Adios January!

Mornin'!  It's 54° in WW this last day of January.  It's lightly raining and the winds have finally settled down.  Whew...those winds yesterday and last night were brutal!  Bet those doggie motor homes were-a-rocking in the Wildwood Convention Center parking lot last night.  They're going to kick up again later today this time from the West (30-40mph) and bringing more seasonable, colder temps.  Today's temps will drop into the low-40's later.  Ms. Sun will be checked in today!  As for the month of January 2013...not bad; not bad at all!

Stormy weather due in

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  It's mostly clear, starlit, moonlit and the sound of the sea is loud and clear this early morn.  It's breezy but will get much breezier as winds will be wifting (I mean wafting) in from the South and off the Atlantic at 20-25mph with gusting all day.  By tonight we may see 50mph gusts.  Even though the temps are going to tap the 60° mark, it'll feel much chillier with those ocean "bad hair day" breezes blowing in all day.  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun earlier in the day and by sunset, it'll be raining; the heaviest rain by midnight and overnight...2" and tidal flooding is forecasted.  We may even have some thunder during this winter storm.  The motor homes carrying all the Show dogs have begun arriving in the Convention Center parking lot for this weekend's Dog Show.  Gonna be a stormy night for the pooches.

Lovely Winter's Day

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood under a partially clear, starlit, early morning sky.  No breezes to write about.   It'll be mostly sunny once the clouds clear out and be a somewhat mild day as temps rise into the mid-upper 40's.  Who knows...if Ms. Sun does her magic...that ol' thermometer may tap the 50° mark.  Breezes will be gentle from the West at 8-10mph.  Looks like a lovely winter's day at the Shore.

Duck Weather

Mornin'!  It's 23° in WW.  It's calm and quiet under a cloud filled sky.  There's a storm approaching which is supposed to begin in a couple hours and stick around throughout the morning.  (70% chance).  Here's the story...this storm called "Luna" I guess due to the Full moon that's still hanging around is an ice storm and creating havoc as it journies from the mid-west.  By the time she hits our coast, it's looking like a rain event although it will begin with snow showers, then some icy mix before rain stays steady into the early afternoon.  Depending on how high our temps go and they're supposed to go into the high 30's, we may not see any accumulation or icy conditions.  All remains to be seen.  But overall, it's looking much like a crapola day to start the work week.  Par for the course as what's Bob Geldof say?..."I don't like Mondays"...me either Bob.  Winds will commence a bit later from the SW at 20-25mph.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 22° this sunny Sunday.  The sky is partially and beautifully cloud filled and is providing the sunrise a magnificant display of colors.  Ms. Sun will be over the horizon any moment.  The Moon is full today.  The air is crispy and fragrant with the sea and the breezes are out of the N-NW at 5mph.  It's a crisp, quiet, lovely winters morning on the island.  The smell of a fresh brewed pot of coffee adds to the morning lovliness.  It'll be sunny and cold today with temps barely tapping the 30° mark.  Winds will be out of the NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...cloudy, raw with possible (40% chance) showers.  Watch the tidewater in the streets due to the Full Moon today and tonight...don't drive through it.

Sunny Winter Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 21° in WW under cloudy skies and the island's first covering of snowfall.  Had a couple inches of the white stuff last night as the island's a winter wonderland.  I can see the morning developing as the thick clouds are somewhat broken along the horizon and displaying lovely pastel colors of pinks, oranges and yellows.  Not sure if it'll be a decent sunrise but Ms. Sun is on her way as I type.  Not much to write about in the line of breezes.  We will have breezes later at 20-25mph from the NW.  Temps are staying the 20's and barely reaching the 30° mark, although tomorrow temps will be in the 30's.  Today, a mostly sunny wintry Saturday once the clouds pass through.  Homemade New England Clam Chowder is on the intinerary!

Snow's-A-Comin'

Mornin'!  It's 21° and clear and still in Wildwood this early morn.  It'll be a cold and dry start to the day. Clouds will begin thickening as they filter in by this afternoon.  Winds (which are nothing at the moment) will be out of the W-NW at 10-12mph.  There's a 90% chance of late afternoon/early evening snow.  Every forecast I've checked is saying a dusting to 3 to 4 inches.  It'll be a dry, light snow so sweeping could be in order rather than shoveling.  The weekend's looking sunny, dry and very cold.

Beer Can Appreciation Day!

