TGIF - With Rain Comin'

Mornin'!  It's 76° in Wildwood, NJ.  It's partially clear and breezy (S-SW 15-20mph).  Humidity's 94% with Dewpoint 75%.  The aroma of rain is in the sea breeze this morning but Ms Sun's trying to rise and shine.  Clear skies on the doppler at the moment.  All forecasts report that rain is on its way as there's a chance (40%) of rain showers and/or thunderstorms before noon.  Temps will just tap 80° with Southerly winds at 15-20mph.  Tonight...cloudy with even a higher chance (80%) of rain and/or thunderstorms (some could be severe) along with heavy winds (SW 20-25mph). Temps...back down into the low-mid 70s.  Tides could be higher as not only is the eclipse Monday but so is the "New" moon.  And, even three days out the Full and New moons do affect the tides big time especially if we're in for some heavy rains.  Ending on a good note...the weekend's looking mighty fine!
High tide:5:25a.m. and 5:50p.m.
Low tide:11:18a.m.
Ocean temp: 77°
Sunset:7:51p.m.
UV Index:5 (moderate)
Rip Current: moderate: very aggressive ocean

FOOTNOTE: It's 1:15p.m. and not a cloud in the sky.  We're having a perfectly warm, summer beach day since my early morning blog entry.  I just checked the doppler and no nasty weather systems nearby.  I guess tonight's forecast of rain showers and thunderstorms still remain to be seen.

Friday Beach Etiquette tips~
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any you see whether it's yours or not.     Note trash and recycle containers as The Wildwoods do recycle.
~Don't forget those cigarette butts...collect and trash them (or just don't smoke and pollute the lovely sea air). Never stick them in the sand and leave them...that'll be tomorrow's find for the little kid digging in the sand.  Plus, cigarette filters take years to decompose and could be taken to the ocean by the tides giving sea life harmful/toxic cigarette filter tidbits to swallow.
~Remember to pack headphones (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music blaring from your boom box).  Big, loud boom boxes are not welcomed on the beach.
~Kindly give your neighbors space when selecting your beach site. Courtesy is key. Careful not to plop down in others personal beach space.
~Teach children some beach etiquette. Running nearby others and kicking or throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it.  Dropping one potato chip thoughtlessly will create seagull havoc.
~Feeding the seagulls is a big no-no. Eat and snack smartly. Using hands to express emotion when holding your sandwich up or out is a magnet for swooping gulls.  Eat under your umbrella or hooded sand chair as the beach vultures (gulls) are eyeing beach goers constantly trying to find who's eating and looking for the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times). Once they get you then the havoc begins as 40 other gulls come in for a food fight of your scattered lunch.  By the way, seagulls know "chip bags" and if they see one sticking out of your unsupervised beach bag, they will think nothing of helping themselves and remove the chips from your bag as well as share your snacks with their gull friends while you're taking a walk or a dip (seen it happen many times).
~Playing ball, frisbee, corn hole, and kite-flying etc on the back side of the beach (dune side), not near beachgoers (the beach patrol will usually stop you anyway if you're in the wrong area.)
~shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~follow posted warnings (closed beaches, rip currents, surfboard/boogie board area etc) and always pay attention to lifeguards.
~Enjoy beaching!

Tonight...mostly clear, low 70s, breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.  Be aware of the surf again today...very intense Rip Currents thanks to Hurricane Gert way off the coast in the midst of the Atlantic and giving our shore a run for its money.  Check with guards before entering the drink!

Damp Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 75 balmy degrees in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling much like the tropics this early morn.  Dewpoint is 73° with humidity 97%.  It's thick and humid with lots of moisture in the briny air.  No breezes to note.  All my indoor tropical plants now outside for the season are deliriously happy.  My back porch has Key West written all over it!  It'll be a mostly gray, very moist, humid day with rain showers and/or thunderstorms likely (90% chance).  Some storms in the area could produce heavy rainfall.  Temps won't get much higher than they are now...76 or 77° with S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Due to Hurricane Gert out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, our coast is going to experience some intense rip currents and wave action for the next two days.  You've been warned...check with beach patrol/lifeguards before heading into the drink.  The Surfers are drooling but the average swimmer/bather should take this warning very seriously as the current will take you far from the safety of the shore. Tonight...mostly cloudy with rain producing clouds pretty much out of here. It'll still feel warm and humid with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the NE 3-6mph.  Tomorrow and Thursday...back to sunshine and warmer temps.

