Au revoir November!!

Mornin'!  It's 48° in sunny Wildwood.  It's fairly mild and pleasant.  No breezes...just lovely quietness and sunshine with a twist of sea aroma!  Perfect for the last day of November... until next year!!!  It'll be lovely today as sunny, autumn days go.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 50s with breezes out of the SW.  Now the breezes could be November's way of saluting us as it heads on into the sunset... as they'll be 20-27mph +gusting.  Tonight...back into the 40s with breezes continuing.  More sun tomorrow the 1st of December as rain is expected tomorrow night.

Seasonable Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood.  It's still dark and quiet (no breezes).  It's cloudy and you can hear the ocean's roar in the background.  It's looking like a decent autumn day with temps reaching the upper 40s and Ms Sun doing her best to shine through those clouds.  Today's winds will be light and variable out of the South at 8-10mph.  Tonight...some clouds sticking around with temps down into the low 40s and winds shifting from the S-SW.  Tomorrow...even nicer!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's quiet and still with clouds overhead.  Ms Sun appears to not have her grand entrance this morning, but she's due in.  It'll be partly sunny/partly cloudy this Thanksgiving as temps rise just a tad (low 40s).  Some breezes will be light and variable from the NW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...partly overcast with temps back into the 30s with breezes 10-15mph (NW).  Looks like a great day to be sharing the thanks and digging in!  Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

We're having a Nor'easter!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  It's raining at a nice clip with those Northeasterly winds blasting us...NE 23-34mph.  We're having us a Nor'easter!  It'll be rainy and windy all day long.  We may get up to an inch of rain as the rain will be heavy at times while the winds hammer us.  By noon...N-NE 35-45mph winds.  Temps will hover around the mid-upper 40s until tonight when they begin to drop.  The rain is supposed to end late tonight but by then the temps will have dropped into the mid 30s possibly creating some ice slicks.  Beware of the icy conditions if out and about tonight (I'll be standing in the kitchen making the "sides" for tomorrow's feast at our daughter's).  The overnight will bring clearing as winds simmer down and rains check out.  Expect partial sunshine tomorrow for Thanksgiving!

Looking Gray Today

Mornin'!  It's 57° (no typo) in Wildwood.  It's cloudy, calm and very quiet (no breezes at all and no leaves blowing around) except for the sound of the surf pounding onshore.  The clouds are a sound insulator as living six blocks from the beach doesn't automatically mean you can hear the ocean's crashing waves.  Today is one of those mornings the roar is loud and clear.  My parents had a spectacular home not far from I95 in Philly and you could always hear the highway traffic which takes me right back there as the sounds are exact.  The fact that there's no highway here on the island and instead it's the ocean's roar never ceases to put a smile on my face.  So, today we're going to have seasonable weather continue as temps stay where they are...mid-upper 50s.  Winds will be out of the NW once they start wifting (I mean wafting) in at 16-21mph.  The clouds are going to hang out along with Ms Sun once she rises and shines.  They'll be battling it out all throughout the day as there's a 10% chance of showers early today.   By this afternoon we could more peeks of her.  Then tonight...here comes the rain (90% chance) on the overnight. Temps will drop down into the low 40s.  This "rain" (note I didn't use the "S" word yet) event will continue through tomorrow into tomorrow night and once it's out of here, Ms Sun may be competing with the turkey as the star attraction on Thursday.

Partly Sunny Monday

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood.  It's overcast.  It's very windy and blustery (S-SW 25-40mph).  It's wet (from the overnight downpours) and loud (from the roaring ocean six blocks down the street).  It's not raining at the moment and all forecasts are saying that the chance of any rain today is likely to decrease and ending as the morning develops.  The winds will simmer down at little (SW 10-20mph) as temps head up into the mid-upper 60s.  Ms Sun will pay a visit and be shining down for most of the day but the clouds will sneak back eventually and by this evening win out again as they're overstaying their welcome until Turkey day possibly.  Tonight...cloudy with temps dropping back into the low-50s with winds staying right in the midst of it all.  All this hype about the "S" word isn't going to have any effect on Wildwood this time round by the way.

Mild Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  The clouds are checked in a little bit.  Ms Sun's coming at the same time.  So, the battle between them begins.  It'll be partly sunny/partly cloudy today as temps rise up into the upper 50s.  Breezes are nothing now but they'll ramp up a bit later from the SW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...rain's-a-coming as showers should begin around bedtime and will continue through into tomorrow morning.  Tonight temps...staying in the 50s and tomorrow...possibly tapping 70°!

