Until Next Year May...

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and bright with all the neighborhood birds chirping and squawking. Breezes wift (waft) over the island from the West at 10-15mph.  The birds are probably celebrating that they've made it through yet more storms.  We 've all had to deal with at least 3 different thunderstorms this week.  Last night was no exception as once again there's no need for me to pull the garden hose out to water the gardens as Mother Nature's been providing plenty of watering. But, the focus is right now... as May is leaving us with a beauty as it's perfectly lovely outside this morning.  It's clear and clean with that light marsh breeze and no humidity.  It'll be a sunny, warmish day with temps tapping 80° and winds out of the W-NW switching this afternoon from the W-SW all at 9-11mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 60s/ low 70s and breezes out of the South at 4-7mph.  Tomorrow... it's now looking partly to mostly cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 70s.  There's a very slight chance (20% chance) of a passing thunderstorm tomorrow night.  Sunday... 50% chance of rain beginning in the morning and by the evening... 60% chance.  Thanks for providing all your watering May as your showers have provided us with June flowers!  See you next year!

Sunny and Warm but Unsettled Again

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with no breezes. Everything's watered again from last night's thunderstorms and another nice soaking.   I could cut and paste the last couple days weather forecast into today's blog entry as we're about to have another rerun.  Expect hazy sunshine and temps in the upper 70s / low 80s (yesterday hit 85°) with breezes out of the SE at 9-12mph.  Humidity's high at 80-85%.  By this afternoon, the clouds begin to thicken as there's a 50-60% chance of more thunderstorms headed this way.  That chance will continue into the night as temps drop into the upper 60s / low 70s and with breezes out of the S-SW at 8-13mph.  Yesterday and last night's news and the breaking story / big story was the damaging tornadoes in the mid-west and Ohio valley.  Yesterday the suburbs of Philadelphia in Bucks County was seriously hammered with major storms and reported hail and winds and what they think was a tornado.  The Wildwoods lucked out again with thunder, lightning, heavy rain and major winds.  No damage other than some tree branches and trash strewn around along with neighboring outdoor furniture which was no match for the storms.  My thoughts are with those in the mid-west.  The news reports were just unbelievable as they appear to have received the worst of it.  Unfortunately, we're to expect more of the same today so keep it all hunkered down for at least another day but expect a reprieve from the unsettled, stormy weather at least for tomorrow and Saturday.  Sunday... not so much as more rain and possibly storms are in the forecast again.

Hump Day Mix

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining down.  Not much breeze (W-SW 3-5mph).  The neighborhood seagulls are loudly arguing over something in someone's trash bag right on my street corner.  That was my alarm clock at 5:45a.m. this morning.  A couple of them were really angry too.  It's a lovely morning out there otherwise... calm, fragrant and sunny.  Expect sunny skies this morning and mostly throughout the day.  We'll inevitably see cloud cover as there's a 40% chance of a scattered strong thunderstorm later today.  Temps are going to tap that 80° mark with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... 60% chance of rain and/or storms with temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and WSW winds at 5-10mph.  Every night so far this week, we've been getting a nice watering with some hefty thunderstorms so remember to keep your eye on the sky when those dark, ominous clouds drift in and the rumble of thunder is in the distance.  These storms have been packing a punch.  I'm just happy that my outdoor plants are responding so nicely with daily watering!

Unsettled Birthday Weather

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  Today's blog entry is dedicated to my hubby who's celebrating his birthday!  Happy Birthday, honey.  I love you!  Unfortunately, I can't write about the recent perfect weather continuing from this holiday weekend as it looks like a wet one today.  It's clear now as Ms Sun's about to rise and shine but it's all going to change.  Current breezes are light out of the South at 5-7mph as that will be changing big time too.  Here's today's weather story... it'll be clear in the early morning as clouds begin to drift over and cover the island doing their best to block out Ms Sun.  She will peek through at times but there's a 60% chance of scattered showers and strong storms late in the morning and/or early afternoon.  Some storms could produce very gusty winds and heavy rain.  Temps will be tapping 70° with Southerly winds at 15-25mph.  There's a 40% chance of rain and/or scattered thunderstorms late afternoon / early evening too.  Tonight... clouds remain over us with a 50% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms. Temps in the upper 60s and winds out of the SW 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... looking sunny but a slight chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm afternoon midday with a high of 78°.

