Friday Evening April 25th

Evenin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood.  It's raining lightly and there's a decent breeze coming off the ocean.  You know the kinda evening...wet and raw.  I'm contemplating firing up the ol' furnace.  It's been set on the "off" switch as of late.  Ok...let's get down to business.  I'm jetting out to Key West in the early a.m.  I've been blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to return there and enjoy another hopefully wonderful vacation.  Even though I still enjoy the realization that my home is smack in the middle of a seasonal vacation resort, it's still such a pleasure to go to another with such a different spirit and energy...it's palpable and wonderful.
So...I'm taking off from my blog while vacationing.  I always do.  You know...a true vacation. If you want to know Wildwood NJs weather I'll give some info on what's ahead this week but for an up-to-date daily forecast just click on any of the links on the right side of the blogs.  "Wunderground" is exceptional...just type in Wildwood's zipcode...08260 and it'll give you almost spot on weather report.  It's almost accurate everytime I check. "Magicseaweed" is great for tides, wave action, and winds; not so much for water temps or sunset times as they're off with their numbers.  And of course there's NOAA (Nat'l Weather).
The forecast for tomorrow (Saturday) is this rain system will be out of here by morning as the sun pours down. There's a healthy mix of clouds and sun throughout the day until rain possibly returns Saturday evening.  Breezes will be out of the NW at 20-25mph settling down by the afternoon.  And, temps will be in the low-mid 60s.  Seems like the Spring fling fest will be having pretty good weather.
Sunday will be cooler...low-mid 50s but a full on sunny day.
Monday, the same until the evening when rain's in the forecast.  And, I'm sorry to say the rest of the week looks miserable due to rain being in the forecast.   Hang in there.
So, until next week here's a couple links to some live webcam action in Key West.  Maybe you can spot me!

Mixed Bag

Mornin'!  It's 41° in sunny Wildwood.  Well, almost "sunny" as Ms Sun's due up in about a half hour.  It's clear and quiet (the winds have died down finally...at least for awhile).  Temps will get back up into the mid-upper 50s.  The sun will be shining most of the day until the clouds begin their drift over the island later this afternoon.  Rains-are-a-coming by early evening.  Heaviest rain tonight. Winds are joining in too...SE at 22-28mph.  Sounds like a great night to get the party started as it's Sensational Spring Weekend this weekend and the dancing begins tonight at 7p.m. at the convention center.
Footnote: One of my work friends just reported to me that the dolphins and ospreys are back!  He saw the dolphins in their playful behavior mode in the ocean this morning and the dad osprey was sitting on the nest in the marshes protecting his babies!

Fire Weather Warnings Still Posted

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood.  The sky is bright and clear and ready to welcome Ms Sun.  The winds are still howling from the NW at 20-30 +gusting.  Seems like the winds will be hanging out all day again.  They should be quieting down by late tonight.  There's a "Fire Weather Warning" still posted for our area and even more so for our surrounding areas including the pine lands.  Just saying, "Watch those cigarette butts"... it's extremely dry out there and a fire would do very, very well with these winds.  There's a "ban on open fires" posted as I have the inside scoop from the Fire Official.  On a good note... it'll be mostly sunny (she's about to make her grand entrance) today with temps just about tapping the 60s.  The winds will give a bit of a chill to the day much like yesterday.  Back into the 40s tonight.  Looking like a chance of rain for tomorrow.  But, it looks like a nice weekend ahead.  It'll be an especially nice one for me and hubby as we jet off to our Key West vacation on Saturday morning!  It's certainly in the air here as he's been whistling happily since he woke this morning and even just hugged me for no reason while I was typing.  Life is good!

Chilly humpday

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood.  It's a bit cloudy as the sunrise should be enhanced by that cloud cover.  We've had some lovely shots of the sky here as of late.  Last night at dusk...the rainbows were out! It's windy this early morn (25-35mph from the NW and that's not with gusting).  There's a "Fire Weather Warning" posted due to those winds but mostly due to the dry conditions.  Those sea-grasses are tinder at the moment.  Be attentive especially with those cigarette butts.  It'll be mostly sunny (clouds are in the mix today) with breezes holding steady at a good clip (bad hair day for sure) as temps won't get much higher (mid-50s).  Tonight...clearer and still very breezy with temps dropping a bit into the high 40s.

