Labor Day Weekend 2013!!!

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood under sunny skies.  Got a little shopping done this morning right out of the gate as that's what locals do on a holiday weekend when they need groceries, postal services and a WalMart pit stop.  So, it was all done and behind me at 8:30a.m. and I'm finally sipping my coffee blogging.  The island's thick with parked cars and traffic coming over the George Redding bridge.  It's becoming warm out there as the heat and humidity have already begun creeping in for the holiday weekend.  It'll be the nicest of the 3-day holiday weekend.  No rain in the forecast unlike tomorrow and Monday.  It'll be tapping the low-80's with breezes from the S-SW at 15-20mph and by dinner time 20-30mph.  Tonight...clear and back into the low-70's and breezy.  Sunday and Monday...partly sunny/partly cloudy with chances of isolated thunderstorms.

Last Friday of August

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and the sun's just about to rise.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps tapping 80°s along with a touch of humidity thrown in the mix.  Breezes will be out of the North and then shift South at 5-10mph.  The holiday weekend's looking "eh" with chances of thunderstorms throughout as Saturday's looking like the best of the days and Sunday and Monday greater chances of rain.  Still keeping a close eye on that one.

Looking Good!

Mornin'!  It's 71 humid degrees this morning in WW.  The clouds are still covering the sky and my bets are no beautiful sunrise.  However, the clouds will begin decreasing and by late morning - early afternoon...sunny skies!  Temps will increase and tap the 80° mark as breezes will wift (I mean waft) in from the E-NE at 10-15+mph.  Doesn't look like rain is in any of today's forecasts that I've researched.  Not so for the weekend unfortunately as Sunday and Monday are "iffy" and I'm keeping a close watch on the rainy forecasts for that.  Tonight...clear and back into the 60's.

A Little Red Sky In The Morning

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood.  We're under clear (slightly reddish) skies as the sun is due up in the next ½ hour.  It should be a nice sunrise this morning.  But, you know what "red sky in the morning" means! :"Sailors take warning".   No breezes at the moment.  They'll be around later this morning/early afternoon from the S-SW at only 6-8mph.  Temps will be in the low 80's and feeling warmer due to the high humidity. Like yesterday, there's that continued chance of a scattered thunderstorm (60%) and rain showers.  We never did get any rain yesterday.  In fact, it was a perfect beach day as the humidity and sun provided a warm summer-like day.  It'll be pretty much the same for today but with a greater chance of being overcast with clouds and rain.  Remains to be seen so keep your eye on the sky or better yet the doppler. http://weather.weatherbug.com/NJ/Wildwood-weather/local-radar/doppler-radar.html

2 years ago today...

2011 North Wildwood beach after Irene
Mornin'!  Two years ago today was my first evacuation due to Hurricane Irene hitting our Shore.  It's 73° under partly cloudy skies this early morn.  Humidity's been creeping back up.  Rain is forecasted for today (40% chance) as a cool front approaching later will bring with it rain and an increased chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.  We still may see peeks and of sunshine as the temps tap the 80° mark again. Winds will be coming from the West all day at mostly 10-13mph with some variations.  Keep in mind West breezes bring those pesky, biting greenhead flies.  Prepare accordingly.  Tonight...partly cloudy with a chance of rain (40% chance). Low of 72°. Winds from the West at 5 to 10 mph.

Last Monday in August

Mornin'!  It's 66° and a wee bit cloudy in Wildwood at the moment.  Not sure if we'll see Ms. Sun rising this morning but she's heading over the horizon in a few minutes.  The clouds could make for a lovely canvas as the morning sky becomes painted.  It'll be another lovely day at the shore as it'll be mostly sunny with temps tapping the 80° mark.  The breezes are coming from the SW at 15-20mph.  Tonight more clouds than not will be up above as there's a 30% chance of a thunderstorm.

Lovely Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood this sunny Sunday morn.  Sun's up and shining brightly with breezes light out of the NE.  It'll be mostly sunny and with hardly any humidity and temps only in the mid-high 70's today.  My guess is we'll tap 80°.  Breezes won't be a stiff as yesterday (sand in the ears kinda day) as they'll switch from the NE and then eventually turn from E-SE at 6-10mph.  Looking lovely!

Mornin'!  It's 64° this sunny Saturday.  Looking like a nice weekend as the humidity's low, temps are nice and the sun's gonna shine all weekend.  It'll be mostly sunny today with temps in the high 70's tapping 80° and humidity will be outta here.  Breezes are coming from the NE and later...E-NE at 12-15mph.  It's a beauty!

Looking good!

