Easter 2013

Mornin'!  It's 43° this Easter morn.  Happy Easter!  The sky is clear and blue as the sun has just risen and is shining brightly in the house.  There's a light breeze off the ocean and the smell of Spring and Sea is in the air.  Someone should bottle that fragrance if it hasn't been done already.  This loveliness will only continue to the early afternoon as rain clouds are headed in this direction and rain will begin falling and stay with us into this evening.  These lovely morning light breezes will ramp up from the S-SE at 25-30mph with gusting.  At least we'll have a ½ nice Easter Sunday...could be much worse.

Easter Egg Hunting Weather

Mornin'!  It's 39° under sunny, blue skies in Wildwood.  Lovely morning to kick off Easter weekend.  We're talking perfect Easter Egg hunting weather.   It'll be mild and sunny all day with temps heading into the mid-upper 50's.  Breezes will be light from the NW, then shift a bit from the W-NW at 5-10mph.  Looking good mostly all day right into tomorrow as the rains are due in by dinner time.  By then all the Egg hunting will be just a memory.

Good Friday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood.  The weather's been keeping a steady course this week as the mornings are clear and bright with the temps holding in the high 30's.  The horizon's looking the same as the other days too...bright, clear, colorful and readying itself for Ms. Sun's arrival.  It's looking like a beautiful Good Friday this year as it'll be clear and bright with sun all day and temps up into the 50's.  Breezes will be lighter too out of the NW at 10-15mph.  It's looking the same for Easter Weekend, at least up until Sunday night when some rain is due.  Here's to a lovely Easter Weekend at the Shore!

More of the same

Mornin'!  It's 39° in balmy Wildwood.  The horizon's begun to put on that beautiful morning display of pastels.  There's a bit of a breeze which will ramp up today from the NW at 20-25mph with a gusting here and there.  Looks like a repeat of the last couple days as Ms. Sun's checking in as the temps tap the 50° mark again.  The breezes will keep a bit of a chill in the air.  One forecast said clouds seeping in and a possibility of a shower around dusk.  No one else said that though so your guess is as good as mine.  That Full Moon is still shining brightly...rises late tonight at 9:06p.m.  Feeling romantic...a moon rise is just the ticket!

Happy Birthday Sis!

Mornin'!  It's 39° in WW.  Not much in the line of breezes at the moment.  The sky is clear, starlit, and also moonlit.  It's quite beautiful as the Full Moon is still pretty high up in the sky this early morn.  And, down below, everything is clearly visible in the early morning moon glow.  It's looking like a fairly decent Spring day at the Shore...much like yesterday.  It'll be mostly sunny with some light clouds thrown in the mix.  Winds will ramp up a bit later this morning from the W-NW at 20-25mph.  Temps will just about tap the 50° mark.  If you're reading this Sis...today's blog is dedicated to you...Happy Birthday!  There's another reason to celebrate today as I've decided it's time to try working after foot surgery and return to the office! Here's to us!

Blue Sky

Mornin'!  It's 44° in WW.  The sky is that gorgeous vivid blue that we cherish.  The sun's shining brightly.  The breezes are light from the W-NW at 10-14mph.  Temps will be hovering around the mid-40's and may even tap the 50° mark.  So much nicer today than yesterday.  I think it's that blue sky!

Rainy Days and Mondays

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood under rainy, windy conditions.  Winds are out of the E-NE at 25-30mph with gusting.  Temps will stay in the 39°-41° range creating a rain event for the island.  I see and hear there's snow around us, but so far, so good here.  We may get some snow tonight when the temps drop into the mid-30's but it's looking like a rain event for WW.  Ms. Sun's supposed to check back in tomorrow and the Full Moon's in 2 days creating some higher tides already...keep an eye on the flood water.

