Adios May!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  Running a bit behind today as we're blessed to have friends who invited us on a morning boat cruise and a little fishing this morning.  Hope we score some catches as their daughter is so looking forward to a nice fish dinner for her birthday!  I've been getting in gear as we're meeting them in less than a half hour.  Can't wait!  It'll be a nice one today as well as tomorrow as Ms Sun's checked in for the entire weekend.  It'll be the breezier day as winds will be out of the N-NE at 12-20mph (10-15 knots).  Temps will be tapping 70°.  It's the start of Hurricane Season (I had to report that).  So, off we go into the wild blue yonder!  Life is good!

Spring Mix

Mornin'!  It's 55° again this morning.  It's once again overcast and cloudy.  This morning though...not much in the line of breezes as everything's still.  It's very quiet with fish fragrance in the stillness.  Guess the birds are sleeping in as not many are chirping in my neck of the 'Woods this morning.  It'll be partly cloudy/partly sunny as this Friday gets underway.  There's a frontal boundary approaching and bringing with it the Spring Mix of clouds and sun today.  Breezes will be light out of the E-NE at 6-8mph.  Temps will get up in the mid-60s.  Tonight...clouds will be still hanging out with temps dropping back into the 50s.  I'm happy to report that the weekend's full of sun!

Cooler and Gray

Mornin'!  It's 55° in gray Wildwood.  It's overcast, very breezy and a bit chilly.  You know it's chilly when the pooch is trying to curl up in any blanket he can while looking at me with a "wtf?" expression!  Hubby relented and heated up his little buckwheat pillow.   I guess I may have to relent and close any windows that are still open as the cool seabreeze continues to flow through the house.  It'll be a cloudy, chilly one today.  Temps won't get much higher than the low-60s with clouds hanging out all day.  Not one forecast mentioned "sun" today.  There's a chance of a morning sprinkle and tonight...an occasional shower or two but no one's committed to a rainy one.  As for tonight...back into the 50s.  Breezes will remain stiff and provide a bad hair day with E-NE winds at 15-25mph w/gusting.  Oh well...you can't have perfect, blue-sky, sunny, shore weather every day.

Happy Happy Birthday to my Hubby!!!

Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband today!  It's 67° in Wildwood.  There's some cloud cover but just like yesterday Ms Sun's coming up and brightening things up a bit.  The clouds near the horizon are being painted by the sun's rays...just beautiful.  I think all this sunshine and beauty will be short lived as clouds and rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast.  There's a 70% chance of rain showers today along with afternoon thunderstorms.  Temps will stay just about where they are as it'll be a mostly cloudy hump day.  Winds are nothing at the moment but will begin later this morning out of the W-NW at 10-15mph and shift by this afternoon out of the E-NE at 15-25mph.  Tonight...more showers and temps dropping down into the 50s.  For now...a perfectly lovely seashore morning!

Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood.  There's a nice cloud mass over half of the island as Ms Sun's just below it and painting the bottom with extraordinary colors as she's rising.  We're going to squeeze one more warm day into the forecast.  But, a back door cold front brings us back to reality as cloud cover increases throughout the day, and we run a risk for some scattered showers and thunderstorms by this afternoon (40% chance).  Upper 70s on the beaches & boardwalks with W-Southwest winds at 10-15mph. Tonight, back into the 60's with that chance of rain sticking around.  Tomorrow...begins with scattered rain showers and much cooler temps.  It was one perfect lovely Memorial weekend and a great way to kick off the unofficial start to the summer season.  It's back to pre-season normal as one car is parked on the street after struggling to find a parking spot the last few days!

Happy Memorial Day!

Mornin'!  Happy Memorial Day! It's the official Day that it's celebrated on...the last Monday of May.
"Memory Lane" Wildwood, NJ
Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day as Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving. As we remember all those who given their lives for our freedoms...today's blog is dedicated to you.  It's 63° in sunny Wildwood.  The Sun's up and shining brightly as barely a breeze is wifting (I mean wafting over us this early morn).  It'll be another beauty to this almost perfect holiday weekend.  Temps will be even warmer than yesterday and the Shore may just tap 80° as it'll be mostly sunny will light breezes out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...back into the 60's with some clouds thrown in the mix.

A Great Memorial Day Weekend Sunday!