Mornin'!  It's 72° this morning on the island.  Sun's up.  Breezes are wifting (I mean wafting) in from the N-NW at 7-12mph.  The sea air smells lovely.  The gulls seem to think so as they appear to be laughing out loud in the neighborhood.  It'll be a beauty today as it'll be mostly sunny while the temps tap the low-80's today and the humidity drops down a tad.  The weekend's still looking like a keeper!

Thursday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 72° in WW.  It must have rained recently as everything's good and wet.  That's including all outdoor furniture cushions.  On the positive side...mother nature did the watering of my gardens for me!  It's mostly cloudy at the moment, but that big blue moon is shining through a nice big section of clear sky.  My guess is Ms. Sun isn't going to win the sunrise battle with the thick easterly clouds this morning.  It'll be mostly cloudy with peeks of sun today.  There's a 40% chance of rain showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the day (30% chance tonight).  Winds are nothing to write home about at the moment but will wift (I mean waft) in from the SW at 9-13mph.  Temps will be in the low 80's with humidity sticking around.  At this point, the weekend's looking like a keeper.

Humpdee

Mornin'!  It's 70° this hazy, humid, aromatic and very still humpday in WW.  Not a leaf is moving on the trees as the fragrance of the surrounding waters encase the island.  It'll be clear but a bit hazy, warm and humid today under mostly sunny skies and
temps in the low-80's. Breezes will be light out of the S-SW at 7-10mph.

Full Moon Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 68° this somewhat hazy morn in Wildwood.  Temps will climb up into the high 70's possibly tapping the low 80's today as the warmth and humidity begin to build.  Our sneak preview of Autumn is coming to an end for now.  It'll be mostly sunny and a bit on the hazy, slightly overcast side today.  Breezes will be out of the NW initially then shift from the South later this afternoon all at a gentle 5-8mph.  It's Full Moon time again as August is the month of the Full Sturgeon Moon. Some Native American tribes knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full Moon. Others called it the Green Corn Moon or the Grain Moon. It's also the "Blue Moon" as it's the 3rd of 4 full moons to take place between the Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox.

Monday Mix

Sunset Lake - Wildwood Crest
Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood. The sky remains gray and ominous but the sun's trying her best to paint all the clouds up there exquisite shades of pinks, corals, lavender, yellow etc.  It's so beautiful.  No breezes to write about but they'll be wifting (I mean wafting) through later from the SW at 8-10mph.   Not sure how much grayness will be in the picture today but 3 forecasts I've checked all said, "Mostly cloudy" today.  By early this afternoon, there's a 20% chance of an isolated shower and/or thunderstorm.  Tonight...that chance of precipitation stays the same as temps drop back into the 60's from going up into the mid-upper 70's (maybe tapping the 80° mark) today.

Pull out "Plan B" today

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood.  It's overcast
and there's a stiff breeze out of the E-NE.  No rain falling but it's coming.  You can feel it.  It'll be cloudy, breezy and rainy today.  Temps will be sticking around just about where they are at the moment (low-mid 70's) and breezes will shift a bit by late morning coming from the N-NE at 19-24mph.  One forecast said 30% chance of rain today and another said 80% chance.  Rains (whatever the chance) will continue off and on throughout the day into the overnight and continue through until tomorrow.  Looks like Plan "B" is in effect today.

Big Weekend Lineup

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood.  It's overcast and breezy.  The Triathlon is happening as I type.  It's also the Philadelphia Soul Slam (flag football tournament), the 28th annual Wildwoods Classic Cup Hobie Cat races, and the Rubber Ducky Regatta (don't ask) this weekend on the island.  Alot happening in the Woods.  Not sure if the weather will cooperate but it's going to be mostly cloudy today and breezy (E-NE and eventually East) with temps in the mid-upper 70's.  Rain (60% chance) is due tonight (overnight) with a slight possibility today but it's looking like just a cloudy, breezy day.   Tomorrow...a bit cloudier with 80% chance of rain.  Not the best weather for a weekend as we head into the final weekends of summer.  Amazing how fast the end draws near.  The "Jewel" of the entire year is yet to be upon us though.  The Fall in Wildwood is the finest, most extraordinary time of year.  I'm actually letting out our secret.

