Beauty

Some ass missing the sunset while focused on his cell phone call
Mornin'!  It's 71° in WW.  It's sunny and quiet (except for the 6:30a.m. wake up call from the young men across the street this morning as they decided to dribble a basketball).  Thank goodness our grandson is here taking the "fit to be tied" edge off.  It'll be a lovely one today as the sun shines down, temps climb up into the upper 70's perhaps even tapping 80° and light and variable breezes out of the SE 8-10mph will wift (I mean waft over us).  Clouds will begin filtering in this evening as temps drop into the upper 60s.  Tomorrow and Monday...30-40% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.

Vacation Friday!

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and running.  The sky is clear.  The breezes are light and lovely.  It's a gorgeous day.  It's my day off!  It'll be a beaut today.  Sunny with light breezes (N-NE at 5-10mph) and temps in the mid to upper 70s.  Tonight...back into low 60s.  First up...out to breakfast, then to the fish store for some clams and the catch of the day, then to the beach for a couple hours, then ready the place for the family arriving later today including my baby grandson!  Life is good! Oh...the weekend's looking eh...ok.  Tomorrow temps and humidity increases with mostly sunny (clouds in the mix) conditions and Sunday and Monday still a slight possibility of showers.  That possibility has decreased over the last day or two, so gotta keep watching!

TGIF (Actually it's Thursday)

Mornin'!  It's 73° this breezy morn in Wildwood.  The sky is clear with fading stars twinkling as Ms Sun's due up next.  It'll be another lovely day at the Shore this TGIF of mine (I'm off from work beginning tomorrow for the next 4 days so this is officially my Friday)!  Temps will be in the low-80s as the sun shines.  There's several things that could hamper a good beach day as some clouds will be filtering in and stiff breezes are due in.  Eh...it's nothing a sandchair sitting away from the light, fluffy, blowing sand can't help fix.  The winds are currently out of the NW at 16-20mph and will stay ramped up most of the day.  Tonight, they'll simmer down NW at 5-10mph as temps drop back into the low-mid 60s.  These winds are providing a coastal warning of Rip Currents again so swim by a lifeguard if going in for an ocean dip. The weekend's still holding at 50-50...Saturday being the better of the days as Sunday and Monday still have 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms and/or showers.

Summer's Back!

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  Ms Sun's waiting her turn as she'll be making her move across the horizon and welcoming the day in about a ½ hour or so.  Not much in the line of breezes as not a leaf on the tree out front is moving.  It's very still and quiet (except for the next door neighbor who still is blasting his TV from last evening). It'll be a repeat of yesterday albeit a tad warmer with increased humidity along with some periods of cloud cover.  Temps will be in the low-80s with breezes very light from the S-SE at 5-7mph.  Tonight...mild back into the upper 60s with breezes shifting from the W-SW at 5-10mph and a slight chance of an overnight shower or two.
Tomorrow, Friday and now Saturday are looking good!  Sunday and Monday look like there's still a chance of showers on both of those days.

Midst of a Warm Up

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood.  We're currently under clear, starlit skies.  (Speaking of stars...sky watchers, who are eagerly waiting to witness a celestial wonder (Double Moons) tomorrow night, will be disappointed to know that the appearance of two moons, on Wednesday, 27 August, is a hoax. It's Saturn and Mars coming adjacent to each other. It surely is a nice sight but for a layman it'll look like another star. Amateur astronomers might be able to make out the difference).  For today...a bit of a warming trend as the temps get to tapping the 80s while the Ms Sun pours down in the cloudless, abundant blue sky.  Breezes (none at the moment) will commence later from the NE initially and shift this afternoon from the SE all at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow looks like more of the same.  Unfortunately, every forecast I've checked is saying the weekend's looking very "iffy"...like Saturday (least likely chance), Sunday and Monday all have chances of rain in the forecast.  Not good but I'll continue my holiday weekend weather watch!

A Keeper

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  It's a keeper as it's looking like a real nice week ahead...you picked a good one if this is your vacation week!   It's got that September morn feel to it this morning! ( http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=september+morn&qpvt=september+morn&FORM=VDRE ). The sky is clear as Ms Sun works her magic as she crosses the horizon in a few minutes. Sun, sun, sun and more sun with blue sky beach days and lovely evenings.  Today's temps will be in the mid-70s and each day this week will be a bit warmer and warmer as we go along.  Winds will be quieter than yesterday coming from the East at 10-15mph and quieting down by later this afternoon at 5-8mph.  That tropical storm Cristobol that's parallel to our coast way out in the Atlantic is heading in the opposite direction and won't effect us.  There's a "new" moon today which does effect us in the same way a full moon does...tides as high as the moon can throw at us so keep an eyebrow up for any flood waters (don't ride through it...very corrosive).  The only problem is the Rips (rip currents) and they're intense.  Swim close to a lifeguard and listen to what they say.
Don't let a near-drowning ruin your vacation!

