"Red Sky In The Morning..."

Nice Sunday Evening; Great weekend!
Evenin'! I'm thinking it's the 1st time I've written "Evenin". It's a lovely one too. It's 44° and hardly a breeze, but the clouds have been piling up even before dusk. Which by the way made for a lovely sunset in the West sky. Rains-are-a-coming tonight and will stick around until mid-morning tomorrow. Temps will be mild tomorrow too. Time to reflect on a great weekend. Great to hang out with friends paying a Wildwood visit. Met some new friends too. Love that. Enjoyed a very successful Leprechaun leap yesterday and the weather certainly provided a very nice winter's day. Nothing bone chilling unless you were in the ocean and stood around chatting soaked and wet like some do. Hard to watch but I can never turn away. The ocean was and is 43°.

A Mixed Bag
Mornin'! It's a mixed bag today. It's still dark with dense fog over the island this very early morning. I'd wager...in one hour from now...no sunrise to be seen. So, here's the mixed bag...intense fog, mist and periods of light rain, mild temps (45° now and heading up into the mid-upper 50's today), the gales are back (Southerly winds @ 15-25mph with gusts), making for that noisy freight train sound (ocean's roaring, winds are howling as I type and are only going to get more intense). So, here's the best part...this wild wildwood weather will continue all morning until peeks of sun appear this afternoon. But, once that happens...clouds move in again and this time with Gale force winds out of W-SW at 20-40mph with 50-60mph gusts! Gale's aren't giving up (good luck if it's your trash collection today). And, due to all this quick changing movement in the unstable weather...we'll have a chance of thunderstorms along with the rain later today! I think I covered it all. Except for the white stuff and that's not happening. In fact...last night's rain took all WW's snow away! Lawns are green/and or brown again. High tide:1:22p.m.: Low tide:7:24a.m.; Ocean temp:42°. Tomorrow's Plunge weather...mostly sunny and mid-upper 40's and only a light breeze! I couldn't imagine if it were today. 23 days until Spring!Thursday, February 24, 2011

WHATEVER!
Mornin'! All Wildwood Public and Parochial schools are closed! Not sure how anyone else feels, but I'm done with snow...shoveling, clearing the car off, dealing with "drifts", getting soaked from it, driving in it, shivering from it, slipping on it, just looking at it...whatever! It snowed throughout the night in Wildwood and everything's covered in several inches of snow. It's still snowing as I type. According to forecasters...snow will be ending sometime this morning and sun will make it's 2/22 debut this afternoon sometime. Temp is 25° and will rise into the mid-upper 30's as the day develops. Winds are out of the NW at 10mph and will pick up later heading into the 20mph zone with gusts of 25mph. High tide: 10:20a.m.; Low tide:4:35p.m.; Ocean temp:43°. 26 days until Spring. Big sigh.

Happy President's Day!

Mornin'! Thanks for the holiday Presidents Washington and Lincoln. It's currently 41° in Wildwood and the breezes are minimal but it is spritzing outside at the moment. It's quiet except for the ocean's roar. Oh...and the seagulls are noisy this morning and seem happy or perhaps they're excited and possibly pissed off that winter's returning later today. They know more than we do. I was just asking my better half a few days ago..."do you think we're done with snow?" His answer..."I doubt it; remember it's still winter." So with that said, the spritzing will continue throughout the day. There could be a peek of two of sun, but every forecast I've checked...no sun...just intermitten periods of light rain until it's a constant rain; turning to a wintry mix; then 1-2" of snow tonight right into tomorrow. The light winds are currently coming out of the W-NW at 10mph, but will shift later today and begin to waft from the NE at 20mph. Temps will remain in the 40's but drop to mid-20's tonight. Oh yes...hubby's right on...Winter's still here. High tide:9:30a.m.; Low tide:3:44p.m.; Ocean Temp: 43°. 27 days until Spring! Sunday, February 20, 2011
Sunny Sunday Start

Gales are back!

