This Is It November (Also The Official End To Hurricane Season)!

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ this last day of November.  November's been good to us this year and it'll be no exception today as she bids adieu with a nice day. It is noticeably different though when you step outside this morning as it's got a chilly snap to it with those E-NE breezes at 12-15mph. The moon and stars are shining through light cloud cover.  It's looking like another lovely autumn day albeit cooler than the last few days.  Expect temps just about reaching the mid-50s with some light, milky clouds in the blue sky.  Breezes will be out of the E-SE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with some remaining clouds up there as temps drop back down into the upper 40s with breezes out of the S-SW at 7-10mph.  Until next year November...

Beautiful Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's starting out just like the last couple of mornings with clear starlit skies and not much in the line of breezes (SW 5-9mph).  It feels surprisingly nice when you step outside; not wintry at all.  That aroma of salty brine is in the morning dew as well making it even nicer.  No frost this morning.  It'll be just like yesterday with plenty of sunshine pouring down, blue cloudless skies, temps tapping 60° and breezes out of the West at 12-18mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the mid-upper 40s and breezes out of the NW at 10-12mph.  We're supposed to get more of this loveliness tomorrow too!  It's perfect outdoor holiday decorating weather.

Another Beauty

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a crisp one this morning with clear, starlit skies, frost on all the surfaces, aroma of the marsh, and very light offshore breezes out of the East at 3-5mph.  Dawn is on its way in about an hour as the horizon colors are beginning to brighten.  It'll be yet another lovely autumn day with temps just about tapping 60°, plentiful sunshine, vivid blue cloudless skies and breezes light out of the S-SE at 9-12mph.  Tonight...clear starlit skies, breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph and temps in the mid-upper 40s.  Note the night sky is becoming brighter as the next full moon is this weekend (Sunday).

Blustery, Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and there's a breeze out of the N-NE at 7-10mph.  There's a delicious aroma of the sea in the chilly air as seagulls are in the distance laughing (I'd like to think of it as laughter but it could be a dogfight).   It's gonna get blustery today with temps staying around where they are now...mid-upper 40s and winds from the NW (first) at 20-25mph then switching a bit (by midday) out of the W-NW at around the same 20-25mph w/gusting.  It'll feel much colder (wind chill included) than yesterday when it was a perfectly gorgeous autumn day here down the shore.  It made for a lovely day for a bike ride on the boards.  The sun was warm and there was hardly a breeze! Tonight...clear, temps in the low 40s and breezes simmering down a bit and out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow...sunny and calmer.

Mild and Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and still (no breezes to note).  Ms Sun's up over the horizon.  She'll be melting away all that frost from the cold overnight temps.  Speaking of temps, they may be tapping 60° or at least the upper-50s with plenty of sunshine and breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph today.  Tonight...some clouds roll on in as it'll be partly cloudy with temps barely tapping 50° and breezes out of the W-SW (first) at 10-15mph; then switching from the W-NW at 20-25mph with gusting of 30+mph.  Tomorrow...sunny and blustery.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful for our 51st Thanksgiving together
Mornin'!  Happy Thanksgiving!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  There are some clouds in the East she may have to deal with as she rises a bit higher.  No breezes to note.  It looks like we'll have a mostly sunny (some clouds in the mix) day with temps in the low-mid 40s, breezes out of the NW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...clear, temps in the upper 30s / low 40s with Westerly breezes at 11-13mph.  It should make for a perfect travel day (if you haven't done so already) as we share in our gatherings and Thanksgiving Feasts.  I've got my sides (sauteed Brussel sprouts, cole slaw, sweet potato casserole and coconut custard pie) ready for packing in the trunk of the car as we road trip to our daughter's home.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers!  Many blessings to reflect on today including my weather followers!

Hump Travel Day!

Mornin'!  It's 55° in wet Wildwood NJ.  It's raining at a decent clip with winds out of the SW at 9-12mph.  It'll be a wet morning as the waning rain clouds and arrival of Ms Sun isn't due until late this morning / early afternoon.  Temps will hover around where they are now...mid 50s.  Those blustery winds of late are heading back to the coast as the cooler, drier air will be wifting (wafting) over the island by early afternoon (NW 25-30mph).  One forecast did say cloudy all day with chance of rain showers right into the evening.  My bets are sunny skies by this afternoon and that includes those winds.  Tonight...a perfect evening for food prep...
clear with temps in the low-mid 40s with N-NW winds at 25-30mph.  Tomorrow...lot's of thanks including grateful for a sunny day!

