Cherrio April!

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ. Adios April!  Returned home yesterday afternoon from a fun weekend with our youngest daughter and her family. I'm having withdraw from her two little ones as I type.  Since she lives in the Levittown area of Pennsylvania, it was a treat to be in a woodland environment hearing many various kinds birds chirping and singing (other than seagulls). And, then the fresh Spring aromas of all the new growth on trees, plants and lawns full of thick, bright green blades of grass was overwhelming at times.  I truly enjoyed just taking it all in but more importantly, sharing it with my little ones.  The weather was sunny and in the low 70s there and felt much more Springlike than here.  On the drive home, once through the Port Elizabeth area of the Pinelands on Rt. 47 you begin to pick up aromas of the briny, salty marsh and it makes my heart even happier.  I love breathing in the seashore.  Leaving it only makes me appreciate it more.  And now we're up for a very lovely first week of May along the coast.  Each day this week the temperature will go a bit higher with plenty of sunshine on the weather menu.  We just might get into the low 70s!  For now...it's clear and moonlit with Ms Sun about to cross the horizon.  It's breezy with winds out of the West at 16-22mph.  There's a little bite in the air (windchill: 41°).  It'll be mostly sunny and breezy today with temps in the upper 50s / low 60s.  Breezes will be out of the W-NW at 18-22mph.  In fact, there's a "red flag warning" posted for our area.  It means a couple of things...small craft advisory if you planned on putting your vessel in the drink and more importantly...the risk of fires due to the dry, windy conditions.  Precautionary preparedness should be taken (watch those cigarette butts).  Tonight...clear and moonlit with temps in the upper 40s / low 50s and breezes still out of the W-NW at 13-18mph.  Tomorrow...a bit warmer and less breezy.  May is going to be very sweet to us as she begins her duty of providing us a real taste of Spring.  Until next year April ~ Godspeed!

Mostly Gray TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with winds out of the NE at 5-8mph.  I can hear the rumble of thunder in the distance so I'm bracing for a nice morning thunderstorm while I blog.  It's gonna to be a somewhat moist day with rain coming down (90% chance) with a chance of a thunderstorm at least until early afternoon. Ms Sun's not going away that easily as she could be peeking through any way she can and we just might see her by late morning or midday. Temps will be in the mid-50s with winds out of the E-NE at 8-12mph.  Tonight... rains should be outta here as it'll be partly cloudy,  peeks of that almost full moon, temps in the low 50s and breezes out of the N-NW at 4-8mph.  If we do get heavy downpours...keep an eye on those high tides as the full moon is this weekend and brings with it much higher than normal tides.  Mix that with rain...you've got tidal flooding.  Never drive through corrosive flood waters!
A little later today I'm heading off the island and away from the lovely salt air to my ol' stomping grounds and spending a couple days with my youngest daughter and her family. Not before heading over to Sam's Pizza to pick up a pie to take to our daughter (her favorite boardwalk pizza; mine is Macks).  I can't wait to see everyone especially our newest addition (our little 2 month old granddaughter Lana) as she needs to be in my arms.  I'm jonesin' big time for some infant cuddles not to mention hang with my 4-year-old grandson who never ceases to fill my heart with love.  So, this weekend's blog will all be right here in today's entry as I take a weather hiatus.  It's pretty cut and dry with nothing intense happening in the weather department this weekend...except for more of that easing into Spring phase as we're able to truly let go of the winter clothes and get outdoors and enjoy some glorious weather.  It's gonna be a nice (somewhat cool) weekend.  You can always click on "Wunderground" under my Personal Favs if you want minute-by-minute weather. Just type in Wildwood NJ or 08260.
So here's some weekend stuff...
Saturday...there could be a shower from the overnight (45% chance) but it will mostly sunny (some clouds in the mix) with temps in the low 60s.  Breezes will be out of the S-SW at 8-13mph.
Sunday...Full Moon day.  Another sunny day but a bit cooler and breezy with temps in the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the NW at 15-20mph.
The Full Moonrise on Sunday is 7:32p.m. and it's a real treat to see it come over the ocean's horizon at twilight. Conditions look good too.  If you're lucky enough to be on the beach to check it out, it's pretty awe-inspiring.  As the sky grows beautifully pastel then darkens, the Moon rises and grows brighter.  When it becomes super bright just over the horizon, it shines in the dark sky and begins to reflect its brightness on the ocean.
It's pretty cool.
The entire upcoming week's weather looks like a keeper with Spring on board.  Expect abundant sunshine and temps warmer than we've been accustomed to...low-mid 60s.  It's right around the corner! And, I'll see ya on the other side!

