Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 29°.  Ms Sun's up and working her way through some wispy cloud cover.  Winds are very light out of the N-NW at 3-5mph. There's a layer of sparkling frost on all the surfaces outside and almost looks like snow.  It's going to be one of those partly clear / partly cloudy kind of days with temps in the mid-40s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps in the low-30s and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... gusty with mostly gray with overcast skies, temps in the mid-30s and N-NE winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... cloudy start to the evening, followed by clear skies, temps in the low-20s and N-NE winds at 10-20mph making it feel like 15°.  That's no typo.  It's December 7th today... a "Day that will live in infamy" and its done just that.  For those of you who don't know this infamous day... it's the day the United States had a surprise aerial attack by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. 2,403 servicemen were killed. The day after the attack, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered a speech urging Congress for a formal declaration of war against Japan.  War was then declared an hour later bringing the US into the Second World War unifying the country behind the war effort.

It's the Weekend

Cape May - Rotary Park on Lafayette Street

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still dark and cloudy.  There's a light breeze out of the N-NW at 5-7mph and it's making it feel cooler at 33°.  The cloud cover is insulating the island and making the outside sounds more prevalent.  For a second, I thought there was a big pickup truck idling in front of my house and when I opened the door, there's not one vehicle on my street.  What I was hearing was the ocean's roar.  And, I live 6+ blocks away from the beach.  Add to that, the famously wide beach here.  Believe it or not, some parts of the beach near me are 500 yards wide.  Anyway, waking to the roar of the ocean never gets old although it caught me off-guard.  As for weather, we had our first snowfall of the season yesterday.  A heavy, thick, wet snow blanketed the island in the morning and gave us around an inch of a coating of the white stuff (mostly on lawns, trees, vehicles but none on road/street surfaces).  It disappeared quickly as a light rain followed along with not-so-freezing temps which cleaned things up.  Oh... the creamy Potato-Leek soup was a perfect accompaniment to the weather and was delicious! 
So, for today...it'll be cloudy, with temps in the low-40s and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the low-30s and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... overcast with temps in the low-40s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... mostly clear, with some clouds from time to time, temps in the low-30s and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.

For all you December babies... this is your month - Happy Birthday!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling like 30° with those N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Ms Sun's up and shining her bright yellow light over the island. It'll be a sunny first day of December.  Temps will rise into the mid-40s with North winds ramping up even more.  Tonight... partly clear giving way to cloudy skies late into the evening as temps drop back to the mid-upper 30s.  Winds will be much calmer out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.  There's a 25% chance of rain showers overnight.  Tomorrow... temps in the low-50s and East winds shifting from the N-NW at 10-20mph and periods of rain (100% chance). Local heavy rainfall possible with 1-2" of rain.  We might even see tidal flooding due to this week's upcoming Full Moon on Thursday.  The moon is already making our tides look a bit more swollen than normal. Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely morning down the Shore.  We've got a beautifully painted sky with Ms Sun breaking through the cloud cover and light breezes out of the South at 4-7mph.  Those wafts of sea air are filled with salty brine which tap that ol' olfactory sense the minute I opened the back porch door and breath in. Sometimes that's what its all about living here on the coast.  But, keep in mind, it's the calm before the storm so they're saying. It'll be a mostly cloudy (some peeks of sunshine) start to the day as dampness begins to fill the air. Rain showers are due in this afternoon (50% chance).  Temps will be in the upper 50s with South winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... things really begin to ramp up with rain becoming steady overnight (80% chance), temps in the mid-50s and S-SW winds at 15-25mph +gusting. Mornin'! It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's up there at 97% but no rain coming down. Everything's wet and  drippy though from that sea air and moisture. It's supposed to be raining right now but that Cape May "Bubble" seems to be doing its thing.  It's all around us but nothing coming down in Wildwood.  We've got gray sky with winds light out of the S-SW at 5-8mph.  There's still a 40% chance of rain showers this morning along with just cloud cover later this morning.  By the afternoon... Ms Sun will be out.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly clear, temps around 40° with N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the low-mid 50s and West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps in the low-40s with NW winds at 10-20mph.  I'd say this weekend is looking A-OK (once this forecast of morning rain today has passed).  In fact, it'll be much nicer this weekend for putting up those outdoor decs as next weekend's looking at least 10° colder maybe even more if that ol' windchill kicks in.  Just saying.  As for Thursday... it's a little far out (I'm not a fan of weather predictions too far in advance), but it's looking good here in Wildwood for turkey day.  For now, the forecast for Thanksgiving is that we'll have a sunny day, temps in the upper 40s and blustery W-NW winds at 15-25mph. Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feels more like 33° with the windchill.  The winds are currently out of the NW at 10-12mph.  It's clear and starlit with a smattering of clouds here and there.  It's still dark but in the black sky, puffs of white are visible.  We're going to have a mix of sun and clouds today but the sunshine will give way to a mostly cloudy day with a 20% chance of a rain shower.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Today just might be the last day this week that we'll see any sunshine; at least until Sunday.  Tonight... rain likely (95% chance), temps in the low-40s and South winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... most likely waking to rain (85% chance) with rain ending in the afternoon and remaining cloudy, temps in the low-50s and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... overcast, temps in the mid-40s with N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Thursday... another gray day, temps around 50° with N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Thursday night... cloudy, temps in the upper 40s and very light breezes. Friday and Saturday look like washouts as rain is in their forecasts. The "New Moon" is Thursday.  Remember what the Full and New Moons do... bring on the higher than normal tides so we will no doubt begin to see more higher than normal water rising along the beaches and marshes.  Perhaps even in the low-lying areas throughout the streets of Wildwood.  Those waters know just how to seep onto the streets and create havoc.  Just an fyi.