Memorial Day 2019

Mornin'!  Happy Memorial Day!  It's 67° with sunny, cloudless skies.  It's calm with very light breezes out of the North at 2-4mph.  We had another soaking last night (a little street flooding as well) from the thunder-boomers and heavy rainfall.  It's like being in tropics as Wildwood hit 87° yesterday with some humidity thrown in which nicely fed that thunderstorm last night.  It's looking summery and nice for the holiday today.  Expect plenty of sunshine with some clouds thrown in the mix and temps not quite as warm as yesterday... upper 70s / low 80s.  Breezes will be out of the East at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 6-10mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with temps barely tapping 70° and a 40% chance of a passing shower around midday.  Take time to honor those who have given their lives for our freedom this Memorial Day.  Today is all about them.  Oh... safe travels when leaving the Coast along with hundreds of thousands of others today.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  It's bright and sunny with hardly a breeze (West 5-7mph).  We're in the thick of it now as cars are parked illegally everywhere on my street and I'm sure all over this island.  They're even parked over prohibited yellow lines in my street and in front of driveways (not mine thankfully).  It's crazy here.  We had a very intense watering with a nice thunderstorm overnight and even though it appears fresh and clean out there, that lovely fishy fragrance of the marsh/wetlands hits you the minute you walk outside.  It'll be the first really warmish day here with temps in the low-80s and partly sunny skies.  Breezes will be light out of the W-SW at 7-10mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the W-NW at 6-9mph.  We may have a repeat last night as there's a 40% chance of thunderstorms again.  Tomorrow... we may be waking to rain as there's a 50% chance of showers to kick off Memorial Day but it should just be partly cloudy (peeks of sun) with cooler temps than today (upper 60s/low 70s).

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Mornin'!  Happy Memorial Day weekend!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with a light breeze out of the E-SE at 8-13mph.  It'll be a pleasant day with temps on the cool side as we probably won't even hit the 70° mark today.  Breezes will remain out of the E-SE at 9-13mph with mostly clear skies.  Clouds roll in this evening (early) and by tonight there's a 40% chance of showers in the forecast.  Temps will stay in the 60s tonight with breezes out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... much warmer (tapping 80°) with partly sunny/partly cloudy skies and breezes maintaining that 10-15mph but out of the W-SW.  Monday... partly sunny/partly cloudy and temps in the low-70s.  The island's thick with weekend vacationers.  As my hubby said, "You couldn't park a bike in the grocery store parking lot" after driving by it yesterday.  A "bloated" island or not, I'm happy for this spectacular weather this holiday season opener!

Happy Memorial Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's here!  Happy Memorial weekend!  We've all made it through a few seasons to get to this point again... our season "Home Opener".  The flags and kites are waving in the salty breeze!  This year's Memorial weekend weather is cooperating big time.  Ms Sun's up, light breezes are out of the NW at 8-10mph and Keenan's Bar opened its doors at 6:30 this morning to kick off their 20th season for "Eggs with Peg"!  New Jersey Avenue will be strewn with buzzed revelers beginning right about now.
The weather will be lovely this weekend with plenty of sunshine and light warm breezes.  Today... temps will be in the mid-upper 70s (possibly tapping 80°) with W-NW breezes at 15-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 60s and N-NE breezes at 9-13mph.  Tomorrow... just about the same but a tiny bit cooler (upper 60s / low 70s) and Sunday... partly sunny (clouds join in the mix) with temps in the mid-upper 70s) and Monday... possible morning showers and those slightly cooler temps (low 70s).  Overall... looking 5-star for the kick-off season.  Happy Memorial Day Weekend 2019!  And, for all who have served in our Military and have given the ultimate sacrifice... their lives... we remember, reflect and salute you this weekend!