Abundant breezes and sunshine

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood.  It's clear.  It's sunny.  It's windy.  It's gonna be another windy one as breezes are the main attraction again today...out of the NE 15-25mph +gusting.  It's amazing what the winds will do.  For one, the house is full of lovely sea air with all the windows open as well as doing a nice pruning to my trees but the ocean looks incredible with the waves being pushed by those NE breezes...white caps as far as the eye can see!  Seems like the winds are a magnet for the sailboats too as there were quite a few out in the ocean yesterday.   Not great surfing waves but some major rough water play. Ok...so today will be pretty much a repeat of yesterday except the clouds will be mostly outta here.  The sky is clear as Ms Sun's checked in for a couple days.   Temps will be in the mid-70's.  Tonight...clear with temps back into the low-60s as the winds calm down.

Just heard...A 6.0 magnitude earthquake woke up our west neighbors living in northern California this morning. The earthquake's epicenter was located about six miles south-southwest of Napa and 51 miles west-southwest of Sacramento about 3:20 a.m. local time (6:20a.m. eastern time), according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It's the largest tremor to shake the Bay Area since the 1989 6.9 magnitude Loma Prieta quake, the USGS told the Associated Press. There was no immediate report of injuries.

Like I said before...50-50

Mornin'!  It's 72° this sunny, breezy morn at the Shore.  The window curtains are having a party this morning!  It's lovely.  It'll be a breezy one today as winds are out of the E-NE at 15-20 +gusting.  There's a chance of a late morning spritz but it'll be staying mostly dry.  Plenty of cloud cover in the mix today as Ms Sun tries her best to shine on the island which she's doing at the moment.  Temps will hover around the upper 70's and may tap 80°.  Tonight...mostly clear and remaining breezy with temps back into the 60s.  The other half of this weekend...clouds will be heading up the road as they check out leaving Ms Sun on her own while the temperatures remain mild and in the mid-70s.

Mostly Gray Day

Mornin'! It's 70° in Wildwood.  It's raining lightly.  We were hammered overnight with thunderstorms and torrential rain as well as some sections of the island received hail.  The bedroom had that ol' strobe light effect with loud cracking thunder in the middle of the night as I ran around shutting windows.  Right now according to the doppler, it looks like the island's in the clear although there's a chance of spotty showers and/or a thunderstorm later this morning.  There's a breeze from the East at 5-10mph with some ramped up gusts here and there and that will stay that way throughout the day and evening.  Most forecasts are saying cloudy with some peeks of sun by late morning/early this afternoon and then by late afternoon/early evening more cloud cover and more chances of rain showers (50%).  Temps will barely get out of the 70s.  Tonight...even more chances of rain showers with temps in the upper 60s.  The weekend's looking 50-50...Saturday starting out cloudy w/possible showers as Ms Sun checks in later in the day staying right through Sunday which is looking picture perfect!

Looking Pretty Good

Mornin'!  It's 70° in Wildwood.  It's windless and still.  Ms Sun's minutes away and today there are no clouds to interfere with her rising.  It'll be another lovely day as temps reach the 80s as the sun shines.  Breezes will eventually wift (I mean waft) in from the S-SE at 5-10mph.  There's an 20% chance of a scattered thunderstorm later this afternoon and an 80% chance tonight as a slow moving cold front passes through bringing temps back into the 70s.  Tomorrow...clearing out quite nicely after some morning showers. Saturday's looking better than originally predicted as it'll be mostly sunny yet cooler while Sunday remains even a bit cooler with Ms Sun staying checked in!

Abundant Lovlieness

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood.  No breezes this morning.  Ms Sun's due up in less than a half hour and I doubt if any cloud cover will impede her morning presentation.  It'll be mostly sunny today with temps climbing up into the low-80s. Humidity will be lower than yesterday.  Breezes will be out of the E-NE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...some cloud cover with temps back into the mid-60s.  Scattered showers are on the bill for the next few days.  The weekend's looking "iffy" again as all the forecast are changing their tunes from picture perfect to chance of rain (especially Saturday).  Today though...get out the camera!

Repeat of Yesterday? Remains to be seen!