Lovely Spring Day

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly clear with Ms Sun just passing over the horizon.  The island's brightening as I type.  We had a very nice April showering overnight as everything's been drenched and watered.  The pollen is everywhere.  This time of year can be messy looking at times...but this too shall pass.  One thing we had yesterday was fog along with a great bike ride on the boardwalk before dinner in all the misty vapor.  The tops of the ferris wheel and roller coasters were completely obscured.  Very cool.  Not now though as the sunshine's already pouring down with breezes out of the N-NW 20-30mph.  With these 50° temps...it's feeling Spring-like outside this morning.  The neighborhood seagulls are displaying their pleasure that's for sure.  It'll be a pleasant Spring day down the shore with temps in the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the W-NW at 15-20mph and mostly sunny (some clouds in the mix) conditions.  Tonight...clouds really begin to filter in and take over as preparation begins for a 30% chance of rain showers, temps in the upper 40s / low 50s and breezes out of the S-SW at  4-8mph.  It's leading to a rainy day tomorrow but the weekend's still holding on as mostly sunny and mild.

Hump Day Gloomies

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  I'm back to getting a good night's sleep as today's blog entry will be a bit more on a retiree's schedule.  Retirement's going very well by the way.  It's almost 4 months now and I still feel like pinching myself especially when I don't have to think about work.  At all.  I do think it became almost an obsession with that the ol' work element/ethic inside me being all-consuming more often than not.  It's really an extraordinary gift to be free of someone else's expectations and have my own time to myself and live down the shore to boot.  Even when this wintry weather won't let go, I'm loving the slow motion of life's flow. I've never anticipated summer/vacation weather like this before either.  Who knows what this summer and autumn (the jewel of all the seasons along the coast) will bring as I am now truly able to take "do what I want" full advantage of living here.  Things are beginning to happen to kick off the 2018 season bringing the excitement level up a notch. The beach is getting raked (great fragrance), shops are opening, good restaurants and fun dockside bars are getting ready to open (some are now open on weekends), my sandchairs are out of storage, my leafy green seedlings are almost 2" high already, my new canvas porch awnings are coming, my outdoor shower is ready!  When I moved here 14 years ago, I did envision this.  God willing, I'm on the precipice of having off from work for the next 6+ months!  Life is good.
It's currently..gray, on the foggy side, misty and wet with winds thrown in (E-SE 15-20mph).  The ocean's whitewater is roaring big time (I can hear it loud and clear from 6+ blocks away).  It's raining lightly at the moment.  Overnight we had some nice rounds of rain showers.  Nothing too major but everything got a good watering.  There's a 70% chance of showers off and on all day today.  Temps should be around the mid-upper 50s with those blasted SE winds howling around at 10-20mph + gusting (30+mph).  One forecast did mention peeks of sun off and on this afternoon (that's my bet). And, another mentioned that those after 2p.m. rains that are on the forecast could be heavy and involve a thunderstorm or two.  We're heading into a full moon this coming weekend and the tides could be on the higher than normal side so just be aware of that.  Tonight...showers (30% chance) with temps in the upper 40s / low 50s and SE winds at 10-12mph.  Tomorrow...now that's what I'm talking about...sunny and mid-60s!  Oh...the weekend so far looks good too...sunny and mild!

Partly Sunny - Partly Cloudy

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.   Another one of those early starts to the day as I have no idea why my brain just wakes earlier than I'd like it to.  I got right on to the weather though stepping outside to check on conditions.  It's fragrant with the salty, briny ocean smell.  It's clear and crisp with stars twinkling and the moon shining out of the darkness.  It's on its way to being full as the Full Moon is this Sunday.  For some reason, the ocean's roar is very loud and clear this early morn.  It's usually this loud when the island's encased in cloud cover.  Not this morning though. Guess it's the way the breezes are directed wafting lightly out of the E-SE at 5-8mph.  Expect clouds to roll in a bit later as it'll be a partly sunny / partly cloudy day with a 30% chance of rain showers late this afternoon / early evening.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s with Easterly winds at 10-20mph as gusting will be in the mix.  Tonight...wet and raw with rain (90% chance) and patchy fog.  Temps in the upper 40s / low 50s.  Those Easterly winds at 18-20mph +gusts of 30mph are checking in too.  Tomorrow begins and ends with rain as we probably won't see sunshine until Thursday.

