Goodbye November and Hurricane Season!

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's the last day for November's weather and the last official day of hurricane season.  We're in it now.  It's still dark outside with Ms Sun expected in about a half an hour.  We probably won't see her rise and shine again as it's cloudy out there.  There's very light breezes out of the West at 4-7mph.  It looks like we're going to have cloudy skies this morning and partly cloudy skies this afternoon with temps in the upper 40s.  We may even have a rain shower or dare I say it... a wet "snow" shower!  If the temps stay in the upper 40s, I can almost guarantee there will be no snow showers.  Winds will be ramping up out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, starlit skies, low around 40° and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy in the morning giving way to a cloudy day with temps in the upper 40s.  Well, November flew by almost as fast as October.  We must be having a lot of fun as time is flying.  See you on the other side November!

Washington Street Mall - Cape May

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's the first day of Hanukkah!  We're under some light cloud cover... the moon is somewhat visible  but the cloud cover is thick enough to block seeing any stars twinkling.  Breezes are barely there out of the East at 3-5mph.  It doesn't feel as cold as yesterday morning that's for sure.  These morning clouds will give way to a mostly sunny day with a high of 54°.  Winds will be out of the W-SW at 4-8mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, low of 36° and NW winds at 5-9mph.  Tomorrow... sunny with some milky cloud cover and a high of 46° and NW winds at 15-25mph.

Saturday looking sunny and blustery with temps in the upper 40s as Sunday's looking partly sunny with warmer temps (tapping 50°) and not as windy.  Lots to be thankful for and I'll certainly be reflecting on all those gifts that have been bestowed on us. I will be missing my Freddy as we travel to our family gathering without him this year.  I'll never stop missing him.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Mostly Gray Monday

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently having some light rain showers with light winds out of the W-NW at 5-7mph.  Before I retired, Monday's were always my least favorite day of the week.  Not sure why, but I was mopey and even more so if it was raining.  Now, it's my favorite day of the week especially if it's raining.  It's funny how that worked out.  What's not funny is that today marks the anniversary (11-22-63) of our 35th president being assassinated turning our world upside down. It's one of those days that live in infamy which I'll never forget being a child at the time.
On a brighter note, I had a very nice weekend... got a couple good walks in, made a pineapple upside-down cake, made my first pot of homemade soup of the season (conch chowder as Key West is still on our taste buds), made a pot of chili for the Eagles game yesterday and put my Christmas tree up while watching that winning game.  Now, for the weather... it's raining and it'll be raining for most of the morning.  By 1-2pm, the rain's checking out as the clouds begin drifting off.  It'll become partly cloudy with peeks of sun by late this afternoon.  Today's temps will stay around where they are now... lower 50s and by this evening head down to the low-mid 40s.  Today's winds will be out of the NW at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cold and partly to mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 30s and winds out of the N-NW at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny and windy with temps in the low 40s but feeling like the low 30s because of the N-NW winds at 20-25mph.

More Clouds Than Sun This Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  We're having more clouds than sun at the moment making for a picturesque morning sky.  It's like a fine painting of pastels in the sky along the golden, autumn dunes as Ms Sun's creates this glorious sunrise.  There's barely any breeze as it's an afterthought... W-NW at 2-3mph.  We're going to see a partly cloudy day with temps in the mid-upper 50s and Southerly breezes at 5-10mph. No rain on the menu today until late tonight. Tonight... the clouds really thicken as we'll have 70% chance of rain developing around midnight.  Temps will drop to the low-50s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... waking to clouds and 90% chance of rain.  Rain should end by the afternoon with a high of 52° and NW winds at 10-20mph.

Saturday Mix Of Sun And Clouds

November Moon - 11/19/21

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got a crispy, frost-on-the-pumpkin, kind of morning down the Shore. Not much in breezes making the air very cold... N-NE 3-5mph.  It's clear with cloudless skies and Ms Sun up and over the horizon beginning her autumn warm up.  Here's how today's going to unfold... it's going to start out this morning sunny and cold.  Later this morning, clouds will filter in and make a partly cloudy morning trade off into a mostly cloudy afternoon.  Temps will rise and get up into the low 50s with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy, low of 44° with light and variable winds.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with peeks of sun in the late morning / early afternoon, high of 56° and more of those light and variable winds.  By midnight tomorrow night, the rains arrive and check out around 1-2pm Monday afternoon.  I made it to the beach last evening to catch the Moon rise and as always, it didn't disappoint!  Happy Weekend!