Monday Mix of Sun and Hazy Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood NJ.  It's hazy as the dark, morning sky begins to brighten.  It's still...no breezes to note.  It's aromatic...fragrance of the fishy, briny, marshland hits you the moment you go outside.  It'll be sunny this morning as clouds filter in and make it a hazy/cloudy day.  Temps will head up to almost 80° as breezes wift (waft) over the island from the East at 5-10mph.  No rain is in the forecast.  Tonight...more clouds with a 20% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm while temps drop back into the the low-70s with breezes out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.

Partly Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  We're soaked from yesterday's rains and the first thing you get when stepping outside (away from the air conditioned house) is tropics.  It's 97% humidity and 74° dewpoints.  No breezes to note. We're under hazy cloud cover as Ms Sun begins the trek over the ocean's horizon.  Once she's up though, she'll be competing with lots of cloud cover today as it'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy with humid conditions and temps tapping 80°. Breezes will eventually commence from the NW at 5-10mph.  No rain's in today's forecast by the way.  It'll be a perfect day for the North Wildwood Annual Flea Market all along Kennedy Boulevard.  Tonight...same...humid, hazy cloud cover, temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes out of the West at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...clouds staying checked in along with the sunshine and a 20-30% chance of showers.

Soggy Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly and has been since around midnight. There's a very light (barely there) breeze out of the SW at 3-5mph.  Ms Sun's not having her grand entrance any time soon. Temps will barely tap 80° as it'll be cloudy with rain showers in the forecast throughout the entire day (80% chance) into this evening (50% chance). There's even a chance of a passing thunderstorm included in those rain showers.  Also, be aware of the tides and street flooding.  Winds will be out of the South today at 6-15mph; tonight...SW at 7-9mph as temps drop back into the low 70s.  Tomorrow looks like Ms Sun will be back but with warmer temps and some of those leftover clouds.

FOOTNOTE: It's 2:15p.m. and it's been raining since this morning.  It's coming down at a good clip and creating flooding in my street.  Be aware if you're in a flood zone on the island as some neighborhoods get much more flooding than others.  You know the drill...move your vehicle to higher ground if necessary.

Friday Loveliness

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a bit hazy with dry, less humid conditions and no breezes to note.  Ms Sun's up and shining down on us.  It'll be sunny at least for the first half of the day.  Later this afternoon...clouds roll in as we're possibly in for some afternoon passing rain showers and/or thunderstorms (20% chance). Temps will be tapping 80° as breezes waft over the island from the S-SE at 6-11mph.  Tonight...more cloud cover and with an increasing chance (60%) of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm.  Temps will head back down where they are now...upper 60s / low 70s with breezes out of the S at 5-10mph.  The weekend...tomorrow looks like it'll be mostly cloudy with some rain showers in the forecast (60% chance).  And, Sunday looks mostly sunny with some clouds in the mix and another chance of a passing shower (20% chance).  Looks like the next few days could be "doppler" weather...keep your eye on it!

Very Nice Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a beauty as Ms Sun's up and at the moment trying to shine through the leftover horizon cloud cover.  It's still with no breezes to report.  There are seagulls having fun in the neighborhood as they're all loudly squawking and laughing loud enough to wake the neighborhood.  It's fragrant with the salty brine aroma of the sea and marsh in the air.  Looks like a hump day keeper today with temps tapping 80°, plentiful sunshine and breezes out of the N-NE at 5-10mph. Tonight...clear with breezes out of the S-SE at 8-10mph and temps in the upper 60s.  Tomorrow...a repeat of today.  So far...the weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday being the better of the two days.