Mornin'!  It's 21° in Wildwood.  The sky is overcast and cloudy.  It's cold, quiet and still.  Everything's got a light crispy layer of the snowy frost.  Jeez...com'on summer!  Temps won't get much higher today but clouds will give way to sunshine as winds will stay checked in and making temperatures feel alot colder than they truly are at 25-30mph +gusts from the N-NW.  Snow is still predicted for tomorrow afternoon/evening as I'm keeping a close watch on any accumulation.  So far...anywhere from 2"-6" as the shovels are now in the front of the Shed.  Full moon this weekend (Sunday 1/27).  Oh...147 days until Summer...please hurry and bottoms up!

Another crispy one

Frozen Delaware Bay-Winter 2010
Mornin'!  It's 18° in WW with clear, starlit skies and  minimal breezes.  It's a crisp, cold winters' morn on the island.  Temps will just about tap the 20° mark today as Ms. Sun will be on our side and pour down on us making it feel just a tad more comfortable.  I'm thinking "tapping 20°" can't be at all comfortable.  But, it is what it is.  Winds will be out of the W-NW at 20-22mph.  We're not going to see the 40's until next week they're saying.  Today...another crispy winters' day.

Blustery, bitter winters' day

Mornin'!  It's 23° in Wildwood + winds howling at 29-33mph w/gusting from the W-NW = 11° chill factor!  It's feeling a bit bitter at the Shore.   We had a nice dusting of the white stuff last night and everything's coated nicely and quite crunchy.  Winter seems to have checked in big time.  Going to have to make a little extra time getting the vehicles scraped off.  It'll be a bright, sunny day with those strong winds howling from the same direction maintaining that chill factor.  There will lots of sun today with temps barely tapping the 20° mark.  There's a couple important announcements this week.  First, I'm now allowed to share the fantastic news that I'll be adding "grandmom" to my profile this summer.  We're going to be blessed with our first grandbaby who will be visiting our seashore home from time to time and grow up knowing the Wildwoods.  It's going to be so much fun to introduce the seashore to the little one.  Talk about excitement in the salt air!   And, hubby and I decided to share our island home with a new puppy which we adopted this past holiday weekend while away on a mini-vacation!  Welcome Freddy!  God bless this little pup who did his duty in the snow covered, crunching, freezing backyard this cold, winters' morning!

Polar Plunge Day

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and brilliantly starlit.  The air is dry and crisp with no breezes to write about.  They're coming though from the S-SW at 15-25mph by the time the crazies are running for the drink at 1p.m.  It'll be sunny and clear and crisp today with temps heading into the mid-40's.  Could be much worse for plunge day.  It's the breeze that will make it nipply if you get my drift.  Tonight back into the high 30s/low 40s.  Tomorrow...much like today.  Sun's staying checked in all weekend!

Ms. Sun's checking back in today!

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood.  We missed the bullet...no white stuff last night.  None.  Nada.  Nothing.  Hahahahahah!  Not sure where the snow went but it wasn't on Wildwood's coast.  Not this time.   At the moment, it's still dark with stars filling the early morning sky.  I'm so excited.  After 8 days of heavy gray cloud cover, no stars at night, no blue skies and just damp, foggy, misty, rainy conditions...Ms. Sun is checking in for at least a week!  I can almost feel her warmth and she hasn't risen yet.  Temps will barely tap 40° and breezes will be out of the N-NW at 18-22mph and switch by dinner time from the W-SW at 5-8mph.  Tomorrow's Polar plunge...looking just about the same as today...barely 40°, sunny and breezy.  Prepare accordingly and focus on the most important thing while plunging...your feet.  Have someone waiting with a towel and fuzzy slippers or boots to address the intense pain in your feet once you've ran out of the 46° ocean.

In the Storm's Path today

Mornin'!  It's 43° in WW.  There's light rain coming down as I type.  It's feeling a bit like Seattle as of late in the Woods and I'm beginning to forget what it's like to have sun peering in the windows.  The island's right in the path of a winter storm pointed directly at us from the South.  The morning rain showers will transition to snow showers by the afternoon.  Every forecast I checked said that the snow will ramp up and continue tonight and all night hitting the southern Jersey coast with anywhere from 2-4" of the white stuff.  Now where did I put that snow shovel and scraper?  Last I remember, it was in the "to be hosed down" pile covered with loads of Sandy debris.  Temps will begin dropping and by this afternoon will be in the low-mid 30's.  W-NW breezes will be 15-20mph.  So that's that...it's looking like Wildwood's about to have it's first snowfall of the year and after I'm done blogging I'm heading to the closet for the winter gear.  Oh...all forecasts are saying "SUN" will return sometime tomorrow.

