Blue Moon Friday

The Wall - North Wildwood, NJ
Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood.  At the moment it's completely quiet and still as dawn approaches.  The sky is clear as the sun's just about to cross the horizon.  It's looking like the weekend will be pretty a decent one; the first half anyway.  It'll begin today feeling summer-like as it'll be mostly sunny with temps just tapping the 90° mark.  Humidity will play a part in the forecast as the local forecaster is calling it hazy, hot and humid to kick off the holiday weekend.   Could be a day for the AC.  And, I'm not talking about a trip north up the coast.  Winds (when they commence) will be out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  The full moon (blue moon) Friday.  A blue moon is the 2nd full moon in one month (or 3rd full moon in one season) and we'll see that happen this evening.  You won't see it again until 2015.  Now...let's talk the holiday weekend's weather.  Tomorrow is looking like a winner with lower temps and less humidity.  Sunday...eh...less sunny with a 20% chance of Thunderstorms; Monday...40% chance.  That still could change so stay tuned.  Issac's affects will hit WW more late Monday and Tuesday now instead of checking in for the entire weekend.  Talk about dodge the bullet.  For today though...see ya at the beach!

Beach Day!

Mornin'!  It's 68° this early morn.  Sun's just about up over the horizon and will be painting the clouds right in it's path glorious tropical pastel colors.  The sea is making its presence known with it's intense fragrance seeping in the opened windows.  The gulls are quiet for some reason...sleeping in I guess.  It's going to be another beauty as the it'll be mostly sunny with temps in the low-80's as the humidity begins to slowly creep over us again.  Winds will commence later at 10-15 first from the North, then shifting by the afternoon from the South, then by evening...SW.  The weekend forecast has changed as this ol' Issac Storm is very s-l-o-w moving and will have an influence on our weather.  The rains may not reach us until Monday sometime.  So, for now...our holiday weekend's looking much better than it did. Yay I say although I'm still keep a close eye on things!  The moon will be full tomorrow and it's already having an influence our tides.  Keep that in mind when you see the streets flooding...it's "salt" water and like a card, should be dealt with; or avoided.

Lovely Hump Day!

Cape May, NJ Lighthouse
Mornin'!  It's a lovely, comfortable 69° in Wildwood.  Sunrise is due in less than a half hour and won't be obscured today as there's not a cloud in the sky.  There's a mild breeze wifting (I mean wafting) from the NE at 5-10mph and will stay the course today as temps just about tap the 80° mark with mostly cloudless skies.  It'll be a preview of the "Jewel" today. The gulls know it as they're laughing loudly with delight as I type.

Life is Good.

Otten's Harbor - Wildwood, NJ
Mornin'!  It's a muggy, humid, cloudy 75°.  I just went outside and it's not raining but it's one of those dark mornings at the shore when everything's covered in moisture.  The day will begin with cloud cover but my guess is another gorgeous nature painted sunrise as we're not having complete, full cloud cover.  We could get a spritz or two this morning, but forecasters are saying that it'll all give way to clearing and sunshine later.  Temps will be in the mid-80's with humidity hanging around as well.  Winds (there's no breezes at the moment) will be out of the SW to begin with at 10-15mph then shift from West at 15-20mph this afternoon.  One word about the West winds..."greenheads"...so, prepare accordingly.
The weekend forecast isn't looking too good at the moment so fingers are crossed as I keep a close watch.  Full Moon is Friday (8/31) and fullmoon rises are fun to watch.  It can play havoc with the tides though.  It'll be fun watching it all play out.  Life is good.

The Final Week

Mornin'!  Here we go again...the start of yet another work week.  The weeks are just flipping by this summer as we enter the last days of August.   That would mean Australia's end of winter and our days of wearing white are closing in.  It's 74° this somewhat cloudy, very humid Wildwood morn.   The sunrise is putting on a lovely show as it paints the morning clouds colorful pastels.  Temps are going up into the low-80's. Winds will be out of the South at 5-10mph.  Looks like we'll have clouds sticking around most of the day and there's a 30% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the day.  The forecasters said that yesterday and it turned out to be a sunny, warm, breezy day.  I gave up a nice beach day thinking I'd be battling the rains which never came.  But then again, there's plenty more beach days up ahead as this week's looking nice not to mention the "jewel" of the season is on the horizon as September in Wildwood has no words other than "jewel" to describe it.

