"Red Sky In The Morning..."

Mornin'! ..."Sailors take warning"...I'm just saying. It's currently 46° in Wildwood this last day in February. Sky's cloud covered for the most part, but I'm seeing a very "red sky" on the horizon. Not good. It's gonna be stormy day. Right now the ocean's loud and sounding extremely angry. You can see the lighthouse beam 3 miles away. What clouds are over the ocean are deepening with red colors as daybreak's less than an hour away. Forecasters are saying there's a mix of rain this morning, some clearing with sun later today and then wind and rain for the evening. Temps will rise into the mid-upper 60's providing fuel for some possible unstable stormy, wet, windy, weather later. Right now, no rain, not much wind. High tide:4:46p.m.; Low tide:10:40a.m.; Ocean temp:45°. 21 days until Spring!

Nice Sunday Evening; Great weekend!

Evenin'! I'm thinking it's the 1st time I've written "Evenin". It's a lovely one too. It's 44° and hardly a breeze, but the clouds have been piling up even before dusk. Which by the way made for a lovely sunset in the West sky. Rains-are-a-coming tonight and will stick around until mid-morning tomorrow. Temps will be mild tomorrow too. Time to reflect on a great weekend. Great to hang out with friends paying a Wildwood visit. Met some new friends too. Love that. Enjoyed a very successful Leprechaun leap yesterday and the weather certainly provided a very nice winter's day. Nothing bone chilling unless you were in the ocean and stood around chatting soaked and wet like some do. Hard to watch but I can never turn away. The ocean was and is 43°.

Bluster's Out and Leapers are In!

Mornin'! It's 34° this quiet and very still morning in WW. Sun's a bit late due to thick clouds laying right on the horizon. In fact, it's just about to peek over the clouds and I actually caught the sun creating a rainbow right in the direction of the sunrise. Pretty cool. The bluster's gone and there's no breeze to speak of at the moment thankfully as the Leapers are going in the drink in North Wildwood today. By the way...all proceeds from today's plunge goes to the Philadelphia Fallen Heroes Survival Fund. Registration begins at 9a.m. at the 15th Street Beach for the 11a.m. Leap. A NW breeze will appear at 10mph probably by the time they're all running into the sea. Temps will be in the mid-upper 40's and as the day progesses, the clouds will also be making it a mostly cloudy beginning later today. No rain in the forecast and winds will eventually drift into a light breeze from the South by early evening. Tomorrow will be much of the same with more sun than clouds and a bit higher temps. High tide: 2:44p.m.; Low tide:8:39a.m.; Ocean Temp:44°. 22 days until Spring!

A Mixed Bag

Mornin'! It's a mixed bag today. It's still dark with dense fog over the island this very early morning. I'd wager...in one hour from now...no sunrise to be seen. So, here's the mixed bag...intense fog, mist and periods of light rain, mild temps (45° now and heading up into the mid-upper 50's today), the gales are back (Southerly winds @ 15-25mph with gusts), making for that noisy freight train sound (ocean's roaring, winds are howling as I type and are only going to get more intense). So, here's the best part...this wild wildwood weather will continue all morning until peeks of sun appear this afternoon. But, once that happens...clouds move in again and this time with Gale force winds out of W-SW at 20-40mph with 50-60mph gusts! Gale's aren't giving up (good luck if it's your trash collection today). And, due to all this quick changing movement in the unstable weather...we'll have a chance of thunderstorms along with the rain later today! I think I covered it all. Except for the white stuff and that's not happening. In fact...last night's rain took all WW's snow away! Lawns are green/and or brown again. High tide:1:22p.m.: Low tide:7:24a.m.; Ocean temp:42°. Tomorrow's Plunge weather...mostly sunny and mid-upper 40's and only a light breeze! I couldn't imagine if it were today. 23 days until Spring!

Clouds and Meltdown heading this way

Mornin'! It's currently 27° in Wildwood. It's crisp, clear and still as the sun's about to take center stage and the ocean's thunderous roar can be heard in the far off distance. Clouds are aimed directly at our little island and as they thicken will begin to release their rains by late this afternoon and continue all evening right into tomorrow. Sounds like a damp, chilly, raw afternoon and evening ahead. Tomorrow could be much of the same but sometime in the afternoon the rains should be checking out. The key word is "Meltdown" as the rains wash away snow still covering WW. Could it be today is the last time we'll see snow this winter as it disappears right in front of our eyes? The gulls can be heard sqawking loudly this morning...like I said before...they know more than we do. 24 days until Spring! Today's temps will hover around the mid-upper 40's and breezes will be out of the South at 10-15mph. High tide:12:19pm.; Low tide:6:31p.m.; Ocean temp: 42°. 24 days until Spring...oh did I say that already?

