May Is Biding Us Adieu

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  May's packed and at the door and we'll have a splendid weather day as she waves good-bye.  It's currently sunny with gentle winds out of the West at 4-8mph.  The island birds are all making their presence known as their chirps and squawks along with the morning sea breeze wafts (wifts) through the house.  I just watered all the plants both outside and inside.  We're set for awhile.  At least until Thursday night / Friday morning when rain is due in.  Not today though... it'll be a May Beauty.  Expect plentiful sunshine, temps around 85° with W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... a few passing clouds, temps back down into the mid-upper 60s with West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps cooler around 70° with E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy with temps in the upper 60s and gentle S-SE breezes.  Until next year May, you were kind to us (except for that Mother's Day Nor'easter weekend) as you brought those gentle, warm sea-breezes and of course all those lovely Spring flowers!  See you on the other side!

Happy Memorial Day!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's over the horizon and shining over the island already!  Breezes are out of the SW at 2-3mph and are barely there.  Humidity's 93% with a 61° Dewpoint.  The birds are happily chirping and squawking as they seem the first to be awake this morning.  All the weekend merrymakers are quiet now as the birds do all that they can to waken them.  I haven't mentioned the "check-in" folk this weekend.  They're here!  They've been arriving since Thursday and these numbers will be staggering once the tallies are taken.  We're jammed packed on our island as I'm sure every island along the Coast is due to this incredibly perfect summer weather.  That gorgeous weather includes today and tomorrow.  For today, expect sunny skies with temps in the mid-upper 70s and S-SW winds at 9-11mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the mid-60s with SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the low-80s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Wednesday.and Thursday... some more beauties on tap.  Happy Memorial Day everyone!  And, for those who aren't sure... Memorial Day is a National Holiday (declared by Congress in 1971) its roots dating back to the Civil War era, and unlike Veterans Day, today honors all military members who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  Don't forget to give some thought to them as you relax and enjoy your freedom and this lovely seashore of ours. Kicking Off Memorial Weekend Today

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under a "Dense Fog Advisory" as the island is wet and drippy.  Humidity's 99% with a dewpoint of 61°. That means the air temperature, dew point and ocean temp are all the same at the moment. That doesn't happen often. Winds are out of the South at 8-11mph. There's a 60% chance that this fog could lead right into showers and thunderstorms (mainly this afternoon).  Temps will be near 70° with South winds at 5-10mph then increasing to 15-25mph.  Tonight... showers and thunderstorms (70% chance) right into the overnight with temps in the low 60s and winds out of the S-SW at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... slight chance of showers in the morning with a partly sunny day, temps in the mid-70s and West winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... sunny with temps in the low-mid 70s and NE winds turning SE at 4-8mph.  Monday... mostly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 70s and S-SW winds turning S-SE at 5-10mph.

There's so much going on this Holiday weekend, I'd be typing away for the next hour.  The "events" calendar is on under "My Personal Favs" or click on https://wildwoodsnj.com/events-calendar/ and that will get you there.  I'm sure the events planner may have missed an event or two or three but it's happening this weekend.  My street is proof of that... parking's already at a premium.  Oh... it's Friday so I'm throwing in my seasonal, weekly, Beach Etiquette and Tips for the first time this year.  Enjoy!  Happy Memorial Weekend!

Friday Beach Etiquette and Tips:

