A March To Remember... Until We Meet Next Year (God willing)

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's misty and raining lightly with breezes out of the East at 5-10mph.  It'll be foggy and misty this morning with showers the first part of the day as we have a cloudy afternoon and evening on the forecast.  By the way... the sun never peeked out yesterday as we had one of those raw, damp days.  It'll be the same today but with windier conditions.  Temps will stay around where they are now... mid-40s but the East winds will turn to E-NE and ramp up at 10-20mph making it feel colder than it is.  Chance of rain is 50% today.  Tonight... March heads out of here as it roars with gusting winds developing... E-NE at 20-30mph +gusting.  Temps will drop to the low-40s feeling like the mid-30s.  Tomorrow... cloudy and blustery with the possibility of sun peeking in by dinner time.  I always have said that March is my least favorite month due to it's very blustery, raw conditions.  But, this year it's been pretty decent.  The Corona virus overshadowed this month's weather anyway.

By the way... reflecting on yesterday's blog about the very increased weekend population this was posted by the Cape May County government website yesterday:

The unanimous position from the 16 County municipalities that includes the two specific requests reads as follows:
The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the safety and welfare of citizens of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, and Connecticut.  As an effort to protect our citizens, first responders, and others who are working collectively to provide essential services to us, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has issued a series of executive orders that have the force and effect of law.  These orders, in part, identify essential service and place travel restrictions in New Jersey. As a result of this pandemic and in an abundance of caution and concern for everyone’s safety and well-being, the mayors of the 16 municipalities in Cape May County…from Ocean City to Cape May Point…are unified with two specific requests.  First, we are strongly urging the elimination of all short-term rentals for the duration of the Governor’s executive orders, which continue indefinitely until rescinded.  This appeal is made to all realtors, online rental platforms, and individuals.  Hotels and motels are considered to be essential services and we ask that they rent only to individuals who are performing essential functions per the Governor’s executive orders, not to traditional tourists. Our second ask is for you to remain at your primary residence and adhere to social distancing practices.  Coastal mayors have been forced to make difficult and unpopular decisions including closing playgrounds and outdoor recreational facilities; some towns have been forced to close beaches and boardwalks, and others may follow suit, simply because social distancing guidance has been ignored.  We recognize that individuals love to visit the coastal region, and want to visit their second homes for a change of scenery.  That travel is contrary to the executive orders enacted by the Governor, and contrary to the guidance from health officials to stay at home as much as possible.  Elected officials from every community may be forced to enact further restrictions if this appeal is not followed. We understand these are unconventional requests by elected officials who every day appreciate the visitation and investment in our communities.  However, we stand together in support of this position to protect you and your families so we can all enjoy good health when this crisis has passed.Thank you from the mayors and elected officials from Cape May, Cape May Point, West Cape May, Lower Township, Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, North Wildwood, West Wildwood, Middle Township, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle City, Dennis Township, Woodbine, Upper Township, and Ocean City.

Gray Start - Peeks of Sunshine Today

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  We're still in the soup with light fog surrounding the island.  Breezes are light out of the E-NE at 2-5mph.  The fog will stick around throughout the morning as Ms Sun will begin shining off and on later this morning / early afternoon. Expect a mix of clouds and sun.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 50s with Southerly winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... a few passing clouds. Temps will drop to where they are now... upper 40s with winds out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy (peeks of sun possible) with temps in the mid-upper 40s and breezy.  Hubby and I saw lots more people here this past weekend... loads of out-of-towners.  I get it.  My hubby does not.  My take is why not get away if you're able to your second home down the shore and soak up the salt air trying to cope and regroup during this scary pandemic.  His take is just stay home and do whatever it takes not to mingle and chance spreading this killer virus somewhere else (namely our home town).  He looks at it this way... if Wildwood (it has 1 case reported in North Wildwood) had an extraordinary amount of cases of the virus, why would we leave here and go to Delaware County (232 cases) or Bucks County (3,394 cases) to get away from "it" for the weekend and risk bringing it there?