Mornin'! It's currently 48° in Wildwood. Temps are much cooler today. Actually feels cold, but the sun is bright and strong. The winds are even stronger. The gale force winds are coming out of the WNW at 40mph with gusts of up to 50-60mph! You talk about "howling"...they are doing just that as I type. The winds will be their worst late this afternoon and this evening. The Nat'l Weather Service is talking "preparedness" in case of power outtages. Whew! Talk about a bad hair day/night...just give it up but be prepared! It's gonna be sunny all day as the temps stay in the high 40's and the ocean is churning with winds and gales that will be relentless for hours and hours to come. I'd suggest staying away from any boating activities and also...wear a hat, bandana or hood up if you're heading to Sam's for a slice today. High tide: 8:21p.m.; Low tide: 2:11p.m.; Ocean temp: 44°. The moon is just still slightly full and bright so a couple things...watch the tide waters...don't drive through them and the moon rise tonight is at 7:42p.m. 29 days until Spring!Friday, February 18, 2011
Record Heat today
Mornin'! It' currently 47° in Wildwood. It's still dark, a bit hazy and damp, but the skies are brightly lit by the full moon (slight haze around it) as well as by my neighbor's overbearing, bright, backyard spotlight that remained on all night long (hate that...should be banned). The stars are shining. The breeze is calm and nothing significant to write about. Oh...and the ocean's very loud this early morn which is also providing a heavy smell of the sea over WW. It's all good as we're going to see a mostly sunny day with temperatures breaking records as long as the land breeze (W-SW 10-15mph) wafts over the island. We could see temps in the high 60's and may break records by hitting the 70° mark. The weekend will have more seasonable temps in the mid-upper 40's and like I said yesterday, Winter may have a curtain call in store for us next week as cold temps and flurries are predicted by Tuesday so don't pack the winter clothes away just yet. I'm just saying. High tide:7:04a.m.; Low tide:1:26p.m.; Ocean temp: 42°; Full moon rise today: 6:27p.m. (keep an eye on those tidewaters!) 30 days until Spring!

Cloudy Sunday Morning
Mornin'! It's 27 crisp degrees in Wildwood this morning. Sunrise is due at 6:53a.m. but will be obscured by clouds. Skies are overcast and winds are minimal at 5mph coming out of the SSE. Wildwood's in the midst of a warming trend and today we'll have a mix of sun (once it appears) with a mix of clouds with temps rising to the high 40's perhaps even a glimpse at 50°. Winds will shift and pick up at 20-30mph coming from the SSW later. High tide:3:04p.m.; Low tide:9:18a.m.; Ocean temp: 40°; Sunrise:6:53a.m.; Sunset:5:34p.m. Tomorrow...the heat is on and I'm not talking just because it's Valentines Day! Oh...The Phillies reported to Clearwater, Florida today for the start of Spring training...if that doesn't say Spring is in the air...nothing does...35 more days until Spring!

Abraham Lincoln's Birthday and a More Seasonable Saturday
Mornin'! Happy Birthday Abe! It's currently 21° in Wildwood as sunrise is about a half hour away. The horizon's every shade of crimson, orange, coral, pink, gold. Lovely. Hardly a breeze outside at the moment. Temps will rise into more seasonable numbers...mid-upper 40's! It'll be mostly sunny today as the westerly breezes enter the scene. The winds will begin to persist all day at 15-25mph with gusts of 30mph but will settle down by this evening and turn southerly at 5-10mph. It'll be pretty much a repeat of today's weather tomorrow. For today's tides...High tide:1:57p.m.; Low tide:8:12a.m.; Ocean temp: 39°; Sunset: 5:33p.m. This time next week...we'll be looking at our next Full Moon. Oh...I almost forgot...Happy Valentines Weekend to all those lovebirds out there. You know who you are!

Freezin Friday
Mornin'! It's 16° in Wildwood right now as the winter sunrise is beginning to bring an orange glow to the horizon. It's supposed to get up into the mid-upper 30's with sun shining to warm the island today. Winds will be minimal out of the southwest at 5-15mph. High tide: 12:49p.m.; Low tide:7:05a.m.; Ocean temp: 39°. The weekend's looking like it'll be mostly sunny with the westerly winds returning. And, I'm excited to see that next week could bring a 60° day but that remains to be seen. 37 days until Spring!

A Winter's Morn
Wednesday, February 9, 2011
Bluster's outta here
Mornin'! It's 19° in Wildwood this morning. It's really tough having tidbits of Spring here and there, then be slammed with 50+ mph gusts of icy winds! This house was-a-rocking last night! Winter's only inching over and continues to relentlessly make her presence known. It's certainly wintry this morning. Those intense W-NW winds have diminshed yet we're still having 5-10mph wafts. They'll keep Wednesday cold and brisk (no more than 33°) and just like they took yesterday's clouds away...today they're blowing some back over the island. Skies are clear as sunrise is on its way in this early morning darkness. It'll be sunny most of today and by this afternoon will be cloud covered to the point of snow flurries and snow by late tonight...forecasters are saying a dusting. High tide:11:52a.m.; Low tide:5:58p.m.; Ocean temp: a balmy 40°. 39 days until Spring!

Touch of Spring is out of here and Gale has returned!
Mornin'! Weather's just the opposite of yesterday. It's currently 37° in Wildwood as the rains come down this dark early morn. Right now winds are minimal but are aimed right at the island and will be coming from the N-NW at 25-30mph with gusts of 50+mph (The Gale warnings will be out) by later this afternoon. Those winds will push out the clouds and bring with them sun with a winter chill before the sun sets. Temperatures could drop into the teens by tonight. High Tide:10:28a.m.; Low Tide:4:37p.m.; Ocean temp:40°. 40 days until Spring!