*Stuff to pack for the beach - shoes. Always wear footwear as the beach sand is extremely hot. Don't forget the kids... insist they wear something on their feet.  I pack bottled water, a spray bottle of water for you never know what, a hat, footwear, towel, sunblock, insect repellent (in case the winds shift from the west (land breeze) those "West winds" bring the biting green head flies), first aid kit (I include a tiny bottle of vinegar for jelly fish stings just in case), shade (umbrella, canopy of some type), a bungee cord to secure your umbrella for those windy days, something to read, sanitizing wipes or wet washcloth, a small trash bag to collect the trash you may accumulate. I always pack my crocheting project as I find crocheting on the beach very relaxing.  Some of my best baby blankets are full of briny yarn!
*When setting up your spot (campsite) at the beach, give those around you a little courtesy and not set up too close to them.  It's always amazing to watch arriving folk completely unaware of their actions as they begin setting up their umbrella, blanket and chair only inches away from folks settled in.  Most beaches are huge (with the exception of North Wildwood) and there are blocks and blocks of available, open beach space yet it sometimes feels like new arrivals seek out people to sit nearby.  It happens more often than not and I have yet to figure out this strange phenomenon. There's plenty of beach to go round.
*Know your "tide" times.  You can always ask the lifeguard as they will know high tide.  If the tide is at its highest when you arrive, you can set up right at the water line and watch the beach grow bigger and bigger as the tide subsides taking 6 hours to slip into low tide.  It takes 6 hours for the tide to go from High to Low and then turn around and begin to go from Low to High (12 hour total).
*Tips for setting up your umbrella: be aware of the wind direction and wind speed.  On a windy day, take those extra steps to secure your umbrella.  Sand screws or sand grabbers are great for securing umbrellas and it's best to dig a hole first before twisting that screw in and of course packing the sand around it.  Also, a bungee cord attached to the umbrella and then to your cooler or beach cart works wonders for securing it. It's not uncommon to see umbrellas launched by the winds and more often than not into unknowing folks who are about to be impaled by your airborne, out of control umbrella.  It's inevitably happens while the entire family is in the ocean not realizing that their umbrella flew 2 blocks away.  Oh... when opening your umbrella... always point the umbrella toward the wind as this phenomenon never disappoints.  Most of the time, folks turn their back toward the wind and open the umbrella bringing about an inside out, uncontrolled umbrella on your hands giving you lots of air time.
*Beach Courtesy: Begin by teaching your children courtesy at the beach. Teach them not to run or chase one another around someone else's blanket or chair.  Teach them not to walk or run on or close to someone's blanket. I've seen toddlers who take off running onto anyone's blanket in their path.  Wildwood's sand is light and very fine and is inevitably kicked up innocently by those passing by your chair or blanket.  Wildwood sand is fantastic but can be a nuisance if wind-blown all over everything and everyone.  It's always getting innocently kicked up.  Keeping aware of it really helps.
*When shaking out towels or blankets, be conscious of the wind direction and shake away from those in the line of "sand" fire.
*Advice for parents of toddlers on the beach (1-2 year olds)... bring a "pack-n-play" for them as I can assure you that your beach day will be much more enjoyable with those babes surrounded with toys and snacks in their little mesh, private encampment under an umbrella.  Your babe will enjoy the beach much more when she/he has had some controlled beach time right alongside you.  Not to mention they won't be as sandy and can enjoy snacks, lunch, a bottle, a diaper change, not to mention a nice sea-breeze induced nap while you relax and enjoy your beach time right next to them in their pack-n-play.  I recently saw a young couple of a baby not old enough to walk, dig a round trench about 6" deep and place a piece of plastic (much like a part of a shower curtain) over the 2-3' wide hole and fill it with the ocean water so the babe could sit inside the makeshift puddle being entertained and cooled off as they played in their own little ocean pool.  It was ingenious.