Foggy Start - Gray Day

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got foggy conditions this morning.  We're dripping wet outside.  Breezes are barely there out of the E-NE at 4-6mph.  It's looking like another gray one which is a blessing. I keep thinking how hard  it would be to quarantine with gorgeous weather outside?  As we get deeper into Spring, it surely won't get any easier.   It'll be a foggy morning leading to developing rain and possible thunderstorms this afternoon (50% chance). Gusty winds and hair are a possibility.  Temps should reach the mid-upper 50s with E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms early (40% chance), then becoming cloudy after midnight.  Temps will be where they are now... around 49° with winds light and variable. Tomorrow... a beauty as Ms Sun will break on through and begin a sunny day by late morning.  Temps will be in the low-60s.  Tuesday... mostly cloudy with temps no higher than where they are now.

Gray Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the E-SE at 8-10mph.  No sunrise today as we're under rain clouds as it's gray and a little breezy.  It was just raining lightly but we're in a lull as it's stopped.  It won't last though.  It'll be a washout today with a ½ inch rainfall possible as periods of rain today (90-100% chance) are in the forecast with temps in the low-50s and E-SE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... cloudy with temps dropping into the upper 40s and NE winds at 10-20mph decreasing to 5mph late.  Tomorrow... cloudy early with the possibility of scattered thunderstorms developing late in the day.  Temps will get up into the mid-upper 50s with E-SE winds at 5-10mph.

Gray Friday

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with light breezes out of the W-SW at 5-7mph.  Those island birds are chirping loudly again this morning.  It feels and sounds so lovely outside as Ms Sun's doing her best to break through the morning cloud cover and shine her soothing rays down on the island.  Those ominous thoughts of corona virus still weigh very heavy though.  The virus numbers continue to rise. As for the weather, we're looking at a mild Spring day ahead with mostly cloudy conditions and a 20% chance of rain and temps in the low-60s.  W-NW breezes are in today's forecast at 5-10mph.  Tonight... 40% chance of occasional rain showers, temps in the upper 40s and E-SE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... rain (90% chance) with mild temps (low 50s) and stiffer breezes out of the East at 15-25mph.  Sunday... cloudy with peeks of sun (if we're lucky).

Spring Seems Happy and Carefree

North Wildwood Beach - Summertime - Less Worrisome Times
Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  The blog's on the late side due to senior citizen 7am shopping at the grocery store.  The seniors have the opening hour as per the State mandate set in motion due to the Corona virus.  It was actually okay as it was relatively quiet as everyone was courteous and kept that ol' distance.  Lots had gloves and maskes on.  I wore hospital gloves as well.  I'm now back to total isolation after unpacking and wiping and washing all the groceries.  Sitting inside may not last that long though... it's a stunner outside.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly and warming this enclosed front porch of mine and it feels warm and soothing.  The birds are everywhere and loudly displaying their Spring pleasure.  There's hardly a breeze.   I can smell daffodils and hyacinths in the sea air today!  I'm thinking a nice walk today before all this loveliness checks out. Wildwood's beach and boardwalk are still open and on days like today virus or not, my bets are on folks like me who are here down the shore taking full advantage with walking and biking and keeping the spirit alive. Why wouldn't you?  Some of the boardwalks and beaches are closed in North Jersey. We're still good to go here.  New Jersey now has over 4400 cases of the virus with 62 deaths.  There are currently 9 cases in Cape May County (my neck of the woods).
In regard to the weather... a beauty with plentiful sunshine, temps in the low-mid 50s with 5-10mph N-NW breezes shifting from the South after lunchtime.  Tonight... clouds begin to roll in about 8-9 o'clock with showers late (50% chance).  Temps will drop to where they are now... mid 40s with winds ramping up a bit out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... waking to rain showers but we'll definitely seek peeks of sunshine by the afternoon through those wispy clouds.  The weekend's still looking crapola with rain forecasted for both days.

Unpleasant Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  The rains are back.  It's raining lightly at the moment and the breezes have begun to kick up out of the E-NE at 18-22mph.  Expect a windy, rainy, raw day with temps in the upper 40s and winds out of the E-NE at 25-35mph +gusting.  Chance of rain... 100%.  Tonight... 20% chance of showers with cloudy, windy conditions... N-NE at 20-30mph +gusting (could occasionally gusts to 40mph) and temps will be dropping into the upper 30s.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun's back with temps in the mid-50s and S-SW breezes much lighter at 10-15mph.   At this time, the weekend's looking like rain (beginning on and off on Friday) but without all these winds we're about to experience today and tonight.   I'll be enjoying my homemade "root" soup today hopefully taking that unpleasant feel to this wet/windy day away.