Earth Day Mixed Bag

Mornin'!  It's 48° as the morning unfolds with the sounds of the surf crashing and sea gulls laughing.  Is that a song?  It's a pleasant Spring morn.  Ms Sun's due up in less than a half an hour as the horizon's brightening with lovely pastels as I type. The morning will be nice as clouds increase making today a mostly cloudy one.  Rain's checking in by dinner time.  Breezes out of the South-Southwest at 11-14mph. Temps are rising into the low-mid 60s.  Tonight, back into the mid-upper 40s with rain.  We may even hear the sound of thunder during the night.  Tomorrow...Ms Sun checks back in!

Lovely Monday

Mornin'!  It's 40° this lovely morning in Wildwood.  Had the nice opportunity to share the lovely sunrise at 6:10a.m. with my oldest daughter.  Life can't get any better than that.  It's a beautiful morning at the shore.  There's a light, cool breeze and the gulls and starlings and all the birds for that matter are singing happily everywhere.  Ms Sun will pour down all day with a spring-like feel today with temps going into the mid-50s as light breezes stick around from the NE at 10-12mph.  Tonight...back into the 40s.  Chance of rain tomorrow night and Friday, but the rest of the week looks like a repeat of today. It's a "get out and enjoy" kinda day for sure!

Happy Easter!

Mornin'!  Happy Easter!  It's 42°, dry and quiet.  It's been cloudy this morning so far but the bright morning sun is breaking through as I type.  It's supposed to be a mix of clouds and sun today with winds kicking up from the E-NE at 19-22mph and temps in the lo-mid 50s.  That ocean breeze and mix of clouds and sun today should make for a bit of a chilly Easter Sunday.  Prepare accordingly.  Tonight...back in the 40's with a NE breeze at 12-15mph.  Hopefully, we'll have a repeat of last night's sunset...it was off the chart gorgeous thanks to that cloud cover.

Clearing Trend

Mornin'! It's 41° in cloudy Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up but the cloud cover is the show stopper this morning.  It's calm and quiet (except for the sounds of waves crashing 6 blocks away).  It'll be mostly cloudy this morning with breezes out of the N-NW and by this afternoon...Ms Sun will be the main attraction.  Also, the clouds will begin to thin and clear out with breezes shifting to the NE at 7-10mph as temps climb into the mid-upper 50s by this afternoon.  Seems like it'll be A-OK for all those Easter Egg hunts this weekend on the beach.  Tonight...even clearer yet with temps back into the low-mid 40s.  Tomorrow...eggcellent!  Next Saturday...jetting off to the Keys!

Unseasonably Cool "Good Friday"

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  We're currently under clouds and will remain a mostly cloudy day.  Typical "Good Friday" weather.  As a child I remember Good Friday to always be gray and dreary and sometimes even stormy.  Today...just gray and cloudy and did I mention "cold"?  It won't get a whole lot warmer as the temps should read mid-upper 40s.  No sun or rain in the forecast but it'll feel chilly and raw.  Winds will be wifting (I mean wafting) over the island from the NE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...right back to where we are at the moment...clouds and low 40s.  The weekend's looking fine as there's more sun with each passing day while temps head back to the 60s.  A couple Easter egg hunts this weekend!  One at Lincoln and the Beach and another in North Wildwood at 19th and the Beach tomorrow.  And, on Sunday 23rd and the Beach.  Morey's amusement pier opens Easter.  In the words of Simple Minds..."Alive and Kicking"...that's what Wildwood will be this weekend.  In fact the streets are filling with cars as I type.  No lie as during the little pooch's morning walk, I noted how many folk are checked in already...cars everywhere.  On this work holiday for me...slept in just a bit and baked some delicious scones.  My intention is to tackle the clothes hamper and once again filter through the pile of clothes for that ol' suitcase for Key West next week!  Life is good!

