Ciao February!

Mornin'!  It's 11° in Wildwood this last day in February.  Yep...11.  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 12-15mph creating a nice wintry chill factor...2°.   Here's one morning I could have pulled the comforter closer to my chin.  Been nice if this were Saturday and it would be even nicer if I were going with my oldest daughter Reg to New Orleans for a nice Mardi Gras vacation!

It'll be sunny and frigid down the shore today and tonight.  Today's sunrise is within minutes.  It'll be a high of 25° as breezes calm down from the N-NW and switch from the E-NE at 5-10mph later this afternoon.  Tonight...low 20s.  Tomorrow and Sunday temps will come back up into the 40s with mostly sun and clear skies.  Monday...it'll all change as a wintry mix including ice pellets from a big storm heading this way.  Oh...tomorrow's the New Moon...watch the tides as they'll be much higher than normal with some island flooding thrown in.  Ahhh...thank goodness it's arrivederci February...until next year!

Mornin'!  It's 20° in Wildwood.  The sky is dark, clear and starlit.  Ms. Sun's due up in less than an hour as we're almost guaranteed to see a beautiful sunrise this morning.  Breezes are light from the NE at 3-5mph.  It'll be a decent winter's day as temps climb into the 40s with the sun shining in between some cloud cover.  It's those sneak preview March Winds...ramping up later this morning 25-35mph +gusting out of the SW-W.  Tonight, winds will simmer down but so will the temps...down into the teens.  Had a major "Snow Squall" kind of day all day yesterday but thankfully none of the white stuff accumulated to anything and The Shore made it through yet another snowy day without leaving any tell tale signs.  Ahhh... Old Man Winter just loves clinging on this year.  Oh... March's Lion will be roaring in but not until Monday as there's another storm heading toward the Northeast and our Coast... just saying.

Another blast of Winter today!

Mornin'!  It's 28 balmy degrees in Wildwood.  It's overcast and still.  No breezes this morning. We got our dusting of snow yesterday some of which is still on occasional surfaces like my porch table and chairs, gardens and lawns...you know the drill.  Everything including streets and sidewalks are clear good to go and ready for today's dusting.  We're supposed to get more today....40% chance of a light dusting to a couple inches.  It'll be cloudy and cold with temps in the low 30s as breezes from the W-NW will wift (I mean waft) in at 15-25mph.  By later this afternoon...peeks of sun.  Tonight...clear and back into the 20s.  Jeez...it's still so wintry.  Com'on Spring...we're almost there...just a few more weeks.  Guess that means Australia's only got a few more weeks until Autumn can you imagine that???

Winter Forecast

Mornin'!  It's 31° under cloudy, overcast, dark, early morning skies.  Bets are down that we will not see Ms. Sun rising in an hour or so.  It's going to be a cloudy, blustery and cold wintry day.  All forecasts I've checked say there's a 50% chance of snow showers / snow flurries on the schedule.  The Local guy said a dusting to a ½ inch is possible.  Temps will stay in the low-mid 30s as clouds eventually thin out by tonight and temps drop into the 20s.  Winds are not out there at the moment but will storm in from the West at 17-25mph +gusting.  Layer up as there's no Spring in the air today.

Monday Mixed Bag

Mornin'!  It's 38°.  The sky is partly cloudy.  In the other partly section...the stars can be seen shining brightly.  Not sure about being able to see Ms. Sun rise in a little while.  The Wildwood's are dry at the moment as overnight precipitation was forecasted, but nothing in the line of moisture here so far.  It'll be mostly sunny today with clouds sticking around. Winds are light now but will ramp up out of the W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting (yet another bad hair day as a preview of March Winds is in store for today).  Temps will climb up just a tad to the mid-upper 40s.  Tonight...mostly clear and back in the 30s as breezes simmer down.  Keeping an eye on Wednesday...another storm's in the forecast with a possibility of the white stuff.

Pleasant Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in partly cloudy Wildwood.  The sun just rose as the clouds were creating a beautifully colored palette of pinks, corals, golds...you know the drill.  Lots of gray overhead at the moment as the horizon holds on to a nice clearing.  The winds are light out of the E-SE at around 5mph.  They'll shift later coming from the SW at 5-10mph.  Looks like it'll be a mostly cloudy day (w/peeks of sun) as they have no intention of checking out.  In fact, they'll eventually bring with them developing rain by late tonight.  Temps will stay mild at low-mid 50s.  Overall...another pleasant day down the Shore.

