New Moon Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ. There are no breezes to note this morning.  There's a New Moon up there in the clear starlit skies.  As I was checking my weather resources, one reported that September 2017 was the Earth's 4th warmest September on record that is since record keeping began in 1880.  I guess it'll be somewhat close to warm today with plenty of vivid blue sky and sunshine in today's forecast along with temps just about tapping 70° and breezes out of the SW at 9-12mph.  Tonight...stars (no moon), temps in the upper 50s and breezes out of the SW at 12-16mph. The Tides will certainly be higher than normal...just be aware when driving or parking near tide waters...keep your distance.

Lots of Sunshine on Tap

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  That's not a's the first time since the middle of April that the ol' porch thermometer read that degree.  It's brisk, clear and starlit outside this early, dark morning.  In fact, that "winter" fragrance is mixed in with the briny sea air.  You's almost as though a fresh layer of snow is on the ground if you closed your eyes while taking a deep breath as you step outside.  Weird.  I guess it's just bit of a prep for what's to come.  I'm getting much too ahead of myself as there's still plenty of warmish Autumn left with some of those Indian summer days up ahead (including this coming weekend). Today will be cooler than we've been accustomed to with plenty of sunshine and temps barely tapping the low 60s with breezes out of the N-NW at 5-10mph. Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 40s / low 50s and breezes out of the W-NW at 3-6mph.  The rest of this week will be packed with plenty of sunshine as the temps rise a little each day right into the sunny, warm weekend!

Ms Sun Is Coming!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and overcast but dry and breezy (Westerly 15-20mph).  We could be in for some rain again today (50% chance) as showers are in the forecast up until early evening.  Temps are comfortable at the moment but will be dropping as the day goes on...upper 50s / low 60s.  Winds aren't going anywhere either...N-NW at 20-25mph.  By later this afternoon...we should begin to see peeks of sunshine as that Autumn feel encases the island.  Tonight...clear and chilly with temps in the low 50s (maybe even in the upper 40s as one forecast posted) with breezes out of the N-NW at 15-20mph.  The "new moon" is this Thursday as the high tides will begin to be a bit higher than normal.  And just an fyi... a nice stretch of sunny weather is on tap for this entire week (once we get passed this grayish, blustery Monday).

Sunny Sunday???

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's misty and fragrant.  Everything's moist and drippy outside (was raining a couple hours ago) with the aroma of the marsh and sea heavy in the island breeze.  There's actually no breezes to note.  It feels humid and muggy in the gray, morning stillness.  It'll be slightly warm and humid today with temps in the mid-upper 70s.  Ms Sun (remember her) will be shining her pretty, warm face around mid-day as temps rise.  Winds will commence out of the S-SW at 15-25mph.  Tonight...clear, temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes out of the SW at 21-33mph.  Tomorrow...back to the drearies with more gray skies and rain on tap.

Gray Start To The Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with breezes out of the N-NE at 12-13mph.  It'll be a cloudy, wet morning but the clouds will eventually give way to blue, sunny skies by mid-day as temps climb into the low 70s.  Breezes will remain out of the NE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...temps back into the mid-60s with partly cloudy skies and breezes out of the E-NE at 4-6mph.  Tomorrow looks sunnier, warmer and breezier.  Oh...we could see a spritz or two tomorrow morning.

Friday the 13th

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and breezy (E-NE 20-25mph).  It's dry (at the moment).  It looks like a pretty miserable day again.  Not much in the line of sunshine is in today's forecast as temps rise into the upper 60s.  It'll be cloudy with 30% chance of showers throughout the day as well as this evening and breezy with winds out of the East at 16-23mph.  Tonight...cloudy with a chance of patchy drizzles and breezes out of the East at 10-15mph.  Temps should be where they are now (low 60s) right into the overnight.  The weekend's still looking 50-50 with tomorrow pretty much a repeat of today (could see patchy fog and rain drizzles in the morning and peeks of sun later in the day) and Sunday looking sunny with warmer temps.