Humpday already!

Mornin'! The week's flying by; must have been that holiday Monday. It's only 3 more days until North Wildwood's Leprechaun Leap! It's currently 21° in Wildwood this still, dark, clear, starlit, morning. Skies are cloudless and I'm counting on a spectacular sunrise. Temps will be more seasonable today and rise to the mid-40's. Sun will be hanging out the entire day and as it's been feeling a bit stronger...it should make for a pretty nice day and really put its magic to work in making the snow still lying everywhere disappear. Breezes will eventually come from the NW at 10mph. High tide:11:16a.m.; Low tide:5:30p.m.; Ocean Temp: 43°. For Leapers wondering if there's any prediction to Saturday's forecast...yep...exact same forecast as today's! 25 days until Spring!

WHATEVER!

Mornin'! All Wildwood Public and Parochial schools are closed! Not sure how anyone else feels, but I'm done with snow...shoveling, clearing the car off, dealing with "drifts", getting soaked from it, driving in it, shivering from it, slipping on it, just looking at it...whatever! It snowed throughout the night in Wildwood and everything's covered in several inches of snow. It's still snowing as I type. According to forecasters...snow will be ending sometime this morning and sun will make it's 2/22 debut this afternoon sometime. Temp is 25° and will rise into the mid-upper 30's as the day develops. Winds are out of the NW at 10mph and will pick up later heading into the 20mph zone with gusts of 25mph. High tide: 10:20a.m.; Low tide:4:35p.m.; Ocean temp:43°. 26 days until Spring. Big sigh.

Happy President's Day!

Mornin'! Thanks for the holiday Presidents Washington and Lincoln. It's currently 41° in Wildwood and the breezes are minimal but it is spritzing outside at the moment. It's quiet except for the ocean's roar. Oh...and the seagulls are noisy this morning and seem happy or perhaps they're excited and possibly pissed off that winter's returning later today. They know more than we do. I was just asking my better half a few days ago..."do you think we're done with snow?" His answer..."I doubt it; remember it's still winter." So with that said, the spritzing will continue throughout the day. There could be a peek of two of sun, but every forecast I've checked...no sun...just intermitten periods of light rain until it's a constant rain; turning to a wintry mix; then 1-2" of snow tonight right into tomorrow. The light winds are currently coming out of the W-NW at 10mph, but will shift later today and begin to waft from the NE at 20mph. Temps will remain in the 40's but drop to mid-20's tonight. Oh yes...hubby's right on...Winter's still here. High tide:9:30a.m.; Low tide:3:44p.m.; Ocean Temp: 43°. 27 days until Spring!

Sunny Sunday Start

Mornin'! Nascar Season officially begins today! (that's Florida though) It's currently 30° in Wildwood, NJ this bright sunny Sunday morning. It'll go into the mid-upper 40's today. Winds have backed off a bit. It's now "breezy" with winds still coming from the NW at 15-20mph. Those winds will shift later from the SW by early evening and by late evening the rain showers will begin and hang out all through the night into tomorrow morning. It won't be a complete washout for President's day though as the sun will return by late morning. High tide: 8:39a.m.; Low tide: 2:59p.m.; Ocean temp: 44°. 28 days until Spring!

Gales are back!

Mornin'! It's currently 48° in Wildwood. Temps are much cooler today. Actually feels cold, but the sun is bright and strong. The winds are even stronger. The gale force winds are coming out of the WNW at 40mph with gusts of up to 50-60mph! You talk about "howling"...they are doing just that as I type. The winds will be their worst late this afternoon and this evening. The Nat'l Weather Service is talking "preparedness" in case of power outtages. Whew! Talk about a bad hair day/night...just give it up but be prepared! It's gonna be sunny all day as the temps stay in the high 40's and the ocean is churning with winds and gales that will be relentless for hours and hours to come. I'd suggest staying away from any boating activities and also...wear a hat, bandana or hood up if you're heading to Sam's for a slice today. High tide: 8:21p.m.; Low tide: 2:11p.m.; Ocean temp: 44°. The moon is just still slightly full and bright so a couple things...watch the tide waters...don't drive through them and the moon rise tonight is at 7:42p.m. 29 days until Spring!