Round Two

Mornin'!  It's 76° in WW under sunny skies.   It's a simply lovely morning with seabreezes wifting (I mean wafting) in all the opened windows.  And it looks like we survived the overnight storms.  Last night's thunderstorms were by far some of the worst Wildwood's had.  By 3a.m., it did quiet down but the torrents of rain and thunder and lightning were some of the most intense I've ever seen on the island.  It's a strange, quiet, sunny contrast at the moment. That is, except for the gulls which seem delirious happy as they shout their joys of survival.   Temps will reach 80° today but there's a 50% chance of more thunderstorms all throughout the day beginning later this morning.  Winds are out of the East and will stay that way at 15-20mph.

Bar Tan Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 76° in WW.  It's overcast and cloudy as the sun's trying to shine after passing the horizon a little while ago.  Actually, the sun's creating a picturesque sky again as it competes with the heavy clouds...looks nice.  Temps won't get much higher on the island as we'll just about tap 80°.  Winds are calm now out of the NE at 5-10mph, but will pick up by late morning from the E-NE at 18-20mph.  Rains are coming.  Forecasters are saying they'll be checking in my late morning.  (95% chance).  I'm thinking washout for a beach day.  And, chances are the same for tomorrow.  Great weekend for a bar tan.

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood as the sun's going to cross the horizon in a few minutes.  Looking good too as the sky is beautifully colored in shades of lovely pastels.  It's supposed to be more humid, warmer and mostly sunny today with temps reaching the low-80's. Winds will be out of the East at 5-10mph.  Tonight...10% chance of showers.  Tomorrow and Sunday...40% chance. Just saying.

Mornin'!  It's 70° this overcast, still, gray, fragrant morning in WW.  (backbay aroma overtaking the island at the moment).  Jeez...every forecast I checked this morning was different.  Very weird.  Who needs this at six in the morning?  Even the temperatures were all wrong as all the forecasts were saying sixty-something.  It's 70°...take my word for it as my back porch thermometer hasn't failed me yet.  It's going to tap the 80° mark today.  There's a 45% chance of rain this morning as occasional rain showers are in the forecast.  This afternoon should be drier as it'll be partly cloudy.  Breezes will be out of the NE initially and shift from the SE all at 10mph.

Deja Vu

Mornin'!  It's 68° this morning.  Having a bit of glitch in trying to get in gear and come alive as I'm bummed it's not Saturday.  I'm also having a Deja Vu moment as today's forecast is a repeat of yesterday; right down to the obscured sunrise in a few minutes.  So, it's the same ol', same ol'.  Slow start to the day; mix of clouds and sun; lower humidity; warm and dry; high 70's; breezes at 10mph from the NE then SE.  Thursday & Friday...more clouds than sun as we head into what looks like a pretty awesome weekend including the year anniversary of Hurricane Irene and reflecting on the evacuation of the entire Cape May County.

Tuesday Mix Bag

Mornin'!  It's 68° this early morn in WW.  It's starting out a bit overcast and gray as the sun is due in about 15minutes.  Not sure about catching a nice sunrise this morning.  We'll have a mix of clouds and sun today with a slight chance (20%) of showers later this afternoon.  Breezes haven't checked in yet today, but will eventually wift (I mean waft) out of the SE at 10mph.  It'll continue to be less humid and comfortably warm and in the upper 70's.

Week of Cloud Cover

2nd & JFK in North Wildwood, NJ
Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood this early, gray morn.  Doubt if we'll see the sun this morning or any morning this week for that matter.  The forecast for this entire week is leaning toward a cloudy, overcast and gray one.  At least up until Friday and the weekend when it'll be mostly sunny.  Today won't be a washout, but my bets are on anything but a beach day. (You can always take a walk along the beach or beach Wall.)  It'll be mostly cloudy with some occasional peeks of sun but mostly overcast.  Showers are forecasted this afternoon including a rumble or two of thunder.  No severe weather, but it's definitely leaning toward a WalMart day.  Temps will be in the mid-70 range and breezes out of the East at 5-10mph.

