sun today although all the forecasters I've researched are saying mostly sunny today.  It's brightening up but Ms. Sun hasn't quite checked in yet.  Temps won't get a whole lot warmer as they're supposed to hit the mid (maybe high) 60's.  Clouds will increase (that's all we got at the moment though) as the day progresses bringing along rain showers by this evening.  We also got breezes...15mph out of the Northeast (we're talking a stiff seabreeze) at the moment with gusting at 30+mph.  These clouds rolling over us today will increase and stick around most of the day and upcoming week by the way.  One forecaster said that it won't be a complete washout, but it's looking like the possibility of rain all week long.  The question is do we pack the parkas next weekend?  I'll find out.  Oh...the reason for no blog yesterday...5 words..."too much fun Friday night" if you get my drift!

Weekend's fast approaching

Sunset Seat at the Coconut Cover
Mornin'!  It's 54° in WW.  Loverboy's "Everybody's working for the Weekend" won't leave my music mind.  But, it is an oldie but goodie to get those weekend juices flowing.  Plus, it seems to work for me.  I'm going to do everything I can to keep "Last Dance" out of my music mind today...although RIP Donna Summer!  Loved her.   One more weekend and the show begins.  That is...the island becomes a population from 15,000 to 300,000!  (I guess the weather will be a determining factor too). Bring it I say.  Ok...let's talk weekend weather shall we?  The sun just rose and is pouring in the front windows. It'll be mostly sunny today with mild conditions albeit cooler and breezier than the mainland.  Temperatures will rise into the mid-upper 60's.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 15mph (they're 7-9mph at the moment) and later will gust a bit at 20-25mph.  It'll be pretty much the same tomorrow but a bit more cloudy.  The clouds will filter in all day tomorrow and continue to do so until Sunday when rain is a possibility (for now it's 30% chance).  Isn't sounding like great beach weather but the Scouts won't back down and will continue to camp there all weekend long for their Beach Jam.

Looking Good

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood this early morn.  It's cloudy, dry, and still at the moment.  It'll become mostly sunny with some clouds in the mix today.  Temperatures will just about tap the 70° mark.  Looks like a seasonably mild day as we begin to direct our attention to the weekend.  I know the boy scouts and girl scouts are keeping a close eye on the weather as they plan to pitch tents on our beaches and camp there for the Beach Jam. So far, the weekend's looking just as nice I'm happy to report!  Breezes aren't happening at the moment but will begin to pick up this morning cooling the island down a tad coming from the North at 10-15mph; then shifting from the NE off the sea and picking up at 15-20mph with some minor gusting. Nothing like a nice cool seabreeze in the afternoon.

Hump Day!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in WW this hump day morning.  There's been some lovely, overnight Fog that's still settled over the island.  It's supposed to burn off this morning and become partly sunny today.  However, a possible "pop-up" thunderstorm (their words; not mine) may occur this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the low-mid 70's today as a SW breeze at 10mph wifts (I mean wafts) over us.  Doesn't sound too bad today after those torrents yesterday.  Whew, Wildwood was-a-flooding yesterday morning as it rained harder than a bull pissing on a flat rock.  His words; not mine.  By the way, so far the weekend's looking pretty nice...as the sun will be checked in along with pleasant temperatures.

Duck Weather

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  It's another one of those mornings that everything seems damp in the house...bedding, slippers, curtains etc.  That is if you kept your windows open throughout the night which I did.  The sea air and dampness has provided lots of moisture everywhere...ya know..."duck weather".  Shut the windows today though as it'll be very wet all day today.  It's drizzling outside at the moment and will be damp, drab, and dreary throughout the entire day today as clouds and rain along with a possible thunderstorm later will prevail.  Temps will be in the mid-high 60's as the S-SE seabreezes will be blowing in at 15mph with 20-25mph gusts.  We're talking another bad hair day.  Tomorrow...warmest day of the week at the shore and beginning to clear as the sun is going to do its best to beat out those clouds and shine on.

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  It's gray, a tad breezy and raining lightly.  Winds are out of the South at 9-12mph and will pick up and shift by late this afternoon from the SE at 20-35mph.  We'll have sporadic rain showers all along the way today and tonight right into tomorrow.  Sun's supposed to check back in on Wednesday. Temps will stay in the high 60's today.  Look at it this way...all of our lovely gardens will be getting a nice watering.  Speaking of gardens...yesterday, for the first time I noticed tiny little baby grapes on a grape vine I've been nurturing for 4 years.  Years ago, when I visited a local vineyard, I pocketed a few grapes and planted their seeds.  This is the very first year I've seen fruit.  I had faith it would happen someday! My grapevine along with my rose garden which is also beginning to bloom truly warms my heart!

Happy Mothers Day!