Tuesday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  Dawn has arrived as the sky is clear and looking like a dim but colorful pastel rainbow.  Ms Sun's readying herself to travel across the horizon.  The aroma of the sea and marsh is in the air as those stiff breezes are still making their presence known (SW 20-25mph).  It'll be mostly sunny today with clouds joining in the mix a bit later as temps go up into the mid-upper 50s with breezes out of the S-SW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight...cloudy with a 60-80% chance of rain showers (beginning mostly on the overnight), breezes out of the S-SW at 18-23mph while temps drop back down into the upper 40s.  Looks like rain tomorrow as we all begin food prep.  Thanksgiving's weather is looking good!

A Blustery 50-50 Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly and still very windy (SW 20-30mph +gusting).  It's a great morning to sleep in.  Not my pooch though...he had to go out while it was still dark outside regardless of the winds and rain.  So, we're dried-off and it's blog and coffee time!  It'll be a rainy, blustery start to the day as these rain clouds won't pack it in until late morning.  Ms Sun will eventually rule the entire afternoon.  Expect sunshine with these "very happy to be here" winds roaring (there's a "Wind Advisory" posted today) out of the West at 20-30mph with serious gusting (up to 50mph).  You'll certainly be gripping the steering wheel a bit tighter on the Garden State Parkway, bridges or causeways if heading out.  It's a New Moon today too so be aware of the high tides as they'll no doubt be affected by the Moon's pull.  Try not to drive through any of that corrosive water flooding some areas.  Today's temps will actually drop from what they are now and back down to low-mid 50s.  Tonight...clear, temps in the low 40s with winds gusting out of the West at 23-29mph.  Tomorrow...sunny and still breezy.

Bright First Half of the Day / Gray Second Half

Mornin'! It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the West at 8-10mph.  We've got another perfect, crisp, clear autumn morn down the shore.  Ms Sun's about the rise and shine with those fleeting (here and there) clouds accompanying her.  It looks like it'll be just as gorgeous and colorful as last night's sunset.  There's a chilly, blustery Saturday on tap with temps seasonable in the mid-upper 50s.  Winds will be out of the S-SW at 20-30mph.  Expect limited amount of sunshine as the clouds are checking in by mid-day and mixed with those relentless winds...we've got us a gray, very blustery afternoon.  The ocean's relatively still warm at 59° which is keeping a bit of a warm insulator over the island.  There's a distinct difference between the mainland and the island's weather right now.  When changing seasons, the island's always wiping up the rear in the weather department.  Mainland's always first to experience the changing seasons...we're always last.  That includes warmer and milder weather sticking around just a bit longer.  Today though...my thoughts are that it'll be a raw, cold day beginning this afternoon.  I don't care if the air and ocean temps are an insulating mid-upper 50s or not...those winds will be a challenging sea breeze for sure.  Don't rule out "mist" especially tonight.  Winds like these will produce lots of sea mist (terrific for the complexion).  As for tonight...clouds, more winds (S-SW 25-35 +gusting), mist leading to rain.  We'll be waking to rain tomorrow morning.  That rain by the way will be out of here my mid-day but those winds are staying checked in.  Oh...I almost forgot...New Moon's tomorrow.  And, just like the Full Moon it creates much higher (and sometimes even higher) than normal tides.  Don't drive through tidewater.

TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's on her way and will most likely make a beautiful grand entrance with the splattering of clouds in the brightening sky.  It's breezy with NW winds at 16-20mph making it feel like 38°.  It'll be a crisp, breezy autumn day with temps tapping 50°, plenty of sunshine and winds out of the NW at 11-18 with gusts of 28mph.  Tonight... clear with breezes simmering down out of the W-NW at 9-12mph and temps in the low-mid 40s.  The weekend's looking eh...a little of this and that as showers could be on the weather menu Saturday overnight into Sunday morning but for the most part, I think we'll see lots of sunshine.

