Happy Halloween!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  It's clear and still and crisp out there.  The fragrance of the island is heavy this early morn...love it!  It'll be a pleasant Fall day as temps get into the mid-upper 50s while breezes will be light out of the NE at 9-10mph.  Tonight...clear as temps stay in the low-mid 50s as it's looking perfect for trick-or-treating at the shore.  Expect some overnight clouds to drift in bringing rain showers which won't be the main attraction as the wind will be.  It's going to be wet and blustery tomorrow as Sunday looks dry and blustery.  Happy Halloween!  High tide:2:36p.m.  Low tide:8:09a.m. and 8:56p.m.   Ocean temp:63°   Sunset:6:01p.m.

Pleasant Fall Day Down the Shore

Wildwood Crest - Crest Pier (the old fishing pier)
Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  We're currently under cloud cover and stillness.  It actually looks like some fog is creeping in.  Perfect for this Halloween season.  No breezes yet but they're expected later this morning from the NW at 11-13mph.  Plenty of sunshine due up as well as Ms Sun will be crossing the horizon at 7:20a.m.  If it looks anything like yesterday's sunrise...whew...we're in for another sunrise show-stopper!  Hard to say now as the fog's looking pretty thick.  So...it'll be pleasant yet chillier than it's been as we'll have sunshine with temps tapping 60° with light breezes.  Tonight...clear and temps down into the upper 40s with breezes about the same...11-12mph from the N-NW.  Looking good for trick-or-treating tomorrow night as rain's waiting in the wings for Saturday (so are the clocks for turning back for the end of daylight savings time)!

Hump Day Drearies

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood.  It's clear and quiet (except for the sound of the surf crashing on shore).  The stars are out and shining brightly again.  It's another lovely autumn morning.  Things are-a-changin' though.  Increased clouds are in the today's forecast as there's a slight chance of an afternoon shower; an even greater chance of an evening shower and 50% chance of rain on the overnight.  Temps will stay in the mid-upper 60s today as breezes commence at 15-18mph from the NW.  Tonight...temps back into the 50s with NW breezes hanging on.  I went to the beach to check out the rocket launch again last night (it was scrubbed Monday night) and thanks to my phone could hear the launch as it was happening with the word "explosion" in the broadcast and sure enough...could actually see the plume of smoke on the Wallops, VA beach from Wildwood's beach.  What an amazing event to witness as the obvious was happening...no rocket in the clear sky yet on the horizon (Virginia's coast) a small, faded plume of smoke from the launch pad's explosion and fire that could be seen emerging from the horizon some 200+ miles away.  Something I'll never forget.

Don't store the beach blankets yet!

Taken at Harpoon Henry's on Beach Drive, Cape May
Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood.  It's once again mild and slightly breezy (SW at 13-18mph) as the island's under clear, starlit skies.  Another lovely morning down the shore.  It'll be yet another Indian Summer day as Ms Sun will be shining down all day while temps climb into the low-mid 70s.  I'd venture to say this could very well be a "beach day".  Tonight...mostly clear with temps dropping down into the low 60s as breezes ramp up a bit from the S-SW at 19-35mph.  Hopefully, the rocket launch that was unsuccessful last night from Wallops Island, VA will be heading to the International Space station tonight right around sunset.Enjoy all this loveliness as tomorrow brings clouds and afternoon showers.  I think my "sandal wearing" days are really becoming few and far between. Today's one of them for sure!

And the Lovely Ones Keep On Coming!

Mornin'!  It's 49° this early morn.  The sky is clear and starlit.  It's quiet and still as Ms Sun lies in wait.  She's due to climb over the horizon around 7:15 or so.  It'll be a pleasant, sunny, autumn summer-like day down the shore as temps reach the low-mid 60s.  Breezes will eventually begin from the W-NW at 9-14mph.  Tonight...back down into the low-50s with breezes switching from the SW at 5-7mph.  Tomorrow...more of the same and Wednesday...still looking like rain. Next weekend...turning the clocks for the ending of daylight savings time (not my fave).