Cool Coast

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear, starlit and moonlit.  That ol' moon is still bright and looking full (it's waning and 95% full).  There's a light ocean breeze making a bit of a chill factor.  Let me put it this way...there's no Spring in the air this morning as there's a mild wintry feel outside as the coast is cool.  It'll be mostly sunny today as temps stay in the 40s (mid-high range).  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 12-18mph.  Tonight...back into the mid-upper 30s with breezes sticking around and more clouds rolling.  Where the hell is Spring?  Summer's 64 days away...it really is coming!

Winter Wednesday

The "Wall" and "Hereford Lighthouse"
Mornin'! It's "winter wednesday" or, "cruel joke wednesday"!  How can you make the words display frustration?  How's "a layer of crunchy ice everywhere" or "it's 34° with a 25° chill factor" in Wildwood?  The winds are-a-howling... N-NW at 25-35mph +gusting!  Actually, it sounds like the hyper-loop or metro-liner is speeding down our street.  The sky is clear, starlit and moonlit.  The dog wouldn't go out when I opened the back door with a gust of winter air smacking us in the face.  When he got the encouraging push he needed to proceed, poor little thing slipped on the ice on the back porch.  I'm about to curl up in a fetal position until summer but Key West is in 9 days and I'm in the midst of getting summer attire sorted.  It's going to feel more like turtle-neck and scarf weather today as temps barely tap the mid-40's with winds howling from the North at 20+mph.  Thank goodness we'll have plenty of sun.  Tonight...clear and back into the 30s with winds still roaring out of the NE.  Tomorrow...a "repeat of today"...now there's some more words of frustration.

Tax Day

Sunset between Coconut Cove's fake palm trees
Mornin'! It's 54° as winds are the main event this morning.  They're coming from the South at 25-35mph +gusting as the howling winds are hitting the coast.  The ocean is too and it's loud and clear from six blocks away.  It's not raining at the moment but everything's wet from periods of overnight light rain and/or coastal moisture spreading over the island from the ocean via those winds.  Temps will hover around the mid-upper 50s as it's going to be a blustery, wet day at the Shore while winds pound the coast all day with periods of heavy rain (the epitome of a bad hair day).  Need I say that it'll be an uncomfortable, miserable day?  Tonight, the temps drop into the mid 30s and we may see (I can't believe I'm about to type this) a wintry mix of rain and snow.  No accumulation...just wet, cold flakes.  It's the official full moon today (this morning to be exact) and it'll have an effect on the tides so just be aware of island flooding.  Don't forget to file those taxes and on a brighter note...Ms Sun's back tomorrow and even brighter note for me ...10 days until Key West!

Monday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 52° this clear, very breezy Monday morn in Wildwood.  It'll be clear for Ms Sun's grand entrance in about a ½ hour.  It'll stay mostly clear throughout the morning and early afternoon. There's a 10% chance of precipitation early evening as temperatures stay in the low-60 range over the coast all day. Winds will be competing for center stage coming from the South at 25-35mph +gusting (another bad hair day).  Clouds will begin filtering in this afternoon as the "Mix of Sun and Clouds" is in everyone's forecast.  By this evening a possible glimpse of the sunset and maybe even the Full Moonrise with the clouds doing their best to steal the show.  Late tonight...cloudy with light rain developing after midnight. Low around 55F. Winds S at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Tomorrow's looking like a washout (chance of rain 90°).
Tonight... a Lunar Eclipse! For most U.S. states east of the Mississippi River, tonight's total lunar eclipse will likely turn out to be a total bust, while in contrast, much of the central and western United States will likely get a fine view of the "blood moon" in all its coppery-red brilliance.
The first total lunar eclipse of 2014 occurs in the overnight hours tonight and will be visible across most of North America, South America, Hawaii and parts of Alaska. Depending on your location, it begins either late tonight or in the wee hours of Tuesday, but as with every skywatching event, you can only see it if Mother Nature cooperates.  Seems that along the East coast tomorrow's very early morning weather and cloud cover would prevent the show stopping event here.
Tonight's lunar eclipse runs from 12:53 a.m. EDT (0453 GMT) to about 6 a.m. EDT (1000 GMT).High tide:8:05a.m.

