Memorial Day

Mornin'! It's Memorial Day!  It's time to reflect on all the lives who served to give us our Freedoms.  It's difficult to use the term "Happy" Memorial Day.  There's truly nothing "happy" about it.  Enjoy your holiday today but never forget those who gave up their life for us and our liberties. Today we remember and honor those who have paid that ultimate sacrifice. 

It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 95% with a dewpoint of 65°; winds are out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  We're drenched here on the island as we just had a couple major thunderstorms pass through for the last hour or so.  That's what woke me this morning.  Everything just got nicely watered and the streets are still a bit on the floody-side as they're draining while I type.  The island birds seem to all be celebrating their Memorial Day morning showers.
It'll be mostly wet today as this rain system that's passed and is over the ocean now, may be the prelude to the rest of those developing storms headed our way.  We might see peeks of sun this morning, but by the afternoon, there's a 90% chance of more stormy weather passing over us.  Temps will be in the low-mid 70s with South winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms, becoming partly cloudy late into the overnight, temps back to the mid-upper 60s and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps near 80°, and West winds at 10-15mph.

The Intensity Continues

And, So It Begins...

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's way up there at 91%.  It's not raining either.  But, it is gray and cloudy as Ms Sun's trying her best to break through the morning clouds. My guess is she's not going to make it.  It's heavy, still and quiet at the moment. Rain is coming in a few hours so they say.  The holiday weekend is here!  And, this weather isn't the only thing thick on the island.  It just seems like yesterday that my street only had one car parked on it.  No parking available now as the revelers seem to be officially checked in as the "off" season is back "on".

Mornin'!  And, what a beauty it is!  It's 67° with Ms Sun shining brightly and light winds out of the South at 6-8mph.  Blog's a bit late due to grocery shopping at 6:45AM.  I'm back, the groceries are put away and I'm sipping coffee, doing the blog with windows wide open, seabreeze wafting in and birds chirping everywhere in my neighborhood.  It's a lovely Spring morning here on the island. We're going to have mostly sunny skies, temps around 70° and Southerly breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly clear and moonlit with some light clouds in the mix, temps in the low-mid 60s and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Here's where the weather turns. Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to the Hereford Lighthouse who is celebrating its 150th birthday today!  There's a party on the lighthouse grounds from 12-3 today!  I hear there's free hotdogs and ice cream along with lots of other fun things to see and do (111 N. Central Ave.)
It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly through the blue, clear sky.  Winds are out of the N-NE at 10-15mph.  There's a chill in the salty air this morning.  As the sun's glow begins shining through the windows of my home, I can already feel the warmth!  It's been cold, raw and damp the last couple days here on the island but today... we're warming up again somewhat.  Expect a sunny Saturday with temps around 60° and North winds becoming East this afternoon at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clouds filter in and increasing after midnight.  There's a 50% chance of rain. A Crapola Friday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's wet, windy and wild outside this morning.  We're under heavy cloud cover as we had thunder-boomers during the night and early morning with lightning and thunder, as well as short bursts of heavy rain and strong winds.  It's not raining at the moment, but the strong winds out of the E-NE at 20-25mph +gusting are steam rolling over us and seem to have dried things up a bit as the street is barely wet.  These winds are strong and loud as they've been keeping me awake since very early this morning and will be continuing like this all throughout the day.  Expect clouds and strong winds (E-NE at 25-35mph +gusting) with temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Showers are on tap this afternoon (50% chance).  Tonight... there's a Coastal Flood Warning posted (8pm-4am) due to that "New Moon" earlier this week and the wind-driven waters surrounding us.  It'll be cloudy with gusty winds, 25% chance of rain showers, temps in the upper 40s and NE winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps in the upper 50s and E-NE winds much calmer at 10-15mph.  Sunday... rain (60% chance), temps in the upper 50s and SE at 10-15mph.  As for that Coastal Flood Warning... be aware of the high tide times, low-lying areas on the island, and what parts of the island are susceptible to flooding. And remember that the back of the island (marsh-bay side) has high tide an hour later than the ocean's high tide.  Be safe!

More Dampness - New Moon Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's the New Moon today!  It's not a visible moon but does create higher than normal tides.  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got the clouds again as it's gray and still.  Winds are barely there out of the North at 1-2mph.  Expect areas of patchy fog this morning and mostly cloudy skies today.  Temps will be in the mid-60s with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... cloudy.  There's 50% chance of rain after midnight with temps in the upper 50s and S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy start, followed by partial clearing and gradually becoming sunny, temps in the low-mid 70s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  There's a 30% chance of rain tomorrow night.  There's 80% chance of rain on Thursday.  There's a 40% chance on Friday.  Saturday looks to be mostly sunny with temps in the upper 60s.  I thought April brings the showers and the May flowers.  May's doing April's job that's for sure.  We've been wet, dank, and damp lately and flowers are null and void.  I almost forget that dry, light airy, blue sky feeling that we should be having.

Mornin'!  Happy Cinco De Mayo!  May's moving right along at a decent clip.  She's bringing some crapola weather right along with her.  It was so much brighter, warmer and summer-like at the end of April.  I may as well mention that the week ahead isn't looking too appealing.  It'll be cloudy and rainy every day next week except for Wednesday which will be partly sunny.  I'm getting ahead of myself.  The reason I'm getting a late start on the blog today is the weather. I went right to the gym first thing (I got a gym membership from hubby for Christmas) and took full advantage of the lousy weather and did my thing. Walking and/or bicycling isn't happening for me on the streets of Wildwood when it's misty, drippy, windy, and miserable.  There's a good chance I may be at the gym every day this coming week due to this weather.  One thing's for sure, it's been chilly in the house (my house feels the chill more than most) and I'm not turning the furnace back on.  It's been off for weeks and after May 1st, the furnace isn't an option.  I do have a gas fireplace which is a blessing when it becomes too uncomfortable.  Long pants and sweatshirts seem to have been the norm around here.

Mornin'!  Happy May!  It's the first of May and known as May Day around the world. 
It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  May Day is starting out gray here on the island.  Winds are barely there out of the NE at 2-4mph.  These thick, morning clouds will give way to sunshine any time now as we're going to have a sunny 1st day in May.  Winds will be out of the SE at 10-15mph.  Temps will just about tap 70°.  Sounds like a perfect start to May if you ask me.  I can tell you the seagulls once again are already showing their happiness this morning with their loud, competitive chatter and laughter.  Tonight... a few clouds filter in as temps drop into the mid-50s with S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy, temps near 70° and Southerly breezes at 10-20mph.  As for this coming weekend, it looks like Saturday will be cooler with temps in the upper-50s as it'll be cloudy and breezy with 25% chance of rain.  We'll  have 60% chance of rain on Saturday night.  Sunday... looks like a washout with rain first thing in the morning and then all day into the night, temps in the low-60s with SE winds.
