Bluster's Back

Mornin'!  It's 49° as the NW winds-are-a-howling creating some big time bluster.  Coming from the NW all day at 20-25mph with 40+mph gusts, we're talking a major bad hair day from those northwesteries.  Sun's up and the sky is clear and it'll be mostly sunny today with some clouds and temps reaching the low 60s.  It'll be cooler for the weekend as the winds will bring not only cooler temps but rain by Saturday overnight.  Sunday will become sunny although cooler.  Today's tides...High tide: 12:18p.m.; Low tide: 6:07p.m.; Ocean temp: 53°; Sunset: 7:50p.m.
Now as for the weather next week, anyone reading this is on their own as it's vacation time again.  Hubby and I are heading south to sunny, warm Florida and spending a week in Key West!  For me a true vacation is from the computer as well.  Although, I keep a hand written journal of my trip, the blog takes a vacation for next week as I carry no laptop and visit no internet cafés.  If you want Wildwood's (the local) weather report then just click on some of my Personal Favs to the right of my blog:
Dippin' Dan - The Local Forecast man. (He's got a high accurary rate in my opinion).  Also, NOAA (Nat'l Weather Service) is a good source for local weather.  Just type in "Wildwood, NJ" under the City,State block.  And of course...Weather.com and type in the island's zip code (08260) and last but not least is my personal favorite resource for weather and tides and waves and sunsets etc. http://magicseaweed.com/Wildwood-Surf-Report/392/
Until next week, I'll be lounging on a beach in Key West, reading a book and just watching the world go by! Here's the Key West webcams if you want to catch me somewhere on the island there...www.floridakeyswebcams.tv

Looking Wet

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood.  The sky is just beginning to lighten and it's looking cloudy out there.  The ocean horizon seems a bit clear and it's giving off pastel shades of coral and pink and even a reddish hue.  And we don't want "red sky in the morning" as sailors must take warning.  There's alot going on today.  First off, it's a bit breezy.  Winds will be coming from the SE all day at 10-15mph and shift late this afternoon/early evening from the West.  Temps will be in the low 60's.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with an 80% chance of rain this morning and that includes a thunderstorm thrown in the mix.  As the day progresses it'll begin to dry out although this afternoon will still have a 30% chance of a shower or two.  By this evening...clearing.  A sunny day returns tomorrow.

A Tad Warmer

Mornin'!  It's 52° and clear over WW this early morning.  It's looking like a lovely sunrise in about 3 minutes.  Not too much of a breeze at the moment, but the winds will be returning today beginning from the W-SW and shifting later this afternoon out of the W-NW all at 15-20mph gusting at 25+mph.  Temps should hit the low 60's and it'll feel a tad warmer as the sun will be shining most of the day.  It'll feel like a nice Spring Day at the shore.  Not so much tomorrow.

Chilly Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's a chilly 47° in WW this morning.  Temps will rise into the mid-high 50's but the winds are staying checked in creating a bit of a chill today.  Although the skies will be clearer than yesterday, the clouds are heading over us from the W-SW at 15-25 mph with some gusting...sweater weather no doubt.  One forecaster mentioned a very slight chance of a shower this morning.  I'm going with "no" on that one, but yes to a sweater.

Wet Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 49° this early morn.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50's today.  It's wet outside.  At the moment no rain falling from the sky, but everything is soaking, wringing, wet.  We had a nice dousing of rain this weekend and overnight last night. That pollen should be taken care of.  The gardens and seedlings and roses have had their dousing too.  I consider this perfect rose (my roses are full of buds) and parsley weather...they love a good couple days of rain and cooler temps. There's a 20% chance of showers all day today and 30% tonight.  Sun returning tomorrow will make my shrubs and me even happier.  The pesky winds will continue to wift (I mean waft) over the island all day coming out of the W-SW at 15-20mph with gusting all day long into the evening.

Happy Earth Day!