Sunny Monday

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun just rose over the horizon as she begins the start of a fresh new week providing plenty of sunshine today.  It's crisp and a bit chilly out there this morning but still and quiet except for the neighborhood seagulls yapping.  It's got a pinch of Spring in the morning sea air and it's lovely.  It's coming I can feel it!  It'll be pleasant today with temps in the mid-50s and breezes out of the SE at 6-10mph.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps in the upper 40s and breezes out of the SE at 6-8mph.  Tomorrow...clouds will be predominant as a rainy system is headed our way by tomorrow night and will stay checked in until Thursday.

Earth Day

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun just rose over the horizon.  There's not a cloud in the sky.  No breezes to note. It's aromatic with that seashore brininess hitting the senses the moment you step outside.  It's quiet except for happy seagulls in the neighborhood laughing hysterically at something.  I know they're probably not laughing but it makes me happy thinking they could be.  Yesterday we had a group on my corner who were arguing over a bag of chips. In fact, the bag of chips was still inside a plastic grocery bag!  One of them knew how to shake the bags upside down so any remaining crumbs created a seagull "chow time" screeching rumble.  I headed to the corner to relieve them of their tensions and removed the double bag before it hit the harbor.  Happy Earth Day!  In honor of Earth day...if you see any trash today...pick it up.   It'll be a pleasant day with sunshine, breezes out of the E-SE at 5-9mph and temps in the low 50s.  Tonight...clear with the Lyrid meteor shower upon us (overnight into the early morning), temps in the mid-40s and breezes out of the South at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...a repeat of today!

Lovely Saturday!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit with no breezes to note.  It feels cold and crisp but without those stiff winds or windchills.  It doesn't feel that wintry this morning.  The horizon's beginning to lighten ever so slightly.  It'll be a nice one today as it'll be mostly sunny with temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Breezes will commence a bit later and will be light throughout today and tomorrow.  Today they'll be wifting (wafting) in from the W-NW at 5-10mph and tonight switch direction from the W-SW at 8-10mph.  Speaking of tonight...more clouds roll in as it'll be mostly cloudy with temps in the low 40s.  Tomorrow and Monday...pretty much a repeat of today so get out and enjoy!  Oh...forgot to mention that being Earth Day tomorrow all the municipalities on the island are celebrating by having beach clean-up (beach sweeps) this morning.  North Wildwood: 16th Ave. and the Beach, Wildwood: Poplar Ave. and the Beach and Wildwood Crest: Centennial Park and the beach  for the annual beach sweep.  Bring your gloves and hit the beach for some clean-up and trash pick-up time.

TGIF And, still trying to enjoy Spring!

Mornin'!  It's 39° (no typo) in Wildwood NJ this morning.  I slept in a bit and made up for the hours I lost the night before.  Woke to Ms Sun pouring in as I forgot to close those ol' room darkening curtains.  Feels great to be alive especially waking to the seashore sun on your face!  When I went out on to the back porch to check the outdoor thermometer, it truly felt like a winter morning.  Even though the sun is shining in the cloudless, bright blue sky, the winds are also blowing and howling..out of the North at 20-25mph giving us a 29° windchill.  With that bite in the air and my little seedlings covered once again for the overnight, they seem to be taking on this wintry weather head-on and making it through with no problems.  It'll be a sunny (a spattering of clouds), blustery day today with temps in the low 50s and winds out of the W-NW at 17-20mph.  Tonight...temps in the mid-40s with winds out of the NW at 7-10mph and clear, starlit skies.  The weekend's looking much like today with Saturday having some clouds in the mix.  For the most part...I guess we're headed in the right direction.  I keep thinking that it feels like we're heading into Winter as Spring seems to be having a challenge this year.