Another chilly, raw one

Mornin'!  It's 39° in WW.  Rain, rain go away.  It's been dreary and gray and raining for a few days now.  It rained hard all night long and will continue to rain today as this steady rain will continue throughout the morning and begin tapering off to a light drizzle by this afternoon.  We're not going to see peeks of sun until tomorrow afternoon.  I'm having sunshine withdraw as I crave it's glowing warmth. The temps today will reach the mid-40's with winds out of the E-NE at 10-15mph and will do a complete switch and shift to W-NW this afternoon.  Sounding like another chilly, raw one.  Saturday's looking sunny for the Polar Plunge as the temps will be about the same as today but breezes will be a tad stiffer...25-30mph and that will certainly bring on the goosebumps.

Gray today

Mornin'!  It's 43° in WW.  At the moment we've got thick, pale gray cloud cover.  No rain; no breezes; but everything outside is dripping wet.  It's intensely quiet except for the sound of water dripping everywhere.  The aroma of the sea is prevelant this early morn as well.  Temps aren't going to get much higher today as they'll hover around the mid-40's.  Breezes will come this morning out of the N-NE at 10-13mph.  Rain showers are expected throughout the day as steadier rain develops tonight and into the overnight.  It could be raining early tomorrow as well.  I doubt if we'll see any sun until Friday as she'll be checking in for the weekend just in time for Wildwood's Polar Plunge. Gray today though.

Wet and Mild

Mornin'!  It's 49° under starry skies.  Fog's lifted.  Clouds have dispersed.  There's a gentle breeze out of the W-NW at 5mph.  Looking like a "wet" one as rain is forecasted on at least 3 weather sites I've checked.  Looks like 60% chance of rain showers today as the clouds will roll in this morning bringing some moisture.  Temps are heading up into the mid-upper 50's.  Breezes will continue to be out of the W-NW but by this evening will shift from the W-SW at 15-20mph.  Rain will continue through tonight into tomorrow as temps dropped back into the 40's feeling like it should...cold.

SanFran-ish

Mornin'!  It's 44° in foggy Wildwood.  The island's socked in this San Fran-like morn.  Feels nice outside though with that heavy, fragrant air.  A foggy chill in the air instead of a cold winter chill.  Although this time Tuesday the Woods will be back in winter mode.  Today...foggy, yet mild.  Ms. Sun will be doing everything in ther power to shine, but all forecasters are pointing to the fog winning this round.  Temps will climb into the mid-50's again, but unless Ms. Sun is out, we're going feel damp and chilly.  That's okay...just add another log to the fire.  Breezes (none at the moment) will begin later this morning and they're coming from the warm South at 9-12mph.  Monday...much like today but no sun trying to peek out as the rain looks like it'll win tomorrow's round.

A pleasant winter's Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood as we're in cloudy/foggy conditions.  It's beginning to brighten out there as I type though and I'm anticipating the forecasted sunshine anytime this morning.   Sun is expected to develop before the morning's gone.  It'll be nice and unseasonably mild today with temps heading back up the thermometer at mid-50's  Breezes will be initially out of the NW at 10mph then shifting by late this afternoon from the South.  Overall...a pleasant day down the shore once we get the gray, dampness out of here.  Oh...the New Moon effects are still being felt as the streets are flooding as expected from the high tides.  Take heed...don't drive through the ocean water!

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's not quite as clear as yesterday morning this time but just as nice if you ask me.  There's some clearing in the sky yet there's light clouds evident over portions of the starlit sky.  Could make for a fabulous sunrise.  It's very quiet except for the sounds of the surf (six blocks away it almost sounds like a highway full of rush hour vehicles).  The air is thick with the fragrance of the sea today.  Makes you want to take it all in with long deep breaths.  Well, some may find that aroma offensive as it's a strong fishy smell, but it's perfect if you ask me.  It's going to be a mixed bag for the end of the work week.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with temps just tapping the 50° mark and staying there into the overnight. Temps will stay on the mild side into Monday.  Rain is due in tonight and intends to stay overnight.  Breezes will be out of the S-SE at 15-20mph.  At the moment...no breezes.  If you ask me Ms. Sun can't seem to make up her mind as she'll be checking back in tomorrow for the day and checking back out on Sunday.

A Tad Cooler Today

Mornin'!  It's 43° under crystal clear skies this early morn.  No breezes.  The island's ambiance completely surrounded me as I stood on the back porch in the darkness gazing up at the stars filling the sky.  Even in the dark silence, I could hear, feel and smell the shore.  Sometimes you need to be quiet and let the presence of the island fill you up.  It couldn't get any better.  Temps will be shaved off a bit from yesterdays but it's going to be on the mild side tapping the 50° mark as the sun once again pays her visit.  It'll be mostly sunny with some wispy clouds filtering in and feeling just a tad cooler.  Breezes will commence later this morning from the NW at 10-15mph. Looking "wet" for tomorrow.