Clouds in the forecast this afternoon. National Lighthouse Day

Hereford Lighthouse, North Wildwood

Cape May Lighthouse, Cape May
Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover and stillness (no breezes to note).  Thing's are-a-changin' though as we're under a Flash Flood Watch as we could receive up to 2" of rain (100% chance of rain today) and SSE Winds at 20-30mph before this day is over.  It'll become windy then the rain and/or thunderstorms will arrive sometime this afternoon.  A few storms may be severe.  Temps will be in the upper 70s. Tonight...windy with rain (80% chance), temps in the upper 60s and winds out of the W-SW at 20-30mph. It's a Full Moon...something you certainly don't need when the day's forecast is this much rain.  I'd be aware of my surroundings and play it safe (don't chance driving through the flood waters).  I'm moving my vehicle to higher ground and wearing flipflops to work today.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with no breezes to note.  It's quiet except for the seagulls.  There's no parking available anywhere as we're in the very thick of it now.  Two more weeks and we'll begin to get back to the somewhat "off-season" feel.  Last two weeks of July and first two weeks of August give this island an intensity of being inhabited that's hard to ignore or better yet...hard to describe.  Anyway...for this lovely Sunday ahead we'll have mostly sunny, less humid conditions with some clouds in the mix as temps tap 80° and breezes commence from the SW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy skies give way to mostly cloudy skies as there's a 20% chance of a stray shower/thunderstorm.  Temps will be in the upper 60s / low 70s with Southerly breezes at 13-17mph.  If the horizon's clearly visible tonight you'll see the Full Moon rise at 7:26p.m.

Summer Nor'easter

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some weather happening this early morn...lots of wind (NE 25-35mph) and heavy, steady rain.  We have flooding...not too bad on my street (some parked cars are in decent size puddles) but surrounding areas such as Rio Grande Ave., Park Ave., and other main streets prone to flooding are fairly deep (4-5") at the moment.  Thankfully it's low tide.  It'll be a wet Saturday with rain showers continuing into this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 70s with NE winds at 35-45mph.  Tonight...showers should be tapered off as this Nor'easter heads out to sea.  Tonight...low 60s with N-NE winds at 20-30mph and a 60% chance of showers.  Tomorrow...warm and sunny.  Temps will be in the mid-70s with those NE breezes still stiff at 15-25mph.

Storm's-A-Brewing

Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun just broke through all the morning cloud cover.  No breezes to note.  All quiet on the eastern front (until later).  Up next today is a mix of clouds and sun with temps tapping 80° and breezes out of the E-NE at 5-10mph.  We might see scattered rain showers and/or a thunderstorm later this afternoon.  Cloud cover will eventually take completely over by tonight as rain and/or thunderstorms (after 9pm) are forecasted.  Some storms coming through could be severe producing gusty winds and heavy rainfall and will inevitably create coastal flooding (2-3" rainfall possible).  One meteorologist called this weekend weather system heading our way a "Summer Nor'easter" which are very rare (last one...1994).  Be aware of tides and where you park your vehicle.  And, if it's your first coastal storm, take it very seriously as these bad boys can cause serious damage. Don't take any risks.  Temps tonight...low 70s with E-NE winds 15-25mph w/gusting.  The weekend...Saturday: rain (100% chance) and Sunday: less rain (30% chance) with both days loaded with major winds.

~(hubby suggested this one) If you must use your cell phone on the beach...courtesy would be not to hold a loud phone conversation for the ears of all around you. No one really wants to hear your phone conversation.
~Enjoy that beach!

A Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and still on the island with plenty of cloud cover as Ms Sun has some sunrise work ahead.  It's supposed to be pleasant today with a mix of sunshine and clouds, high near 80° and a Southerly breeze at 7-15mph. Tonight... mostly cloudy, low 70s, Southerly breezes 9-16mph, 50% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms (mainly after 9pm).  Tonight's rain system isn't checking out anytime soon.  Expect crapola weather for tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.  All forecasts are now reporting that Sunday will also not be exempt from all this rain and storming, except for one and that's the National Weather Service as their report is still sunny and pleasant for Sunday.  Remains to be seen as I continue to watch and report what's up ahead.  One thing's for certain...expect some rain, wind and even some flooding the next couple days beginning tonight.  I may have to pull out the Wellies.

Lots of Gray ahead

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with a light breeze out of the NE at 5-7mph.  The dew point is 64° and humidity is 84% as we're out of the grip of the steaming heat and humidity finally.  It'll be more comfortable and cloudy with peeks of sun today, temps in the mid 70s and breezes out of the NE 9-11mph.  Tonight...clearing somewhat but still mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the East becoming South at 5-10mph.  At this point...the weekend's 50-50 with rain for Saturday (and Friday too for that matter) with Sunday being the keeper as lovely weather is on tap for the latter part of the weekend.

Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  We've been watered again with lots of heavy rainfall and thunder-boomers and lightning on the overnight.  Love that I haven't been the one to keep my gardens watered, but these storms are intense and powerful.  It's back to being quiet now though.  Ms Sun's trying to peek out the thick cloud cover that's still hanging around. The air feels less humid though (humidity is 94% though) as the dew point is 69°.  No breezes to note.  It'll be unsettled today as we'll have a mix of clouds and sun with temps in the upper 70s and breezes out of the NW at 8-10mph.  There's a chance of a passing shower this afternoon (50%).  Tonight...mostly cloudy, low 70s, breezes out of the NE 11-13mph  with a 25% chance of a rain showers passing through.

More of the Same

Mornin'! It's 76° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast with no peeks of sun and no breezes to note.  We came out unscathed from last night's late storms.  We received light rain and some off-in-the-distance lightning but nothing like LBI or Strathmere or Surf City who received...a big storm with winds and flooding not to mention a tornado warning. That ugly storm stayed north of us thankfully. Whew...missed that one. We're still socked in the soup with that tropical dampness and humidity.  Currently the Dew point is 75° and Humidity is 91°.  It'll be another warm one today with mostly clouds and peeks of sun, breezes off the land W-SW at 13-15mph and temps in the mid-upper 80s.  There's a 20% chance of a scattered, passing storm (keep watch of those clouds in the sky and better yet...your smartphone doppler). Tonight...cloud cover and 40% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm with temps dropping back into the mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the W-NW at 5-10mph. Tomorrow...much like today. The green heads were biting on the beach yesterday due to those "westerly" breezes...pack the insect repellant!

Another Humid Mix of Weather

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  It's warm, muggy and humid with cloud cover and no breezes to note.  No sunshine yet but Ms Sun's determined to pierce through the clouds this early morn.  Humidity's 94° and dewpoint is 72%.  It's looking like another warm, humid day with loads of cloudy/overcast skies. We should see some peeks of Ms Sun and of course that continued possibility of scattered showers and/or thunderstorms (40% chance). In fact...with all the precautions of storms passing over in our forecast yesterday...unlike Friday night, they never arrived.  Today will be much like yesterday...very warm and humid with temps in the mid-upper 80s and breezes out of the W-NW at 6-8mph. Tonight...60-70% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms as temps drop down a bit to the upper 70s with breezes out of the East at 9-13mph.  Tomorrow looks like a repeat of today.  Another reminder... the New Moon is today and is the reason you'll see much higher than normal tides and maybe even coastal flooding if we do get any heavy downpours today or tonight. You know...remains to be seen!

Weekend Mix

Mornin'!  It's 78° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining...but not too brightly as she's competing with the cloud cover.  No breezes. We've got a bit of the tropics this morning as the overnight soaking rains created the warm, humid moisture out there.  Some big storm last night with thunder and lightning and semi-flooding rains. It's thick and heavy this morning.  I do like it though as it's that summer feeling to the max.  Even more so...very grateful for the air conditioner that's keeping my home and indoor home life comfortable.  So today's looking like a mix of forecasts as everyone's every where on the chart.  I've checked 4 sources and I'm going to do what I usually do...average it out.  Today will be humid, partly cloudy with peeks of sunshine, and a 20% chance of scattered showers and /or thunderstorms all day into this evening.  It's a weather mix "eye on your Doppler" day. https://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:08260.1.99999
Temps will be in the mid-upper 80s with breezes out of the S-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...even "iffier" with mostly clouds and peeks of stars and now with an 80% chance of rain as some of these evening passing storms could be severe.  I'd call last night's "severe" as it had me awake at 3a.m. walking the halls.  Tonight's temps...mid-upper 70s with winds out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...not sure if this is good or not but it could be a repeat of today.

More Heat Is On

Mornin'!  It's 78° in Wildwood. It's hazy, hot and humid with not a breeze to note. Heat index is 89° at 5:30 in the morning.  Humidity's 87% with 77° Dewpoint.  Wait until Ms Sun shows up and she's on her way in less than a half hour. She'll be cooking us today with temps tapping 90°.  Hot fun in the Summertime! Expect plenty of summer heat with hazy hot sunshine and hot land breezes out of the West at 5-10mph (pack the insect repellent). Tonight...upper 70s / low 80s with a 20% chance of a scattered shower and/or thunderstorm and breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.  Those scattered showers and thunderstorms will make the weekend weather unsettled as all forecasts are reporting storm clouds that seem to be checking in and staying for the weekend.  Keep your eye on that Doppler as any weekend outdoor plans could be impacted by showers and/or thunderstorms.  And, Merry Christmas in July as that'll be the main theme this weekend.