Another Fall preview

Mornin'!  It's 62° again in Wildwood.  It's another lovely morning on the island.  We're up and atom.  Sun's just about up.  Windows are up (the fragrance of the sea is seeping into the house). The seagulls are up (squawking somewhere in the distance).  I'm "up" that it's Friday!   It'll be another beauty and preview of Fall down the Shore today although I'm hearing talk of another heatwave next week.  Temps will get up into the mid-upper 70's as it'll be mostly sunny (some clouds in the mix today) as breezes will be very light from the North initally; shifting from the NE and shifting again from the E-SE at 5-7mph.  Tonight will be clear and back into the low 60's with a 20% chance of rain on the overnight.  This is perfection as far as weather goes in my opinion...just perfection.  Not so much for the weekend though as Saturday there's a 20% chance of rain as it'll be mostly cloudy and Sunday...60% chance of rain.  Today though...woohoo!

An Autumn Preview

Mornin'!  I'm back!  Had a little blog reprieve while away from home and staying with my daughter for a few days.  It was a blast teaching her the ropes to being a new momma as well as diving into my new role as a new grandmom (G-G is what I'm now referred to).  She's taken on the role beautifully though and probably could sort through what's expected of her without much help from anyone.  I could probably begin a new blog on both our new paths in life.  I'm blessed and so grateful to have such a beautiful grandson.  As for the weather...it's 62° as Wildwood's experiencing a taste of Autumn this beautiful morning.  The windows are open allowing cool, fall-like air to filter into the house.  It's so nice outside as the sky is brightening while the sun's rising and the seagulls seem to be enjoying daybreak as much as me.  It'll be perfectly pleasant today as the sun will shine all day with temps staying in the 70's with light, minimal breezes.  Speaking of breezes, they'll commence from the N-NW at 5-7mph and by mid afternoon shift from the S-SW remaining light.  Enjoy as the weekend's looking kinda crappy with rain expected both Saturday and Sunday.  Today...a bit of an Autumn jewel preview.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood.  I was up early trying to catch the meteor shower but so far, no good.  It is clear though as the sky is beautifully starlit.  I'm counting on the clear sky to allow Ms. Sun to rise and shine brightly this morning.   No breezes to write home about.  It's looking like a nice one today as the forecast looks mostly sunny with temps in the low-80s and breezes light out of the E-SE at 8-10mph.  Tonight there's a 20% chance of an isolated shower.   It looks perfect for the North Wildwood Flea Market on JFK Blvd. today (which I'll be working by the way). Since I won't be on the island the for the next few days (taking time out for my daughter and my new grandson),  I won't be experiencing the island weather firsthand and not having the minute by minute forecast at my finger tips.  So, I've researched several of my weather sources to allow my readers some idea of the upcoming week's weather forecast.  I am aware (an honored) that I have readers looking for their vacation weather by reading my blog for Wildwood's weather.  It'll never grow old and it's why I continue to do so every morning.
Monday...Partly sunny with temps in the low 80's and a 30% chance of rain.
Tuesday...Mostly cloudy with temps in the low 80's and a 60% chance of rain.
Wednesday...Mostly sunny with temps in the high 70's and no chance of rain (at this time anyway).

A little of this and a little of that.

Mornin'!  It's 75° in muggy Wildwood.  The sky is still gray as Ms. Sun's doing everything she can to shine through the morning clouds.  Breezes are light from the N-NW and will shift later this morning from the W-NW at 5-10mph.  There's a 30% chance of a brief shower or two today and 10% tonight.  It won't be a washout as all the forecasts I've checked say today will be partly cloudy/partly sunny.  Temps will be in the low-80s.  Tomorrow looks much clearer...so far so good for the North Wildwood Flea Market along JFK Blvd.  For today...eh...I'd be keeping plan "B" in effect just in case.

Damp Friday

Mornin'!  It's 72° this early morn in Wildwood.  It's cloudy, breezy and humid.  Major "hummadity" as my father would call it.  I still have the airconditioner off and it seems like everything in the house is damp.  It's not raining but the moisture in the air is very heavy.  The forecasts all say mostly cloudy throughout the day today and bringing with it a 60% chance of scattered showers and/or thunderstorms.  By the way...tomorrow: 30% chance and Sunday: 10% chance.  Today though...gray,  possible peeks of sun and wet,  rainy, humidity with temps in the lo-mid 80's and breezes stiff from the SW at 20-27mph.  Could be another "Plan B" kinda day.

Cluster of Damp Muggies

Mornin'!  It's 72° in WW.  The sky is gray and cloud covered.  Doubt if Ms. Sun's gonna be presenting herself on the morning horizon.  It's a wee bit breezy coming from the SW at 15-20 and will continue to stay that way throughout the entire day into the evening increasing just a tad to 25+mph.  Forecast's not looking too great for fun in the sun.  It's going to be mostly cloudy as there's a 40% chance of rain showers and/or isolated thunderstorms today; tonight...30%; tomorrow...60%;  Saturday...50%.  After checking 3 different forecasts...it looks like the next decent beach day is Sunday.  The temps will tap the 80° mark as humidity will be seeping over the island for awhile.  It's looking like a cluster of damp muggy days are up ahead.  Keep "Plan B" in effect.