Wet Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 65° in windy Wildwood.  Welcome back!  Hubby and I made the 800-mile trek (each way) to Georgia and back for our mini vacation with not too much drama. The drive home over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge as well as cruising over the Delaware Bay on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry was one of the on-the-road-again highlights. Nothing better than hitting that "salty air".  It was a much better drive than that ol' trafficky beltway around Washington and through Virginia for the first leg of our trip. But the main highlight was spending relaxing, fun time with our daughter and new son-in-law.  Before you know it...we'll be meeting up with them again for our next vacation together (God-willing) in New Orleans for a Mardi Gras vacation in February!
Onto today's Wildwood's currently raining and very windy (E-NE) at 20-30mph w/gusting.  It'll be a nasty, mostly wet one today with a 60% chance of rain showers and winds coming off the ocean (E-NE) all day at 25-35mph w/gusting of up to 40+mph.  I don't have to tell you...a very bad hair day.  I doubt if we'll see any sunshine today.  Tonight...cloudy and breezy (E-NE) at 25-30mph w/gusting, 20-30% chance of rain showers and temps in the low 60s.   It's looking like scattered showers for tomorrow and maybe even into Saturday.  Sunday's looking A-OK at this time.

Full Moon Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, starlit and moonlit this early morn.  Breezes are out of the SW at 5-8mph.  It'll be yet another pleasant, lovely day down the Shore.  I've been really enjoying this warm, autumn weather we've been blessed with this week.  It's perfect weather and will continue to be for the next few days.  Today will have plenty of sunshine (with a pinch of clouds thrown in), breezes out of the SW at 12-16mph. Temps will be in the low-mid 70s.  Tonight...mostly clear with a Full Harvest "Hunter's" Moon.  Temps tonight will be back into the low-mid 60s with breezes out of the S-SW at 13-16mph.

Full Moon Rise:6:55p.m.
Tomorrow as well as Saturday (Wildwood's Seafood-Music Fest) look like a repeat of today.  Sunday...clouds roll in with a 30% chance of rain showers.  Monday...50% chance of rain.  The reason I'm giving you the next few days weather is another weather blog hiatus is about to happen.  Hubby and I are hitting the road and traveling South to visit our firstborn and our new son-in-law in Georgia.  Last time we paid them a visit was in the Spring for their marriage.  We drove then and we're driving again and that 12-hour road trip begins tonight (or I should say very, very early tomorrow morning).  It's exciting and fun to be road-tripping again.  I'm taking off from blogging again while away.  Wildwood weather will be an afterthought as Athens, Georgia's weather will be my focus of attention. I'll be back to blogging about Wildwood's weather Wednesday next week.  If you're curious about Wildwood NJs daily weather...just click on "Wunderground Weather" at the bottom right of my "Personal Favs" and type in "08260" for our zip code and you'll see amazingly accurate weather. See ya'll next week!

Good-looking Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear, starlit and calm with no breezes to note.  It's aromatic with that ol' marshy-briny fragrance hitting the senses the second you go outdoors.  It'll be another lovely day down the shore with plentiful sunshine and blue skies with Southerly breezes at 8-10mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the mid 60s and breezes out of the SW at 8-10mph.  At this point, the weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday being the keeper and Sunday being gray and wet.

Beautiful Start To The Work Week

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit with no breezes to note.  Without those winds or breezes, it feels really nice when you step outside.  It'll be lovely today with plenty of sunshine once Ms Sun rises in about an hour.  Temps may tap 70° with light breezes out of the N-NW at 6-8mph.  Tonight...clear with that big moon beginning to turn Full this week (Thursday) with temps in the upper 50s / low 60s and breezes out of the E-SE at 10-12mph. Indian Summer Season