*If you enjoy music on the beach... remember to pack your headphones.  Believe it or not, the majority of beach folk would much rather listen to the sounds of the surf or perhaps soft conversation; not the loud bass or hip hop profanity blasting next to them from your Bluetooth speakers.  Sorry... but it's something that happens a lot and it sucks.
*There is "no smoking" of any type on the beach. Wildwood Crest has a designated smoking area by the dunes.  There's "no smoking" on the boardwalk.  New Jersey has legalized Marijuana and you can smoke it privately on your property but you can't do it in public.  There are no Pot dispensaries in Wildwood.
*For the pooches, there are two dog parks right on the beach.  At 24th and the Beach in North Wildwood and one in Wildwood between Glenwood and Maple on the Beach as well (it's exceptional).  Read the posted rules... no food being one of them.  Dogs must always be on a leash when not in the dog parks.
And this was posted recently by the City of Wildwood: Upon entering both sides of the dog park, there are signs regarding the behavior of children within the park. The sign states that children need to stay off the sand piles and obstacles which are solely intended for the enjoyment of dogs, yet the signs appear to be continuously ignored or disregarded. The Wildwood Dog Park is just what the name implies, a “Dog Park”. It is NOT a playground for children. The obstacles are not built with the safety precautions and standards of playground equipment, therefore we do not allow children to use them. For the park to remain in operation, the rules posted must be adhered to. If children are seen on the obstacles and sand piles, those children and their party will be asked to leave the park and “NOT RETURN” for violating the park rules. The Wildwood Dog Park also restricts unsupervised access to minors unless accompanied by an adult, while completely restricting access to children under the age of 8 AT ALL TIMES. Our goal is to keep the dog park as enjoyable to dogs and their owners as possible, and limit safety concerns that may jeopardize the very existence of the park. *Feeding seagulls is a no-no.  Eat and snack smartly.  Waving hands when expressing oneself while holding lunch is a magnet for swooping gulls.  Drop just one potato chip and you'll have seagull havoc.  Eat conscientiously under your umbrella or chair canopy.  Seagulls are vultures and are smart and endlessly eyeing beach goers eating habits.  They're relentless in trying to find the opportune moment to swoop down and pluck lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times).  By the way, seagulls know "chip bags" and if you have an unsupervised beach bag with chip bags exposed, they'll think nothing of helping themselves to that bag and will share their newly acquired bag of Lays Chips with all their gulls family and friends while you're in the ocean without a care in the world as 40 gulls party on your blanket.
*Playing ball, Frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, kite-flying, ladder toss, spike ball, paddle ball, volley ball, Kan-jam, beach darts, you-name-it etc. are not allowed to be set up and played where beach-goers are camped.  Go back by the dunes where the big beach is empty and no one is sitting to enjoy your more active beach games.
*Observe all posted signs and warnings... Beach closures for whatever reason... weather, rip currents, storms, surfing only beaches, no alcohol or pot, no dogs or pets.  If in doubt, just ask the lifeguards.
*Never leave trash on the beach.  Better yet, pick up any that you may see whether it's yours or not.  There are many, many trash and recycle containers on the beach and surrounding areas.  You might as well use them rather than let all that trash make its way into the ocean for the fish to eat or get tangled in. Remember... whatever the fish eat, we eat too.  Plastic is an epidemic.  Speaking of plastic... New Jersey no longer has plastic bags available.  It's now all about bringing your reusable bags to save the planet from those fly-away, take-forever-to-disintegrate plastic bags.
*Lastly, be courteous. Courtesy is key.  Be kind and considerate to all those enjoying this beautiful moment right along with you. It's a lot of fun being at the beach.  Try not to bring those unmindful, mean spirited, (sometimes "vulgar") nasty, moods. We can all take the time and effort to make a really nice beach day even nicer.  It's easy. Happy Beaching!