More Summer-like Loveliness

Mornin'!  It's 59° in sunny Wildwood.  It's a breezy, lovely morn as Ms Sun just crossed the horizon while the breezes are wifting (I mean wafting) over the island from the NW at 24-31mph.  The breezes are staying checked in all day and night as the temps stay just about where they are (perhaps hitting the low-60s) while the sky will stay clear and blue.  Looks like no rain until Wednesday.  Tonight...still breezy (not quite as blustery as during the day) with highs in the 50s.  The weekend remains a beauty!

Indian Summer's Heading Our Way

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  It's a lovely clear morn as the stars are still shining brightly.  Not a cloud in the sky at the moment.  I think we're headed for some lovely Indian Summer weather the next few days.  Thankfully it's the weekend and I'll be off from work and able to enjoy it.  Perfect weather for tomorrow night's beach bonfire in North Wildwood!  Today...sunny with breezes ramping up from the NW at 25-30mph as temps level off in the low-mid 60s.  Tonight...clear with breezes simmering down as temps go back into the 50s.  The weekend's looking sunny and mild and warm (possibly low 70s) and much less windier!

Blustery on Jim's birthday!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  It's windy (NW at 27-35mph). We're in the midst of heavy cloud cover but dry.  There's a 50% chance of off and on rain showers this morning into the early afternoon.  The winds will stick around while pushing the clouds out this afternoon as tonight will be mostly clear with calmer breezes (NW at 10-20mph).  Temps today will be in the upper 50s possibly tapping 60°.  It's New Moon day so it'll be floody somewhere on the island depending on the tides.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday still looking good...seasonable and sunny!  Happy Birthday Jimbo!

Hump Day Nor'easter

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  Where's this Nor'easter we're supposed to be waking up to?  Not happening!  That's what I love about blogging the difference in what's forecasted.  As I stood on my back porch this morning...starlit skies and quietness all around.  Not a breeze to write about it.  No rain although we had some thunder, lightning and minimal rain overnight.  I'd say...fairly mild, calm, nice autumn morn.  That's not to say that things will change as every single forecast I've checked (4 of them) say we're in for some stormy, windy, wicked weather (just for the record...my bets are on a mostly dry day with this so called Nor'easter just skipping around us).  But, the forecasts say...windy conditions (N-NE 29-35mph) with periods of heavy rain (100% chance) throughout the day.  Temps will just about tap 60°.  Tonight...more rain and winds (70% chance) with temps down into the low 50s.  Remember the New Moon is tomorrow and we'll surely feel its pull with flooding effects.  Oh...the weekend's still looking like a keeper...sunny and mild.

Another Pleasant One

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  Morning hasn't broken yet but the sky is clear and starlit as Ms Sun's waiting in the wings to rise and shine.  It'll be another lovely autumn day down the shore with mostly sunny and wispy cloudy conditions, light and variable breezes (West-6/7mph) and temps just about tapping 70°.  Tonight...breezes switching from the N-NW as clouds begin rolling in and thickening while temps drop into the low 60s with 90% chance of rain beginning for the overnight and all day tomorrow.  After all that...looking lovely again. The New Moon is in a couple days...take heed on tidal flooding.  Sometimes it's more intense during the New Moon than it is with it Full...just saying.

Monday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit.  The breezes are none.  It's cold and crisp and quiet.  It'll be another lovely fall day at the Shore as temps rise into the low-mid 60s and Ms Sun shines down through some intermediate clouds.  Breezes will begin later from the S-SW at 16-20mph and by tonight 18-25mph.  Tonight will be mostly clear but clouds will roll in and there's a 20% chance of a passing shower.  I began bringing the outdoor tropicals in this weekend.  What a job that is!  But, I know they're happy with being in a warmer environment and will live another year to be carried once again outdoors in the nice weather.  The big daddy Palm is still on the back porch staring me down though.