Mornin'! It's 50° in Wildwood.  It's going to be a "soggy Sunday" and the drizzles are out there to prove it.  We had some rain showers overnight and will continue to have them this morning, the afternoon and this evening.  Forecasters are saying we could get up to 2" or more by tomorrow.  A Nor'easter is approaching our coast today.  Temp will be in the mid-50's, Winds will be out of the N-NE and switching from the East later at 15-20mph with gusting of 30+ (possibly 40) mph.  Wildwood will be wet and windy.  So, let's say a few things about "Earth Day" shall we?  Since moving to the coast (almost 8 yrs. ago) I've witnessed some very upsetting littering of the island.  I had no clue until I lived here. Now, this very small island broken down consists of 4.59 square miles.  Wildwood: 1.29 sq.miles, North Wildwood:1.2 sq.miles: Wildwood Crest: 1.2 sq. miles, West Wildwood: .9 sq.miles.  The trash littering this island is mindblowing (especially on a windy day).  Nothing is worse than plastic bags or bottles littering the beaches, dunes or streets.  My hubby and I are constantly picking up someone's plastic that's headed directly into the bay or ocean.  The worst part is the entire world has beaches and if one coastal region (4.59 sq. miles) is a contributor to destroying the sea, I can only imagine how grave the condition of our Earth is as we all are guilty and in this together.  Happy Earth Day!

Wild, Wet, Windy Weekend (say that fast 5 times!)

Mornin'!  It's 56° this morning in Wildwood.  Sun's shining (could be briefly) and there's plenty of cloud cover up there.  Gulls are laughing.  Sea fragrance is back this morning.  We're in for a wild weather weekend.  Rain and wind are-a-coming.  It'll be partly sunny just this morning and perhaps into this afternoon as the clouds increase.  Temps will rise into the high 60's and the thermometer may even tap the 70° mark.  Rain's moving in a bit later and will become steadier tonight and overnight.  We may even have a possible rumble of thunder.  Winds will be out of the S-SW at 15-20mph with some gusting and even windier tonight and tomorrow.  Speaking of tomorrow...I might be breaking in my Christmas "Wellies"...a Nor'easter is heading this way.  Just saying.

Nice ending to the week

Mornin'! It's 49° this morning. I'd like to say the sky is clear but it's got some major cloud cover. It depends where you look. Just over the ocean looks bright and clear but above my head not so much. My bet...it's gonna be a lovely sunrise and that'll be in less than a half hour. The best part of this morning is the sound and smell of the surf. We're talking some intensity...loud roaring ocean and I'm six blocks away not to mention the fragrant sea air is thick and aromatic.  You know, that dark, wet sand, fishy smell which is the best part of living on an island! It'll be nice today as the week closes on a warm, dry note. It'll be mostly clear with clouds, but dry as temps will reach the mid-upper 60's as that seabreeze E-ESE at 5-10mph will be wifting (wafting) over us all day. Weekend: eh...Saturday afternoon thunderstorms (30% chance) and Sunday looks like it could be a total washout. I'm switching out my winter clothes and boots out this weekend. Pedicure's coming next week and I'm jonesing for my flipflops. Life is good.

Drizzly Start

Mornin'! It's 52° this gray and drizzly morning in Wildwood. It's looking like some light rain off and on most of the a.m. It's supposed to slowly clear as the clouds head out later making a decent, partly sunny afternoon in WW. Temps will be in the high 50's, maybe just tapping the 60° mark. WInds will be out of the SE at 5-10mph. High tide:7:50a.m.; Low tide:1:44p.m.; Ocean temp:52°; Sunset: 7:42p.m.

More Seasonable

Mornin'! It's 56° in Wildwood. The sky is partially clear when you look west and when looking east by the ocean there are some thick clouds. As the day progresses, the clouds will thicken even more until the island's under total cloud cover and rain showers commence by this afternoon continuing right through the overnight. Temps will just about hit the 60° mark. Winds will be out of the NE at 10-15mph. Sun's supposed to return tomorrow.

Warmer

Mornin'! It's 66° this morning as the sun's just about to cross the horizon. The seagulls seem happy as they're all laughing while welcoming the day. It'll be mostly sunny and warmer as temps rise into the mid-upper 70's. Winds will be out of the NW at 15-20mph. Yesterday while enjoying my lunch and finishing another great book and as I sat in my car near the seawall, it amazed me to see all the folks climbing out of their vehicles barefoot wearing nothing more than a sundress or tank top or a bathing suit. My guess is everyone looked like they were coming for a day trip to the island expecting to enjoy a nice warm beach day when in fact it was sunny and chilly with a nice, cool seabreeze. As I sat enjoying the show, I was grateful to be in my vehicle with windows down, with a light jacket as well as having shoes and socks on. Wildwood wasn't quite there yesterday but with the land breeze today...we could be. It remains to be seen. It will beautiful today but a beach day, it's your call. Summer's coming, but we're not there yet. 64 more days!