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood.  Humidity's back along with thick, dark, ominous clouds as well as some ramped up breezes in the mix this early  morning.  It looks like we're in for a morning thunderstorm or something dark looming above.  The doppler looks like there's a little something right over the Cape area but we're getting no moisture except for the humidity.  The forecast for today looks decent as everyone says a repeat of yesterday with sun shining down and temps tapping the 80s.  Breezes will stay ramped up a bit out of the E-NE at 10-20mph.  Tonight...clear with breezes and temps back down into the mid-60s.  Looks like we've got awhile until Ms Sun shows herself and my bets are down...she's on her way!

Nice Start To The Week

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood.  There's a very light breeze as the clouds have given this lovely morning to Ms. Sun.  There may be some cloud cover but all forecasts are saying mostly sunny today.  It'll be another nice day down the shore (yesterday was predicted to be not so but turned out to be perfect with no rain in sight).  Temps will get into the upper 70s possibly tapping 80° as breezes commence out of the N-NE initially then shift to the East and shift again from the SE by evening all at 5-10mph. There's a 20% chance of a stray afternoon thunderstorm.  Tonight...partly cloudy with a 40% chance of a thunderstorm after midnight as temps head back into the upper 60s.

Chance of Rain

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and atom with clouds trying their best to block her.  Little do they know how beautiful their coverage make for some extraordinary colors and lovliness in the sky.  It's a bit muggy with some humidity in the mix this morning as well as no breezes to help with that ol' feeling of "clammy".  It'll be a pleasant start to the day as the sun shines, temps climb back into the low 80s but we run the risk of rain later this afternoon.   There's a 30% chance of rain showers and/or thunderstorms beginning around 2-3p.m.  Winds will begin to wift (I mean waft) over the island from the West-Southwest at 10-15mph. Tonight...clearing with temps back into the uperr 60s.  Overall, I'd say a mostly pleasant day!

Tri The Wildwoods!

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood.  It's overcast and looking pretty ominous at the moment.  We weren't supposed to have heavy cloud cover or rain but let me tell ya...it's looking as though those dark clouds will open up any second.  The doppler has nothing there so my guess this is a fleeting mass of nothing.  All but one forecast I've checked said sunny today with clouds mixed in as temps tap the 80° mark and breeze light out of the S-SE at 11-13mph.  At the moment...the breezes have a bit of a chill to them with that dark, overcast sky...hmmmm...I'm seeing a crapola start to the day.  Now, if Ms Sun hits her mark (like I'm watching her try her best to do) then everything's changed.  All forecasts said mostly sunny and nice today.  One did mention a chance of an afternoon shower.  It's the Triathlon, 5K & Kid's Splash & Dash at 15th and the Beach today.  Tomorrow...the 5 Mile Tire Bike Hike on the beach at Schellenger Ave.  Lots of activities on the island this weekend so let's all close our eyes and make a wish for the mostly nice weather all the forecasts predicted for this weekend!  By the way...tonight...mostly clear with temps in the upper 60s and tomorrow's forecast looks sunnier than first predicted too!

More Great Weather!

Mornin'!  It's 64° (touch of Fall in the air this morning) in Wildwood.  The sun's about to rise over the horizon and it's a perfectly lovely start to the day.  I finished yesterday with a sunset sail on our dear friends' boat and it's almost indescribable it was that breathtaking.  Thanks so much for that.  It's going to be another beauty today as temps stay in the 70s while Ms Sun shines brightly all day long in the vivid blue sky.  Breezes will be out of the West...first from the Northwest and shifting later from the Southwest all lightly at 5-10mph.  Same forecast for tomorrow and Sunday still looks like it'll have 30% chance of showers especially in the earlier part of the day.  But, the next 48 hours are looking 5-star!!!  Thank You again for last evening!

A Pleasant Day Down The Shore

Mornin'!  It's 66°!  Guess it's time to give the air conditioner a break.  It's a tad breezy this morning with Westerly breezes at 10-15mph as the clear sky seems to be welcoming the sunrise with open arms.  There's just a smidgen of autumn in the air this morning as the humidity's checked out.  It'll be nice today with seasonably cooler temps as the sun shines in lovely blue skies.  Temps will almost tap the 80° mark as breezes shift a bit and wift (I mean waft) over the island from the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...a little cloud cover in the mix but mostly clear and back into the 60s.  The weekend's still got the 50-50 going on with Saturday being the nicer of the two days.

Hump Day!

