One Word: "Ahhhh"

If you haven't stuck your head outside yet this hump day morning, get ready...it's an "Ahhhhh" out there. Take a moment to stop and enjoy today. It's 64 degrees in WW this morning! I'm delighted to be typing that with windows once again wide open. Temps will rise to the mid to upper 70's today with a northerly breeze of 15-20mph. It will be partly cloudy throughout the day as there's still a 10-20% chance of a shower this morning. Ocean temp is a cool 60 something depending what beach you dip your toe. High tide in WW is 10:56a.m. this morning. I'm not one to say a whole lot about the forecast on an upcoming weekend especially a Holiday weekend, but I'll throw this one out there...looking really really good. More to come on that. For now...enjoy this perfect day. Ahhhhh!

More heatwave

Mornin'! It's currently 79 degrees in WW with a sunless, cloudy sky this morning. There's plenty of humidity though. No rain in the forecast, but it sure looks like it's about to downpour. Not much of a breeze as the leaves on the trees outside my window aren't budging an inch. Any breeze that does show itself...is coming from the west again at periodic 10mph which helps keep us insulated and warm on the island. The temperature will rise into the 90's again with just a 10% chance of a thunderstorm today. High tide is 4:09pm today and the ocean temp has dropped a bit but remains in the low 70's. A beach day? You decide.

Hazy, Hot and Humid Monday

Mornin'! It's currently 81 degrees in WW and it's not yet 7a.m. It's predicted to go into the mid to upper 90's again today with an intense heat index. (just like a wind chill factor in the winter, there's a heat index in the summer and it's looking like it may go over 100). There will be a hot westerly breeze (15-20mph) keeping the island insulated and warm; preventing the cool seabreeze from flowing over the beach. There's a possibility (50% chance) of Thunderstorms later today into this evening. Ocean temp is 77 degrees and the waves are 3-6'. High tide is 9:35a.m. today so park the beach blanket and umbrella close to the surf! The haze can be intense making the lifeguards work just a tad more challenging. It's certainly a beach day though...enjoy!

Sunday Sizzler

Mornin'! It's a Sunday Sizzler alright and I'm not talking sunday morning bacon. It's currently 76 degrees in Wildwood this morning and it's not 8:00a.m. The heat index is up today and will feel like 100 degrees on the island. It will actually be 93. Hazy, hot and humid all day with a southwest breeze (that's a hot breeze) at 5-10mph. No rain in sight. Ocean temp is 76 degrees. The high tide is...8:56a.m., so put that blanket, chair and umbrella right next to the water's edge. It's a beach day and my guess is a crowded one!

Full Moon Saturday

Mornin'! Happy Saturday. Happy weekend! Looks like a nice one too. It's currently 72 degrees in WW this morning. The sun's shining and the heat and humidity will be creeping back into our lives beginning today. It'll feel very warm as the temps will rise to the high 80's and may reach 90 today. There's a 30% chance of the ol' summer thunderstorm later today. It's very still outside as I type, but a light breeze from the southwest will be present later on the island. High tide is 8:11 this morning...meaning when you hit the beaches today, you can sit close to the water as the tide will be heading out. Ocean temp is 74 comfortable degrees. If you hear howling, it's due to the Full Moon which becomes full at 7:31 this morning. However, the moonrise tonight over the ocean is 8:52. If you're strolling the beach or boardwalk tonight, look toward the sea!

Soup's Still On!

Mornin' and a big TGIF! Yep...soup's still on as the "heat wave" is not only still out there, but will ramp up as we head into the weekend. It's currently 72 degrees in WW with sun-a-blazing this morning! Temperature will rise into the high 80's and may hit 90 but without the intense humidity of yesterday. There's not much of breeze to speak of this morning, although there's a northerly breeze coming in later at around 6-10mph. With this heat there's always the chance of a late day thunderstorm...20% so they say. For you Full Moon lovers...it's just about here. Tomorrow is the official full moon, but you could catch a moonrise tonight at 7:13pm if you're on the beach. If you've never seen a moonrise, they're pretty amazing to see. Ocean temp is 72 degrees and the tides will be a bit higher with that full moon approaching. Don't drive through the tide water along the island's streets as it's the Sea and the salt will corrode your vehicle! As for the weekend...Kenny Loggins will be heard everywhere you go if you listen carefully as the "Heat is on" so get to Wildwood and cool off!