~follow posted warnings (closed beaches, rip currents, surfboard/boogie board area etc) and always pay attention to lifeguards.

Summer in the City

Mornin'!  It's 76° in Wildwood NJ.  It's hazy, warm, humid and still (no breezes to note).  The heat index is 84°, dew point is 76° and humidity is 90%.  We're talking summer baby!  It'll be hot one down the shore today with hazy sunshine, temps tapping 90° and breezes out of the SW at 10-20mph becoming South by the afternoon. Tonight...upper 70s, breezes out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Looks pretty much the same tomorrow.  The weekend...eh...it's looking like storm clouds will be all around as there's 30-50% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms hovering everywhere for both Saturday and Sunday.  Remains to be seen I guess. For today...pack the water, sunscreen, insect repellent (always be aware of any Westerly breezes for those biting greenhead flies) and footwear (don't even think about trekking
that beach sand in bare feet).

Mornin'!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  It's warm and humid (dew point is 73° with 97% humidity) with barely a breeze this early morn.  The sky is mostly clear with some cloud cover along the horizon.  Ms Sun's on her way and will rise above it!  It'll be a warm summer day down the shore with plenty of sunshine, temps in the mid 80s and breezes out of the South at 8-12mph.  Tonight...back down into the low-mid 70s with some cloudy skies in the mix as one forecast mentioned a 20% chance of an isolated shower with another forecast posting a 40% chance.  Oh...it shouldn't be happening until late night / overnight (if it happens at all).  Breezes will ramp up just a bit from the S-SW at 15-20mph. Tomorrow...same as today and even warmer!  At this time the weekend's also looking pretty much the same as today.

Hazy Monday

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and still (no breezes to report) with hazy cloud cover.  It's feeling a bit humid again with temps heading to the low 80s.  Expect a mostly overcast/cloudy/hazy day with a 20% chance of scattered thunderstorms and breezes out of the S-SE at 10-15mph. A couple forecasts did report peeks of Ms sun on today's forecast but I'd keep an eye on that Doppler.  Tonight...partly cloudy with a continued chance of those rain showers and/or thunderstorms with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the S-SW at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow appears more humid, warmer and sunnier.

Sunday Perfection

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  No cloud cover this morning; just blue skies everywhere you gaze.  Not much in breezes (N-NE 2-4mph). The humidity's checked out for a bit too. Not tropical and damp like yesterday.  It'll be a warm, sunny day with temp in the low-80s.  Breezes out of the S-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the mid-70s with breezes out of the South at 5-10mph.  Unfortunately, yesterday didn't quite turn out like the forecasters said (including myself) as we had a couple major heavy downpours hampering the Saturday outdoor plans. Well...actually that messy bedroom closet got a complete makeover and any Sunday chores and errands got addressed while it rained down watering the plants, cleaning the streets making way for a relaxing beach today!

Tropical Weekend Weather

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's currently cloudy and damp as the remnants of last night's storms have everything wet and dreary.  It's feeling a bit tropical outside as the humidity's 93% and dewpoint is 71.  No breezes to note.  All the outdoor plants and shrubs are smiling after that evening/overnight watering.  Ms Sun probably will miss her grand entrance this morning with all the leftover thick cloud cover, but she's checking back in later this morning. It'll eventually become a mostly sunny day with breezes out of the W-NW at 5-10mph and temps in the low-mid 80s.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps back in the low 70s and breezes out of the NW at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...just about the same with W-SW breezes.  No rain in sight for the weekend!

Stormy Friday

Mornin!  It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  We have the aftermath of some major thunder boomers last night. Lots of thunder and lightning with heavy rain showers took us to bed.  We never lost power thankfully.  I'm just happy everything's watered!  It's gray and humid and still (no breezes again this morning).  Plenty of cloud cover, scattered showers and thunderstorms (80% chance) are on the weather menu today. Some of these storms like last night could produce heavy rainfall. Temps will be in the low 80s with East winds becoming SE 5-10mph by this afternoon.  Not sure how much of Ms Sun we'll see but I'd have sunblock close at hand...never know.  Tonight...mostly cloudy, scattered showers and thunderstorms (60% chance) with temps in the low-mid 70s and SE breezes 5-10mph becoming Westerly after midnight.  The weekend's still remains near perfect with clear blue skies, 80° temps and light breezes.