Not As Nice As This Past Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  We survived last night's thunderboomers, winds and heavy rains.  The island certainly got a nice watering.  No damage to report (thankfully).  Ms Sun has risen but is concealed by cloud cover surrounding the island.  There are breaks here and there as sunshine breaks through but for the most part... it's a cloudy morning.  Winds are out of the North at 8-11mph.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with temps in the upper 60s / low 70s.  Winds will be out of the NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with more rain (mostly on the overnight).  Temps will drop to the upper 50s as East winds will blow at 5-10mph.  Chance of rain if 40%.  Tomorrow... overcast with 50% chance of rain showers and temps in the low-60s. 5-22-22

Mornin'! It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining brightly as the breezes waft (wift) over the island out of the SW at 9-11mph.  We reached 91° yesterday at mid-day but the humidity (thankfully) stayed low and there were light breezes making it not only tolerable, but a lovely preview to summer.  The humidity at the moment is 87% and feels a bit on the sticky side.  All windows are wide open with those happy, boisterous island birds sounding off.  This weekend's weather loveliness will continue as we'll be seeing partly cloudy skies today with temps in the mid-upper 70s.  Winds will be out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  There's a 15% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm.  Keep your eye on the sky.  Tonight... clouds begin to roll on in with 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms.  Temps will drop into the low-mid 60s with SW winds shifting to the N-NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with a high of 67° and NE breezes at 10-15mph.

A Beautiful Saturday

This Morning's Web Cam Shot North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining through some hazy milky cloud cover and winds are out of the SW at 8-10mph.  The island birds are showing their weather enjoyment as their rowdy, happy, boisterous yaps and chirps are everywhere non-stop. I enjoy it so much. They're what woke me this morning.  We're going to have record high temperatures today.  Expect a partly sunny day with temps in the mid-upper 80s and SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... some cloud cover, temps back to where they are now... mid-upper 60s (thankfully as I'm not turning the air conditioner on yet like all my neighbors have).  Tonight's winds.. S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy, a 25% chance of a passing stray shower or thunderstorm and temps in the upper 70s with S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  There's a 60% chance of rain tomorrow night.  Monday... mostly cloudy with a high of 68°.

Good Weather In Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's giving it all she's got to shine this morning but there's some cloud cover at the moment.  Breezes are light out of the S-SE at 4-8mph.  It's supposed to become sunny this morning but clouds will increase this afternoon.  We could also see areas of patchy fog.  Temps will be tapping 70° with S-SE winds going from a gently breeze to 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly to mostly cloudy with temps down to where they are now... low-mid 60s and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... it's looking like an unofficial kickoff to summer (1st day of summer is a month away) with partly sunny / partly cloudy skies, and temps in the low-mid 80s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... mix of sun and clouds with a stray thunderstorm possible, temps in the low-mid 70s and S-SW winds a bit stiff at 15-25mph.  Okay, if you're in the Philly/Bucks County area or even Millville/Vineland area, this will be a hot, summer weekend coming up for your section of the map.  I've been watching and reading this coming weekend's weather forecasts and everything is pointing to temps in the mid-90s for you.  Not that intense summer humidity but a hot one just the same.  If you're having those "let's head down the Shore" thoughts spinning round in your head and decide to make the 1-2 hour trek to get here and beat the heat... prepare accordingly.  Wildwood isn't going to have that same intense hot weather as the City.  We could see the mid-80s but for now it seems only on Saturday.  It'll be on the cooler side today barely passing 70°.  Tomorrow with those 80° temps seems to be perfect.  Sunday... partly cloudy, high of 70° and breezy which will feel much cooler.  And remember, it does still get cool in the evening (pack a light jacket or sweater) as those 60° temps are perfect for sleeping.

Wet Start / Dry Finish

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wilwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with breezes out of the South at 15-20mph.  It's a perfectly miserable morning.  If there's anyway you can roll over and stay in bed with the comforter up to your chin, now's the time.  Ms Sun does intend to show herself and begin to shine a little later this morning once these rain clouds disperse.  We've had rain showers overnight watering all my gardens that I just planted over the last couple days and for that I'm grateful.  No watering for me today!  So, it's supposed to stop raining by later this morning. Then, become partly sunny with temps in the mid-70s along with SE winds turning to West by the afternoon at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mainly clear, low of 58° and S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... clear with temps around 70° and winds out of the South at 10-20mph.  The weekend still looks nice with mostly warm, sunny conditions on Saturday (may reach low-mid 80s) and Sunday... mostly sunny and temps in the mid-70s. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the tragedies that happened this week regarding sand.  Just 75 miles north of Wildwood in Toms River NJ, a teenager was killed after digging a huge hole on the beach as all the sand he dug collapsed around him and trapped him.  Same thing happened this week in a Utah state park to a teen while digging a tunnel in a sand dune which ultimately buried him alive. It just shows the vulnerability, instability and weight of sand when you think you're just simply having fun digging in the sand. Be forewarned about the seriousness and dangers of simply digging large holes in the beach sand. It's a tragic way to kick off the season, but it must be said.  Be extremely careful when it involves digging big, deep holes at the beach.  Always remember to always fill those holes back in so no one else accidentally falls into one; especially little children.