2nd Half

Mornin'!  It's 72° this sunny, still, fragrant morn.  Lot's of sea aroma in the air this morning.  It's going to be a nice one this second half of the weekend as there will be less humidity, partly sunny skies, temps in the low-mid 80's and light breezes at 10mph...first from the North, then shifting this afternoon from the SE...ahhh!  I'm thinking beach day.  Oh...let's not forget to take your trash and cigarette butts with you!

1st Half

Mornin'!  It's 64° in WW.  That's not a typo.  AC's off.  Breezes are cool and refreshing in the opened windows.  It's feeling a bit like a 1st day of school.  Rained overnight and as we dry out, it remains unsettled out there.  There's a slow moving cold front which will be leaving the coast last.  There's a chance of showers right up into the afternoon.  (In other words, Philly will have sun and we won't).  It's all good though as with these gray skies at the moment, the sun's doing everything in its power to show it's self and making the gray seem bright and will eventually be shining later today.  Temps will rise into the mid-high 70's.  Breezes are out of the NW and will shift later from the NE all at 10-15mph.  A little dryer and sunnier for the 2nd half of the weekend.

Smarter Travel

February Storm - 2010 - Wildwood Boardwalk
Mornin'!  It's 74°.  The sun's up.  The sky is clear.  There's no breezes to write about.  All is well.  Temps will rise up into the low-mid 80's with breezes checking in from the SW at 10-15mph.  It'll mostly sunny for the start of the day.  Humidity will begin to rise.  The clouds will begin to increase as it'll become partly sunny/partly cloudy.  Rain is checking in tonight and may stay overnight right into Sunday.  The Wildwoods have received a major honor this month as the Wildwoods Boardwalk was named as one of “America’s Best Boardwalks” by Smarter Travel. According to SmarterTravel.com, the nationally-recognized Wildwoods Boardwalk was included on the list for its “two miles of neon lights and thrills… Adding to the back-in-time feel are the 1950s and '60s Do-Wop-era motels that surround the area with their Vegas-like signs and unusual, themed architecture, amusement piers, amusement rides, attractions, water parks, arcades and great eateries including salt water taffy, curly fries, funnel cake and some of the best pizza in the country.  Just saying.

TGIF or TGIT!

Mornin'!  It's 72° this early morn in Wildwood.  Sun's just about up and will not be obscured today as skies are clear.  No breezes to blog about but will eventually kick in at about 10-12mph later from the NW-W.  One word for those breezes..."Greenheads" and now you've been warned so I'd carry my insect spray.  And, look at it this way...could be "Yellow Jackets". We'll have plenty of sun as today is the "pick of the week" with temps in the mid-upper 80's.  The weekend's looking "unsettled" (forecasters words not mine) though as humidity will be creeping back up and creating that increased chance of stormy weather.  Today though...beach day for sure!  TGIF as it's my Friday since I have a long weekend ahead beginning tomorrow!

Assumption

Mornin'!  It's 73° in WW this August 15th.  Skies look much like yesterday morn...a bit dark pink/light red haze/fog.  Feels damp out...humidity's ramping up as the temps head back into the low-mid 80's.  The foggy/hazy start should burn off as the sun rises.  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun today.  There's that continued chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon some of which could be severe. (Nothing ever happened in Wildwood yesterday).Winds will be out of the SW at 8-12 then shift from the W-NW later.  I'm assuming it'll be a repeat of yesterday. Not sure what I'd do today if I was off.  Decisions.  Decisions.

Change-a-coming

"The Wharf" in Wildwood, NJ

Mornin'!  It's 73° in WW.  The sky is reddish (not a real good sign) as "red sky in the morning, sailors take warning" is still taken seriously.  The sun's just crossed the partly cloudy horizon as the temps go up into the low-80's today with a 50% chance of scattered showers beginning later this morning/early afternoon and that's including a thunderstorm or two thrown in the mix.  Winds are zero at the moment but will ramp up out of the South at a breezy 3-4 mph.  They'll shift a bit later from the SE-SSE at 5-7mph.  I'm placing bets on the morning for a couple hours of beach time if you need a fix.  Otherwise...it's to Ross or a Movie and there's always that Bar Tan to be worked on and you know who I'm talking to.