Veterans Day

Mornin'!  Happy Veterans Day.  Today is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, in times of war or peace.  It is a day to show appreciation for their patriotism, courage, and sacrifice with a particular focus on thanking living veterans.  Thank You for your service to my dear husband and to all of the Vets out there reading this.

Winter's-A-Knocking

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 49° with the NW winds at 10-15mph.  Humidity's 83% due to the overnight rains as well as the light shower we're having at the moment.  It's one of those typical dreary Mondays.  We're kicking off the day and week with clouds and light rains as it becomes very windy (W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting).  By midday we should see peeks of sun as the temperature drops into the upper 40s.  By evening, partly clear, with temps dropping into the upper-30s feeling like mid-20s due to the W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Winter will be knocking on the front door tonight!  Nothing like the midwest and upper-midwest which is truly getting Winter temps and weather especially with that lake-effect snow.  We're not quite there yet.

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly cloudy with Ms Sun up and trying her best to shine through it all.  Humidity's 88% with winds out of the SE at 10-13mph.  It's a lovely, calm, somewhat sunny Sunday morning.  The gulls and birds are making their presence known.  The winds are light as it feels on the warm side.  I guess it's the calm before the storm as rain is supposed to be coming.  In fact, it's all around us on the radar but that Cape May Bubble is keeping it there... all around us.  There is a chance of rain this morning (80% chance) then, it'll become partly cloudy, with more peeks of sunshine this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 60s with S-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... 60% chance of rain with rain overnight (could be steady), temps in the low-50s and S-SW winds shifting to the NW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy start, becoming partly cloudy with temps in the low-50s and W-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy with gusty winds checking in after midnight along with much colder temps... 34°.  This expected temperature from those W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting will be creating an eye-opening wind-chill in the 20's.  That's what we'll be waking to on Tuesday... 20°s windchill!  For now... Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  The last day that I've recorded with a "30°" temp in the morning was 7 months ago on April 9th (36°).  There's frost on the pumpkin (as well as all the outdoor surfaces) this morning!  It's clear as Ms Sun is rising this very moment.  Winds are light out of the S-SW at 4-6mph.  It'll be a sunny start then partly cloudy this afternoon as the winds check back in out of the S-SW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Temps will be in the low-60s and I'm sure feeling much chillier.