Record Heat

Mornin'! Talk about "muggy"! Wow, it's warm this morning. Waking to sunshine, 79 humid degrees and no breeze gave me the urge to turn the hose on myself as I watered the garden. Today's temperature will go up into the high 90's today marking the record books as we could reach 95 degrees (or higher) in WW. It will be hazy with some cloudiness but the temps will remain very hot throughout the day. There will be a southwest breeze later at 5-10mph. The ocean temperature is an unbelievable 79 degrees. Keep in mind...the weather forecasters are calling for a chance of strong storms later today from all this heat building up. Nevertheless, I'd call this one a "10"...the beach is waiting.

Hazy, Hot and Humid

Mornin'! Happy Hump Day! It's currently 72 degrees as WW welcomes today's glorious sunrise. It'll be hazy, hot and humid on the island as the temperature is predicted to hit 90 as well as record highs today. Feels a little thick on the island. By that I mean sticky and hot as well as more folks and vehicles. A 5-10 mph breeze will be blowing the unhealthy air around. There's an "Air Alert" over Cape May County issued by the NJ Dept of Environment Protection Agency stating that the air quality is unhealthy today. Oh boy. The ocean temperature is 76 making a nice easy progression into the sea as you try and cool off. Not sure how hot the sand temperature will be getting there though, don't forget to protect your feet!

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Sing along with Martha & the Vandellas..."heat wave"

Mornin'! Summer's starting off with a "heat wave" which will be playing all week. It's currently 68 degrees in WW but switch those numbers and you'll have 86 here in no time today. The temperatures are going to rise each day as we head toward the weekend. The sun will be shining throughout most of today although there's a chance of some cloud cover, haze and later today...a thunderstorm. The breeze will be blowing across the island at 10mph. The ocean temperature is now up to 77 degrees. Beach day? Time to dip? If you're on North Wildwood's beach and feeling lucky, you could catch a glimpse of the Martians!

Happy Summer!

Mornin'! It just became Summer as the sun rose today! It's hard to believe I'm writing that. Time surely flies when you're having fun. Although it wasn't fun in February when my thoughts were only focused on Summer and how it would be here before I knew it. Longest day of the year it is. I hate to type this but beginning tomorrow, the days grow a bit shorter. It's currently 74 degrees in WW and the sun is up over the horizon greeting this very 1st day of summer. The temperature will rise to the mid to upper 80's with a NE breeze of 4 mph...I wouldn't even give that one a "breeze", but it is what it is. Ocean temp is 75 making for a perfect beach day! Happy Summer!

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Happy Fathers Day!

Mornin' and Happy Father's Day to all Dad's out there. And, let me mention...1 more day until Summer! Notice how long the days are? Sunsets are later and later but after the 1st of Summer, they become a tad earlier each evening. It's currently 77 degrees in WW this morning. A bit on the cloudy side as I type away, but the sun's out there and trying its best to shine. There will be a 20% chance of rain and/or a thunderstorm today. The breeze is coming from the south at 8-10 mph and feels refreshing and cool as it flows throw the porch windows. Don't let the cloud cover and cool breeze fool you though...it will be very warm and sticky today as the temperature rises to the mid-upper 80's on the island. Ocean temp is still up there at 73 degrees. Take Dad to the beach for a dip! Enjoy your day all you Dads out there!

Sunny Saturday

Mornin'! It's 72 degrees in WW this bright, sunny, beautiful morning. Temps are predicted to rise into the 80's with low humidity (that humidity will be creeping up beginning tomorrow). There's a cool breeze this morning coming from the south at about 10-15 mph. Get this...the ocean buoy is showing 75 degrees and that's a fairly warm ocean temperature! Sounds like a perfect day for a dip!

Friday, June 18, 2010

TGIF!

Mornin'! And, it looks like a beauty. The weekend's just about here. The summer's just about here. A "10" is just about here. It's currently 63 in WW and will be a warm, sunny 80 degree day by this afternoon. The 5 mph breeze will be barely felt. The ocean buoy temperature is currently 71. If you're looking for the weekend forecast...just repeat today, but increase the temperature a little each day. Although, Sunday will be the warmest of them all. Today looks to be a perfect "10" beach day...or at least a "9.5".

Summer's coming!