New Moon Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover as Ms Sun's peeking through just at the horizon line.  The dark cloud just above her rays are beginning to turn shades of purple and pink as this morning's sunrise colorful show begins.  Breezes are light out of the NW at 8-10mph.  We're going to have a mix of sun and clouds today as temps get into the low-50s.  N-NW winds are on tap shifting to the S-SW then to the SE all at 5-10mph.  Tonight... overcast, temps down into the low-mid 40s with E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... a repeat of miserable yesterday with rain and wind as temps barely tap 50°.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 25-35mph+gusting as the rains fall sideways.  Grateful for that homemade soup I whipped up yesterday... "root" soup as I used up what I had in my crisper (turnip, sweet potato, white potato, carrot and parsnip), and herbs along with chicken and of course a couple spoonfuls of orzo.  It'll taste just as good tomorrow for that wicked weather on its way.

Miserable Monday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining at a good clip with the winds currently at 20-25mph out of the East, it's feeling like a very raw, wet 37°.  Expect a windy day with periods of rain with an inch of rainfall possible.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 20-30mph +gusting.  Temps could tap 50° but it'll still be a perfectly miserable day in the weather department.  You couldn't have a more perfect reason to stay in (or maybe you could). Tonight... cloudy as this rain system blows on out of here as temps drop back into the low-mid 40s.  Winds will simmer down out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  The "new" moon is tomorrow... remember with  "new" and "full" moons, the tides are much higher than normal so heed those flood sirens if you're in a flood prone area.  Driving through flood waters isn't the thing to do if you need a reminder.  You're basically driving through the ocean waters.  Tomorrow... partly sunny / partly cloudy with temps in the mid-50s and NW breezes at 5-10mph.

Partly Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 41° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  She rose about an hour ago (right before 7 o'clock) and we're now glowing with sunshine.  Breezes are out of the NE at 7-9.  It's crisp but lovely out there.  Very quiet.  We have plenty of visitors this weekend but it seems that everyone is isolating.  It was incredibly eerie late last night when stepping onto the back porch.  Everyone's house was lit up (not usual this time of year) but when you stood quietly and listened waiting for any sort of island sound... nothing; no vehicle noise, no distant talking, no sounds of the surf, no breeze... just total silence.  Also, as of late last night... over 1300 cases of the virus in New Jersey with 16 deaths.  God knows what the statistics are this morning.
For today's weather... we'll probably see more clouds than sunshine once those clouds check in probably early this afternoon.  Temps won't even tap 50° as the E-NE winds begin to ramp up and become blustery... 15-25mph added to that cloud cover... making it feel even chillier.  Tonight... rain's heading our way as there's an 90% chance of rain beginning after midnight.  Temps will drop into the low-40s with that East winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... more rain with temps tapping 50° and even gustier winds.  March has begun to ramp up again so forget the hairspray.

It's Another Weekend (Of Isolation)

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with breezes out of the North at 8-11mph.  Even with the dampness and light rainfall, it's lovely outside.  The aroma of the sea and marshland surrounding us in heavy in the moist air.  It's supposed to rain (60% chance) this morning as Ms Sun's intention is to begin shining through by this afternoon.  Temps are going to drop a bit (upper 40s / low 50s) with breezes ramping up out of the N-NE at 10-20mph.  Tonight... the heater goes back on as temps drop into the upper 30s with NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly clear in the morning giving way to cloudy skies in the afternoon, blustery winds and a high of 45°.   Hubby and I are doing fine so far.  We're keeping the social isolation thing going although walking and bike riding almost every day.  We do see the weekend crowds picking up significantly as visitors and 2nd home owners are here and at times freaks me out to see so many cars from Pennsylvania and New York. New York is the leader in having this killer virus... over 7,000 cases with 34 deaths.  But, I do get it.  If I had a second home to escape down the shore, I know I'd be doing the same thing... isolating near the ocean. Walking to the beach regularly for an emotional fix is what's seeing me through.  I'm so grateful for that blessing. What bothers me however, is that "isolation" factor.  Up until yesterday all the playgrounds, basketball courts, skateboard parks etc were not only opened but full of children who are not in school.  Up until yesterday, everyone was helping themselves to pouring their own coffee in our WaWas.  The island has now issued a lock-down on these places including helping yourself to coffee.  At this time, New Jersey has 894 cases of the virus with 9 deaths so far.  Washington State (where my sister lives) has 1402 with 85 deaths but New York is the leader on this ominous tally sheet.  Very scary times.  Be smart people and stay safe.

