Ms Sun's Up There Somewhere As We Say Good-bye To February

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  The cloud cover continues.  It's raining lightly (I call it "spitting") with hardly a breeze (E-NE at 2-4mph).  It's quiet with the very distant sound of the surf but it's the fragrance in the air that hits the senses when stepping on to  the back porch.  There's an over abundance of brininess in the salty air this morning.  It's what island living is all about. Everything on the island is soggy and dewy.  It's going to get even soggier as there's a 100% chance of rain today as the winds (out of the East) will be ramping up at 10-20mph making for quite a miserable day.  Temps will only rise a few degrees as it'll be in the mid-40s.  Rainfall expected is about a ½".  Tonight... occasional rain showers (90% chance), low around 43° with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... Monday perfection with more clouds, more rain (95% chance) with a high of 50° and W-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Until next year February... thanks for being mostly kind to our coastal region this winter!  See you on the other side!

Gray Full Moon Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with heavy mist and wet conditions.  Winds are out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  And, the ocean's roar is loud and clear and that's even on the back of the island (marsh side).  In the quietness what you hear is what sounds like a busy interstate nearby but it's just the noisy ocean wave action.  We're scheduled to have off and on rain showers at least until mid-day when it'll become just a cloudy day.  Temps will be in the low-mid 50s with SW winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain showers today... 60%.  Tonight... cloudy, low near 40° with N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Chance of rain tonight... 20%.  Tomorrow... back to being a rainy day with a high of 47°, and East winds at 10-20mph.  Monday... almost a repeat of today with another rainy first half of the day with Ms Sun possibly peeking in by the afternoon.  Today's the Full "Snow" Moon but there's no snow to speak of here on the island.  We haven't had to shovel yet this year thankfully!  The Moon is creating tides much higher than normal so be aware of street flooding in those low-lying areas.

Last Day To Enjoy The Outdoors For Awhile

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 6-8mph with clouds overhead.  It's quiet and still.  If you take a moment to really listen, you can hear the ocean's dull roar (6+ blocks away) thanks to the insulating cloud cover.  Ms Sun's just about across the horizon but she'll have broken, overcast skies to paint this morning.  Expect a partly sunny / partly day.  It'll be cooler than yesterday (we got into the mid-50s yesterday) with temps in the low-40s.  Winds will shift to the NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clouds thicken and take over the skies as temps drop to the mid-upper 30s as rains commence (90% chance) with E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... 80% chance of rain with warmer temps (low 50s) and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Sunday... 100% chance of rain, temps in the upper 40s and less windy.  Ms Sun plans on checking back in sometime late Monday.  Be aware of the Full Moon tomorrow and the higher than normal tides along with a couple days and nights of rainfall = tidal flooding.

The Lovely Weather Continues!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got clear skies above with an almost full moon (Saturday's the Full "Snow" Moon) and stars fading in the dawn light.  Breezes are light out of the NW at 10-14mph.  We going to have a repeat of yesterday's lovely "preview to Spring" weather with plentiful sunshine and temps in the upper 40s / low 50s.  Winds will ramp up a bit out of the NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cold with a few passing clouds, low of 32° and winds light and variable.  Tomorrow... more of the same with a mix of sun and clouds and temps in the 40s.  The weekend's still looking like a washout with 100% chance of rain for both days and sad to say... not much in the the line of a full moon showing itself rising or glowing.  Could be a "homemade soup or chili making" weekend though!  Enjoy today!

Beauty Of A Hump Day

This Morning's Webcam - North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun just rose through some leftover clouds along the horizon and once again is creating a colorful, picturesque seascape this morning.  Not much in wind as a light breeze is out of the W-SW at 2-4mph.  No windchill this morning.  Once these morning clouds drift out of here, we'll have a mostly sunny day with a high of 48° and it'll be breezy with S-SW winds that are headed this way at 15-25mph.  Tonight... clear, starlit, moonlit, low around 40° and still breezy with W-SW winds at 15-25mph. Tomorrow and Friday... more of the same I'm happy to report.  Saturday and Sunday... wet! The Full (Snow) Moon is this coming Saturday so be aware of those higher than normal tides as those areas that usually flood probably will be flooding this weekend.

Partly Sunny

North Wildwood - Webcam
Mornin'!  This is dedicated to my Mother who would be turning 86 today.  She loved the Shore just as much as the rest of us.  Happy Birthday!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies with some leftover cloud cover.  It's just the perfect amount to make the sunrise spectacular as Ms Sun paints the clouds and sky every pastel color she can find.  It just might take a little while as there are clouds right along the horizon doing a little sunrise obstruction.  Breezes are currently out of the W-NW at 8-10mph.  It's a beautiful morning.  We're going to see sunshine today with clouds in the mix.  Temps are going to climb into the mid-upper 40s with W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly clear with a low of 36° and West winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... almost a repeat of today with sunshine mixed with clouds and a high of 46°. The blustery S-SW winds will get into the 15-25mph range.