Record Heat today

Mornin'! It' currently 47° in Wildwood. It's still dark, a bit hazy and damp, but the skies are brightly lit by the full moon (slight haze around it) as well as by my neighbor's overbearing, bright, backyard spotlight that remained on all night long (hate that...should be banned). The stars are shining. The breeze is calm and nothing significant to write about. Oh...and the ocean's very loud this early morn which is also providing a heavy smell of the sea over WW. It's all good as we're going to see a mostly sunny day with temperatures breaking records as long as the land breeze (W-SW 10-15mph) wafts over the island. We could see temps in the high 60's and may break records by hitting the 70° mark. The weekend will have more seasonable temps in the mid-upper 40's and like I said yesterday, Winter may have a curtain call in store for us next week as cold temps and flurries are predicted by Tuesday so don't pack the winter clothes away just yet. I'm just saying. High tide:7:04a.m.; Low tide:1:26p.m.; Ocean temp: 42°; Full moon rise today: 6:27p.m. (keep an eye on those tidewaters!) 30 days until Spring!

Warmth continues...

Mornin'! It's currently 46 balmy degrees in Wildwood. It's still dark and the starlit sky is obscured by clouds. There was even a little spritz out there this morning. Not sure if the sunrise will be visible or not. Forecaster didn't mention clouds or rain, but it is what it is. Sun is predicted most of later today with highs in the 50's. SW winds at 15mph will prevail most of the day turning from the South later. Those lovely breezes will be giving the island a true sneak preview of Spring tomorrow as temps rise near...get this...near 70°! Don't pack away the winter woolies yet though as Winter could have a curtain call next week. High tide:6:45p.m; Low tide:12:40p.m.; Ocean temp: 42° and 31 days until Spring.

Wildwood's Warming Up a Bit

Mornin'! It's a crisp (21°) and clear early morn in WW. Winds are minimal but will pick up a bit later coming out of the S-SW at 15mph. It'll be mostly sunny today as temps rise up into the mid-upper 40's and we could even possibly see 50° before the sun sets. It'll be warmer tomorrow and even warmer Friday (the full moon). This could be the first of the "warming sand" fragrance detected in the sea air (you know what I'm talking about). But, let's not forget the smell of Sam's Pizza baking this weekend as they begin their season! The warming trend is mostly not going to hang around for the weekend, but it won't get bitter cold. High tide:5:06p.m.; Low tide:11:54a.m.; Ocean temp:42°.

Wildwood's Wind Whipped

Mornin'! Wildwood's wind whipped...say that fast three times. We seem to be getting more than a taste of March in February with those intense March-like winds and gusts and gales. But, that also includes sneak previews of warmer temps as it reached 60° yesterday. It's currently 36° and clear in Wildwood this morning. Sunrise is due in less than an hour at 6:51a.m. and should be lovely. Winds are out of the NW at 15-25mph with gusts of 40mph. Those winds seem to be booking a stay for the entire week too. Talk about an unwelcomed guest. Today will be mostly sunny and windy with a high of 39° and unlike yesterday we'll be lucky to see 40's on the outside thermometer. I'm seeing a forecast of get this...70° on Friday along with those uninvited winds. It'll be a full moon Friday as well. Ocean temp kicked up a couple notches and is now 42° and before you know it...we'll be wading in that badboy. High tide:5:05p.m.; Low tide:11:06a.m. And, by the way...I had a lovely Valentine's dinner at the Lobster House...with delicious stuffed (with chunks of crab, scallops and shrimp) flounder and a perfect sunset to go along with it! That memory will stay with me for quite awhile for sure. Love it here.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mornin'! I can feel the love and the sun's not even up yet! It's 43♥ in Wildwood on this dark, clear, starlit early morning. Sunrise will be 6:52a.m. and will be bright and beautiful this morning. Breezes are coming out of the S-SW at 10mph and will pick up later today bringing along some clouds as well as gusts of 30mph. Temps will rise into the mid-upper 50's today and some areas (remains to be seen for the island) could see 60♥. It's all gonna change tomorrow and head back down into the 30's so enjoy today's sneak peek of Spring...34 days away! Sounds like a perfect beach day later to catch the sunset at 5:35p.m.; (I'm including a hat, scarf and gloves as it's still cold on the beach) and perhaps a visit to Cape May Point to view that romantic sunset before heading to the Lobster House for a Valentine's dinner of broiled seafood combo! Does it get any better than that? Oh...almost forgot...high tide: 1:09p.m.; low tide:10:43a.m.; ocean temp:40♥ Get out there and feel the love today and Happy Valentine's Day!