Gale Warnings Posted Today

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  This one's a bit early due to waking early for no apparent reason.  We're under thick cloud cover this early morning with breezes out of the East at 10-15mph.  The ocean's roar is loud and clear when stepping out the back door onto the porch.  It's neat how the clouds insulate that sound so well.  Today's weather will be a mix of things.  It'll be mostly cloudy as we'll be lucky to see peeks of sun.  My guess is we will see Ms Sun somehow get through the cloud cover off and on.  You never know...these heavy clouds can be pushed aside from time to time by the winds and sun and we can only hope.  Temps will barely tap 50° with breezes coming over the island first from the West, then W-NW, then NW as a gale warning is posted from 2p.m. this afternoon until tomorrow morning.  Winds will ramp up this afternoon at 25-30mph out of the NW and give us some leftover March ambiance.  There's also a 20% chance of a shower today. It's definitely sweater-weather.  Tonight...partly cloudy and windy (NW 20-30mph) with temps in the low 40s.  Tomorrow looks like a sunny, but a blustery day with tad warmer temps. The weekend...sunny and much calmer breezes with temps still barely tapping 50°.

Spring's Back (I think)

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are very light out of the N-NW at 4-6mph.  It feels like we're getting some peeks of Winter rather than those warmish Spring mornings that we've been recently experiencing.  No frost out there but it feels like there could be with that wintry bite in the air. At least the birds are chirping and making it sound a bit Spring-like. The seagulls are in the distance too squawking and laughing making those seashore/island sounds. It smells nice with that briny fragrance of the sea in the air.  Ms Sun's up as she just rose only minutes ago.  It'll be a pleasant Spring day with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Breezes will be out of the West at 13-16mph. Tonight...some clouds filter in as temps drop down into the low-mid 40s with breezes out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...pretty much the same as today with a bit more clouds and breezes in the mix.  As for the weekend...so far it's looking dry but mostly cloudy on Saturday and sunny and pleasant for Sunday.

Some Sun / Some Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  I woke to the sun shining through the cracks of my dark curtains this morning. Man, that was a good feeling after what seems like many mornings of dark, gray, cloud cover.  Today though...sun breaking through, yet feeling cold and crisp but with hardly a breeze (N-NW 6-8mph).  There's cloud cover out there but at the moment, Ms Sun is stealing the show.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps tapping 50° and breezes ramping up out of the West at 18-24mph.  Clouds begin to take over this afternoon.  No rain is expected.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low 40s and breezes out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow...even more sunshine with less cloud cover than today with temps around 10° warmer than what they'll be today!  It's coming!  It's coming!

Miserable Monday

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some crazy, crapola weather happening out there.  It's been happening since yesterday and will continue to be all day into tomorrow.  First off...it's raining...heavily at the moment.  No flooding or flood sirens yet but I'm sure we'll hear them like we did last night. It was a rough wet-windy weather day here yesterday beginning in the afternoon and continuing right to the moment.  High tide is in a few hours (9a.m.) so be aware if you're traversing around the islands. Using New Jersey Avenue is always your best bet when trying to avoid flood waters.  Also, keep in mind Wildwood's entrance to the island at Rio Grande Avenue floods all the time and subsequently it's at the base of the bridge.  So, getting on and off the island...you guessed it...can be a no-go as it gets closed off and you're s#%@ out of luck trying to enter or exit the island when it's one of those days like today.  North Wildwood's entrance/exit is the way to go.  Anyway...we're hunkered down and listening to what's happening out there as we're currently in the midst of a heavy, driving downpour and add to that the incredible S-SE winds at 30-35mph +gusting and you have yourself a "Hazardous Weather", "Coastal Flood Warning" and "A Special Marine Warning" posted.  It's actually very intense at the moment.  Today...expect periodic showers and possible thunderstorms with heavy winds.  Some storms could be severe as those winds (hopefully) calming down sometime later today (late afternoon/early evening) will be from the SW at 20-25mph.  Wind gusts could be as high as 45mph today so batten down the hatches.  It'll feel cold as temps are expected to drop to the upper 40s.  There was one forecast which posted "peeks of sun" throughout the day as this storm breaks apart driving itself North.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with rain showers off and on as temps drop even more...low 40s with winds simmering down out of the West at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...20% chance of rain with some clearing and some peeks of sun.  Temps will be in the upper 40s / low 50s.

Stormy Sunday

Mornin'!  I've always had a fascination with the ocean liner... Titantic and this date brings the story back of it's sinking in the Atlantic 106 years ago. Over 1500 souls were taken in that horrific tragedy. The ocean temp was 28°.  I try to imagine but I can't.
It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and windy (E-NE at 17-23mph) and already feels cold and raw out there. No rain yet.  Expect patchy fog and drizzle with a chance of rain showers this morning.  Steady, soaking rain is on today's weather menu (60% chance) with temps barely tapping 50°.  The winds will be out of the NE at 20-25mph.  Tonight...upper 40s / low 50s with rain (80% chance) and possibly heavy rainfall and damaging winds.  We could even see a thunderstorm. This weather system stays here throughout tomorrow, unfortunately.  The New Moon is today...remember those higher than usual tides.  And, as for homemade soup...I got some lovely peppers in (yellow, orange, green, red) for some roasted pepper soup today!