Miserable Monday

Mornin'! It's George Washington's birthday (2/22/1732).  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the South at 15-20mph making it feel like 28°.  We're under thick cloud cover as Ms Sun's on her way in about a half an hour.  We're not going to see her though.  Expect a perfect Monday... rainy and windy (100% chance).  My perfect kind of Monday.  I'm not sure why but I detested Mondays until they've become recurring Saturdays.  It's going to rain today until around 7pm.  Hang on to your hat as we're having winds at 20-30mph +gusting of up to 40mph out of the S-SW.  Temps will be in the mid-40s but feel like the mid-30s and add to that the sideways rain.  Monday perfection.  Tonight... partly cloudy, low of 34° and West winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun is right back overseeing the island at least partially... partly sunny day with high of 46° and still blustery.  Can't you just feel March with its relentless winds behind the calendar curtain peeking in?

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 26° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the NW at 10-15mph providing a 15° windchill.  Ms Sun's up and shining on the island through the cloudless, clear sky.  It's supposed to stay clear and cloudless today too as it'll be a perfect blue sky, sunny day. Temperature will be a high near 36° and NW winds at 10-15mph decreasing to 5-10mph by the afternoon.  Windchill will be around 29°.  Tonight... clouds filter in and begin to take over, low around 29° and South winds at 5-15mph.  Tomorrow... rainy day on tap (beginning later in the morning) with high of 43° and very windy with South winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Rains will be short lived and probably clear out by the evening.  Tuesday... partly sunny and high of 45°!

Mostly Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny!  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly over the island.  Winds are still out of the NW at 18-22mph making it feel like 16°.  Everything outside is glistening in an icy coating from yesterday and the overnight.  No snow (unlike the Philly area)... just rain and an icy coating.   It'll be a sunny to partly sunny day with temps in the low-mid 30s with stiff W-NW winds at 15-25mph giving us a nice windchill of low-20s.  Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the low-20s and NW winds at 15-25mph making it feel like 15°.  Tomorrow... sunny, high of 36° and Winds from the NW at 10-15mph.  Monday... another storm heading right for us with a full day of rain.  It looks like the sun plans on returning Tuesday.

Wet Friday

Photos from Several Years Ago - North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining with winds out of the North at 10-20mph.  Windchill is 24°.  Expect another rainy day or even possibly freezing rain, snow or sleet throughout today and this evening.  Temps are going to hover around the mid-upper 30s with North winds at 10-20mph.  Little or no accumulation is expected. By later tonight... clouds begin to clear as we begin to dry out.  Temps will be around the upper 20s / low 30s as winds shift from the Northwest at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny high near 34° and breezy with NW winds at 15-25mph.  Sunday... sunny, high of 34° with NW at 5-10mph.  Wildwood hasn't received any snowfall from this bad boy touch wood.  My daughter who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia looks like she lives in Oklahoma City (which btw is the most Snow-Fatigued city with 22"+ so far this winter).  She and her family having been receiving some pretty big doses of the white stuff this year in the Yardley, PA area.  Thankfully, we have yet to shovel this winter!

Icy, Cold, Wet, Thursday

webcam shot - North Wildwood boat ramp
Mornin'!  It's 30° in Wildwood NJ.  NE winds are wafting over the island at 15-20mph making a nice windchill of 19°.  Pellets of ice are falling and covering the island.  We're currently having a mix of snow, ice pellets, hail or whatever you'd like to call it land on the island and cover everything it's touching.  The webcams are showing the beach and boardwalk covered in white and that's not snow.  There's a good ½" of icy-snowy crispiness out there.  Expect all of this icy moisture to change to rain later this morning at temps climb into the upper 30s.  And, to make it even nicer out there, those NE winds will ramp up some at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... cloudy, light rain, temps in the low-mid 30s and NE winds at 15-25mph.  If out and about, I'd be thinking there's a possibility of icy streets and roads; especially the surfaces on the bridges. Tomorrow... light rain for the start of the day turning to a wintry mix of snow, rain and possibly ice depending on the temperature.  It's looking pretty good at mid-upper 30s with North winds at 10-20mph.  The weekend's looking sunny!  Saturday... sunny but very blustery and cold (low 30s).  And, Sunday... sunny and not as blustery and cold (low 30s). Be careful out there!

