Last Day Of Autumn

Holly Beach Park - Andrews Avenue - Wildwood 

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with winds out of the NE at 10-15mph this last day of Fall.  It actually felt mild when I stepped outside first thing this morning.  The clouds are thick and insulating all the island sounds.  Living 6+ blocks from the ocean, my ears immediately perk up when I can hear the ocean's waves crashing loudly.  The clouds and wind direction do that.  The roar is very loud and clear today.  I'll never forget the first time that happened to me and I actually thought it was roaring traffic that I was hearing.  There's no roaring traffic here (the speed limit is 25mph).  I knew immediately that would be impossible and just as quickly knew it was the ocean's roar.  The salty briny is strong this morning as well.  And, everything about those things is why I love living here.  I'll never take it for granted.  It's looking like a raw, windy, and possibly wet day here on the island.  A "soup making" day no doubt.  Today's soup is Italian Wedding soup.  And, perhaps baking a batch or two of Christmas cookies.  I made some cookie dough yesterday which includes Chocolate Chip, Coconut Macaroons, Almond Crescents and Gingerbread.
Expect clouds with showers at times today, temps in the mid-upper 40s with N-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 60%.  Tonight... 40% chance of rain, temps in the low-30s with N-NW at 10-20mph.  It's going to be a very cold weekend.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy and windy, temps in the upper 30s with the NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting making it feel like the mid-upper 20s  Tomorrow night... clear, upper 20s and N-NW winds at 10-20mph making it feel like the teens.  Sunday... sunny, high of 29° feeling like 18° with N-NW winds at 10-20mph +gusting.  Sunday night... clear, temps in the low-20s and not quite as windy but still very cold.  So long Autumn!  You've been extremely good to Wildwood this year.  Much appreciated.  Until September 22, 2025... see ya on the other side!
