See You Later February!

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies with a colorful painted horizon as Ms Sun's due up any moment now.  Winds are light out of the North at 8-10mph.  February's going to give us one last beautiful winter's day as she bids adieu.  Expect a sunny day with temps around 40° and N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, low around 32° and SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, high of 50° with Southerly winds at 10-20mph.  At this time, it appears we won't have any rain until Saturday but I'll keep you posted.  February was certainly kind to us this year as it kicked off with a meltdown of January's snow as well as only giving us a couple frosty (one was a thin white layer of snow on Valentines Day) mornings. I'm sure our snow days are now limited as we very seldom get snow in March. We do get major blustery, relenting, persistent winds that have labeled March "My Least Favorite Month".  I think it's because I'm a Philly girl and in the big city, March provided lots of Spring-time peeks of warmth as well as the beginning of blooms and buds and a feeling of nice weather right on the doorstep.  Not here along the Coast.  March roars like a Lion here.  It can be very annoying.  I have to admit that last year, March wasn't as brutal as it usually is and one can only hope it repeats this year.  March will kick off with not only winds tomorrow but a New Moon as well.  Those high tides will be much higher than normal!  Until next year February... Cheerio!

February's Closing Its Door

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with breezes out of the W-NW at 8-11mph.  It feels cold and damp outside.  The sound of the ocean's waves crashing can be heard in the far away distance (6+ blocks) thanks to those insulating clouds.  These morning clouds will give way to sunshine by the afternoon.  Temps will get up near 50° with blustery West winds at 10-20mph.  Water droplets off the crests (tops) of breaking waves are generated and called "spume droplets" aka rooster or cocks combs when windy. It's pretty cool as the ocean's overflowing with them as far as the eye can see on those real blustery days. March (the windiest of all the months) will not disappoint I'm sure as I'm sure we'll have more winds than any other month.  Tonight... clear skies, cold around 29° with NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... the last day of February will go out mainly sunny, high of 37° and N-NE winds at 10-20mph.

Presidents Weekend

Mornin'!  Happy President's Day Weekend!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and sunny with breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.  Everything's got a layer of frost outside.  We're back into the crispy, winter tundra this morning.  I guess it could be worse if those March-type W-SW at 25-35mph were checked in which is due to happen early this afternoon.  Expect a sunny day early with some clouds filtering in and those winds heading our way.  Temps will rise into the mid-upper 40s and with those crazy winds in full force gusting up to 50mph it'll feel like upper 20s.  Tonight... clear, moonlit skies, gusty winds (NW 25-35mph +gusting).  Tomorrow... mainly sunny, high near 35° and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Monday... sunny with seasonable temps in the mid-upper 40s and SW winds at 10-15mph.

TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover with winds out of the W-SW at 25-30mph +gusting.  It feels like it's raining lightly but hard to tell due to the winds.  When it's this blustery you can feel the island's moisture in the gusts as that "Taste Of March Sloughing" is preparing us for next month.  We're going to start out with some showers this morning as the day will remain windy (W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting).  Temps will get into the upper 50s.  Chance of rain is 80%.  By late this afternoon, we'll probably see peeks of sunshine as temps drop into the upper 30s / low 40s.  Tonight... clouds clearing out, temps begin dropping big time to the mid-upper 20s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny start followed by partly cloudy skies in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s.  Those "March-Preview" winds will be back tomorrow out of the W-SW at 25-35mph +gusting.  Sunday... sunny, temps in the mid-upper 30s with NW winds shifting to the SW at 10-20mph.  It's Sam's Pizza opening day if you're up for some yummy pizza this weekend. Mack's Pizza is my favorite and usually doesn't open for the season until the end of March.  Sam's certainly is the next best!