Mornin'! Four more days until summer as the weekend approaches. Beginning today the heat is on for the upcoming days leading to Summer. It's currently 73 degrees in WW as the sun's peeking over the horizon while I'm hitting the keyboard. It will be sunny, warm and hazy and high of 80 degrees on the island today. A breeze of 15-20mph is heading this way as well...southeasterly...which may keep us a bit cooler and certainly more comfortable than the mainland. Ocean temp is 70 degrees and very doable. Sounds like it could be a beach day. Ahhh...those Wildwood days!

Gray humpday!

Mornin'! It's currently 66 degrees in WW this morning and will rise to the mid 70's. Mostly cloudy today as the sun's having a tough time showing itself this morning. There's a mild breeze out there at 10mph. The clouds will stick around most of the day as the chance of showers is out there the entire day through this evening. It'll be one of those "looks like rain" days. For the next 5 days...we're in the "approaching summer" mode as the days are the longest of the year beginning today. More importantly, the heat is on its way and will be the star attraction for the summer's home opener this weekend. I'll be blogging!

The Cacti are blooming!

Mornin'! Another nice day on the island as the cactus look their best. Did you know that cactus grow wild and beautifully on some of the beaches here on the island? It's their time to shine as they're in full bloom while enjoying the salty, sea air. It's currently 70 degrees in WW this morning and will rise to the mid to upper 70's by this afternoon. The clouds abound, but the sunrise is making every effort to be a part of this comfortable, less humid morning. The breeze is coming from the sea at 10mph and will stay with us at 10-15mph throughout the day. It will stay partly cloudy and there's a 30% chance of rain this evening. We may not have to water the plants!

Monday, June 14, 2010

Happy Flag Day!

It's amazing that today is June 14th...Flag Day already! The summer's fast approaching. It's currently 66 degrees in Wildwood. It's overcast this morning and will stay mostly hazy; although the sun will show its warm self all off and on throughout the day. The chance of a pop-up thunderstorm will hang around too. The temperature will rise into the 80's as the breeze will be coming from the west making for a warm, muggy day. Ocean temp is 72. Raise the Flag and hit the beach! Or, hit the beach and raise the Flag!

Sunny and Warm Sunday

It's currently 75 degrees in WW this slightly overcast Sunday. The sun's is breaking through as I type though. It's a bit on the warm side and will get warmer...up to 85degrees as this day continues. There's a 30% chance of showers late this morning and later this afternoon. The breeze has slowed up significantly and is just that..."a breeze" at 10mph and coming from the west. That will shift late this afternoon and become an offshore breeze feeling cooler as the ocean temp is 68 providing the cooler air. Beach day? Your guess is as good as mine. I'd suggest packing an egg & porkroll sandwich, a thermos of coffee and go now and hit the beach before the rains or crowds or even before the lifeguards get there. An early morning beach visit is one never to be forgotten!

The Weekend's Back!

Happy Saturday! WW has cloud cover this morning but still lovely. It's currently 66 degrees and predicted to go up into the mid-70's. It will be partly cloudy most of the day over our island. There's a breeze coming off the sea at 10mph and water temp is 68 degrees. The sun will keep us warm throughout the day but cloud cover will be prevalent in WW. Tomorrow...sunnier and warmer.
Footnote: at 4pm...It's a sunnier and cooler day than predicted. It's a much breezier day than I first reported as the seabreeze is gusting 30mph. Cool and lovely. Just lovely. (unfortunately...not a great beach and or umbrella day, but a perfect day for sheets and comforter on the clothesline.)

Friday, June 11, 2010

TGIF!!!

Plenty of sunshine this beautiful Friday. It's currently 64 degrees as the sun rises. Temps will stay in the 70's and the breeze will drift off the sea at 10mph. Speaking of the sea...69 degrees. Can you feel it? Can you smell it? I can and it's fine! It will stay fine too for the weekend although a bit warmer. Get out and enjoy this feast for the senses!

Clouds are clearing out as the week winds down!

Happy Thursday. It's currently 66 degrees in WW. The clouds are still hovering about somewhat, but they're making way for the sun which is rising and will be shining down most of the day. The temperatures will rise to the low to mid 80's with an off shore breeze of 10-15mph. Ocean temp is 68 degrees. As we head into the weekend, the forecast looks like a repeat of today for the next 4-5 days with more of a chance of a shower each day. I'll be blogging!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Red sky in the morning...