Spring-like Friday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  The overnight/morning fog has lifted and left all its dew on everything.  The little buds on the tree branches  and spring flowers are dripping wet. It's still a bit hazy but mostly clear as Ms Sun's up.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 9-11mph.   We'll have a mix of clouds and sun this morning.  The sky will eventually give way to cloudy skies this afternoon as temps climb up to the upper 60s (may tap
70°) with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 40% chance of showers as temps drop into the upper 40s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... possibility of showers in the morning as skies gradually become sunny with temps in the low-50s.  Tomorrow night... mid-upper 30s!  Sunday... sunny and a bit colder... mid-40s.

Spring Has Sprung

Mornin'!  Happy Spring!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining.  Those overnight gusty winds have died down and are now light and currently out of the SW at 4-7mph.  Expect a mostly cloudy first day of Spring with a possibility of occasional rain showers... mainly this morning (40% chance).  Temps will get up into the low-mid 60s with Southerly breezes at 5-10mph as Ms Sun tries to shine through it all.  Tonight... 20% chance of rain showers and with temps in the low-50s and winds out of the SW at 6-8mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy to start as Ms Sun's expected to shine as temps rise into the mid-upper 60s along with more blustery winds out of the S-SW at 15-25mph.  93 days until Summer!

Last Day Of Winter

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are light out of the E-NE at 4-8mph. First thing I noted stepping outside was all the birds chirping.  Lots of happy birds out there today.  The sky is also making its presence known as it's spectacular this morning. Ms Sun's has begun her crossing over the horizon on this last day of Winter and all the beautiful pastels are coloring the sky at the moment.  Plenty of sunshine will be kicking off this last day of Winter as afternoon clouds roll in.  Temps will be in the low-50s with E-NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... thick rain clouds with 80% chance of rainfall as temps drop back into the mid-40s with SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... occasional rain showers (mainly in the morning) as a cloudy day is in the forecast for the official first day of Spring with temps climbing into the low-60s and Southerly breezes at 10-15mph.  I don't usually look forward to Winter but my hope is that we're all still here at the end of this year on December 21st to welcome you back!

St. Patrick's Day

Mornin'!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some cloud cover making that ol' ocean sound of the waves crashing loud and clear from 6+ blocks away. There are breaks in those clouds as Ms Sun will be getting through the gaps a bit later this morning.  Breezes are barely there out of the NE at 4-6mph.  Looks like we'll have a partly cloudy start to the day as Ms Sun is checking in.  It'll be a nice one... partly sunny / partly cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 50s and N-NW winds at 10-15mph shifting to the SW by early this afternoon.  Tonight... some cloud cover giving way to mainly clear skies with temps dropping into the low-40s and NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... generally sunny with temps tapping 50° and light breezes.

I guess I'd be irresponsible if I ignore mentioning the Pandemic - The Corona Virus that's occurring in this world around us.  As I've been reflecting on life as of late including all those intense momentous life challenges (loss of a baby, death of both my parents and brother-in-law at very young ages, critically sick other child, breast cancer and 2 hurricanes as I evacuated turning my back on my home... I'd say this virus is on my top ten list.  So much wonder and uneasiness happening now.  And, not just under my roof as all three of my grown children and their families who all live away from me are hibernating with fear as well.  I'm sleeping less and worrying more these days while worrying about them along with myself and husband.  So far... no reports of the Corona virus in Cape May County.  We all know that it could change at any moment but for now... it's only looming around us.  My sister (in Washington state) called last night to say someone in her office has tested positive so everyone alongside her are home quarantined waiting.  Like the news has been reporting on most of the country's towns and neighborhoods...  St. Patty's day celebrations are on hold till next year, Wildwood's streets are quieter, schools are closed, churches have no services, Public buildings are closed, stores are more crowded than usual with empty shelves, restaurants and bars are closed, Moreys Pier announced that they're not opening as usual for Easter break as they hope to open by Mother's day. Everyone's doing their part. Many grateful thoughts and prayers for all the healthcare and virus front-line workers in this world of ours.  We're all doing what we can to see this through as we self-quarantine and attempt to conquer and obliterate this monster virus before it tries to check in and get us first.  Very unsettled, scary times yet lots to be grateful for.  Just hearing my husband whistling is a gift as well as cuddling my pooch Freddy.  My focus stays on continued prayers and good energy thoughts as well as staying hunkered down and doing some spring cleaning, painting, gardening, reading books, watching movies, cooking and baking, crocheting, walks, bike rides, keeping in touch (while social distancing) and keeping my thoughts "in the moment".  In a post from Elizabeth Gilbert (one of my favorite authors)... here's an exercise to practice for focusing on staying in the moment, "Five things you can see, four things you can hear, three things you can feel, two things you can smell, one thing you can taste."   And, never forget... the universe wanted us here.  Be safe.