Leap Day

Mornin'!  It's 41° in sunny Wildwood.  It's a pleasant Saturday morning.  And, it's looking like a perfect day for the North Wildwood Leapers (those Crazies who are running into the 40° ocean at 11a.m. this morning).  Today's weather looks nice for a winters day.  It'll be mostly sunny with no precipitation on any radar.  Temps will hover around the mid-50's.  Winds will be light and variable from the S-SW at 10-15mph (although not sure how light they'll feel in a wet Speedo or better yet a wet, heavy, soggy costume.  Tonight...back into the 30s with partly cloudy skies.  Good luck you plungers!

Spring's in the air!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  We're currently in the soup as there's a fog advisory.  I can't see across the street.  It's not your typical quiet morning as the ocean's roar is loud and clear while the winds tunneling along the side of my house are creating a freight train sound.  It's not really raining but the fog's so intense that the heavy moisture and fog drips smack you upside the head the minute you walk off the porch. Today's forecast is rain... 70% chance as thunderstorms and heavy downpours are possible throughout the day.  Temps will be in the high 50s (possibly tapping 60°).  Winds are out of the S-SW and will shift from the NW later all at 25-30mph +gusting.  Tonight...rain should have checked out but it'll stay cloudy with temps heading back down into the mid-30s.  Tomorrow...still looking sunny and mild (temps in the 50s) and Sunday not too shabby either.  We've actually been feeling little tid-bits of Spring this week. 27 more days!

Another Mild One

Cocks Comb on a Wave
Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood.  The island's currently under clear skies with not much in the line of breezes... very still and quiet this morning.  Ms Sun's due up in less than an hour and we'll certainly see her grand entrance.  Clouds will filter in though and make it a partly sunny / partly cloudy day.  No rain in the forecast until tomorrow.  It'll be a decent day as temps rise and tap the 50s (that's no typo) with breezes out of the SE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...staying mild with fog thrown in the mix. Rain due in tomorrow and still looking good for Saturday's run into the ocean.

Damp Hump

Mornin'!  It's 37° under a clear, starlit Wildwood sky.  It'll be mild today with temps possibly tapping the 50° mark again (yesterday it hit 55° and was making everyone a bit on the crazy side with Spring fever down the Shore).  Today though...the sun (due up in about an hour) will begin to get obscured by clouds later this morning.  There's a 60% chance of late morning/early afternoon light rain showers today.  Winds may be bringing this system and my guess is providing yet another bad hair day...S-SW at 25-35mph.  Tonight it'll be cleared out of here making way for a mostly sunny today Thursday.  Since we're on the subject of upcoming weather...Saturday's weather's got your back Plungers (you know who you are) as it'll be sunny and high of 48° for the run into that very cold ocean...more craziness.

Rainy Clipper over Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 36° and raining in Wildwood.  Another "dodge" of the ol' snow bullet.  It's snowing everywhere West of us, but the island's having a rain event this morning.  It's cloudy (duh) with winds out of the S-SW at 17-25mph with a chance of rain today.  Well, at least up until later this morning when this fast moving Clipper heads up to New England blanketing them with snow and allowing Ms Sun to make her grand entrance here.  We should see sun most of the day before she checks out for the night.  By then, the winds will have settled down too as today will be a breezy one with winds coming from the S-SW initially, then shifting from the West at 23-31mph.  Looks like a chance of rain for tomorrow and Friday.  Thursday and Saturday seem to be sunny days.  Weird week with every other day looking sunny and bright.  I'm trying to stay focused on the glass half full.  Oh and btw, North Wildwood's plunge (Leprechaun Leap aka Fallen Hero Plunge) is Saturday.

Happy President's Day!

Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood.  The moon is still glowing in the starlit, cloudless sky.  There's a cold breeze out of the N-NW at 15-20mph wifting (I mean wafting) over the island as I type.  The winds will shift by later this afternoon from the N-NE at 5-10mph and then by mid-evening shift again from the E-SE at 15-20mph.  This is when the clouds will roll in (approximately after midnight) prepping the island for tomorrow's 100% chance of snow showers and/or rain which will make Tuesday a cold, wet and raw one.  I'm hearing no accumulation of the white stuff but no one's ruling out a dusting.  Today though... looks like a nice winter's day down the shore as Ms Sun and the vivid blue sky will be the stars of the show.  As Ms Sun pours down and provides her winter warmth, the temperatures tap the mid-30's.  We'll probably see peeks of her Wednesday but today... unobstructed sun.  Nice day for the Boards.  Enjoy!

Another one?