Somewhat Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 34° in WW.  It's a bit frosty out there as the seagulls and crows are squawking loudly in the distance.  The sky is clear and sea air is still as Ms. Sun's about to cross the horizon.  It looks like we're going to begin this day with Ms. Sun checked in until the clouds try their best to take over.  It'll be partly sunny/partly cloudy today but at the moment...bright, clear with Ms. Sun about to fill the island with some warmth.  Temps will only tap the 40's as the breezes show some diversity.  They'll begin a bit later from the NW, then shift from the N-NW, then shift again from the N-NE and again by later this afternoon from the East all at around 10mph.  Tonight...the arrival of Winter Storm Virgil which is coming from the MidWest bringing winds, rain, and snow...70% chance of arriving overnight.  Tomorrow...90% chance of stormy, wintry mix with tidal flooding.  Full moon is in a couple days...be aware of the tides.  For today...I'm thinking somewhat sunny and decent.

A Decent Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 34° this first Saturday of Spring.  It'll be just tapping the 50° mark with Ms. Sun checked in all day.  Winds will be out of the W-NW at 15-20mph most of the day as well.  Looks like a lovely chilly Spring day on the island.  Tomorrow...much of the same as we prepare for yet another coastal storm for Monday.  For today though...time to get out and about.  Mack's and Sam's Pizza are both open now!

Sunny and Cold

Mornin'!  It's 33° this crisp March morn.  The horizon's bright as it's welcoming Ms. Sun for the day.  It'll be sunny with temps maintaining their wintry status...not much higher than 41-42° today.  Winds will be blustery from the W-NW at 20-25mph.  Seems like tomorrow will be much like today unlike Sunday when the white stuff is due back.  Yesterday was a blast with thick snow squalls the entire day.  Had the new pup barking out of the doors and windows at the large flakes.  Not much hit the ground thankfully as that's where living on an island really does make the difference.  Foot's still healing as I got my first sneak preview.  Other than it doesn't look anything like my foot I have no comment.  Stitches are in for one more week and I'm to use less and less of the crutches now.  Guess I'll make it.

Second Day of Spring

Mornin'!  It's 33° in WW.  This 2nd day of Spring will feel anything but.  Although clear at the moment Ms. Sun's about to rise and will mostly likely make her presence known but the clouds will almost immediately begin to take over and bring with them...snow showers for today.  There's a 70% chance of snow today (accumulation of less than an inch) with temps staying around the mid-upper 30's.  It'll be blustery (lest not forget it is March) with winds out of the N-NW at 20-25mph.  Foot doctor appointment later this afternoon to have the stitches removed and at the moment, I'm no match for snowy, icy, slippery surfaces...should be quite interesting if these forecasters are correct.

First day of Spring

Mornin'!  It's 33° in WW.  Amazingly, it's the first day of Spring.  Guess we're on our way to milder, more pleasant weather conditions even though it's a bit wintry o'er the island.  But, a nice winters' day it will be today.  The air is calm with no breezes to write about.  The seagulls are out and about and can be heard in the distance today.  Ms. Sun's due up any moment as the sky is clear and light and the horizon's beginning the slow changes of pastels in the morning light.  It'll be sunny and crisp today with temps reaching the mid-high 40's.  Winds will ramp up a bit coming from the West at 20-25mph w/gusts.  I'd say for the most part...an "okay" day to begin Spring.  As for my foot...still on the mend but better and better each day.  Tomorrow, the stitches come out but wearing this cumbersome boot must continue for weeks.  It feels best when elevated and the last thing that comes to my mind is "go sit at the computer".  Not gonna happen except for the ol' weather blog!

I'm back

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood.  I'm back.  Not sure for how long though.  I had foot surgery on Friday and sitting at this computer is no easy feat...no pun intended.  It's been a long, hard, painful weekend.  So, let's get on with it shall we?  It's doing nothing outside right now.  It's gray and raw and quiet.  We're supposed to get snow showers this morning until the temperature rises into the low 40's and then it'll change to rain for the remainder of the day and into the night.  Winds are light but will pick up and make things colder yet coming from the E-SE at 20-25mph.

Ides of March (Julius Caeser's assasination)

Mornin'!  It's 32° under clear starlit skies.  The horizon is beginning to turn pale blue as the sunrise is due within the hour.  No breezes to write about as it's still and very quiet.  It'll be tapping the high 40's today as breezes begin to take over from the W-SW at 20-25mph this afternoon.  It'll be partly sunny/partly cloudy.  You pick.  This could be the last of any sun we'll see right up until Wednesday.  Forecasters are saying the "S" word for tomorrow.