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit as Ms Sun's on her way over the horizon in about a half an hour.  Breezes are out of the NE at 10-12mph.  We're heading into a sunny to partly cloudy day again with a high of 49° and a bit stronger breezes out of the East at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower or two (25% chance). Temps down to the low-mid 40s and East winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... clouds to start off and partial clearing with warmer temps... mid-50s.  Sunrise and Sunset are exactly 12 hours apart today!

Ides Of March

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly under thick cloud cover at the moment.  Winds are light out of the NE at 4-6mph.  It's the Ides of March... the day Julius Caesar was murdered (stabbed to death) in 44BC.   Many are superstitious on this date in the history of unfortunate events.  I'm not expecting anything but rain showers this morning (70% chance) with afternoon clouds clearing out making way for some sunshine.  I'm thinking it will be a 50-50 kind of weather day.  A little cloud cover with a cold feeling then some blue skies for a bit of a late day warm up.  Temps will barely tap 50°.  Winds will be out of the NE at 10-15mph. It'll feel chilly for sure.  Tonight... clear with temps around 40° with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... generally sunny with a little mix of afternoon clouds tapping 50° and by evening... 40% chance of rain showers with Easterly winds at 10-20mph.

Saturday's Weather Mix

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  What strikes me first when stepping outside is the stillness and quiet along of course with the fragrance of the briny waters surrounding me. The sky is full of stars as it's still moonlit from this week's super moon along with light breezes out of the N-NW at 4-8mph. It feels mild and nice.  It'll be a weather variety mix today beginning with sunshine (Ms Sun's due up in just over an hour) and mostly blue skies then turning cloudy this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s.  By the way, yesterday we got up to a lovely 68°.  Not today as the clouds that roll in later will bring in a damp chill as temps begin to drop.  Today's breezes will be out of the NW at 9-12mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 60% chance of rain with temps in the upper 40s and NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... rain in the wee hours, a cloudy morning to partly cloudy then mostly clear by the end of the day (sunset) and much cooler temps with a high of 45°.

Spring Has Sprung Down The Shore On Friday The 13th

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a miserable morning... the rain clouds are overhead as it's coming down at a decent clip.  Winds are out of the South at 10-15mph.  It'll continuing raining throughout the morning and begin to clear out this afternoon.  Chance of rain this morning... 90% chance. We may also see some fog around dawn.  By this afternoon... this rain system begins checking out as temps get into the mid-upper 60s!  That's not a typo. We're more than likely going to see Ms Sun for the remainder of the day as the stronger winds enter and bring back the blue skies by this afternoon (W-SW at 18-22mph).  It'll feel blustery but pleasant.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps about where they are now... low 50s with W-NW winds at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, temps in the low-50s and calmer wings (West 5-10mph).  Sunday... partly sunny and cooler (upper 40s) with North winds.  Spring is officially in 6 days but today is certainly a spot-on preview.

Sunny Start - Cloudy Finish

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with light breezes out of the N-NE at 4-7mph.  The first thing I noted was the birds this morning... lots of tweeting, chirping and squawking greeting me when I stepped outside.  It certainly had a Spring feel to it.  It's a lovely morning.  It'll be a sunny start to the day and eventually have a mix of clouds and sun giving way to a cloudy afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy, temps in the low-40s and winds light and variable (E-NE 2-5mph).  Tomorrow... basically a repeat of today... lots of clouds and temps in the low-50s.  At this point, the weekend's looking okay with no rain in sight and seasonable temps.