Frost on the Pumpkin!

Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood.  It's very wintry as there's frost on the pumpkin this morning!  No lie as there's frost everywhere this morning and it's the first this season for morning frost and that includes a light sheen of ice on the harbor.  Ms Sun's about to cross the horizon as she'll be providing abundant sunshine today!  Temps are gonna climb way up to the upper 40s possible even tapping 50°!  You read that right...no frost for long on this island.  Winds are not happening at the moment but they'll wift (I mean waft) in later from the SW at 18-23mph.  Tonight....clear and starlit with winds calming down from the SW at 10-15mph with temps in the low-mid 30s.  Tomorrow...nice and much like today except the rains are rolling in tomorrow night.  Oh...New Moon today...much higher tides than usual!

Winter's Back!

Mornin'!  It's 31° (2 steps forward; 1 step back).  It's blustery and feels like winter again.  Winds are howling big time from the W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  The perfect kind of morning you just want to roll over, punch the pillow, and pull the comforter up to your chin.  Not happening. Along with those annoying winds...the office is calling.   It'll be blustery and windy most of the day with partly cloudy/partly sunny skies.  Temps will be in the low 30s with wind chills of low 20s.  By dinner time, the winds will have simmered down from the NW at 14-16mph as the sky clears and stars come out.  Tomorrow...sunnier, a tad warmer and less windy.  Sunday... even warmer (mid 50s) but cloudier with rains checking in late. Don't forget... the New Moon is tomorrow...higher than normal tides out there!

Warm Up in Wildwood!

Fishing Pier, Wildwood Crest NJ
Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  Yes...you read that right... we're warming up!  It feels cold though due to the winds.  Coming from the W-SW at 23-35mph, it blustery and cold in the morning darkness.  The sky is full of stars and the moon is a thin arc as a New Moon is less than 2 days away.  Keep in mind a New Moon is just as strong as a Full Moon when it comes to pulling the tides causing tidal flooding.  So, it'll be another bright, sunny day at the Shore today albeit warmer than it's been.  Winds are still in the mix as they're strong wifting (I mean wafting) over the island from the W-SW at 23-35mph initially and shifting later from the W-NW at 25-33mph.  Temps will be around the mid-upper 40s and by tonight drop back into the lo-mid 30s.  This forecast looks like it'll repeat for the next couple days as we head back into balmy weather Sunday and Monday.  Well, it'll feel balmy after this frigid week as temps look to be heading into the 60s and more seasonable Autumn.

Plenty Cold

Mornin'!  It's 26° in Wildwood.  Jeez.  It's official.  Well, not really official as that's December 21st (first day of winter), but my back porch thermometer says it's official...Winter's in Wildwood today.  It's still dark this early morning with clear, starlit skies and winds coming from the W-SW at 15-25mph (keeping those chill factors over the island).  There's plentiful sunshine today as the temps climb into the mid-upper 30s and winds hang out.  Tonight...clear and back into the 20s.   I'm thankful for not living near Buffalo, NY as they have 20° temps under 3' of lake-effect blinding snow that continues to pummel them.  Wildwood's having a bright, sunny, winter's day with nothing to shovel and for that I'm very grateful.  The rest of the week...much of the same with Sunday having temps back in the 50s!

Feeling Like Winter

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood.  It's clear and starlit with winds knocking things out of the park this early morn.  Their moans surround the island as though they're crying over this winter preview today.   It's clear now but the clouds will be part of the show as a mix of clouds and sun with those gusty (NW) winds are on the menu today. It'll be unseasonably cold (20° below average for this time of year) with temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds W-NW at 28 to 36 mph (chill factors today).  Tonight...down into the 20s with those annoying (much like March) winds roughing us up almost up until Saturday.

Rumble Monday

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  It's raining lightly as it's been all night.  It will continue as showers are forecasted for this morning as we head into more mild temperatures (upper 50s - low 60s) this afternoon.  Also heading our way this afternoon are some major winds (S-SW 19-28mph / gusting to 39mph) and thunderstorms (90% chance).  All of this will continue until the overnight when this stormy weather will begin to clear out bringing what they're all calling "An Arctic Blast".  Tomorrow, it'll be much colder as Ms Sun returns but those bad-hair day winds will stay checked in.