Palm Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 51° in breezy downtown Wildwood.  The sky is turning pale pink/light orange as Ms Sun's about to cross the colorful horizon.  There are clouds in the mix today as well.  The clouds will hang out all day as it's going to be one of those "partly sunny/partly cloudy" ones.  Southerly breezes will be ramped up all day as they wift (I mean waft) over us at 18-22mph +gusting.  Temps will be in the mid-60s again and it should be a decent day down the Shore.  Tonight...fog's heading over the island as temps head back into the 50s.  Haven't skipped the blog in awhile but yesterday was a much needed "sleep in" as our dear lifelong friends were our weekend guests and blogging took the back seat.  Today...I'm up and atom as our dear lifelong friends are sleeping in!  Glad they got some Mack's Pizza (opening day and awesome pizza) along with that great sea air yesterday.  Cures what ails ya!  Another nice one on tap for today Palm Sunday so enjoy as the rains are settling in the next couple days.

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 50° under clear skies.  There's a light breeze and the fragrance of the sea in the air.  The birds seems happy with all the chirping going on out there.   Ms Sun's due up within the hour as the sunrise will be displayed rather nicely without clouds interfering.  The clouds will however begin their interference a bit later as they begin to filter in later this morning and by this afternoon the sky's supposed to be cloud filled prepping for evening/overnight showers.  Breezes will be out of the SW at 15-20mph and will ramp up a bit tonight at 30+mph.  Temps will be mild today at the shore...mid-upper 60s and back down to 50° tonight.  So far, the weekend's looking decent.  We'll probably be waking with the remnants of a light rain shower Saturday morning.  But, Ms Sun looks like she'll be checked in for the most part this weekend along with 60° temps as Wildwood begins the weekend festivities...Morey's were testing their rides yesterday and the aroma of Mack's Pizza is finally in the air...move over Sam's!  You know how Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday weekends down the Shore are kicked up a notch.

Mornin'!  It's 45°, calm and clear this early morn.  Sun's due to cross the horizon in less than an hour as the sky is beginning to lighten and become colorful with shades of light blues and pales pinks.
Temps will be hitting the 60° mark again as Wildwood will have plentiful sunshine all day.  Breezes will be out of the South starting out light at 12-15mph and ramping up by dinner time at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear and back down to 50°.  Tomorrow... more of the same.  Saturday... not so much as rain's-a-coming!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  It's quiet and calm with no breezes.  Looking like a nice one as Ms Sun's on today's weather menu along with blue skies and breezes.  Later, a chilly breeze heads our way from the N-NW at 15-20mph+gusting.  Temps are forecasted today in the mid-upper 50s possibly tapping 60°.  No rain until possibly Saturday.  The moon will begin looking a lot brighter as a Full Moon is due up next Tuesday.

Mostly Cloudy Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood.  It's raining lightly and breezy.  It'll be that way most of the morning until the clouds begin to break up and check out.  We'll probably have a few occasional showers throughout the morning and even perhaps through the afternoon.  It's supposed to clear out and make way for Ms Sun by this evening.  Temps will be up in the low 60s.  The winds will be creating havoc coming out of the W-SW at 20-25mph +gusting.  Tonight...mostly clear and still breezy as temps head down into the 40s.  Sounds like it'll be a typical April-Spring-Shower day.  Keep thinking "flowers" or "beach".

Rainy Days and Monday

Mornin'!  It's 45° under cloudy skies.  It's dry out there.  Not much of a breeze wifting (I mean wafting) over the island but things-are-a-changin'!  It's going to be a rainy Monday (and Tuesday too possibly) as there's 100% chance of rain today and tonight.  Tomorrow...80% chance.  The gardens I was working on this weekend will be getting a nice watering as tomorrow night is when these rain clouds are supposed to check out.  Temps today will just tap the 50° mark as Winds are coming in strong a bit later from the SE-ESE at 20-30mph.  Sounds miserable.  I'm going to fill the ol' soup thermos for work today because sitting at the ocean during my lunch hour is going to be on the raw side and a chilly one. Even though I still enjoy the beach on rainy days, you can't beat warm soup for taking the edge off.  Go ahead and sing away Karen Carpenter!