Weather Mix Today

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under mostly cloud cover with breezes out of the South at 10-15mph.  Ms Sun has risen and is trying to shine along the horizon at the ocean but it seems like the clouds are winning this contest.  She is peeking through at times making for a picturesque morning along the beach.  Even though there's a chance (50%) of scattered rain and thunderstorms today, we could also see peeks of sun as temps tap 70°.  A couple forecasts I've checked reported "strong" thunderstorms by this afternoon with heavy and possibly damaging winds out of the South at 20-30mph.  One forecast mentioned "hail".  Just saying.  Hunker down and make sure all "stuff" outside is safe from being damaged, blown over or blown away. Tonight... 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms, then partly cloudy after midnight.  Temps in the low-60s with winds out of the W-SW at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow begins that stretch of really nice weather for the holiday weekend... plentiful sunshine with seasonable temps (upper 60s / low 70s).  Yesterday was a beauty and even with doing the grocery shopping and a bike ride on the boardwalk, I managed to get 7 more windows (including window curtains) cleaned before making dinner.  Things are moving along nicely in the housecleaning department I'm happy to report.  What I'm not so thrilled about is that annual quick adjustment hubby and I are in the process of making with all the additional inhabitants that have already arrived here at the Shore and those hundreds of thousands yet to make their way to the Coast this weekend.  Even though I'm a city girl at heart and used to sharing my space with lots of folk, I still have a bit of difficulty adjusting to the abrupt and sudden onslaught of vacationers (some rude, loud, fond of beeping horns and just being careless) invading the island and surrounding areas as the huge increase of noise, traffic, way too crowded parking lots, lack of parking spaces, long lines everywhere, construction (there's major construction at Rio Grande and Susquehanna Avenues as well as repairs on the bridge there coming on and off the island) becomes the norm. I'd recommend using North Wildwood to get on and off the island by the way. The crankiness of hubby from all this intensity is the hardest to endure, but this too shall pass.   If you're reading this and intend to head to the Coast this weekend, remember to be aware of those around you and be considerate and kind to one another.  That includes this Earth that we share being cognizant of where you place your trash!  Don't allow it to blow into the sea.  Safe travels!

Hump Day Perfection

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and still with not much in the line of breezes (North 2-3mph).  I left the windows partially cracked open overnight and the island birds are chirping and squawking it seems just for me!  The aroma of the marsh seems to have seeped inside the house too.  It couldn't get any better than that for a wakeup.  Today's weather will almost be an exact repeat of yesterday with a little more cloud cover and less wind.  Expect a mostly sunny day (clouds enter the skies in the afternoon making it partly sunny).  Temps will be in the upper 60s / low 70s.  Winds will be all over the place beginning later this morning from the North to the N-NE to E-SE in the afternoon and later from the South all at 6-8mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with breezes out of the S-SW at 6-9mph and temps around 60°.  Tomorrow looks like more clouds check in with temps in the mid-upper 60s.  And, at this time, the upcoming holiday weekend is looking pretty much 5-star with plenty of sunshine and seasonal temps (60s and 70s).  Rain showers could be passing through Monday morning.  I'll be keeping an eye on that one.  As for my window cleaning project... it's ongoing and "to be continued" as yesterday was a break from it to enjoy that fantastic weather by biking around the island and boardwalk!  Who knows what today brings?!

Another Lovely Spring Day!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with a light breeze out of the N-NW at 8-11mph.  Wildwood actually hit 79° for a high yesterday!  It was fantastic!  I saw on a Philly TV news channel that they repeatedly kept saying that Wildwood hit 86° yesterday and that is exactly the reason I began blogging about the weather.  I don't know where Philly gets its resources for the weather here along the coast, but they got it wrong as usual.  I even went right to my porch thermometer to check... 79° yesterday for a high.   It was the first time this year that I had to make the decision to either hit the beach and just sit and gel all day or begin the project of washing windows in my house.  Since it was sunny, warm and lovely and the fact that there are 21 windows in my house, I opted to start the project and took the time to do five of them with the help of my hubby.   Oh, that included screens scrubbed as well as window treatments laundered, ironed and replaced.  That looked and felt very good this morning.
Today's weather will be a little bit different than yesterday as it will stay on the cooler side with temps getting into the upper 60s and possibly the low-70s with partly sunny / partly cloudy skies and breezes out of the NW at 15-18mph.  We may have mostly cloudy skies by later this afternoon. Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps where they are now... low-60s and N-NW breezes at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow... almost a repeat of today.  Sounds like perfect weather for more window cleaning!