Wildwood's Vietnam Memorial
Mornin'!  It's 63° this Sunday of Memorial Weekend.  Happy Memorial Day!  It's a beauty.  Sun's-a-shining brightly.  Not a cloud in the sky.  It dry.  All the windows are wide open. Sea fragrance is in the air.  The streets are loaded with cars.  Lots and lots and lots of folks on the island.  They're still coming too.  Last night at 2a.m. our neighbors' company pulled up and unloaded.  Our daughter is due around noon today.  It's a thick as thick can be this weekend and we all know that if it were cold and rainy it would never be this crowded.  It's a beautiful weekend by land and sea this holiday.  It'll be 10° warmer than yesterday reaching the mid-70s with light breezes out of the NW at 5-9mph. 2'-3' waves on the ocean and 1" waves on the back bays. Tonight remaining clear with temps down into the 60s.  Just a great time and place for fun in the sun (don't forget the sunblock)!  And, remember...when looking at those American Flags-a-flying...think of those who sacrificed their live so we could enjoy this day of freedom!

Happy Memorial Day!

Mornin'!  It's 59° in sunny Wildwood.  This blog is dedicated to all those who have served this country and given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for our freedom. It's quite crowded this Memorial day weekend.  Well, at least by the look of my street and all the cars here.  I think everyone's here now.  But, it's still early and I'm sure Rt. 47 has it's caravan of weekenders traveling in this direction.  It's a lovely start to the day and holiday weekend.  The sun is shining brightly.  The sky is clear and blue.  There's a very light breeze out of the N-NW.  That will shift later this afternoon out of the E-NE at 3-5mph.  So far this morning, the birds are the only sounds coming in all the opened windows.  It'll be sunny today with temps heading to the mid-70s.  There's a 20% chance of a scattered shower this afternoon.  Tonight...clear and temps in the 50s.  Tomorrow and Monday still look like great day as the temps increase each day with plenty of sunshine.

Happy Memorial Weekend!

Mornin'!  Happy Memorial Weekend! It's 61° again.  It feels much cooler than yesterday morning as the winds are crying Mary.  They're wifting (I mean wafting) over the island from the NW at 17-22mph under a cloud covered sky.  It looks and feels like it's going to start raining any moment.  Not a perfect looking start to a holiday weekend, but from every forecast I've just checked, today will develop into a nice one.  It'll be party cloudy today with a 20% chance of a scattered shower or two.  Temps will barely reach the upper 60s.  Winds will be hanging out all day too...NW at 15-20mph.  Most forecasts (except for one) said we'll see Ms Sun shining later by this afternoon.  So a cool partly-mostly cloudy day to kick off Memorial Weekend... a mix of the not-so-nice with the nice stuff.  Tomorrow...nicer and Sunday and Monday even nicer as it's going to become more sunnier and a tad warmer (high 60s-low 70s).  It'll be one of the nicer Memorial Weekends I think.  Safe travels!

Memorial Weekend is Tomorrow!!!

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  It's currently humid and drippy from overnight light showers.  Looks like everything got a watering.  The sky's brightening and becoming colorful yet there's plenty of cloud cover preventing ol' Ms Sun from shining brightly...you know...hazy and humid (not hot yet though).  It's still and quiet except for the sound of birds chirping everywhere and of course the surf way off in the distance.  The waves crashing actually lolled me to sleep last night...love when that happens. Cloud cover helps to do that. Today looks like a mix as all the forecasts are just about saying the same...partly cloudy/partly sunny; chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.  I'm going with clearing this morning with a possibility of another round of showers this afternoon and a chance of a thunderstorm tonight.  It'll be humid with temps heading into the mid-70s.  Breezes will be out of the NW at 8-13mph.  Tonight...back into the 50s as we keep our eye on the sky.  This weekend...looking nice...really nice...sunny in the 70s!  After this long, hard winter it's hard to believe that Memorial Day is here.  I can see the kites already!

More Clouds Than Sun

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood.  We've got clouds this morning.  It rained lightly during the night yet everything's now dry under all this grayness.  No sunrise visible this morning.  It's a bit humid with very light breezes out of the South bringing the aroma of the sea.  The shift will come later as the breeze will be from the S-SE at 7-10mph.  It'll be a gray day (possibly a peek or two of sun) but there's a 60% chance of rain showers all day long.  Temps will once again tap 70°.  Speaking of "70"...there's a 70% chance of rain showers tonight as temps drop back into the 50s.  Looks like rain for the overnight into tomorrow morning as well.  All that amazing, beautiful, sunny weather was only a temporary gift and we sure had plenty as of late and hopefully will bestow us this weekend.  This island resort (along with all those north and south of us) is beginning to come alive...a lot more folk crossing our bridges! 2 days until Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer here on the east coast!