Blustery

Mornin'!  It's 33° in WW.  The sky is partly cloudy and winds are making their presence known.  While we're on winds...they'll be out of the W-NW at 25-30mph w/gusts of 35+mph today.  It'll be a blustery one but Ms. Sun's going to do her best to keep us out of the frigid zone as temps will only be in the low-40's and clouds will hang around as well.  Typical March day but on a bright note...we're half way through it.

Rains-A-Coming!

Mornin'!  It's 49° in the Woods this morning.  No rain yet. Breezes are wifting (I mean wafting) in off the ocean (S-SE) at a decent clip along with the thick cloud cover making a nice insulator for an incredible ocean roar out there.  I can actually hear the ocean's roar loud and clear from 6 blocks away inside my tightly closed house.  This thick cloud cover is bringing with it rain later this morning and at times heavy and steady throughout the day.  Winds will become gusty at 20-25mph+ from the S-SE.  Sun will return tomorrow for a few days.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50's and although mild I'm sure the feel today will be wet, windy and raw.  Prepare accordingly.

Mixed Bag

Mornin'!  It's 39° in WW under mostly clear, starry skies.  There's a light fog insulating the island and giving the air a nice chill. The ocean's roar is very prevelent in the dark morning air. It'll be mostly cloudy today with peeks of sun as temps climb into that 50° range again.  The winds are currently light (5mph) out of the SE and will ramp up by this afternoon from the S-SE at 23-37mph.  Showers will begin late tonight into the overnite prepping us for tomorrow's forecast...rain.  No wonder my arthritis is kicking up.

Daylight Savings Sunday!

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood as this daylight savings Sunday kicks off with bright, sunny, crisp, quiet (except for the loud sounds of the surf) morning.  Hope all clocks are turned ahead an hour.  How bout yesterday huh???  It was an extraordinarily mild and warm perfect preview of Spring.  Last I heard it topped 55° with warm sun and no breezes. Today...not quite as warm (mid-upper 40's), but mostly sunny with onshore breezes (Easterly) at 10-12mph.  Waves will be kicking up at 8-9'.  Another one to be out and about enjoy the weather!

Turn the clocks tonight

Mornin'!  It's 28° in WW.  The clouds and gray have cleared out and it's brisk, clear and bright.  It's a bit breezy as winds are coming out of the North at 20-25mph. Ms. Sun's due up any moment.  It's looking like a fairly decent day at the Shore as the sun will shine all day warming us while temperatures rise into the high 40's and maybe even tapping the 50° mark.  Breezes will simmer down by noon and still be out of the North but at 9-12mph.  For some reason, the tides are still making their presence known in the streets on the island seeping in through the storm drains.  In fact, they're up now on the back bay end of the island as my street is flooded along all the curbs.   It's the sea water...don't drive through it as your vehicle won't take kindly to it.  So, how about it...we made it throught the Fall and Winter back to daylight savings time again.  Turn the clocks ahead an hour before settling down for your long winters' nap. I'm trying to type this blog today as quickly as possible as my Internet is still problematic and I can't believe that I actually have the service after 2 days without and an appt. with the tech this morning!  Happy Weekend!

Snowy Friday

today's shot is same as yesterdays
Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood.  It's windy and snow is flying around in every direction but not doing much other than laying on the lawns and vehicles.  It's cold, raw and blustery...a March day at its best.  Temps will just about reach 40° as the snow showers/flurries/squalls fly around most of the day.  There's a very slight chance we could see peeks of sun later if these clouds clear out.  Winds are blustery at 25-30mph from the N-NW and will keep at a nice "March" clip all day.   Thank you Atlantic City Electric or whomever fixed our electric and for allowing us to have heat and lights as there were many different Electrical trucks around.  Still have no internet/phone service aka Comcast, but we're trying to work through that.  Sunsets won't be as early after this weekend as daylight savings time begins.  We will be on that beach again!

Happy Birthday Ray!