Bill Withers is back

A Cape May Canal Home
Mornin'!  It's 71° this lovely morning.  It's gonna be a "Lovely Day" as the Bill Withers tune floats around in my head.  The humidity's dropped back and has allow some loveliness to surround us.  The gulls are enjoying it as their laughing with delight as the sun's just about over the horizon.  It'll be sunny, less humid with temps in the low-mid 80's with minimal breezes.  N-NW breezes begin later this morning (there's not one breeze at the moment) at 5-10mph; then will shift in the afternoon from the South...a Lovely Day!

more 50-50

Otten's Harbor, Wildwood NJ
Mornin'!  It's 75° in WW.  The sun's doing everything in its power to ward off the cloud cover.  One second there's sun pouring in the front windows; the next moment...gray and ominous out there.  The breeze is light as it's dry but humid.  Isn't that a contraction?  Forecasters are all pointing to a gray, mostly cloudy day with chance of showers and even some thunderstorms thrown in the mix today.  This 50/50 weekend (1/2 humid, t-storm chances, 1/2 partly sunny, drier, comfier) will be checked in all day today. Saturday's highs in the low to mid 80s...and hopefully our last humid day for awhile. Breezes out of the SW at 15mph.  So slower frontal passage lingers as thunderstorms are possible all day Saturday, with lingering clouds/humidity.  Saturday night equals less than ideal meteor viewing (The 2012 Perseids are here). http://www.spacedex.com/perseids/
Sunday: Partly sunny skies(initially had abundant sunshine as the forecast). Drier and turning less humid...highs in the mid 80s for the North Wildwood Kennedy Blvd. Flea Market!

Another 50/50 weekend approaching

Mornin'!  It's 76° this early  morn.  There's a little breeze out of the SW at 10-15mph with clear, starlit skies.  Sun should be crossing the ol' horizon within the hour bringing some lovely colors in the sky.  Enjoy as it'll all turn dark and dreary as today progresses.  Forecasters are saying that today will be partly-mostly cloudy with breaks of sunshine in the haze right up until the rains begin later.  Should hold around low-mid 80's. By late this afternoon/early evening, the rains will begin and bring along some heavy downpours and even thunderstorms.  It's suppose to continue throughout the night and into tomorrow with periodic peeks of sun through a gray Saturday.  Sunday...a wee bit cooler, sunny and less humid.  Nice one for the North Wildwood Giant Flea Market!  Winds will pick up later out of the S-SE at 20+mph.

Mornin'!  It's 74° in the Woods.  There's lightning and thunder in the early morning, cloudy skies.  It's feeling a little electric out there with the strobes of lightning coming through the darkness.  The doppler is showing an intense weather system headed right this way over the Delaware Bay. http://1.usa.gov/9nqEc0
You've been warned...so take cover.  There's a chance of these bad boys popping up all throughout the day today as it'll be mostly cloudy with peeks of sun thrown in the mix.  Humidity's back on the rise as temps will stick around the mid-80's with breezes out of the S-SE at 5-10mph. I'm thinking a little shopping today or perhaps a movie.

Pick of the Week

Mornin'!  It's 74° in WW this early morn.  Sun's heading over the horizon as I hit the keys.  The sky is lightening and looks lovely with all sorts of pastel colors.  Today's being forecasted as the "Pick of the Week" as humidity's down a bit (I was just outside and it still seems thick and heavy to me) as temps will be in the low-mid 80's instead of up there in the 90+ heat-wave temps. Breezes are zero at the moment but will commence later this morning from the NE then shift from the SE all at 5-10mph.  Beginning tomorrow...another heatwave is being mentioned and by the end of the week those pesky thunderstorms will be hovering around.  The weekend's looking halfway decent.  For today though...I'm going with "beach day".

Thunderstorm Threats

Mornin'!  It's a balmy 78° this gray, dripping morn.  Everything's wet and while standing outside I can hear drips all around me but I honestly can't tell if it's spritzing or not.  Seems it.  One thing's for sure...it's humid as a humidor.  Forecast is mostly cloudy with a threat of Thunderstorms all throughout the morning and early afternoon, then possible peeks of sun.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 80's with high humidity.  No breezes at the moment but they'll begin from the West; then the NW; then by dinner...SW all at 15-20mph.  Decisions, decisions...WalMart or the Beach?