Valentine's Day

Mornin'!  Happy Valentine's Day!  It's 22° in Wildwood NJ feeling like 12° with the windchill.  We had a little light snow overnight and some surfaces are crispy white outside.  We're under clear skies with Ms Sun over the horizon turning everything the color of apricot.  Winds are a little stiff out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a mostly sunny start to the day.  Expect sunshine with some clouds filtering in as the skies could become partly cloudy later bring some snow showers (50% chance). We'll have a high of 31° feeling like 20° with N-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... mostly clear skies, temps around 20° and those N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, high around 35° and W-NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Temps are going to rise up again this week (into the upper 40s / low 50s) beginning tomorrow into Friday.  But, Thursday night into Friday morning, another storm will be at our coast giving us rain and winds along with those 50° temps.  So far that's what's forecasted.  Oh, and the Full Moon is this Wednesday so you know the drill about the extra high tides. Big Game Day

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's breezy with N-NE winds at 13-17mph.  We're dry.  So much for waking to the wet stuff as no moisture came throughout the night as was forecasted.  We're under thick cloud cover and will be throughout the day and at least until tomorrow morning.  It'll be 180° in the weather department as we had a sunny 63° day yesterday. Today's temps will be around where they are now... mid-upper 30s.  It's feeling damp and raw at the moment.  We're supposed to get periods of moisture a little later beginning with rain becoming snow by this afternoon (80% chance).   Snowfall will continue until later tonight.  Those N-NE winds will stay checked in at 10-20mph.  Tonight... snow showers with breaks by late tonight.  Temps will drop to the low-20s with winds switching up somewhat out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cold with temps barely tapping 30° with intervals of clouds and sun and NW winds at 15-25mph.

The Last Of "The Spring Teasers"

North Wildwood - This morning's web cam shot

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  We're once again  under clear pre-dawn skies.  The horizon looks like a Bob Ross original with all the vibrant pastels.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 5-10mph.  It feels incredibly mild outside.  We're in for another beautiful day down the Shore.  Expect a mostly sunny day with temps in the mid-upper 50s and West winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight.... things begin to diverse as another wet, winter storm system has its sites on the Coast beginning after midnight.  We're going to get cloudy tonight while rains and/or a wintry mix begin overnight (60% chance) as temps drop to the low-30s.  W-NW will be 10-15mph. Tomorrow... mid-30s feeling like mid-20s with moisture coming down.  It could be icy rain, snowy mix or just rain but something wet is on its way making for a crappy Sunday. There was mention of "accumulation" which is now less than an inch.  My salute just ran across my forehead in relief.  By "chili and wing feasting" game time, the precipitation should be out of here and be just a cloudy evening.  It's going to feel really cold tonight after this mild week as temps drop to the upper 20s (feeling like 19° due to the winds).  Monday... we're back to a seasonably cold (30°), sunny day.  Hubby's making some of his delicious chili for tomorrow.  And, I'm making the homemade soup today for this weekend: Potato Leek.  It's all part of the game plan.

The Hits Keep On Coming

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under dark, starlit, moonlit skies with hardly a breeze out of the E-SE at 2-4mph.  The beautiful weather continues as we're going to have plentiful sunshine and temps tapping 50° again today.  Who knows maybe even as warm as yesterday (we reached 59°)?  Today's breezes will ramp up though out of the S-SE at 15-25mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the low-mid 40s and S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... sunshine with some clouds in the mix and a high near 54° with West winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... still looking like a wet, raw, windy, cold (low-30s) day with snow showers and a possibility of a couple inches of snow.  By late afternoon / early evening, the sky should clear as we see Ms Sun setting.  She's been setting later and later if you've been noticing. More Winter Loveliness On Tap