First Of Daylight Savings Time

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up.  Breezes are light out of the West at 4-6mph.  It's quiet with just birds chirping.  The fragrance of the sea and marsh around us is in the clear, morning air.  It's a lovely daylight savings kind of morning.  If you didn't spring all those clocks ahead before turning in last night... then most likely you're late.  It'll be a perfectly lovely Sunday down the shore with plentiful sunshine, breezes out of the W-SW at 9-12mph and temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Tonight... long evening with a late sunset, and it'll mostly clear with a nearly full moon, temps in the low-mid 40s and breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same but with a Full Moon and even warmer temps (tapping 60°).

It's "Spring" Forward On The Clocks Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling like 31° with that windchill from the N-NW winds at 18-22mph.  We're under partly cloudy skies as Ms Sun's been doing her best to break on through this morning.  There's a 20% possibility of a shower early with overcast skies and windy conditions.  Sunny skies this afternoon as temps rise to the mid-upper 40s.  It'll feel like the low-mid 30s though because of these N-NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  Hopefully, all that sunshine will take that bite out of the equation.  Tonight... clouds clear out making for a moonlit evening with temps in the low-mid 30s and those (you guessed it) N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... "daylight savings" will be mainly sunny with temps in the mid-50s and W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Remember to turn those clocks tonight before turning in yourself!

Coastal Flood Advisory Posted For Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover with winds out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  It's feeling damp with those breezes wafting over the island.  Expect periods of rain today (100% chance).  Temps will only rise a few degrees as 48° looks like the high.  Winds will shift out of the North at 15-20mph by this afternoon making that high have a windchill.  Three quarters of an inch of rain is possible. There is a coastal flood advisory posted for tonight into early tomorrow due to the rainfall in addition to the higher than normal tides because of Monday's Full Moon.  Be aware of the coastal low-lying areas prone to flooding (watch where you park your vehicle).  Tonight... raining into the overnight as temps drop into the upper 30s possibly creating a wintry mix. Winds will begin to kick up (still out of the North) at 20-25mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy becoming sunny with temps in the upper 40s and still blustery.  Sunday... sunny with a high near 52°.  Those North winds are not supposed to check out until Sunday afternoon.

March Has Arrived!

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  23° windchill with 8-12mph NW winds wafting over the island.  Certainly has a nip in the wintry morning air.  Ms Sun just rose in the clear sky almost an hour ago.  But, it's quite a difference from this time last year on March 1st as we were getting pelted with an icy, driven snow as the island was completely covered in white.  I want to say "Welcome, March" but it's extremely hard.  Not a fan of March weather.  Born and raised in Philadelphia, March was always the month that Spring sprung.  The beginning of sneak-peaks of warmer sun, birds chirping all the time, fragrant air with fresh blooms and buds starting to pop everywhere making things more colorful... you know... all that nice Spring stuff.  Not here.  A northeast coastal town holds on to the end of winter weather with a vengeance and Wildwood is no exception.  The culprit is the winds.  They're pretty intense and unforgiving.  The 42° water temperature surrounding us joins with the gusty winds... and it goes right through you.  I do believe that the earth is warming at an alarming rate and its waters are changing (warmer, higher water levels, trash-laden etc) and who knows March could be the new April or even May.  I mean we had at least 10 days in February with temps over 50° and a couple in the 60s!  I didn't check, but I'm pretty sure January had a couple of those type of days too.  That's not normal.  Typically we would have had major winter weather... really low temps (teens or single digits), frozen harbors, intense freezing windchills, ice, snow, sleet and maybe a blizzard thrown in.  We had none of that this winter in regard to March's weather it's as unpredictable as guessing when that first hurricane will hit between June 1st and November 30th (hurricane season).  One thing I will predict with a good deal of certainty... winds are checking in this month, lots and lots of winds. March doesn't disappoint in that regard.
Today's weather will be cold and blustery.  Expect abundant sunshine with temps in the low-40s (feeling like mid-30s) with winds out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight... clear and 38° with S-SW breezes at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 50s and S-SW winds at get this... 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... 30% chance of rain with gusty winds!  Welcome March?