Mornin'!  It's 74 muggy degrees in Wildwood.  We got our rains yesterday and last night.  Sometimes the downpours were tropic-like...straight down and intense.  We went unscathed in regard to flooding and at least there's no watering needed for the next couple days.  Ok...it's cloudy as Ms Sun's due up in about a ½ hour or so.  Not sure what kind of display it'll be but clouds mixed with a sunrise could be just the ticket for a lovely photo.  It's humid as hell at the moment.  Since I have the air conditioner on, it hit me like a smack in the face when I walked onto the back porch this morning.  And talk about the fragrance of the sea and marsh permeating the air...whew...thick and heavy (I love it though)!  We're going to have a mix of clouds (more cloud cover in the morning) but mostly sunny day today with temps tapping the 80° mark.  Breezes (nothing at the moment) will be out of the West at 16-19mph.  Tonight...back into the low 70s with breezes ramping up a bit out of the W-NW at 23-26mph under clear, starlit skies.  Let's just mention those breezes again as West winds on the island usually mean green head flies will be wifting (I mean wafting) in with the breeze and those little suckers bite so pack the insect repellant.  West Winds = Greenheads! The weekend weather's looking 50-50 as Saturday's looking like a really beautiful day as evening rain showers enter the mix (40% chance) while Sunday's got some scattered showers in the forecast as well (40% chance). Just saying!

Gray, Dreary, Wet

Mornin'!  It's 74 humid, muggy degrees in Wildwood.  Whew...it's thick out there.  No rain yet but the sky is thickly cloud covered and the breezes are light bringing some aromas of the sea mixed with rain.  I'm so used to the fragrance of the sea and when the aroma of rain is predominate it takes me a second to adjust.  We're to expect rain today, tonight and some of tomorrow.  Get your rainy-day vacation planner out.  It'll be cloudy and dreary with rain showers (heavy at times later into the evening) and a possible thunderstorm or two in the mix. Temps will be in the upper 70s.  Winds are currently E-SE at 4-7mph but will ramp up considerably staying out of the SE at 20-23mph and tonight...25-35mph.

Beautiful Weather Carrying Over For Another Day

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood.  It's very still and quiet.  There's that aroma of the sea in the early morning air.  It'll be another lovely day as Ms Sun's rising as I blog.  Temps will tap the 80° mark as winds wift (I mean waft) in from the E-SE at 10-12mph.  Tonight...30% chance of a late / overnight shower as temps drop back into the upper 60's.  Looking like those overnight showers may stayed checked in for the next 30 hours or so.   The weekend was spectacular weather and perfect beach days as well as those full moon sitings!  You may still have another chance of a full moon (almost full) rise tonight.

A Beautiful Trend with Blue Skies Running Rampant

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood.  Red sky this morning.  I think Ms Sun's the star attraction as it's not as cloudy as the other mornings this week and she's brightening things up big time.  We're about to have one of the finest weekend's at the shore that Weather's got to offer.  It'll be just around 80° with clear, blue skies and hardly any humidity.  Breezes will be light out of the N at 7-9mph.  Tonight...mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph.  Full Moon is this weekend don't forget...a moonrise is always something to see!  Oh by the way...this forecast will repeat tomorrow and Sunday.

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood.  Never got rain or thunderstorms yesterday or overnight  Time to water the gardens.  We've got a repeat of the two previous mornings as cloud cover is predominate competing with Ms Sun.  It's gorgeous though as the sky is lightening and brightening with all kinds of colorful pastels.  Ms Sun will once again win as it'll be another sunny beach day with temps in the low-80s.  Breezes will be light out of the N-NW at 8-10mph.  Tonight...clear and back into the mid-60s.  Tomorrow...more of the same.  Saturday...more of the same. Half Way Until The Autumn Equinox

Mornin'!  We're right smack in the middle of Summer!  It's 71° this cloudy, loud morn.  The ocean's roar is breaking the quietness.   Ms Sun is once again making every effort to be the morning show-stopper but those hazy-lazy clouds are in the mix again.  She'll eventually make her presentation and will be the main event throughout most of the day.  It'll be humid again with mostly sunny skies as clouds will increase giving us a chance of showers/thunderstorms late this afternoon (keep your eye on the sky and/or doppler).  Temps will be in the low-80s.  Winds will be out of the W-NW and shift S-SW at 6-8mph.  Bertha's still looming off our coast way out in the Atlantic, but she's giving us some major surf and rip currents...here's one post I've copied...
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high risk of rip currents implies that wind and/or wave conditions will support the development of very strong rip currents. These rip currents will be life threatening to anyone who enters the surf. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore...which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach patrol. Pay attention to flags and posted signs (You've been warned about the "groins")!
Tonight...A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68 with chance of precipitation 40%.  Oh...tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday...looking like "Perfection" is up ahead!

Rip Currents due to check in today!