The Wind Cries Mary (by Jimi Hendrix)

Mornin'!  It's 53° and extremely windy (NW 25-30mph).  It's still dark but you can see the thick cloud cover overhead.  The sky at the horizon is clear so Ms Sun's rise should be pretty significant.  Those Autumnal sunrises and sunsets seem to be off the chart with loveliness.  A weak frontal system is over us bringing the winds with sharp temperature changes as the high today won't be much warmer than the present temp (mid 50s).  It'll be windy all day with mostly sunny conditions.  Tonight...clear and less windy but Jimi will still be singing...winds out of the NW at 17-23mph.  Tomorrow...much of the same.  Tuesday...rain still forecasted.

An Array Of Activites in Store

Mornin'!  It's 61° this clear morning.   Ms Sun's due up any moment.  It's calm and quiet.  There's Doo-Wop and Motorcross in the Wildwood
air though and that'll wake things up today.  Oh...and let's not forget the Lighthouse Challenge on the activity calendar in North Wildwood.  We've got things-a-happening this lovely Fall weekend down the shore.  Today is the annual Fabulous '50s weekend in Wildwood beginning at 11am at Fox Park.  If you like Doo-Wop, vintage vehicles, oldies and old timers doing the jitter bug... (some in full 50's costume)...then come check it out!  It'll be nice weather for the festivities...temps will tap 70° as it'll be mostly sunny.  It's those winds like I said before...hefty this weekend and making their presence known and knocking around the pompadours.  Once they wift (I mean waft) in, it'll be blustery...out of the W-NW at 21-25 +gusting.  Tonight...down into the mid-50s with the winds remaining stiff and relentless.  Those winds will be bringing highs of 50° tomorrow. No rain till Tuesday!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  We're under some cloud cover as the drippy morning's arriving.  The streets are wet and puddled but it's not raining.  We did get some major rainfall overnight.  The sky is now beginning to clear in spots as dry conditions are soon to arrive.  Ms Sun's checking in today with breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph and temps hitting the 70s.  Tonight...upper 50s with breezes remaining out of the SW and clear starlit skies.  No more rain on tap until next Tuesday!

Hump Day Drearies

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood.  It's cloudy and windy with offshore breezes wifting (I mean wafting) in the front windows (S-SE 5-10mph).  You can hear the ocean's roar loud and clear thanks to all that.  Once again, there's a dampness in the air filling my home.  It'll be partly cloudy/partly sunny as cloud cover's on the increase today.  There's an 80% chance of periods of rain and/or thunderstorms later today (late this afternoon).  The Temps will be tapping the 70s as winds will increase from the same direction...on shore S-SE at 26-39mph making a crazy hair day!  Tonight...heavy rain and thunderstorms possible with winds simmering down as temps go back into the low-mid 60s.  Looks rainy tomorrow too btw.

Mostly Sunny Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 66° (no typo) in Wildwood this early morn.  Slept with the bedroom windows open allowing a lovely sea breeze in for a comfy night's sleep.  The only thing is everything feels slightly damp this morning.  Even my slippers felt damp when I slid my feet into them.  Oh...the joys of living on an island.  It's going to be a sunny, mild one today as most of the cloud cover will move over for Ms Sun as temps rise into the low-mid 70s.  I wish I had some of this forecast yesterday on my day off.  Actually, it worked out as yesterday's rainy damp day made for a nice pot of homemade chili and a couple closets straightened up and purged as sweaters replaced shorts and tank tops.  Today will be a bit breezy as winds will be out of the S-SE at 10-20mph.  Tonight...clouds rolling back in and prepping us for some rain for the next few days as winds will stay out of the S-SE and temps drop back into the mid 60s. The weekend's looking A-OK and rainfree at this writing!

Happy Columbus Day! Happy Birthday to my friend Rosie!