Mostly Gray

Sunset Lake, Wildwood Crest, NJ
Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  The island's covered in clouds.  No breezes but feels a bit damp and cold outside this morning.  Thank goodness for the warmth of my Sunday kitchen and hubby's breakfast preparations going on as I blog.  It'll be chilly today all day due to the cloud cover.  Ms Sun will try to peek through but as the day progresses, so does the cloudiness.  Temps won't get out of the 40s.  Winds will pick up from the SW at 12-16mph as the chance of rain becomes 80% by tonight.  It's supposed to rain overnight into tomorrow morning.

Tonight...back into the 30s.  I guess this is our first wintry weekend forecast.  Layer up if you're heading out as it'll be a crisp day and eve.  Tomorrow...a tad warmer but cloudier.

Ol' Man Winter's Continues to Peek In

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's cloudy, breezy and very chilly this morning with winds out of the N-NW at 22-26mph.  I guess I have to type the "W" word and I don't mean "Wildwood"!  Yep...feels a tad like "Winter" this morning as there's a bit of a bite in the air (winter's in 37 days by the way).  It'll be cold and breezy today with Ms Sun struggling to shine through the clouds as it'll be partly Sunny/partly Cloudy today.  Temps will be in the low 40s.  Tonight...clear and cold...temps in the low 30s with breezes still kicking and creating some chill factors. The weekend's looking seasonable with both days Sunny.  Saturday will be colder with highs in the low 40s and Sunday low 50s.  Autumn's not giving up that easily at the Shore!

Winter's Easing In

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  It's clear and starlit with not much in breezes at the moment.  Things are gonna change though.  It'll be mostly sunny through the afternoon, as cloud cover begins to increase. It'll be windy and significantly chillier than the last two days. Highs around 50° with N-Northwest winds at 9-11 mph. A late day rain shower is possible (40% chance) as temps drop into the upper 30s tonight with winds picking up at 15-20mph (70% chance of rain and/or wintry mix overnight which will have little or no impact on the Wildwoods).

Still Mild with a Foggy Start

Mornin'!  It's 59° in foggy Wildwood.  Soup's on as the island's in some heavy, dense fog at the moment.  You can hear the ocean's waves crashing as if I was beachfront property which I'm not (I'm six blocks away).  We'll have fog for some time until Ms Sun rises and shines and burns off most of this London ambiance.  It'll be sunny and mild and pleasant again today as temps get up into the low-mid 60s.  Winds are nothing now but will kick up a bit later this morning from the NW at 10-12mph.  Tonight...back into the low-50s with clear, starlit skies and winds out of the N-NW at 17-23mph.  Weekend's looking sunny and chilly with highs in the upper 40's-low 50's.

It's a tribute to all of you who served to provide us our freedom. That includes my partner and better half of 43 years.  Thank You. It's 55° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun and the cloud cover are battling it out as I blog this morning.  She's going to make her grand entrance, just not sure when.  It'll be partly to mostly sunny today with 10% chance of a spritz and light breezes out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...just about the same...little cloud cover and back to mid-50s.

Another Autumn Beauty

Ottens Harbor Sunset (last night)
Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  Not for long though as Ms Sun's in the wings waiting for her show stopper grand entrance.  She sure had a extraordinary exit last evening at Sunset.  Whew these autumn sunsets have been for the most part spectacular these recent evenings.  Tonight shouldn't be any exception.  It'll be another autumn beauty today with Ms Sun shining down all day as temps rise into the 60s.  Winds will be light from the E-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...clear, low-mids 50s, breezes out of SE 9-10mph.  Tomorrow...Veterans Day...much of the same!

Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in chilly Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly and looks like she'll be checked in until next weekend.  That remains to be seen.  Especially after yesterday afternoon when Wildwood's brilliant blue skies went black for an hour or so as rain showers poured down (didn't see that one coming).  Today will be mostly sunny and seasonably cool with temps in the low-mid 50s. We're also staying dry and not as windy, with West-southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight...back into the upper 40s, dry and a bit windier (S-SW 19-26).  Tomorrow...a little clouds thrown in the sunny mix but just about the same as today.  The moon isn't full anymore but shining brightly and continues to illuminate the island.