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining and the breezes are light out of the N-NW at 4-6mph.  Windows are opened again with the sounds of the island birds taking over the sound waves!  Yesterday, we almost tapped 80° (my thermometer on the porch said 79°)!  Today... the high is supposed to be 70° with mostly sunny conditions and NW winds shifting to the SW at 10-15mph.  This afternoon, clouds will begin to roll in and by tonight... showers will be developing (70% chance) with temps around where they are now... mid-upper 50s.  Southerly winds will be ramped up a bit at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... showers in the morning (60% chance) becoming partly cloudy / partly sunny by the afternoon as temps get into the mid-70s with SW winds at 10-20mph.  At this time, we're finally looking at a nice weekend with sunshine and mild temps in the mid-70s.

Taste Of Summer

West Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly! We haven't had a start to the morning like this in quite awhile.  The island birds are all showing their satisfaction and happiness as the sound of their chirps, whistles and squawks along with this sweet, briny air seeps through the opened windows all over my home.  The light breezes are out of the West at 4-9mph.  It's going to be pretty today so expect a lovely taste of summer with plenty of sunshine, temps in the mid-upper 70s and West winds (on the windy side) at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly clear, temps down into the low-mid 50s and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... much like today but cooler (mid-upper 60s) and less windy (West at 10-15mph).

Nice Start To A Mostly Rainy Day

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under some cloud cover but we've got some blue sky in the cloudy mix and Ms Sun's up and doing her best to shine through every now and then.  Breezes are barely there out of the S-SW at 5-7mph.  It's going to be partly sunny early with clouds taking over as scattered "strong" thunderstorms developing this afternoon.  We could see damaging winds, hail and even a tornado is being a possibility in today's weather forecast.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with Southerly winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain today is 90%.  Tonight... rain ending early, then clearing by the overnight.  Temps will drop down into the mid-50s with West winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain tonight... 60%.  Tomorrow... mainly sunny day with temps in the low-mid 70s.  It'll still be breezy with West winds at 10-20mph.  I never made it for the red-moon eclipse last night as that full moon was under some foggy, misty skies last night.  Plus, I turned in fairly early.  I'm sure someone saw it though!

Lunar Eclipse Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under some thick foggy conditions again this morning with breezes out of the S-SW at 5-7mph.  Expect some widespread, dense fog this morning (mainly before 10am) otherwise, a mostly cloudy day with possible peeks of sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 60s and S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  There's a 20% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm today as well.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, with showers after midnight (40% chance) and temps back to where they are now... mid-50s.  Winds will be out of the South at 10-5mph. There's a lunar eclipse happening tonight (10:27pm) and by 12:53AM on Monday a total eclipse of the moon will occur.  The moon, earth and sun will all fall into alignment as the moon passes through the darkest part of earth's shadow (umbra) creating the eclipse. The disappointing fact to all of this is that the Coast will probably not be able to see it because of all the cloud cover.  Sunday night into Monday may be just partly cloudy, but it all remains to be seen (or not).  If we do get to see that upcoming Full Moon aka Blood Moon through the darkness the sun's rays will paint the moon a reddish hue as any blue/green colors will be scattered in the atmosphere and invisible to our naked eye... only the orange and reds will remain visible.  If the clouds do disperse tonight (very unlikely), we may see a moonrise over the ocean's horizon around 7:48PM.  It's always a blast to see that.  As for tomorrow's weather... looks like we're going to have another cloudy, damp day with 80% chance of precipitation, temps in the upper 60s and Winds out of the South at 10-15mph ramping up by nightfall, then shifting out of the SW at 20-25mph as temps drop back into the mid-50s.  Tuesday... a perfect sunny day!