More Springtime Loveliness

just after sunset - Key West
Mornin'!  It's 58° under clear skies.  Ms Sun just came over the horizon and is once again painting the seashore sky orange and pink.  No breezes.  It's very still and quiet yet the sea air is fragrant.  I couldn't hear one seagull this morning (that won't be for long though).  There's a bit of crispness in the air, but you can sense warmth coming once again heading our way.  It'll be the last of the sunny beauties as clouds are beginning to filter over us today.  Temps will tap 70° as breezes will be out of the NW a 9-13mph.  There's a 20% chance of a shower as we go into the overnight and begin a rainy pattern for tomorrow.  Temps will drop back down into the high 50s.  Today though...another beauty.

Weekend Weather Continues

Mornin'!  It's 51° under clear skies.  Wildwood has just welcomed Ms Sun who crossed the horizon a few minutes ago.  It's bright and crisp and still.  The stillness will fade when breezes pick up just a bit later this morning (N-NW at 10-12mph). Temps are expected to tap 70° as the sun will shine all day.  Tonight...back into the 50s.  It's pretty much a repeat of the weekend's weather.  What a nice weekend it was.  The weather was perfect as the island was alive with activities and visitors.  At the homefront...lots of outdoor work and gardening was the focus on my entertainment as all the herbs and veggies were planted.  Winter house plants (palms, jasmine, croton, fern, and cane) all got re-potted, trimmed, fed and brought outside to embellish the porch and backyard until Fall's first frost.  The cactus garden was carefully restored to its summer splendor with some new plants added (still have a couple needles in my fingers even with gloves on).  The outdoor shower was cleaned and prepped with new soaps, gels, shampoos, lotions and fresh towels.  I enjoyed an incredibly refreshing shower out there yesterday.  All the outdoor furniture was cleaned and prepped.  Fresh linens were put on all the beds for next weekend's guests (packed away the flannel sheets) as Memorial Day is now only 4 days away!  Puts that very long winter way behind us and in a different perspective.

Sunny Spring Sunday Down the Shore

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  The sun's up and shining brightly.  It's a repeat of yesterday and will repeat this loveliness again tomorrow.  Looks like a nice Spring day at the Shore as the sun will shine (with a touch of clouds thrown in) and as temps climb back into the upper 60s and possibly tap 70°.  A light land breeze will commence later (none at the moment) wifting (I mean wafting) out of the N-NW at 10-12mph.  Tonight...back into the the 50s.

Some Lovely Ones Up Ahead

Mornin'!  It's 55° under gorgeous sunny skies.  Ms Sun's up!  Everything's sunlit and bright as the rays are pouring over the island.  The house is alive with light.  It's a perfectly lovely Spring morn at the Shore.  It'll be nice the next 3 days as Ms Sun stays checked in (more clouds in the mix tomorrow) while temps climb back up into the mid-high 60s with winds out of the West at 11-14mph.  Perfect weekend weather for all the Wildwood activities!  It's a keeper!  Now where's that honey-do list?

Friday Washout

Mornin'!  It's 61° this early Friday morn.  Lots of weather happening around us.  Upon waking and peeking through the window drapery that was already waving from the breezes coming in the opened windows, all I could see was a bright, red sky. We all know what red sky in the morning means!  By the time I got my robe and slippers, a mug of coffee, checked the back porch thermometer and weather conditions and sat down here...the sky had turned every different color of the color wheel.  Ms Sun's trying her best to keep the sky colorful along the horizon as the cloud's are turning from reds to purples to dark ominous shades of gray making every effort to cover her.  The clouds seem to be winning this sunrise battle.  There's a slow moving weather system heading right for us.  The winds are basically bringing a cold front with rain in today's forecast.  At the moment the stiff breezes are out of the South-Southeast at 30mph plus gusting.  We're supposed to have major winds throughout the day at least up until late afternoon when they'll settle down a bit.  Soaking rains are on the menu as well as possible thunderstorms.  Temps will remain in the mid-upper 60s.   At the moment, Ms Sun's still got a couple openings and getting her rays through those dark clouds.  I love when weather's happening right in front of you.  It's a very cool start to the day.  As for the weekend...looking good as it's supposed to be sunny with temps tapping the 70s.  A nice one for this year's "Beach Jam" and "Captain Kid Pirate Day".  Dig out those tents and eye patches!