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy October! The back porch thermometer hasn't seen that temperature since the end of April.  It's breezy N-NE at 17-20mph making it feel very chilly this morning.  Ms Sun's up and over the cloudy horizon.  She'll be shining today with cumulous clouds trying to block her rays much like yesterday.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the N-NE at 8-12mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps back down into the upper 50s / low 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 8-10mph.  Even though my favorite month is over, October and the season of Indian Summer is upon us!  Indian Summer is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that occurs in Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.  Research shows that the earliest known reference to Indian Summer occurs in an essay written by J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur in 1770.  Although the exact origin of the term is uncertain, it was perhaps first noted in regions inhabited by Native Americans and based on the warm and hazy conditions when Native Americans hunted.

sniff "See you September" sniff

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  Well, it's the hardest month for me to say good-bye.  I'm actually a bit verklempt about to write about "The Jewel" becoming a fleeting memory.  Once again, September (my favorite of all the months) is about to bid adieu.  For those of you that check my know that here at the Jersey Shore (aside from it being tropical storm or hurricane season) September has something that no other month has.  It has perfect summer weather, a warm ocean, empty beaches, empty boardwalk, empty bike paths, parking spots everywhere, no more traffic, fishing tournament season, solo visits to the sunrises and most spectacular sunsets (very spiritual), migrations of awesome birds, monarch butterflies everywhere, no lines anymore...restaurants, gas, ATMs, stores etc.  I could go on and on but the reasons are endless.  It's about as perfect as you can imagine.  It begins to get a little weird in October as things begin to really quiet down and literally shut down for the winter (at least a good 6+ months).  Our population is roughly 15,000 for the entire island. We're added to the 250,000 summer population making for that summer intensity.  Some who haven't lived here in the "off-season" are skeptical and actually a bit fearful of it ("it" is living in a very quiet, desolate Ghost Town most of the year).  You'd be surprised how many "shoobies" ask, "What's it like here in the winter?" all works out as I was immediately content and had no trouble adjusting to the other seasons when I moved here and enjoy it all.  Time flies as that seasonal intensity will be back in a blink of an eye. The "2018 Summer Season" will be upon us soon enough loring the flocks of seashore lovers back to these Wildwoods...our little slice of the Jersey shore.  Hey...the loveliness is not over yet as October's known for that beautiful "Indian summer" weather!  And on a "winter" note...I'll always remember one New Year's day that I walked a very empty boardwalk and it was 62°.  One never knows what the weather will be.  It's all good.  Life is good.
For today's weather...sunny with breezy conditions...winds out of the NW at 20-25mph, temps in the upper 60s (maybe tapping the 70s).  And tonight...low 60s with clear, starlit skies and breezes switching out of the N-NE at 20-25mph.  Tomorrow...sunny and much less breeze.

What a Difference a Day Makes

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 68% with a Dewpoint of 46°.  The sky is clear and starlit with a Northerly breeze at 10-15mph.  It's (I can't believe I'm typing this) chilly outside.  It's a "sweater-weather" type of morning.  It'll be a lovely autumn day down the Shore with plenty of sunshine and temps tapping 70° with breezes out of the N-NW at 6-10mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 50s / low 60s with breezes out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking mostly sunny and blustery with Autumn written all over it.  One forecast mentioned the possibility of afternoon showers for Saturday but no other report mentioned it.  By the's Mid-Atlantic Police & Fire Survivors, Monster Trucks on the Beach, Wild Thang (PT Cruisers) cars and The Italian Fest in Wildwood this weekend (yummo)!

Another Bad Hair Day

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 92% with a 72° Dewpoint.  It's clear, starlit and breezy...N-NW 15-20mph.  It continues to feel warm and humid outside and inside.  I've been ignoring the urge to put the AC back on.  We're  supposed to have a drop in temperatures by tonight and by the overnight...upper 50s / low 60s and by tomorrow it'll have that Autumn feel again.  Today will be another "bad-hair" day with clouds mostly staying checked out and plenty of sunshine along with winds out of the N-NW at 20-25mph w/gusting.  Maria's pulling away from the East coast but still providing outer bands of winds to our little island.  Tonight...still breezy (North 18-20mph) with temps in the upper 60s and starlit skies.