Lovely Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 37° in sunny Wildwood.  The sky is clear as Ms Sun's up and shining brightly on the island. No breezes and although it's on the chilly side, it doesn't feel cold.  The gulls seem happy with all their laughter in the distance.  Love these mornings.  Especially when I know it'll be a nice Spring day. Not to mention it's not a work day, hubby's beginning his delicious Sunday morning breakfast (aromas of coffee, bacon and taters are wafting in from the kitchen) and I'll be working on my bulb garden today.  Seems as though the bulb garden is breaking on through to the other side (in the words of the Doors). Got the leafy garden prepped yesterday as the lettuce, spinach and cilantro seeds are planted all while hubby got the outdoor table and chairs out and scrubbed too!  Spring's in the air on my property!  It'll be nice one this Sunday as Ms Sun will be shining brightly all day with temps up in the low-mid 50s.  No breezes to speak of as they're light out of N at 5-7mph and shift later this afternoon from the SE (ocean's "chilly" breeze) around the same speed.  Tonight still clear and calm with temps in the 40s.  Tomorrow and Tuesday...rain, rain and more rain (great days to be in the office)!

Gusty at times... West-WNW winds 25-30mph.  Temps should reach the low-mid 50s.  Tonight...clear and down to 37°.

Crapola Friday

Mornin'!  It's 45°.  That ocean is rip-roaring again as the sounds of waves crashing is predominate in the early morning darkness.  It was even louder throughout the night. I kept my bedroom window cracked to be lulled to sleep and soak in the sounds of the surf in my subconcious. It must have worked as I'm refreshed and ready to go!  The island's still under clouds which continues to insulate the ocean's roar as it's cloudy, chilly and breezy at the moment.  Winds are out of the E-SE at 20-25mph and will stay ramped up throughout the day and slowing down but shift from the West after midnight.  It'll definitely be another "bad hair" day.  The clouds are staying checked in as temps reach the low-50s while breezes wift (I mean waft) off the coast.  There's a 60% chance of scattered showers throughout the day and 40% chance tonight.  Looking like a crapola Friday but not so for the weekend as Ms Sun's checking back in!

April Showers

Mornin'!  It's 49° this quiet, calm, dark morning in Wildwood.  There's plenty of cloud cover this morning causing a bit of a spritzing and making the sounds of the surf crashing loud and clear (and that's 6 blocks from the ocean). It's very still with no breezes to report.  April will be showing it's true colors these next few days as April showers are due to check in later.  It'll be pretty much cloudy (some sun thrown in) all day with 20% chance of rain today (it's just barely raining as I type), 70% chance tonight, 80% chance tomorrow, 20% chance Saturday and 100% chance on Monday.  Sunday's sunny with no rain in the forecast.  Temps today will just be in the 50° range.  Breezes will be light from the E-NE at 10-14mph.  Tonight...back down to the low 40s.  Guess it's "prep the flower" weather as you know what April Showers do best.

April Hump Day

Typical breezy July beach day
Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  It's a little cloudy under dark skies. Not sure about an obscured sunrise as the clouds seem thickest out over the ocean.  It'll be a partly sunny start to the day, but cloud cover increases and thickens up in the late afternoon/early evening.  There's a 30% chance of a shower tonight. Overall, however, we remain dry and seasonably warm. Highs in the mid to upper 50s and possible tapping 60°.  Breezes are light and almost unnoticeable and will be out of the N-NW at 8-11mph later today.  Typical Spring Day in my opinion with a touch of April Showers (the name of Grandma's talc) possible in the Spring mix.

Aloha April!

dormant beach dunes
Mornin'!  It's 83° in Wildwood.  How bout 38°?  That's much more like it.  April Fools!  It won't be long before the porch thermometer will be saying 83°!  It's chilly out there this morning.  We're under clear, starlit skies as Ms sun's due up in about an hour.  We're going to see her rise today after quite awhile of no sunrises plus she's sticking around all day.  It's quiet out there as there are no breezes to write about.  They'll begin a bit later this morning from the North at 7-10mph and shift by midday from the S-SE.  Temps won't get too much higher as we're supposed to hang around the mid-40s.  I'd say a nice kick off for the 1st of April.  Now where did I put my fake doggie-do?