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood.  It's cloudy.  It's breezy (NW 23-30mp).  It's chilly.  Those stiff breezes will be pushing most of the clouds out to sea as temps head up to the mid 50s then drop into the mid-upper 40s later.  Oh..they'll (the winds) will be hanging out all day into tonight (forget about the hairdo).  Once Ms Sun arrives it'll be past daybreak and she'll be checked in all weekend. Tonight...low 40s, breezy and clear.  The weekend's looking clear and sunny with temps hovering around the upper 40s and maybe even tapping 50°.  Ya know...good football weather!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in cloudy Wildwood.  It's overcast.   No breezes...just stillness and quiet except for the sounds of the surf crashing in the background.  There are no stars or full moon shining down due to the cloud cover.  It's supposed to be overcast, cloudy and mostly rainy today.  A couple forecasts did mention peeks of sun.  Hmm.  Mainly it'll be a rainy day with periods of showers (70%) as winds will wift (I mean waft) in a bit later from the South-Southwest at 10-20mph +gusts.  Temps will be in the low 60s.  Tonight clearing a bit with 40% chance of showers and temps back down into the upper 40s.  Ms Sun's back tomorrow as she's checking in for the weekend!

Hazy Hump Day

Sunset Lake Wildwood Crest, NJ
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  We've got some cloud cover this early morn.  Some of the sky is starlit while other areas...nothing; no stars; no (almost) Full Moon (which is tomorrow).  It's quiet...as the breezes are laying low at the moment and will begin later from the West at 10-13mph.  It looks like we'll have a partly to mostly cloudy day as a rain system slowly heads this way.  Can't rule out peeks of sun off and on though.  Temps will remain mild getting up into the low-mid 60s.  Tonight...temps drop back into the 50s as winds shift from the NW 7-8mph with a 50% chance of rain.  By the way...the rains continue through tomorrow.

Mild Election Day Tuesday

1st and Surf Avenue Beach, North Wildwood NJ
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  The sky is cloudy as Ms Sun's waiting in the wings to rise and shine.  It's either going to be a gorgeous sunrise thanks to those clouds or they very well could be covering her up completely making for a gray start to the day.  All remains to be seen.  But, one thing's for sure...Ms Sun will shine today as it'll be mostly sunny with temps in the low-mid 60s as winds will be out of the West at 12-14mph.  Tonight...mid 50s with cloud cover and breezes out of the SW ramped up just a tad at 18-22mph.  Looks like a perfect weather day for those mid-term elections.  Those election commercials will finally once again be out of our lives thank God.  Sniff...canvas awnings were removed yesterday and once again temporarily out of my life! Sunny Monday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's due up in about a half hour.  In fact the sky is already brightening which seems odd this time of morning.  Just got to get used to this new time frame of sunrises and sunsets.  I'm actually feeling more rested with that extra hour of sleep this weekend.  Instead of dense darkness this early morn, I can see the horizon lightening as the sky is partly cloudy.  I like that.  The winds are still making their presence known.  Nothing like this weekend (wasn't that an incredible show of what the winds can do?) but still breezy (18-25mph) out of the W-NW.  It'll be sunny today with temps in the mid-upper 50s as the winds wift (I mean waft) in from the W-NW and shift this evening from the W-SW at 12-18mph.  Tomorrow...everything simmers down as the winds die out and Ms Sun pours down to 65+ temps.  And, I'm off for Election Day!!!  Yay!

Should Have Fallen Back! Sunset's Early Today!!!

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  It's extremely windy (N-NW 35-38mph).  It's a "rooster comb wave" windy day as the waves are called that when those NW winds blow the tops off each wave as it crashes to shore.   It's "howling" windy as the winds are wailing loudly outside as the moans surround my home.  It's "knock down plants" windy as potted plants are laying scattererd around my yard.  It's "shed the leaves" windy as my trees have half the leaves they had yesterday.  It's "blow the clouds out" windy as Ms Sun will begin to shine through all this intensity once these blustery conditions simmer down a bit later today into the evening (NW 15-25mph).  Temps will stick around the low 50s and tonight...low 40s.

Well...hello there November!

Mornin'!  It's 50° and windy... very windy (N-NE 32-39 sustained winds).  The sky is lightening but it's thick with scary Halloween clouds moving as fast as they can toward the ocean.  At the moment there's no moisture or rain but it's all around us on the doppler.  Before long we'll have a steady rain this morning, with showers continuing this afternoon. High 52° with winds N at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a half an inch.  Tonight...more chances of rain (30%) with temps back down into the low 40s and remaining windy and extremely blustery.  Remember... clocks get turned back an hour as we sleep in a bit tomorrow!  Even so...not a fan of losing an hour of daylight...not a fan at all.  51 days until the Winter Solstice...when the days begin to ease into being a little longer... let's keep the focus on that!