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under starlit, pre-dawn skies with light breezes out of the W-SW at 3-7mph.  It's another "keeper" today.  Expect plenty of sunshine with temps in the low-50s (not a typo)!  Winds will be out of the W-SW at 5-10mph.  Some afternoon clouds could filter in but for the most part, a sunny day.  Tonight... light cloud cover with temps back down into the mid-30s with light and variable breezes.  Tomorrow... more of the same; sunshine and temps in the upper 40s.  Saturday... still mild temps, and a bit more cloudy.  Sunday... a wet cold front is heading over the island with occasional snow showers, stiff breezes out of the N-NW at 10-20mph and temps in the low-mid 30s.  Get out and enjoy the next few days!  Oh, and by the way, this date marks 12 years (Feb 2010)  that we had a blizzard that crippled Wildwood. We had an equivalent to a Hurricane Category I storm making an almost direct hit to our region encasing us with 24"+ of snow and ice. We were without power for 6 days as all electric lines were down; literally laying on the ground.  I always like to think that if it weren't for that bad boy, we would have never held our fists to the sky and proclaimed that "When this is behind us, we're going to Key West".  And we did.  We left for our very first Key West vacation in less than 2 months after the storm pummeled us.  We've been going faithfully ever since making it our vacation spot year after year!  In some weird way, I have that Alberta Clipper to thank.

Mornin'!  It's 27° in frosty Wildwood NJ.  Everything outside is covered in a layer of frost.  We're under clear, pre-dawn skies with breezes out of the E-SE at 2-3mph.  It's going to be a perfect Winter's day with plentiful sunshine, temps in the mid-40s and S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear, star-lit and moonlit skies with temps in the mid-upper 30s and S-SW winds at 5-10mph (the Full Moon is next Wednesday by the way).  Tomorrow... even better with sunny skies and high near 50°!   Might as well include Friday and Saturday... as they'll follow suit with these winter weather beauties finishing out the week.  Sunday... not so much.  There's another winter storm system heading toward us on Sunday. We could get an inch of the white stuff as precipitation (rain/wintry mix/snow) along with some stiff NE winds will be giving us a wind chill of low-20s making for a cold, wet, windy, raw day.  Enjoy the rest of this week!

Sunday's Loads Of Sunshine

Mornin'!  It's 21° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 12°.  We're under clear, still rather dark skies with Ms Sun about to cross the bright, colorful horizon.  Breezes are out of the N-NE at 5-10mph.  Expect loads of sunshine in the clear, blue sky today with a high of 36° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, followed by cloudy skies overnight and temps in the low 30s.  Winds will be out of the NE at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with a few morning showers becoming a steady rain by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the low 40s with N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... periods of rain, low 30s and N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  After we get through Monday's potential rainy day, it looks like plenty of sunshine next week with not-so-bad winds and seasonable temps (30s-40s).

Sunny, Blustery Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  Feels like 18° with the windchill.  My back deck is a sheet of ice.  For whatever reason, the front of my house seems dry without any ice coating. Winter won't quit as it's icy cold outside with ice here and there.  Be careful out there.  Winds are out of the NW at 15-20mph +gusting. It's cloudy at the moment along the horizon as Ms Sun's rising as it's much clearer sky on the marsh/bay side of the island. We're not going to see any sunshine until later this morning as these early  morning clouds give way to a mostly sunny sky today.  Hopefully, we'll see somewhat of a warm up a bit later today with the sunshine and temps in the mid-30s. The NW winds at 15-25mph surely won't be helping with any warm up as they'll be giving us a windchill of 21° so remember the scarf and gloves!  Tonight... clear, starlit sky with a temps in the upper teens feeling like single digits with the North winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... feeling milder with sunny skies, high of 36° and not as blustery with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Monday... cloudy with rain showers by late morning and temps in the upper 30s/low 40s.