Pleasant Spring Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with Ms Sun rising over the horizon as I type.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 12-18mph.  It'll be a pleasant Spring day here along the coast.  Expect plenty of sunshine with temps heading into the low-mid 60s with a bit of a breezy day with winds from the S-SW at 18-20mph.  Tonight...increasing clouds with temps in the low 50s and breezes out of the SE at 18-22mph.  The rain will be checking in on the overnight with winds ramping up and temps dropping.  After today's weather pleasantries, tomorrow's going to feel miserable...wet, windy and what-the-hell. Just saying.

Friday the 13th

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under some cloud cover at the moment but they should be completely out of here by later this morning.  No breezes or winds to note unlike yesterday afternoon and last night which were rip-roaring.  Happy Friday the 13th!  It's the first of 2 this year...next one's in July. Sometimes there are 3 per year.  Just an FYI for those who worry themselves sick over the dire possibilities of what today's date unleashes as it's thought to be cursed somehow.  As for weather...it seems that today won't be jinxed at all.  Maybe a bit breezy but it'll be a lovely Spring day here down the Shore.  Expect plenty of sunshine with temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the SW at 15-18mph.  Tonight...a little breezier (S-SW at 18-20mph) with clear skies and temps right around where they are now...mid 50s.  Tomorrow...sunny with temps in the low-60s and breezes out of the South at 18-20mph.  Sunday..."a homemade soup kind of day" with clouds, rains, winds, raw and chilly with a high of 50°.  Tomorrow's the New Moon so keep aware of tidewater which will be considerably higher than normal and that includes Sunday with rain added to that tidewater.  Oh...here's some weather news from yesterday...The World Meteorological Organization announced that due to death and destruction these 4 names have been retired from the Hurricane Name List...Harvey, Irma, Maria and Nate.  There's a 6 year rotating list of names used for Hurricanes and those 4 are off the list forever.  The replacement names will be Harold, Idalia, Margot and Nigel.

Thursday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under cloud cover as Ms Sun is obscured for her grand entrance this morning.  No breezes to note.  Everything's going to change though. First...we will see the sun as it'll be breaking through these morning clouds and shine off and on throughout the day right into dusk and the sunset.  Temps will climb up into the mid-upper 50s as winds begin to ramp up.  By late this afternoon...the clouds will still be trying to take over as winds enter the scene...first S-SW then South at 25-30mph.  Tonight...temps drop back into the mid-upper 40s as it'll remain partly cloudy and windy with SW winds at 25-30mph.  The weekend's still looking 50/50 with Saturday being the nicer of the two days with sunshine and temps in the mid-60s as well as windy conditions.  Saturday night...rain checks in for a couple days.

Spring is Back!

North Wildwood's Municipal Building's Grounds
Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a clear, crisp morn with stars twinkling and no breezes to note.  It'll be another pleasant, sunny day down the shore with bright, vivid, blue skies and breezes commencing out of the N-NE at 5-8mph with temps tapping 50°.  Afternoon breezes switch to the W-SW at 3-5mph and by this evening, switch again from the South at 14-18mph as the temp drops down into the low 40s.  It'll be clear and starlit tonight.  Tomorrow...warmer temps but blustery winds check-in and will be in the 20-30mph range.  In fact those blustery winds will be staying checked in for about the next five days. The Philly weather forecasters have been reporting that Saturday will bring the first summery 80° day of the season but that's Philadelphia.  It's not happening here down the shore.  It'll be a blustery/very windy weekend with temps just barely tapping 60°.  Prepare accordingly if planning a visit to the coast.  Sunday's looking like wind along with rain at this point.  Oh, there's a "new" moon this weekend as the tides will be much higher than usual.  Today though...I'd say "a keeper" as it'll finally feel like a pleasant Spring day!

Clouds Giving Way!