Turning Into A Decent (and blustery) Day

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  (No typo).   It's mild out there this morning with the fragrance of the Marsh along with the sounds of surf crashing the shores. We've got cloud cover and everything's wet from a wee-morning shower.  We could see another before daybreak but expect a mostly sunny day with temps almost tapping 60° once the clouds check out.  Not much in the line of breezes at the moment...W-NW at 7-9mph but winds will be ramping up today out of the West at 20-25mph and by tonight...W-NW at 28-35mph w/gusting
as temps drop down into the mid-upper 40s.

Partly Gray Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast and cloudy (some clearing here and there over at the horizon) and breezy with winds out of the E-NE at 18-20mph.  The early morning clouds are creating an insulator for that ocean noise...love the sound of the waves crashing.  It sounds like there's a highway down the street full of rush hour traffic but we know better...the ocean's 6 blocks away pounding the beach and no one's around as the island's pretty desolate.  It'll be a mostly cloudy with Ms Sun making her way through and still chilly with temps barely tapping 50° and breezes out of the E-NE; then East; then finally tonight...SE all around 10-12mph.  It'll be a mostly overcast / cloudy evening too but with rain showers due in late.  We might even wake to rain tomorrow morning.  Tonight's temps...upper 40s.  Grab the hairspray as the next 4 days are looking like bad hair days as the Autumn winds (wish it was "Summer Breeze") are checking in for a nice long weekend.  Speaking of the weekend...looking gray
and windy at this time (but weather can always change).

Happy Veterans Day!

My husband's Platoon - Circa 1969 (2nd row/2nd from Right)
Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Veterans Day! This day of dedication is for all the Vets who have served and are serving in our military providing American's freedom.  Who knows what I'd be doing at this moment without my freedom.  This is my Veterans Day blog as my words are dedicated to you. It's clear and cold as the North winds are blowing at 12-18mph creating a 14° chill factor.  It's freezing and very unpleasant out there.  We're talking..."Why am I not in Florida" cold.  I love how the next season's weather creeps in giving you subtle glimpses and samplings of what's to come and then relaxes its grip providing what should be the weather norm.  Winter never is subtle though.  Never.  I'm losing my grip here as Winter's knocking at the front door.  Back to the current seashore weather...It's a crisp, clear morning with the fragrance of the Marshes in the biting air.  Ms Sun's heading over the horizon within a ½ hour.  It'll be a "pot of chili" Saturday with clear, sunny skies, cold temps (high of 39°) and winds out of the North at 12-15mph.  Tonight...clouds begin to roll on in with temps in the upper 20s / lower 30s with breezes out of the E-NE at 2-4mph.  Tomorrow...cloudy with peeks of sun and temps in the low-mid 40s with hardly a breeze.

Blustery Day Off

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear (Ms Sun is up and a'tem).  It's windy...N-NW 25-30mph.  It feels like 39° with the "windy chill factor".  I slept in a bit thanks to the Veterans as the holiday honoring them (tomorrow) is a celebrated holiday today.  Extremely grateful to all who have served our country including my hubby.  Other gratefulness includes...my furnace as it's back on for another cold season and "is" working (so far, so good), my warm slippers, my hot cup of coffee and freshly baked corn muffins which I whipped up before making the bed and settling down for the blog.  It's going to be our first wintry day on the island this autumn season.  It'll be sunny day with some clouds hanging around as the temps continue to drop and the winds pick up.  By dinner time, it'll be in the low-mid 30's with winds continuing to howl from the N-NW at 20-25mph +gusting.  Tonight...temps will drop into the mid 20s (no typo) with those pesky winds adding to the chill.  I guess it's not only time to test the furnace, but dig out the scarf and gloves.   It'll be blue-sky sunny tomorrow with a high of 44° with the winds finally simmering down.  Sunday...gray.

Peeks of Sun Coming Later

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  The cloud cover is still checked in with light breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  It'll be mostly cloudy again today as temps barely reach 60°.  I'm expecting some peeks of sunshine today as 2 of my weather sources said partial sunshine by sometime this afternoon.  Tonight...partly clear with partial cloud cover and temps in the mid-upper 40s with breezes out of the E-SE at 3-5mph early in the evening. They'll begin to increase as we get into the overnight (W-NW 15-25mph).  Tomorrow those winds will be ramped up even more and howling right through you out of the NW at 25+ mph creating a chill factor in the 30s (no typo).   Oh...and as for the weekend...sunny Saturday but cold (high of 42°) and cloudy Sunday with slightly warmer temps.