Trump Day Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies (finally)!!  Winds are stiff out of the NW at 18-22mph +gusting for a windchill of 15°.  I'd say a bit different than yesterday's balmy morning around this time.  Ms Sun's finally on her way in less than a half hour.  Expect a sunny, cold, wintry day, high of 33° and N-NW winds at 5-10mph giving it the upper 20s feel.  Tonight... partly cloudy, with snow showers beginning after midnight. Temps will be in the upper 20s with NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... wet.  Expect to wake to a wintry mix of rain and snow changing to all rain by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 30s with NE winds at 20-30mph.  We could get anywhere from a coating of slushy snow to 1-3" of the white stuff.  It all depends on the temperature.  Friday... a rainy day with temps in the upper 30s. At this time, the weekend's looking dry but cold and blustery.  Saturday being the blustery, somewhat more cloudy day out of the two.  Today's the implosion for the Trump Plaza hotel and casino (circa 1984) in Atlantic City.  It's scheduled to come down at 9am.  It'll be a cold one for the Spectators this morning.  I was on the AC beach for the Sands Casino implosion (2007) and it was quite the spectacle! Happy Mardi Gras!

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Fat Tuesday!  We're having New Orleans weather as it appears  they're having our weather at the moment with 28° temps.  Just amazing crazy weather throughout our country as of late. Not to mention there is no Mardi Gras (as we know it) in NOLA this year due to COVID.  I made my King Cake (without the baby) yesterday in honor of Shrove Tuesday or Fasnacht Day or Fat Tuesday or whatever you want to refer to it as. And, Jambalaya is on the dinner menu! There's a little Mardi Gras happening in this home today!
It's currently gray and foggy with some heavy, wind-driven mist thrown in.  Winds are currently SW at 15-25mph +gusting.  Even with the mild temps, it's perfectly miserable along our Coast right now.  We're going to have a mild day though as far as temperatures go.  Today's temps will be in the low-50s with rain this morning. By this afternoon, the clouds begin to move on out with Ms Sun finally making her way through.  But, the winds aren't going anywhere... West at 15-25mph +gusting all day into the night.  Tonight... cold temps return as it'll be partly cloudy and even windier (W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting) with a low of 26°.  Tomorrow... plenty of sunshine (thank God) with a few afternoon clouds filtering in and a high of 33° with NW winds still whipping at 10-20mph.  Happy Mardi Gras!

Happy Presidents Day!

Mornin'  Happy President's Day! The long weekend continues. It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 28° due to the N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  We're under gray skies again.  We haven't seen a sunny morning since this time last week on the 8th.  Don't expect any sunshine today as the gray skies continue.  Today's temps will stay around where they are now (upper 30s) with NE winds at 10-20mph (feeling like upper 20s).  By this evening... it'll be raining (100% chance) with increased winds at 20-30mph out of the E-SE but temps will be in the low-mid 40s.  Tomorrow... more rain and winds but Ms Sun will get through part of the cloud cover sometime in the afternoon as the temps almost hit 50° and that's not a typo. Wednesday... sunny and a high of 35°.

Photo - boxist.com
Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Valentines Day!  No sunshine again this morning as we have cloud cover along the east coast.  Another gray start to the day with clear sidewalks and streets.  We received no icy coating or snow (thankfully).   Breezes are out of the North at 7-9mph.  It'll be a cloudy, damp, gray day with temps just about tapping 40° and N-NE breeze at 5-10mph.  Late tonight... 60% chance of rain showers as temps drop to the mid-upper 30s and NE breezes pick up at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... more grayness with 50% chance of rain.

Not A Total Washout Presidents Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  So far, it's a repeat of yesterday morning... gray skies, NE winds at 18-22mph making it feel like 21°.  We had some freezing rain overnight and the ol' back porch still has has some icy spots. Not much white / wet (ice) surfaces otherwise.  We'll be staying dry for a few more hours then the rains come (90% chance); as do the winds.  Expect a rainy day with temps in the mid-30s feeling like mid-20s with the blustery NE 20-30mph winds.  Tonight... windy with showers off and on (60% chance), temps in the low-30s and those (stuck to us like glue) N-NE winds at 20-30mph.  Tomorrow... overcast, 15% chance of a spritz or two with balmy temps... 40° and N-NE winds at 10-15mph and a steady rain coming after that Valentine's Day dinner.  President's Day (Monday) will be a day with more rain and less winds and a high of 40°.