Mornin'!  It's 38° under cloudy skies.  Breezes are light out of the NE at 5-10mph.  There's a 70% chance of precipitation today as snow showers are due in but with the high 30s / possible tapping the 40s, it's sounding like yet another rain event; possibly a light dusting (less than an inch) at the tail end of this weather system later today. This Saturday storm will bring the winds (NW at 21-27mph) this morning that should be gone by this afternoon as this is a fast moving mini-Nor'easter checks out. I'd hunker down and do the soup thing but we're hitting the road and spending the day and overnight in snow packed Philadelphia area on babysitting duty.  I might as well say that tomorrow will have clear skies with sun returning along with colder temps (high of 32°).  I also have to mention that there was just a mini touch of Spring in the air last night as the full moon was off the chart spectacular with somewhat mild winter temps and no breezes to chill you. I think I'm beginning to smell Spring in that sea air! 33 more days.

Happy Valentine's Day! Sam's Pizza opens today ♥

Mornin'!  It's 32° this early morn!  The sky is clear, full of stars and moonlit.  There's a Full Moon (Full "Snow" Moon appropriately called) along with a multitude of Hearts ♥ today! It's icy out there as everything is coated and shimmering from overnight.  But, not to fear as my guess is, it'll probably turn into a fairly decent day today with Ms Sun checking in (rising in an hour) and temps rising into the low 40s melting us down.  Winds are rip roaring at the moment out of the West at 25-35mph w/gusting and will continue to do so until late afternoon (another bad hair day).  Clouds will roll in tonight around midnight as another weak Clipper system is heading our way for an overnight dusting and another inch or 2 tomorrow.  Remains to be seen as Wildwood's missed the bullet more times than I can count.  We had a major rain event yesterday from that Nor'easter Pax and even though there's currently a dusting of white on the grassy surfaces and vehicles, I'm sure within an hour or so of that glorious sun pouring down, the island will have lost it's white luster.  Thank God.

Rain Event at the Shore

Mornin'!  It's 38 balmy degrees in Wildwood.  It's raining heavily and extremely windy.  The streets are not flooded (just water at the curbs) but I just heard the flood sirens going off.  There's a Coastal Flood Advisory today until midnight.  We're going to have heavy rains all morning as it'll taper off a bit later this afternoon.  By this evening, temps will drop into the high 20s / low-30s as that precipitation will turn to snow showers and/or ice pellets.  Winds will be intense coming from the Northeast all day at 33-45mph +gusting...a classic bad hair day.  Another Nor'easter under our belt as we dodged yet another snow bullet.  Oh...how I long for a beach evening!

Winter Storm Watch tonight

Mornin'!  It's 14° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  Breezes are light out of the North at 3-5mph.  The sun's due up in about an hour.  It's the calm before the storm.  Cloud cover will gradually increase through the day, though we stay dry overall (10% chance of precipitation - probably rain later).  Highs in the low 30s throughout the region today and even higher temps overnight. Rain and/or snow showers may begin to spread into the region after midnight (100% chance of precipitation).  The thing is that this storm could begin with rain then snow showers, switch again to mostly rain, add to that some wintry mix (ice and snow) and then more snow while we sleep. East by Northeast winds at 5 to 15mph which will ramp up to 25-35mph +gusting. Also, a winter storm watch goes into effect at 7pm and expires at 1pm on Thursday.  I can't tell you how amazing it is to read various weather forecasts with all the different predictions with this one.  It seems like no one really know what it'll do.  Right now though...Georgia's getting pummeled with an amazing, horrific ice storm that's headed up the states right toward us.  It all remains to be seen.  But, keep in mind...Wildwood's not exempt from this coming winter storm and also the tidal flooding not just from this storm but from Friday's Full Moon.  36 days until Spring!

Day for making that grocery store list

Mornin'!  It's 19° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  The breezes have a bit of a snap to them from the N-NW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a repeat of yesterday with partly sunny conditions (not quite as cloudy as yesterday) with cold temps (may not get out of the 20s) and breezy (NW at 10-15mph).  Tonight...back into the 20's or high teens with clear, cold conditions.  That's all I got!  Nah...just kidding.  There's a Nor'easter coming.  You still have time to get your milk and bread but it's got the entire mid-Atlantic region directly in its site and running to the grocery store.  It's supposed to make its grand entrance tomorrow night after midnight and stick around Thursday.  I've check 4 weather sites and no one's on the same page with this one.  All say precipitation.  All say various descriptions such as wintry mix, snow, rain, flooding...
They all agree on 100% chance of precipitation and 2 of the weather models say 4-8" of snow for the Shore (not to mention major tidal flooding due to storm mixed with full moon).  Not so for the Philly area as alot more snow is predicted there.   I'll just keep a check on them all and see what the consensus is and report in.  One thing is for sure...I'm over it; so over it.  I'm jonesin' for a warm beach day or sunset boat cruise soooo bad.