5th Avenue North Wildwood facing the back bay

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood.  It's the calm after the storm.  Floods are finally receding. I'm blogging from the office as I have no electric in Wildwood where I live.  Loud explosion around 3p.m. yesterday and I'm still without heat and electric.  Thankfully, the gas is still on and I have hot water and a gas fireplace.  I want so badly to love where I live, but this is getting so old.  It's getting harder and harder living on the island.  I moved here to get away from rough winters, snowstorms, power outtages and what do I get... flooding to the point that I can't leave my home or hurricanes where I'm ordered to leave my home and more power outtages than I can count.  If this one lasts 6 days like the other one in 2009, the sale sign's going up.  My freezer and frigerator are full, my hamper's full, my diswasher's full, my candle supply is low, my grill is destroyed and I need to focus on the blog and write about the weather.  I just needed to vent.  Oh...and I'm pissed off at Atlantic City Electric right about now!
Temps are going into the low-mid 40's with winds out of the North at 20-25mph.  It'll be partly cloudy/partly sunny with a possible flurry.  Keep an eye on the tides as everything's totally saturated and swollen with some flooding still present on the island.

Stormy Weather

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood.  It's March at its best today!  The house began to twitch.  It's raining.  It's windy with 40-50mph +gusts from the East and will do several shifts.  First, from the East, then E-NE, then NE, then N-NE, then by early tomorrow...N-NW.  The island's quite blustery with rain pelting down at the moment and appears we'll sustain yet another major storm today; not to mention tidal flooding and even worse more beach erosion.  Due to the not-so-freezing cold temperature today (mid-40's), this powerful snowstorm that's traveled across the country will be a wind and rain event as it heads out to sea. Speaking of "sea", there's going to be some rough seas as 10' waves are in the forecast for today.  We just might see snow late tonight and into tomorrow morning.  But, today...major winds and rain as the coast once again gets pummeled.  Thankfully, my Wellies are nearby.

Calm before the Storm

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood.  The sky and horizon is clear and colorful as Ms. Sun's due up any moment.  The winds have finally died down.  That storm that's headed our way tomorrow still leaning towards a rain event as temps are hovering around the 40° mark both today and tomorrow.  It'll be mostly sunny today with breezes out of the NW at 10-15mph...not tomorrow though as they'll be 40-60mph gale force winds!  You've been warned.

Cold One

Mornin'!  It's 33° this breezy, cloudy morning in Wildwood.  It has that ominous look as daybreak unfolds as I type.  Doubt if we'll see a sunrise today, but will probably see a sunset later!   It'll be a cold one with Ms. Sun due in later this morning.  Temps will just tap the 40° mark and those W-NW breezes at 25-30mph are what will keep the harsh March chill circulating around us today.  Tomorrow looks sunnier and much less breezy, but Wednesday...all eyes are on yet another storm heading over the northeast.  So far every report I've read says the coast will have a rain event but the winds...oh those winds could reach 60+mph gusts.  Keeping the focus on today...not too bad - just blustery.  What else do you expect? It's March.

Ms. Sun's visit the First Saturday in March

Mornin'!  It's 35° this sunny Saturday.  Ms. Sun just rose and life is good.  No breezes to write about but it appears bright and brisk outside with a twist of sea fragrance.  I love mornings like this as somehow Spring is in the wintry air.  It's probably my subsconcious coming through as how can one live on an island and summer resort without the faint whispers of  "it's coming" now that we're in March not to mention 18 days away from the official start to Spring.  It'll be much like yesterday and tomorrow.  Sunny with N-NW breezes 15-20mph (breezier tomorrow) and blue skies with temps tapping the 40's.  A nice weekend in Wildwood to be out and about.

And So It Begins

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood.  Welcome March!  It's looking like a beautiful winter's day for the start of this historically tempermental month.  Perhaps it truly is beginning like a lamb.  I have noticed that the Spring bulbs are peeking out of the wintry gardens.  The sky is light and horizon bright as daybreak is once again upon us.  No breezes to write about but the sea is in the air.  Temps will reach the mid-40's as Ms. Sun pours down today and the next 5 days!  Breezes will commence from the NW at 15-20 today. March 20th...1st day of Spring!!!