Windy Wednesday

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ. It's overcast with 94% humidity and 72° dewpoint.  Lots of drippy moisture out there this morning along with breezy conditions...NE 17-20mph.  Everything feels damp and that's inside the house!  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun (once some of these clouds check out by this afternoon) with temps barely tapping 80°.  It'll be a bad hair day with NE winds wifting (I mean "wafting") over the island at 20-30mph.  I've checked 4 different weather resources and all were slightly different...tough one today.  One did report a 20% chance of rain while all the others reported only clouds mixed with sunshine. We're feeling the very outer bands and effects of Hurricane Maria about 100 miles off the North Carolina coast today.  It's not just making some cloudy conditions, but it's also making for an extremely rough and dangerous ocean.  Tonight...partly cloudy, low 70s, winds out of the NE 18-20mph.

Last Sunday in September!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  Blog's a bit late...slept in this lovely morn.  The AC's still on though as it's a bit on the thickly inhabited side this weekend and it not only keeps down the humidity but keeps down the neighborhood revelers.  It'll be another gorgeous day down the Shore with plentiful sunshine, breezes light out of the N-NE at 5-8mph and temps barely tapping 80°. First Day of Fall!

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Autumn!  Happy Irish Fall Festival!  I'd say it's the biggest Festival of the year (although some may dispute that).  It's cloudy with a very light breeze (North 3-5mph) here at the moment.  Ms Sun's on the horizon and lighting up those deep, gray clouds but all forecasts are pointing to the Clouds winning out today.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with peeks of sun and temps just about tapping 80° and breezes out of the N-NW at 8-9mph.  Tonight...mostly cloudy, NW breezes at 7-10mph and temps in the upper 60s.  The weekend's looking great with Ms Sun shining down for the Fests...Irish, Classic Cars and Seafarers!  We're making it happen in the weather department as it'll feel like perfect summer weather this first weekend in Autumn!

Last Day of Summer

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's the last day of summer! Not sure what I was thinking yesterday morning (don't think the morning coffee kicked in) but I was calling yesterday the last day of summer. Wrong. Tomorrow is the Autumn Equinox and the first day of Fall.  4:00p.m. EDT to be precise. It'll still feel like Summer for at least the next 5 days though! (In fact, turned my AC back on!)
Today will be warm and humid as temps hit the low 80s with partly cloudy / partly sunny skies and breezes out of the N-NE at 8-10mph. Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the NW at 5-6mph.  The weekend's looking A-OK...plenty of sunshine and summery warmth.

Tropical Storm Watch

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloudy skies, very damp, humid conditions (almost feels like there's a misty rain going on) with breezes out of the NE 7-12mph.  Ms Sun's taking a short hiatus as we probably won't see her shining down until sometime Wednesday.  One forecast did say that she'll be peeking in throughout the day...doesn't appear so by the current look of things.  There's a "Tropical Storm Watch" posted until then.  Hurricane José is located out in the Atlantic ocean and its tropical storm force winds are expected to pass by the Delaware and southern New Jersey coast beginning sometime very early tomorrow morning.  The strongest winds and rains are expected Tuesday afternoon through evening and should fall below tropical storm force by Wednesday morning.  Coastal flooding not to mention very strong winds will pose a risk to property for the high tide cycles tomorrow into tomorrow night (the New Moon is Wednesday...higher than normal tides).  For today...mostly cloudy, misty/wet conditions with temps in the low-mid 70s with winds out of the E-NE at 15-20mph.  Tonight...cloudy with rains checking in on the overnight with winds out of the NE at 20-24mph and temps in the upper 60s - low 70s.  Sometime today or tonight would be a good idea to hunker down on the outside stuff and begin preparations for this upcoming storm.