Sunny Start to Sunday

Mornin'!  Happy Sunday!  It's 79° this sunny, breezy morning (same as the incredible ocean temperature).  It's going up into the high 80's and I wouldn't be surprised to see the mercury hit the 90° mark this afternoon.  It's going to be hazy, hot and humid again with clouds increasing as the day progresses.  There's a chance of a brief shower today as well.  Let's talk "tonight" though...later this evening and into the overnight...heavy showers and possible thunderstorms with strong winds heading our way.  Remains to be seen, but take heed before turning in.  You may want to secure the trash/recycle can lids, take the towels and suits off the line, remove hanging flower baskets, patio umbrellas, flags or whatever may take a high tail for the Sea.  Winds will pick up later from the S-SW at 15-20mph as they're much calmer at the moment.   Keep your eye on the sky or better yet...that doppler if heading to the beach...see you there!

The Heat Is On!

No Caption Needed
Mornin'!  It's 74° this hazy, warm and humid morn.  No breezes.  It's going up into the high 80's and possibly just tapping the 90° mark.  "The Heat Is On"...I can hear that Glen Frey song in the my head this morning.  "Tell me can you feel it; tell me can you feel it; oh-u-oh-oh, oh-u-oh-oh."  Back to the weather...I'm getting caught up in the music this morning.  It'll be mostly sunny today under humid haze.  There's a 30% chance of a pop-up thunderstorm and a 40% chance tomorrow so you know the drill...keep your eye on the sky and take cover especially if on the beach unlike some folks this week.  Winds will eventually begin blowing across the island later this morning from the South at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking alot like today as the Heat Is On along with the possibility of pop-up storms in the mix.  The moon is still on the full side and will make for higher than normal tides.  Not a good idea to drive through tidewater.

Full Moon Thursday

6th & Ocean Aves. in North Wildwood 8/1/12
Mass exodus with a storm approaching
Mornin'!  It's 73° in WW.  Sun's up and once again under morning clouds.  Humidity's up too as everything outside seems damp and even the air feels wet.  It'll be mostly sunny today with hazy skies, temps of mid-upper 80's and humidity which is laying the ground work for the next heatwave we're about to undertake. Yuk. No breezes at the moment but they'll come later this morning from the N-NW first; then S-SE and by this early evening from the South all at 5-10mph.  The forecasters I've checked are all saying no rain showers/thunderstorms today.  (Wildwood received almost an .75 inches of rain in 20 minutes yesterday with an afternoon storm/downpour.) I guess their prediction remains to be seen but keep that eye on the sky.  Especially if heading to the beach.  Play it smart and get off the beach if the sky begins to take a turn even before looking ominous.  Use those ol' smartphones and watch the doppler.  If you haven't heard already...4 people were injured by lightning in Wildwood yesterday when a storm was approaching.  They obviously ignored any warnings.  Makes going to the beach more exciting I must say.  Storms or not, today's Full Moon will play a bit of havoc with the tides and flooding in the streets.  Try not to drive through tide/flood water if navigating the island if you come across salt/sea water seeping onto the streets.

Mornin'!  It's 74° this lovely first day of August. We're in the dog days of summer now as we head into another sultry hot spell beginning in a day or two.  Today...not so sultry as the temps will be in the low-mid 80's.  It'll be mostly hazy and humid with typical summer temperatures.  The sun just rose, but is a bit obscured by clouds.  There's a 30% chance of thunderstorms and/or showers today.  Outdoor activities may have to be planned around the clouds today. The Moon is looking just about Full as that's on tap for tomorrow.  Breezes will be out of the South today at 10mph.  Two things: keep one eye on the sky for those storms/showers and the other eye on the flooded streets.  (Do your best Marty Feldman).  That water you see seeping into the streets along the curbs and sidewalks is tide/salt water and damaging to the underside of your vehicle. My advice...don't drive through it if you can help it.  See you at WalMart!
