Memorial Weekend 2026

Mornin'!  Happy Memorial Weekend 2026!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels more like 52° with those E-NE winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  It also feels just as it should on Memorial Weekend down the Shore.  There are many of these miserable kick off to summer weekends in the history books.  It's raining lightly along with those winds making for a nice salt facial peel.  This is actually the calm before the storm with morning showers evolving into a steady, soaking rain this afternoon (100% chance) and don't forget to include those winds.  Rainfall will near ½" with local heavy rain possible. Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining brightly.  There are no clouds in the deep blue sky and winds are out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  I'd say it's perfectly lovely outside.  We got into the low-80s yesterday and we'll probably see that again today.  The forecast actually says it'll be in the upper 70s with plenty of sunshine and with winds ramping up out of the S-SW at 15-25mph.  Tonight... still breezy with clear skies, temps in the mid-60s and S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Just after sunset tonight, Venus will be bright in the sky, low in the west with the crescent Moon to the left.  If you find Venus, follow an imaginary line between Venus and the Moon and extend that line upwards and you'll see another bright 'star' which is Jupiter.  If you have a clear sky, you'll no doubt see these three celestial bodies just when the sun sets. Mornin'!  Lucy, I'm home!  It was yet another wonderful Mother's Day and long weekend with my family.  I will admit, that ol' salt air and sound of the gulls was almost just as wonderful as hubby and I sailed the Ferry home to Cape May!  Leaving the South (Georgia) and their summer weather and lushness was a bit of a struggle but I realize that Wildwood's only weeks away from that heat and humidity.  38 days until Summer to be exact.
It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  It's currently cloudy and gloomy.  We had some light rain only minutes ago.  In fact, we had a good watering overnight. This morning rain looks like it'll stick around for a little while more and check out by this afternoon as these rain clouds move on over and provide a little sunshine on the island.  We'll definitely see breaks of sunshine today.  Temps will get into the mid-60s.  It's currently still with barely a breeze out of the NW and will ramp up at 10-20mph by late afternoon / early evening.  Tonight... partly clear with some clouds in the mix, temps down to 50° and NW winds still sticking around at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 60s and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-50s and West winds at 10-15mph.  As for this weekend... Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and isn't quite shining brightly thanks to some clouds along the coast.  Winds are out of the S-SW at 10-15mph. Sunday Winds Are Checking In

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cold with NW winds at 10-20mph making it feeling even colder (42° is more like it).  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly but is currently engaging with some clouds along the coast but still lighting up the deep blue sky as it all makes sense.  It's quite lovely actually.  The seagulls are enjoying mating season as it sounds like they're having a very good time this morning with their squawking and screeching everywhere.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with gusty winds. Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly to mostly cloudy at the moment with breezes out of the SW at 2-4mph.  That chance of rain today that I've been reporting since Wednesday seems null and void now.  Although one forecast I checked is still saying 30% chance of rain showers this afternoon.  Everyone else is reporting no rain today.  I guess it remains to be seen (or felt depending where you're at).  For now... it appears like it's just a cloudy day on tap with temps near 60° and winds at 5-10mph out of the W-NW.  The next chance of rain seems like it'll be Thursday.  For tonight... cloud cover becomes partly cloudy with temps in the mid-40s and N-NW winds at 10-20mph. Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly in the cloudless sky.  Winds are light out of the N-NW at 5-10mph.  It's a chilly but lovely morning down the Shore and perfect as we welcome May!  Happy May Day!  It'll be lovely with plentiful sunshine, temps near 60° and on the windy side with NW winds shifting to the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... 40% chance of rain as clouds will filter in and provide occasional showers into the overnight, temps in the upper 40s with S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower (15% chance), temps in the upper 50s and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... mostly clear, temps in the mid-upper 40s and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... plentiful sunshine, temps in the upper 50s and NW winds at 15-25mph.  Sunday night... a few clouds passing through, temps in the upper 40s and W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  The Full "Flower" Moon is tonight and the first of two Full Moons this month (the other is May 31st).  These two May Full Moons are considered "micromoons" or an apogee full moon.  They occur when the full moon coincides with the point in its orbit that is farthest from Earth.  It'll appear 14% smaller and 30% dimmer than usual full moons.  Hopefully, tonight's clouds won't interfere with that Full "Flower" Moon.

Mostly Cloudy Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly cloudy with light winds out of the SE at 2-4mph.  Upon waking this morning, an orange/red glow was peeking in the windows as Ms Sun was rising.  The sky was bright crimson over the ocean.  My first thoughts... "red sky in the morning, sailors take warning".  Stormy weather-is-a-coming!  Expect a partly to mostly cloudy day with temps in the low-60s and light SE breezes increasing to 10-20mph.  Tonight... the storm will be on our doorstep with 90% chance of rain starting between 7-9pm, temps around 50° and SE winds at 10-20mph.  We could see locally heavy rainfall with this storm system.  Keep in mind, the tides are higher than normal due to the upcoming full moon (Friday) and with heavy rain during the high tide times (which will be tonight), know you're low-lying areas that will potentially flood.  If necessary, move your vehicle to higher ground, don't drive through flood waters and be aware of flood sirens that could sound during the rainfall and high tide times.  Also, remember that the back bay/marsh area will be high tide an hour later than the ocean's high tide.  Tomorrow... 20% chance of rain kicking off the day followed by afternoon sunshine, temps in the low-60s and W-NW winds at 10-20mph. Sunny Start Turns Into A Cloudy Day