8 Days till Memorial Day

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood.  It's mostly clear and dry as the fog's lifting (we had some thick, intense fog last night) while Ms Sun's trying to get over that horizon this morning.  She's got some major cloud cover along the horizon to contend with but no doubt we'll get a peek of her.  All forecasts I've checked are saying a mostly cloudy one today...no rain but that Fog and Mist could be hanging.  Now add to that some stiff ocean breezes (S-SE 17-24mph) and you have a repeat of yesterday kicked up a notch...another moist exfoliating misty day.  Rain's coming tomorrow as we head into a nice long sunny patch of weather.  Temps will just about tap 70°.  Traffic lights have stopped blinking and today's "parking meter" day...all meters are officially in effect on the island.  Oh...we're gearing up...Memorial Day's next week!

Cloudy and Cooler

38 days until Summer
Mornin'!  It's 54° under cloudy skies.  Lots of dripping going on from a light early morning shower.  It's a bit on the breezy side with that ol' ocean breeze flowing over the island this gray morn.  No Ms Sun today as it'll be gray most of the day.  There's a chance of showers all throughout the day as cooler temps (mid-upper 60s) will be hanging around and cool ocean breezes will stay in the mix (East - 12-15mph).  It's really a lousy day yet on the bright side...our complexions will have a lovely natural exfoliation with the breezy sea mist (should bottle it and start my own product). Don't count on seeing the Full moon rise with all this cloud cover.  But, just in case the horizon clears up...the Full (Flower) Moon is rising tonight at the same exact time the sun is setting.

Spring is in the air!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and ready to welcome Ms Sun which is crossing the horizon as I type.  We had some rain on the overnight and everything's dewy fresh and aromatic.  I just love mornings like these.  I got the herb garden planted last night just in time for mother nature's watering.  I swear I could detect the fragrance of a sprig of fresh basil or rosemary in with the sea air this early morn.  It'll be another nice Spring day down the shore.  Not as warm and summery as the mainland or the big city but lovely just the same.  Some of the city folk were here yesterday heading to the beach and it just wasn't quite a beach day in my opinion.  I wore a light sweater for my lunch hour by the sea as I watched everyone coming off the beach looking chilled in beachwear and packing their cars heading out. If you're doing a beach day this time of year...pack a sweatshirt or light jacket.  Anyway...it'll be a partly cloudy/partly sunny one today with temps in the low-mid 70s.  Breezes will be out of the NW to begin with and shift to the NE all at 10-20mph.  There's a 20% chance of a shower today as well.  The moon is becoming brighter as it's in its full stage tomorrow.

Another Nice One

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood under clear, bright skies.  Ms Sun's crossing the colorful horizon as I type.  There are no breezes at the moment.  As far as a nice Spring morning goes...it's "perfection" out there.  Just like yesterday, there's some lovely sea air fragrance along with happy seagulls in the distance just adding to the really nice ambiance...a lovely start to the day and week.  It'll be mostly sunny today with temps getting up into the mid-upper 70s.  Winds will wift (I mean waft) in later from the SW-S at 13-18mph.  The clouds will filter in as well bringing a 40% chance of showers developing this evening as well as temps slipping back into the lo-mid 60s. Full Moon's in a couple days if you've been noticing some brighter night time sky...May 14th is the Flower Moon and the next full moon (not sure how much we'll see with this week's upcoming cloud cover).

Happy Mother's Day!

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood.  Happy Mother's Day!  We're under clear skies as Ms Sun's up and shining brightly over the island.  Not much in the line of breezes.  Everything's wet from an overnight/early morning shower.  It feels bright and crisp and clear as the seasgulls' laughter and fragrance of the sea fill the air.   Beautiful Spring morning at the shore. I've already got all the windows open!  It'll be pleasant as temps climb up to the mid-upper 70s with mostly sunny conditions (some clouds will fill the sky today) and breezes commencing out of the NW at 10-13mph.  The breezes will shift by early evening (S-SW) as temps drop back into the low-60s.  Looking like a perfectly lovely day for all you Mothers out there!  Enjoy your day!

Not So Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 64 balmy degrees in Wildwood.  It's raining lightly as the island's under some serious cloud cover.  In fact, I checked out the local doppler and there's a hefty weather system over us this morning as I type.  It's supposed to rain off and on most of the day (40% chance); by this afternoon, a chance of thunderstorms and by tonight...much of the same.  Bring the umbrella to the Classic Car Show as I'm sure the car owners will have theirs.  We could have a few peeks of sun in that ol' cloudiness too. Temps are supposed to get into the mid-upper 70s as breezes will be off the land (SW) at 13-15mph.  Tomorrow...better of the 2 weekend days...still cloudy but no rain in sight.