Soup's Still On

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a "Dense Fog Advisory" posted this morning as the soup's still on.  Breezes are out of the East at 6-8mph.  If you haven't seen thick fog down the Shore, check the Wildwood Webcams and you'll get to see all that murkiness happening at the moment.  It inspired me to make some homemade soup yesterday and it wasn't pea soup.  It was chicken noodle and yummy.
Expect a day like yesterday but add to it 80% chance of rain showers.  Expect foggy, overcast conditions with temps in the low-60s and Easterly breezes at 5-10mph.  Rain should begin right before noon.  Tonight... a few showers early, then fog develops later tonight into the overnight.  Temps will return where they are now... mid-upper 50s with winds light and variable.  Tomorrow... fog, then a cloudy day with 25% chance of rain showers and temps in the mid-upper 60s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Speaking of tomorrow... there's an eclipse happening late Sunday night (10:27pm) and by 12:53AM on Monday a total eclipse will occur.  The moon, earth and sun will all fall into alignment as the moon passes through the darkest part of earth's shadow (umbra) creating the eclipse. The disappointing fact to all of this is that the Coast will probably not be able to see it occur due to the cloud cover. If the clouds do disperse tonight (very unlikely), we may see a moonrise over the ocean's horizon around 6:30PM.

Soupy Weather For Friday the 13th

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Friday!  We're in the soup as it's foggy, saturated, drippy and a bit breezy with winds out of the NE at 10-15mph.  It's funny that the seagulls seem to be loving this weather as their squawks and laughs can be heard loud and clear throughout my neighborhood.  And, that's through my tightly closed up house.  This morning fog doesn't seem to want to burn off and instead will turn into a cloudy day with a stray shower or thunderstorm possible (25% chance).  Temps will tap 60° with E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy, then becoming foggy again with a slight chance of a shower.  Temps will drop to where they are  now... mid-50s and Easterly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... showers in the morning (50% chance) with a cloudy day on tap.  Temps will be in the low-60s with E-SE breezes at 5-10mph.  Sunday... mostly cloudy with peeks of sun possible.  Chance of rain showers are anywhere from 20-30% chance depending on what time of the day it is.  Temps will be in the low-60s.  Full Moon Monday... mostly cloudy, temps in the mid-60s and rain by late afternoon / early evening.  Tuesday... SUNSHINE... remember sunshine?  Well, it's headed this way in 4 days!

Grayness Continues

This Morning's webcam Shots

Mornin'!  I'm back in the blog seat!  So, what did I miss?  While in Georgia visiting my daughter, I enjoyed lovely Spring-like weather yet kept a close watch of what was happening here in Wildwood during this ugly Nor'easter that hovered over the coast this past weekend.  I truly had that feeling of dread upon returning late yesterday wondering the worst.  I'm happy to report that no wind or water damage happened to my home while away.
For today's weather here in Wildwood NJ... it's currently 51°, gray and windy with winds out of the NE at 18-22mph.  It'll be cloudy today with 20% chance of a rain shower and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Temps will get into the upper 50s.  Tonight... clouds remain checked in with 40% chance of rain as temps drop down to where they are now... the low-50s with NE winds at 10-20mph.   Tomorrow... scattered thunderstorms in the morning (50% chance) with occasional showers by the afternoon as temps tap 60° along with NE winds at 10-20mph.  The weekend's looking wet and not as windy with Saturday being the wetter of the two days and Sunday rains in the morning and late evening.  By the way, the next full moon (Full Flower Moon) is next Monday and will certainly be pulling on our tides creating some flooding havoc on our saturated island.  May's been dishing out some wet, chilly, windy weather that's for sure.  Just wait... I keep saying that there's no doubt that when Summer does show herself, it'll be with a hot vengeance! 40 more days! It's good to be home!