Mornin'!  Happy Mothers Day!  Salute to you if you're a Momma reading this!  Here's to you! Do something for yourself today.  And, hopefully whatever it is, you're doing it at the Shore!  It's 59° and lovely and slightly breezy in WW this morning.  Slept in a bit as hubby sneaked over to visit Mrs. Britton today at Britton's bakery in WW Crest!  I had warm apple fritters waiting for me when I woke this morning.  Now, that's a great Mothers Day opener...sea air in the porch windows and Mrs. Britton's warm apple fritters on the kitchen counter!  Perfection.  If you're in Wildwood and have never had a Britton's apple fritter...are you in for one of the sweetest treats of your life.  The sugar rush is carrying me away...focus...back to the weather.   It's 59° and heading to 70° again today.  It'll be partly sunny (some clouds are checking in today) and dry and mild.  Breezes begin out of the SW and shift from the South later at 10-15mph.  More clouds than yesterday but no rain until after midnight.

A Lovely Weekend for the Mommas

Mornin'!  It's 63° this not so early morn.  Not early for me as I've had other commitments before blogging today.  While out and about before 7a.m., I was enjoying the lovliness of the island and the mainland.  I'm sure alot of other folks are too as the island's picking up with extra guys and dolls checked in.  Wildwood's coming alive.  Traffic is a bit thicker.  Wawa's jumping.  Tom Cat's back up and running and jumping as I drove by.  I was tempted to go in and have me some breakfast but waited until I got home to enjoy a wonderful Wildwood bagel. http://www.wildwoodhotbagels.com/ It's a beauty out there and the plan is to get back out there.  Sun's out; salt and sea are in the air; a light Westerly breeze is wifting (I mean wafting) over the island.  It's going up into the mid 70's today as the sun pours down all day.  Winds will sustain at 10-15mph and shift later from the West to the SW.  Tomorrow looks pretty much the same although a bit cooler with some sporadic clouds in the mix.  Ahh....nature's loving its mommas! What a gift!
btw...all week Key West stays in my heart and mind and that's where this week's shots are from.  Who knows, maybe next week's too!

Wrapping it up

Mornin'!  It's 55° this morning.  Ms. Sun just made it across the horizon and will stick around all day.  We're wrapping up the week with a beauty as it will be dry, mild and sunny with temps just tapping the 70° mark.  Winds will still be breezing about at 10-20mph with some gusting, first from the NW, then the WNW, then wrapping up the day out of the WSW.  The weekend's looking like much of the same I'm happy to report but without the breezes.  Sunday looks like it may have some clouds rolling in but it'll still be a nice, mild, Spring day for all the Mommas.

Dreary to Bright

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood.  Even though the sun just rose, it's dreary and gray this early morn as the clouds are keeping it at bay.  Like yesterday, everything's drippy and wet outside but not raining at the moment.  With the lingering morning clouds, we could see a sprinkle, but the sun's going to show itself before our lunchbreak. My bet...no more rain today.  That big ol' sun will probably continue to shine brightly right through Mother's Day weekend too. Temps will be in the mid-high 60's today with brisk winds out of the NW at 15-20mph with 25+mph gusts.  Could use a little sun shining today even through bad hair!

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood.  It's overcast and breezy and not raining at the moment, but everything's damp outside.  Some things are even slightly damp inside (my fuzzy slippers were when I slipped into them).  Ah...island living!  It'll stay around the low 60's today as the rains hang out most of the day and evening.  The coast may see more periods of rainfall and showers than the mainland.  Winds will be out of the S-SW at 10-15mph with some minor gusts.

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood.  The sun's just crossed the horizon and the sky looks gorgeous with all its lovely pastel colors.  Temps will stay around the 60° mark today as the clouds try and squeeze this lovely, dry, Spring day into a rainy evening.  By nightfall, the rain should be checking in for a couple overnighters. Winds will be out of the South at 15-20mph with 30+mph gusts.  By late Thursday...the sun will have checked in for the weekend.

I'm home!

Mornin'! It's 57° in WW this morning.  Sun's up and at the moment...bright and clear.  Winds are out of the SE at 10-15mph (with minor gusting) and will stay there all day.  Temps will just be tapping the 60° mark.  Clouds are rolling in making it partly sunny/partly cloudy (your choice) today as a rainy system is headed this way by tomorrow into Thursday.  It's looking like Monday and Friday are the sunny, nice bookend days to this week.  High tide: 9:51a.m.; Low tide: 3:53p.m.; Ocean temp: 55°; Sunset: 8:00p.m.
Just an update...arrived home late Saturday night from a week's vacation in Key West, FL.  Temp when we left was 85° with sunny, blue skies.  I had a nice taste of summer last week...tropical rains, intense hot sun, humidity, sunblock applications, sweating most of the time, straw hat, bathing suit and flipflops worn all week.   Not to mention delicious food meal after meal after meal including yummy Key Lime pie.  I enjoyed the cocktails, the beach, our pool, lots of bike riding, shopping, turtle races, tropical fish, a butterfly museum, a sunset cruise, a beautiful full moon, roosters and  pelicans along with Florida seagulls. I'll truly miss the Key West characters most. Characters everywhere you looked.  Something that must be seen to appreciate.   It was a really fun vacation as me, my husband and our son and his fiancé enjoyed an awesome time away.  We were truly blessed to have that time together.  I have to admit as for weather...I do like Wildwood's weather this time of year and will enjoy easing into our summer (44 days away).  I'm happy to be home and back to my beach!