Monday Mix Of Sun And Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It's bright with some morning sunshine but partly cloudy with those off-shore milky clouds.  Ms Sun's doing what she can to shine through.  There's a light breeze out of the North at 3-5mph.  It's very nice outside.  It'll be a pleasant Monday with temps heading up to the low - mid 70s (perhaps even warmer as one forecast reported) and breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.   It'll be a mostly sunny to start to the day with thicker clouds rolling in by this afternoon as there's a 35% chance of scattered showers a little later.  Tonight... a mix of clear skies and cloudy skies with temps back down into the mid-60s and SW breezes at 8-11mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same weather without the chance of scattered showers.

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and moonlit.  Breezes are almost unnoticeable out of the S-SE at 2-4mph.  Clouds will roll in this morning bringing a 40% chance of rain.  Once through, it'll be a partly cloudy day with peeks of sun and temps just about tapping 70°.  Winds will be out of the S-SE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly clear with clouds in the mix as temps drop down into the low 60s and breezes out of the South at 14-18mph.  It looks like tomorrow will be mostly cloudy as well with a 30-40% chance of a shower in the afternoon.  Temps will stay mild though... upper 60s / low 70s.

Full Moon Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely morning with plenty of sunshine and hardly a breeze out of the North at 2-4mph. It's the first time this season that all my house windows are wide open allowing that very light, cool sea breeze to wift (waft) in.  Not to mention sounds of the neighborhood seagulls and island birds are everywhere laughing and chirping displaying their high spirits. It'll be a pleasant Saturday with no rain in the forecast as it'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy with temps rising just a bit... upper 60s / low 70s.  Breezes will switch from the East at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 50s and breezes out of the S-SE at 5-10mph. We just might see that awesome full moon rise if the clouds allow it.  Speaking of Full Moon... I noticed yesterday at high tide that there was flooding in the streets in the low-lying areas.  Be aware that it's salt water so try not to drive through it as it's corrosive and damaging to the underside of your vehicle.  And, remember that high tide on the ocean side is an hour before the high tide on the back bay/marsh side.   And, tomorrow's weather appears to be a repeat of today!  Monday coming in with showers off and on throughout the day.

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and sunny (Ms Sun rose an hour or so ago).  There's a light breeze out of the S-SW at 5-10mph.  It's lovely.  The fragrance of the sea and the sounds of the seagulls are making the morning stunning.  Today we'll have a mostly sunny start with increasing clouds and showers possibly developing by late afternoon / early evening (40% chance). Temps will be heading into the low-mid 70s! Winds will ramp up a bit still out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms early as temps drop back down into the low-60s.  W-NW winds at 5-10mph will be blowing around as well as a 30% chance of a passing isolated shower.  Tomorrow... no rain or isolated showers in the forecast.  There is a mix of cloud and sun but it should be a pleasant, sunny day with temps in the mid-upper 60s.  Sunday... is now looking pretty good with sunny skies as those rains I mentioned before look to be holding out until Tuesday!  The Full Moon is this weekend and I'll be posting Moon Rise times (that is if the cloud cover decides not to interfere).