It wasn't actually a red sky this morning, but the sunrise was doing a superb job painting the cloud cover into an artist's palette. It's currently 59 in WW this morning and the temps will rise into the 70's today. The rain showers will begin by late morning and continue through much of the day. There's an 80% chance of that happening well into the late evening. The winds will gust 10-20mph and make for a mostly miserable day. Don't let the stunning morning sky fool you as that color palette is about to turn all gray.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Another Perfect Day at the Shore

It's currently 62 degrees in WW this morning as the beautiful sunrise can be seen through the beach dunes. The temperatures will go into the mid to high 70's and the breeze will be around 10mph. Ocean temperature is just about 70 degrees. A seasonably warm day today and another perfect beach day if you ask me! Enjoy it as tomorrow everything changes.

Monday, June 7, 2010

Sunny Monday

Good Morning! All that weekend heat and humidity is thankfully out of here. It's a lovely Spring morning in WW. Temperature is currently 61 degrees with a breeze of 15mph. It will remain lovely today as the temps rise to the high 70's and the breeze will stay around throughout most of the day gusting up to 20mph. It's blue skies and sun and breezes and ocean temps of almost 70! Sounds like a beach day to me!

Sunday, June 6, 2010

Sunday Morn'

Good Sunday Morn'! Perfect morning in WW. Sun is shining. Cool breeze is blowing. Gulls are laughing. Don't be fooled though...it's going to repeat yesterday which means really steamy with late storms. It's currently 73 degrees in WW with a 10mph breeze. Temps will rise to high 80's. (My prediction is it will go into the 90's as it did yesterday) Then, the thunderstorms will be arrive late today/or tonight as there's a 60% of that happening. Ocean temp is 70 degrees. Looks like the beach is waiting for ya. Enjoy!

Saturday, June 5, 2010

It's the Weekend!

Happy Saturday! No sunrise this morning as the sky is overcast. A bit cloudy and muggy this morning. Temperatures are already warm as it's 77 degrees in WW. It's predicted to rise to 87 on the coast with a warm SW breeze of 9 mph. Ocean temps are getting up there at 70 degrees. There is a thunderstorm watch throughout the day and a 30% chance of a shower. If you would prefer a Parade rather than other outdoor activities, the Wildwood Elks will be gathering to celebrate their 97th reunion in WW today by hosting the NJ State Elks Parade beginning at 12 noon at 25th & Atlantic Aves; continuing to Andrews Avenue. Whatever your pleasure, get out and enjoy!

Friday, June 4, 2010

Happy Friday!

Good Morning! It's looking like another summer day in WW. The forecast is almost the exact same as yesterday except for the glorious morning fog; although there is a bit of an overcast as the sun's rising. The start of the weekend may repeat today as Saturday's forecast is following suit. It's currently 66 degrees and rising to into the 80's. Hot and humid with a light breeze of 5-10mph. Don't forget that chance of a thunderstorm late in the day. Ocean temp is still 69-70! Which still amazes me that it's becoming that warm already; the complete opposite of last year. We'll be calling "10" before you know it. Nice beach day today!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Foggy Thursday Morning

Top of thee mornin' to ya! It's currently 66 degrees in WW and as foggy as London. There's a slight 5mph breeze coming off the sea. The forecast is predicting a warm, sunny day once this soup is gone with temps in the 80's. There's a 40% chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon or early evening. Ocean temp may hit 70 degrees. Me thinks a warm summer's ahead.

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Misty Hump Day

Good Morning! There's a mist surrounding WW this morning. The closer to the beach, the heavy the fog. The sun is trying with all its might to break through and according to the forecast will succeed. Today's forecast is mostly cloudy with some sun. Temperature is currently 68 and going up to 80. A bit muggy on the island today. Breeze from the West at 10mph will turn easterly later making it feel cooler. Ocean temperature is 65.

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Happy June!

A great weekend is over and the season has begun. Just amazing that it's June 1st! It's all good. The island's much quieter. Our island guests have departed. The tuesday departers are probably packing as I type and they should have a sunny drive home. June begins with mild, warm temps and a lovely morning sunrise along with a seabreeze moving those window curtains around. It's currently 71 degrees in WW this morning. It will rise to 80 before the day is over and there's a 60% chance of thunderstorms later today. The winds will be evident all day at 15-20mph. Ocean temp is 65 and doesn't hurt when you dip; shocking but not painful. The start of the summer season has begun on a pretty good note I must say!