Encrusted

Mornin'!  It's 26° under clear, starlit skies this early morn in Wildwood.  We're encased in a blanket of snowy, icy crunch.  I can't say that everything's a blanket of white.  Grass, shrubs, vehicles and the like are white but the street and sidewalks are a glistening crunch.  I'm going with "Be Very Careful" when stepping out.  There's a nice breeze from the NW at 22-27mph making it feel like 20° or like being in the winter tundra.  Winter's enjoying itself this year.  The breeze will remain out of the NW but simmer down by mid-day (15-20mph).  It'll be partly cloudy/partly sunny with temps staying right where they are now.  Few forecasts mentioned 30° temps today.  Winter's enjoying itself this year...oh did I already say that?  38 days until Spring.

Second Half of that Clipper System due today

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood.  Ms. Sun's doing everything in her power to shine through the thick cloud cover.  At the moment... she's actually making it through one of the breaks and it's looking much less dreary outside.  It'll be mostly cloudy today as the 2nd half of that ol' Clipper is heading our way for later.  All forecasts are saying peeks of sun and all forecasts are saying 60% chance of snow showers or a light dusting late in the day/early evening.  There are no breezes at the moment but will begin breezing by us around mid-day from the N-NW at 5-7mph and by early eveing shift from the E-NE at 15-20mph guiding that Clipper in.  Today's temps will stay in the mid-30s and drop down into the mid-20s tonight.  39 days until Spring!

Clipper Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 28° in overcast Wildwood as the morning unfolds. No sun and I doubt that we'll see Ms. Sun at all today.  It's quiet with no breezes.  It's cold with that chill going right through you.  Forecasts I've checked say that the temps aren't going anywhere like yesterday (we got up to the mid-40s with sunshine) as we'll hover around the low 30°s mark. It'll stay cloudy with N-NW light breezes wifting (I mean wafting) in later (4-6mph).  Tonight there's a 10% chance of snow showers.  We're in between back to back weak clipper systems and tomorrow looks like a repeat of today with the possibility of snow showers tomorrow night too.  No complaints here as we basically missed another bullet.  We're doing great so far this winter in my opinion.  There's no white stuff or ice out there and that's a very good thing.  Our little salty corner of the world is doing okay as of late as it continually addresses weather systems looming providing the meltdown needed to keep us in the clear albeit cold.  It's a homemade soup kind of weekend...as I got some escarole to boil up! Ahhh...a nice Italian Wedding soup!

Partly Sunny - Partly Cloudy Friday

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood.  The Winter Games should have been here.  It's crisp, cold, clear and quiet.  Stars are shining as the clouds have checked out but will check back in as it'll be a mostly cloudy Friday.  Cloudiness is on tap for the entire weekend beginning later today.  Ms. Sun is in the Friday mix and will kick off a decent winter's day but the clouds will eventually win this competition.  Temps will be in the mid 30s as winds hover around 10-12mph out of the W-NW.  The weekend has snow showers (light dusting to an inch) on tap as most forecast are saying we missed the snow bullet.  Two small weather systems could have collided over us this weekend bringing a hefty storm, but from what I've checked...it'll be two little winter storms over us Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  There's a lot of gray days up ahead so enjoy any sunshine Ms. Sun bestows upon us. 133 days until Summer!

Mostly Gray Again

Hereford Lighthouse
Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood.  It's quiet.  No winds; no precipitation; no ocean roaring in the background.  There's scattered clouds above with some clearing and stars twinkling.  For the most part the skies are mostly obscured with cloud cover.  And, it'll stay that way today as the forecasts I've checked all say the same...mostly cloudy with peeks of sun (if your lucky).  We won't see rain or snow or wintry mix today...just cold dry air.  Temps will just barely tap the 30° mark.  Winds will be wifting (I mean wafting) in from the N-NW at 16-21mph with a wind chill of 20°  Cloudy into the evening and overnight with temps dropping to 20°.  Next snow day...Saturday (snow showers only as this rumored storm isn't coming so they say).  I'm going with a nice hot mug of soup today!

Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood.  At the moment while still in the early morning darkness, it's quiet except for the roar of the ocean. It sounds like there's a highway with rush hour traffic just a block away but we know better as there's no one here in this sleepy town.  This morning, there are nothing but reports of the mess of snow and ice all around us.  But, we're ok here on island.  No slush.  No snow.  No ice. We were obviously on the outer edge of this nasty overnight storm and thankfully missed the bullet again.  It's not raining but there's a light mist with cloud cover and a breeze coming from the E-SE at 10-15mph.  Those breezes will shift today and turn completely around coming from the W-SW and by dinner time NW.  By then they will have ramped up to 20-30mph with gusts of 40+mph.  All forecasts are saying there's a 100% chance of precipitation with rain and a chance of a wintry mix all throughout the day.  Temperatures should be around the mid-40's holding the ice at bay.  By dinner time, it'll be just clouds and temps dropping into the mid-20s for the overnight.  Another day at the Shore to be grateful as it looks like we missed #2 winter storm this week.

Missed the Bullet

Mornin'!  It's 31° in cloudy, quiet Wildwood.  The only sound is the ocean crashing.  The thick clouds are insulating sounds as 6 blocks away is the pounding surf.  Barely a breeze out there this early morn...4mph from the E-NE.  Luckily the island received no snow from this last storm.  Not a flake.  We had a rain event as west of us received up to 10-12" of the heavy, slushy, white stuff.  My hubby and I kept repeating the same thing over and over, "Thank God we didn't get it."  I'm still saying it.  We are in the line of fire for 2 more storms directly in our path this week.  One will check in tonight into tomorrow (100% chance) and the other stopping by Sunday night into Monday (still checking the projection of that one).  The latter having a greater chance of being snow but tonight's storm looks like another rain event.  Yesterday's rain washed all the snow that was left so the island got a good cleaning. Today will be mostly cloudy with peeks of sun as breezes remain somewhat light (5-10mph) from the N-NE. Temps will only reach the upper 30's perhaps tapping the 40° mark.

Wildwood's looking down the barrel of Mr. Precipitation

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood this early morn.  It's dry, the sky is dark and thickly cloud covered.  The breezes are light from the NE at 6-8mph.  First let me say that this past weekend was incredibly mild and lovely with temps tapping the 50's as yesterday Wildwood saw 56° with sunshine and brilliant blue skies.  Winter's-a-knocking again and everything's about to change from the looks of every TV channel that's broadcasting a fairly big storm coming right over the tri-state area.  Reading, Doylestown and those western areas are getting hammered with snow as I type.  The Philadelphia region won't escape the wrath of yet another winter storm either but they're receiving rain right now.  As for Wildwood today...we're not going to dodge the precipitation...first rain; then a wintry mix and finally the dreaded ice pellets throughout the entire day.  We could even see a few inches of snow.  This badboy just hasn't hit the coast yet.  But, it's coming...100% chance.  I can almost feel its presence in the shadows.  Not to mention it'll stay checked in until tonight.  Temps are going to drop back into the low-mid 30s as winds ramp up a bit from the E-NE at 18-25mph.

Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday (oops...am I allowed to say that?)

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood.  It's somewhat mild with hardly a breeze as the sky is clear and the sun is rising as I type.  Not sure what happened to those overnight rain showers but they never got to us.  Not sure about the groundhog either as it's a tad too early for seeing his shadow or not.  I'm doing the weather with or without him at the moment.  It'll be mild today with partly cloudy/partly sunny conditions as temps rise into the mid-upper 40s again even possibly tapping 50°.  Winds will be out of the W-SW at 12-15mph.  Enjoy as tonight will have developing showers until they eventually turn to ice or snow.  Forecasts that I've checked are saying 2-4" of the white stuff tomorrow.  Why not?  It's once again all melted out there. Wait for it; wait for it...Punxsutawney Phil just saw his shadow!!!  Drum roll please...6 more weeks of Winter. 11 more weeks until Key West.

Welcome February and Happy Birthday Mrs. Deb!!!

Mornin!  It's 29° in sunny Wildwood.  It's bright, calm, quiet and fragrant with the sound of the ocean roaring loud and clear for some reason.  It looks like cloud cover over the water but directly above...blue sky.  It's actually a beautiful morning as it touches all your senses.  Love that.  It'll be a nice one today as temps rise into the mid-40s.  Breezes will light from the E-SE at 5-7mph.  The clouds will roll in and it will become partly sunny/partly cloudy as the clouds prepare us for tonight and tomorrow's rain.  Rain showers are supposed to develop after midnight and give us rain for the remainder of the weekend.  North of us (East Rutherford) is expected to get only clouds tomorrow...no rain in their forecast.  So, here it is...February...only 28 days and a tad closer to Spring and Summer not to mention my girlfriend's birthday!  Happy Birthday Deb!