Plan "B"

Mornin'!  It's day 3 of 69° kicking off the day.  A bit earlier there was a fine line of "red" on the horizon.  Do I need to remind you what "red sky in the morning" means?  "Sailors take warning"...need I say more?  We're currently having a torrential, tropical downpour on the island.  No breezes as not a leaf on the trees is moving except for the watering they're receiving.  This downpour is an isolated cell crossing over our area and thankfully watering the gardens nicely.  It'll be partly cloudy today as more isolated cells are due along with some heavy downpours and even thunderstorms passing by (80% chance).  I expect we may see some clearing and peeks of sun, but keep an eye on the sky.  Temps are expected to reach the high 70's.  Winds will wift (I mean waft) in later from the S-SE at 16-20mph.  Not sure if today will be a complete washout but I'd certainly have Plan B ready to put into effect.

50-50 day

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood.  It's clear, very still and quiet (except for the seagulls on the corner who find something hysterically funny).  Ms. Sun's due up any minute.  The air conditioner's off and the house is still comfortable.  Speaking of which...it'll be another comfortable day as temps remain in the 70's and maybe just tapping the 80s.  It'll be party sunny as clouds will roll in giving us a 40% chance of some rain showers and possibly even a thunderstorm or two.  The chance is greater as we head into the overnight hours.  Winds will be barely noticeable but will eventually pick up from the S-SE at 15-20mph.  National Night Out is this evening for Wildwood (Fox Park at Burke and Ocean Aves) and North Wildwood (8th & Central Ave. Field) beginning at 5:30p.m.  Hopefully, the unsettled evening weather will hold out for it.

Perfection!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood.  What a lovely morning!  I'm seeing this morning's magnificently painted sunrise through brand new vision as I became a grandmom yesterday for the first time.  Our new little boy was welcomed into the world as Thomas and weighed in at 7lb. 15oz./21½" long and is pure perfection.  What a wonderful gift!  The joy of watching his parents fall in love while I imagine this little new addition coming to the shore and becoming a frequent island visitor, getting sand in his shoes and falling in love with the seashore as I have...simply makes me smile.  Today will be much like yesterday...a beauty!  Lots of sun and blue sky as temps stick around the high 70's maybe tapping 80° by mid-afternoon.  Winds are very light, dry and cool from the N-NW at 8-10mph and will shift by mid-afternoon from the South.  In a word..."Perfection".

Gray Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 73° in WW.  It's still (no breezes).  It's gray and overcast and a bit on the humid side.  It's quiet.  It doesn't sound too promising for today's forecast.  We were supposed to get showers and/or thunderstorms early this evening but all the forecasts I've checked are saying rain by early this afternoon (30% chance).  And, by this evening...60% chance of rain which may continue throughout the overnight.  Winds will wift (I mean waft) in from the West at 8-11mph.  If by any chance a couple of hours of beach time can be salvaged, it'll probably be in the morning hours when we may see peeks of sun but, prepare for greenhead flies.  Our local weather man said that those pesky biters are hungry and those West winds are a perfect vehicle to drive them to the island and the beach.

First Friday in August

Mornin'!  It's 68° in cloudy, overcast Wildwood.  Ms. Sun is due in about a half hour and not sure if the clouds will move aside for her or not.  We have a spot of humidity at the moment as temps are comfortable but it's still muggy and damp outside. Yesterday's monsoon rains gave the island a really good saturation (not to mention flooding).  Once again those early rising seagulls are welcoming the day with loud laughter with no consideration to the sleepy vacationers.  It's looking like a beach day as these clouds will eventually move aside allowing Ms. Sun get through some of the gray haze and shine while temps ease back up into the low 80's.  Not a breeze to write about but they're coming later this morning.  First from the W-NW and shifting from the West and eventually from the SW at 10-15mph.  Could have a brief shower overnight.  We could have showers tomorrow as well (30% chance).  My bets are on a "beach day" so pack up the beach cart and make it happen.

Welcome August!

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood.  Hello there August!  I'm happy you're checking in even though you're coming in on a gray and rainy day as it's raining very lightly at the moment.  It's a Movie or WalMart day for sure as...
  • Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 80. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Tonight Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 68. West wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Winds are currently out of the South at 3-5mph and will ramp up later at 15-20, then shift from the S-SW at 25-30mph by early eveing.