Friday Beach Etiquette tips~
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any you see whether it's yours or not.     Note trash and recycle containers as The Wildwoods do recycle. (I'm happy to say that I recently saw a gentleman walk a fairly good distance from his beach camp site to a used site left with litter and pick up someone else's trash.  Very happy to witness that as that trash would have been taken out to the ocean by the breezes and high tides!)

The Heat is On

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and still (not much to report on breezes at the moment).  It's warm as the hazy moon is still shining through the clouds.  Ms Sun's due up any moment and she'll again have to compete with the morning clouds on her horizon.  She's going to help make it a scorcher today as temps  tap  90°.  There will be a mix of clouds and haze with breezes out of the SW at 10-12mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with a 60% chance of scattered showers and/or thunderstorms. Temps will be where they are now...mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the SW at 7-10mph. The weekend's still holding on as being splendid!  The weather may become unsettled later today so keep watch of the Doppler if the sky appears funky (you  know what I'm talking about).  Remember to wear footwear to the beach...the beach sand will be intensely hot. Pack plenty of water, sunblock and insect repellent (any kind of West winds could bring the greenhead biting flies).  Just saying.

Warm Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 77° in Wildwood NJ.  We currently have some cloud cover but Ms Sun's due up any moment and the horizon clouds are still deciding whether to make a clear path for her grand entrance.  It's still with no breezes to note.  It's fragrant when heading out to the back porch. The marsh grasses and the Jasmine plant aromas are blending for a lovely surprise when stepping outside.  It's humid (89% humidity / 74° dewpoint).  It'll be a hazy, hot, humid and a somewhat cloud covered day down the shore with temps in the mid-upper 80s and breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph.  There's always that chance (20%) of a stray shower and/or thunderstorm any time of the day but mostly in the afternoon and evening.  Keep your eye on that doppler.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the mid-70s and breezes out of the SW at 9-11mph. Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  No breezes to note but plenty of fog out there this morning.  We're in the soup at least until this afternoon.   Clouds seem to want to stay checked in as it'll be mostly cloudy all day with bits of scattered sunshine off and on (if we're lucky) as temps get into the low 80s.  Once this fog does roll out, there's a 30% chance of scattered showers right through into this evening.  Breezes will commence from the West at 6-10mph. Tonight...low 70s and breezes shifting from out of the South at 7-13mph.  The weekend's still looking pleasant with a Full Moon on Sunday.  Keep your eye on the doppler (for passing storms) and higher than normal tides.

~Remember to pack headphones (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music blaring from your boombox).  Big boomboxes are not welcomed on the beach.
~Kindly give your neighbors space when selecting your beach site. Careful not to plop down in others personal beach space.  Courtesy is key.
~Teach children beach etiquette. Running nearby others and kicking or throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it.
~Playing ball, frisbee, corn hole, and kite-flying etc on the back side of the beach (dune side), not near beachgoers (the beach patrol will usually stop you anyway if you're in the wrong area.)
~shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~follow posted warnings (closed beaches, rip currents, surfboard/boogie board area etc) and pay attention to lifeguards.
~(hubby suggested this one) If you must use your cell phone on the beach...courtesy would be taking the call away from all the surrounding beach goers and head to a quieter area (dune side of the beach) as again...believe it or not no one wants to hear your phone conversation on their quiet, relaxing beach day.  Happy Beaching!

Mostly Gray Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly gray skies with breezes out of the E-NE at 5-10mph.  Ms Sun's at the horizon and trying her best to break through all the cloud cover but I'm afraid she won't be the show stopper sunrise this morning.  We've got clouds prepping for an ugly system heading right our way from the Southwest.  Who knows...it could break up before entering our section of the coast but I'm thinking expect scattered showers (and possibly thunderstorms) sometime this morning...in fact, there's a 50% chance today and a 60% chance tonight that we'll see rain in some form.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the E-SE at 18-25mph. Tonight...mostly cloudy, low 70s with breezes out of the S-SE at 11-16mph.  We could possibly wake to rain tomorrow but the weekend's still looking A-OK!  Oh...keep in mind the Full Moon is this weekend and will no doubt cause higher tides than normal (don't forget...never drive through tide waters...corrosive, salt water harms vehicles).