Last Of The Fair Weather Days

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood.  It's cloudy again with winds out of the N-NW at 3-6mph.  We're probably going to see a decent day with a mix of clouds and sun today as temps tap 60°.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly clear in the early evening becoming cloudy overnight.  There's a 15% chance of a passing shower tonight as temps will drop to the low 50s with E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Beginning tomorrow, rain-is-a-coming and will stay checked in until early Monday morning.  The next three days will have temps in the low-mid 50s but it'll feel like the mid-upper 40s as it'll be extremely windy not to mention damp and raw.  We're going to see some major beach erosion as well as tidal flooding no doubt with this rain system.  Be aware of those high tides and low-lying areas on the island and especially where you leave your vehicle.  For me, it's another weekend with family as I'll be taking another weather blog hiatus to spend with them.  If all goes as planned, I should be back at it by Tuesday or Wednesday.  If you're curious about Wildwood weather during the interim, you know what to do.  Just click on "Weather Wunderground" under my Personal Favs and type in Wildwood NJ or our zip code 08260 for very accurate weather.  And, don't forget the warm sweater, hooded wind-breaker and your wellies.  Be careful out there this weekend.  See you on the other side!

Happy Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  We remain under thick cloud cover with humidity at 99%.  It's wet out there. No rain coming down at the moment but nicely watered from the overnight showers and morning humidity.  Winds are out of the SE at 5-10mph.  I guess it doesn't matter if it's gray and dismal or sunny and bright as the neighborhood seagulls are doing their excited morning squawks in their finest seashore fashion welcoming the day.  Seems like it's going to be a mostly cloudy day with 30% chance of a shower or two this afternoon.  Like yesterday, we may seek peeks of sun later.  Temps will get into the mid-upper 60s with Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly clear / partly cloudy with temps in the mid-50s and N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...mostly cloudy skies with partly cloudy skies later in the day with temps near 60°.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... clear with temps in the mid-50s with light and variable winds.  This coming weekend looks like a &@$#-show with rain and nasty winds both Saturday and Sunday.  All forecasts I've checked are reporting almost Nor'easter conditions.  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 25-35 +gusting as it's raining.  Raincoats, windbreakers and wellies look like the weekend fashion style.

Cloud Covered Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  We're under thick cloud cover as it's a gray start to the day.  Breezes are out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  It's not going to be like yesterday that's for sure. Yesterday, we had blue skies,  sunshine and believe it or not reached 75°!  It was amazing and felt like a summer day down the Shore. All windows open and ceiling fans circling (counter-clockwise). Not today or tomorrow for that matter.  Fans are off and only a few choice windows are cracked.  I love some sort of seabreeze along with gulls screeching non-stop (it's mating season).  Expect a generally cloudy day with possible and occasional peeks of sunshine this afternoon.  We'll have cooler temps around 55° and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy with rain showers (70% chance) as temps go back down to around 50° with Easterly winds at 10-20mph. Tomorrow... variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms (50% chance) all day into the evening.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 60s.  Winds will be out of the S-SE at 5-10mph.

May 2nd

Mornin'! Happy May!  It's a day late welcoming May in my blog (due to extra curricular activities with the family and grand-babies) but it's always nice to welcome one of the loveliest months of the year along the Coast.  It's not quite as lovely as the weekend was, but hey, it always could be worse. Plus, chances are today will turn into some loveliness just like the weekend.   It's 57° in Wildwood NJ and is cloudy with light breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.  There's a 20% chance of a shower or two this morning.  Sunshine is expected begin peeking in later this afternoon with temps just about tapping 70° and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly clear, low around 50° and Easterly winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more cloudiness, high around 57° and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.