Mornin'!  It's 71° this cloudy morn.  There's more of those sunrise clouds today blocking the sun's grand entrance this early morn.  Have no fear as it'll be a lovely day once Ms Sun burns off the grayness.  It'll be mostly to partly sunny today with light and variable breezes (NW to SE at 3-5mph).  Temps will just about tap 80° with more than a touch of humidity thrown in.  Tonight...light breezes with temps back into the low-70s.  Looking like some rain tomorrow (40% chance).  One important thing to note as Hurricane Bertha heads North (in the Atlantic Ocean) is that Wildwood's shoreline will be impacted by bigger swells in our surf.  By this afternoon and into the evening, Bertha will be impacting our coast by bigger wave action and of course rip currents.  Dip carefully and pay close attention to the lifeguards.  If you intend to dip after 5:30p.m. (everyone out of the water as the lifeguards are officially off duty for the day then), you're taking a major risk swimming unguarded and facing those rip currents alone.

Monday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood.  We're currently under cloud cover with quiet, still, fragrant conditions.  A little fishy-fragrance is surrounding the island.  The sun's trying to rise and shine but the clouds are hampering its presentation although the sky is brightening.  It'll be more sunny today than it has been as of late.  We're going to have a mix of clouds and sun with temps reaching the 80s.  Breezes will be out of the West initially then shift from the S-SW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...cloudy with temps back into the upper 60s.  Tomorrow...looking spectacular.  We may have some sporadic, intermediate periods of rain throughout this week.  Just keep checking "Wunderground"  http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=08260

Mornin'!  It's 68° this Sunday morn.  It's cloudy.  It's raining.  It's breezy.  It's a tad stinky.  Well...fishy fragrant is what I think of it as. Speaking of fish...this island is packed to the gills.  Not sure what's going on, but for a rainy summer weekend, this island is swollen with humanity.  No available parking in this neck of the Woods.  The neighborhood late night revelers are once again at peace (time to get out the fog horn). It's actually a lovely, quiet morning to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch; I love mornings like this.  Forecast is "eh" again.  Showers are likely again today with thunderstorms possible after noon (chance of precipitation is 70%).  Rainfall amounts are around a ½". There is a "flood advisory" posted but we're ok on the island right now anyway.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 70s.  Breezes are out of the E-NE and will shift from the East all at 8-10mph.  By later this afternoon the breezes will shift from the SE and rain should turn into a brief shower and then just be overcast.  Tonight...30% chance of a shower with temps dropping back into the 60s.

August Rains Checked In!

Mornin'!  Happy rainy Saturday!  It's 67° under heavy cloud cover.  It's raining lightly in Wildwood although the sky just got very bright.  I'm not sure if it's Ms Sun trying to break through or we're about to get another downpour.  It's been raining all night.  What a great morning to be off from work as the pitter-patter of rain pouring down soothed me right back to sleep earlier.  I love a good rainy day on my day off almost as much as a warm, summer, sunny morn.  The Pooch isn't as content as I am though.  It'll be mostly wet this first weekend in August.  We're expecting 100% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the today (especially the 1st ½ of the day).  Winds will be out of the E-NE at 15-20mph as temps climb back up into the low-mid 70s.  Tonight...60% chance of rain showers as temps drop back into the mid-60s.  Tomorrow...not as wet as our local weatherman says, "More dry than wet with mostly cloudy conditions." Oh...the Shops are gonna be packed today! Now, where'd I put that terrific book I'm reading?

August is here!

Mornin'!  August has arrived!  It's 71° in cloudy, quiet Wildwood.  No winds, breezes, happy birds or sounds of the surf crashing this morning.  It's feeling a bit more humid than it's been in awhile.  Before sitting down, I notice the sky had a reddish hue in the clouds at the horizon.  "Red sky in the morning...sailors take warning." Just saying.  Four different forecasts I've checked all had slightly different variations of today's weather.  So, it's somewhat of a mixed bag...here goes...
It'll be a mix of clouds and sun to start off today but rain's due to check in.  One forecast said chance of rain showers/thunderstorms this afternoon and another said rain is heading this way by this evening (just take an umbrella).  Temps will rise into the upper 70s-low 80s as humidity builds.  Breezes will commence from the S-SE and switch from the East all at 8-10mph.  Tonight...steady rain and back to the mid-60s.  Tomorrow...clouds, thunderstorms/steady rain with some more of the wet stuff Sunday morning and even possibly into Sunday afternoon.  August isn't starting out on a good note that's for sure.  But, I have to say the the first week of August (next week) isn't looking too shabby.