First Friday

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  The white stuff is gone!!!  I had to rub my eyes when looking out my windows this morning in disbelief.  I checked most of the webcams in Wildwood and the surrounding areas too and the white stuff is gone!  Well, there's a little on the boardwalk but once we get through these remnants of Landon today and tonight... we'll no doubt be good to go.  It's currently loud outside with the gusty, howling winds and the sound of the ocean's roar (thanks to all the thick insulating cloud cover).  Winds are out of the S-SW at 20-25mph.  It's a bit dingy and bleak outside with the gray skies and now not-so-bright ground cover.  Rain is due in.  Expect some rain showers today (90% chance) with a high of 51° falling to 40° by later this afternoon.  S-SW winds are staying here until tonight and they'll be strong out at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... showers early in the evening with cloudy skies overnight as temps drop to the low-mid 20s and winds switching from the SW to the NW at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain tonight... 50%.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly sunny, high of 31° and NW winds at 15-25mph.  Sunday... sunny, high of 33° with light NE breezes.  We could see rain showers returning Monday afternoon (75% chance) but after that... sunshine all through next week!

We're Melting!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  Not much in breezes at 3-5ph coming from the S-SE.  Unlike the breezes, there's plenty of moisture in the air.  We're not having any rain but humidity's at 99%.  We had thick, heavy fog overnight and we're on major meltdown as the sounds of dripping is the first thing noted when stepping outside.  The sound of the ocean's roar is also loud and clear thanks to the cloud cover.  It'll be a cloudy day with showers early then just cloudy later.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with Southerly winds at 7-10mph.  The meltdown continues!  Tonight... cloudy with periods of rain developing overnight.  Temps will still be in the mid-40s with S-SW winds at 20-30mph.  Chance of rain is 90%.  Tomorrow... cloudy and windy with 90% chance of rain.  Even more meltdown and washing down of the island happening as we may hit 50°!  Blustery S-SW winds  at 20-30mph will still be checked in.  Tomorrow night the temps drop down into the low-20s as the rains begin to disappear late in the evening.  For the weekend... Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of 30° and Sunday will be sunny with a high of 35°.

2-2-22 - Groundhog Day

Today's North Wildwood Webcam
Mornin'!  Six more weeks of winter predicts that ol' chubby rodent.  I'm over it all groundhog or not.  As winter continues... It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are light at 3-5mph out of the NE.  We're still blanketed in loads of the white stuff and add to that all the overnight frost layered everywhere including all those cleared surfaces.  Everything's glistening in a layer of frost.  Temps are going to climb today and hopefully help this meltdown continue.  We've barely had much melting but it is happening very slowly right under our noses.  It'll be a partly cloudy day with a high of 43° and very light breezes.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, a slight chance of a rain shower (15%) and a low of 39° with Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more cloud cover, 22% chance of a rain shower and a high of 48° along with those Southerly breezes kicked up a notch at 10-20mph.  Winter Storm Landon still has us in its sights on us along with 2,000 miles of our country.  He'll be arriving here along the coast on Friday.  This bad boy is huge and will begin as a major rain event along with those warmer temps, then turns to an ice event by Friday night as the temps drop into the 20s.  It's this icing we're supposed to get that has me concerned.

Welcome February! Happy Lunar New Year!

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling like 16° with the N-NE winds at 10-12mph.  Welcome February and Happy Lunar New Year!  Today marks the beginning of the calendar year whose months are "Moon Cycles" based on the lunar calendar.  It typically begins with the first New Moon and spans the first 15 days of the first month of the lunar calendar until that Full Moon arrives on February 16th.
It's dark, starlit, cold and clear outside this early morn.  Sunrise is less than an hour away.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with a high of 39° and those NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly to mostly cloudy, temps in the low-30s and N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with temps in the low-mid 40s and light and variable winds.  Thursday... cloudy skies with temps in the upper 40s.  Hopefully, with all these not-so-frigid temps the next few days, we'll begin seeing a slow, progressive meltdown of this incredibly vast amount of snow still covering Wildwood.  If now, we're in for some serious flooding issues as another winter storm has plans to check in on Friday.  And, this one looks like a major rain event turning to an icy wintry mix.  Best case scenario... nice meltdown then a nice cleansing with rainfall with no flooding and the island once again clear of the white stuff.  We can only hope.