Thursday Mix

Mornin'!  I'm back!  After returning on our last leg of our trip yesterday on the Cape May - Lewes Ferry, the unpacking and settling into our cozy home began!  It feels good to be home again!  It's so nice this morning here in Wildwood.  We had a wonderful week in Athens, Georgia with our daughter and son-in-law.  We had some cooler weather as well as a little taste of summer too!  Mother's Day was fantastic as we enjoyed brunch in a 1915 southern mansion turned into a lovely restaurant (Five and Ten)  reminiscent of those Cape May mansions we have here.  There's nothing nicer than dining in that type of ambiance.  It's 57° (that's what it was in Fayetteville, NC as we began the 2nd leg of our journey home this time yesterday morning too)!  We're currently under partly covered skies with no breezes to note here in Wildwood.  It's calm and quiet with the island birds everywhere making their presence known.  I'm enjoying their morning chatter as I can also smell the briny goodness of the sea air as I type.  I have the porch window cracked open ever so slightly allowing the outside in.  I may be closing that window later this morning though as there's the possibility of rain in the morning forecast (50% chance).  Rain showers are posted for later this morning / early afternoon with temps in the mid-upper 60s.  It won't be a washout as Ms Sun's in today's mix too.  It looks like a partly sunny / partly day.  Winds will be first out of the West at 10-15mph, then shift from the W-SW and then tonight... S-SW.   Tonight... partly cloudy with temps where they are now - mid-50s with those S-SW winds at 5-10mph.    Tomorrow looks like a repeat of today with the chance (30%) of a passing shower or thunderstorm early evening.  The weekend's looking eh... 50-50.  There's a Full Moon this weekend on Saturday as it's looking like a partly sunny, mild day.  Sunday's looking cloudier with the possibility of rain showers.

In The Words Of Willie...

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  This entry is dedicated to my first born... my daughter who's birthday it is today!  A very happy birthday to you! I'm on my way!
It's cloudy with breezes out of the North at 4-6 mph.  It'll be a cloudy start to the day with peeks of sun later in the afternoon. Temps will be in the low 60s with breezes shifting from the East by the afternoon at 10-15mph.  By evening the skies will begin to clear out and become starlit as temps head back to the mid-upper 50s with Easterly breezes at 10-15mph. Tomorrow's looking like a mix of clouds and sun with the possibility of a passing shower during the day and at night.  Temps will stay mild though.  The weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday being the cloudy day and Sunday being the rainy day.  And, in the Words of Willie Nelson... "On the road again..."  Hubby and I are heading South (Georgia) to spend a few days with our daughter and son-in-law.  In just an hour or so we'll be on the Cape May ferry heading to Delaware for the start to our road trip.  And, in our new wheels!  Just a couple of weeks ago we decided it was time to downsize and trade in each of our vehicles for one.  It's a retirement thing.  The realization that one vehicle being sufficient happened.  This new ride will certainly make the long drive to Georgia more fun.   As usual, our daughter's birthday falls around Mother's day and we intend to celebrate both while with her (I actually brought her home from the hospital on Mother's day way back when).  For all my faithful readers... it's time for another short hiatus from weather blogging.  I'll be back up and running with my daily weather report a couple days before the next Full Moon... next Thursday (the 16th) morning I'll be sitting right here God willing.  If you're interested in Wildwood's weather simply click on "Wunderground Weather" on my blog page at the bottom of my "Personal Favs" and type in 08260 (Wildwood's zip code) at the top of the Wunderground page and you'll have a near-perfect weather forecast at your fingertips. Hump Day Mix

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under some partly cloud covered skies with no breezes to note.  It should make for a perfectly beautiful sunrise as Ms Sun rises and tries to break through those morning clouds. That briny, fishy aroma's outside as the island's fragrant and quiet (except for happy birds chirping and squawking from every direction).  It's a near perfect Spring morning in my opinion.  Expect some sunshine but with partly cloudy conditions this morning and then increasing clouds as the day progresses.  Showers may be here by early evening (40% chance).  Temps will climb just a bit to the lower 60s.  Breezes will commence later this morning out of the E-NE at 10-20mph.  Tonight... chance of rain showers (40%) as it'll be overcast and cloudy.  Temps back down into the low 50s with E-NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow looks mostly cloudy with peeks of sun and temps around where they are today.  The weekend's looking 50-50 with clouds on Saturday with rain appearing in the evening and then rain on Sunday (90% chance).