Beaver - Blood - Full Moon

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  I'm happy to report that I woke this morning in time for the grand finale of the Lunar Eclipse!  The earth's (sitting pretty between the sun and the moon) shadow was creating a nice arch of darkness over the full moon this morning.  Obviously, Wildwood's currently got a clear, starlit sky as Ms Sun lies in wait to rise and shine in just over an hour.  It's crisp and cold with NW winds at 15-20mph.  I keep walking away from the keyboard to head on out to the back porch to watch this phenomenon which will be ending very shortly as this big ol' moon is becoming bigger and brighter while the shadow of the eclipse grows smaller and smaller as I type.  We've been having some fantastic weather here along the coast as of late (we did have a nice watering overnight with some off and on heavy rains). But today, it's going to be dry, and feel much colder.  Yesterday, we hit the 70° mark believe it or not.  Not today.  Expect plenty of sunshine, high of 48° and those NW gusty winds at 20-30mph+ diminishing by later this afternoon.  Tonight... clear, moonlit skies, low of 34° and North winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... warmer with a mix of clouds and sun early, becoming cloudy later in the day with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... hardly any breeze, high of 55° and mostly cloudy.  Expect rains late Sunday night.

Sunny, Calm Day / Cloudy, Windy Night

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's another lovely morning in Wildwood.  We've got Ms Sun up and shining brightly with light winds out of the SW at 10-14mph.  It's all going to change though.  Gale Warnings are posted for today beginning at 6pm until tomorrow morning at 10am.  For today, we've got abundant sunshine with a high of 67° as winds begin to ramp up out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clouds and winds begin to roll in after dinner (around 7ish) with 80% chance of rain.  It'll become colder as temps will drop into the upper 40s with W-NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns with winds diminishing in the afternoon.  Temps will still be in the upper 40s with NW winds sticking around at 20-30mph +gusting.  The weekend looks "eh".  Saturday has a partly sunny / partly cloudy day on tap and not as blustery and colder with temps in the upper 40s.  Sunday has a cloudy start with a slight chance of a few showers developing later in the afternoon with temps tapping 60° (chance of rain is 30%).  Then, a light steady rain coming Sunday evening as we wake to rain Monday.  The Full Moon is tomorrow and we'll probably be able to see that amazing moon rise along the ocean's horizon.  Not sure about tonight though as we may start to get that evening cloud cover by 4:30PM (full moonrise).  One thing's for sure and that big ol' Beaver Moon will affect the tides and if it rains we'll no doubt see tidal flood caused by the rain and moon during high tide times.

Happy Humpday!

Mornin'!  Happy Hump Day!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun rose about an hour ago and is shining brightly.  Breezes are light out of the S-SE at 5-8mph.  It's a perfect autumn morning down the Shore.  Expect a beautiful autumn day with plenty of sunshine, temps in the low-60s and Southerly winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... some clouds filter in as the temps drop into the mid-upper 50s as S-SW winds waft (wift) over the island at 10-20mph. Tomorrow... another beauty and even warmer.  Expect lots of sunshine, temps in the upper 60s and S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  At this time, the weekend's looking more cloud covered than anything else.  Saturday will be partly cloudy with peeks of sunshine but by early evening, the clouds will take over and on Sunday... mostly cloudy with rains coming Sunday night.  So, some things are going on above us at the moment.  It's the Leonid Meteor Shower peeking today.  If skies are clear overnight, you'll see the meteors (about 5-10 an hour) mostly in the pre-dawn sky.  An almost Full Moon isn't going to allow a whole lot of star gazing as its brightness will hamper successful viewing.  This upcoming Full "beaver" Moon is Friday.  And, if the clouds permit, we might see a partial lunar eclipse around between 1am and 6am EST on the 19th.  Not to mention it's Moon-Rising time and it really is something to experience along the coast.  It'll be early today... 4pm rise.

Bright Sunny Tuesday

Fulling Mill Rd - Lower Twnshp NJ
Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining brightly without a cloud in sky.  Breezes are relatively light at 9-11mph out of the W-NW after yesterday's blustery, wind-chill kind of day.  It felt like a sneak-peek of winter yesterday with those wicked winds and partly (beautiful... check my Instagram) cloudy sky.  Unlike yesterday, we're going to have abundant "vivid blue sky" sunshine today with a high around 50° and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear sky, low of 42° and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more sunshine, warmer with a high of 62° and S-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Thursday's going to be even milder!