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with no breezes to note.  By the looks of things, it appears we had some rain showers or major fog/mist as everything's wet and drippy.  At the moment...just clouds and quiet and of course the sounds of the ocean waves crashing the coast in the background.  Thankfully, it'll feel much warmer today as clouds will give way to Ms Sun as she's scheduled to return by late morning - midday and she'll certainly warm things up after these couple of gray, damp days. Plus, temps will be warmer hovering around the 50° mark.  Breezes will be light out of the NW at 10-12mph.  Tonight...clear with temps around where they are now with breezes out of the N-NW at 10-12mph.  Tomorrow...pretty much the same as today.  Maybe Spring is really upon us now!

Mostly Gray Monday

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  Wildwood's under cloud cover as Ms Sun just rose when I began typing but we'll probably not see her at all today.  It feels a tiny bit nippy out there this morning.  Not much in breezes (NE 3-5mph) making it feel borderline Spring-like.  It's quiet with those insulating clouds creating a sound insulator as those "way off in the distant" waves crashing can be heard if you take a minute to listen. When I first moved here being a city girl and forever hearing some sort of traffic in the distance, I always thought that I could hear highway traffic somewhere here on the island.  There is no traffic 8 months out of the year and that sound out there this morning is the ceaseless roar of the ocean waves.  I can only hear it when we've got these conditions... thick cloud cover along with no breezes.  Living on the opposite west-side of the island (bayside), I normally don't have the privilege of hearing the trance-inducing sound of the surf like the beachfront properties.  So, with all the clouds out there this morning...I'm enjoying this chilly, gray weather first thing this morning with some beachfront sounds!  It'll be a mostly gray, still day with clouds staying pretty much checked in.  We may seeks peeks of sun but expect a mostly gray day with 15% chance of precipitation.  Temps will tap the low 40s with breezes commencing first out of the NE (this morning) and switching by mid-day from the East at 6-8mph and then again tonight from the SE at 9-11mph.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with 20% chance of precipitation and temps in the upper 30s.  Tomorrow...much of same as the clouds aren't going anywhere and the chance of precipitation goes up to a 45% chance with temps closer to the 50s.  Ms Sun will find her way and somehow break through and peek in by tomorrow afternoon.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's breezy (North at 18-23mph) and feels like 27° with the windchill.  We've got plenty of cloud cover as it's gray with no beautiful sunrise in sight.  Oh, we never got any snow at all with all that week-long weather forecast hype coming at us from every direction.  It does feel like a cold, February morning stepping on the back porch though.  Don't fret...it'll eventually just feel like a "mild" winter's day with temps in the low-mid 40s, breezes out of the NW at 13-18mph and Ms Sun taking on all this cloud cover warming us with plentiful sunshine coming a little later this morning.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 30s / low 40s, and breezes out of the N-NW at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow...clouds drift back over the island with temps barely tapping 40°...another gray, chilly day with a chance of rain beginning tomorrow night.

Rain Off And On

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover with light rain coming down.  The breezes have calmed down a bit out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  It feels chilly and raw out there.  The temps will drop today (low 40s) as rain clouds remain checked in.  We probably won't see a lot of rain today but keep in mind, there is a 60% chance of rain take it or leave it. Winds will be very light out of the N-NW at 5-7mph but my bet is there will be a seashore bite in the air.  Tonight...cloudy with periods of light rain and temps in the upper 30s / low 40s with breezes out of the N-NW at 3-5mph.  If the temps stay in the 30's we "might" see snow flakes or flurries.  Not much chance of seeing any accumulation tonight (the ground has warmed up and is salty and sandy enough from all that recent sloughing to keep the white stuff away).  Tomorrow...Ms Sun breaks on through as temps climb back up into the upper 40s / low 50s.  Whatever...I'm covering my baby seedlings tonight.

Gray TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under heavy, gray cloud cover with amazing breezes off the ocean (S-SE) at 10-13mph.  I immediately could smell the sea and could hear the surf pounding the coast from 6+ blocks away. What a start to the day treat! Grateful for that.  The sky is brightening but not sure how Ms Sun's going to make it through the gray denseness this morning as she tries to provide her disposition and warmth.  Only one forecast said expect peeks of sun around mid-day. Otherwise, it looks like it'll be dry (no rain) throughout the day but with the forecasted blustery, cloudy conditions. I'd expect a "sloughing" kind of day...a spa day due to the winds out of the S-SW at 25-35mph +gusting and the moist winds...mother nature facials for everyone. And, if you really want the real deal...go on the beach as the sand mixes with the moisture pelting those pores.  One forecaster reported 5% chance of precipitation whatever that is.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s (not that shabby).  Tonight...clouds and winds (S-SW 20-25mph) still checked in as temps head back down into the mid-upper 30s.  Rain begins on the overnight.  Tomorrow...rain here along the coast as I hear "snow" for the mainland.  Whew...missed that bullet but it'll be cold...mid-upper 40s.  Thank God for salt air as it never fails to keep that ol' snowmaker at bay (no pun intended).  For sure it'll be day 2 for the homemade Minestrone by the way...grateful for that deliciousness.  Happy Friday!