Cloudy Sunday Morning

Mornin'! It's 27 crisp degrees in Wildwood this morning. Sunrise is due at 6:53a.m. but will be obscured by clouds. Skies are overcast and winds are minimal at 5mph coming out of the SSE. Wildwood's in the midst of a warming trend and today we'll have a mix of sun (once it appears) with a mix of clouds with temps rising to the high 40's perhaps even a glimpse at 50°. Winds will shift and pick up at 20-30mph coming from the SSW later. High tide:3:04p.m.; Low tide:9:18a.m.; Ocean temp: 40°; Sunrise:6:53a.m.; Sunset:5:34p.m. Tomorrow...the heat is on and I'm not talking just because it's Valentines Day! Oh...The Phillies reported to Clearwater, Florida today for the start of Spring training...if that doesn't say Spring is in the air...nothing does...35 more days until Spring!

Abraham Lincoln's Birthday and a More Seasonable Saturday

Mornin'! Happy Birthday Abe! It's currently 21° in Wildwood as sunrise is about a half hour away. The horizon's every shade of crimson, orange, coral, pink, gold. Lovely. Hardly a breeze outside at the moment. Temps will rise into more seasonable numbers...mid-upper 40's! It'll be mostly sunny today as the westerly breezes enter the scene. The winds will begin to persist all day at 15-25mph with gusts of 30mph but will settle down by this evening and turn southerly at 5-10mph. It'll be pretty much a repeat of today's weather tomorrow. For today's tides...High tide:1:57p.m.; Low tide:8:12a.m.; Ocean temp: 39°; Sunset: 5:33p.m. This time next week...we'll be looking at our next Full Moon. Oh...I almost forgot...Happy Valentines Weekend to all those lovebirds out there. You know who you are!

Freezin Friday

Mornin'! It's 16° in Wildwood right now as the winter sunrise is beginning to bring an orange glow to the horizon. It's supposed to get up into the mid-upper 30's with sun shining to warm the island today. Winds will be minimal out of the southwest at 5-15mph. High tide: 12:49p.m.; Low tide:7:05a.m.; Ocean temp: 39°. The weekend's looking like it'll be mostly sunny with the westerly winds returning. And, I'm excited to see that next week could bring a 60° day but that remains to be seen. 37 days until Spring!

A Winter's Morn

Mornin'! It's a winter's morn in Wildwood as clouds will be obscuring the golden sunrise. While I'm on colors...is white a color because everything's white out there. We got our "dusting" overnight; actually there's about an inch of new fallen snow covering the island. Temperature is 28° and only going up a couple degrees as the sun eventually will show itself later. Those NW winds 15-20mph are hanging around giving us a chill factor and making it brisk, cold and wintry today. Tomorrow the breeze shifts and comes from the south along with sunshine...should be a mild winter's day. Not today though. High tide:11:52a.m.; Low tide:6:05p.m.; Ocean temp: 39°. 38 days until Spring.

Bluster's outta here

Mornin'! It's 19° in Wildwood this morning. It's really tough having tidbits of Spring here and there, then be slammed with 50+ mph gusts of icy winds! This house was-a-rocking last night! Winter's only inching over and continues to relentlessly make her presence known. It's certainly wintry this morning. Those intense W-NW winds have diminshed yet we're still having 5-10mph wafts. They'll keep Wednesday cold and brisk (no more than 33°) and just like they took yesterday's clouds away...today they're blowing some back over the island. Skies are clear as sunrise is on its way in this early morning darkness. It'll be sunny most of today and by this afternoon will be cloud covered to the point of snow flurries and snow by late tonight...forecasters are saying a dusting. High tide:11:52a.m.; Low tide:5:58p.m.; Ocean temp: a balmy 40°. 39 days until Spring!

Touch of Spring is out of here and Gale has returned!

Mornin'! Weather's just the opposite of yesterday. It's currently 37° in Wildwood as the rains come down this dark early morn. Right now winds are minimal but are aimed right at the island and will be coming from the N-NW at 25-30mph with gusts of 50+mph (The Gale warnings will be out) by later this afternoon. Those winds will push out the clouds and bring with them sun with a winter chill before the sun sets. Temperatures could drop into the teens by tonight. High Tide:10:28a.m.; Low Tide:4:37p.m.; Ocean temp:40°. 40 days until Spring!