Windy Monday

This Morning's NW Webcams

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  The sky is spectacular!  We've got fast moving stratocumulus (big, fat, honeycomb-like) clouds up above.  Ms Sun should be shining but the clouds have her.  The wind have the clouds and is pushing them along from the W-NW at 20-25mph +gusting.  It'll be a windy Monday with decreasing cloudiness.  Temps will get to around 50° with those W-NW going nowhere creating a 40° windchill.  They'll be letting their presence known at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear, gusty winds diminishing after midnight. Temps will drop into the upper 30s. Tomorrow... Mainly sunny, low-50s and still windy (W-NW 10-20mph).

Sunny Start With Clouds Rolling In

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's bright and sunny with very light breezes out of the W-NW at 4-8mph.  Enjoy this beautiful, bright, sunny, lovely, autumn morning along the coast as the clouds are due to check in today and turn things gray.  They're saying to expect a gray, cloudy Sunday with temps hovering around 50°.  Winds will switch from the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with some clearing late in the evening as temps drop to where they are now... low-mid 40s.  W-SW winds aren't going anywhere in fact, they'll be kicking up a bit at 10-20mph in time for tomorrow.  Tomorrow... gusty.  Batten down the hatches again as we're supposed to have W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Expect a partly sunny day with plenty of cloud cover and temps in the low-50s and with temps dropping into the 30s by tomorrow night.  Next Wednesday and Thursday look like "keepers" with plentiful sunshine and temps back up in the 60s. Rainy Start

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got the mild temperatures but it's blustery and raining lightly.  The fine, salty, rain droplets feel like little stinging pellets going sideways with these winds (South 20-25mph). It'll be a wet, blustery start to the day with morning rain (some thunder and lightning could be in the mix).  By early afternoon, the rain should be checking out as it'll become partly sunny with temps in the mid-upper 60s and W-SW winds raging at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear, calmer and colder.  Temps will drop down to 50° with S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny becoming windy by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with Southerly winds shifting from the West at 20-30mph +gusting.  Sunday... mostly sunny, calmer winds and temps barely tapping 50°.

Veterans Day

Hubby in 1969 - US Army
Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Veterans Day!  To all the living and deceased Veterans... this day is a remembrance and a thank you for serving in our armed forces and defending our nation.  Veterans Day is starting out lovely as Ms Sun's up and shining down with clear blue skies as far as the eye can see.  Breezes are light out of the NE at 4-6mph.  It's a lovely autumn morning down the Shore once again.  Enjoy as clouds will filter in today and by this afternoon it will become a cloudy day.  Temps will rise into the mid-60s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy skies giving way to cloudy skies and overnight rain.  Temps will drop to the mid-50s with S-SE winds at 15-25mph.  Chance of rain overnight is 70%.  Tomorrow... 100% chance of rain (and wind) early with remaining cloudy skies and rain showers in the afternoon.  We may get some thunder and lightning.  Temps will once again be in the mid-60s with SW winds ramping up at 20-30mph +gusting. The weekend's still looking clear and bright with sunny conditions at least until late afternoon on Sunday.  Saturday will be the warmer of the two days (temps in the low-60s) as Sunday appears to be looking on the chillier side with temps barely tapping 50°.  Thank You to my hubby and all our Veterans out there who have served our Country.

Lovely Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under cloud cover as Ms Sun's trying to shine through the thick painted clouds. The clouds are creating some beautiful colors in the morning sky.  We've got all kinds of pastels with oranges, yellows, golds... etc.  The front of my home is glistening in rich colors this morning. There's a slight chance of a rain shower this morning (15% chance).  These morning clouds will give way to blue, sunny skies today.  Temps will get up into the mid-upper 60s again.  Yesterday we reached 68°.  These W-NW winds (7-9mph) will switch up a bit from the NW at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear, low of 51° and NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... starting out clear and sunny with clouds filtering in and making for a gray afternoon. Temps will still be mild and in the mid-60s.  Friday... the rains are still due to check in for the day.  The weekend's still looking sunny but colder.