Mornin'! Slept in a bit today on my Columbus Day off from work!  Nice and rested and smiling with my steaming cup of coffee!   It's 63° in Wildwood.  It's overcast, breezy and a tiny bit chilly.  I still have windows open (I'm nourished by sea air) just a crack here and there so the house is damp. So far no heat thermostat turned on here yet.  And, my little gas fireplace hasn't been fired up either this Autumn. Temps will get up just a little bit higher and may tap 70°.  Ms Sun's not inclined to drop in today but may "peek" in through the clouds if they thin out.  There is a 10% chance of a spritz or two and my take is misty and damp.  Breezes will be out of the S-SE at 14-20mph.  Tonight back into the low 60s with clouds staying checked in until tomorrow and breezes simmer down a tad.

Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 49° (no typo) in Wildwood.  It's a bit chill-chill this morning!  My husband thought I was being a bit dramatic saying "ew....it's cold out there" when I was on the back porch checking weather conditions and my thermometer.  He thinks it's a great fall morning but I'm feeling it's time to start hauling all our tropical plants back into the house for the upcoming cold season.  My Jasmine, Croton, Palms and some cactus and other plants won't handle 40° temps for long.  Hey but it is bright and sunny this morning with the recent cloud cover completely outta here all day.  The breezes are light from the N-NE at 10-12mph.  Temps will reach the mid-60s today as the sun pours down.  Tonight...partly cloudy with temps fallen down into the mid-50s as the breezes wift (I mean waft) over the island from the E-SE at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow...even more cloudy and overcast with a slight chance of rain showers.  Enjoy the sun's rays today!

Mornin'!  It's 58° in breezy, moist Wildwood.  It's been raining since last night and currently just misty out there.  But, we'll continue to have light, lingering showers throughout the day into mid-late afternoon today (90% chance).  Winds are out of the N-NE at 16-18mph.  Temps won't get much higher as they'll probably be around the low-60s.  Tonight...clouds with rain probably ending although there's a 20% chance of precipitation as temps head back into the 50s.  Tomorrow...looks like Ms Sun's checking in for at least a day as Monday's back to cloudiness.

Autumn's Finest

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood.  It's another perfectly lovely Fall morning as the sky is brilliantly moonlit and starlit.  No breezes; just perfect stillness with the aroma of the ocean in the air.  These are the early mornings that can get no better in my opinion.   It makes me so happy.  Another thing that brings me joy...last night's moonrise and sunset.  It was incredible to see that.  It'll be another pleasant day down the shore.  Ms Sun will be the main attraction as the blue sky will be cloudless and the winds will be light and variable out of the W-NW at 8-12mph.  Temps will hover around the low 70s.
Tonight...some clouds checking in with Westerly winds and temps in the upper 50s.  What's not to like about autumn?  I guess I should mention that a weather system is due in tomorrow and will stay overnight and check out sometime Saturday morning which leads me to believe that the weekend may not be a washout.  Now where did I put that corkscrew?

Full Moon Hump Day

My view of this Morning's "Blood" - "Hunter's" Moon
Mornin'!  It's 66° this clear, breezy morn in Wildwood.  The sky is not only beautifully starlit, but the Full Moon (Hunter's moon) is going through an eclipse as I type.  I'm finding it very difficult to sit at this computer as I keep running to the backyard to witness the moon passing through the earth's shadow and turning dark red right in front of my eyes!  It's very cool!  It's a mild lovely morning as the clouds are just sprinkled here and there and the sea air is enhancing it all!  It'll be a lovely autumn day (almost a summery day) at the Shore.  Temps will be in the low 70s while Ms Sun does her thing shining down all day.  Winds will be ramped up a bit from the West at 16-22mph.  Tonight...back into the low 60s while winds simmer down still from the West at 10-12mph.  The weekend still has rain in the forecast with Saturday having the greater chance of rain.  Today though...a beauty and what a way to start the day!