Nice down the Shore

Mornin'! It's 55° this early morn. The sun will be rising in less than an hour and will be a beauty as the sky is perfectly clear. Birds are happy as their welcoming the start of a new week with sweet melodic chirps as I blog away. No sound of seagulls yet, but they'll be harmonizing in no time. It's been really nice down the shore recently and will continue to be just that today. Temps are rising into the low 70's as it'll be mostly sunny, breezy and warm. Winds will be gusting as they wift (I mean waft) in from the SW-SSW at 15-25mph. We're still keeping attentive to the dry conditions all around as anything that could ignite a fire could have disastrous consequences on the island as of late. Watch your butts!

Sunny, Warm, Windy Sunday

Mornin'! It's 55° this wet Sunday morn. Sun rose about a half hour ago but was obscured by rain clouds. It's trying to dry out as I type, but looks like it could rain any minute. It'll become mostly sunny after 7-8a.m. It'll be warm and windy with temps going into the lo-mid 70's and winds wafting in from the SW @ 15-20mph with gusting. I'm thinking there's still "fire warnings" posted even with the light rains overnight so once again watch your butts.

Nice One!!!

Mornin'! It's 51° this sunny morning. Slept in a bit and missed the sunrise, but its rays are pouring into my front porch windows. It'll be a sunny start to the weekend. Clouds (high clouds) will filter in later but it'll feel mild as the temps will head into the mid-upper 60's. Winds will be a bit more gentle than mid-week coming from the SW at 10-15mph with some minor gusting. "High Fire Danger" postings are still up so once again...Watch Your Butts!!! We may get rain showers over night into the morning. All in all an "OK Day" to be down the shore.

Plenty of Sun, Less Wind and Milder Temps

Mornin'! It's 47° this start to the weekend. Happy Friday! Man oh man I could use a Friday right about now. It'll be a nice one too! Sun's just about to rise over the horizon and there's going to be plenty of sun today (rain could come tomorrow on the overnight). The sky looks incredible at the moment. The NW winds will still be hanging out but at a much calmer clip...10-15mph. And, the temperature will be hovering around the 60° mark.

Thursday Mix

Mornin'! It's 43° this cool, breezy morn on the island. Sky's brightening and clear as the sun's ready to pop over the horizon. Temps are heading into the low-mid 50's and breezes will be once again from the NW and blustery at 18-20mph w/gusting. There's a possibility of sprinkles of a passing shower by late this afternoon making today a mix of clouds and sun. Still "fire dangers" out there...watch your butts.

Changin' Up A Bit

Mornin' It's 45° in Wildwood this clear early morn. Sky is clear and we'll definitely see a sunrise in just a ½ hour or so. The sky won't stay clear though as the NW winds (15-25 w/gusts) are going to provide the clouds that will make the day turn from sunny to partly sunny to partly cloudy to cloudy. There's a 20% chance of a shower later into this evening. We can only hope as the island and surrounding areas are still dry as a bone and we're still in the "Red Flag" zone regarding fires. This week, North Wildwood/Anglesea, Winslow, Tabernacle and Barnegat all have had fires due to the dry conditions and winds. I keep saying it..."watch your butts". Today's temps will reach the mid-upper 50's (back to sweater weather).

Repeat of Yesterday

Mornin'! It's 52° under clear skies. Even though the moon's no longer full, it's shining brightly down on us this early morn. It'll be another nice today as Temps will tap the 60° mark again while being mostly sunny. Later this afternoon the West winds will bring in clouds and a cool front and with it a 20% chance of a shower into the evening. Yesterday's early evening shower was more like a fly-by sprinkling. Let's talk about the "Westerly" winds...they'll be coming at us at 15-20mph with 25+mph gusts all day. Not good when we're still in "Red Flag Fire Warning" mode. It's been extremely dry as of late and that coupled with stiff winds provide a perfect formula for fires. New Jersey's experiencing some pineland forest fires recently and the island's had to contend with a few bouts of dune, marsh and mulch fires. Watch your butts! So far this week we'll have some decent weather unlike what was forecasted. Tomorrow is the day we'll see the most rain. So they say anyway.

Breezy Nice Start to the Day and Week

Mornin'! It's 53° in Wildwood. The sky is clear and just beginning to lighten. Sun's due up in less than an hour and we'll definitely see a beautiful sunrise this morning. It'll be mostly sunny today with temps in the lo-mid 60's. Breezes will put a spin on things as they're coming from the West at 20-25mph with 40mph gusts. Those gusts will not only rearranging patio furniture, but bring along a cold front as well as rain later. There's a 40% chance of scattered rain showers beginning later this evening. The entire week looks a bit gray as there's a chance of rain every day right up until Thursday. I'm just saying. Hope this wasn't anyone's Wildwood vacation week.