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the NE at 20-30mph +gusting making it feel more like 37°.  There's a "gale warning" in effect from now (6AM) until tonight at 8PM.  It's gray and misty with that ol' ocean spray and whatever those clouds are dishing out.  It's a miserable morning out there.  And, it'll be like that all day at least until around 5 or 6 o'clock when we could see peeks of sun.  Could make for a nice sunset tonight albeit windy. Earth Day

Mornin'!  Happy Earth Day!  Founded in 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson following a massive oil spill.  Our planet is an amazing place and always needing our help to thrive!  Each year on this date, more than a billion people celebrate the Earth in some way and do what they can to protect our planet from things like pollution and deforestation.  By taking part in activities (which should be done on a daily basis not just once a year) such as not throwing or leaving trash thoughtlessly, picking up litter even when it's not yours. Remember, trash and plastics inevitably get blown into the ocean and marsh and as the fish consume our trash and plastics, then we consume the fish. They suggest planting trees, create a pollinator garden for bees and butterflies, composting, recycling, switch to reusable items, reducing meat consumption, keep from impulsively allowing water to run, turning off lights etc. The lights left on is sore spot for me. It's amazing the number of residents who come to their homes here just weekends and off and on during the summer but leave their outdoor (and some indoor) lights on throughout the entire year.  Why???  It's disgraceful.  It's wasteful energy providing light pollution at its very worst.  Not only are their outdoor lights shining into my home, there's no star-gazing as the sky is no longer clearly visible at night or how about saving electric with all their lighting carelessly left on especially in the dead of Winter. Let's all try to be more conscientious and keep our world a more thoughtful, happier, healthier place.

Mornin'!  It's a balmy 66° in Wildwood NJ this early morning.  Breezes are out of the W-NW at 5-10mph and it's partly cloudy.  There's a 70% chance of a passing, isolated rain shower this morning but for the most part it'll be a mostly sunny day.  Temps will be in the low-mid 70s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  We just about tapped 80° again yesterday as our summer preview was fantastic!  Tonight... partly cloudy becoming overcast overnight, temps down into the low-50s and N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a mostly gray day with 25% chance of rain, temps in the upper 50s and East winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... overcast, temps in the low-50s and SE winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... a miserable day with mostly likely rain along with wind.  Expect a cooler day with 60% chance of rain, temps in the upper 50s and NW winds at 20-30mph.  Sunday night... have the blankets handy as temps will drop into the mid-upper 40s with NW winds at 5-10mph, rain clouds will check out as it'll be clear overnight.  Monday... partly to mostly sunny, temps in the low-50s and W-NW winds at 10-20mph. Monday night... partly cloudy skies, temps in the upper 30s (cover those delicate shrubs outside) and North winds at 10-20mph giving us that creepy windchill.  It's the "New Moon" today meaning it's the first lunar phase which marks the beginning of the 29 day lunar cycle when the Sun and Moon are aligned. It occurs when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and Sun, rendering it invisible from Earth.  Although we can't see the moon, it still has the same pull on our tides and you'll notice that the high tides are much higher than normal.  You may even see water seeping onto the island.  I'd think twice if considering driving through salt water.

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly cloudy with Ms Sun trying to rise and shine through it all.  She's beginning to paint the sky those lovely corals of hers.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 4-7 mph.  There are lots of island birds giving their all letting us all know of their excitement to this very lovely morning down the Shore.  It'll be a sunny start with clouds increasing this afternoon as temps rise into the mid-upper 70s.  By the way, we got to 83° yesterday!  Winds will ramp up a bit out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly clear with some cloudiness here and there, temps in the low-60s and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly cloudy, temps in the low-mid 70s with West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps in the low-mid 50s and E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday... mix of sun and clouds early, becoming cloudy later in the day, and a 20% chance of rain, cooler temps in the upper 50s with East winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday night... partly cloudy becoming overcast, 30% chance of rain, temps in the low-50s with S-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... 60% chance of rain showers, winds stiff at 20-30mph out of the W-NW and temps in the low-60s.  Sunday night... 25% chance of rain as clouds begin to clear out, much colder with temps in the low-mid 40s and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Monday.. except for a few afternoon clouds, mainly sunny with temps in the low-mid 50s and NW winds blustery at 15-25mph making it feel very cold in my opinion.  This time of year makes you notice how cold the ocean is (50°) and how it brings that chilly off-shore breeze with stiff winds.  Spring runs cooler here than on the mainland.

A Little Preview Of Summer

Mornin'!  A day of remembrance as the Titanic sunk today at 2:20AM in 1912.  Over 1500 lives were lost.  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  Sunrise is only minutes away and the sky is just lovely with all its beautiful pastel colors on the sky's (clouds) pallete just along the Atlantic's horizon.  Winds are light out of the SW at 5-7mph.  They're saying "record high temperatures" today with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 70s.  SW winds will ramp up a bit at 10-20mph.  Tonight... a few clouds, temps where they are now... 60° and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... intervals of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-70s again and S-SW winds will still be stiff at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... a few clouds from time to time, temps still around 60° throughout the night and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Friday (New Moon)... mostly sunny once we get through some early cloud cover, temps in the mid-70s and West winds at 10-15mph.  Friday night... clear, temps in the low-mid 50s and N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  As for this weekend... Saturday looks like the nicer of the two days albeit mostly cloudy with peeks of sunshine, much cooler than during this "preview of summer" week with temps around 60° and Easterly winds at 10-20mph (and a 20% chance of rain).  Sunday looks gray and windy with 70% chance of rain, temps around 60° and West winds at 15-25mph.