Tuesday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood.  We're currently having a mild, very breezy morning as the almost full moon (Hunter's Moon) and stars are shining brightly and illuminating the island.  The breezes will continue from the S-SW at 19-24mph and tonight even stronger winds...S-SW at 28-40mph w/gusting.  Hang on tight!  Today we'll have a mix as Ms Sun will rise and shine while the clouds begin to check in and create gray covering a bit later.  There's even a 20% chance of a stray shower this afternoon.  Temps will reach the low 70s.  Tonight...there's a 80% chance of rain and/or scattered thunderstorms as winds, thunder and lightning knock us around a bit probably waking us from our slumber. Temps back into the low-mid 60s.  Wednesday and Thursday look like the winners this week as the clearing will come back by late morning tomorrow.  It could be a tad too late in clearing as a lunar eclipse is due up tomorrow morning right before daybreak and those pesky clouds cloud ruin our show.  We missed that last one in the Spring due to clouds!  Oh...I hate reporting this but the weekend's not looking too good as it's possibly a washout.  Geez, I hope not as I've been smacking my lips for some wine tasting at the Cape May Wine Fest.  Last but not least...since the moon's almost full keep a watch on tidal flooding as the streets have been showing the intensity of the moon's pull by filling with seawater.

Sunny and Breezy Monday

The dunes in North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 53° this quiet, clear, starlit morn in Wildwood.  It's a lovely morning with just a little chill in the air.  It'll be a pleasant autumn day with temps just about tapping 70° as Ms Sun pours down all day.  No breezes now but they're coming from the SW at 19-22mph+some gusting.  By tonight, winds will simmer down as temps drop into the low 60s.  It'll remain clear with bright starry skies including an almost full moon (Wednesday 10/8 is the Full Moon).  No rain in sight until possibly tomorrow night.  Today though...a lovely autumn day down the shore (keep the hairspray close by though)!  I almost forgot to mention that I drove over the new overpass on the Garden State Parkway south.  There are no more traffic lights to contend with on that highway coming to the Shore!  It's actually weird but quite remarkable when you're driving 65mph over what was the Parkway lanes that had traffic lights.  Kudos to those highway workers for their hard work and done before projection date efforts!  Now onto the next project...the Northbound lanes.

North Wildwood Low Tide
Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  It's overcast and still.  No stars or moon or breezes this morning.  Just the sounds of the waves crashing 6 blocks away.  This blog entry is covering today, tomorrow and Sunday since a visit to grand baby is in my forecast.  In a nut shell... today starts out cloudy with sun due in at least until later when the cloud cover checks back in bringing with it 60% chance of showers late tonight.  Temps will be in the low 70s with breezes out of the E-SE at 10-15mph and low 60s tonight.   Tomorrow...waking up to rain and thunderstorms (85% chance) with chances of rain throughout tomorrow afternoon.  S-SW winds 20-25mph.  Temps hovering around 70°.  Tomorrow night...clear and cold...shivering (I mean hovering) around 50° (could be sock weather).   Sunday...sunny with temps in the low 60s dropping to the low 50s Sunday night...a perfect Autumn day for the drive back to the island!

Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  There's a light breeze out there with clear, starlit skies.  With the neighborhood and boardwalk this dark and unlit, it's amazing how vivid and bright the night (or early morning) sky is.  It never ceases being beautiful somehow.  Gazing up into the darkness (especially if you're on the beach) will be simply amazing these next 7 months.  Next week will be the full moon too!  Anyway...today is basically repeating what's been the norm as of late.  Mix of clouds and sun with temps tapping 70°.  Breezes will be out of the N-NE at 10-20mph.  Tonight...more clouds as there's a 10% chance of a spritz as temps head back into the low 60s. The weekend's looking like Sunday will be the sunnier of the two days albeit much cooler.  Saturday has rain in the forecast until the afternoon.  Just saying.

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood.  It's a bit breezy and mostly clear in the dark, early October morning sky.  There are some big white clouds traveling along at a good clip in the darkness and it's quite a contrast. It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with some breezes thrown in (N-NE 15-20 mph).  Temps will tap the 70° mark.  (There is a 10% chance of a sprinkle today as well).  Tonight...clearing as the clouds begin to check out and temps drop back into the upper 50s.