More Gray Dampness

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We're still under cloud cover with breezes out of the N-NE at 18-20mph giving us a 35° chill factor.  Brrrr...and my furnace still hasn't been fired up yet!  By the looks of this weekend's forecast, it will be and I'm just hoping it does fire up.  Our little gas fireplace has been doing the trick in its place for now though.  It'll be another crapola day with no sun to warm us...just those clouds which seem to be overstaying their welcome as of late along with those N-NE winds at 17-23mph.  All forecasts are saying cloudy with 15-25% chance of rain showers to add to today's weather mix.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with a slight possibility of showers, breezes out of the NE at 18-20mph and temps back down into the mid-upper 40s.  And, it looks like Ms Sun could be peeking through tomorrow!

Election Day in New Jersey!

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  It's breezy (NE 13-16mph).  It's clear and starlit.  The porch thermometer was almost 20° warmer this time yesterday morning and it feels cold and crisp out there this early morn.  Sorry to say it'll be a washout at the Polls as we get into later this morning / early afternoon.  The rain clouds are-a-coming!  There's a 100% chance of rain showers today with temps in the mid-upper 50s and NE winds at 15-20mph.  Tonight...more rain with temps in the upper 40s and breezes out of the N-NE at 20-25mph w/gusting.  What a crapola forecast especially when you have to walk down the boardwalk to cast your vote at the Polls; or even better yet...when you're scheduled to have new carpeting installed in your bedrooms.  Oh well...Mother Nature always has the final say.

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining with Easterly breezes at 9-12mph.  Expect some rain especially this morning (40% chance).  It should be light and only occasional but all the forecasts I've checked said rain mostly this morning.  By this afternoon...it could be just an occasional, brief, light shower but one thing's certain...it'll be mostly cloudy. (Don't rule out peeks of sun too).  Temps will be in the mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the S-SE at 10-12mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low 60s and breezes out of the S-SW at 9-10mph.  The Full Moon rises at 6:30p.m. if today's clouds provide enough clearance for visibility.  And, we're no longer in Daylight Savings Time as all the clocks were turned back an hour last night.

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got a repeat of yesterday...starting with starlit, moonlit skies and not much in the line of breezes this morning.  It'll be another pleasant, mild, Indian-Summer kind of day with temps tapping 70° and plenty of sunshine.  Breezes will be out of the SW at 10-12mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 50s and breezes out of the N-NW at 5-10mph.  The weekend forecast has switched up as the clouds decide to check in tomorrow and provide a chance of rains Saturday night into Sunday and possibly Monday.  Just saying.  We may not see the beautiful harvest full moon this weekend after all but there's always tonight...Moonrise is at 6:03p.m.!
High tide:7:41a.m.

All Souls Day (A Day to Commemorate All Those Who Have Departed)

First Presbyterian Church of Cape May NJ
Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels mild when stepping outside.  It's cloudy and still (no breezes to note) with the aroma of the sea and sound of the ocean's waves crashing on the shore.  It'll be a nice day with partial sunshine (once most of the clouds check out this morning) with temps tapping 70° and breezes out of the S-SW at 8-10mph.  Tonight...clear with breezes switching a bit from the S-SE at 10-13mph and temps in the low 60s.  It should make for some lovely almost full moon illumination.  I was going to type...almost full "moon shine" but it just didn't work.  The next several days and nights (at least up until Monday) have clear sunny and moonlit skies with no rain in the forecast.  The weekend's looking good but with a bit cooler, more seasonable temps.  Speaking of the weekend, there are a couple things...it's that time of the month...Full Moon time (on Saturday) and it'll be rising at 6:44p.m. over the ocean's horizon.  Also...it's that time of the year as it's the end of Daylight Savings time and those clocks have to be turned back an hour before turning in Saturday night.  I'm not even going to mention when Sunday's sunset will be.  As we take one day at a time...today's weather is a keeper while we reflect on all our dearly departed.
High tide:6:57a.m. and 7:20p.m.
Low tide:1:03p.m.
Ocean temp:65°
Sunset:6:00p.m.