A Beautiful Day Down The Shore

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a beautiful morning with clear, "pink" skies as Ms Sun will be rising over the horizon any moment now.  The breezes are light out of the W-NW at 4-6mph.  It'll be a pleasant, warmish day with plentiful sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 60s. West winds are on tap at 5-10mph.  Tonight... mainly clear, temps in the low-50s and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny with clouds in the mix and temps in the upper 60s along with NW winds at 5-10mph.  We did see 70° temperatures this time last year for a few days this 2nd week of November.  Who knows, maybe it'll tap 70° today?  Oh, there's rain still coming on Friday. But, the weekend's looking good.  Get out there and enjoy today's weather!

Beautiful Breezy Autumn Weather

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, starlit skies this morning.  Sunrise isn't for another hour or so.  It's quiet but you can hear the ocean's roar in the dark, chilly air.  Light breezes are out of the North at 5-10mph.  Prepare for a picture perfect autumn day down the Shore.  Expect abundant sunshine today with a high of 65° and blustery North winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... more clear, starlit skies with a low of 48° and light and variable winds out of the NW.  Tomorrow... more sun along with more mid-60s temps and not as blustery.

The End of Daylight Savings Time

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  If you didn't turn your clocks back an hour before turning in, it's an hour earlier as the days are shorter!  It's mostly clear with clouds (right along the horizon) preventing Ms Sun from shining her warm rays on the island but making for a beautiful, colorful sky.  No doubt she'll eventually get up over them and begin today's warm-up; temporarily anyway as it'll be a mostly cloudy day.  There's currently stiff N-NE winds at 15-20mph creating an autumn chill (it actually feels like 38°).  Expect partly cloudy (w/peeks of sunshine) skies this morning as it'll become overcast during the afternoon.  Temps will get into the mid-upper 50s with N-NE winds at 15-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy becoming partly cloudy with temps back to where they are now... mid-40s and North winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...  sunny and blustery, high of 64° with North Winds at 10-20mph.

I'm Back! So Is Eastern Standard Time.

Afternoon!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining through hazy, milky clouds and the winds are stiff out of the E-NE at 15-20mph.  It's going to be a mix of clouds and sun today with temps around where they are now and E-NE winds at 15-20mph.  Tonight... partly to  mostly cloudy, low of 46° and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy, high of 58° and those E-NE winds again at 10-20mph.  It's Fall at its finest.  Especially "down the shore" with that almost warm sun, crisp briny sea-air and those seagulls always chattering and adding perfect ambiance to life along the Coast.  It's really good to be back home whether on the chilly side or not.  As I turned my back on summer, a 2,800+ mile road trip including passing through 7 States with a Key West destination including 5 overnighters down South, I'm grateful to be home and back on my island after 38 days away.  I can't recall if I was ever away from home for that length of time before but one thing's for sure... my bed felt remarkable!  Speaking of time... it's time to "turn the clocks back" an hour before turning in tonight as Daylight Savings Time is heading out.  I left Wildwood the end of September (the loveliest time of the year here regarding our "weather") and the sun was still very warm while the trees leaves still green were just beginning their metamorphosis. Upon returning the other day, the trees colors have peaked with their bright reds, yellows and oranges colors while those Jersey pines stood tucked around all those lovely colors with their dark greens along the GSP (Garden State Parkway) and what a perfect painting to behold.  We're just getting off a "new moon" along with a strong southern low pressure that's responsible for coastal flood warnings and advisories happening at the moment.  The Tides without question are in "extreme" mode. I just returned from the grocery store from the mainland and while traveling along Rt. 47 through the wetlands and marshlands (which would normally be down a significant drop from the shoulder of the road), I saw some of the highest tides I've ever seen. The marsh water was level with the highway with barely any marsh grass (no longer green but gold) visible out on the watery horizon... strange phenomenon.  I'm grateful that I experienced only pleasant weather on all of my travels to and from the most Southern Point of the United States.  But as I type, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia are getting nailed by this thing.  Lots and lots and lots of rain along with major winds and flood watches posted everywhere.  Apparently, Wildwood won't feel the same effects thankfully as there is no rain on our forecast until this time next week.  It's just that low pressure just south of us, and the wind and moon that are all creating a bit of "crazy tide havoc" for us.  Be aware of low-lying areas and where that vehicle gets parked.  And, remember that the tides on the marsh side of the island are always an hour later than the ocean side of the island.  Time to remember to change the time tonight and you might want to change the batteries in all those detectors.  See you on Standard Time!