More Loveliness

Regina (our oldest daughter) and me posing with those potted gardens of mine
Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies as Ms Sun rose about a half an hour ago.  There's a small strip of clouds along the horizon only making for a more picturesque sunrise.  Breezes are hardly noticeable out of the S-SE at 5-8mph.  It looks like another lovely (dry) day as it'll be a mostly sunny / partly cloudy day with temps in the upper 50s / low 60s.  Breezes will shift to the South at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with temps around the same as they are today and S-SW breezes at 10-15mph.  Yesterday was a perfect day for finishing up my outdoor planting as I came upon the seedling tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs, and flowering plants for my summer gardens (Home Depot) and at a great price (4 for $10.00). I prefer small tomatoes (cherry, grape, patio) as I grow all my veggies in big pots.  I haven't had any luck with finding those desired type of tomato plants until yesterday.  I've even been to local nurseries with no luck.  My soil was prepped with compost and sphagnum peat moss just waiting for their arrival.  I spent yesterday afternoon planting everything giving them all a drink of fish emulsion afterward. Now we wait to see what mother nature provides this year!  It's an exciting time as life is good.  My plan was to have all the gardens planted and completed before our trek South to Georgia to visit our oldest daughter for her birthday and Mother's Day!  It's happening... in 2 more days!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in soggy Wildwood NJ.  As I type, I'm being touched with morning sunshine!!!  Ms Sun's shining through the leftover clouds and right into my front porch windows and on to my face!  It's feeling great.  I was just beginning to forget what morning sunshine felt like!  Good Day Sunshine!  It'll be a mostly sunny day as we begin to dry out again.  We've been truly soggy as of late.  I actually put the gas fireplace on last evening for a little while  to take the chill out of the house as it's been so raw and damp.  Today's temps will be in the low 60s with breezes out of the E-SE at 8-10mph.  They're currently out of the North at 8-10mph but will shift by midday.  Tonight... partly clear / partly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the S-SE at 5-8mph.  Tomorrow... more sunshine, warmer temps with a light breeze.  Now, that's the way it's done May!

No Sun Cinco De Mayo

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Cinco De Mayo!  We're under thick cloud cover with light breezes out of the North at 5-10mph.  We had another good soaking with more of that heavy rainfall overnight and everything's been watered very nicely. Compared to the last couple of mornings, it's clearer as the fog and mist seems to have lifted but the clouds are dark and ominous.  Expect cloud cover throughout the entire day as we've got a 75% chance of rain today with temps in the upper 50s / low 60s.  Winds are light now and will ramp up out of the N-NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 40% chance of rain and temps in the low-mid 50s with N-NE breezes at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns as we really begin the dry-out and warm-up!

It's Moist Happening Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  We're in the soup this morning as the island's thick with fog.  It's quiet except for the ocean waves crashing 6+ blocks away and of course the island birds awakening (they're what woke me).  I've got the porch window next to me opened about 3 inches and the morning damp air seeping in is actually lovely.  I'm sipping coffee while blogging and the homemade coffee cake is baking in the oven.  It's all seems to fit for this damp, misty, chilly morning.   Today's weather will be a mix.  Expect fog this morning.  It'll be a cloudy day without much in the line of sun peeking through.  There's a 40% chance of scattered rain showers and/or thunderstorms developing this afternoon.  Temps will get in the mid-upper 60s with SE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... more cloudiness with 80% chance of rain.  Temps will head back to where they are now (mid-50s) and breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow looks like a mostly rainy (crapola) day (90% chance).  It's the New Moon today which means much higher tides.  We had a pretty good saturation of torrential rain on Thursday night and nowhere near being dried out. No doubt we're going to see rain this weekend and with that said... keep in mind that the streets will probably flood thanks to those tides.  Don't drive through flood waters and if you're in a low-lying area... watch where you park your vehicles.  Just be cognizant.
There are lots of things going on this weekend plus there are a lot of visitors here.  I noticed the streets and driveways filling up yesterday and last evening.  Morey's is having a new event... Morey's Wildwoodstock Spring Festival which is enticing folks here. https://www.moreyspiers.com/event/wildwoodstock  Late last evening when I stood in the dark quietness on my back porch, I could hear the chain pulling up the roller coaster cars and the screams of the riders in the far off distance as everyone was enjoying the amusement pier action. It seems it's the official start to another summer season. I even checked the local live webcams and there was a nice crowd enjoying the town. Thankfully, the weather was holding out for everyone as the fog covered the island keeping things cool and misty.  I've had the awesome experience once riding the roller coaster in the fog and it's really neat.  Oh, and today is the big annual Wildwood Crest Yard Sale.  The entire borough opens their yards, driveways, and garages to display and sell their trash (another one's treasure).  It's one of my favorites.  And it's the Kentucky Derby which means the bars and pubs will be packed with revelers.  It's a pretty big kickoff weekend for the Wildwoods!  Unfortunately, the weather will be "iffy".  Just keep your rain gear nearby and you might want to keep the "wellies" close at hand as well!