Foggy Friday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in foggy Wildwood.  The fog's rather thick at the moment.  In fact, when standing on the back porch this morning it sounded as though it was raining with all that dripping going on.  The canvas awnings were taking the brunt of those drips from the Willow creating the ambiance of a nice, rainy, Spring morning.  The fog's probably going to turn to showers (30% chance) later.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with off and on light showers into the evening and overnight.  A couple forecasts say "peeks of sun this afternoon"...we'll just have to see about that one (I wouldn't count on it).  Breezes are nothing to write about at the moment but will wift (I mean waft) in lightly a bit later on from the E-SE at 9-11mph.  Temps will hover around the low-mid 60s.  The weekend's looking ½ and ½ with Sunday (Mother's Day) looking the nicer of the two days!  It's the Spring Classic Car Show this weekend in Wildwood by the way.  Oh...and don't forget... Mothers ride free on all the amusement rides Sunday...nothing like a free ride on the Great White!

A little of this and a little of that

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood.  The sky is thickly cloud covered yet no rain.  There's a big rain system just north of us but it looks like we're missing the bullet.  Everything's dry out there yet there's lots of moisture in the sea air.  There's a sea breeze coming off the ocean at 12-15mph.  Good for your complexion or whatever ails you I say.   There is a 60% chance of a brief shower this morning.  By this afternoon, there will be breaks in the clouds as Ms Sun begins peeking through.  We'll probably see 60° on the ol' thermometer today as the breeze shifts from a light sea breeze (SE) to a land breeze (N-NW) at 5-8mph. The weekend's still looking decent as the temps climb up to summer mode.

Cool Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 51° in sunny Wildwood.  Well, almost "sunny" Wildwood as the sun has yet to cross the horizon but will do so in a just a few moments.  The sky is clear now but will begin to fill with clouds today as most forecasts I've checked said clouds will be increasing throughout the day due to rains coming tonight.  There's a 60% chance of rain commencing this evening around bedtime as well as a possible thunderstorm during the overnight (looks like a rainy one tomorrow btw).  Today will be cooler than yesterday as temps will hover around the upper 50s and probably tap 60°.  Winds are currently light out of the E-SE at 10-12mph and will shift by later this morning out of the NE.

Even a little warmer today!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  We're under thick, heavy cloud cover at the moment as there's a 20% chance of morning showers.  The sky looks very cool and is providing some awesome colors in the clouds (deep purples) along the coast.  The horizon is clear while Ms Sun's trying to rise at the moment.  The clouds are also insulating the island providing the sounds of pounding surf.  It's supposed to clear and be a sunny day with temps rising into the mid-60s.  There's hardly any breeze at the moment but light W-NW breezes will filter in later at 5-10mph. Tonight...back into the 50s.  It's looking like a beauty!

Cinco De Mayo!

Mornin'!  Happy 5th of May!  It's 50° in Wildwood under clear morning skies as Ms Sun's about to cross the horizon any moment.  It's a bit breezy with winds out of the NW.  It'll be a lovely day...almost be a repeat of yesterday...sunny, highs in the mid-upper 60s with breezes out of the NW at 15-20mph.  Ms Sun's sticking around even more so than yesterday as those chilly gray clouds checked in for a bit yesterday afternoon...not happening today.  At least according to 3 forecasts I've checked.  Seems like an excellent day for a chimichanga and a margarita on the back porch after work.  Work?  Uh-oh...it's back to work.  I'll need strength from a higher power for this one!

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood this 1st Sunday in May!  Happy May!  Haven't had the chance to write that one yet on the ol' blog.  I did do a toast for the coming of May on May 1st while in Key West this past week.  I may have toasted everything in sight last week as a matter of fact!  I did keep a daily check of the weather here to only find the week to be a rainy, chilly, raw blustery one and we couldn't have picked a better weather week to go away.  We had not one drop of rain in the Keys.  But, did have a blast of some intense summer weather and heat as the porch thermometer posted 90° more than once.  What a weird feeling to get such a quick, intense taste of summer in such a quick snap.  It was incredible to be with the humidity and Palms and tropical plants.  I hated leaving all that summer behind.  This coming week is not looking too shabby here at the Shore as we may not see rain until next weekend.  The long range forecast is predicting a clear and sunny and mild week ahead.  For today's weather at the Jersey shore...nice.  It'll be sunny and clear with temps in the mid-upper 60s as winds wift (I mean waft) in from the W-SW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...back into the 50s.