Another Gray, Cold Day

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the N-NE at 15-20mph making it feel like 15° when stepping out the door.  The cold air suddenly takes your breath away.  We're under cloud cover as Ms Sun's making her way through as she rises (any moment now).  Not sure how much we'll see of her although there is a clear sky right above the horizon.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day again with a high of 33° and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... more cloud cover, temps just about tapping 30° with NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... more cloud cover with freezing rain possible beginning late in the morning as temps will be in the low-mid 30s and you guessed it... NE winds at 15-25mph.  Chance of precipitation is 40%.  Sunday... almost a repeat of Saturday with showers in the morning, cloud cover in the afternoon, low-mid 30s and NE winds.  Here's a warm, bright spot... the Boardwalk's (26th Street) "Sam's Pizza" opens today for the start of their weekend season for now!

Northeast Winds - New Moon

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  We're coated in white (about an inch) as we've had snow showers including a mix of rain and snow as well as a mix of ice and snow throughout the night and into the early morning hours. Everything's glistening in crunchy white as a wintry mix of rain and snow (icy pellets) is coming down and adhering to surfaces.  It's all wind driven too from the NE at 10-20mph.  Oh... the windchill is 24° and it's perfectly miserable outside.  In a perfect world, there would be no pandemic and I'd be on my way to New Orleans for a week of Mardi Gras.
For today's weather, expect rain and snow (and icy pellets) this morning.  By this afternoon, it should be just overcast and gray. Temps will get up into the mid-30s with NE winds at 10-20mph creating that windchill of 27°.  No one's committing to any sunshine today.  Tonight... cloudy with a low of 26° and N-NE winds at 10-20mph with more windchill.  Today's the New Moon and the Tides are much higher than normal.  There could be salt water in the streets to avoid so take heed.  Tomorrow... dry, considerable cloudiness (minimal peeks of sun), low-30s and NE winds 10-20mph.  Saturday... cloudy start to the day with wintry mix by mid-day.  Sunday... looks like a rainy day since temps will be around 40°.  All throughout the weekend... NE winds.  In the words of Harry Nilsson... "Banking off the NE winds, sailing on a summer breeze, skipping over the ocean like a stone."  These "NE winds" keep repeating in my
head this morning.  But, so does that recipe for Minestrone soup that I'll be making today!  So does a nice warm fire!  It's exactly 4 weeks today that we put Freddy down.  I've tried keeping up with the daily blog photo tributes to him along with my weather reports and I made a promise to myself that after a month, I'd pull back and lay low on the Freddy photos. I'll throw one up there every now and then as the healing continues.  Most days are normal now, but that damn grief still sneaks up on you big time when you least expect it.

Mix Of Sun And Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partial cloud cover as Ms Sun is being blocked and who knows when we'll see the sunshine pour on to the island.  It is brightening though and I'm optimistic.  Breezes are light out of the N-NE at 4-6mph.  We're supposed to get a mix of sun and clouds today with temps in the mid-upper 30s.  N-NW winds will be around 5-10mph.  Tonight... total cloud cover with 90% chance of snow showers, low of 31° and East winds at 10-15mph.  We may get more than a dusting on this one... 1-3 inches are on the weather snow accumulation menu.  Tomorrow... snow showers in the morning that will taper off by the afternoon giving way to cloudy skies with temps in the mid-30s.  Winds will be much stiffer tomorrow out of the NE at 10-20mph.  Friday... snow showers and/or flurries the first half of the day with sunshine by the afternoon.  Saturday's looking gray and cold with snow showers are once again scheduled to return. Sunday... starting out with rain and ending with clear skies.

Mostly Wet Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining with winds out of the East at 7-10mph.  Expect a mostly gray day with occasional rain showers (100% chance).  Temps will be around the low-mid 40s with North winds at 5-10mph.  By late this afternoon / early evening the rains should be done with us and by nightfall... be gone as we'll just have partly cloudy skies.  Tonight's temps will drop into the upper 20s with North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... kicking off hump day with sunny conditions as clouds begin to filter in by the afternoon, high of 38° as temps begin dropping to 30° for the evening.  By overnight we may very well be blanketed (an inch or so) with the white stuff as snow showers are on the forecast.  For Thursday and Friday, another storm is hitting our Coast.  So far it appears to be a wintry mix of rain and snow for a 2-day event.  We could see a layer to an inch or maybe slightly more.  So far, nothing to be too concerned over except for the New Moon which creates increased Tides just like the Full Moon does.  Just be aware of the chance of some tidal flooding in low-lying areas.  I've got my eye on that next storm though.  Today's "Freddy-shots" are of some family and friends taking time to hold him (which Freddy loved).