Sunny Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and at'em.  There's some leftover cloud cover but she's doing her best to brighten things up.  It's breezy...N-NW 15-20mph +gusting.  Feels like 29° with that wind chill.  It'll be a sunny, breezy day with temps tapping 50° and winds out of the W-NW at 18-22mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low 40s and breezes much lighter out of the W-SW at 5-7mph. Clouds will roll in on the overnight bringing the possibility of showers.  Tomorrow...the clouds are here for sunrise and unfortunately, the winds return (it'll be mostly a repeat of yesterday) and Saturday all forecasts are pointing to snowfall with barely any accumulation but snowfall just the same. There, I've said it.

Miserable Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some weather happening as I type.  It's extremely windy, gray, misty with major heavy fog happening.  The fog is creating the effect of torrential rain pouring down. You can barely see across the street through the thickness while the winds (S-SW 25-30mph +gusting) along with the fog's moisture are creating low visibility along with everything (windows/screens/doors etc) outside saturated and dripping wet.   All you need is a fog horn in the background to complete this scene.  It'll be a miserable weather day with misty rains and winds checked in throughout the day and evening (tonight: N-NW 25-30mph) as temps climb up into the mid-upper 50s (tonight: low 40s). The rain should taper off by early afternoon.  The clouds aren't checking out until tonight and the winds are here until tomorrow night.  Speaking of tomorrow...Ms Sun accompanies the wind but the temps will be at least 10° cooler.  Eh...so much for Spring.  Minestrone soup is on the Chef's menu today!

Mostly Gray One

Mornin'! It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover as it's spitting outside.  No breezes to note (haven't typed that line in quite awhile).  It'll be a cloudy, gray day with showers off and on throughout (45% chance) the day. Temps will get up into the upper 40s with breezes commencing a bit later this afternoon out of the E-SE at 10-12mph.  Tonight...cloudy with a 20% chance of precipitation and breezes out of the South at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow...a tough one...cloudy with periods of rain on and off, temps in the mid-upper 50s and the winds S-SW at 20-30mph are back.  Sounding "raw" and perhaps another soup day to me.

50-50 Monday. Some Gray - Some Sun

Mornin'!  It's 40° in blustery Wildwood NJ.  We're looking at the behind of another weather system as it heads out to sea.  We're under misty conditions with some major winds out of the NE at 20-25mph +gusting.  It's feeling cold with a windchill of 27°.  It's feeling a lot like March this morning (in fact it'll feel like it off and on this week, unfortunately) with temps barely tapping 40° and blustery winds staying checked in all week long.  It'll be a damp, wet, misty morning at least until late morning / early afternoon when periods of sunshine are on tap.  The winds will simmer down too (E-NE 8-11mph) but the temps will be right where they are now through the evening into the overnight.  Tonight...clear, 40° and E-NE breezes at 6-8mph.  Tomorrow...gray, wet, a bit warmer and much less windy than what's happening out there at the moment.

Happy Easter - And...April's Here!

Photo - Facebook (NorthWildwood Beach)
Mornin'!  It's 46° and cloudy in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Easter! This will be my very last weather blog as I'm retiring my Wildwood Weather website - blog today.  Just kidding.  April Fools!  We finally made it through that Nor'easter March of ours and now it should be mostly clear sailing ahead as Spring truly should start showing its beauty.  I know this is a wet, rainy month but it truly is the major factor in giving us all the blossoms and lovely new buds and upcoming flowering growth on the island.  It'll be all worth it. Unfortunately, April begins with a mostly gray day with minimal peeks of sun (Ms Sun's rising over the clouds as I type) with breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 50s.  Tonight...mostly cloudy, temps in the upper 40s / low 50s with light breezes out of the NW at 5-8mph.  Tomorrow...waking to rain showers and (leftover March) winds that will stay checked in until late afternoon.