Clouds and Grayness Abound

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got misty, foggy, cloudy conditions at the moment.  Winds are out of the North at 5-10mph.  We're saturated and soggy from last night's storms.  We were blasted with some hefty thunderboomers and enough rain and wind to almost make me scream out "Auntie Em"!  The pooch was hiding under the furniture trembling most of the evening.  After spending most of the day yesterday gardening, pruning, raking, sweeping and getting the outside property in tip-top shape, it looks like it needs to be done all over again.  There are pollen buds, broken branches, torn off leaves and debris stuck everywhere in the leftover wetness.  And, of course it was trash night so those that placed their trash and recycle out at the curbs have trash and recycle strewn everywhere in the neighborhood. Okay, enough of complaining.  We're lucky to have gotten through a pretty major storm without any damage or injury.  Grateful.
As for the weather... it'll be a wet, misty, foggy start to the day.  Expect a mostly cloudy day with a 20% chance of a passing shower. We may see some peeks of Ms Sun in the afternoon.  Temps will rise into the upper 50s / low 60s with winds out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with a 20% chance of showers as temps hover around the mid-upper 50s with winds out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with 30-40% chance of showers and Sunday... 80% chance of showers.  I think April and May may have reversed their roles as May showers will probably be bringing June flowers.  Oh, I almost forgot... the New Moon is tomorrow and that means higher than normal tides.  Last night's storm did come at high tide as the nearby harbor was in my street!

A Mixed Bag

TBT - circa 1958
Me (on the right) and my Sister on one of our Wildwood family vacations
Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  Due to a little insomnia last night, I slept in this morning.  This is when retirement truly comes in handy.  I woke to Ms Sun trying her best to peek through my room-darkening curtains as well as some contractor jackhammering someone's sidewalk a half a block away.  Construction waits for no one down the shore... retirees, insomniacs, vacationers, sick folk etc.  Anyway... it's a really lovely Spring morning out there with no breezes to note, sun pouring down and warmish temps.  I think we may have had a light shower overnight.  I know there was thick fog out there when I turned in and all those outdoor plants got a nice dose of water droplets.  It's going up to the mid-upper 70s today with partly sunny / partly cloudy skies and breezes out of the W-SW at 5-7mph.  Breezes will switch to the South by dinner time.  Tonight... clouds really roll in as there's a 65% chance of rain by way of showers and/or thunderstorms passing through. Temps will drop down to lower 60s with breezes out of the SE / then NE at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow looks like we'll begin and end with the possibility of showers (40% chance).  The weekend's looking "eh" with Saturday being the dryer and sunnier (still chances of showers) and Sunday looking like a "washout".

May Day!

The front lawn of North Wildwood City Hall
Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Welcome, May!  It's going to be on the chilly side without much sunshine this first of May. We may see peeks of sunshine (late morning and early evening).  It's currently cloudy and cool with a light breeze (North winds at 6-11mph).  Expect a mostly cloudy day with temps in the upper 50s.  There's a 30% chance of a stray shower passing through with blustery East winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms, temps in the mid-50s with S-SW breezes at 10-20mph. The temps could get up into the 70s again tomorrow (like yesterday).  But, there's a 20% chance of rain showers the remainder of the week.  However on Sunday... 90% chance of rain.