Mornin'!  It's 40° in WW.  It's dark, clear, and quiet on the island.   The stars are-a-twinkling again this morning.  Clouds will roll in a bit today as it'll be partly sunny/partly cloudy with temps heading into the 50's.  No typo as the temps could reach mid-50's depending how Ms. Sun beats out the clouds and shares some of her warmth.  Breezes will be out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  It'll certainly be a very mild winters hump day. Winter's taking a little hiatus

Mornin'!  It's 38° this clear, starlit morn in Wildwood.  It's quiet with no breezes to mention.  Sun's due up over the horizon in about an hour.   I could probably get away with a quick cut and paste from yesterday's blog entry as the morning is definitely a repeat of yesterday.  It'll be sunny again with temps going up into the "upper" 40's today.  Each day this week, the temperature will rise a little and by the weekend it's going to feel balmy so enjoy while the gettings good. But keep in mind winter will be checking back in just about this time next week.  Today's breezes will check in but from a slightly different direction...SW at 15-20mph.

Temperature is in the Limelight

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  The sky is still dark but crystal clear and starlit before the sunrise.  It's always darkest before dawn.  And, we'll see dawn arrive in all its spendid glory when that sun crosses the horizon in just about an hour from now. It'll be a sunny day today.  There's a very slight breeze out of the N-NW which will increase just a bit at 10-15mph.  The temps will increase slightly and hold around the mid-40's.  Speaking of temps, they've been topic of converation as of late as they're supposed to increase a bit each day this week and by the weekend may be in the 60's.  That's no typo.  You may want to dust off the sandchair.

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood.  At the moment, it's mostly overcast but there's also a clearing in the dark, morning sky as some stars are visible.  The clouds are forecasted to stick around creating snow showers and/or rain sprinkles the early part of the day (30% chance).  By this afternoon, the sun's going to check in and it'll be mostly sunny with some minimal clouds.  Temps will be in the mid-40's as the winds (none to mention at the moment) will arrive first from the S-SW then shift and begin wifting (I mean wafting) from the West at 15-20mph and by later this afternoon...calm to 5-10mph.

Ahhh...there's a chill in the Air

Mornin'!  It's a chilly 24° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit with no breezes to write about.  The Harbor had a sheen of ice on it for the first time since last winter.  The moors and any remaining docked boats will be moaning with the tides movement and the thawing and re-icing of the water.  I'm not so sure the waters will thaw out today as temps are staying in the 20s...albeit the high 20s.  The sun is checked in for the weekend beginning today.  Winds will ramp up a bit out of the W-SW at 10-20mph with some gusting.

Hazy, Hot and Humid it's not!

Typical hazy, hot and humid July day on Wildwood's beach
Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood.  First "20's" for quite awhile and definitely the first of 2013.  My achy bones are not a fan of the 20's.  Thankfully there are no breezes at the moment thus no chill factor to write about.  The moon is a tad obscured...much like the ol' scary, werewolf moon with moonlit, hazy clouds slowly passing over exposing it along with the last of the evening stars.  Speaking of clouds, it will partly cloudy/partly sunny today as the hazy sun will be fighting for space all throughout the day today.  Yesterday turned out to be mostly sunny so I'm optimistic.  Temps will be in the low-30's with breezes coming a little later out of the NW at 10-15mph. Tonight...still in the 30's, feeling like the 20's with clear moonlit skies.

78 days until Spring

Mornin'!  It's 33° under cloudy skies in Wildwood this early morn.  No moon.  No stars.  Just clouds.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with a 10% chance of a sprinkle.  There's also a chance of breaks of sun peeking through today as the rest of the week looks mostly sunny.  Today though...everyone's saying mostly cloudy.  Remains to be seen. Temps aren't going anywhere as they'll be staying in the mid-high balmy 30's and be much colder than they have been.  Layer up I say.  No breezes to write about but they'll start showing up later this morning from the NW at 15-20mph.  78 days until Spring!

Happy New Year!

Mornin'!  Happy New Year!  How many times have we heard or read or wrote that in the last day or so?  All bets are down that this year will be a "happy" one but I'm still going to go with one day at a time.  Speaking of day...today is on the chilly side as Wildwood's temp is 41° this first weather blog of the year.  We're under thick clouds and I expect no sunrise to see.  Winds are minimal out of the W-NW at 10-12mph.  They'll pick up just a tad today at 18-22mph staying out of the W-NW.  It'll look and feel like rain all day but there's only a 40% chance that will see any.  Temps will hover around just where they are at the moment.   The sun will be returning tomorrow and be checked in through the weekend.