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with light breezes (NE 9-12mph).  Dewpoint is 69° and Humidity is 92%.  It'll be another warm and sticky one with mostly sunny skies (some clouds in today's sky too), temps in the mid-70s and breezes out of the East at 9-12mph.  Tonight...mostly clear, temps in the upper 60s - low 70s and breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Hurricane José is way out in the Atlantic Ocean (few hundred miles off the coast of North Carolina) and will work its way North causing winds and rough surf and higher than usual tides along our coast this upcoming week. Our shores will have even more of that rough surf today with dangerous Rip Currents.  Play it
smart and be very cautious as there are no lifeguards posted on the beaches this time of year but there are beach patrols driving around.

Summer's Stopping By

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got dense fog this morning.  Humidity's 95% with a Dewpoint of 70° as it's feeling very damp out there at the moment.  No breezes to note.  We're going to have lots of sunshine (once she breaks through) with temps in the upper 70s (possibly tapping 80°) and breezes out of the East at 7-10mph.  It'll be hazy, warm and humid today. Tonight...mostly clear with some clouds in the mix with the Humidity still up there at 97%, breezes out of the E-SE at 5-10mph and temps in the low 70s. Just an fyi...Wildwood (proper) has no lifeguards on duty and suggests to call 911 if on the beach needing help.  North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest have Beach Patrols cruising the beaches but no lifeguards positioned like usual.  It's considered the "off-season".  Just know that you're pretty much on your own if entering the surf.  The wave action and currents will be rougher than normal and even more so this upcoming week as  I saw one report post we'll have tropical storm force winds and tides next week thanks to Hurricane José (it's now back to a hurricane). There's a "new moon" this mid-week and our tides will be higher than normal as well. Take heed, be smart and use caution.  Enjoy this weekend though as it'll certainly have that "Summer" feel!

The Start to a Nice Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with clouds at the horizon making Ms Sun's grand entrance in a few minutes a bit longer but just as beautiful as it can be.   No breezes to note.  It's humid...96% humidity as the dewpoint is 67%.  It'll be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies (few clouds in the mix) with temps in the upper 70s / low 80s and breezes out of the S at 6-9mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the SW at 7-8mph.  The weekend's looking A-OK so far although one forecast (NOAA) mentions a 20% chance of rain showers both Saturday and Sunday. If the sky begins to look "iffy"...check the doppler.  One thing's for sure at this time that now "Tropical Storm" José (could regain strength a turn back into a Hurricane)...will stay out in the Atlantic and do a drive-by giving the East coast some of its effects...with winds and most importantly...very rough surf.  Be aware and play it safe this weekend.  Oh...Welcome Firefighters as it's their Convention Weekend!

Party Gray Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partly clear/partly cloudy skies. Not much in the line of breezes...very light out of the Southwest at 4-8mph.  Humidity's 90% with a Dewpoint of 67°'s kind of warm and sticky out there.  Ms Sun's heading this way and these clouds will make for a gorgeous sunrise.  She doesn't have much of a chance to shine as it'll be a partly cloudy day becoming cloudy by this afternoon with a 30% chance of stray shower and/or thunderstorm.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 70s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight...pretty much the same with temps back down into the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes 9-11mph still out of the SW and a 50% chance of rain.  Looks like sunny, warm weather will be returning tomorrow and stick around for the Firefighter Convention this weekend.

The Jewel Couldn't Sparkle Any Brighter

Mornin'!  It's 56° (no typo) in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's way down as well as the dewpoint.  There's no summer feel at all in this morning's weather.  Ms Sun's up, the breezes are cool and light (North 7-10mph) and it's a beauty.  The Bikers are experiencing the Jewel of all our four seasons weather this weekend.  It'll be a repeat of yesterday with plentiful warm sunshine, temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the North 9-11mph.  Tonight...clear, temps in the upper 50s with Northerly breezes at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same.  Continued relentless thoughts and prayers for our Southern folk who opted to stay in the path of Irma. It's no secret that my husband and me love Key West and have been vacationing there for the last 7 years.  Our hearts are trying not to break knowing what's about to happen to the Keys.  I'm posting some of my favorite KW vacation shots for today's blog.