Mornin'! It's 43° with clear, sunny skies and minimal breezes. The aroma of the sea is in the air. The seagulls can be heard in the distance laughing all around the neighborhoods as I type. It'll be sunny and bright and clear all day long. Winds are coming from the WNW-W at 15-20mph througout the day. Temps will just be tapping the 60° mark. An Eggs-cellent Easter Sunday for sure!

Holy Saturday

Mornin'! It's 43° in Wildwood this early morn. Temps will rise into the upper 50's today and lots of sunshine will be tagging along and so will the breezes. Winds out of the N-NW will be blowing over the island at a brisk clip today at 20-25mph. There's still fire danger due to the winds and dry conditions as of late. It's looking like a lovely weekend and definitely sweater weather for all those Easter Egg Hunts today and tomorrow. Caught the fabulous moon rise last night!

Full Moon Good Friday and Passover

Mornin'! It's 41° in Wildwood. The sky is still dark, but with brilliant stars and moon shining over the island this early morn. It's Full Moon Good Friday. Actually it's known as "Full Pink" Moon as this moon heralds first spring flowers and ground phlox. Full Moon in April is also known to historically bring "frost" and if the moon rises "pale" expect rain. Today's Full Moon should be rising tonight at 7:43p.m. and according to forecasters will be big, bright and brilliant as no rain is expected. It'll be chilly today with plenty of sunshine. Temps will be in the low-50's with winds coming out of the N-NE at 15-25mph w/gusting. Remember the Full Moon will bring with it tidal flooding. And due to breezy, dry conditions, the Alert to be aware of fires which could easily ignite and spread is still posted. Watch your butts!

Not as Warm; Lots of Sunshine!

Mornin'! It's 46° this early morn in Wildwood. Skies are clear and brightly starlit. The aroma of the sea is in the air. It's going to be a lovely day at the Shore, albeit cooler than the last couple days but with lots of sunshine! Temps will be in the mid-upper 50's and may just tap the 60° mark. Winds will be out of the N-NW at 10-20mph and could be significantly lower by midday. There's no rain in the forecast until next week. With that said...there are a couple hazardous weather reports. One, some tidal flooding is expected on the island due to the full moon approaching tomorrow. Don't drive through flood waters...it's salt water and will damage the under carriage of your vehicle. And, two...fire weather concerns are posted due to the low humidity/dry conditions coupled with the breezes expected which can be a fire threat to the dunes on the island not to mention the brush and pinelands on the mainland. Careful with those cigarette butts!

Mornin'! It's 53° this early morn in Wildwood. The sky is dark and mostly cloud covered as the moon and stars are only partially visible at the moment. It'll be partly to mostly sunny as the day develops. Temperature will just tap the 70° mark and make for a beautiful day at the shore, although cooler temps will develop as we get over the hump. NW winds will be wifting (I mean wafting) over the island at 10-20mph.

Northwesterlies Checking In!

Mornin'! It's 46° in Wildwood this early morn. Sun's due up in ½ hour and due to the cloud cover directly over the horizon, will probably be obscured. The cloud cover directly overhead though isn't very thick. The morning midnight blue sky is just appearing. My guess is that it could change within minutes as the Winds are the main character in today's forecast. They're coming from the NW at 20-25mph with 30+mph gusts and the clouds are moving out over the ocean at a pretty decent clip. The winds will stick around all day. Forecasters are saying that there's a 20% chance of a shower before 9a.m. that is if we get enough cloud cover. The rest of the day is looking sunny and bright albeit very breezy and definitely a bad hair day. Oh...temps will stick around in the low-mid 50's. I'd bring a sweater if I were you.

Happy April! Happy Palm Sunday!

Mornin'! Happy April! Happy Palm Sunday! It's 43° in Wildwood with cloudly, calm conditions. Sun's due up in less than a ½ hour, but we won't be seeing a sunrise this morning due to the thick cloud cover. The sun's suppose to have a morning appearance, but by the way the sky's looking I'm second guessing the forecasters. I mean we may see some peeks through the palms but Showers are expected at times later today and even more so tonight. Temps will be in the lo-mid 50's and it appears it won't be a complete repeat of yesterday's raw, chilly day. Winds will be out of the North then shift from the South by this afternoon at 10-15mph.
